00:00:00.000 I get a lot of requests and a lot of questions about the importance of healthy levels of testosterone in men.
00:00:05.580 Unfortunately, we are beginning to see the studies that show testosterone levels among men are at an all-time low and show no signs of improving anytime soon.
00:00:15.140 My guest today, Nicholas Bayerly, joins me to talk about the role testosterone plays in men, why we're experiencing a decline in testosterone levels,
00:00:22.920 the effect of low testosterone, and how to safely and naturally boost your testosterone levels.
00:00:27.740 You're a man of action. You live life to the fullest. Embrace your fears and boldly chart your own path.
00:00:33.820 When life knocks you down, you get back up one more time, every time.
00:00:38.280 You are not easily deterred or defeated, rugged, resilient, strong.
00:00:43.320 This is your life. This is who you are. This is who you will become.
00:00:47.560 At the end of the day, and after all is said and done, you can call yourself a man.
00:00:52.500 Guys, what is going on today? My name is Ryan Michler, and I am the host and the founder of the Order of Man podcast.
00:00:59.400 This is the go-to show for men looking to and working on becoming better men.
00:01:04.280 So each and every week, we interview the world's most successful men, guys like Tim Kennedy, Grant Cardone, Jocko Willink, Andy Priscilla, so many more.
00:01:12.060 What we do is we talk with them, we extract their hard-learned lessons, and then we bring them straight to you.
00:01:17.680 So you are in the right place if you're looking at becoming a better man.
00:01:20.560 Three steps that I want you to know about and you need to take if you like what you hear today or any other show that you may have listened to in the past.
00:01:27.960 First, if you would, I don't ask for this a whole lot, but it does help us.
00:01:31.900 Leave us an iTunes rating and review.
00:01:34.180 This, again, helps us get the word out to more men, and you and I both know that the world needs more men to step fully into their roles as men.
00:01:42.440 Second, guys, make sure you join 25,000 other men.
00:01:45.900 We just cracked 25,000 men.
00:01:47.980 We're having some serious, some seriously incredible conversations about masculinity, including this discussion today, and you can do that inside of our Facebook group at facebook.com slash groups slash order of men.
00:01:59.500 And third, before we get to the show today, if you are looking for something more than what we offer in just this show, some more conversations, if you're looking to immerse yourself even in a program that's going to help you build the life that you want as a man, I want you to consider joining our mastermind, The Iron Council.
00:02:17.580 This is such an incredible group, such an incredible brotherhood of men with great accountability to help you get to where you want to be.
00:02:25.300 I'm going to talk with you more about that during the break, but for now, if you're interested, you can find out more about that at orderofmen.com slash ironcouncil.
00:02:32.960 Guys, I have got a great one lined up for you today on a topic that, again, I get a lot of questions about, and that is testosterone and testosterone levels.
00:02:41.240 Guys, I'm not an expert on the subject, so I connected with Nicholas Bailey about the subject, and I knew right away that this would be the guy to share some insights with you.
00:02:49.280 I am naturally a bit skeptical, like some of you, and especially when it comes to hormones and the body and some of these levels that we're going to be talking about today, but the thing that I really liked about Nicholas was his natural, his no-nonsense approach to increasing testosterone levels and living a healthy life.
00:03:07.780 He is the founder of The Billion Dollar Body, but he's focused on more than just building a better body.
00:03:13.540 He's focused on utilizing the right mindset, and mindset is something we talk about all the time on the show.
00:03:19.360 He uses this as the foundation for growth in your life, including the subject, again, that we're going to talk about today, boosting your testosterone levels.
00:03:28.860 Nicholas, what's up, brother? Thanks for joining me on the show today.
00:03:31.220 Hey, Ryan. Thanks so much for having me on, man. I'm so glad to be able to connect.
00:03:34.500 Finally, we're on the microphone together.
00:03:36.540 I know. I know. We've talked multiple times, and like you said, finally being able to connect, it's a good thing.
00:03:41.660 Absolutely.
00:03:42.020 Tell me what the role of testosterone is in the lives of men.
00:03:47.200 This is the conversation I want to have with you today, and I figured this would be the best place to start.
00:03:51.140 Yeah, so it's the dominant male hormone.
00:03:53.300 So women have estrogen as a dominant woman hormone.
00:03:56.460 Men have testosterone, and I've noticed over the last 100 years that men's testosterone has gone from a significant high 100 years ago to now the high of today is the low of 100 years ago.
00:04:08.220 I've seen how that's affected society and how the foods that we eat, the things that we put on our skin, all these things really affects how men think, the action that they take, the body fat that they have, the muscle that they have.
00:04:21.520 And overall, just being a man is a lot easier with higher testosterone that we've seen from the hundreds of clients that we've worked with.
00:04:27.980 So it's a great male hormone, and you definitely want it as a man.
00:04:31.680 So what makes it the hormone that makes it easier to be a quote-unquote man like you talk about?
00:04:36.480 What is it that makes it that way?
00:04:38.600 The majority of our products out here in America especially have estrogenic properties, so they raise estrogen.
00:04:46.080 Basically, what that does for the men's body is that it lowers or partners with testosterone.
00:04:52.400 So testosterone is going to be the male hormone that causes you to want to take massive action, take big risks.
00:04:58.600 It also keeps fat off of your body.
00:05:01.360 So a lot of the reasons like let's say self-consciousness, me, for example, I was 60 pounds overweight, had low testosterone because of my diet, the way that I was sleeping, the way that I was breathing.
00:05:11.560 My mindset was raising my cortisol levels, which is just another cool word for your stress hormone.
00:05:17.640 So the times that you're stressed, there's good stress, and then there's bad stress, and those all affect testosterone.
00:05:22.700 So ultimately, if you do have significant either average levels or high levels of testosterone, what that's going to result in in your body is a lower body fat percentage, especially in the face.
00:05:33.380 So fat in the face a lot of times is hormonal for men.
00:05:37.160 Fat on the hips, fat on the stomach is also hormonal.
00:05:40.380 Along with those feelings of depression, those days when you feel like, man, I just don't feel like I can go out there and take action.
00:05:46.800 I don't feel as resilient as I normally am.
00:05:49.480 And people think they have to fight through that.
00:05:52.140 But then there's also ways that you can tweak that with the food that you're eating, the sleep that you're getting, the exercises that you're doing, all affect this hormone that we call testosterone.
00:06:00.760 Yeah, I mean this is something I really haven't researched much or even studied much.
00:06:03.960 I know from experience, like you, you said 60 pounds.
00:06:07.040 I was 50 pounds overweight.
00:06:08.380 And everything that you just described was exactly the way that I felt and the way that I looked.
00:06:14.180 So through losing that weight, I imagined that I was able to get some of those testosterone levels in check relative to when I was 50 pounds heavier.
00:06:21.960 Absolutely.
00:06:23.320 And the way that you get your testosterone checked is to go to like a naturopathic doctor, you go to a regular doctor, and you can get your blood work done.
00:06:30.020 You can check your micronutrient deficiencies, which will be your vitamins and minerals.
00:06:34.540 And those are the building blocks for hormonal health.
00:06:38.000 So that will be your testosterone, your cortisol, estrogen, things like that.
00:06:41.420 So you'll be able to get those tests actually back instead of guessing and figure out, hey, where am I at?
00:06:46.840 And then you just consult someone who knows what they're doing to figure out how to read those levels.
00:06:50.920 Because to be honest, in this day and age, doctors will tell you you're good as long as you're one step away from dying.
00:06:57.540 And we don't want you just to live.
00:06:59.120 We figure that out.
00:06:59.880 We've cracked the code in America and for the majority of the earth on how to live.
00:07:03.880 But I don't want you just to live.
00:07:05.220 I want you to thrive.
00:07:06.540 And that's a whole different place that most people aren't operating in.
00:07:09.620 And so taking men from just living to thriving is a whole different lifestyle.
00:07:13.600 And that's where you go from just almost dying to, boom, thriving.
00:07:17.100 Yeah.
00:07:17.760 You know, I'm always a little bit of skeptic when it comes to some of this stuff, especially the way that I think testosterone information is presented.
00:07:24.900 I guess the question I have, is it something that even needs to necessarily be regulated?
00:07:30.040 Or is it just a matter of guys doing what they already know they should be doing, like eating healthy, exercising?
00:07:35.780 And if they just do those things, 99% of the problems with low testosterone would be resolved.
00:07:41.520 There's the things that they're doing and the way that they're thinking.
00:07:44.700 But I love what you said there that should guys just be doing what they already know they should be doing?
00:07:50.540 We've noticed that over the last five years of owning our company, that information is the cheapest thing.
00:07:56.460 Everyone has two cents, but guess what?
00:07:58.200 It's only worth two cents.
00:07:59.820 Right.
00:08:00.020 And they want to give you their two cents all the time, and that's why learning how to apply the information that you know in a way that gets you a result is where the magic happens.
00:08:10.760 So, yeah, the men should just be doing what they already know they should be doing.
00:08:13.520 As me and you know, we know something right now we could be doing to be healthier.
00:08:17.340 We know it.
00:08:18.140 It's just how do we actually do it all the time, have the accountability, have the surrounding, which is what you've created with the Order of Man.
00:08:24.040 You have these men that are really keeping each other accountable.
00:08:26.400 They know what to do, but they're having trouble doing it.
00:08:28.940 So, it should be regulated to a point because just like if you're 200 pounds overweight, you need to be regulated and be more strict because you have more life on the line.
00:08:38.160 You can really hurt yourself.
00:08:39.380 You're at a really unhealthy place.
00:08:40.840 But once you get to a place where you're in a healthy range, you're less worried about, oh, man, where's my body fat at today?
00:08:47.960 Because you're not in that critical condition.
00:08:49.740 So, it just depends on where you're at.
00:08:51.300 But if you're feeling some of those symptoms of gaining weight even though you're feeling like you're doing everything you should be doing, and then on top of that, wanting freedom in the way because making a decision on what you eat, what supplements you're taking, the exercise you're doing, and knowing what results they're going to give you is where the power's at.
00:09:08.100 It's not necessarily getting to the result that matters.
00:09:11.060 It's that constant improvement every single day.
00:09:13.180 So, regulation, definitely don't think it's really needed.
00:09:16.580 People should just be doing the things that they know.
00:09:18.920 But for some reason, we've noticed over the last 30 years, people know more than ever, but they're not doing it.
00:09:23.720 So, definitely needs that accountability to push you to that result.
00:09:27.240 Yeah, I want to talk more about that.
00:09:28.660 But before we get into maybe that gap between what we know to be doing and what we're actually doing, tell me why we're seeing these all-time lows.
00:09:37.940 Have things really changed that much, and what specifically has changed to produce these type of results in men?
00:09:44.540 One story that comes to mind is there was this lake, and I don't know all the details.
00:09:48.220 It was on the news.
00:09:49.180 Don't hold me accountable to the perfect story.
00:09:51.100 But the gist of the story is there.
00:09:52.880 They started dumping all these chemicals into this lake where there was tons of fish.
00:09:57.200 And they noticed over time with all the estrogenic properties in the chemicals or in the products that they were unleashing into this lake, it turned all the fish into women fish.
00:10:06.140 There was not one male fish left.
00:10:08.540 Interesting.
00:10:09.020 So, the chemicals that we have introduced into the air quality, sure, but our body's meant to fight off toxins.
00:10:15.320 That's what it's meant to do.
00:10:16.560 But if you're also introducing it to toxins all the time that aren't helping it, we put deodorant under our arms right next to our lymph nodes that absorb right into our system.
00:10:27.700 And we have hair products.
00:10:29.740 We have skin products that are all working against us with estrogenic properties.
00:10:33.740 Well, guess what?
00:10:34.820 We're just increasing our estrogen production, decreasing our testosterone production, and that's giving us a different result.
00:10:41.500 We can see it in the way that femininity is coming into men's lives with the way that they're thinking.
00:10:46.800 And then that thinking partners with the way that they're doing life.
00:10:50.180 So, ultimately, things have changed with the way that people are lifting, how we're not doing hard labor anymore.
00:10:55.060 I don't know if you've read the book, No More Mr. Nice Guy, but he talks a lot about how when men started going away from the home and going to work, we got raised by our moms.
00:11:05.700 And then we went to school, and we had a woman teacher.
00:11:08.220 So, we learned how to become a man based on what women want men to be.
00:11:11.400 And, ultimately, mindset is the third biggest piece to boosting testosterone, actually.
00:11:16.300 If people don't know that, it goes for micronutrients, which is just your vitamins and minerals, macronutrients, which is just what your food's made of, protein, carbs, and fat.
00:11:24.200 And then it's mindset before lifting, before supplementation because that's a big part.
00:11:28.900 If you're around a male role model, you can boost your testosterone just from assuming a leadership role.
00:11:34.240 So, if there's a problem that needs to be solved, boom, you solve it, it boosts your testosterone.
00:11:39.480 If you watch your favorite sports team on TV, the reason men get so excited is because if they win, you boost your testosterone.
00:11:45.920 That adrenaline goes up, your testosterone goes up.
00:11:48.380 But if they lose, a lot of times it will actually drop your testosterone.
00:11:51.620 So, testosterone is regulated every single day.
00:11:54.400 When you sleep, you reproduce it.
00:11:56.540 When you're awake, you go through it.
00:11:58.320 So, it's a constant refilling cycle.
00:12:00.040 So, even just the lack there of sleep and the high levels of stress in this day and age is what's really inhibiting that testosterone from being reproduced.
00:12:09.300 And then also, they don't have enough in the day to actually go through it and use it, free testosterone.
00:12:14.360 I really like this mindset component.
00:12:15.880 I imagine it's a pretty big piece because I think a lot comes from that mindset.
00:12:19.180 But before that, before we get into that, I want to talk about the micronutrients that you talk about because barring not wearing any deodorant or rubbing beard oil in your beard, what's the alternative?
00:12:30.020 I mean, are these things that we can even escape?
00:12:31.960 And if so, how do you do that and what's the alternative to that?
00:12:35.240 So, one's getting more natural products going back to the basics like beard oil.
00:12:39.720 A lot of them are very natural, really good.
00:12:41.980 Some of them might even help with your skin.
00:12:43.760 So, instead of buying this frou-frou product that a lot of these guys don't even want to use, instead of using Old Spice, there's other products out there that you can use that, boom, are 100% natural and aren't giving you estrogenic properties.
00:12:55.960 But from the micronutrient scale, which is vitamins and minerals, in America, we have the most mineral-deficient soil ever in the history of America.
00:13:04.420 We've just over-farmed.
00:13:05.760 Minerals are found in the dirt, right?
00:13:07.660 And then we farm and they go up into the food.
00:13:10.040 Now, if we have no minerals in the dirt, then there's no minerals in the food and that tomato that you're looking at doesn't have nearly as much nutrients in it as it used to.
00:13:18.880 So, a lot of times you have to supplement with ionic minerals, which is electrolytes is a good word for it, is a grouping of minerals.
00:13:26.580 So, a lot of guys have been – have drank Gatorade in their past, but that's just a bad version of it.
00:13:31.840 If you can get ionic minerals, that will be the building blocks.
00:13:34.800 And just think of magnesium for a second.
00:13:36.800 Everyone's heard of magnesium.
00:13:38.100 It has 200 different functions that the body uses magnesium for.
00:13:42.000 Think of 200 different things.
00:13:43.400 If you're deficient in magnesium that your body's not doing optimally, it might be doing them to survive.
00:13:49.100 But again, all these men want to work optimally.
00:13:51.640 They want to work at their highest potential.
00:13:53.080 Their family needs them at 100%, not 60.
00:13:55.520 Their business, their work doesn't need them at 60%, needs them at 100%.
00:13:59.400 One way to get there is to supplement the minerals and then also making sure that you're getting a grouping of vitamins.
00:14:05.320 And this is what we do for all of our men is we actually take them to our naturopathic doctor that's on our team and we get their blood work done just to see.
00:14:12.800 That's if they're really not getting the results they want.
00:14:15.900 But obviously, if they start eating a nutrient-rich diet and take away a lot of the chemicals that are in the house from the Febrezes and those little plug-in candles and all these stupid things that we have just introduced in our atmosphere without thinking about the repercussions, then all of a sudden, all those little things compounded over time end up giving them a big result.
00:14:34.980 Interesting.
00:14:35.540 Very interesting.
00:14:36.600 Where do you get these minerals?
00:14:38.140 I mean, is it, like you said, is it a multivitamin or daily vitamin?
00:14:41.740 Is it some sort of supplement or drink?
00:14:44.820 Like, where are you going to replace these nutrients from?
00:14:46.800 I use Complete Essentials.
00:14:48.600 Not really, like, just been the best thing that I've found so far.
00:14:51.900 People can go check them out.
00:14:53.280 The guy seems really awesome, but I've looked at the product for a long time.
00:14:56.600 That's what I put in my body after five years of research.
00:14:59.300 Basically, this is just a straight-up mineral that you just put in your water.
00:15:02.440 It's like a little dropper.
00:15:03.840 Put it straight in your water.
00:15:04.760 I get it done every single day.
00:15:06.360 It's helped me with my energy levels.
00:15:07.740 And also, it helps people all around with, in the middle of the day, people get so tired,
00:15:13.200 and they get so burned out, or they come home from work.
00:15:15.340 I'm sure you hear this all the time, Ryan.
00:15:16.680 When people come home, they're not able to serve their family because they just need to
00:15:20.120 gel out.
00:15:20.700 They need a recharge.
00:15:21.900 Yeah.
00:15:22.020 And if we could just curve that just a little bit, just two hours, let's say, a day, or
00:15:26.800 one hour a day, that's 28-hour workdays a year of extra time, just if you had one more
00:15:32.380 hour a day.
00:15:33.180 So that's 20 whole days a year, eight-hour days that you can spend with the family, working
00:15:38.740 on other things, things that make you feel fulfilled.
00:15:40.980 So it's not anything crazy.
00:15:43.480 There's no crazy changes you need to make.
00:15:45.700 It's just using that brain that you have, that problem-solving brain that the man has.
00:15:50.560 And just to throw it out there real quick, women, they have serotonin in their brain as
00:15:54.760 a chemical in their brain that makes them feel happy.
00:15:57.620 That's what they get when they eat some chocolate.
00:15:59.940 Like, it feels really good, serotonin release.
00:16:02.260 But they actually get that release from being heard.
00:16:04.980 Unfortunately for men, we get a dopamine release when we solve problems.
00:16:09.720 So women want to tell us what's going on.
00:16:12.720 Like, they tell us all their problems, and what do we do?
00:16:15.620 We solve them, and we totally screw up the whole thing for them.
00:16:18.400 Because they only feel appreciated and loved if they get heard, but we only feel good if
00:16:23.380 we solve it.
00:16:24.400 So we're just solve, solve, solve, solve, solve.
00:16:26.800 Testosterone's going up.
00:16:27.920 We feel badass, and then all of a sudden the woman's over there like, I don't feel good
00:16:31.640 at all.
00:16:32.020 I hate this.
00:16:32.920 And then we go back down.
00:16:34.160 So to do a whole loop on that, you don't need to do anything crazy.
00:16:37.760 You just need to eliminate all the cheap stuff in your life.
00:16:40.240 If you treat yourself like a Ferrari, you would never put 87 grade fuel in it.
00:16:45.520 So if your body's worth more than a Ferrari is because it's worth billions and billions
00:16:49.060 of dollars, you were given this body for free.
00:16:51.380 And all you have to do is take care of it by investing in yourself.
00:16:54.820 You don't have to pay the mortgage payment on it.
00:16:56.860 You don't have to pay the monthly bill.
00:16:58.820 You just have to make sure you invest the correct fuel in it.
00:17:01.420 You're not going to go to Walmart with your Ferrari and put the crappiest fuel in it.
00:17:06.500 You're going to put the best fuel.
00:17:07.560 So you need to go from treating yourself like a 1980s Honda Civic to a 2017 X, whatever your

00:17:18.960 And you start putting the correct high quality fuel, oil, everything you need into your body

00:18:16.620 order of man.com slash iron council.
00:18:19.500 Now guys, let's get back to our conversation with Nicholas.
00:18:24.060 So let's talk about the fuel side because this transitions perfectly into the macronutrients
00:18:28.900 that you talk about, because what I see a lot of guys will do is, you know, they'll get
00:18:32.240 off from a break at work and they'll hop across the street to Burger King and they'll do this
00:18:36.000 over and over and over again.
00:18:37.300 I know that was certainly my life four or five, six years ago.
00:18:40.200 So what type of fuel when it comes to food should we be putting into our body?
00:18:45.520 So your digestive system uses the second most amount of energy in your entire body.
00:18:49.700 So if your body's having a hard time breaking through or breaking down food, then it's just
00:18:54.660 going to suck up all of your energy.
00:18:57.320 How do you know that if your body is having a hard time digesting or not?
00:19:00.560 The complexity of foods.
00:19:02.400 And so how long does it take to digest?
00:19:04.420 Are you feeling tired after?
00:19:05.660 I mean, look at what happens on Thanksgiving.
00:19:07.300 People think that it's only when you eat turkey that you feel tired, yet these guys, just
00:19:11.560 like you're talking about, are going to Burger King, they're eating, and then they're
00:19:16.140 unproductive for four hours.
00:19:17.620 That's a really good indication when you feel super tired after you get done eating.
00:19:22.460 Or you hear these men all the time quote these things like, wow, that was clean burning food.
00:19:28.500 This was just protein, and it felt so good, and I felt like I would just burn it so clean.
00:19:33.320 I had tons of energy.
00:19:34.740 Men have felt this different way for such a long time, but they haven't hit the nail on
00:19:38.600 the head on why this is happening.
00:19:40.560 So we can feel it.
00:19:41.420 I know how I feel after a meal, whether I feel good or not, and that's what you're saying
00:19:45.180 the indicator is.
00:19:46.280 Yeah, the indicator has, everything's going to come down to you as a man.
00:19:50.580 You need to be able to feel it, understand it, and be able to own it on your own.
00:19:55.600 It's no one else's fault if you don't do it, it's no one else's glory if you do do it.
00:19:59.640 But the thing is, is that you should be able to feel every single thing that we're talking
00:20:03.080 about.
00:20:03.720 At the end of the day, some things happen slower, obviously, with losing weight, you
00:20:07.880 didn't lose the 60 pounds or 50 pounds in one day.
00:20:12.600 So you didn't feel it, like if you drink three cups of coffee right now and jump around in
00:20:16.660 circles, you're definitely going to feel it.
00:20:18.620 There's a big difference in that type of feeling, but being aware of your body is where men need
00:20:23.160 to go.
00:20:23.520 So intuition, if you lived in New York City however long ago, hundreds of years ago, and
00:20:29.020 you were thinking, wow, it's getting really cold out here in New York City at this time
00:20:33.960 of year.
00:20:34.440 I need to go find a cave or light a fire or kill a bear and put its skin over my back.
00:20:39.940 You couldn't do that based on asking people questions.
00:20:42.920 No one had ever done it before.
00:20:43.960 You had to use your intuition and you need to reawaken that intuition again for yourself
00:20:49.780 if you want to succeed and go to the next level in 2017.
00:20:54.280 Because we have so many comforts around us, we don't need to use that intuition, that type
00:20:58.840 of feeling that makes ducks fly south for the winter.
00:21:02.320 We need that type of intuition in ourself to make sure that we can choose the right products
00:21:07.080 for ourself and choose the right direction for our family, our job, the direction we go,
00:21:11.620 so that they're long lasting commitments and decisions.
00:21:14.720 And so this comes back to the earlier conversation that we had about knowing what needs to be
00:21:19.260 done.
00:21:19.540 That's the intuition you're talking about, correct?
00:21:21.740 Yeah.
00:21:21.940 The intuition is also applying and seeing what fruit is produced by applying something into
00:21:27.180 your life.
00:21:27.620 So if you go and you eat Burger King every single day and you gain 15 pounds in three
00:21:32.240 months and you feel sluggish, then you should be able to see and use your intuition in your
00:21:36.280 mind and go, wow, this isn't adding up.
00:21:38.500 The fruit from this tree of eating the Burger King every day is producing bad fruit.
00:21:43.820 It's producing weight gain.
00:21:44.820 It's not getting me close to my goal.
00:21:46.320 It's making me self-conscious, aka only thinking about myself.
00:21:50.520 And so at that point, you switch it up.
00:21:52.320 And if men can do this, accept reality quickly when something's not producing a good result
00:21:57.400 and change it, then you'll be able to get results a lot quicker.
00:22:00.640 So macronutrients is just protein, carbs, and fat.
00:22:03.500 Everyone knows that it's on the back of the bag.
00:22:05.380 And if you can balance those out in your meals and just eat as close of a source to the actual
00:22:10.860 earth providing it.
00:22:12.080 So potato, a great food to boost testosterone.
00:22:15.520 Steak, great meat to boost testosterone.
00:22:19.340 And grass-fed beef especially.
00:22:21.400 The fat in grass-fed beef, everyone takes omega-3 fish oils.
00:22:24.460 Have you taken omega-3s, Ryan?
00:22:25.880 I don't actually get into supplements or anything like that at all.
00:22:30.040 I'm not saying that it's bad.
00:22:31.500 So do you eat fish?
00:22:33.420 Occasionally, not very often.
00:22:34.640 So flax seed, chia seed, fish, those are all omega-3 fatty acids.
00:22:39.360 They really help with decreasing inflammation.
00:22:41.880 People will eat fish, decreases inflammation.
00:22:44.240 Well, when you eat grain-fed beef, it actually has 20 times the amount of omega-6s as omega-3s.
00:22:50.000 This is from eating grain.
00:22:51.380 By the way, if you're eating grain as a man, well, guess what?
00:22:54.540 They fatten up cows with eating grain.
00:22:56.720 So just think about what happens when you eat tons of grain.
00:22:59.080 Sure.
00:22:59.300 And they fatten them up, and then you eat a grain-fed cow 20 to 1.
00:23:04.020 If you eat a grass-fed cow, it's 1 to 1, omega-6, omega-3.
00:23:07.820 Way less inflammatory on your body, way easier to digest.
00:23:11.940 So think about it.
00:23:12.760 I post these things all the time.
00:23:14.700 You could be eating steak.
00:23:15.860 You can be eating potatoes.
00:23:17.800 You can be eating all these awesome foods that help boost testosterone, make you a man, things that you love.
00:23:24.520 And you don't have to go out there and eat vegetables with lean protein every single day.
00:23:28.380 I'm 100% against eating lean protein with just vegetables.
00:23:32.960 Hmm.
00:23:33.300 Interesting.
00:23:33.660 Yeah, I know when it comes to – you talk about beef, for example.
00:23:37.940 We go in on a cow each year with my in-laws, and I know there's a huge difference in the quality, the taste, and even the way that I feel after eating a steak from a grass-fed cow versus something you'd buy at the store.
00:23:49.860 Oh, absolutely.
00:23:51.000 I have a store right next to me that only does grass-fed meat.
00:23:54.460 It's great when you can actually trust a company to provide good quality food.
00:23:58.340 And again, it just comes down to this.
00:24:00.080 Will grass-fed meat usually cost more than grain-fed?
00:24:02.900 But absolutely.
00:24:03.940 Are you a Ferrari or are you a 1980s Honda Civic?
00:24:07.240 Right.
00:24:07.480 How do you want to treat your body?
00:24:08.520 It's more of an investment, correct?
00:24:09.620 Absolutely.
00:24:10.260 This is the only body you get.
00:24:11.740 You don't get any other body.
00:24:13.260 You can always run your car into the ground, go get a new one, save up, get a monthly payment.
00:24:17.700 This body is the only one you get.
00:24:19.460 And if you want to thrive instead of just survive, then just apply these few things.
00:24:23.920 Use – like Ryan is saying, he feels it.
00:24:26.340 Oh, I feel when I eat this food, it gives me this result.
00:24:29.520 So because of the result, that's why I do it.
00:24:31.240 Hey, all the guys out there listening right now, if you got lean, mean, fighting machine
00:24:37.000 from eating junk food, I would tell you to do that.
00:24:39.820 It's not about the actions that I care about.
00:24:42.540 It's about the result that it's going to give you as a man and how it's going to make
00:24:45.900 you a better leader in your household, a leader in your tribe.
00:24:49.180 As a man, you want to be the guy who goes out there and can provide just like Ryan has
00:24:53.960 stated time and time again.
00:24:55.780 So it's because of the result and the result will keep you going.
00:24:59.320 If you were eating healthy, Ryan, and you weren't losing any body fat, it wouldn't
00:25:03.620 be fun to eat healthy anymore.
00:25:05.120 But because you did, it makes it, oh, wow, I could keep doing this because of the result.
00:25:10.000 Right, which we turn into essentially a game.
00:25:12.420 You know, if you can figure out a way to get stronger and leaner, continue to experiment and
00:25:17.680 try that and you can see what type of results did you get.
00:25:19.860 That's what's been exciting for me.
00:25:21.520 Absolutely.
00:25:22.300 And as a man, we want to always chase what we don't have.
00:25:25.760 And this might be a totally different subject, but I think we just have to hit on it.
00:25:29.000 A lot of men these days are investing in their health until they get it and then they sabotage
00:25:33.560 themselves back into being unhealthy again.
00:25:36.480 That every time they can't focus on that health, they lose it.
00:25:40.060 And you don't ever want to be in a place where you're always chasing the carrot on the
00:25:43.340 stick because you'll never be happy.
00:25:44.660 But if you go at this mindset of my body was given to me for free, it's worth so much,
00:25:49.900 then all of a sudden it becomes easy to invest in it all the time rather than only doing
00:25:54.640 it as a diet or because your wife wants you to get healthy and it becomes your thing.
00:25:59.700 Never chase the carrot on the stick because you're so fulfilled.
00:26:02.660 Go out there and create the body that you deserve.
00:26:05.440 Let's talk about this mindset component, which is the third piece.
00:26:08.820 And you talk about one of the things that you said that really stuck with me is to accept
00:26:13.140 reality.
00:26:13.880 And I think there's so many men out there who know that something's going on, that something's
00:26:18.940 not quite right, yet they continue to put the blindfold on.
00:26:22.320 Why is that the case?
00:26:23.840 Things are discouraging.
00:26:25.080 And when you get discouraged as a man, it lowers your testosterone.
00:26:28.640 Your cortisol level goes up, so you get stressed, right?
00:26:31.100 You're always thinking about, oh, what's going to happen tomorrow?
00:26:33.600 I'm so overweight.
00:26:34.400 I can't believe I got here.
00:26:35.840 And as you know, Ryan, one of my number one mentors for the last seven years was a Navy
00:26:40.020 SEAL.
00:26:40.380 And then he was a Navy SEAL instructor, worked privately in the CIA for five years, and now has
00:26:45.020 gone on to Hollywood and movies.
00:26:47.320 And through that process, I worked out at a Navy SEAL gym for about three and a half
00:26:51.640 years.
00:26:51.980 So it was just Navy SEALs and their family members that worked out there.
00:26:55.680 And I noticed that these men, they would always be able to push through.
00:26:59.820 They would never give up.
00:27:01.000 And the accept reality quickly part came straight from my mentor.
00:27:04.720 It wasn't something that I thought up in my mind.
00:27:06.860 Every time he gets discouraged or anything that something bad happens, sitting there and
00:27:11.820 dwelling on it and being sad and being like, oh, man, I'm so out of shape, so overweight.
00:27:16.780 I had a bad relationship.
00:27:18.200 Whatever it is, the more you think about it, it's not helping you at all.
00:27:21.480 Again, it comes down to the result.
00:27:23.300 Nothing is being helped.
00:27:24.780 You're not going forward from that moment.
00:27:26.400 So you accept reality quickly.
00:27:28.580 And he says, this is what every Navy SEAL does, is you accept reality quickly and figure
00:27:33.420 out how can I improve by 5% today?
00:27:35.460 How can I improve by 10% today?
00:27:37.260 Too many men are wallowing in their own junk and they're sitting there and they're weeping
00:27:41.940 and they're crying when they could get up and improve by 5%.
00:27:45.180 And in 20 days, you'd improve so much.
00:27:48.240 So it's accept reality quickly.
00:27:50.220 Understand that you lost $250,000.
00:27:53.040 Accept it quickly and move on.
00:27:55.280 Someone punched you in the face.
00:27:56.740 Accept it quickly.
00:27:57.460 Move on.
00:27:58.160 You're 60 pounds overweight.
00:27:59.380 You woke up out of nowhere.
00:28:00.580 Don't know how you got there.
00:28:01.880 Accept it.
00:28:02.860 Figure out how you can improve by 5% tomorrow.
00:28:04.960 That makes a lot of sense.
00:28:06.240 And I like that caveat that you add on to there, which is quickly, right?
00:28:09.340 Because I think this is where a lot of guys will accept reality like, oh, I'm 100 pounds
00:28:14.080 overweight.
00:28:14.780 And then they'll continue to accept reality and continue to accept reality and never push
00:28:19.100 to that next stage, which is, okay, now what are you going to do with that information?
00:28:22.940 And too many men are using the I am's.
00:28:25.100 They're saying, I am fat.
00:28:26.600 I am broke.
00:28:28.000 You're like, no, you're not.
00:28:29.400 That's not who you are.
00:28:30.640 You're Ryan.
00:28:31.940 You're naming yourself after all these things.
00:28:34.620 It's the worst thing you can do because the only time those things have power over your
00:28:38.760 life is when you give it an I am because you just have fat.
00:28:43.420 You just don't have money right now, but you're going to have money.
00:28:47.220 It's switching the mindset of instead of wallowing and being stuck where you're at, if you want
00:28:51.200 to not give power to any of these things in your life that are holding you back, don't
00:28:55.120 put an I am before it.
00:28:56.600 I don't have money currently, but I have lots of abundance coming to me in the future because
00:29:00.980 of the plans and the work that I'm putting in to get it.
00:29:03.900 It's a totally different mindset, which doesn't leave you as a victim.
00:29:07.860 I am not fat.
00:29:09.400 It's I'm not fat.
00:29:10.880 It's not like that at all.
00:29:12.260 So it's you have fat and now you're just going to lose it because it's not a part of who you
00:29:16.680 are as a man.
00:29:18.020 These problems, these struggles, it's just an experience that you're having currently.
00:29:23.360 Like I am sad.
00:29:24.800 OK, well, yesterday you weren't.
00:29:26.560 So you aren't sadness.
00:29:28.200 That's not who you are.
00:29:29.260 It's just something you're experiencing.
00:29:31.460 And that mindset shift will decrease the cortisol levels, decrease the body fat, increase your
00:29:37.300 happiness of life.
00:29:38.300 And believe me, your family will thank you.
00:29:40.880 That is for sure, because I get messages from not only men, but I also get messages from
00:29:45.540 women who have noticed huge, huge impacts and changes in their husband and definitely
00:29:50.600 has the ability to affect more than just yourself.
00:29:52.680 It goes to your family and your business, your community, all these areas.
00:29:55.280 Absolutely.
00:29:56.840 How quickly can you expect to experience a noticeable change when you start implementing
00:30:02.180 some of the things you're talking about?
00:30:03.800 I've seen men double their testosterone in 90 days, just three months of implementing,
00:30:09.180 getting the right micronutrients, the minerals and vitamins, the correct macronutrients,
00:30:13.600 finding out someone who understands men.
00:30:16.020 Don't go out there and get a women's diet or do a women's workout and expect to get the
00:30:20.600 same result.
00:30:21.180 And if you're out there running men, I know this is such a common thing that men do.
00:30:24.320 They go, man, I'm going to go out and I'm going to go run like five miles today.
00:30:27.700 And they get on this running kick, running.
00:30:29.940 I was friends with a guy with last name Hall.
00:30:32.800 He was an Olympic athlete for the United States of America, and he had a drop out of the last
00:30:37.020 Olympics because his testosterone was so low.
00:30:40.680 Long endurance workouts will decrease your level of testosterone.
00:30:45.220 Short, high intensities with heavy lifting is the maximum way to increase your ligament strength,
00:30:51.660 your bone density and also boost your testosterone.
00:30:54.880 So I just had to throw that in there that, man, stop with these long running workouts, long,
00:31:00.280 high intensities.
00:31:01.240 It's not worth it.
00:31:02.240 It's not helping you.
00:31:03.420 But is there a place for that?
00:31:04.980 Are you saying not at all?
00:31:06.540 Oh, there's a total place because mindset is more important than all of it.
00:31:10.240 If you feel like running 50 miles today because you want to break through, believe me, I don't
00:31:14.960 care if you break every single bone in your body because mindset is so much more powerful
00:31:20.440 than any type of physical thing we can do to be perfect.
00:31:23.840 If you want to be perfect, just stay in your house, barely get enough vitamin D, lift a couple
00:31:29.060 heavy weights and don't move and never walk outside.
00:31:31.680 That's the way if you want to live forever, do it.
00:31:34.380 But that's not what it's all about because mindset is such a big part of it.
00:31:37.220 Believe me, working out with these Navy SEALs, we would push ourselves until we passed out.
00:31:41.120 Literally, I'd be running down the street, I'd run into the actual gym and I would black
00:31:45.340 out.
00:31:45.840 Is that good for you?
00:31:46.860 Absolutely not.
00:31:47.720 But I was just seeing if I could do it because I know the next day, the resilience of my mind
00:31:51.960 is going to be so much higher and I've achieved such a higher level of success of pushing
00:31:55.800 myself.
00:31:56.580 Being cold, it's not fun.
00:31:58.160 But if you can do it and break through in your mind, then all of a sudden you can walk
00:32:01.560 with that breakthrough every single day.
00:32:03.180 Yeah, interesting.
00:32:04.060 That makes sense.
00:32:05.140 When you talk about how quickly you can experience those results, like double testosterone levels in 90
00:32:09.960 days, for example, what are we talking about here?
00:32:12.740 I mean, what is a healthy level and where should a man be striving to get to?
00:32:16.660 There's different testosterone charts where it shows what your age is, what your type of
00:32:22.920 activity is, and what the general average is for your age.
00:32:26.160 Because testosterone typically goes down as you get older, but they found tribes all over
00:32:31.700 the world of people that live off just vegetation.
00:32:34.980 They don't have tons of computers.
00:32:36.900 They don't have tons of cell phones.
00:32:38.040 All these stresses around them and the testosterone of the 75-year-olds there is the testosterone
00:32:44.560 of our 30-year-olds in America.
00:32:47.160 And so doubling your testosterone looks like, hey, if you're around the 200 free testosterone,
00:32:52.020 300, 400, that's kind of a lower range for testosterone.
00:32:56.780 Whereas anywhere around the 650 to 1,000 of free testosterone is where you want to be around
00:33:03.360 to thrive, and that's where you're having more energy every single day, decreasing body
00:33:08.940 fat, increasing your muscle mass.
00:33:11.260 And the ways to get there, again, there's only five physical attributes of health, and
00:33:14.620 everyone can write these down.
00:33:15.920 You got breathing.
00:33:17.140 If you don't breathe for five minutes, you die.
00:33:19.320 So it's really important to figure out how you can breathe correctly.
00:33:22.540 Not shallow breathe.
00:33:23.980 Not while you're looking at your computer.
00:33:25.820 You need to hydrate and hydrate correctly.
00:33:28.600 That's a big deal.
00:33:29.580 You can stay alive on one cup of water, sure, but if you don't drink water for four days,
00:33:33.920 you die.
00:33:34.780 Done.
00:33:35.640 And if you want to thrive, it takes much more than that.
00:33:38.060 The third thing is going to be sleep.
00:33:40.400 A lot of men out there, they want to skip sleep.
00:33:42.600 They wish it wasn't even around, not knowing that it's a big contributor to their success,
00:33:47.740 but also their demise, and then it's nutrition and working out.
00:33:51.240 The good thing is for all the men out there right now, four out of five, they already do every
00:33:55.600 single day if they don't exercise.
00:33:57.060 And I know you talk about exercise all the time, Ryan, so they should be exercising.
00:34:02.160 And the other four, they already do every day.
00:34:04.100 They just need to do them correctly.
00:34:05.560 And they need to spend a little bit more time.
00:34:07.460 Absolutely.
00:34:08.400 I know one of the questions that's going to come up, because I do get this question all
00:34:11.280 the time, is how does testosterone levels affect beard growth?
00:34:15.620 I know that might sound like a funny question, but somebody's going to ask that question.
00:34:19.280 So higher testosterone levels will help the majority of men grow a more thick facial hair
00:34:25.400 and more hair in general, but also it also decreases the hair on your head, on the top
00:34:30.340 of your head.
00:34:30.780 So high testosterone levels also will result in some balding, and that's just a typical
00:34:36.000 side effect.
00:34:36.960 I don't know too much about the percentage of beard growth or if it will actually work
00:34:41.640 really well for everyone, because I can't grow a beard anywhere near like you can.
00:34:46.060 I'm so jealous.
00:34:46.880 I'm like, I got the goatee going right now, just trying to be a little bit of the order
00:34:51.200 of man style.
00:34:52.340 Just for the show, I was like, I need to grow a goatee.
00:34:54.640 I need to try it out.
00:34:55.520 But yeah.
00:34:56.160 When the show's over, just because you were on, it will start growing faster and longer
00:34:59.220 for you.
00:35:00.140 Oh, perfect.
00:35:00.940 Now everyone's going to be just wanting to get on your show.
00:35:03.380 I was going to say, this show will naturally help you increase your testosterone levels.
00:35:08.220 That's how you should just promote the show.
00:35:09.640 Let's run Facebook ads and just everyone will want to watch it.
00:35:12.580 That's right.
00:35:13.100 That's right.
00:35:13.580 It'll definitely help though.
00:35:15.080 It helps with beard growth for sure.
00:35:17.220 It helps with facial hair.
00:35:18.680 Absolutely.
00:35:19.980 And same with having the building blocks for hair to grow.
00:35:23.660 There's biotins, one of them as well.
00:35:25.860 These micronutrients, if you're feeling yourself correctly, your body can do those extra things
00:35:30.940 to make your body fully thrive, not just survive.
00:35:34.540 If you don't eat any food, Ryan, you're not going to have any muscle because you don't
00:35:38.660 need it to live.
00:35:40.120 But to thrive, you're thinking, wow, I need some muscle on here.
00:35:43.580 If I'm going to defend my castle as a man, I want to have some muscle.
00:35:48.400 But if you don't need any food, you're not going to have it.
00:35:50.520 So fueling yourself correctly is going to help also with the beard growth.
00:35:53.920 So as we wind down, because we are stretching it thin on time here a little bit, I want to
00:35:58.080 ask you about where should somebody even get started with this?
00:36:02.780 I mean, is it just a matter of getting your testosterone levels checked?
00:36:06.300 Is that the first thing?
00:36:07.180 And then where do we go from there?
00:36:08.240 Like what's the first maybe one or two steps that we need to take care of as we try to increase
00:36:12.540 testosterone levels?
00:36:14.080 So first is being real with yourself, hearing the things that I'm saying and feeling it.
00:36:18.920 Do you match any of these areas of high body fat, lots of body fat or or more fat held
00:36:25.360 on the face?
00:36:26.580 Do you have low energy levels?
00:36:28.060 Have you not been able to gain muscle easily?
00:36:30.480 I obviously goes all the way down into sexual arousal, things like that and figure out, are
00:36:35.160 you experiencing any of the symptoms?
00:36:36.680 Now, again, mindset wise, the symptoms aren't a part of who you are.
00:36:41.540 It's just something you're experiencing now that can be totally fixed.
00:36:45.840 There is hope in the future for you.
00:36:48.200 And then from there is, do you need to get checked?
00:36:50.460 Hey, if you want to go do it, if you have health insurance, like 150 bucks to get your
00:36:53.880 blood work done.
00:36:54.840 If you want to go do that, go and hit it.
00:36:56.960 But you already know that there's certain things that you need to do to be able to get
00:37:00.680 this result and that you're going to want to do because of the result you'll get.
00:37:03.640 And so if you go back into the show and take some notes, you'll see that micronutrients,
00:37:08.580 making sure you get those minerals that I talked about and then eating those foods that
00:37:12.220 are just as close to the earth as possible and doing those types of workouts that I talked
00:37:16.500 about as well.
00:37:17.580 And I'm sure, Ryan, we can even put together something, a little checklist for everyone
00:37:21.480 to be able to say, hey, check these boxes off the list and you should see an increase in
00:37:26.240 testosterone levels and see if those symptoms are going away.
00:37:29.140 I'm not interested in anyone doing something for 90 days.
00:37:32.440 I'm interested in these men thriving for the rest of their life.
00:37:36.460 Right.
00:37:36.640 And I love that.
00:37:37.320 That's a great place to cap this is that this is more from what I'm hearing you say, a lifestyle.
00:37:42.460 This is not something that you just tweak for the next 30, 60 or 90 days.
00:37:45.420 This is a lifestyle that you incorporate.
00:37:47.940 Oh, absolutely.
00:37:49.320 Lifestyle 100%.
00:37:50.520 As we wind down, I want to ask you a couple additional questions.
00:37:54.260 The first one is, what does it mean to be a man?
00:37:57.220 Ever since we started the beginning of the episode, I've just had one thought on my head.
00:38:01.920 Maybe different tomorrow, but right now this is what I've got.
00:38:04.780 Hopefully it's valuable for people.
00:38:06.660 Being a man is building a castle.
00:38:09.540 And as you build the castle, you're not only the person who leads it, but you're also the
00:38:13.240 one who goes and defends it.
00:38:14.500 And if that's a descriptive, very visual way to put it is that, boom, you've built this
00:38:19.840 castle with the purpose and the vision that you have on your heart.
00:38:24.340 But you're not only the guy who leads the castle, but you're also the one that serves
00:38:27.780 it.
00:38:28.300 And I believe ultimately, if you do that in your life, you're becoming the ultimate man.
00:38:33.300 Nicholas, how do we find out more about you, man, the work that you're doing and connect
00:38:36.680 with you?
00:38:37.580 Dude, the billiondollarbody.com will give you everything.
00:38:41.280 I do tons of Snapchat stuff.
00:38:42.980 I do tons of live feeds with Navy SEALs, CIA agents, pro athletes, and some of the top
00:38:48.740 entrepreneurs in the world because we only work with male entrepreneurs and business owners.
00:38:53.380 So everything is content strictly for men to be able to uplift their health so that they
00:38:59.180 can serve their family and their business better.
00:39:01.100 So the billiondollarbody.com and the billiondollarbody on Facebook.
00:39:05.680 Right on.
00:39:05.940 We'll make sure we connect all the guys with you and what you're doing.
00:39:09.060 And then also, we were going to talk about this.
00:39:10.720 We've got an event, and if I remember correctly, it is in July down in San Diego as well.
00:39:16.100 Do you want to mention that real quickly?
00:39:17.840 Yeah, billiondollarbodylive.com.
00:39:20.240 We've handpicked all the speakers, and we've also tailored the two days after I've been to
00:39:25.780 personal development workshops, business seminars, health seminars, men's events, men's
00:39:31.480 breakthrough events, and I've chewed on the meat and spit out of the bones and put together
00:39:36.100 a two-day full immersion event for men to be able to uplevel in their health, sure, but
00:39:41.300 then also get more fulfillment out of life like we talked about, being fully fulfilled
00:39:46.300 and feeling totally purposeful on the inside.
00:39:49.120 And because of that, you go out there and you feel your body correctly, you serve your
00:39:53.020 family correctly, and you also dominate in business and your impact without a place of
00:39:57.980 lack but from a place of purpose and fulfillment.
00:40:00.880 So if you want to be more fulfilled, have more purpose, and be able to achieve more in
00:40:04.120 those areas of your life, then this is a must-go-to event for you.
00:40:07.240 And Ryan is going to break the mic when he comes to the event.
00:40:11.640 He's going to just absolute kill it, and I'm so excited to have you there, Ryan.
00:40:14.760 You better believe it, man.
00:40:15.580 I'm excited about it.
00:40:16.480 I know it's going to be a great event, so we'll make sure we link that up as well.
00:40:19.060 So Nicholas, I got to tell you, man, I appreciate you.
00:40:21.060 I appreciate our friendship and what I've learned from you, and I know this is going
00:40:23.520 to be valuable for the guys listening, so thanks for joining us today.
00:40:26.300 Absolutely, man.
00:40:26.900 We'll talk more about getting a little checklist made for your whole community and make sure
00:40:30.480 that they can apply everything accordingly.
00:40:32.340 Right on.
00:40:34.820 Guys, I hope you enjoyed that episode.
00:40:36.680 This topic is critical to the conversation of being a better man.
00:40:40.540 Yes, there's the studies that show decline in the levels of testosterone in men today, but
00:40:44.840 I think we can all see it.
00:40:46.120 I think we can all feel the results of low testosterone levels.
00:40:50.420 I hope this conversation helps shed some light on a path for you moving forward.
00:40:54.720 If it's something you're interested in, make sure you check out Nicholas's work.
00:40:57.900 But in the meantime, and if you're ready to take your life to the next level, again, make
00:41:01.680 sure you join us inside of our mastermind, the Iron Council.

00:41:46.420 Thank you.
00:41:46.980 Thank you.
