00:00:00.000 was santa good to both of you and your families this year yes he was very busy uh even though
00:00:06.560 canada post definitely did not help him out this year so uh he had extra duty to do and
00:00:12.720 we had some good christmas parties my husband actually did the rap from die hard with run dmc
00:00:20.640 and uh william uh you you know my husband uh anybody who's ever met him uh they don't believe
00:00:25.360 me that he did the entire rap but uh how is santa uh to you noah well pretty okay the labor standards
00:00:35.120 at the uh the toy factory has been improving you know we finally uh got some uh breaks in between
00:00:41.680 our shifts at the l factory but uh no i think uh i think christmas is going to be a jolly one and
00:00:48.160 now that the canapost strike is gone we could finally send off our um seasons greetings or
00:00:54.000 whatever to the rascals in canada or whatever but uh no i'm in the spirit you are definitely
00:01:01.200 owning that elf hat noah uh william uh did santa not bring you any santa bling what is going on
00:01:07.680 it must be again an account of house warehouse waiting to get delivered i sadly don't have
00:01:12.720 uh my christmas stuff out anymore but uh you know christmas is in the heart anyway not on the head
00:01:20.480 or or or in the garments it's it's you know in your heart and that's where i keep my christmas
00:01:26.000 you don't have your christmas stuff out it's the it's the season you did you like put it away like
00:01:30.720 december 5th it's like ah you know no use for this anymore i'm that lady on the street i keep all my
00:01:36.880 stuff up to pass like candlemas i like i co-opt every other like eastern orthodox religions calendar
00:01:44.320 everything stays up till february uh but speaking of staying up and getting started let's get this
00:01:49.440 show started
00:01:58.320 welcome to a special christmas and holiday edition of off the record i'm chris sims i am uh my day job
00:02:05.680 is being the alberta director for the canadian taxpayers federation but i just finished helping
00:02:11.040 to make christmas happen so definitely in the spirit joined by my good friends from north william
00:02:16.320 and noah uh gentlemen this is a special edition uh of off the record where we are giving thanks
00:02:22.320 and reflecting on the year that was who wanted to start this off william uh you had a few things
00:02:29.200 to impart to your favorite mayor in canada is that what you told me yeah you know um
00:02:35.440 um we try and keep christmas with us all through the year so i think it's important to look back
00:02:41.280 over the last year and and in my case i wanted to look back at at beloved calgary mayor jody gondek
00:02:48.400 who you know for anyone who lives in calgary can tell you she's just the most beloved mayor calgary
00:02:55.360 has ever had so today i'm here to talk about the the four seasons of gondek you know we're going to talk
00:03:02.160 through the year that jody gondek had and it was quite one um let's start with spring in spring uh
00:03:09.360 mayor gondek said that you know being canadian means never having to own a home or never being
00:03:15.200 able to own a home but it gives you so much freedom if you don't own a home and i presume she meant
00:03:22.720 freedom from economic opportunity freedom from certainty for your future freedom from having to
00:03:30.400 have enough space to raise your family to let your kids run around in a yard and freedom to keep
00:03:35.680 paying rent so that somebody else can build up equity in a home that you don't own and you have
00:03:42.320 to wonder what was going through mayor gondek's mind when she came up with this it is actually a
00:03:47.840 reflection of uh something the world economic forum just uh another organization that so many true north
00:03:54.880 people love and and uh think so highly of when the true north when the world economic forum said in
00:04:00.880 the future you'll own nothing and you'll be happy and i remember we all thought at the time or you'll
00:04:07.440 own nothing and be miserable because you have nothing of the things that you want like a car or a home
00:04:15.520 or the savings so you can retire or even enough food to feed your family during during tough and high
00:04:22.400 economic time so so that was jody gondek's spring and uh she headed into summer summer was a great
00:04:28.560 time calgary ran out of water there was no water in calgary all summer and for days on end mayor gondek
00:04:36.000 said nothing we had no update from her and eventually when people started to burn her in effigy which
00:04:42.880 was really dangerous because there was no water to put out the fires afterwards she finally said maybe
00:04:48.640 i should have done a better job of explaining why calgary didn't have any water for weeks and weeks
00:04:55.600 on end um and then you know not to be outdone we got to the fall and jody gondek said i have searched
00:05:02.560 high and low i have read every line item in the budget and we're gonna have to raise your taxes
00:05:08.160 because there isn't a single place that we can find to cut spending and about 15 minutes later calgarians
00:05:16.000 gave her thousands of ideas for how to save money they included things like fire everybody who works
00:05:23.120 in the diversity equity and inclusion division or get rid of the climate change directorate or stop
00:05:31.760 building bike lanes that nobody uses nine nine no 90 of the time and finally because i think she had
00:05:39.040 such an incredible year reaching the lowest popularity of any mayor in calgary since polling
00:05:46.560 began jody really reaching the lowest level of popularity since polling was invented in calgary jody
00:05:55.920 gondek was named mayor of the year by a magazine none of us have ever heard of and so to me doesn't that
00:06:04.320 really just sum up i can tell you it's based in ontario this magazine i i actually think that's
00:06:10.880 pretty fitting jody gondek is a mayor for the good people of toronto maybe not the good people of
00:06:17.440 calgary who frankly if an election were held today would toss her onto the slag heap of failed former
00:06:24.880 politicians so i really loved our mayor of jody our year of jody gondek i think it just showed what a
00:06:31.200 what a wonderful leader we have in her from raising taxes to taking away our water to saying
00:06:37.600 stop wanting to own a home you aspirational people you'll be much happier if you just give into your
00:06:43.120 poverty and start to love it and finally the crowning touch an ontario-based organization
00:06:49.120 without talking to any albertans presumably made her mayor of the year so we wish jody gondek a very
00:06:55.200 happy christmas i hope she's asking for better policies and a higher public approval rating
00:07:01.040 for christmas this year from santa you know i've noticed a theme uh both with weft types and uh
00:07:07.280 the rest of them who say things like you should be really happy you're not owning a home think of the
00:07:11.280 freedom you'll have uh they they own houses it's always about the other people it's always about the
00:07:17.280 other people with these utopian champagne socialists who say that oh you little working
00:07:22.480 class peasants you don't need to own a private car you don't need to own your own home but for the rest
00:07:28.160 of us of course will continue to eat our fancy veal steak things on planes which is exactly what
00:07:34.880 prime minister justin trudeau just finished doing they spent seventy thousand dollars on food alone
00:07:40.320 to jet to europe very recently so lots to to chew on from this past year uh noah uh what was your
00:07:47.600 reflection uh for the year that was in 2024. oh you know the the one thing that i'd like to reflect
00:07:54.080 on is the rise of the conservative movement in 2024 a lot more optimistic than what william had to talk
00:07:59.840 about by the way you guys can keep contact we don't want her in ontario but um yeah so the conservative
00:08:05.520 movement has really seen a sur a resurgence in 2024 i mean this has been a while in the making after
00:08:12.640 nine years of uh prime minister justin trudeau's uh premiership and we've had uh premiers like david eby
00:08:20.160 and the ndp ruling in bc for uh over a decade uh we've seen just just an overall uh tiredness uh
00:08:30.400 that the canadian people have with left-wing leadership we have a lot of people turning
00:08:34.400 toward uh conservatism and conservative ideas we also have young people uh coming to toward the
00:08:40.080 conservative movement so there's a few things i want to highlight uh to really talk uh or to
00:08:45.440 exemplify what i mean by the rise the conservative movement well on the issue side we've had a premier
00:08:50.800 daniel smith uh taking a step forward in banning uh puberty blockers and hormone therapy uh for
00:08:58.800 children under the age of 16 in alberta and uh banding gender reassignment surgery in alberta this is
00:09:05.840 in continuation of a policy that uh the former premier uh in new brunswick blaine higgs uh had
00:09:12.240 implemented where he would uh force uh teachers to let parents know if their child is going by a
00:09:19.440 different name or different pronouns or by a different gender in school uh and we've had uh
00:09:25.120 premier scott mo express interest in doing this and we also had a conservative leader pierre polia
00:09:30.720 uh defend uh premier smith's um decision to implement the ban on preview blockers and gender reassignment
00:09:37.200 surgery for minors uh i was at the press conference in brampton where he stated um that well he was
00:09:44.000 kind of bashing a canadian press journalist uh but then he expressed his support for uh premier smith's
00:09:50.240 uh policy so it it's a it's a win for the conservative movement uh because the conservatives
00:09:56.240 have for a long time been trying to get politicians and conservative politicians in particular to react
00:10:01.440 uh to their uh wants and demands on social issues and they've had a lot a lot of difficulty getting
00:10:07.520 that done but it seems that the tide is turning and now conservative politicians are willing uh to
00:10:12.880 talk about these uh very important social issues and to take action on it the second thing i want to
00:10:18.320 talk about on the issues front is immigration uh conservative politicians for a long time have been very
00:10:23.280 cautious about talking about immigration conservative leader of peer polia before 2034 and not only didn't
00:10:28.880 really talk about cutting immigration he actually um in some comments to some uh minority groups would
00:10:35.120 say that he would like to increase uh immigration at the very least speed up approvals in the immigration
00:10:40.160 system but the conservative movement has pressed forward and you can thank um members of true north
00:10:45.440 like harrison faulkner for talking a lot about the immigration issue and um you have now uh conservative
00:10:51.840 leader peer polia promising to cut immigration uh he got one of his mps uh recently elected who
00:10:58.720 was recently elected i forget his name uh to make a video talking about the problems with the
00:11:02.560 immigration system and we also even have the federal government themselves uh talking about immigration
00:11:07.040 and the need to cut immigration and admitting that they have made a mistake uh wrapping up uh
00:11:12.160 immigration levels uh for uh new citizens to 500 000 a year uh over a million say international
00:11:17.920 students we have temporary foreign workers coming in uh really inflating the population driving down wages
00:11:23.360 and uh just overall making housing a lot less affordable so on the immigration front and on
00:11:29.920 uh the the gender issue we have conservative politicians start to talk about it and this is
00:11:34.560 translating to electoral results in british columbia we've seen the collapse of the former bc
00:11:40.320 liberal party now the bc united party who is really a centrist party a coalition between uh liberals
00:11:46.560 and conservatives federally and we've seen them being replaced by an unabashedly conservative
00:11:51.440 party the bc conservatives led by john rustad who you know in the legislature uh talk frequently
00:11:57.120 about how schools are have these books in their libraries uh that is basically pornographic they
00:12:03.280 show kids how to do disgusting things they show kids how to like masturbate and all this i don't
00:12:08.320 even like talking about it but this is important issues for politicians to tackle and this party is
00:12:13.600 the one that has formed the official opposition they almost won the election they lost by the skin of
00:12:18.160 their teeth and they're in prime position to win an election in bc uh when the next one happens we
00:12:24.240 also had in nova scotia uh progressive conservative leader uh tim houston expanding his majority the
00:12:30.320 first time that that has happened in nova scotia in several decades and he's a bit of a progressive
00:12:35.680 conservative but nonetheless it shows that the liberal party brand in especially in nova scotia is uh
00:12:42.320 dwindling it's diminishing we've seen uh scott moe get re-elected uh and we've also seen blaine higgs
00:12:49.840 get defeated uh but we have uh but there is a lot of support that was expressed for uh premier higgs
00:12:56.800 across the country and you know to cap it all off conservative party leader premier polyev is very
00:13:02.480 popular especially in contrast to justin trudeau so the rise of conservative movement has been very
00:13:07.600 fascinating to watch especially in 2024 and for conservatives like uh you and the people watching
00:13:13.040 uh this video more than likely i i think that there's a lot to be happy about um in this year
00:13:18.880 and uh and some optimism in the future on the fiscal and government accountability fronts there's been a
00:13:25.360 massive change too you can feel it it feels like an earthquake so for example i don't know if anybody
00:13:30.720 noticed but there was an election in the united states and one of the things that is happening as a
00:13:35.920 result of that is this whole department of government efficiency or doge um it's now cool to talk about
00:13:42.560 things that ron paul has been talking about now for generations uh the founder of the americans for
00:13:49.600 tax reform grover norquist said it very well he wants government to be small enough that you can drown
00:13:55.520 it in a bathtub and he says that because he wants to be able to hold government to account so if you have
00:14:03.280 smaller government a it saves you money and b it makes it easier to hold that government to account
00:14:11.840 so hearing that kind of language being used in the united states where elon musk and friends
00:14:17.600 are getting together and apparently going through line by line i just finished watching him go through
00:14:22.160 an omnibus bill which was bigger than like six new york city telephone books um to have such interest
00:14:29.840 coming from cool people the young people on social media are watching and getting influenced by it's
00:14:34.960 not just us old guard william who are watching this stuff to have to had to make smaller government great
00:14:42.720 again is wonderful to see and to have all these different political leaders including like you just
00:14:50.480 pointed out noah there in british columbia and also with the win in nova scotia and the popularity of
00:14:55.920 mr poliev all saying we need to scrap the carbon tax this is huge this is enormous because 10 years
00:15:04.720 ago it wasn't the cool thing to say and to see that we might actually get this thing finally gone
00:15:11.280 is something i am deeply thankful for for this past year so and that's because of folks who are watching
00:15:15.920 this show frankly i mean there's a tiny handful of us who are commentators in this arena it's because of
00:15:22.320 the millions of people who watch all of our shows who then send emails to their members of parliament
00:15:28.560 who phone their mp who doorknock who get out there on a wednesday night in the rain and actually do the
00:15:35.520 work that's what changes politicians minds so good job everybody for pushing for these changes uh did we
00:15:42.960 want to get to our fun naughty and nice list here from the taxpayers federation or do you have something
00:15:47.120 else to say there william i'm sorry i called you old i was just gonna jokingly say i hope that uh
00:15:53.440 cutting wasteful government spending does become the thing that everybody wants to do because it's
00:15:58.320 the cool thing including i'm hoping maybe mayor of the year jody gondek who said she couldn't find
00:16:04.720 a single place to cut spending in calgary and that's why we have to have higher taxes this year so
00:16:11.120 you know be cool jody be like the cool kids and start cutting yeah uh i don't know how much money
00:16:18.000 it costs but the city of calgary prints signs and puts them in their parks as to how to jump into a
00:16:26.240 leaf pile i'm not kidding taxpayers pay for that i didn't know how to do that wow well thank god for
00:16:34.400 government all right so every year the canadian taxpayers federation puts together a naughty and
00:16:43.520 nice list when it comes to taxpayers issues and politicians uh my friend franco terrazzano and i
00:16:49.920 presented all of this at a press conference in calgary you can go back and watch the flourish
00:16:55.600 from there if you want to see me in a different christmas outfit uh you've been warned but we wanted
00:17:01.840 to go through our naughty and nice list and open it up to you guys uh for your for your commentariat
00:17:07.600 um let's start with naughty okay so top of our naughty list for the canadian taxpayers federation
00:17:14.080 is cbc ceo and president catherine tate now i must say i was a little torn on this i kind of wanted to
00:17:23.440 put her on the nice list a little bit because nobody has done a better job making the case to defund the cbc
00:17:31.600 than catherine tate so she is presented at committee a bunch of times and each time she digs her hole
00:17:38.640 deeper so catherine tate the ceo and president of the cbc she pulls in about five hundred thousand
00:17:45.040 dollars per year she is unaccountable she refuses to say whether she will take a severance saying
00:17:50.800 that's a personal matter even though every nickel comes out of taxpayers money so the president of the
00:17:56.560 cbc catherine tate she's topping our naughty list because she wastes a ton of money and they handed
00:18:02.160 out huge bonuses last year folks who are watching might remember the fooferah this time last year
00:18:08.480 when they said oh we're broke we're broke we're so broke we're gonna hand out pink slips and layoff
00:18:12.640 notices into our newsroom i don't know by the way how many jobs were actually lost from that but
00:18:17.280 they handed out the slips nonetheless right after that they turned around and handed out the bonuses
00:18:23.280 18 million dollars worth so much so that groups cheerleading groups of the cbc like friends of
00:18:29.520 canadian media said that this is uh unbecoming of a public broadcaster to do so so good job catherine
00:18:36.000 good job catherine tate you're topping the naughty list for the taxpayers federation uh prime minister
00:18:41.600 justin trudeau i mean take a reason pretty obvious pick a reason yeah exactly uh this year we're giving
00:18:49.120 it to him for a few different reasons namely officially doubling the debt so the national debt
00:18:55.360 picture all of the previous prime ministers harper mulrooney the first trudeau diefen baker all the way
00:19:02.560 down the railroad to sir john a imagine their world wars their great depressions imagine the debts
00:19:11.040 incurred double it that's what this trudeau has done in less than 10 years so prime minister justin
00:19:18.160 trudeau definitely on our naughty list and lastly this may come out as a bit of a surprise but ontario
00:19:23.760 premier doug ford made the list so in one nice thing is that premier ford has kept his fuel tax cut
00:19:30.880 going so that's nice but there's a big one he broke a big promise premier ford said he would get rid of
00:19:37.840 what we would call political welfare or what people call the per vote subsidy some folks may not realize
00:19:44.720 this but taxpayers money is going directly to political parties we don't care if it's the
00:19:52.400 conservatives or the ndp or the green party or remember the yogic flyers do you remember that
00:19:57.680 back in the day william yeah so sorry noah there used to be this party back in the 80s and they
00:20:04.720 used to do crazy yoga i'm not joking you think you're making this up you're like you're pulling
00:20:08.800 my leg no go back and look it up uh hennig yoga doug hennig was that his name i think it was the
00:20:14.480 natural law party black natural law party so my point is we don't care which political party it is
00:20:21.200 you shouldn't be taking taxpayers money but unfortunately premier ford is extending
00:20:26.800 their tenure of taking ontario taxpayers money and giving it to political parties not just his
00:20:32.880 but all political parties in ontario so yeah your tax dollars are going for those lawn signs and junk
00:20:38.240 mail that everybody loves so that's a the key players on our naughty list for this year let's end
00:20:44.800 on a nice note though i'm sorry any any thoughts on our naughty list anybody that you guys would like to
00:20:49.520 pinch in there as a nomination i mean i had to laugh at justin trudeau because you know i'm quite sure
00:20:56.400 as a prime minister comes to the end of his time in office he often thinks about his legacy and at
00:21:03.600 least when it comes to the debt he gets to say i've done more than all of the prime ministers of canada
00:21:12.000 before me combined and that's a claim few prime ministers can make now it turns out in this case
00:21:19.520 it's indebting the country and millions of future generations but at least he can say i've done more
00:21:25.520 than all of my predecessors combined i'm sure that will that will make him feel warm and cuddly as he
00:21:31.200 lies in his taxpayer funded bed eating his taxpayer funded food and flying on his taxpayer funded jets
00:21:38.720 know what yeah i want to comment on ford because he is not he's been pretty disappointing since he got
00:21:45.680 elected i remember in 2018 i wasn't even following politics that closely in 2018 but he promised to
00:21:51.680 you know get rid of uh the sex ed curriculum in schools and he promised to cut taxes and he hasn't
00:21:56.880 done either of those things and specifically uh he just instead of cutting taxes he's gonna send 200
00:22:03.680 rebate checks to every ontarian now i i don't know about you but i don't think the average canadian
00:22:09.040 household um is going to be held over by 200 bucks uh when they're being gouged at the pump
00:22:15.520 or and they're being gouged at the grocery store not by the corporations but by the inflationary
00:22:21.760 policies of governments so just you know crapping up this 200 these 200 when you know the
00:22:28.240 province is already in debt and we are funding this 200 with taxpayer dollars and you know even if we're
00:22:35.760 funding it through debt we're still gonna have to pay back that debt at a later date plus all the
00:22:40.160 debt servicing charges so in the long run we're actually paying more for this than the 200 plus
00:22:45.920 the cost of administer giving out these checks it it it just it's it baffles the mind why someone who
00:22:52.720 you know runs anomaly conservative party would do this i i mean i get it like he's trying to buy votes
00:22:58.320 it's pretty explicit um you know but uh for someone who claims who like you know made a big song
00:23:04.880 a dance about the liberals being so bad and fiscally irresponsible uh it it makes no sense but um
00:23:11.200 yeah good good inclusion duck for because because a lot of you albertans out there you guys ignore uh
00:23:16.560 you know try to ignore us because we ignore you but um mutually exclusive ignoring yeah it's it's it's
00:23:23.040 mutually exclusive ignoring so i'm proud of the uh that you guys included that uh our our lackluster
00:23:30.480 premier i don't want to say things that'll get me fired but uh our lackluster premier uh that that
00:23:37.120 loves to spend and not do anything on the tax front okay that's enough attention for toronto okay do we
00:23:42.720 want to get to the nice list okay so let's leave on a nice note so the canadian taxpayers federation we
00:23:48.800 also put together the nice list you can find all of it on our website taxpayer.com but here are the
00:23:53.920 three headliners so first off the parliamentary budget officer so take it from us uh being the guy
00:24:01.200 with the calculator constantly saying no in ottawa doesn't get you invited to the fanciest of parties
00:24:07.680 it's not the funnest place to be but parliamentary budget officer keeps on trucking and in particular
00:24:14.160 we find it very interesting that he keeps crunching the numbers he's made a list he's checked it three
00:24:19.360 times now with the carbon tax and has put to bed this canard coming from the trudeau government that
00:24:26.880 most canadian families get more back in the carbon tax rebates than they pay in number one that's just
00:24:31.920 not true anybody with a modicum of common sense knows you can't give the government a 20 bill and
00:24:37.760 expect a 50 back at no cost to you it's not how money or math works and two he did the deep dive so he
00:24:45.040 looks at the economic impact so the fact that farmers have to pay the carbon tax to heat their
00:24:50.320 barns and dry their grain truckers have to pay the carbon tax to deliver literally everything we need
00:24:56.080 in this country umpteen times over so yeah at the end of the day most canadian average families are still
00:25:03.280 out money because of the carbon tax and for that reason alone uh we are naming the parliamentary budget
00:25:09.600 officer to our nice list uh next up is saskatchewan premier scott moe so next door here to alberta
00:25:17.040 saskatchewan premier scott moe was in kind of a unique position in the sense that they have a
00:25:22.000 crown corporation in saskatchewan when it comes to delivering their home heating slash power and he
00:25:28.560 dislikes the carbon tax so much that he is refusing to collect the carbon tax on saskatchewan's bills
00:25:37.920 and on average depending on how you crunch the math that's saving people around 400 bucks
00:25:44.160 so that is some serious dough especially this winter so kudos to premier scott moe for fighting
00:25:50.880 against the carbon tax with every tool that he has and lastly rounding out our taxpayers federation
00:25:56.480 nice list is right here at home alberta premier danielle smith now there's many things that premier
00:26:02.720 danielle smith is doing including fighting back against the trudeau government's gun grab there's
00:26:07.360 some really good stuff coming out of the smith government right now and she's also keeping
00:26:11.440 the budget balanced here in alberta we're watching you and she's promising to make good on her promise
00:26:17.520 to cut the provincial income tax that's a very good thing and again got to make that happen and we've
00:26:22.720 been told that that's going to happen during the budget the main thing we're giving here kudos for
00:26:26.880 though nationally is that she's come over the top rope back into this court fight against the carbon tax
00:26:34.320 so folks might remember we had a bit of a setback with the carbon tax at court where they basically
00:26:38.880 said yeah it's fine because it's national etc etc well then the trudeau government really stepped in the
00:26:44.320 bear trap because they gave an exemption to home heating oil or furnace oil which primarily is only
00:26:51.520 used in the region of the maritimes atlantic canada that's no longer national so really stepped in it
00:26:59.040 there and now premier daniel smith has stepped right up so the province of alberta going back
00:27:04.880 to court directly fighting the carbon tax based on that ruling so we think at the taxpayers federation
00:27:11.920 that we've got a good shot of winning that but it takes effort and it takes courage to go up against
00:27:17.280 ottawa so kudos to premier daniel smith she's rounding out our nice list for 2024. gentlemen any parting
00:27:25.200 thoughts uh to our viewers here for this holiday season this special episode of off the record
00:27:32.960 well i just had to laugh on the on the naughty list because i think how many of them are there
00:27:37.360 because of the carbon tax and boy they're gonna hate when they get coal in their stockings
00:27:43.040 for uh for being naughty if you could think of a group of people who would less like to see coal
00:27:47.840 than some of these lefty politicians who love carbon taxes i would be amazed personally i love a good
00:27:53.280 lump of coal it'll burn it keep you warm cook your steak on the barbecue you could do so much with
00:27:59.040 coal a lot more useful than some of our elected officials it's very dickensian and actually there
00:28:04.480 is a carbon tax on coal you can go find it on the federal government website noah no i appreciate you
00:28:12.480 mrs claus for you know putting together that list me and the elves have been working tirelessly to make
00:28:17.760 sure we have enough coal reserves uh at the factory to give out to all these naughty politicians and uh
00:28:24.000 you know giving out some uh some lindor chocolates to to the politicians who um you know have been doing
00:28:30.240 an okay job fighting for taxpayers but um yeah what is really fascinating about you know the contrast
00:28:36.000 between daniel smith and doug ford is that doug ford he came on into the politics on not the same agenda
00:28:42.880 as daniel smith but you know sort of like a populist rah-rah leader who is going to fix the
00:28:47.760 problems with their province and uh the the radically different approaches that these leaders
00:28:52.160 have taken uh to managing their uh provinces finances is uh really stark and uh you know when
00:28:59.040 every time every time i go to alberta i tell all albertans like you guys have your complaints sure
00:29:04.480 they're valid at the same time you know you guys have a great premier in contrast us we're
00:29:09.200 languishing in ontario you know be thankful i know it's not thanksgiving but um you know be
00:29:15.040 thankful that you got a a gift dropped down on your door a few years ago and you know we've been
00:29:21.200 dealing with a lump of coal sitting in a chair for six years all right folks well thank you so much for
00:29:27.840 watching thank you for watching all year long until next year merry christmas happy hanukkah and have a
00:29:35.360 safe and happy new year here at off the record just listening to noah complain endlessly about his
00:29:49.760 working conditions you would think he'd remember that here in canada we have universal elf care
00:29:57.360 and he should be you have access to a waiting list noah you should be thankful
00:30:01.600 do i do i not get a pity laugh for universal elf care oh did you say it was good i didn't hear
00:30:08.480 you oh that's very good i'm sorry that was very good it wasn't even a pity laugh i just didn't hear
00:30:14.160 you yeah but the yeah but the problem is you know mrs claus can only give so many uh foot rubs
00:30:20.080 you know to all the elves at one time so um it's not exactly yeah there's a waiting list that is
00:30:26.000 the problem with universal health care oh that was pretty good sorry william i would have laughed at you
