Summary
Teamwork is something we hear a lot about, but it's not something that we typically delve into too much because we're all expected to know what it means to be a team player. But teamwork is the fastest way to growth and success in just about any endeavor in life, and my guest today, retired Navy SEAL Chris Sainog, is here to tell us how Navy SEALs operate as a team, how to reach others in a constructive manner, and how to recognize strength in others. You're a man of action. You live life to the fullest. You embrace your fears and boldly chart your own path. When life knocks you down, you get back up one more time every time. You are not easily deterred or defeated. This is your life, this is who you are, and who you will become. At the end of the day, and after all is said and done, you can call yourself a man.

At the end of the day, and after all is said and done, you can call yourself a man.
00:00:48.640
Men, what is going on today? My name is Ryan Michler, and I am the host and the founder of Order of Man.
00:00:53.160

The first, and you know this already, is that you can find the show notes for this show at orderofman.com slash 0892nd.
00:01:27.800
Again, you probably already know about this, but we have a closed men's Facebook group that you will want to check out.
00:01:34.260
We're getting close to, as of this recording, I think 12,000 men in the group,
00:01:41.400
So you can check that out at facebook.com slash groups slash orderofman.
00:01:48.940
This is an exclusive group of men dedicated to leveling up their lives.
00:01:53.580
They're doers, and each and every one of them can attest to the fact that the participation in the council
00:01:58.800
is helping them identify key objectives in their lives,
00:02:01.840
the tactics they'll employ to reach those objectives,
00:02:04.700
and the support structure to ensure they reach each and every one of the objectives they've identified.
00:02:09.140
I'm going to talk more about this during the break,
00:02:10.720
but in the meantime, you can check it out at orderofman.com slash ironcouncil.
00:02:14.360
Now, let me introduce you to my guest today, Chris Sinog.
00:02:17.260
Chris is a retired Navy SEAL master firearms instructor, neural pathway training expert,
00:02:21.820
speaker, and disabled veteran small business owner.
00:02:24.140
He is one of the most experienced and respected firearms trainers in the world,
00:02:27.620
being hand-selected to develop the training program for the U.S. Navy SEAL snipers.
00:02:31.800
As a Navy SEAL, he was a senior sniper instructor,
00:02:34.620
a certified master training specialist, and advanced training marksmanship instructor.
00:02:39.020
After retiring from the SEAL teams in 2009 to spend time with his family,
00:02:41.920
Chris began training civilians and law enforcement officers.
00:02:44.820
He's the founder of the New Rules of Marksmanship,
00:02:50.920
for finding innovative ways to teach elite-level shooting skills online,
00:02:54.560
believe it or not, as rapidly as possible to his students.
00:02:57.640
He's a federal and state-certified firearms instructor
00:02:59.660
and has trained Department of Defense, FBI, CIA, law enforcement,
00:03:03.660
and multiple foreign allies in all aspects of combat weapons handling, marksmanship, and tactics.
00:03:08.540
Today, we talk a bit about shooting, but the bulk of our conversation is focused on creating stronger teams.
00:03:15.160
Chris, what's going on today? Thanks for joining us on the show today.
00:03:20.040
I know we've had a brief discussion about a week or so ago,
00:03:22.580
and I'm fascinated with your background and your history and what you're doing.
00:03:27.420
Tell me a little bit about how you got into the work that you're doing now,
00:03:29.760
which, as I understand it, is primarily teaching people how to shoot firearms,
00:03:36.420
Well, I'm a retired Navy SEAL, firearms instructor.
00:03:40.240
I did 20 years in the Navy and really enjoyed teaching other people,
00:03:46.100
and I ended up retiring essentially because I came home from my last deployment,
00:03:53.720
They were young, and I realized very quickly that I was doing the same thing to my kids,
00:04:09.040
and I tried teaching civilians and law enforcement how to shoot the same way that I had taught Navy SEALs.
00:04:20.480
we had unlimited amounts of time to go to the range and shoot.
00:04:25.060
and that afforded us different methods of training that other people just can't do.
00:04:32.060
So I spent about four years researching how the brain works,
00:04:37.120
how elite athletes and even classical musicians and chess players got to where they are.
00:04:43.820
So I ended up coming up with what I call the new rules of marksmanship.
00:04:53.680
I think you can train just as well at home as you can at the range.
00:05:12.300
is probably the proper techniques to holding a firearm,
00:05:19.860
when you have the time, money, and energy to expend on your ammunition,
00:05:26.780
Essentially, the biggest thing I teach people is how to learn.
00:05:31.880
So I don't really tell people that this is how you have to stand,
00:05:42.180
What I do say is you need to train your mind properly.
00:05:46.660
You need to come up with a proper training plan
00:05:49.420
to plan out how you're going to train most effectively.
00:05:52.600
And then all the individual skills that are needed,
00:06:08.840
all I really get into is to use the laws of physics
00:06:24.040
that I'm sure we probably can't even scratch the surface
00:06:32.340
Essentially, everybody's mind works the same way.
00:06:43.920
your mind, your brain builds something called myelin
00:06:57.060
whether you do it right or whether you do it wrong,
00:06:59.560
your brain wants you to do it better next time.
00:07:02.940
So it puts this insulation around that neural pathway.
00:07:19.100
that flinch is now literally ingrained in your brain
00:07:41.780
but my eight-year-old is really involved in shooting.
00:08:00.540
or mess with the fundamentals that he's created.
00:08:33.920
based on some previous conversations that we've had.
00:08:38.040
You know, I think there's a lot of guys out there
00:09:05.280
because they weren't really playing together as a team.
00:11:01.460
you're never going to be able to change the situation.
00:11:09.740
So even if somebody is punching you in the face,
00:11:24.220
and that way he would stop punching me in the face.
00:11:33.080
Why is this so difficult for society in general?
00:12:23.480
then I know you're not going to be able to fix it
