00:00:22.780 you can call yourself a man. Gentlemen, what is going on today? My name is Ryan Mickler,
00:00:27.640 and I am the host and the founder of the order of man podcast and movement. I want to welcome you
00:00:32.160 here because I've got a very, very important Friday field notes for you. I think things are
00:00:36.860 about to get serious and it's going to hit the fan here before too long. That's my prediction.
00:00:43.020 Anyways, I'm going to get a little bit more into that. And I'm also going to share with you my
00:00:46.800 eight point plan for ensuring that you and the people you love and care about are protected
00:00:51.560 and you will thrive in the wake of, uh, even more civil unrest and the chaos that we're going to see
00:00:59.220 over the next six to 12 months. So we're going to talk about that. Uh, before I do, if you're new,
00:01:04.740 uh, this is a podcast designed to help you become a better man. If you're a father or a husband,

00:01:34.740 Jocko Willink and David Goggins and Andy Frisilla and Mark Manson and Ryan holiday. I'm just trying to
00:01:42.460 think of all the incredible men that we've had on. You can go back and check out the archives. Uh,
00:01:46.660 before I get into the meat of the discussion today, I also want to let you know that we've got our new
00:01:51.660 order of man store up and running. Uh, it looks really good. I had a friend, Megan Littlefield
00:01:57.340 come over and take some really high quality pictures of our products. So you can see what
00:02:00.880 they're all about. Uh, and then I had some friends, uh, come over and model some of the merchandise
00:02:06.220 for us as well. We've got new merchandise coming in daily at this point. Uh, and it's really my goal
00:02:12.260 to give you the highest quality shirts and hats and battle planners and decals and patches and
00:02:18.280 everything else that we have over there. Uh, it'd be a great way to support what we're doing and look
00:02:22.400 good in the meantime. Uh, so if you're interested, check that out. A new design looks really good.
00:02:27.900 You can do that at store.orderofman.com. Again, that's store.orderofman.com. In fact,
00:02:34.100 the hat I have on is called the Watchman hat. Uh, it's one of two different color iterations,
00:02:38.840 uh, and it is our newest hat. So you can check out this and everything else we've got over there
00:02:43.400 store.orderofman.com. All right, guys, let's get into it. Um, I titled this podcast brace for impact
00:02:51.880 because I believe that we're at a really, really important time in society, in, in culture in
00:03:00.640 general. Uh, and I believe that things are going to get significantly worse before they get any
00:03:05.600 better. Uh, my prediction is that Donald Trump will win, uh, the presidential election come
00:03:11.580 November. And, uh, my secondary prediction to that is that the civil unrest that we're seeing in some
00:03:19.100 of these major cities will not subside. In fact, if anything, I believe they're going to get worse
00:03:23.120 because of, uh, Donald Trump's successful, uh, reelection campaign. Uh, I don't think these
00:03:29.640 individuals are going to get what they want. In fact, I don't know that they even know what they
00:03:33.680 want other than just being immature children, uh, more interested in hell bent on destruction and
00:03:39.740 chaos and violence and terror, uh, than trying to affect any sort of positive change in society. So
00:03:47.080 if that's the case, and we know that these individuals are more interested in chaos and
00:03:53.460 disorder and confusion and fear, uh, then I can't envision a scenario in which that would subside.
00:04:01.980 I believe that if these protests, protests, I'll use quotation marks, uh, were with noble intent and
00:04:11.520 noble ambitions, uh, we would see something a little differently than what we're seeing now,
00:04:15.100 which is the violence and the chaos and the, in the, in the murder, uh, and, and just the madness
00:04:20.820 that we're seeing. So this isn't a podcast about rising up. It isn't a podcast about, you know,
00:04:29.260 fighting against the government. That's not what I want to talk with you about. And although we might
00:04:33.980 be able to have some of those conversations and talk about that, certainly from both sides of the
00:04:37.920 equation, uh, this is a podcast in making sure that you are the patriarch, that your family and
00:04:44.300 your community members and your employees need you to be in a patriarch is, is a leader is the male
00:04:51.360 leader of the household, of the community, of the, of the business. Uh, it isn't a negative word.
00:04:56.180 It isn't a swear word. Although a lot of people would have you believe that. In fact, I believe
00:04:59.680 that a patriarch's job is noble and virtuous and your ability to step into that role is going to
00:05:05.620 ultimately spell a success for you and your family and the people you care about, or, uh, their there's
00:05:11.340 and your ultimate demise. Now, some might say that's just hyperbole. I'm, I'm blowing this up and maybe I
00:05:17.220 am, but here's the deal. Let's say that I'm wrong. Let's say that come November, things start to
00:05:23.600 settle down. Everybody just retreats back to their life. And, and we don't see the violence
00:05:29.020 and the atrocities that we're seeing in some of these major cities. Now let's say that's the case
00:05:32.740 best case scenario. Well, if that happens, the eight points that I'm going to lay out for you today,
00:05:38.920 it's not going to be wasted. In fact, if things go well, you'll be in a better position. If you follow
00:05:44.620 the eight steps I'm going to share with you, if things go South, you'll be in a better spot because
00:05:48.380 of the eight things I'm going to share with you today. So regardless of whether I'm right or wrong,
00:05:53.400 this is the way, this is the strategy right here. So I'm going to outline this again, eight steps.
00:05:59.540 They're in no particular order. I would love to hear if you guys have more insight, different
00:06:03.880 information, a different perspective, let's do that civilly. Let's have these conversations.
00:06:08.340 I realize I'm not the end all save all when it comes to information about how to be a better
00:06:12.760 patriarch and a leader of your family and your community. But, uh, I feel like I've got an outline
00:06:16.620 pretty well here, but I'm certainly interested and open, uh, to what you have to share because a lot
00:06:21.860 of you guys come with different expertise and different backgrounds and different circumstances
00:06:26.800 and scenarios that you've actually seen. Uh, and that gives us some edges. It makes us more well
00:06:32.260 rounded. So let's keep those conversations alive on the socials, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter,
00:06:37.360 wherever you're doing the social media thing. All right, here we go. Number one, and this is my
00:06:40.880 background. Uh, guys, we've got to get our finances in order. All right. If there is any sort of
00:06:45.980 civil unrest, uh, if, if, if we see violence like this, uh, it's safe to say that some of the supply
00:06:54.200 chains are going to be cut off. I mean, you guys saw what happened with toilet paper, for example,
00:06:59.700 right. Uh, or access to food. I remember several months ago going into the grocery store and just
00:07:05.220 not seeing any food there. Um, but you've got to have your financial house in order. Uh, there's also
00:07:10.740 a weakening of the U S dollar. Every time we have things like this, we print a bunch of money,
00:07:15.200 we infuse more money into, uh, into the hands of, of our citizens. And what does that do? Well,
00:07:22.340 it devalues the dollar. And if the value of the dollar is, is dropped, then we have inflation,
00:07:31.200 right? And so if you're not in a financial position to deal with that inflation, meaning you don't have
00:07:36.880 wealth and it's not being built up and, uh, you don't have assets that are returning investments to
00:07:41.720 you and dividends and, and, and all these types of things, you're going to, you're actually going
00:07:46.780 to be on the downside of that, right? Because you don't have the money to keep up with the inflation
00:07:52.020 in order to buy the goods and the services and the products that you need to sustain yourself.
00:07:58.100 So you've got to get your financial house in order. Um, and I wrote a couple of sub sub
00:08:02.820 categories here. Number one, pay off your debt. Guys, you've got to get that debt paid off
00:08:08.260 because if you're paying three, four, five, six, $800 on a car payment or a personal loan or a
00:08:14.900 medical bill or student debt, uh, that's going to hurt because you're paying more than you should
00:08:21.120 and more than you have to. I mean, even if your interest rate is six, seven, 8%, you're probably
00:08:26.760 going to pay twice as much for that vehicle, uh, than had you just paid for it, you know, cash.
00:08:33.060 So how do we mitigate some of that and not pay so much to these financial institutions that are
00:08:37.660 preying upon you when you get that stuff paid off. And in the meantime, don't make any large
00:08:42.500 purchases that you can't finance on your own. Don't go to the bank and ask for money.
00:08:48.240 If you can't pay for it on your own, then I think specifically with the volatility in the market and
00:08:54.140 the volatility in culture and society in general, that you probably ought to just refrain from making
00:08:59.780 that purchase for now. There may be a reason or an opportunity down the road, but I would strongly
00:09:05.400 consider not doing that currently. Uh, also having cash on hand, you know, we've, we've been pulling
00:09:10.160 out a little cash periodically and just having that cash on hand. Uh, we've been diversifying our
00:09:15.520 portfolio into, uh, real and tangible assets and also into, uh, commodities, your precious metals,
00:09:22.960 gold, silver, things like that. Uh, I don't think that again, the, uh, the end all save all that
00:09:28.180 people think it is. Uh, but it certainly, uh, is a hedge against this inflation that we're likely
00:09:34.880 going to see is the value of the dollar continues to decline and plummet. So build your wealth,
00:09:40.540 be prudent with your financial decisions, pay off your debt as quickly and efficiently and
00:09:46.580 effectively as possible. If you want to know how to do that, I think Dave Ramsey's got some stuff,
00:09:51.120 some great stuff on paying off your debt. I don't agree with everything he's got going on,
00:09:54.820 but certainly with paying off debt, uh, and live a little bit more frugally over the next six months
00:10:00.500 to 12 months so that you can take care of this stuff. It's very, very important that you do.
00:10:04.200 And please get a notepad out. This, this is the roadmap right here. So get a notepad out and ask
00:10:10.820 yourself where you fall within each of these categories, sit down with your wife, uh, talk
00:10:15.100 with her about it, uh, talk with your children about what you're doing, uh, and, and measure
00:10:19.960 yourself, grade yourself. We're getting back into school. So give yourself a report card
00:10:24.680 on this, a grade. Uh, and if you're anything below a B, I would say you probably ought to
00:10:31.020 continue to shore that up and work on these things so you can get straight A's across the board on
00:10:34.320 these eight points. So number one, financial house in order. Number two, guys, you got to get
00:10:39.060 physically strong, right? I've talked about it before. I think you can be a good man, uh, and not
00:10:44.620 be at the pinnacle of your, uh, your, your physical prowess. I think that you can be overweight and
00:10:52.480 still be virtuous. I think you can be a kind person. I think you can be a good person, but
00:10:57.660 if you're out of shape, overweight, weak, the reality is that you cannot be as good at being
00:11:06.640 a man. And David Gilmore talks about this distinction. Uh, Jack Donovan reaches deep into
00:11:12.160 this distinction of the difference between a good man and being good at being a man. The reality is,
00:11:17.500 is that if you're overweight, you're weak and, and you're, you're not in physical condition,
00:11:22.500 then you just don't have the strength. You don't have the stamina. You don't have the energy and you
00:11:27.500 don't have the physical capacity to deal with some of the threats that you may deal with, whether
00:11:31.960 that's a violent encounter, uh, whether that's a natural disaster, some other type of, of emergency
00:11:37.600 or situation that you need to deal with, man, maybe even, you know, you get in a car wreck and you
00:11:41.740 need to lift a car hood, uh, off of your, your wife, or we've got this intersection just
00:11:46.520 outside of our house. And I swear there's at least two crashes at this intersection every single
00:11:52.600 month. And, and fortunately nothing's been serious at this point. Uh, and everybody's walked away just
00:11:58.060 fine with some minor cuts and bruises and scrapes and a little bit of a shock. But you know, if there's
00:12:03.880 something catastrophic out here, I want to be able to make sure that I do my part as a citizen of this
00:12:08.400 community to, to help out where I can. And if I'm physically strong, I'm going to be capable of doing
00:12:13.280 that. But if I'm not physically strong and I come up with all the excuses in the world as to why I
00:12:18.000 can't take care of myself, my body, uh, then, then I won't be putting myself in the position of being
00:12:24.180 that, that patriarch that I talked about earlier. So guys get strong, work out every single day,
00:12:30.640 uh, consume the right foods, drop the alcohol, all the things that, you know, you need to be doing.
00:12:36.780 I'm not telling you anything you haven't heard before. So again, write this down in your note,
00:12:41.620 your notepad and grade yourself. Are you an A? Are you a C? Are you a D? Are you an F? Like be
00:12:46.980 honest, be honest with yourself because if you're an F or a D right now, you know, you need to improve
00:12:53.080 it. But if you fool yourself or attempt to trick yourself into saying, yeah, I'm a B. Okay. Well,
00:12:58.860 then you're not going to do anything about it. So it might not be comfortable to realize and come to
00:13:03.440 the conclusion that you're fat, that you're obese, that you're unhealthy. But I would think that
00:13:11.040 now's a pretty good time to get honest about this and start to improve. And not to mention,
00:13:15.780 I mean, look at the wake of, of, of COVID-19. Uh, if you have some sort of a medical condition
00:13:21.980 or an illness, your likelihood of, of getting into a hospital has been diminished. Uh, certainly I'm
00:13:28.240 not even interested in going into a medical practitioner or a hospital at this time or any
00:13:33.900 other time, because then you subject yourselves to other potential illnesses. Uh, you subject
00:13:39.720 yourselves to obviously the cost associated with, uh, medical procedures and staying healthy
00:13:45.720 that way. Uh, it's, it's not good. It's not good. And it diminishes your sovereignty and
00:13:50.620 it diminishes, uh, your opportunity to lead your family and the people that you love. So keep
00:13:55.940 yourselves healthy, lean out, lose weight, exercise, get strong, get the right amount of
00:14:02.480 sleep, uh, limit the amount of unnecessary, uh, stress on your body. Some stress is good.
00:14:08.060 There's good stress and there's bad stress. You don't want that unnecessary stress. And by
00:14:11.600 following, for example, point number one with the finances, that's going to help your physical
00:14:15.140 health by the way, because you're not going to be so stressed out about how you're going
00:14:18.720 to make the mortgage payment because you got everything in order. So number one, finances,
00:14:22.680 number two, get strong, get fit and take care of your body and encourage your family to do
00:14:27.260 the same by the way. All right. Number three provisions guys, right now you need to be stocking
00:14:31.500 up on provisions. I talked about it earlier. We ran into a situation where there's no toilet
00:14:35.780 paper for months there, which was a crazy and wild thing. I told you, I went into grocery
00:14:40.000 stores. I'm sure you guys had similar experiences, uh, where provisions weren't as readily available
00:14:44.820 several months ago. I would jump on Amazon to buy certain items. And if they weren't considered
00:14:51.160 a necessity by the powers that be, I don't know who even determined that, uh, then I wasn't able
00:14:56.980 to get those things for like two to three, four weeks where usually I'm, I'm typically used to
00:15:01.180 getting it in, you know, 24 hours, 48 hours. So if things go South, you need to make sure you have
00:15:09.140 provisions on hand. You need to have food storage. You need to have ammunition. You need to have
00:15:15.040 blankets. You need to have fuel and clothing. Like these are all things that might be limited
00:15:20.860 if it hits the fan. And I don't want you to be in that position and find yourself wanting because
00:15:27.120 you didn't heed the advice that not only I've shared, but that people have been sharing for
00:15:31.440 hundreds of years. And you overlooked it because you thought, Oh, nothing bad can happen. Well,
00:15:36.680 if 2020 hasn't taught us anything, I don't know where you've been. Like, obviously things can come up
00:15:42.120 that we never would have anticipated. So build up your food storage, build up your, your blankets,
00:15:48.200 build up your, get batteries, get radios, get firearms, get ammunition, build up all the fuel,
00:15:55.700 water, all the provisions that you may need. Uh, should, should you be without, you know,
00:16:01.440 we're coming into winter in Maine. Uh, last year, fortunately was a relatively mild winter. Uh,
00:16:07.120 the power did go out towards the end of the season and it was out for, I think it was out for
00:16:11.820 almost four days. I mean, I'd never experienced anything like that in my life. And it wasn't,
00:16:17.180 it wasn't catastrophic. And we weren't any, in any real danger because we had neighbors and
00:16:22.480 people that could help if needed, but we had the provisions to make sure that, you know,
00:16:26.880 we were taken care of. So no power for four days and, and things were fine. You know,
00:16:30.780 we had the generator in place. We had the fuel that we needed and everything was, was fine.
00:16:35.680 But if we hadn't prepared, it may not have been fine. We would have been really, really cold.
00:16:40.300 Uh, we would have probably had to go somewhere else because we couldn't keep the house warm
00:16:44.860 enough for us to survive. Uh, so yeah, this stuff's important. So make sure you build up
00:16:49.840 the provisions. That's number three. Number four, training guys, you got to get training in.
00:16:54.660 You got to make your body a weapon. So martial arts, jujitsu, boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai. I don't
00:17:03.420 care what it is. Learn to harness the weapons that you have, because you may find yourself in an
00:17:10.800 altercation, a life and death altercation. We're actually seeing that we've seen two situations,
00:17:16.260 uh, over the past, what, five, six days where it's literally been a life and death encounter
00:17:23.060 and a life and death situation. So you need to get the training in place. And also, in addition to
00:17:28.500 making your body a weapon, you need to get firearms training. You, every American should own a firearm
00:17:34.960 and should be properly trained with that firearm. Now I know a lot of you guys listening are fully
00:17:41.280 on board with that. And I know that there's probably some of you who are listening who are like,
00:17:44.320 I don't need a gun. I don't want a gun. Well, look, the, the, there might be a point in your life
00:17:50.420 in the, in the not too distant future, because of my predictions earlier,
00:17:53.780 where having a firearm on you and you being able to utilize that weapon effectively
00:17:59.120 will quite literally save your life. I realize if you've never been exposed to firearms,
00:18:05.520 that they can be scary. There's a lot of uncertainty and doubt and smells and noises.
00:18:10.520 And it feels weird. I get all that. I get all that. Okay. I grew up not around firearms and it wasn't
00:18:16.920 until I moved to Utah when I was 14, 15 years old, that I really became exposed to firearms.
00:18:22.540 And there was a lot of doubt and fear in that until I learned how to handle a firearm and shoot
00:18:31.060 it properly and defend myself. You want a great resource on this? I would check out warrior poet
00:18:37.240 society and specifically warrior poet society network, which I'm actually part of. I have an
00:18:41.840 exclusive show over there. So I'm sharing content that you wouldn't get here on the podcast, but
00:18:46.140 John level does some great information on firearms training, both rifles and pistols.
00:18:51.860 Uh, there's another gentleman there who his name escapes me right now. Uh, he does a lot with knife
00:18:57.840 work and close quarter combat. So that would be, uh, another Avenue to explore. And then also
00:19:03.300 tennis, Tony sentiment, uh, real world tactical, uh, obviously deals with, uh, the physical component
00:19:09.780 of it and the tactical side of it. Um, he was on the podcast years and years ago, but if I remember
00:19:15.140 correctly, you form a SWAT officer. And I believe also don't quote me on this. I believe he's in the
00:19:20.060 Marine Corps for a while as well. Very interesting guys, very knowledgeable men. Uh, and, and if you
00:19:26.340 take those courses and go through those programs on the warrior post society network, you're going to
00:19:30.280 be more equipped, uh, to deal with a violent encounter. And if you don't deal with them via a
00:19:35.800 violent encounter and you have all this training, congratulations. It's better to have the training
00:19:40.120 and not need it than to need it and not have it. But it's that old, that old adage of better to be
00:19:45.520 a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war. This is what I want you to become. And by the way,
00:19:51.440 I think training yourself in, in some sort of martial arts and also training with firearms and other,
00:19:57.140 uh, weapons is going to make you a better human being. And you'll have more respect for life.
00:20:02.340 You'll have more respect for violent encounters. Uh, and I think you'll just be a more well-rounded
00:20:06.840 person, even if you don't have to actually use your training, which would be a good thing.
00:20:10.720 That's what we want. We don't want to have to use it, but we want it available. Should we need to?
00:20:15.180 All right. Number five, let me recap real quick. So number one finances, number two is your physical
00:20:20.620 health. Number three is building up your provisions. Uh, number four is training. And then number five
00:20:26.900 is fortifying your positions. You've got to fortify your positions. You've got your home. You've got your,
00:20:33.080 your, your, your castle. This is where you're probably going to make a stand, or maybe you're
00:20:38.100 going to be in your vehicle. I mean, we've seen that where people have quite literally been ripped
00:20:41.920 out of their vehicles and beaten nearly to death. So if your position isn't fortified, well, you're
00:20:49.760 just exposing yourself to unnecessary risk. So when it comes to your home, do you have security systems
00:20:55.600 in place? Do you have a dog? Does everybody know how to behave and how to act? Are all the doors locked
00:21:00.680 in? Are all the points of entry secured? Uh, are there, are there plans in place, not just
00:21:05.320 for violent encounters, but natural disasters or a fire or a power outage? Like I talked
00:21:10.780 about earlier, this is your space. It reminds me in a, in a, in a funny way of, you know, home
00:21:16.580 alone. I think if I remember right, Kevin McAllister says, this is my home. I have to defend
00:21:21.780 it. Well, this is your castle. This is your space. You own this. This is yours. So protect
00:21:29.540 it, fortify it, make it a bunker that is impenetrable and make sure that your family and
00:21:35.520 the people that you love are safe within the walls of your home. Again, lighting security
00:21:40.840 systems, little tactics that you can do to give yourself a little bit more time. If you
00:21:44.880 had some, uh, intruder coming to place, dogs are another layer to this. I talked about layers
00:21:49.980 in a podcast several months ago, just because you have a dog doesn't mean you're protected just
00:21:54.940 because you have a firearm in your house. Doesn't mean that you'll be able to ward off a
00:21:57.360 intruder. Just because you have a security system doesn't mean that somebody won't be
00:22:03.240 able to breach that security system. Okay. So you need to have depth and layers to fortifying
00:22:08.680 your position. Think about it in your vehicle as well. Do you have a firearm in your vehicle?
00:22:14.040 Are you able to defend yourself? Can you stay out of trouble? One thing I think about a lot
00:22:18.460 is when I see cars pull up right behind other vehicles, like why would anybody ever do that?
00:22:23.660 I think they do it because they don't think about it, but you need to give yourself space
00:22:26.600 because if you're right bumper to bumper with a car in front of you and you need to get out of
00:22:31.440 that situation, you're not going to be able to, but if you give yourself some distance and space,
00:22:35.720 if something happens, you've got plenty of time and space to maneuver where you need to maneuver.
00:22:40.540 So start thinking about these scenarios. What would happen if, and then play that scenario out
00:22:46.280 and then build in the provision and the contingency to be able to keep you and your loved
00:22:50.320 ones safe in those encounters. I know I'm really not getting deep into these things. I'm,
00:22:55.600 I'm kind of covering it from a 30,000 foot view, but these are all things to consider.
00:22:59.820 And then you, again, can grade yourself, give yourself the report card. And if you're like,
00:23:04.240 yeah, I really need to shore up my training, then, you know, we can seek out additional training and
00:23:09.540 I can give you some additional resources, but I'm trying to give you the overview. Now
00:23:12.720 you look at it, you determine specifically what you need to improve upon. Cause some of you guys are
00:23:17.980 pretty good in all of these areas. Some of you guys are pretty good in a few of these areas.
00:23:21.220 And some of you guys don't have any of this stuff figured out. I'm, I'm probably pretty good in
00:23:26.380 like 80% of these, even as I go through this, there's things that I can improve and I will
00:23:30.520 improve. So again, number five, fortify your position. Number six, we've got three more.
00:23:35.520 Number six is work on your skillsets. And when I'm talking about skillsets, I'm talking about things
00:23:41.440 that are, that are applicable, things that are practical, things that you're going to be able to
00:23:44.660 use, that you can be able to sell maybe services or products or information. I think about my wife
00:23:50.240 with gardening. That's a skillset that might actually come in handy. We had dinner just last
00:23:55.960 night. My wife made a BLTs and we had green beans. She grew the tomatoes out of the, uh,
00:24:03.540 out of the garden. She grew the green beans, obviously. And so we have a little bit of
00:24:08.160 dependency there, excuse me, independence there. We're not dependent on outside factors. We have this
00:24:14.420 stuff built in. She's also doing beekeeping. So we've got that as a provision. Uh, there's,
00:24:19.580 there's things that we've built into place. As far as our skillsets go, the skillsets that I'm
00:24:24.340 developing, even as I'm running this organization and this business are helping me, uh, to be able
00:24:29.340 to earn income, which plays into point number one finances. And now I'm location, uh, independent,
00:24:35.900 right? I don't need to be bogged down in a big city where I'm not safe and we're not comfortable.
00:24:40.080 I can go wherever I need to go, uh, but still be able to provide revenue and income to our family
00:24:47.360 because of the skillsets that I've developed. If you have, uh, found yourself in a physical job,
00:24:54.180 you go to an office and nine to five, something like that. Okay. There's nothing wrong with that,
00:24:58.300 but consider what might happen. You might get stuck in a city. There might be a fire. You might run into
00:25:05.820 a riot. How do you defend yourself against that? Of course you do all these things that we talked
00:25:12.060 about, but you can also develop an online business right on the side. And maybe at some point, like
00:25:19.700 we've been able to do with order of man, that that will entirely replace you having to leave your house
00:25:24.260 and go into the city or go somewhere where it's not safe. So again, it's all about this, this idea
00:25:29.620 of sovereignty, making yourself sovereign, that you have direct control and authority over how you spend
00:25:35.240 your time, your energy, and your resources. So what skillsets, as you're writing this out,
00:25:40.380 what skillsets do you need to develop in order to shore up your finances, in order to, uh, keep
00:25:47.720 yourself safe, uh, in order to build up the provisions that you need when it comes to food
00:25:52.980 and other things? Can you sew clothes? Can you make blankets? Do you know, can you do basic repairs
00:25:58.540 around the house? Some of this stuff's going to come in handy. So you better be aware of it.
00:26:03.740 All right. Number seven, having emergency plans in place, guys, you got to have these emergency plans
00:26:09.140 in place. All right. Because if they're not in place, then nobody's going to know what to do.
00:26:13.280 And even though you might make the right call in that scenario, might, that's a big might.
00:26:18.340 Not everybody will make the same call and there's differences of opinion and there's different
00:26:22.240 ideas and there's different perspectives. And like, if I haven't talked to my kids about how to deal
00:26:25.900 with a fire in the house, I might do the right thing. My wife might do the right thing. And my kids
00:26:30.140 might die because I didn't communicate effectively with them what they should do in these situations.
00:26:35.600 If there's an intruder, okay. If, if, if there's a power outage or, you know, if I'm in somewhere
00:26:44.580 else and I'm not here, does, does my wife have the combo to the safe? Is there a plan in place?
00:26:51.180 What are they going to do? How am I going to get home? If I'm not close and roads are closed,
00:26:54.980 or there's some, something that, that is preventing me from, from getting back to my family.
00:27:01.220 Do you have the bug out bag? Do you have the bug in bag? Do you have the routes figured out?
00:27:06.720 How well do you know your area? I mean, I drive around literally every single day and I look for
00:27:12.780 new back roads, new streets, new ways to get to different places in my immediate area that I've
00:27:19.020 never driven before. And about, I would say 60 to 70% of the time, I find a little different route,
00:27:25.740 a little different pull-off that I wasn't aware of. And I'm doing that deliberately and intentionally
00:27:30.380 because I want to know these roads and I want to know the woods. And I want to know exactly where
00:27:34.720 I am relative to other points in the area. This is my job. And it doesn't take a lot. If you build
00:27:42.520 this up over time and look, as nasty as things are getting right now, they are going to get worse,
00:27:47.560 but we've got some time. So don't squander it and think, Oh yeah, I've got 30 days. I've got 60 days.
00:27:53.980 I've got 90 days. I've got a year. Oh, that won't ever happen. We don't know if it'll happen.
00:27:58.360 So start preparing yourself now. And even if you just get 1% better in each of these areas,
00:28:03.480 every single day, you get 30, 60, 90 days out, man, you're starting to look pretty good
00:28:08.980 and pretty protected. So work those emergency plans and think about all these scenarios.
00:28:15.100 That's one of the reoccurring themes in this, today's discussion. Think about and play out all
00:28:21.180 these scenarios and how would you be jeopardized? How would you be compromised? Where are your
00:28:26.580 vulnerabilities and your weaknesses? Cause that's where, that's what people will exploit
00:28:31.320 by the way, where they're going to look for the weaknesses. And if you have 90% good on
00:28:39.180 all these things, you're that 10% is going to be exploited. Nature's going to do it. Nature's
00:28:43.520 going to find a way to exploit it. Or people are going to find a way to exploit it, to get
00:28:47.740 what you have or to make your life hell and miserable. So don't let there be weaknesses,
00:28:54.800 find them, seek them out, play out the scenario and then shore up that weakness.
00:28:59.520 The last one here, guys, I think this one's a little different maybe than, than you've heard
00:29:02.720 in the past. And maybe some of you have heard things like this, but the last point I wanted
00:29:07.000 to make, and again, these are in no particular order is to build a network. You got to build a
00:29:12.340 network. I think a lot of guys covered the first seven areas I talked about pretty well,
00:29:17.060 but then they don't, they don't have a network in their community. They aren't networked. They
00:29:21.020 aren't connected. They don't know people. They don't know their neighbors. They don't have other
00:29:24.360 people who are valuable, who have some of these skillsets in place, who have provisions. We've,
00:29:29.260 we've got that, but we've spent the last year and two or three months at this point,
00:29:34.200 building up our network, building up our friendships, getting to know people,
00:29:38.340 communicating with law enforcement in the area, first responders. We have relationships with these
00:29:44.000 individuals by design, by design. We want to know these people because if, if something goes South
00:29:51.260 and we want to be able to be connected with these individuals, I've got a neighbor who's probably one
00:29:55.800 of the best people to know because he knows how to do everything. And, and we're friends by design
00:30:01.640 because he's, he's been a good friend. He's been helpful to my family. We've gotten to know each
00:30:06.380 other. My kids play with their kids. And, uh, he's, he's a good person to know.
00:30:12.220 Do you know the people in your area? And if you don't, now's probably the time to start doing that
00:30:18.120 because people look after the people they like, and they know, and they trust. And if you don't
00:30:23.660 know your neighbor, it's less likely that you're going to look after them. And also less likely
00:30:27.480 they're going to look after you. But if you know your neighbors, you have connections with these
00:30:32.020 individuals, you eat and break food, uh, break bread together. It's more likely that you're
00:30:38.080 going to be able to tap into that network. Should you need to, and they can tap into you. Should
00:30:42.660 they need to, this is reciprocal. You don't have these relationships just so you can get something
00:30:47.720 when you need it, but that you can provide as well. We, we always offer and provide more
00:30:52.440 than we consume. But guys, if you're not building a network, get to know the people in your area,
00:30:58.140 start with your neighbors, figure out where your coworkers live, uh, find friends, go to the gym.
00:31:05.720 These, these things all tie together. Uh, so that you have networks and people everywhere you go.
00:31:12.660 I think about the movies, you know, I have like Jason Bourne and he goes overseas and he has this, uh,
00:31:18.360 this, this connection in London, right? Cause he's anywhere or it's somewhere in South America. He goes
00:31:23.620 and he's got another connection there. That's what you want. Anywhere you go, you should be connected
00:31:27.480 to somebody who you could rely upon and they could rely upon you. It's going to make you more safe.
00:31:33.000 It's going to make you better protected. And it's going to expand your, your capabilities in
00:31:37.040 keeping yourself and others alive. Guys, we live in interesting times. Interesting is mild.
00:31:43.440 We live in dangerous times as well. And as I predicted earlier in the podcast, I fear it's only
00:31:49.420 going to get worse, but I use that fear. Like I don't, I don't let that fear paralyze me. And I think
00:31:55.060 a lot of people do, right? So I don't want to think about it. You know, I'm afraid, or I wonder
00:31:59.320 what will happen. So I'm not going to think about it. That's, that's paralyzing you. The fear is there
00:32:04.480 for a reason. It's there to serve you. It's there to help you. It's there to point out vulnerabilities
00:32:09.420 and weaknesses so that you can do something about it. So guys, over the next 90 days, maybe a little
00:32:17.560 less at this point, it might be closer to 60 at this point. Uh, I want you to start working on this
00:32:23.560 stuff. Give yourself list all these out again, finances, health, your provisions, your training,
00:32:31.420 fortifying your positions, developing your skillsets, having emergency plans, and then
00:32:36.040 building out a network. That's 60 days before I think things really start to get nasty and miserable,
00:32:42.420 not just in the big cities. It's going to start going into the suburb. It's going to spread like a
00:32:47.040 virus. It's going to get into the suburbs. It's going to get into more of these rural areas and you need
00:32:52.840 to be prepared. Your family's relying upon you. Your, your neighbors and your community members are
00:32:57.660 relying upon you. Don't find yourself wanting in that time. This is the moment where we really
00:33:05.940 determine if we've done all that we can as men and what kind of men we are. And I want you to be able
00:33:12.880 to pass that test, not only because that's what we're called to do, but because people will be relying
00:33:19.000 upon it. Life and death scenarios. All right, get it done guys. Let me know, um, on your report card,
00:33:26.440 you know, give yourself a grade and let me know, just hit me up on, I'm most active on Instagram.
00:33:30.700 So do it there. Uh, I'll make a post about this and list out these eight, uh, these eight, um,
00:33:36.300 strategies or tactics, whatever factors, whatever you want to call them. And, uh, you can let me know
00:33:40.560 where you stand and what you plan on doing to shore these areas up. All right, guys, we've got a lot
00:33:45.420 of work to do 60 days roughly, uh, to get this done and get this taken care of before things get
00:33:49.980 nasty. And even if they don't get nasty, good, you're more prepared, you're better off. And so
00:33:54.920 are the people you care about. All right, guys, we'll be back next week for another interview on
00:33:59.320 Tuesday, but until then go out there, get these things in place, take action and become the man
00:34:05.540 you are meant to be. Thank you for listening to the order of man podcast. You're ready to take
00:34:10.280 charge of your life and be more of the man you were meant to be. We invite you to join the order
00:34:14.920 of man.com.
