Summary
In this episode, we continue our study of the book of Jude and talk about the purpose and purpose of the letter Jude wrote to the church. Jude calls the church to "earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints because there were certain men who crept in unaware who turned the grace of God into lasciviousness."

There's this misconception, man, that there's these seeker-friendly churches.
00:00:04.720
Nobody can come to God unless he draws them first.
00:00:08.100
So there's not really even such a thing as a seeker.
00:00:10.780
Like, the only way you're seeking is if God's drawing you.
00:00:14.240
So if you're trying to make up this thing to get people to like it,
00:00:17.340
bro, you're bringing them in on a straight falsehood.
00:00:19.560
Like, you're bringing them in on something fake.
00:00:21.700
But if God is really drawing somebody, then just preach the word of God with fire.
00:00:26.500
Bring the fire and hammer and just preach hard.
00:00:29.780
Because those people God's drawing, they'll respond to the truth.
00:01:06.060
We made it all the way to our last study in Jude,
00:01:09.120
which is crazy that people would hang in there that long on like a 25-verse book
00:01:14.080
that we've probably cross-referenced 100 passages on now.
00:01:18.460
So I'm just really grateful to everybody that's hung in there.
00:01:20.740
This is like a big day to like really finalize the book of Jude.
00:01:37.780
Jude verses 1 through 4 is like the intro and the purpose of the letter, right?
00:01:42.860
Like anytime we're reading a book in the Bible, we've got to come to terms with like who's
00:01:48.960
It's Jude, he's writing to the church, and then he's saying his purpose, which can really
00:01:58.340
Remember he says, he tells the church to earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered
00:02:04.340
unto the saints because there are certain men crept in unaware who turned the grace of
00:02:11.880
Then you go through verses 4 through 19, which is exposing the apostasy, exposing that, giving
00:02:17.760
you examples of that through scripture, giving examples from scripture, which like when we
00:02:23.760
talk about apostasy, we could just say, you know, the carnal life is really what he's exposing.
00:02:28.020
And then what we're in now is verses 20 through 25, which is the solution or the application,
00:02:35.000
Like he's just exposed versus 4 through 19, this life of apostasy, this life of falling
00:02:42.680
away, which revolves around personal gain, personal lust, personal desire, love of self,
00:02:50.140
and will actually take advantage of the church to benefit self.
00:03:00.820
So like I'm saying, the point that he's getting at is to earnestly contend for the faith.
00:03:08.700
Sometimes people read that and they think like they have to win arguments with words, right?
00:03:14.860
You guys probably know some people that may or may not be in the room that I'm talking
00:03:20.020
And like people think like earnestly contends for the faith, which means like we have to
00:03:24.060
win arguments with words, but we in arguments, we win arguments with life.
00:03:30.500
We win arguments with life, the way we live our life.
00:03:41.220
Like to make this real, think about if you guys have ever like interviewed somebody or
00:03:45.320
even sat in on an interview and they do like this great interview and then they come to
00:03:50.060
work and you're like, what happened to the guy from the interview?
00:03:52.620
Like this guy is terrible in real life, but he crushed it with the words, right?
00:03:57.660
That's why we're not earnestly contending for the faith, winning arguments.
00:04:01.360
We're winning it with the way we live our life.
00:04:05.580
There's this thing in America called presidents.
00:04:09.540
And so every four years they have like the elite ruling class like puts up, there's one
00:04:16.640
They put up these people and they go around and they like say words and shake hands and
00:04:22.820
And then based on that, we supposedly like vote.
00:04:26.680
And then they're saying like, oh yeah, the people get to pick which one of the ruling class
00:04:30.560
elites is ruling the nation, the red team or the blue team.
00:04:34.320
But the context is that like they went around and did like this popularity contest by saying
00:04:39.940
words and trying to get people's vote, which is a completely different skill set than running
00:04:47.140
Those are two completely different, irrelevant skill sets, man.
00:04:54.520
Like it's basically sales and then operations, right?
00:04:58.900
But somehow we ended up in this space where like a guy talks and talks and talks.
00:05:02.560
And so they pick him and now he has the job of running a nation, which could have nothing
00:05:07.580
to do with this skill set of being able to talk.
00:05:12.160
You know, we just, you know, we're living in a simulation.
00:05:18.400
But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy
00:05:23.520
Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus
00:05:29.740
And if some have compassion, making a difference in others, save with fear, pulling them out
00:05:34.560
of the fire, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
00:05:37.740
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before
00:05:42.280
the presence of his glory with exceeding joy to the only wise God, our savior, be glory
00:05:47.020
and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever.
00:05:53.080
So verse 20, build up yourselves on your most holy faith.
00:06:04.560
Like I think a lot of people think they're building up themselves as they're building a
00:06:12.360
They're doing cool things in business, which that's great.
00:06:16.980
But that, but this is talking about building up yourselves on your most holy faith, which we've
00:06:21.160
talked about this Hebrews 11, one passage before, right?
00:06:24.220
That faith is the substance that things hope for the evidence of things not seen.
00:06:28.580
So build up yourself on that substance, make your faith more and more real.
00:06:36.520
Remember in James 2, 19, it says that demons believe demons believe and tremble.
00:06:44.720
Oh, it's not just believing it's building yourself up on faith, building yourself up on that substance.
00:06:50.280
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
00:06:52.820
Let's see how Jesus breaks this down in Luke 17.
00:06:59.780
And the apostle said unto the Lord, increase our faith.
00:07:04.780
They come to Jesus and they're asking him this.
00:07:07.940
Jude says, build up yourselves on your most holy faith.
00:07:11.640
They're saying, Lord, increase our faith so we could build up ourself on our most holy
00:07:20.680
And the Lord said, if ye had faith as a grain of a mustard seed, ye might say unto the
00:07:25.840
sycamine tree, be thou plucketh up by the root and thou plant it in the sea and it shall
00:07:32.680
But which of you having a servant plowing or feeding cattle will say unto him by and by
00:07:37.520
when he has come from the field, go and sit down to meet?
00:07:46.080
I feel like, you know how we talk a lot about not being deceived, especially like people
00:07:50.960
are arguing over doctrine and theology and how does the end times go down and how does
00:08:01.200
And there's all this arguing over like words and a book and who can prove it because they're
00:08:06.100
like so smart and they understand letters and they have doctrine and theology and they've
00:08:11.980
And what we were talking about, like knowing the Lord, like knowing the character of the
00:08:15.500
Lord is very important to not be deceived because you have to be able to apply it to
00:08:19.280
the day that you live in, not just when debates based on like two plus two is four.
00:08:23.360
Like the word of God is not just an intellectual book of like two plus two is four.
00:08:28.320
So like, this is one of the things that Jesus is like, man, he, they say, increase our faith.
00:08:36.800
He doesn't even like answer what they're saying, dude, like what he's doing.
00:08:43.560
He, he's giving, he's making them hungry for faith.
00:08:48.260
He tells them something that is designed to make them hungry for more faith.
00:08:55.500
He's, he doesn't spoon, he doesn't say, oh, increase our faith.
00:09:07.860
He says, bro, if you had faith, imagine what you could do by doing that.
00:09:13.220
He's making them hungry for faith and they are going to increase faith.
00:09:16.980
And they're going to learn as this story goes on, how to increase faith.
00:09:21.840
So do the works of faith, which is different than works of the law,
00:09:26.740
Faith comes, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
00:09:31.960
They're going to be intentional to be in the word of God,
00:09:36.520
Now they're saying like, wow, faith is this thing that can do stuff.
00:09:39.500
I know people get offended by that, but that's,
00:09:46.980
Seven through 10, because this is a super valid point, man.
00:09:51.560
But which of you having a servant plowing or feeding cattle would say unto him by and by,
00:09:55.720
when he has come from the field, go and sit down to meet.
00:10:02.720
And I will not rather say unto him, make ready wherewith I may sup and gird thyself
00:10:08.460
and serve me till I have eaten and drunken and afterward thou shalt eat and drink.
00:10:12.920
Doth he thank the servant because he did the things that were commanded him?
00:10:20.120
So likewise, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded of you, say,
00:10:29.420
So just to unpack this real quick, I know that's a little confusing.
00:10:32.500
He's saying like, yo, if you're a servant, you just do what you're supposed to do.
00:10:39.300
He's immediately saying, be careful about pride when it comes to faith.
00:10:45.000
He's saying, dude, if you had faith, look what you can do, but be real careful.
00:10:48.360
Be real careful because if you do have faith and incredible things are happening,
00:11:00.220
In Romans 12, 1, it says, this is your reasonable service.
00:11:04.420
Like, don't think that because now you have faith and things are happening that now you're a big shot.
00:11:16.840
It says, I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies
00:11:20.540
or your whole being a living sacrifice, not a dead one, a living sacrifice.
00:11:26.060
Like your entire life, you sacrifice that to God.
00:11:30.240
Holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
00:11:33.400
I love that verse because like the creator of the universe came down,
00:11:37.900
let people spit in his face and rip his beard out,
00:11:40.060
made him die this bloody, torturous death to buy me back from the dead
00:11:43.700
so that I don't spend eternity separated from him.
00:11:47.020
Yeah, I think it's my reasonable service that I would have faith and give my entire being to him.
00:11:53.400
So it's not like you did something good or you're some big shot now because like you're rolling in the faith.
00:12:07.740
And you like reading because you don't like the dead time?
00:12:11.440
Like if there's like dead time in between passages?
00:12:15.260
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man kneeling down to him and saying,
00:12:22.100
Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic and sore vexed.
00:12:27.140
For oft time he falleth into the fire and oft into the water.
00:12:36.280
Like it looks like this is talking about even like, what's it called when you have like the convulsions and the people start foaming at the mouth and have, what's it called again?
00:12:47.400
It looks like it's potentially this is what he's talking about.
00:12:50.380
Which like for a long time, that's how they understood epilepsy was demonic.
00:12:55.220
Was that it was demonic that it was like the foaming at the mouth and all this stuff.
00:13:00.620
But no matter what, it's definitely a demon that they're coming to Jesus and saying, hey, can you help?
00:13:06.280
The guy, now the guy says in verse 16, he says, I brought them, I brought them to your disciples and they could not cure him.
00:13:23.680
Then Jesus answered and said, oh, faithless and perverse generation.
00:13:27.780
Remember, we've talked about this before that like Jesus would probably not be welcome in a lot of like modern American churches.
00:13:33.840
Like look how he just generalizes an entire generation and he doesn't stop to say, now hear my heart, church.
00:13:45.940
He thinks you have a brain and you can think through it and understand that he's generalizing an entire population.
00:13:52.140
And of course, you know that that doesn't necessarily mean every single person's like that.
00:14:00.120
Now, I guess people are offended by that, but he just crushes this whole generation.
00:14:10.560
And Jesus rebuked the devil and he departed out of him.
00:14:16.860
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart and said, why could not we cast him out?
00:14:24.740
We're talking about build up yourselves on your most holy faith.
00:14:28.920
And Jesus said unto them, because of your unbelief.
00:14:33.980
We got to deal with this too, because people, people won't necessarily understand.
00:14:42.660
I think there's like a word of faith movement or something, or like name it and claim it.
00:14:46.280
And it's like this concept of having faith in faith.
00:14:50.860
We have faith in Jesus and in what he's told us through his word.
00:14:54.600
So this, so you're like, what, man, why is he riding them hard like this, dude?
00:14:58.360
Like these guys bring the disciples, a boy with a demon.
00:15:04.420
Jesus says, you faithless and perverse generation.
00:15:10.340
Because in 10, one, it says this, it says when he, Jesus had called unto him as 12 disciples,
00:15:14.900
he gave them power against unclean spirits to cast them out and to heal all manner of
00:15:22.720
That's why it's something that he had already given them.
00:15:25.960
He had already given them through his word, this power to do this, and they weren't operating
00:15:31.140
And that's why he rebuked them and called them faithless.
00:15:33.280
So he gave them faith, but because it's a substance, you're able to lose this thing.
00:15:39.000
We could, um, faith and power go together, but he gave them power over those unclean
00:15:46.040
And the fact that they weren't operating in that power that he gave them, he was saying
00:15:51.420
You don't, I gave you this power and you're not operating in it.
00:16:00.380
You don't have faith in things that like you just make up.
00:16:05.720
And in this case, he told them that they have power over this demons.
00:16:12.060
He says, because of your unbelief, he said, he tells them straight up for verily, I say
00:16:18.260
unto you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed there, we see this faith as a grain of
00:16:23.920
And this point needs to be made the issue like a, like a mustard seed is like this really
00:16:31.740
So it's not the matter of like having big faith.
00:16:36.940
That mustard seed is so little, but as life, as long as you have a living faith, as long
00:16:42.980
as you, it could be the size of a mustard seed.
00:16:45.020
He's literally saying that it could be this tiny.
00:16:49.000
As long as it has life in it, as long as your faith has life in it, this is what you
00:16:54.320
If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, living faith, you shall say unto this mountain,
00:16:59.560
remove hence to yonder place and it shall remove and nothing shall be impossible unto
00:17:10.780
This kind of demon where it says devil in the King James.
00:17:16.820
How be it this kind of demon, which is intriguing because if there's this kind, then there must
00:17:34.920
This kind only goes out by prayer and fasting, which makes this connection between prayer
00:17:42.900
He's saying you can't cast them out because you don't have faith.
00:17:48.400
You got to be on another level to build the kind of faith to cast these ones out.
00:17:52.780
Like I get, I know people get like really offended if you say like, oh, your faith does things
00:17:59.640
like your faith accomplishes things in the earth.
00:18:02.660
But the scripture like clearly teaches that it clearly teaches that like your faith has
00:18:11.380
This is actually, I don't want to detract from your, your episode here, but one of the disagreements
00:18:17.040
we had with Albarino was whether aliens leave in the name of Jesus or not.
00:18:20.900
And he says there had been cases where they don't.
00:18:24.140
And obviously we were trying to make the angle that they're demonic.
00:18:27.580
Well, you know, some leave with prayer and fasting.
00:18:32.100
These types, you need a certain amount of faith.
00:18:37.800
Like, especially when we've been told, we've been told that like, you know, there's incredible,
00:18:49.680
But still these things require, there, there is still a requirement of certain things.
00:18:56.160
Well, not bizarre, but like, it's just interesting to think.
00:18:58.720
Well, no, there's, yeah, there's different levels of faith.
00:19:00.880
And I know, I think maybe you got a little, uh, not happy about that to say like, oh, it's
00:19:09.800
We're not really saying that, but, uh, potentially like, yeah, different people with different
00:19:15.980
And we brought up the, uh, sons of Sceva that tried casting out demons in the name of Jesus.
00:19:20.180
They did the same thing that other people did, but it didn't work.
00:19:22.900
And so, so maybe there is a situation where, uh, aliens leave people alone at the name of
00:19:33.280
I mean, I'm intrigued by it, but I just don't know a lot about it to speak on it.
00:19:41.200
Watch this in Luke, uh, just to kind of bring this point home about our faith is in what
00:19:47.520
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
00:19:50.020
So our faith is about what God has given us in his word, right?
00:19:58.260
So we're going to look at Luke 8, 22 through 25.
00:20:03.960
Now it came to pass on a certain day that he went into a ship, that's Jesus with his
00:20:08.580
And he said unto them, let us go over into the other side of the lake.
00:20:17.480
And there came down a storm of wind on the lake and they were filled with water and were
00:20:22.780
Some would say that's another, uh, remember we talked about Job and how Satan controlled
00:20:28.180
Some would say that's what he was doing here too, that, uh, Satan was tampering with the
00:20:31.820
weather because these were fishermen who spent their life like on the water.
00:20:35.480
And this would be very bizarre for these fishermen to just be caught off guard by a storm like
00:20:40.740
Like, so that's why some people think this is like the supernatural storm.
00:20:45.580
I think I, I've done like a little study on this as well.
00:20:47.860
Like when you look at that, the, the sea that they were in, it's, it's a, it's not a
00:20:54.220
So that kind of a storm would be unusual for that.
00:21:01.980
And there came down a storm of wind on the lake and they were filled with water and were
00:21:06.760
And they came to him and awoke him saying, master, master, we perish.
00:21:09.980
Then he arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water and they ceased and there
00:21:23.120
He's saying like, it's unacceptable that you just freaked out because a storm came and they
00:21:29.380
being afraid, wondered saying one to another, what manner of man is this?
00:21:34.480
But I wonder if Jesus thought what manner of men are these like, like, where is their
00:21:39.920
faith for he commanded even the wind and the water and they obey him again.
00:21:46.560
He says in verse 22, we're going to the other side.
00:21:50.240
If he doesn't say that, you start freaking out.
00:21:54.400
But if he told you we're going to the other side and he's on the boat with you, what are
00:22:04.940
When God tells us something and then we deny it and then we don't believe it, that's a problem.
00:22:11.160
We're not saying have faith in the fact that you're going to be a millionaire or you have
00:22:16.420
faith in you're going to drive a Cadillac or you have faith in, I don't know, make up
00:22:21.920
Like, there's like a faith movement where you start making things up and you make yourself
00:22:26.900
Faith is believing what God has told you through his word.
00:22:30.040
These are good examples because he told them we're going to the other side.
00:22:34.640
We're going to the other side and I'm in the boat with you.
00:22:43.820
So, okay, now we're going into, all right, but you, beloved, building up yourselves on
00:22:51.700
your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
00:22:53.940
Now, I know there's a group within the body of Christ who I know and love and I'm very
00:22:58.980
close to called like Pentecostals or Charismatics who think that praying in the Holy Ghost means
00:23:05.300
just praying in tongues, which I'm not saying that you can't pray in tongues in the Holy Ghost.
00:23:11.060
I'm not saying that, but there's no way that I'm accepting that praying in the Holy Ghost
00:23:18.140
Like John Wesley, if you think about John Wesley, this dude never prayed in tongues.
00:23:24.040
Like, you will never convince me that he was not praying in the Holy Ghost.
00:23:31.380
That's just one of the things within the body that's just like interesting stuff that the
00:23:38.580
different denominations believe the different things or whatever.
00:23:41.600
But let's look at, I think what the scripture teaches about praying in the Holy Ghost is
00:23:55.160
I just thought you wanted to read it because I know how you get it.
00:24:00.880
For we know that the whole creation groans and travails and pain together until now.
00:24:14.540
For the earnest expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation of the sons of
00:24:18.880
God, because the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason to
00:24:23.200
him who had subjected the same in hope, because the creature itself also shall be delivered
00:24:27.700
from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
00:24:31.820
For we know that the whole creation groans and travails and pain together until now.
00:24:36.160
Bro, that's saying that the entire creation is like, hey, human beings, let's go.
00:24:41.380
Adam brought the curse on the entire creation and all of the creation is still under the
00:24:53.360
Like we're the ones that rule the territory of the earth.
00:24:58.540
This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached under the ends of the world.
00:25:02.300
And then the end shall come like that's man's job.
00:25:06.880
Like Jesus starts casting out demons and demons are preaching the gospel.
00:25:10.360
They're saying, we know who you are, the holy one of God.
00:25:18.380
And like the whole creation is saying like humans, come on, let's go, man.
00:25:21.860
Like we're stuck in this way of life now under the curse.
00:25:28.100
That was just a sidebar, but I just, I don't know.
00:25:30.120
I really liked that passage, but, but I do want to start in 22 for, we know that the whole
00:25:33.860
creation groans and travails and pain together until now.
00:25:36.380
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the spirit.
00:25:42.280
Even we ourselves grown within ourselves, waiting for the adoption to wit the redemption
00:25:47.440
of our body because we are saved by hope, but hope that is seen is not hope for what a
00:25:55.660
But if we hope for the things we don't see, then do we with patience, wait for it.
00:26:00.800
Likewise, the spirit also helps our infirmities for we know not what we should pray for as
00:26:06.060
we ought, but the spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings, which cannot be uttered.
00:26:16.920
And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the spirit because he makes intercession
00:26:33.300
And when he does that, there's like groanings, which cannot be uttered.
00:26:41.800
Some people have been in a place of prayer and they're just praying and praying and praying.
00:26:45.840
And the next thing you know, they're crying and praying and they're praying and crying
00:26:50.560
And then ultimately ends up in just, whoa, just groaning.
00:26:58.780
I think that's where the fasting comes through, man.
00:27:01.020
Like sometimes I think if you're fasting, you're able to get into that thinner spot
00:27:04.860
and then praying, that'll flow right through you.
00:27:07.640
Well, yeah, you're just way, way, way more sensitive.
00:27:12.520
We talked about like the Tony Hawk game when it goes into slow motion.
00:27:16.760
You're just what your spirit's way more sensitive, man.
00:27:20.780
And so some of that stuff pricks your heart and grieves you that maybe you kind of didn't
00:27:24.640
you notice before, but you didn't care too much.
00:27:26.400
Now it's grieving you because you're praying in the Holy Ghost.
00:27:31.120
You're feeling how God feels and you're praying accordingly.
00:27:37.240
You're just groaning like you're praying and praying.
00:27:39.560
And then boom, you just have nothing left to say, man, other than just, oh, some people
00:27:47.660
We're looking at 1 Corinthians 6, 19 and 20 now.
00:28:03.420
Know you not that your body, not just the body, your body.
00:28:09.940
Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which you
00:28:21.040
When I first read this passage, you're not your own.
00:28:23.540
You ever see this movie called, um, I saw it on the airplane and, um, it's a video game
00:28:34.380
There's a line in that movie, bro, where he goes, the blood that flows through your
00:28:41.860
And then it gets into like the apple that got eaten in the Garden of Eden.
00:28:45.840
It's a rad movie though, but it, but it's just got this gangster line in it.
00:28:49.120
The blood that throws, that flows through your vein is not your own.
00:28:54.180
Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which
00:29:02.460
Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
00:29:09.360
Like if you sign up for this, your body's not your own anymore.
00:29:13.760
Like that's even when I think it came up about tattoos before or whatever.
00:29:16.720
And I say, yeah, yeah, whatever, but your body doesn't belong to God.
00:29:21.500
So if you want to mark it up, that's, I'm not saying yes or no.
00:29:24.520
I'm just saying you have to take that to God because your body belongs to God.
00:29:28.860
This is like, dude, we could do a whole study just on this verse.
00:29:32.040
I'd like to, because that this verse gets into like, so your body, your body, and I'm
00:29:36.900
sorry, your body and your spirit, which are God's.
00:29:40.320
I assume that's lowercase G because I have it all capitalized here, but that's a, that
00:29:50.200
Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy ghost.
00:29:54.180
So the, the big thing here I'm trying to talk about is like, some people talk about like
00:29:59.140
I'm not looking for a visitation from God, right?
00:30:07.200
I'm just saying I'm more centered on or focused on or thinking about creating a habitation
00:30:14.620
I'm thinking about creating an environment where he wants to live.
00:30:20.100
Like, am I, am I an actual environment where the Holy ghost wants to live?
00:30:24.080
Like, I'm like, am I actually creating an environment like by my life where he's comfortable,
00:30:31.620
And I think just being aware of that is like a huge step, just being mindful of that because
00:30:42.780
But, but the point I'm just trying to get at is we're just building up a couple of passages
00:30:49.680
Like we're talking about, let the Holy ghost pray through you, right?
00:30:54.280
Well, we have to be aware that he's in us and that he's living in us.
00:30:57.220
So let's just read through some passages that are going to make this real that he's inside
00:31:01.620
So Luke 11, do you think like, uh, I was having the conversation about Hanukkah recently as
00:31:07.160
That's a celebration of the temple, but here we have consistently saying that Jesus Christ
00:31:14.080
And then we have this idea of the temple that's inside of us that the Holy spirit is dwelling.
00:31:17.640
This is what God had left us when Jesus Christ leaves.
00:31:20.720
It's like, you're talking about people who are not, you're talking about a culture, whether
00:31:23.940
it's Kenya or Mexico or Canada or England, that's a nation.
00:31:30.260
That's a, you're talking about the nation of Israel.
00:31:32.160
They're a nation and they have a holiday, uh, that has to, that revolves around, yeah,
00:31:39.500
That's something different than us being the temple.
00:31:42.840
Like that, the, I guess that, that line between the temple is external, the temple is internal.
00:31:48.740
And then how does that affect what, like how we are, what we do our actions going forward?
00:31:55.260
No, this is a great, you're, this is a great topic.
00:31:58.920
Because like sometimes people get caught up in this idea that now like the church is
00:32:03.380
They may, they may or may not use that language, but they're like, yeah, when I go to the A
00:32:07.360
frame building with the cross on it at 10 AM every Sunday, like that's the temple, like
00:32:13.020
Like Ravenhill, I seen Ravenhill preaching one time and he was saying, I love this guy, dude.
00:32:19.880
He goes, he goes, all right, anybody in here that's, uh, smoke cigarettes, light them up.
00:32:26.800
He goes, anybody who wants to smoke cigarettes, go ahead, light them up.
00:32:32.280
Whoever here that's cigarette smokers, go ahead, smoke.
00:32:43.000
So anything that you're willing to do out there, you should be able to do in here because this
00:32:49.000
If you're willing to do that to your temple out there, do it in here.
00:32:51.600
The church is just like a, I don't know, a drawing of it.
00:32:57.960
But we are the temple and we'd have to unpack that a lot more because in that same passage,
00:33:03.140
I believe he's saying you are the temple individually, but the church as a whole is the temple as
00:33:08.120
The body of Christ, the body of believers, not just you individually, the Holy Spirit lives in
00:33:13.240
He also lives in all of us collectively as, as the body of Christ.
00:33:17.200
So yeah, that's like a way deeper thing that I can see you want to get deeper into.
00:33:23.220
So Luke 11, nine, and I say unto you, remember, we're just getting to this point of coming
00:33:28.180
to terms with the creator of the universe living inside of you.
00:33:33.680
When they pass the paper around and it says you can be Buddhist or Hindu or Islam or whatever,
00:33:57.300
Like this is the craziest, most offensive thing.
00:33:59.900
I mean, the thought of like God coming down to the earth and letting people spit in his
00:34:03.300
face and rip his beard out and dying a bloody, torturous death to buy us back.
00:34:08.420
But I think this rivals that dude, the thought that the creator of the universe would live
00:34:14.220
So it's like, you kind of had to keep getting this in your spirit and thinking about it and
00:34:18.540
reading it over and over and over till you really come to terms with this.
00:34:23.460
There's no other so-called religion that has anything remotely close to that.
00:34:26.600
They're like the, that God would live inside you.
00:34:30.240
And I say unto you, ask and it shall be given you seek and you shall find knock and it shall
00:34:35.680
be opened unto you for everyone that asks receives and he that seeks finds into him that
00:34:42.060
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone?
00:34:45.680
Or if he asked for a fish, will he, uh, will he for a fish, give him a serpent?
00:34:49.780
Or if he shall ask for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
00:34:52.380
If you then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall
00:34:57.940
your heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
00:35:04.800
We're talking about, let's, let's just make sure we have the context here.
00:35:07.820
We're reading in Jude, praying in the Holy Ghost, right?
00:35:11.480
We've read about in Romans eight, letting the Holy Ghost pray through you, right?
00:35:16.960
We've talked about in the one Corinthians six passage that we are the temple of the Holy
00:35:32.800
If you then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall
00:35:36.900
your heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to who?
00:35:39.620
To them that ask him and don't get hung up on like crazy, you know, there's like these
00:35:43.980
big fighting doctrine over, oh, well, you're already saved.
00:35:48.420
Like the scripture says to ask God for the Holy Spirit.
00:35:51.040
I wouldn't get hung up on, well, do I have them?
00:35:57.760
Well, I think these are these decisions that we have to make every day, right?
00:36:00.200
It's like, are you going to watch that pornography?
00:36:08.800
But like the actions are the things that we should deal with constantly.
00:36:11.960
And I think if they're at least coming to my mind, like, should I do or should I not?
00:36:17.100
It's almost like they're passing through this temple and I'm deciding if I'm going to let
00:36:25.080
It's like, I think it's Romans seven that kind of really breaks it down that like, here's
00:36:32.720
Like you can't, like you're saying like, oh, do I, the pornography or the this or the
00:36:36.020
that, like you can't resist it in your own strength.
00:36:39.360
Your only solution is the Holy Spirit living in you.
00:36:42.320
That is your own, like, like that's what the entire Old Testament taught us is like,
00:36:54.320
Like these things, there's a difference between these things coming to your mind.
00:36:57.240
Like the, the thing that's almost on your lips that you're about to say, and then you
00:37:00.580
doing it at least we could, at the very least we could stop from doing it.
00:37:04.780
We're going to be, we're going to be pelted with these thoughts, these fiery darts from
00:37:10.440
If a thought crosses your mind, I mean, there's probably everybody in the chat probably
00:37:13.400
knows you've had some thoughts come across your mind.
00:37:18.540
Like I, I could, I did not want to think that thought that just came in my brain.
00:37:30.560
That's what the entire old Testament taught us is like, you can't do this in your own strength.
00:37:35.620
The only way to live this is God living through you, which is grace.
00:37:39.720
Like that's the concept of grace is that it's God living through you.
00:37:47.300
So just, just get used to the idea of God living and speaking in and through you.
00:37:57.660
Cause I don't know what all is in the notes and what's not.
00:38:05.340
For they shall deliver you up into councils and in the synagogues, you shall be beaten and
00:38:09.940
you shall be brought in before rulers and Kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
00:38:27.720
Sometimes, man, like, you know, the Lord is drawing you to have some conversation or some
00:38:35.520
I remember in the beginning, like walking away from some of those conversations going
00:38:38.520
like, that's not how I thought that was going to go.
00:38:40.360
And then I didn't understand, like the Lord wasn't guiding me into that conversation
00:38:48.280
We spoke about that last week about when we should, like how we should be having these
00:38:56.720
And you're like, hey, it's not up to us to guide how it is.
00:39:16.040
And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
00:39:21.740
He says, and the gospel must first be published among all nations.
00:39:25.900
Remember, that's what the creation is waiting for us to do.
00:39:29.380
Remember, we just read in Romans that the creation is waiting and groaning, waiting for
00:39:36.980
Yeah, that's what they're waiting for us to do.
00:39:38.980
This gospel must first be published among all nations.
00:39:41.500
The turkeys and the deer and the chickens can't do that, dude.
00:39:46.140
But when they shall lead you and deliver you up, this is what I'm getting at.
00:39:49.780
Take no thought beforehand what you shall speak.
00:39:53.840
But whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak.
00:39:58.640
For it is not you that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
00:40:01.240
Just get used to this idea of the Holy Ghost living in you and talking through you and speaking
00:40:11.040
Remember, the context is praying in the Holy Ghost.
00:40:13.220
I'm just trying to build you up with these passages about the Holy Ghost being in you
00:40:21.940
The brother shall betray the brother to death and the father, the son, and children shall
00:40:25.400
rise up against their parents and shall cause them to be put to death.
00:40:30.980
And you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
00:40:36.300
He says, make sure you want to sign up for this before you sign up for it because you're
00:40:39.820
going to be hated of all men for my name's sake.
00:40:42.300
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
00:40:49.040
Which, I mean, logically, you have to get from this passage that he that doesn't endure to
00:40:56.280
But Jesus is saying he that does endure to the end, he will be saved.
00:41:02.660
But that's all I'm saying is like, you've got to know the Lord and be guided by the Lord
00:41:07.140
because in that hour, boom, he's going to give you what to speak.
00:41:10.080
That hour where you're most desperate, you're most in trouble, you're most in danger.
00:41:15.260
And that hour, whatsoever shall be given to you in that hour, that speak.
00:41:20.320
For it's not you that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
00:41:22.500
Man, I'm telling you, this concept of God living through us, that is Christianity.
00:41:31.200
This doesn't happen through cemetery school, which that's great if you go.
00:41:36.380
We're not talking about like memorizing verses.
00:41:38.560
We're talking about this relationship with God, like knowing his guidance because he lives in you.
00:41:43.400
Now we're in, let's look at Acts 13, 1 through 4 for an example of praying in the Holy Ghost.
00:41:50.900
Not the example, but one example of praying in the Holy Ghost.
00:41:59.200
Now they were in the church that was at Antioch, certain prophets and teachers,
00:42:06.380
And Lucius of Cyrene and Manan, which had been brought up with Herod the Tetrack and Saul.
00:42:13.880
As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, there's this fasting again and praying.
00:42:18.780
As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost said,
00:42:23.140
the Holy Ghost said, separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
00:42:29.400
This is what we would call apostles of the Holy Spirit, right?
00:42:33.580
People want to argue a lot if there's still apostles today.
00:42:36.400
No, only those ones that walk with Jesus were apostles.
00:42:39.340
No, this passage right here is where the Holy Spirit calls Barnabas.
00:42:43.640
And Barnabas in a later passage is referred to as an apostle.
00:42:57.480
They're not just like hanging out saying like, hey, what are we going to do for our next church service?
00:43:04.600
They're talking about like high level, heavy, weighty operations on planet Earth, man.
00:43:09.620
And as they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, separate me, Barnabas and Saul, for the work run to I have called them.
00:43:17.460
And when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
00:43:23.240
So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed into Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.
00:43:30.080
This is an example of praying in the Holy Ghost, man.
00:43:33.860
They added a third step there as well, which is interesting.
00:43:37.080
They fasted, they prayed, and they laid hands on them.
00:43:45.320
That's another level, dude, which there's a thought.
00:43:48.460
You may or may not notice this, dude, but sometimes when people are in the shop and they seem like demonized or whatever,
00:43:53.920
sometimes I will just put a hand on them because my understanding is that the Holy Spirit will flow through you.
00:44:00.100
Like, remember these passages where Paul, they take handkerchiefs and aprons off him and they put them on people and diseases leave them and demons leave them?
00:44:07.080
I believe that the Holy Spirit is even a tangible presence that absolutely, if it can go into, like, cloth material and stuff like that, it absolutely can go through me into somebody.
00:44:18.580
But even, like, my family or whatever, people, sometimes, you probably never notice, but I'll just put a hand on someone even just while I'm talking to them because I believe that.
00:44:29.540
Because I believe, like, if the Spirit of God is operational, then, yeah, he could go, like, if we had a way to measure it, we could see it or whatever, he would actually be going from me into somebody else.
00:44:39.660
If somebody thinks that's silly or prideful or whatever, I don't care.
00:44:45.080
Like, I love the Lord, and I try to live my life in the reality, like, in light of me and God.
00:44:49.600
I'm not trying to live my life in the reality of the Kardashians and Justin Bieber and the Super Bowl and the World Series and whatever's going on on the job and the Republicans did this and Democrats.
00:45:00.940
I'm just down here for 120 years, and I want to live my life in light of the reality of me and God.
00:45:06.220
Like, this is, like, this is the story of me and God, and I'm just going around the earth, and I'm just doing my thing.
00:45:14.820
Like, I'm just doing my thing, and then here's some person that's struggling.
00:45:22.000
I'm going to put my hand on them just while I'm talking to them.
00:45:29.300
Yeah, because something happens in that process.
00:45:32.580
I don't think that was just, like, some figure of speech, if you will,
00:45:35.740
or just some format that they did, like, some cold, dead formality.
00:45:39.520
Like, oh, here, we're doing this thing because it's, no, no, no.
00:45:42.200
I think they knew something was happening when they did that.
00:45:51.180
Because in Acts 7, 51, this is Stephen before the council, like, the organized religious institution that claims to represent God.
00:46:00.660
This is Stephen standing before that council, man.
00:46:04.840
You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears.
00:46:15.160
So we're not talking about resisting the Holy Ghost.
00:46:20.840
We're talking about praying in the Holy Ghost, right?
00:46:28.800
Okay, so we're building up ourselves on our most holy faith, and we're praying in the Holy Ghost.
00:46:38.660
We're getting used to this idea that he's going to be living through us and speaking through us because we are his temple, and we don't want to resist him.
00:46:45.660
We don't want to resist him by our lifestyle, by our mindset towards him.
00:46:49.880
We don't want to resist him in any of those ways.
00:46:54.240
Like, that's the ultimate human experience is the creator of the universe living through you.
00:47:08.660
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on the most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
00:47:26.760
I just want to look at this word building, just building, right?
00:47:31.380
If we're going to look at this, you've got to look at the ultimate passage on this topic.
00:49:46.340
Yeah, I had to be focused for this passage because this is heavy to me, bro.
00:50:06.720
If any man come to me and hate not his father and his mother and wife and children and brethren and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
00:50:16.740
And whosoever does not bear his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
00:50:28.620
But first and foremost, just notice that Jesus never sugarcoats it.
00:50:46.400
You've got to hate father, mother, wife, children, and brethren and your sisters and your own life also.
00:50:52.440
If you don't do that, you can't be my disciple.
00:50:55.240
Now, this is an identity passage as far as I can tell.
00:50:58.720
Like this is how people identify as within their family ranks, within their family, especially in that day.
00:51:05.160
Like today, you have family, and the kids grow up, and they all move to different countries, different states, whatever.
00:51:12.000
But like throughout time, like family was identity.
00:51:14.620
And he's saying like if you can't lose your earthly identity to be connected to me and be willing to lose all of them,
00:51:21.860
if it comes to it, to hate them in comparison to your love for me,
00:51:25.720
like if they're going to pull you away from me and you're going to go with them instead of me,
00:51:37.460
And whosoever does not bear his cross and come after me, he cannot be my disciple.
00:51:46.880
I don't think they can even get told this in church, dude.
00:51:49.060
Like if everybody who came to the show on Sunday morning got told this,
00:51:53.400
how many of them would say, yeah, I still want to sign up for that?
00:52:07.720
Which of you intending to build a tower sits not down first and counts the cost,
00:52:13.920
Less happily, after he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish it,
00:52:19.900
And this man began to build and wasn't even able to finish.
00:52:23.400
Or what king goes to make war against another king, sits not down first,
00:52:27.620
and consults whether he be able with 10,000 to meet him that comes against him with 20,000?
00:52:32.360
Or else while the other is yet a great way off,
00:52:34.500
he sends an embassage and desires conditions of peace.
00:52:37.880
So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsakes not all that he has cannot be my disciple.
00:52:43.320
This is one of those stories from Jesus that could apply both ways, dude.
00:53:01.580
Which of you intending to build doesn't sit down and count the cost?
00:53:04.780
I've counted the cost and I'm building a church.
00:53:16.720
He has made that conscious decision to come down to planet Earth and say,
00:53:24.720
Everything it's going to cost me to surrender my ability as God.
00:53:27.440
He's never going to stop being God, but he surrendered his abilities as God.
00:53:32.180
Dude, when he came to the Earth, he was only in one place at one time.
00:53:35.360
So in that sense, like he surrendered his abilities as God.
00:53:40.460
I'm willing to do that because they're worth it.
00:53:44.020
I'm going to build a church and we're going to go to war.
00:53:50.920
I think this applies to Christians that a man has to decide.
00:54:02.380
Likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsakes not all that he has, he cannot be my disciple.
00:54:11.080
Because if you're going to sign up for this, now you're going to be building and warring.
00:54:19.120
You're going to be involved in the in the building of the church.
00:54:22.460
Like, make sure you are ready to sign up for this.
00:54:27.940
That's what he says when like you have to hate all of your family.
00:54:32.700
And it's not I don't think he means hate in the word like like you personally hate them.
00:54:36.860
But you have to be ready for like like crazy stuff's going to happen to be ready for them to hate you.
00:54:40.820
And if they do hate you, you have to be willing to say, OK, man, I'm with Jesus.
00:54:45.480
And then, bro, you see it with the Muslim nations all the time.
00:54:47.580
Like the dude Steve Masood, when he preaches here, like he forsook Islam to be a Christian.
00:54:59.240
We don't know a lot about that in this nation because like the type of Christianity that we have is a very palatable Christianity.
00:55:06.340
It's not like they don't even read these passages to say, like, make sure you're ready for this.
00:55:16.900
Invite him into your heart, even though he's on the right hand of the Father in heaven.
00:55:22.760
So we don't really have like persecution or suffering loss or family caring a whole lot.
00:55:31.500
I'm just saying like the majority of it is not like that.
00:55:41.540
That's why I'm saying the seeker friendly church with the slide in the lobby is a scandal in the eyes of a holy God because he's spending his time saying, no, no, no.
00:55:49.580
Whatever you do, count the cost before you sign up for this.
00:55:52.420
Do not sign up for this if you're not ready to forsake everything.
00:56:03.200
Let's just look at 2 Timothy 2, 1 through 4 real quick.
00:56:11.660
It goes Thessalonians, then Timothy because it's in alphabetical order.
00:56:20.020
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
00:56:25.380
And the things that you have heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also.
00:56:38.620
I wish we could build up a generation that would operate like this, man.
00:56:46.460
The things that you heard from me, now you go commit to faithful men.
00:56:55.280
Don't just give it to anybody because they're the local guy that will donate a lot of money to the church.
00:57:04.960
The things that you heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also.
00:57:11.060
It goes from me, Timothy, to you, to them, to the next generation, man.
00:57:18.300
You, therefore, endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
00:57:23.840
If you never got told that, you have to know that.
00:57:29.340
You, therefore, endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
00:57:32.540
No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life that he may please him who have chosen him to be a soldier.
00:57:41.020
Imagine if you went to war in Iraq or Afghanistan, and just in the middle of the war, you're out there, like, shooting, and then you just kind of take your stuff off, and you just kind of go do whatever you're going to do at the local bar and go in the grocery store.
00:57:52.480
You start living like a civilian, like you're not even at war.
00:57:55.320
He's saying that's what the Christian life is like.
00:58:00.820
And then just drop your weapons and go walking off to the grocery store in the local bar.
00:58:05.600
No man that wars, no soldier, entangles himself with the affairs of this life.
00:58:10.680
Don't be entangled with the affairs of this world.
00:58:13.140
No man having put his hand to the plow and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.
00:58:19.260
You have to make sure you want to do this because you're in a war.
00:58:23.120
If you sign up for Christianity, your life is going to be spent building and warring.
00:58:31.640
I mean, backsliders within the church is a different connotation than what I'm kind of taking from here,
00:58:36.720
where it's like, if you backslide and you don't go to the church, they look at you in a certain way.
00:58:40.840
But this has more consequences for the backslider.
00:58:45.280
Actual consequences, not just somebody who doesn't go to a place anymore.
00:58:50.240
You sign up for this and then forsake the king.
00:58:55.560
He's warned you a bunch of times, like, make sure you're ready to sign up for this before you sign up.
00:59:00.520
He's doing everything he can to say, like, don't sign up for this.
00:59:04.140
This is like the exact opposite of modern Christianity, bro.
00:59:07.320
He's saying, like, dude, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:59:09.440
It'll be worse for you if you sign up for this and then forsake me.
00:59:12.040
So just make real sure before you sign up for this.
00:59:19.700
You can jump in the little bounce house and have a good old time.
00:59:23.680
He said, whoa, whoa, whoa, before you do this, just make sure you're willing to forsake everything or don't do it.
00:59:29.420
Here's the ultimate example of, like, what happens if you're not building or warring, right?
00:59:40.220
Two kings, sorry, 2 Samuel 11, starting in verse 1.
00:59:45.400
And it came to pass after the year was expired at the time when kings go forth to battle that David sent Job and his servants with him in all Israel.
00:59:54.000
And they destroyed the children of Ammon and besieged Rabbah.
00:59:59.500
And it came to pass in an evening tide that David arose from off his bed and walked upon the roof of the king's house.
01:00:06.360
And from the roof, he saw a woman washing herself.
01:00:10.820
Sometimes I think about humanity and things don't change.
01:00:13.380
Like, this was porn in that day, like pornography.
01:00:17.420
Like, it's almost like the king kind of set up his setup so that he could, like, kind of go see stuff whenever he wanted.
01:00:25.420
I just think that that spirit is so heavy on people, man.
01:00:28.340
Like, this porn and desiring to watch the sex or have access to sex and sexiness all the time.
01:00:34.680
Like, it's like, yeah, only kings really had it like that before, dude.
01:00:39.880
Well, did David set that up or did Saul set that up?
01:00:42.260
And it's like, that's an interesting idea because that's a structure that's in place already.
01:00:52.320
That's just what I think of, dude, is that, like, imagine, like, only kings had access to porn in that day.
01:00:58.560
Like, even when I was a kid, if you wanted porn, you had to go into, like, a gas station or you had to have a buddy's dad that you, like, stole it from, like, a magazine or something.
01:01:05.480
Like, now any human on the planet can just start pushing buttons on his phone and have it.
01:01:14.160
Like, again, when you guys talk about times where it's hard to be a Christian, I always say this is the most dangerous time and place ever in humanity to be a Christian.
01:01:24.940
So we could either go, like, to the highest level or to the lowest level.
01:01:28.660
But it's going to be on steroids, whichever way we go.
01:01:33.140
And one said, bro, isn't this Bathsheba, the daughter of Elyon, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
01:01:43.740
And she came in unto him, and he lay with her, for she was purified from her uncleanness.
01:01:50.320
And the woman conceived and sent and told David and said, I'm with a child.
01:01:58.300
And David sent to Job, saying, send me Uriah the Hittite.
01:02:03.380
And when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how Job did and how the people did and how the war prospered.
01:02:08.320
And David said to Uriah, go down to your house and wash your feet.
01:02:11.600
And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king.
01:02:16.520
So David's like, hey, man, go down and see your wife.
01:02:22.600
But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord and didn't go down to his house.
01:02:32.940
Sorry, this passage is hard for me to read sometimes, man.
01:02:35.840
And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said to Uriah, came us down not from your journey?
01:02:46.100
And Uriah said unto David, the ark in Israel and Judah abide in tents.
01:02:49.820
And my lord Job and the servants of my lord are encamped in the open fields.
01:02:54.100
You think I'm just then going to go into my house to eat and drink and lay with my wife?
01:02:58.980
As thou live and as thy soul lives, I will not do this thing.
01:03:04.640
I just, like, at this point, it's like, does Uriah know?
01:03:07.820
I've thought about this passage so many times, dude.
01:03:13.960
Like, the entire military of the armies of the kingdom of God is out there in the field.
01:03:24.240
And David said to Uriah, tear you here today also and tomorrow I'll let you depart.
01:03:27.900
So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day and tomorrow.
01:03:30.420
And when David had called him again, he did eat and drink before him and he made him drunk.
01:03:36.060
Like, dude, David's doing everything he can to destroy this guy's character,
01:03:40.220
to crush him, to bring him down to David's level in this situation.
01:03:44.620
This is what's hard about this is, like, it just feels like this is, like, not like David.
01:03:50.300
It's the more you read of his life, before and after, it's just, it's a lot.
01:03:55.140
And it came to pass in the morning that David wrote a letter to Job and sent it by the hand of Uriah.
01:04:02.560
Dude, he doesn't even go down to, like, look at Bathsheba.
01:04:07.040
Like, not only is he not going to lay with her, he doesn't even go there to, like, look at her and just say,
01:04:13.000
It came to pass in the morning that David wrote a letter to Job, who's in charge of the army,
01:04:19.200
Set Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle and retire from him, that he may be smitten and die.
01:04:29.940
Like, people knew, because she sent to David to say, Hey, I have a child.
01:04:36.780
I just have this sneaking suspicion Uriah knew, and so, like, they sit down to eat,
01:04:41.340
and they're almost having, like, a stare down at the meal.
01:04:43.560
Well, you gotta, you also gotta think, yeah, there's messages being sent back and forth.
01:04:54.460
And David's pissed, because Uriah punked him and put him in his place.
01:04:59.120
And it came to pass when Job observed the city that he assigned Uriah to a place where he knew that valiant men were.
01:05:04.380
And the men of the city went out and fought with Job, and there fell some of the people of the servants of David.
01:05:11.340
So now he's banged his wife, impregnated her, tried to get him drunk to go lay with her,
01:05:17.420
tried to just give him a bunch of food to have a feast,
01:05:19.820
so that when the child's born, they can say it's Uriah's child.
01:05:29.340
One of the greatest men of God that's ever existed?
01:05:34.960
Then Job sent and told David all the things concerning the war and charged the messenger,
01:05:38.740
saying, when you have made an end to telling the matters of the war unto the king,
01:05:44.280
because, like, the war is not going the way he wants it to.
01:05:47.960
Wherefore I approached you so close unto the city when you did fight?
01:05:51.520
Would you not know that they would shoot from the wall?
01:05:58.640
Did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall that he died in Thebes?
01:06:06.060
then just hurry up and say to him that your servant Uriah died also.
01:06:11.200
So the messenger went and came and showed David all that Job had sent him for.
01:06:15.540
Surely the men prevailed against us and came out unto us in the field.
01:06:18.620
And we were upon them, even unto the entering of the gate.
01:06:21.020
And the shooters shot from off the wall upon the servants.
01:06:25.620
and your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
01:06:39.960
And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah, her husband, was dead,
01:07:03.080
This is one of these passages you wish, like, didn't exist.
01:07:05.880
Like, you literally wish, like, when you read this whole story,
01:07:08.440
you're like, I just wish this story wasn't here.
01:07:10.960
I've read this story to my kids, like, their whole life growing up.
01:07:14.760
just so everybody understands, like, this is part of the Bible.
01:07:17.320
This is another one of those passages that, like,
01:07:19.660
you wouldn't put in a book if you were just trying to start a religion.
01:07:26.060
Like, why would you put, like, a story like this
01:07:30.000
I'm going to keep reading all the way through 18.
01:07:42.400
The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds,
01:07:45.060
but the poor man had nothing save one little ewe lamb,
01:07:52.440
and it grew up together with him and with his children,
01:07:55.240
and did eat of his own meat and drank of his own cup
01:07:57.600
and lay in his bosom and was unto him as a daughter.
01:08:00.060
So this rich guy, he's got tons of flocks and herds,
01:08:03.560
he's got one lamb that lives in his house with him.
01:08:16.700
to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him.
01:08:26.860
not even for himself, just for some traveling stranger.
01:08:34.640
and David's anger was greatly kindled against the man.
01:08:40.620
the man that has done this thing shall surely die.
01:08:55.400
David's lucky that God's more merciful than David.
01:09:23.480
I would moreover have given unto thee anything.
01:09:28.580
I would have given unto thee such and such things.
01:09:30.240
Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the Lord
01:09:35.760
You've killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword,
01:09:39.400
and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
01:09:49.020
Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house.
01:09:51.880
Like, when you hear the story of Israel from this point on, dude,
01:09:55.100
this has affected everything in the history of Israel now.
01:10:01.340
where now we end up with, like, Judah and Benjamin on the one,
01:10:04.600
and then you end up with all of, like, Israel proper on the other.
01:10:06.760
This is the beginning of all of the divide and the chaos and the madness.
01:10:10.780
Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house,
01:10:20.380
And you've taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.
01:10:24.460
Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house.
01:10:29.780
God goes to lengths to make sure you understand he's the one bringing it.
01:10:35.100
Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house.
01:10:38.780
And I'll take your wives before your eyes and give them unto your neighbor.
01:10:42.520
And he shall lie with your wives in the side of the sun.
01:10:46.220
but I'm going to do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.
01:10:53.080
This is what we do love about David, though, man.
01:10:58.320
Like, remember, Saul was king, and he just made excuses.
01:11:00.880
As soon as he was presented with his sin, he made excuses.
01:11:04.840
When he's presented with the sin, he repents, man.
01:11:16.300
Because remember, David's curse against the man was that he must die.
01:11:20.740
And then, no, David's probably looking at Nathan going like this.
01:11:29.740
So do you think that that was also available to Saul?
01:11:31.800
I mean, although he wouldn't have taken that route.
01:11:35.440
I wouldn't say always available, but it was up to a certain point.
01:11:42.200
because it's like sometimes, you know, God spoke directly to David.
01:11:48.060
He chose to bring Nathan as if to say, hey, David, Nathan, like, you guys are boys.
01:11:52.960
David, you can trust Nathan, like, with your life.
01:11:58.300
Like, God can speak to you directly, but he'll send somebody else
01:12:00.660
just so he can build his church, just so he can build his body.
01:12:08.380
So he brought David and Nathan together like this.
01:12:12.960
Because by this deed, you have given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme.
01:12:17.480
The child also that is born unto you shall surely die.
01:12:20.240
And Nathan departed unto his house, and the Lord struck the child.
01:12:24.660
A lot of people's theology won't allow for this verse right here.
01:12:30.900
Nathan departed unto his house, and the Lord struck the child.
01:12:33.540
That Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
01:12:43.200
And David fasted and went in and lay all night upon the earth.
01:12:46.060
And the elders of his house arose and went to him to raise him up from the earth.
01:12:53.880
And it came to pass on the seventh day that the child died.
01:12:59.160
Okay, so that's the story of David and Bathsheba.
01:13:01.860
If you've never heard it, like, you need to know that that story exists.
01:13:14.060
Like I said, this is like this gut-wrenching story to me.
01:13:21.960
The thing that David had done displeased the Lord.
01:13:24.200
And I just remember reading that one time and saying, like, what thing?
01:13:31.300
Like, let's look at this story and, like, how many things is there, man?
01:13:47.840
It's nine months later until David repents, bro.
01:14:07.820
It came to pass at the time after the year was expired,
01:14:14.440
This is the time when kings go forth to battle.
01:14:20.500
He sent Job and his servants with him and all Israel,
01:14:22.700
and they destroyed the children of Ammon and besieged Rabbah.
01:14:29.160
A man of God has to be either building or warring.
01:14:34.880
some people would say, with, like, duct tape and prayer.
01:14:38.900
If you're not in a war, you need to be building.
01:14:41.040
This entire story, which is, like, the worst story to read,
01:15:00.740
Like, if you're not growing, it's because you're dead.
01:15:04.980
and that's what Jesus is laying down in that Luke 14 passage, man.
01:15:08.700
Count the cost, because as soon as you sign up for this,
01:15:27.940
We're trying to be more intentional about what exactly are we building.
01:15:31.420
Do we just want something that people think is cool?
01:15:50.640
That's a tough thing, and it all comes back to idleness.
01:15:54.240
And, like, sometimes people accept idleness or laziness like it's okay,
01:15:57.740
but the Bible doesn't accept idleness or laziness like it's okay.
01:16:07.240
You're going to be building and warring until the end.
01:16:09.700
And if you're not doing one, you need to be doing the other.
01:16:12.580
And if you're not doing that one, you need to be doing the other one.
01:16:15.460
And if you're just idle, you have to ask yourself, like, what am I doing?
01:16:19.540
Am I warring because there's a kingdom of light and a kingdom of darkness?
01:16:24.320
Which, hopefully, for most of us, it'll be building, building, building with less time of war.
01:16:29.400
Hopefully, the majority of our life, we're not just constantly warring, warring, warring, warring.
01:16:42.140
Are we warring with people that are never going to get it?
01:16:46.160
Are we warring with people who are on our team, but now we're fighting over, like, the minutia?
01:16:50.140
Like, yeah, who is our war really against and what are we really doing?
01:16:53.260
We need to be very mindful of this because we don't want to have, like, say, David, Nathan comes to David.
01:16:58.580
David, God has sent Nathan to make them tight, and then David starts bickering with Nathan and fighting with Nathan.
01:17:05.940
I didn't send you guys to fight with one another.
01:17:14.060
The same way Noah was building an ark, we're building a church today.
01:17:34.420
And I really hope that through all of this, we've been noticing, like, that, like, for example, verse 21 says, keep yourselves.
01:17:45.160
Verse 24 says, now, to him that is able to keep you.
01:17:50.640
There's always this balance of, like, keep yourselves, but just keep in mind you can't.
01:18:03.500
It doesn't say put yourselves in the love of God.
01:18:09.680
Like we read in Mark already, he that endures unto the end.
01:18:15.480
One of the hard things about endurance is, like, you can't lose it.
01:18:18.080
You can't use it or learn it in, like, cemetery school.
01:18:21.540
The only way to build endurance in the Christian walk is to endure.
01:18:28.860
Like, you can't build it any other way than enduring.
01:18:34.920
Like, the only way to build endurance is to endure.
01:18:47.960
Make sure your life, make sure that your life is, like, well-kept.
01:18:53.400
You know how, like, when the bug company comes here, they always come in and they go,
01:19:03.360
They're like, you know, we go into some restaurants.
01:19:08.700
We understand the concept of, like, a well-kept coffee shop or, like, a woman who keeps her
01:19:34.200
This is not a thing that you just do and then put away.
01:19:36.940
This is something that you do every day consistently, ritually.
01:19:44.180
But that's why, like, real preaching is encouraging and bringing things up and bringing things
01:19:48.700
to people's memory, things they may already know.
01:19:52.120
It's not enough just this one-day-a-week thing.
01:19:55.320
Like, if there is going to be buildings that people pay for, land and buildings that people
01:19:59.000
pay for, at least have something in there seven days a week.
01:20:02.840
Like, at least have something going on for people to come in.
01:20:06.700
Maybe some people can only make it on Tuesdays.
01:20:13.160
But have stuff going on, like, seven days a week, like, helping people, because this
01:20:18.280
is a big thing, man, to keep themselves in the love of God, to keep themselves on track.
01:20:25.040
In defense of the church, I will say some of them do.
01:20:29.080
It's not, like, typically what the people in the United States expect of the church.
01:20:38.320
They are doing stuff, a lot of them, a lot of days a week.
01:20:44.140
And I think, I don't know why the misconception is there.
01:20:50.040
If you build them up with this idea that, like, we're going to have pizza parties and
01:20:53.140
bounce houses and slides in the lobby, then that's what you end up with.
01:21:05.780
So if all you do is this foo-foo message, then you just bring in a ton of people that
01:21:12.220
But if you bring people in on the truth, because some people say, oh, yeah, but this
01:21:15.520
501c3 system is good for newbies, like new people.
01:21:23.820
But if you build them up on a fake faith in the beginning, then was it really
01:21:31.600
He goes hard, like right from the jump, says, make sure before you even think about signing
01:21:36.160
up for this, make sure you're willing to sacrifice your entire being for this.
01:21:42.040
So if you don't bring them in like that, don't be surprised that they don't live like
01:21:46.100
Don't be surprised that they don't stay the course.
01:21:47.960
Don't be surprised that they're weak, soft people 20, 30 years down the road.
01:21:55.240
That raises the question of, are we meeting people where they're at or are you showing
01:22:04.100
And there's this misconception, man, that like there's these so-called seeker friendly
01:22:10.220
Like nobody can come to God unless he draws them first.
01:22:13.680
So there's not really even such a thing as a seeker.
01:22:16.180
Like the only way you're seeking is if God's drawing you.
01:22:20.260
So if you're trying to make up this thing to get people to like it, bro, you're bringing
01:22:25.680
Like you're bringing them in on something fake.
01:22:28.080
But if God is really drawing somebody, then just preach the word of God with fire.
01:22:32.240
Bring it, bring the fire and hammer and just preach hard.
01:22:35.120
Just bring it to it because those people God's drawing, they'll respond to the truth.
01:22:41.480
Like all the people that are responding to playtime, that's, that's not good.
01:22:47.900
Looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life, right?
01:22:55.680
Like you're saying, we've been talking about goals.
01:23:01.180
But we're looking with the goal in view, the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal
01:23:07.940
John 17, three, that they may know thee, the only true God and Jesus Christ who now has
01:23:18.980
Not knowing doctrine, not knowing theology, which is great.
01:23:33.760
I don't know that a lot of people necessarily understand this concept.
01:23:39.560
I know a lot of people don't understand this concept.
01:23:47.100
Notice you would think right here where it says, uh, when the eye is evil, that like on
01:24:05.760
the sentence before that, it would have said, uh, the opposite.
01:24:10.080
It would have said when your eye is good, right?
01:24:13.760
You think you'd have like when your eye is good and when your eye is evil, but Jesus uses
01:24:20.400
And he compares that was when your eye is evil, the light of the body is the eye.
01:24:25.680
Therefore, when your eye is single, your whole body is full of light.
01:24:28.820
But when your eye is evil, the body is full of darkness.
01:24:31.900
Is he talking about aim, aim, like what it's focused on, it's singularly focused on one
01:24:36.720
thing rather than the evil being a multitude of things.
01:24:43.880
Take heed, therefore, that the light which is in you be not darkness.
01:24:47.800
So you could have that light in you, but it's darkness.
01:24:53.400
If thy whole body, therefore, be full of light, having no part dark, single, right?
01:25:05.600
If your whole body, therefore, be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall
01:25:09.200
be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle does give thee light.
01:25:16.880
Hebrews 12, 2 says, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, right?
01:25:46.280
What are we talking about when we say Jesus plus?
01:25:52.240
Was he talking to the lost nations that didn't know God?
01:26:03.620
You can't serve God, the true living God, and Baal.
01:26:09.120
That your eye's not single if you're serving God and Baal.
01:26:12.020
You know, we have a system today that incorporates Jesus, but worships all kinds of other stuff.
01:26:21.160
Yeah, Jesus is incorporated, but we're also going to worship Mary or venerate Mary, saints, all these other things.
01:26:31.900
All these things keep coming back to it must be just Jesus.
01:26:35.780
It must be God who you're serving, not God plus something else.
01:26:40.800
Like in my own story, I remember reading a book on world religions that my brother had, and I was like reading this stuff.
01:26:54.840
I was like, oh, that's cool, and then I'll just like kind of read the Bible, too, and I'll kind of mix them together.
01:27:02.620
And then I got a Bible, and I was like, oh, dude, this does not mix.
01:27:08.560
Two things that came over me when I first got a Bible, I was like, this does not mix with anything else, and this is definitely the truth.
01:27:16.180
I don't know what to do with it, but this is definitely the truth.
01:27:18.580
Not only does it not mix, I'd say that it stands in contradiction to most of, like, yeah, everything, even its closest brother, Judaism.
01:27:33.460
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
01:27:36.140
Some people, like, they commit adultery, and they say, oh, but David did, like the story we just read.
01:27:43.780
It says looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
01:27:53.560
What the chick said with the Palladian Jesus or something, or the Ascended Master, or whatever.
01:28:18.340
Because I really want to unpack this looking thing.
01:28:27.220
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted.
01:28:33.320
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
01:28:52.900
As Moses lifted the serpent, that's what he's referencing.
01:28:55.940
He's saying, in the same way shall the Son of Man be lifted up, that whosoever believes on him will be saved.
01:29:07.660
And they journeyed from the Mount Hor by the way over the Red Sea to compass the land of Edom.
01:29:14.900
And the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.
01:29:18.320
And the people spoke against God and against Moses.
01:29:21.880
Wherefore have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness?
01:29:24.800
For there's no bread, neither is there any water.
01:29:38.380
And they bit the people, and much people of Israel died.
01:29:41.420
Therefore the people came to Moses and said, we have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord.
01:29:47.320
Pray unto the Lord that he take away the serpents from us.
01:29:50.360
And Moses prayed for the people as a true intercessor.
01:29:53.500
They hated Moses, and he would still intercede for them.
01:29:55.500
And the Lord said unto Moses, make a fiery serpent and set it upon a pole, and it shall come to pass that everyone that is bitten, when he looks upon it, shall live.
01:30:07.700
And Moses made a serpent of brass and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass that if a serpent had bitten any man when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
01:30:19.900
Notice that in this story, it's anyone who looks upon it.
01:30:23.220
But when Jesus tells it, he said, it's any man who believes.
01:30:27.200
Like, there's this connection between what you're continually looking at and focused on.
01:30:35.360
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
01:30:38.020
And there is this connection between what your gaze is on, what your focus is on.
01:31:03.700
He's saying, like, in the same way Moses did it, he lifted up the serpent of brass that was a type of Christ.
01:31:12.040
In the same way, if you believe, if you have faith, you'll be saved.
01:31:37.020
If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above.
01:31:40.580
Like, seek, look at, focus on, set your gaze upon, those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God.
01:31:50.080
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
01:31:54.540
Stop with your focus being on the things of the earth, because you are dead and your life is hid with Christ and God.
01:31:59.560
When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory.
01:32:05.620
So set your affections on things above, not on things of the earth.
01:32:16.640
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of the Lord, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.
01:32:34.420
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be?
01:32:41.220
Should you be acting like all the stuff in the temporary realm is really that important?
01:32:45.560
Seeing then that all these things are going to be dissolved, you know, like in the Avenger movie when the guy goes like that and the stuff just goes, whoosh.
01:32:52.040
Hey, man, all this stuff's going to dissolve like that.
01:32:54.320
Okay, if you know that, what should you be acting like in your life?
01:32:58.580
Should you really be so focused on living in a mansion and having the fancy boat and having the fancy truck and having all the fancy stuff?
01:33:08.040
I'm not saying it's bad if you have those things, but is that your focus?
01:33:10.780
What manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conversation and godliness?
01:33:17.420
Looking for and hasting under the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.
01:33:27.260
Nevertheless, we, according to his promise, look for.
01:33:33.600
New heavens and a new earth wherein dwells righteousness.
01:33:36.100
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found of him in peace without spot and blameless.
01:33:46.640
This is what Jude's talking about in the beginning.
01:33:51.140
He's saying, be diligent that you may be found of him in peace without spot and blameless.
01:33:56.280
All right, so we're looking for the king and therefore his kingdom.
01:34:06.920
Like these passages that are talking about looking for this coming kingdom and new heavens and new earth, that's simply because we're looking at the king and that's his kingdom.
01:34:21.820
If you look at the sigil of Lucifer, it's the diagram of the eyeball, which is actually very interesting.
01:34:29.260
I don't know who made it, but the sideways diagram of an eyeball and how vision comes into the cornea and reflects back, that's actually the sigil of Lucifer.
01:34:37.740
It's kind of like a triangle with a circle there.
01:34:41.040
So it's almost like whatever is coming into your eyes, that's like this weird temptation.
01:34:46.880
I feel like this might also be the battle that we're constantly fighting.
01:34:49.600
It's like the things that we have to perceive, we have to perceive it as one with God, but the way we're designed in this physical realm, it is coming through this, like it's coming through this physical realm that we're perceiving it first in this weird way that is not.
01:35:11.000
I mean, imagine a couple hundred years ago, you live on a farm, you're only perceiving like what's going on around you in the natural world and like what you have access to right in front of your face.
01:35:20.420
Bro, we have access to stuff from around the planet right now at all times, like from this, like it's with us all the time.
01:35:29.340
Like from the things coming into your eyeballs to what's perceived by our bodies inside of our temple, it's almost impossible, dude.
01:35:38.220
Some would say it is impossible unless God is living through you.
01:35:44.640
You can't fulfill the requirements of the law in your own being, in yourself.
01:35:54.400
We're not, it's not like we're Christians and that makes us really good at not doing bad stuff.
01:35:58.340
It's like, no, we're Christians and we've surrendered our whole being to God and let him live through us.
01:36:04.060
Okay, so now we're in 22 and 23, which says, and of some have compassion, making a difference, and others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
01:36:15.960
So there's this concept that like you're not going to live this Christian life alone without saving and helping others, right?
01:36:26.520
Like Christian life is spent helping others, guiding others, saving others out of the fire, right?
01:36:32.740
Let's look at 1 Corinthians 9, 19 through 23 to see how Paul kind of explains this.
01:36:37.540
It says, for though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all that I might gain the more.
01:36:47.080
That's Paul's life summed up actually in a sentence.
01:36:49.760
For though I be free, I don't know anybody anything.
01:36:56.180
But even at that, I've made myself a servant unto everyone.
01:36:59.800
Not to some, not just to big shots, not to people who can give something back to me.
01:37:03.560
I've made myself a servant to all of humanity, even though I don't owe anybody anything.
01:37:18.000
Are people willing to become as a Jew to save the Jews?
01:37:23.000
And under the Jews, I became as a Jew that I might gain the Jews.
01:37:27.060
To them that are under the law is under the law that I might gain them that are under the law.
01:37:33.560
Like, I think an easier way for us to understand this today is like, are you so much of a Republican that you can't win a Democrat to Christ?
01:37:48.680
You're welcome in my church as long as you're just like me.
01:37:53.720
Just with people who are like, yeah, we want you to come to our church as long as you're just like me.
01:37:57.080
Like, if you're a homeless person or just even a poor person, but you have a house and maybe you have different political views, different socioeconomic status, we don't really want you in our church.
01:38:10.280
Paul's saying, like, am I so much of a Republican that I can't win Democrats?
01:38:14.080
Do I love the Georgia Bulldogs so much that I can't win somebody who's an Alabama fan?
01:38:50.900
Not in the hope I'm going to save all of humanity, but that I might at least rescue one or two, man, out of the fire.
01:39:00.420
This I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
01:39:09.120
We've got to save some with compassion and some with fear.
01:39:11.480
But we've got to live our life in such a way that we're a sacrifice to save others.
01:39:17.040
Like, you guys make fun of me because I talk to everybody.
01:39:22.520
This is probably really where I got a lot of it from, was just, like, reading the scripture and being like, okay, I get what Paul's saying.
01:39:28.540
He's saying, like, find common ground with humans.
01:39:33.920
Don't be so much of a Republican that you can't save Democrats.
01:39:37.240
Don't be so much of a Georgia Bulldog fan that you can't save Alabama fans.
01:39:40.160
Like, don't be so tied to anything in the earth, man, that you can't save.
01:39:44.520
No matter what it takes, come hell or high water, save some.
01:39:47.480
I'm willing to sacrifice everything that I might save some.
01:40:02.640
Continue in them, for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself and them that hear thee.
01:40:15.040
Take heed unto yourself and unto the doctrine, the teaching, which you've gotten.
01:40:23.940
Because if you continue in it and doing this, you'll save yourself.
01:40:28.180
As you continue in that life, you're going to save the others that hear you.
01:40:35.440
You've got to understand there's other people whose lives are at stake depending on how you walk this out.
01:40:52.060
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that everyone may receive the things done in his body.
01:40:59.160
According to that, he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
01:41:04.340
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.
01:41:07.320
But we are made manifest unto God, and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
01:41:13.400
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.
01:41:17.600
Others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire.
01:41:20.400
Knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.
01:41:23.940
Like, this is not our modern churches preaching the terror of the Lord and persuading men.
01:41:32.360
We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
01:41:38.720
Not Jesus, the buddy that you do the high fives and you go through the McDonald's drive-thru and get saved and it just happens that quick.
01:41:45.220
We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that everyone may receive the things done in his body, in his life, in his entire being.
01:41:53.600
According to that, he has done, whether it's good or bad.
01:41:56.400
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.
01:42:00.040
Like, we know the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.
01:42:19.560
People think that, like, spirit realm stuff is just la-la-la.
01:42:31.220
Like, all of the structures that we have here, this is just the shadow of the things in the unseen, man.
01:42:36.440
I wanted to ask you, when we read the scripture about Jesus, like, Jesus came and he came in this body, even though he's kind of like, I don't really want to, like, I'm giving up a lot to come here.
01:42:48.660
I was, like, way better off in this other realm.
01:42:50.920
But these other entities seem to revel in being in this realm.
01:43:00.640
I mean, dude, if they know that, remember, hell was made for Satan and his angels.
01:43:07.360
This story is going to come to an end at some point.
01:43:09.520
They have a limited amount of time to take as drag as many people with them to hell as they can.
01:43:15.820
And ultimately, hell, which gets thrown in the lake of fire.
01:43:23.980
These are different ways that the Bible describes the ultimate destination for those who don't know God.
01:43:29.020
Kirk Cameron doesn't see it that way, but all right.
01:43:35.280
It's, like, just taking as many with them as they can.
01:43:42.340
Like, humans have an idea that this story is real, the Bible's real, but they don't want to deal with the reality of that.
01:43:47.200
They just want to keep living how they want to live.
01:43:52.500
You know, it's just like, yeah, that's, like, this fun way to live, man.
01:43:55.860
And it's just live in chaos and sin and drag others to hell with them.
01:44:06.620
This is, like, another heavy passage for me, man, that I just remember from a long time ago.
01:44:16.180
Now, when much time was spent and when sailing was now dangerous because the fast was now already passed, Paul admonished them and said unto them,
01:44:23.100
Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.
01:44:29.540
So Paul's telling these guys that are in charge of the ship that's taking him and other soldiers, other prisoners to Rome.
01:44:36.940
Hey, man, I got a bad feeling about this is what Paul's saying.
01:44:40.000
Nevertheless, the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship.
01:44:46.140
More than those things that were spoken by Paul.
01:45:01.500
And because the haven was not commodious to winter and the more part advised to depart there also,
01:45:05.660
and if by any means they might attain to Fennis and there to winter,
01:45:09.640
which is a haven of Crete and lies toward the southwest and northwest.
01:45:13.300
And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose,
01:45:20.060
So they're just, this is the story of them sailing along.
01:45:21.900
But not long after, there arose against it a tempestuous wind called Euryclidon.
01:45:26.660
And when the ship was caught and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.
01:45:30.360
You probably have some people that could come on and talk about Euryclidon.
01:45:34.160
I'm sure you've got people that know exactly what that's referring to.
01:45:39.320
And when the ship was caught and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.
01:45:42.780
And running onto a certain island, which is called Clotta, we had much work to come by the boat,
01:45:47.240
which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship and fearing lest they should fall into the quicksand.
01:45:52.100
Remember quicksand when you used to watch cartoons when you were a kid?
01:45:54.560
Because we should fall into the quicksand and strike sail, and so we're driven.
01:45:59.120
And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship.
01:46:04.460
In the third day, we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.
01:46:08.580
And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, bro, they didn't see anything but a storm for many days.
01:46:21.780
All hope that we should be saved was taken away.
01:46:29.980
But after long abstinence, Paul stood forth in the midst of them and said,
01:46:36.980
I told you in the beginning we shouldn't have did this.
01:46:43.780
He was abstaining from doing anything, just sitting watching.
01:46:49.760
That after long abstinence, it's a good question.
01:46:51.800
Yeah, like, he just kind of refrained from everything.
01:46:53.820
It's kind of funny to sit back and say, like, I told you so.
01:46:56.140
I always read it like he's just chilling, like, down below.
01:47:08.680
After long abstinence, Paul stood up in the midst and said,
01:47:11.780
Sirs, you should have listened to me and not have loosed from Crete
01:47:18.220
for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you but of the ship.
01:47:25.320
We're going to lose the ship, but take courage, guys.
01:47:31.760
Paul, because there stood by me this night the angel of God,
01:47:41.480
And lo, God hath given you all them that sail with you.
01:47:47.600
for I believe, God, that it shall be even as was told to me.
01:47:52.820
But when the 14th night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria about midnight,
01:47:57.300
the shipmen deemed that they were near to some country and sounded and found it 20 fathoms.
01:48:02.300
They could do a sound thing and see how long it took for it to come back.
01:48:07.520
And when they had gone a little further, they sounded again and found it 15 fathoms.
01:48:11.540
Then, fearing lest we should have fallen upon the rocks,
01:48:13.700
they cast four anchors out of the stern and wished for the day.
01:48:17.180
And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship,
01:48:21.300
when they had let down the boat into the sea under color,
01:48:23.780
as though they would have cast anchors out of the ship,
01:48:28.340
Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers,
01:48:30.820
except these guys abide in the ship, you cannot be saved.
01:48:36.700
Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat and let her fall off.
01:48:46.300
saying, this day is the 14th day that you have tarried and continued fasting,
01:48:54.500
for there shall not a hair from your head fall from any of you.
01:48:59.960
he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all.
01:49:04.300
Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took meat.
01:49:13.980
they lightened the ship and cast out the wheat into the sea.
01:49:18.700
but they discovered a certain creek with a shore into which they were minded,
01:49:23.580
So they're just trying to sail into this island, right into the creek.
01:49:27.960
they committed themselves under the sea and loosed the rudder bands.
01:49:31.140
And hoist up the mainsail to the wind and made towards shore.
01:49:38.400
they ran the ship aground and the forepart stuck fast and remained unmovable.
01:49:42.320
But the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.
01:49:45.700
And the soldier's counsel was to kill all the prisoners,
01:49:50.180
But the centurion, the dude who's in charge of everything,
01:50:04.680
should cast themselves first into the sea and get to land.
01:50:24.540
So, like, it wasn't pretty, but they made it, man.
01:50:32.120
Like, this is what's being said in this passage, man.
01:50:47.760
Of course, we first think about our wife, our kids.
01:50:50.900
But, like, how big is your ship and who's on it, man?
01:50:57.800
because you're not doing what you're supposed to do?
01:51:14.620
I can't believe we've done this many sessions on Jude
01:51:20.120
There's also something here I wanted to point out.
01:51:31.540
yeah, for there stood an angel by this night here,
01:51:36.140
the earlier part of what you were talking about.
01:52:27.660
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling
01:52:43.760
I just want to bring this into view again, man.
01:52:50.900
now unto him that is able to keep you from falling.
01:52:59.520
You can avoid a lot of pitfalls of the Christian life.
01:53:02.520
there's a straight gate and a narrow path, right?
01:53:13.720
hopefully if you never get drug into this conversation
01:53:49.040
We've got to learn to live in the balance of that.
01:54:13.540
Jude kind of wraps up the whole letter like this.
01:54:26.480
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ.
01:54:32.080
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ
01:54:34.520
to them that have obtained like precious faith with us.
01:54:49.440
through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
