00:00:00.000 You're a man of action. You live life to the fullest, embrace your fears, and boldly chart
00:00:04.980 your own path. When life knocks you down, you get back up one more time, every time.
00:00:10.420 You are not easily deterred or defeated, rugged, resilient, strong. This is your life. This is who
00:00:17.200 you are. This is who you will become. At the end of the day, and after all is said and done,
00:00:22.780 you can call yourself a man. Gentlemen, what is going on today? My name is Brian Michler.
00:00:27.520 I'm your host and the founder of the Order of Man podcast and movement. Welcome here today.
00:00:33.220 If you are new, let me tell you, this is a movement to reclaim and restore masculinity.
00:00:38.140 And we do that primarily through this podcast. We interview incredible men, guys like Jocko
00:00:42.840 Willing, Grant Cardone, Andy Fusilla, Tim Kennedy, Tim Tebow, Terry Crews, Matthew McConaughey,
00:00:49.700 Ben Shapiro. It's a broad spectrum of men that we interview, we have conversations with,
00:00:56.040 and I try to extract their information, their knowledge, their wisdom, and impart that upon
00:01:00.780 you and I so that we can implement it in our own lives. So glad you're here. We've been going for
00:01:05.420 eight and a half years strong now, coming up on nine years. And of course, we're rolling into
00:01:10.000 2024, which I'm excited about. And I wanted to talk with you today about this concept of
00:01:15.340 procrastination. So many men, including myself at times, procrastinate. We put things off and
00:01:20.640 we kick the can down the road when we ought to be engaged in the fight, whatever that fight looks
00:01:25.980 like. If it's to get healthier, if it's to complete that work assignment, maybe it's to start a business
00:01:32.760 or to re-engage with your wife or kids. We have a tendency of procrastinating the things that are
00:01:37.880 challenging, the things that are difficult, and frankly, the things that are uncomfortable.
00:01:42.260 And that's, I think, really what it comes down to. So I'm going to talk with you about five key
00:01:46.220 strategies that you can employ in your life to reduce, eliminate, and eradicate procrastination
00:01:52.300 so that you can get your shit done. And that's ultimately what we need to do as men, get the job
00:01:57.820 done, get the work done, and of course, read the benefits of that for ourselves and for the people
00:02:02.160 that we care about. Now, before I get into that, I do want to tell you, and many of you have been
00:02:05.620 procrastinating on something else, and that's joining our exclusive brotherhood, the Iron Council.
00:02:11.020 This is a band of brothers. We've got over 1,100, almost 1,200, I believe, members now at this point.
00:02:16.220 All working together. We're going through monthly assignments. We're challenging each other. We're
00:02:21.460 doing a nutrition challenge this month, in fact, and we're holding each other accountable. And the
00:02:27.460 camaraderie, of course, that comes with other men who are motivated, ambitious. They want to succeed.
00:02:32.640 They want you to succeed. And many of you have been procrastinating and sitting on the fence and
00:02:37.100 joining us. I can't think of a better time to join us than the end of the year as we roll into 2024,
00:02:43.200 because many of you are thinking about goal planning, goal setting, achieving big things,
00:02:48.320 making 2024 your year. I want that for you. And in order to have that, you're going to have to do
00:02:54.240 something different in your life. The Iron Council might be that difference. We are open as of today,
00:03:00.340 the release of this podcast, December 15th, but we're only open for a very short window
00:03:04.820 because we want to make sure that anybody who does join us over the next two weeks has the
00:03:10.320 opportunity to get onboarded and ramped up and up to speed very quickly, very efficiently inside the
00:03:16.060 Iron Council. So we dedicate a lot of time to the new men who join us. So if you're interested,
00:03:22.840 check out at orderofman.com slash Iron Council, orderofman.com slash Iron Council. You'll watch
00:03:29.840 a very short video, and then you can go to the frequently asked questions and figure out what all
00:03:34.340 we do, and you can get signed up and registered with us. Orderofman.com slash Iron Council.
00:03:39.380 All right, guys, let's talk about procrastination. I don't need to beat a dead horse. You all know
00:03:43.180 you procrastinate, as do I. We all know when we're doing it, even subconsciously, we make up little
00:03:49.480 justifications and rationalizations, and we excuse our behavior away. But ultimately, at the end of the
00:03:54.920 day, we know when we're putting things off, maybe you're experiencing the negative ramifications
00:04:00.940 of your procrastination. Maybe it's just a gut feeling. Maybe there's this sense of overwhelm
00:04:07.480 because things are piling up on your plate that you haven't addressed effectively.
00:04:11.840 So we all know we need to stop procrastinating. You want to get healthy. You want to get strong.
00:04:16.520 You want to get fit. You want to build that business. You want to grow your bank account.
00:04:19.140 You want to pay off that debt. You want to connect with your wife. You want to connect with your kids.
00:04:22.200 It all comes down to doing it now. So I'm going to share with you five key strategies. Number one,
00:04:26.720 and these are in no particular order. But number one is you must link the effort to the result.
00:04:32.720 Link the effort to the result. Everybody daydreams. I do. I think about relationships,
00:04:39.180 or I think about business, or I think about any number of goals and objectives that I have in my
00:04:43.920 life, desires even. And I daydream about what those things are. Nobody has a problem daydreaming about
00:04:50.260 their goals. What they have a problem with is actively working towards those goals because that's when,
00:04:56.140 of course, the rubber meets the road and that's where it becomes challenging. It's easy to sit
00:05:00.980 back and rest and daydream about all the wonderful things that you want in your life. It's infinitely
00:05:05.600 harder to actually go out and do the work required to achieve the result that you desire.
00:05:11.820 But if you want to have what you say you want to have, then you've got to do the work. And that means
00:05:19.880 that there's going to be days that are monotonous and mundane and boring and maybe even painful to
00:05:27.660 a degree. I know I just got back from a hunt last week and I came back to over 200 emails that I had
00:05:33.320 to address and go through. You think I wanted to go through those? No, of course not. But I hammered
00:05:39.140 through them because I link the correspondence with the guys who reach out or the podcast
00:05:46.460 approvals or acceptance or denial or whatever it might be to the result that I hope to achieve.
00:05:56.400 And so I know that it's part of the process. I'm having an international, 76 international scout
00:06:03.240 restored. And I think about the chain of events that needs to happen for an engine to turn over
00:06:07.540 and that truck to fire up. If you're missing one of those crucial elements, even though it might seem
00:06:13.180 boring or mundane or monotonous or unimportant, the truck's not going to fire. The same is true
00:06:20.100 for you in your life. If you're missing one key component, then your goal is not going to fire the
00:06:25.160 way that you want it to fire. If you want to reconnect with your wife, but you're not taking her out on
00:06:30.480 dates weekly and showing her that you love her and care about her and she's important to you,
00:06:34.660 then that relationship is not going to fire up. If you're trying to grow a business and you're
00:06:41.880 really great once you get in front of a potential customer, but you're really poor on reaching out
00:06:46.920 to potential customers, then the business is never going to fire up. So what I would suggest to you
00:06:53.340 when it comes to linking the effort to the result is look at the end result and then reverse engineer
00:06:59.180 the process and ask yourself what things need to be done. Now, you don't need to do all of them,
00:07:04.580 by the way. Maybe initially as you're starting a business, for example, but there are certain
00:07:08.600 things that you can delegate and you should. Key example, I don't like editing my podcast,
00:07:13.880 so I don't edit the podcast. Still needs to get done, but I can outsource and delegate that to Chad,
00:07:19.280 who does a wonderful job on making sure that we are getting the episodes out on time and that
00:07:24.920 are edited and the sound quality is where it needs to be. And this is a product that I'm proud to
00:07:29.120 present to you guys. So I know everything that needs to get done and I do what I can do and then
00:07:34.780 I delegate the rest. But I know that even the most mundane, posting on social media, getting the
00:07:42.120 podcast edited, reaching out to potential guests, all of that is part of the game. And even when I don't
00:07:48.080 like doing something, I look at the end result. If I go to the gym, I did abs this morning.
00:07:52.760 There's certain movements I don't like. I don't like doing ab wheels, but I do them because I'd
00:07:59.140 like to have a six pack and I'd like to lose weight and I'd like to get strong and I'd like
00:08:02.660 to look good and I'd like to feel good. So it's not about, I don't like doing this. It's about,
00:08:07.880 this is what's required to achieve the objective. All right. Number two is identifying the lowest
00:08:13.340 common denominator. So obviously this is a math term, but we're talking about building momentum.
00:08:18.960 Sometimes when you're starting a new venture, a new dream, a new goal, a new desire, a new objective,
00:08:24.560 it seems so daunting and overwhelming because we've never done it before. And I know we've never
00:08:32.060 done it before because if we've done it, then we would already have it. So if you're trying to get
00:08:35.540 fit, you're trying to rekindle a relationship, you're trying to start a business, you're trying
00:08:38.760 to get a promotion. Those are new things to you because if they weren't new, if they were old things
00:08:43.820 to you, you would already have the achieved desire objective. And because they're new, sometimes it's
00:08:49.540 very, very overwhelming. It could be emotionally stressful, mentally stressful, physically stressful.
00:08:56.720 And so what do we do? We avoid, right? That's going to be painful. I'm not doing that. You wake up at 6am
00:09:04.380 this morning and you think, I really want to go to the gym, but, oh, I got to get up and it's cold.
00:09:09.720 And I got to get my pre-workout ready and I got to get dressed and I got to go to the gym and I got
00:09:16.120 to figure out my programming and I got to drive there. And it's, it seems a lot of the times
00:09:21.200 overwhelming. If in your relationship, you and your wife have really been struggling for potentially
00:09:25.680 years and there's a lot of contention and animosity, maybe even hostility, but you know,
00:09:31.420 there's still some love or a spark somewhere deep down inside of there. It's hard to imagine you going
00:09:36.260 from where you currently are to where you were or where you would like to be. And so it's
00:09:41.260 overwhelming. Anything I do is futile. Anything I work on is not going to move the needle.
00:09:47.880 Guys, sometimes the overcoming the concept of procrastination is just reducing your work to the
00:09:56.640 lowest common denominator. When I was in the financial planning business, I started to get
00:10:01.120 very serious about how I could turn potential clients into actual paying clients. And I started
00:10:08.600 to reverse engineer the process like I'm telling you about now. And I had goals and quotas and things
00:10:13.720 like that, that I wanted to meet. And so I worked backwards from what I wanted to sell on a daily or
00:10:18.560 monthly basis. And then I worked backwards to, okay, if I want to sell this amount of investments or
00:10:24.220 product or whatever it might be, then I need to close this many clients. And if I want to close
00:10:31.060 this many clients, then that means I need to, based on past experience, meet with this many
00:10:36.800 clients. And if I want to meet with this many clients, then that means I need to get ahold of
00:10:42.020 this many clients. And if I need to get ahold of that many clients, then that means I need to make
00:10:47.100 this amount of phone calls. And if I need to make this amount of phone calls on a monthly basis,
00:10:51.580 here's what I need to do on a daily basis. And ultimately what it came down to is I needed to
00:10:56.740 make 10 sales calls, new sales calls, not existing, not follow-ups, but 10 new sales calls per day.
00:11:05.620 Lowest common denominator. If I did that, then I knew I would achieve my objective, my goals.
00:11:13.140 That's pretty insane to think about. All I needed to focus on is not how I close,
00:11:18.100 not how I do this, not the sales strategies, not the techniques, although that is important.
00:11:22.020 But if I could just focus on making 10 calls per day, I knew I would hit my goals.
00:11:28.360 That's the point that we need to get to. Because there were days where I'd be at six or seven
00:11:33.020 and it's bumping up at five o'clock. And I'd look at my sheet because I kept track of it.
00:11:38.740 We're going to talk about that in a minute. And I'd see, okay, I've got seven calls. I can't leave.
00:11:44.040 I've got a half an hour. I can't leave until I get 10. And I'd go through my Rolodex or I'd go
00:11:48.660 through a cold call list or I'd make a cold call or whatever I needed to do to get to 10.
00:11:54.300 There were very few days once I identified that, that I actually missed that number.
00:11:59.020 So when we're talking about procrastination, guys, don't get so overwhelmed with the end result and
00:12:03.560 reverse engineer back into the lowest common denominator, which for me and my business was 10 sales
00:12:11.300 calls. If you're trying to pay off debt, don't look at the $30,000 vehicle loan.
00:12:17.900 Just look at the monthly payment. In fact, better yet, look at the weekly payment.
00:12:21.380 If your monthly payment is $500, that's $125 a week. Okay. That's manageable. I can do $125 a week.
00:12:29.400 In fact, I could probably do 200, right? And so now you're going to pay $200 a week,
00:12:33.900 the lowest common denominator. And now you're paying 800 instead of 500 a month. And you're going to have
00:12:38.020 that thing paid off in 12 or 15 months earlier. Lowest common denominator. If you want to rekindle
00:12:43.900 the relationship, it's not about, I would just wish we had a great marriage. Well, what are the
00:12:47.840 things that produce a great marriage or a great relationship? Courtship. Really, that's what it is.
00:12:54.720 So it's a, it's a phone call. It's a text telling a person that you love them. It's a note in the
00:13:00.380 morning on the mirror or finding a note in their car or dropping off lunch to them or delivering
00:13:07.360 some flowers to their, to their work or cooking them dinner or taking them out. These things are
00:13:14.360 small, simple things to do, but you start building these things up and they add up. And before you
00:13:20.860 know it, the spark that was just a little, a little spark before is now a raging fire because you broke
00:13:28.840 it down to the lowest common denominator. And you did that consistently, habitually and religiously.
00:13:33.360 And inevitably you're going to produce the result that you desire. All right. Number three. So I
00:13:38.440 want to talk about one of the, uh, one, a law that, uh, that a lot of you guys are familiar with,
00:13:43.960 and that is, uh, Parkinson's law. And I just pulled it up here because I want to make sure I get it
00:13:48.020 right. But Parkinson's law states this, that work expands to fill the time allotted for its
00:13:54.380 completion. Let me say that again. Your work expands to fill the time allotted for its completion.
00:14:02.020 So the point that I wanted to make on this one is that we need to learn to collapse our timeframes
00:14:08.180 and use Parkinson's law to our advantage. Most of us aren't even aware of what Parkinson's law is,
00:14:15.300 let alone using it to our advantage, because by default, it's a disadvantage. If I give you 12 months
00:14:21.840 to lose 20 pounds, guess how long it's going to take you? 12 months. If I give you six months
00:14:30.600 to lose 20 pounds, guess how long it's going to take you? Six months, three months, et cetera,
00:14:37.280 et cetera, et cetera. It's got to be reasonable. Of course, if I told you by the next day, that won't
00:14:40.340 work. So it's got to be reasonable, but we expand our timeframe so far out in advance
00:14:48.500 and it's unnecessary. And it allows us to procrastinate and drag our feet and not do
00:14:54.260 what's required to achieve the objective. And we just keep pushing it down and down and down and
00:14:58.800 down the road. So what I'd like you to do is take a look at your goals and your desires and objectives
00:15:03.180 and ask yourself, can I do this in half the time? And if I can, what needs to happen in order for me
00:15:09.860 to accomplish that goal? So if you want to run a marathon, can I do this not next year, but can I do it
00:15:15.000 or next fall, but can I do it in the spring? If I want to lose 20 pounds, is it going to take me
00:15:19.960 12 months or is it going to take me six months? What would need to happen in order for me to do
00:15:24.020 it in six months? If I want to make this amount of sales in my business and that's going to take
00:15:29.240 me a quarter, can I do it in 30 days? And if I could do it in 30 days, what would I have to do
00:15:34.200 in order to accomplish that? The shorter your timeframe, again, within reason, it's got to be a
00:15:40.640 reasonably achievable thing. But if you shorten your timeframe, you're going to notice that you
00:15:46.140 get a lot done. Let me give you an example. Years and years ago, when I was in the financial planning
00:15:49.880 practice, I really realized that I wanted to be home with my family more specifically on the
00:15:54.940 weekends. And I made this decision that on Friday, every Friday, I was going to shave three hours off
00:16:00.480 my work week. Instead of wrapping up at five, I was going to wrap up at two and have a two and a half
00:16:05.320 day weekend rather than just the two day weekend. And as I was doing this, I thought, well, man,
00:16:11.080 this is going to cut into my work and my productivity. So I had to take that into consideration.
00:16:17.160 And ultimately, I decided that that was still the best thing to do. The business was running and
00:16:21.460 we were having some success with the growth of the business and the revenue. And so I thought,
00:16:26.260 well, that's something I can sacrifice. I can sacrifice three hours a week. And so I made that
00:16:30.200 decision. What was interesting is I found that I didn't sacrifice anything when it came to my
00:16:37.620 business productivity. In fact, Fridays were some of my best, most productive days. Why? Because I
00:16:43.660 worked not from eight to five, but I worked from eight to two. So I shaved three hours off of my day.
00:16:49.720 But because I realized that I had a very short window to accomplish what I wanted to accomplish,
00:16:54.960 I kicked ass. I was faster. I didn't waste so much time. I didn't dink around.
00:17:00.200 There wasn't other things that were distracting me. I was hyper-focused on what needed to get done
00:17:04.780 in a shorter window. And so not only did I get a longer weekend with my family,
00:17:08.960 I was more productive at work, which generated more revenue than I had when I was working longer
00:17:14.300 hours. It's a prime example of Parkinson's law at work. Guys, you can do this in your life if
00:17:21.380 you're willing to examine your current schedule, your current productivity, and be honest about
00:17:27.580 your productivity or lack thereof and ask yourself, how can I collapse the timeframe?
00:17:33.480 If the project is slated to be done in 90 days, how can you get it done in 60?
00:17:37.720 If you want to get fit in 90 days, how can you do it in 30? And then you can plan accordingly. And
00:17:43.300 like we said a minute ago, reverse engine of the process to figure out what you need to do
00:17:47.040 on a daily basis in order to achieve the objective in a shorter timeframe.
00:17:51.460 All right. Number four, I'm a big list guy. I love lists. This has worked really,
00:17:57.580 really well for me. I have a lot of ideas and thoughts and insights and concepts and programs
00:18:03.260 and products and merchandise and things that I want to do. And what I realized years and years ago is
00:18:09.280 that I never got it out of my brain onto paper where it was organized, it was structured, and I can
00:18:15.300 actually go through and check those things off a list. And it became very frustrating and overwhelming
00:18:20.040 for me because it was just bouncing around in this echo chamber of my mind. And I would forget things.
00:18:28.160 I would get so inundated and overwhelmed with the amount of projects or ideas that I had that I
00:18:32.280 wouldn't even start anything because I was so overwhelmed. And so what I started to do is I
00:18:37.420 would leave field note journals out everywhere on my nightstand, on my desk, in my car, at work,
00:18:43.020 wherever it was, so that if I had an idea, especially at night, because I had this tendency of laying in
00:18:48.680 bed and started thinking about work, and then I couldn't get any sleep. So what I started to do
00:18:54.360 is write these ideas down in the moment. So if it's 10, 11 o'clock at night, and I'm lying there
00:19:00.940 in bed trying to go to sleep, and I have this idea of a new product that I want to develop for the men
00:19:04.760 that we're working to serve, I'm not going to let it bounce around here. I'm going to actually write
00:19:08.580 it down in that field notes journal. And then what I do in the morning is I compile all of those
00:19:15.040 field notes that I might have from the day or night before into my battle planner. And I can pull this
00:19:20.100 up and I can see that I've got roughly 12 tasks today that need to get accomplished. And I quite
00:19:26.580 literally write them down and I check them off as I accomplish them. In fact, to go even a little
00:19:33.540 deeper, there might be certain things that I can't complete in the moment because they require a little
00:19:38.440 bit more attention, or maybe it's waiting on somebody else to do something. If I've attempted it,
00:19:43.160 I put a slash. If I've attempted it or it's in progress, I put a little slash in front of it.
00:19:51.020 Once it's completed and done, I take that slash and just do another slash and turn it into an X.
00:19:56.260 Once it's an X, I know it's done. So there's three categories my tasks fall into. Number one,
00:20:02.180 incomplete, meaning that there's no slash or there's no X. I haven't even started it yet.
00:20:06.720 So that would be not even started. Number two is incomplete, meaning I've started it.
00:20:11.680 Maybe I had to coordinate with a person on a podcast. And so I've reached out to that person.
00:20:16.680 That's my slash, but I haven't yet heard back from them. And then what that allows me to do is look
00:20:20.940 back at it tomorrow or the next week and say, okay, well, I reached out to Steve Smith and I
00:20:27.140 haven't heard back. So what do I need to do? Well, you need to reach back out to him, maybe in a
00:20:30.480 different way. And then once Steve Smith gets back with me and he's like, yeah, let's do a podcast
00:20:35.000 together. We schedule it. It's all booked. I can just go ahead and put an X through it. And that's the
00:20:38.920 third category, which is completed. So you have not started in progress completed.
00:20:46.080 And I think that helps eliminate procrastination. I think that will help you know what you need to
00:20:50.980 get done. Having a system, a clear cut system for your tasks for prioritization, even like what's the
00:20:58.320 most important thing on your list. And then a system for actually making sure it gets done.
00:21:02.100 I'm not going to beat a dead horse on that. When I talk about that all the time, if you guys want to
00:21:05.600 look at our battle planner, you can go to store.orderofman.com and click on planners. And
00:21:10.760 you'll see, we've got our 12 week battle planner in the brown saddle leather or black as well. And
00:21:17.020 we also have inserts, which go inside that are, that are available. So you can get the full planner
00:21:20.660 with a leather cover. Or if you already have the leather cover, then you can just get the insert
00:21:24.940 to replace the one that you may have finished last quarter. This is a quarterly planner. So making a
00:21:31.340 list, checking it twice in the spirit of Christmas and making sure that you're checking things off as
00:21:36.180 you go. All right. The last one guys that I want to talk about point number five, when it comes to
00:21:40.260 procrastination is building a carrot and a stick, building a carrot and a stick. And what I mean by
00:21:45.160 this is that some people are motivated by the carrot, meaning positive reinforcement and positive
00:21:50.580 goals. If I do X, then I will accomplish Y. That's a carrot. The stick is if I don't accomplish X,
00:22:00.760 then Y will happen. So the carrot is positive reinforcement and engagement. It's moving you
00:22:07.960 forward. The stick is the negativity, the ramifications, the consequence of not doing
00:22:12.780 what you should be doing. So if we're talking about fitness, if I lose 20 pounds, I will look
00:22:18.860 better. I will feel better about myself and I will live a longer life or have more energy with my kids
00:22:25.220 or fill in the blank with whatever it might be. That's the carrot. So that's propelling you forward.
00:22:29.740 The stick of that version would be if I don't get in shape and lose 20 pounds and quit drinking or
00:22:36.560 quit smoking or quit whatever it might be, then I will be unhealthy. My kids will have a inferior
00:22:43.040 example of what it means to be a man and how a man shows up for himself and others. And I will
00:22:48.080 continue to feel poorly about myself and my performance. That's a stick. Now, some of you might
00:22:55.360 be saying, Oh, that's harsh. Well, then you're a carrot person. And some of you might be saying,
00:22:59.580 well, you know, like the, I don't let all that positive stuff. Like, I don't know. That just
00:23:06.500 seems woo woo. Then maybe you're a stick person. Is one better than the other? No. Is one right or
00:23:11.960 wrong? No. It's whatever works for you. If you need positive reinforcement and encouragement,
00:23:18.200 then do that for yourself. Find people in your life who are going to positively support you that way.
00:23:22.680 If you need the stick, find an accountability partner. Think about the negative ramifications
00:23:27.460 and consequences of your inaction or your poor performance. Whatever serves you is the right
00:23:34.780 thing. And maybe it's a combination of both. Kip talks about this on the podcast or ask me anything.
00:23:40.460 I tend to be more of a carrot guy. I want to feel good about myself. I look forward to achieving big
00:23:47.020 things in my relationship or with my children or in business with you guys, this movement and my
00:23:53.760 fitness. I I'm forward thinking about that. I like to see the possibilities and know that if
00:23:59.680 I do the work that I'm going to achieve my ultimate objectives and desires, and that compels me forward.
00:24:06.540 Kip tends to be more of a stick guy. And so you'll hear him on the podcast. He'll talk about it. He'll
00:24:10.680 say, Hey, if I don't do this, my kids are not going to get the example they need. If I continue down
00:24:16.860 this path, then I will continue to feel poorly about myself and my performance. And I don't want
00:24:21.020 to feel like that. That's that's how it's more how he is motivated versus how I'm motivated. And he's
00:24:27.400 not right. He's not wrong. I'm not right. I'm not wrong. We just know ourselves well enough to know
00:24:32.240 what is going to compel us to move forward. And what is it for you? Are you a carrot guy or are you
00:24:37.560 a stick guy? Spend some time analyzing that, thinking about that. What do you naturally
00:24:41.760 gravitate towards? What propels you forward? What actually fosters movement and growth and
00:24:47.660 forward thinking in your life? And if you can find some commonalities in that, you might realize
00:24:52.360 that you're a stick or a carrot or a carrot versus a stick. Either is good as long as you know what it
00:24:57.680 is. And then you can implement what you need to in order to achieve your goals and desires.
00:25:02.260 Guys, that's how I found whether that's some of the strategies I found to eliminate
00:25:06.400 procrastination. The other thing I would say is now turn this podcast off and turn all the other
00:25:11.480 podcasts off and put down the book and stop watching YouTube videos, instructional YouTube
00:25:16.300 videos. Put all that down and go to work. Andy Frisilla calls them, I believe, learning zombies.
00:25:22.420 Many of you are. You think that listening to this podcast is doing the work. It's not. You think that
00:25:27.560 going to that conference is doing the work. It's not. You think reading the book is doing the work.
00:25:31.480 It's not. I'm not saying those things are unimportant. I've made a career and a movement
00:25:36.520 and a fulfilling life on providing information that I think will serve all of us as men. So it's
00:25:42.060 important, but it's not the work. We need to actively go out there and do the things I'm
00:25:47.200 telling you about in order to achieve the results. And planning to do the thing, learning about the
00:25:51.300 thing, studying about the thing, talking about the thing is not the thing. The thing is the thing.
00:25:56.420 You go out and do it. All right. So let's review and then go to work. Number one, link the effort
00:26:01.340 to the result. Number two, look for the lowest common denominator, right? And build momentum
00:26:07.360 towards your goal and objective. Number three, Parkinson's law, collapse your timeframe because
00:26:12.500 work is going to expand to the time allotted, shorten the timeframe. Number four, make a list
00:26:18.380 and check it off. And number five, build either the carrot or the stick, whatever propels you forward.
00:26:24.300 All right, guys. I hope that serves you. Again, as a reminder, the iron council is open and we have
00:26:29.760 both the carrot and the stick. We have accountability. We have structure. We have the battle planning
00:26:34.780 system and tools, which is the lowest common denominator. We're going to help you with all
00:26:38.900 five of these things inside of the iron council. And you can check that out at order of man.com
00:26:43.340 slash iron council. We are officially open as of the release of this podcast today, December 15th,
00:26:49.500 2023. I hope to see hundreds of new members in there all working to get after it in 2024.
00:26:56.720 All right, guys, that's what I've got for you today. We will be back next week for our interview.
00:27:01.320 Until then go out there, take action, eradicate, eliminate, reduce procrastination and become the

00:27:12.500 charge of your life and be more of the man you were meant to be. We invite you to join the order
