00:00:00.000 So not only do women push these crazy alternative medicine things on themselves, right, and put themselves in danger, they also put this on their children. 1.00
00:00:12.880 Modern women are prideful, selfish, so much so that nobody can tell a woman anything, not their husbands, not their family members, not doctors. 1.00
00:00:29.880 And this pride has led many women to honestly believe that they know better than the experts, especially when it comes to medicine and the healthcare field.
00:00:42.880 Too many women are forgoing the advice of conventional medical practitioners to practice some kind of alternative medicine to the detriment of themselves and their children. 0.99
00:00:53.880 Crazy diets, yoga, herbs, teas, acupuncture, and strange spiritual practices are ways that modern women avoid treatment. 1.00
00:01:06.880 If you go on social media, there are way too many influencers pushing this garbage to women, especially mothers. 0.94
00:01:16.880 Nothing gets me more mad than seeing a young woman pass away from something that could have been treated, but if they just would have went to a real doctor and got real treatment. 0.97
00:01:28.880 This is a problem that is only getting worse, unfortunately.
00:01:32.880 How many women and children are going to have to pass away until something is done about this? 1.00
00:01:38.880 So Amanda Lewis, a TV personality, says that cancer has spread after she decided to keep her tumor.
00:01:53.880 The former talk show host has reflected on her decision to go against her doctor's recommendations for a mastectomy after her 2020 breast cancer diagnosis.
00:02:04.880 I thought I had this.
00:02:06.880 Former MTV Ananda Lewis has shared that breast cancer has metastasized and she is now in stage four.
00:02:15.880 Lewis, 51, previously shared that she had been diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in a 2020 Instagram post, saying that she'd refused manograms for years due to fear of radiation exposure.
00:02:31.880 But during a round table discussion on cancer with CNN Stephanie Ellum and CNN's anchor Sarah Sidner, who was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer early this year, Lewis shared that she went against her doctor's recommendations for a double mastectomy following her diagnosis.
00:02:50.880 My first plan was to get the excessive toxins out of my body.
00:02:54.880 I felt like my body is intelligent and I know that to be true.
00:03:00.880 Our bodies are brilliantly made, Lewis explains.
00:03:03.880 I decided to keep my tumor and try to work it out of my body a different way, she shared.
00:03:09.880 Looking back on that, you know, I go, you know what, maybe I should have.
00:03:14.880 So this is her.
00:03:15.880 Elam explains in a voiceover that Lewis pursued homeopathic remedies as well as medication and radiation and better sleep and diet.
00:03:26.880 While she says Lewis improved for a while last year, the MTV alum discovered her cancer had spread.
00:03:32.880 My lymph system really flared up.
00:03:35.880 Lewis said it was the first time I ever had a conversation with death because I felt like this is how it is.
00:03:41.880 I was just like fudge, man.
00:03:45.880 I really thought I had this.
00:03:46.880 I was frustrated.
00:03:47.880 I was a little angry at myself and I said, man, listen, I know you're coming for me at some point and I don't want it to be now.
00:03:53.880 And if you could just wait, I promise when you do come, I'm going to make it fun for you.
00:03:56.880 I literally had that conversation laying in my bed.
00:04:00.880 I couldn't get out of bed for like eight weeks.
00:04:02.880 Sidner shared that her diagnosis made her seek more joy in life while Lewis reflected on her decision not to pursue the double mastectomy.
00:04:10.880 Saying my quality of life is very important to me.
00:04:14.880 I want to want to be here.
00:04:16.880 So I had to do it in a certain way for me.
00:04:18.880 Meanwhile, my 51 year old CNN anchor who underwent a double mastectomy in May said that her cancer diagnosis made her realize I want to be here.
00:04:27.880 I want to thrive in a way I've never thrived before.
00:04:29.880 As Elam shared an Instagram post about their conversion, I'm forever grateful for their willingness to have this conversation to fully open up for the world.
00:04:40.880 If we could just get one woman to get their mammogram because of this conversation, that's a success.
00:04:45.880 I want everyone to live long, healthy lives.
00:04:49.880 So there it is.
00:04:51.880 She likely could have survived this diagnosis, but instead she chose to do this wacky voodoo stuff and now she died. 1.00
00:05:05.880 Here we got another article talking about her death.
00:05:09.880 Amanda Lewis, former MTV and BET host who publicly shared her breast cancer journey dies.
00:05:16.880 Amanda Lewis, the former MTV and BET host who became a beloved television personality in the 1990s with her warmth and authenticity has died.
00:05:26.880 She was 51.
00:05:27.880 Her sister confirmed Lewis's death in a Facebook post Wednesday.
00:05:31.880 Lewis had been battling breast cancer.
00:05:33.880 She's free and in his heavenly arms.
00:05:36.880 Emery wrote Lord rest her soul made a name for herself on hosts on BET, a team summit, which tackled issues facing youth and featured community leaders, entertainers and politicians.
00:05:49.880 She landed big interviews with Kobe Bryant, Tupac Shakur and Louie Farrakhan and the first lady Hillary Clinton, which earned her an NAACP image award.
00:06:02.880 After a few seasons, Lewis took her talents over to MTV in 1977. 0.78
00:06:08.880 She was a host and VJ on MTV live hot zone and total requests live a daily top 10 video countdown show.
00:06:17.880 Lewis told the Associated Press that she felt some backlash after moving from BET to MTV.
00:06:24.880 I wouldn't say in a strong way because I think most people who are my fan base at teen summit understand that growth is necessary.
00:06:31.880 She said one of the main things we dealt with on a consistent basis was the underlying themes of the show that you've got to get out there and live your life.
00:06:39.880 Okay, so I mean this kind of just reiterates the same story.
00:06:44.880 Lewis said doctors recommended double mastectomy, but she opted for alternative methods.
00:06:49.880 She eventually realized this was the wrong measure, but became an advocate for the up to date manogram checkups.
00:06:59.880 Okay, we got another a woman who wants to stop chemo for her child and tonight action and give the child alternative treatment. 1.00
00:07:09.880 So not only do women push these crazy alternative medicine medicine things on them themselves right and put themselves in danger. 1.00
00:07:19.880 They also throw out put this on their children.
00:07:23.880 Jax is investigating your rights following a call from a local mother with a dying daughter.
00:07:28.880 I'm Taneika Hughes.
00:07:29.880 I'm John Bachman.
00:07:30.880 She says DCF is threatening to take her daughter away from her because she wants to discontinue chemo and use natural remedies for her child.
00:07:38.880 Action News Jax, Ben Becker is live at DCF.
00:07:41.880 Ben, you're pressing DCF for answers and looking into the rights that parents have.
00:07:48.880 John, that's right.
00:07:49.880 You know, parents often believe they know what's best for their families.
00:07:52.880 And that's been a big crux today in this discussion I've been having with this family and also with DCF.
00:07:57.880 But often DCF has different ideas.
00:08:00.880 Breakfast brings the Cleveland family together, but they worry cancer and DCF will tear them apart.
00:08:07.880 When you look at these pictures, it goes through your mind.
00:08:10.880 Sadness, like I want to be able to help her.
00:08:12.880 Jessica and Mike Cleveland's four-year-old daughter, Michaela, has stage four cancer.
00:08:17.880 She was diagnosed with Wilms tumor in June of 2018, most common type of kidney cancer in children.
00:08:22.880 The tumor was removed after a long hospital stay, but the cancer came back in March of 2019.
00:08:28.880 What was it like when you first found out that she had this?
00:08:31.880 I was shocked.
00:08:32.880 I was devastated.
00:08:33.880 I didn't know what to think or how to feel.
00:08:35.880 Michaela has been through multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, but her mother wants to seek a natural remedy.
00:08:41.880 It's because her prognosis isn't as good this time.
00:08:43.880 When she told doctors no more chemo, she received a visit from a DCF caseworker.
00:08:48.880 She said that she is being advised to tell me that if I don't take my child to chemo, that they're going to take all my children away from me.
00:08:56.880 Not getting the chemo could fall under DCF's definition of neglect.
00:09:00.880 According to DCF, neglect includes when a child is deprived of, among other things, medical treatment.
00:09:05.880 You're the parent of the child.
00:09:07.880 But in today's world, you don't own the child.
00:09:10.880 Carl Carson is Action News Jack's law and safety expert.
00:09:12.880 He says DCF has brought authority.
00:09:14.880 In some cases, it doesn't even need a court order, which puts parents in a difficult spot.
00:09:18.880 It's a hard choice for a parent to make, and I'm not so sure everyone agrees that the Department of Children and Family Services knows best.
00:09:28.880 I went to DCF and later they sent me a statement that reads, there are multiple factors involved when it comes to making decisions or whether or not to put children into protective custody.
00:09:37.880 As for Cleveland, what's your message to DCF?
00:09:40.880 They need to mind their business unless somebody is actually being harmed, because she's not being harmed in any way.
00:09:47.880 All right, John, so I spoke with a local...
00:09:50.880 No, look, I think that's a tricky...
00:09:54.880 When does the government pick if they intervene with a child? I don't know.
00:09:59.880 My point is more these crazy women push these alternative treatments onto their children, and what tends to happen is the kids are the ones who suffer. 1.00
00:10:12.880 All right, here's another. 0.93
00:10:17.880 Natural health doctor, basically...
00:10:19.880 Okay, here we go.
00:10:24.880 Basically, a holistic doctor that offers me an alternative way of supporting whatever medical issues I'm having within my organism so that I can avoid getting sick and going to the doctor.
00:10:36.880 And basically what she does is she does a whole body scan.
00:10:39.880 It's actually really cool.
00:10:40.880 It's kind of wild.
00:10:42.880 So are you guys going to want to pay for these full body scans?
00:10:45.880 Yep.
00:10:46.880 This is how it's done.
00:10:47.880 It is so extremely cool.
00:10:49.880 She can just tell everything that is wrong with you at any point of your body.
00:10:54.880 If you're having an ailment, any issue, she can offer you an alternative way to heal it through supplements and other methods.
00:11:03.880 So I've been doing that.
00:11:06.880 And guys, every single time I leave her office, I have like a whole bag that weighs like five pounds full of stuff.
00:11:20.880 Let me know if you guys want to know everything that I have to take.
00:11:25.880 I will gladly share, but it's just wild.
00:11:28.880 And she gives you a whole schedule when to take it.
00:11:32.880 And honestly, a lot of my issues have gotten so much better, but then, you know, other ones will pop up.
00:11:40.880 So I'm constantly having to adjust my supplement intake and what I'm taking.
00:11:47.880 But honestly, just ordering whatever you want off of Amazon because you read that it's good for your health or for a certain condition doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to help you.
00:11:59.880 You need like a certain dose of it for whatever is wrong with you or you need a certain brand or a certain kind because they're not all made the same.
00:12:09.880 So before you say, you know, supplements or vitamins don't work, maybe you're just taking them incorrectly.
00:12:16.880 You know, it's another one.
00:12:18.880 I don't really buy this organic BS.
00:12:20.880 They just convince us that everything's wrong.
00:12:23.880 Like you need organic food.
00:12:24.880 Do I?
00:12:25.880 Oh, the pesticides are going to kill you. 0.91
00:12:28.880 Are they truly?
00:12:33.880 Okay.
00:12:34.880 Woman says that there are natural substitutes for antidepressants. 1.00
00:12:38.880 This one I kind of agree with.
00:12:41.880 I got to agree.
00:12:44.880 I don't know about the anti.
00:12:46.880 Okay.
00:12:47.880 Hold on.
00:12:52.880 Antidepressants.
00:12:53.880 I was personally.
00:12:55.880 I was personally on Prozac for a year and I need to disclaim that if you are on antidepressants and that's working for you, that's amazing.
00:13:07.880 I'm not talking to you.
00:13:08.880 I'm talking to the people that are on antidepressants and they feel like a zombie and you feel like your soul has left your body because that was me.
00:13:16.880 Okay.
00:13:17.880 Omega threes are amazing and have proven to be equally as effective as antidepressant.
00:13:22.880 When I'm saying Omega threes, I'm talking salmon.
00:13:25.880 I'm talking cod liver oil.
00:13:26.880 I'm talking fish oil pills.
00:13:27.880 Saffron has proven to be equally as effective as antidepressants.
00:13:31.880 Exercise has proven to be equally as effective as antidepressants.
00:13:36.880 Going on an anti-inflammatory diet and healing your gut microbiome has proven to be equally as effective as antidepressants.
00:13:42.880 Please take everything I say with a grain of salt.
00:13:44.880 Talk to a naturopath, a holistic healer, someone who can work with you on an individual level.
00:13:48.880 These holistic healers have to be making so much money.
00:13:53.880 I bet they are just raking in the dough, just convincing women that there's, there's just something wrong with them. 1.00
