00:00:00.000 do you think it is possible for Alberta to become independent?
00:00:04.720 Absolutely possible.
00:00:06.440 The only thing that we need is the will of Albertans.
00:00:09.400 So Albertans need to vote when we have our referendum question,
00:00:12.520 because we have,
00:00:13.380 it's actually rare for a country to have a clearly outlined process,
00:00:18.200 a legal process for a province or state to separate from that country.
00:00:22.360 Like there's not many countries in the world that actually have that,
00:00:24.520 but Canada has that through like the clarity act and Alberta has their
00:00:27.980 citizens initiative for bringing a referendum to the table.
00:00:30.740 So we have a clearly outlined legal path to do it.
00:00:37.640 Ottawa doesn't speak for guys like me. Alberta does.
00:00:42.140 I used to fly a Canadian flag, but now I fly the Alberta flag.
00:00:47.000 It actually stands for something.
00:00:50.220 I'm proud to fly the flag of a place that still promises a future for my kids.
00:00:56.060 That's right.
00:00:56.540 We got to dance to our own tune and we got to fight for our independence because
00:01:02.200 you and I know Alberta would be much better off being its own country,
00:01:07.940 not just financially, which is always great.
00:01:11.300 You know, dollars and cents.
00:01:13.360 That's a fact.
00:01:14.700 That's a realistic fact here that Alberta would be much better off financially,
00:01:18.640 but Alberta would be much better off culturally speaking.
00:01:22.880 We just, we have very little in common with Eastern Canada.
00:01:27.100 They have entitlements.
00:01:28.360 We have hard work.
00:01:29.800 They have government paychecks.
00:01:32.240 We have entrepreneurship and private sector over here.
00:01:35.300 We are inherently different.
00:01:37.360 We have Western values.
00:01:38.980 They have Laurentian values.
00:01:40.720 If you support these videos, please like and subscribe.
00:01:44.900 I appreciate it.
00:01:45.840 And so here's where we are.
00:01:49.060 And the question is, you know, for all of us, if we don't stand for something,
00:01:52.880 we're going to fall for everything.
00:01:54.580 And so what are Alberta's values?
00:01:57.060 And, you know, what culture do we want to maintain?
00:02:00.140 And, you know, as Tanya well knows, we've, you know, we're very much big on faith, family
00:02:07.520 and freedom as defining concepts of what Albertans are, the majority of Albertans are all about.
00:02:16.520 And so we're trying to preserve and enhance our freedom and our prosperity and ensure that
00:02:22.460 faith is not sidelined by federal dictates.
00:02:25.740 The Alberta Prosperity Project is the not-for-profit organization leading the effort to see Alberta
00:02:31.700 become independent from Canada.
00:02:34.180 They've recently deposited the application to begin collecting signatures to have a referendum
00:02:39.400 vote in 2026.
00:02:41.840 This is a grassroots-led movement with an army of motivated volunteers who hope to see their
00:02:47.920 province become its own independent nation.
00:02:50.560 They've been having town hall meetings and rallies all over Alberta this summer and will
00:02:55.520 continue their education campaign in hopes of increasing support for a yes vote in the upcoming
00:03:00.880 referendum.
00:03:02.480 Getting that 50% plus one is the ultimate goal, but just as important is what comes after.
00:03:09.020 And having international recognition will be very important for Alberta after declaring
00:03:13.960 its independence.
00:03:14.680 The APP had a delegation visit Washington, D.C. to speak with officials in the Trump administration
00:03:21.540 to see whether they would support Alberta's effort in self-determination.
00:03:26.480 The APP states that the response was positive and supportive, and they confirmed that the United
00:03:31.980 States government would recognize an independent Alberta after a successful vote.
00:03:36.620 Last week, the Chief Electoral Officer announced that he's referring APP's question to the Court
00:03:45.100 of King's Bench in Alberta for a ruling on whether or not that question is constitutional.
00:03:50.220 In any event, the Chief Justice assigned the case to Justice Feasby, who is one of the most
00:03:56.440 knowledgeable constitutional jurists on our Superior Court bench.
00:03:59.900 And that case is now going to be heard this Thursday.
00:04:03.320 Oh, good.
00:04:03.920 The Eva Chipiuk and Jeff Rapp have been doing amazing work.
00:04:07.720 Eva worked through the night a couple nights, and they got all their materials filed last
00:04:10.880 Thursday night.
00:04:12.000 So all the court briefs are in.
00:04:15.880 So this Thursday, there's going to be a court hearing in Calgary where Jeff Rapp and Eva
00:04:20.880 Chipiuk on behalf of the Alberta Prosperity Project, those lawyers will be arguing that there's
00:04:25.340 nothing to see here.
00:04:26.300 This is just a misstep by the Chief Electoral Officer, because how could a question, especially
00:04:33.100 framed like this, potentially violate the Constitution when the Supreme Court of Canada
00:04:38.240 has interpreted the Constitution as providing a mechanism for a province to hold a referendum
00:04:43.140 on a clear question about independence, right?
00:04:45.160 Like, it's just nonsensical.
00:04:47.180 In any event, the Minister of Justice for the Alberta government issued a tweet saying that
00:04:52.040 what the Chief Electoral Officer was doing was bureaucratic, was not in keeping with the
00:04:56.600 legislature's intention for the legislation, for the Citizens Initiative legislation, and
00:05:01.520 that the Chief Electoral Officer should withdraw his application to the court.
00:05:06.160 And then the Premier jumped in and said she agrees.
00:05:08.460 I expect what will happen is the court will say there's nothing unconstitutional about this
00:05:12.900 question.
00:05:13.280 I didn't think the court was going to move on it as quickly as they have, so I'm very encouraged
00:05:16.780 by that.
00:05:17.360 What if there's some goofy ruling or there's an appeal and it goes to the Court of Appeal and
00:05:21.480 off to the Supreme Court of Canada, it's open to the government of Alberta in the next legislative
00:05:27.660 session in the fall, coming up in September, to amend the legislation, to remove this goofy
00:05:33.700 section that the Chief Electoral Officers relied on, and to change the law because they hold
00:05:39.000 the keys to the lawmaking machine, the Danielle Smith government and the majority of MLAs that
00:05:46.500 form the government of Alberta.
00:05:47.980 They made this law.
00:05:49.200 They recently amended it.
00:05:50.260 They can amend it again.
00:05:51.100 So there'd be an opportunity for a legislative solution.
00:05:54.080 And if there's enough mischief, then it would also be open at any time for the
00:06:00.100 Daniel Smith UCP government to, through a cabinet order, say, guess what?
00:06:05.120 Next spring, we're holding a referendum.
00:06:07.160 And here's the question.
00:06:08.360 They always have that discretion.
00:06:10.280 Alberta might just be the last place in this country with a shot at a better tomorrow.
00:06:14.460 But only if we find the guts to cut ourselves loose from this corrupt, parasitic system called
00:06:20.740 Canada.
00:06:22.160 Let's call it what it is.
00:06:23.460 A country where criminals walk free.
00:06:25.880 But if you dare speak out, boom, you get handcuffed and tossed in jail.
00:06:30.880 Canadians have become comfortable marching to their own ruin, chanting, elbows up, like it's
00:06:38.440 some kind of virtue when really it's the final lullaby of a nation walking proudly into the slaughterhouse.
00:06:44.440 But Alberta, we've still got a chance.
00:06:48.840 It's shot at building something better.
00:06:51.420 A society based on freedom, responsibility, and the pursuit of happiness.
00:06:56.720 But it all depends on whether Albertans have the spine to stand up for it.
00:07:00.960 If not, we'll go down with the rest of the ship.
00:07:05.000 I wasn't sure when Carney was campaigning as to he was trying to portray himself as a pragmatist.
00:07:09.820 And I thought maybe he's changed.
00:07:11.900 Maybe he's not the Carney of the book of values, because it's pretty clear what that's about.
00:07:17.000 It's environmental socialism.
00:07:19.860 I'm increasingly suspicious that his antagonism of the United States, our closest and largest
00:07:28.980 trading partner.
00:07:29.840 I'm wondering if he's doing the Venezuelan trick, Carney is, of using antagonizing the
00:07:37.540 relationship with the United States and to some extent others, so that it can mask and
00:07:42.780 he can camouflage his economic failures.
00:07:45.700 Say, you know, oh, we would be doing great if it wasn't for Orange Man Bat.
00:07:50.580 You know what?
00:07:51.000 We saw that during the campaign.
00:07:53.400 The Liberals couldn't campaign on their own record.
00:07:55.520 Mark Carney couldn't campaign on his own record because the Liberals' record was his.
00:07:59.840 And so they relied on Privy Council research that they only had access to, by the way, to
00:08:06.980 craft a campaign of anti-Americanism.
00:08:09.400 The whole elbows up thing was based on Privy Council research that only the Liberals had
00:08:13.760 access to.
00:08:14.580 And I think we're just seeing a continuation of that because we're in a housing crisis, we're
00:08:22.460 in a health care crisis, we're in an inflation crisis, we're in a debt crisis, we're in a
00:08:26.820 crime crisis.
00:08:27.520 And the only thing the Liberals can point to is the Americans because, you know, I hope
00:08:34.660 the Liberals find who's been in charge for the last 10 years that created all these problems.
