00:00:00.000 They do understand it's not fringe anymore, and they do understand the consequences.
00:00:04.220 If this does end up with Alberta leaving Canada, that will likely leave Canada in a third world state because the Canadian dollar will tank.
00:00:14.700 Oh boy.
00:00:16.440 Guess they're starting to realize those Alberta rednecks ain't playing anymore.
00:00:20.800 I wonder what their first clue was.
00:00:27.840 Hey everybody, PJ here.
00:00:30.000 In today's video, we're going to be looking at a recent conversation from the YouTube channel Real Citizen with Jason Levine from the Alberta Prosperity Project.
00:00:40.000 The leader of the Alberta government, Danielle Smith, dropped the list of demands on the desk of the new Canadian Prime Minister.
00:00:48.080 She previously stated that this would be the requirements to bring about a positive reset in Alberta-Canada relations, in light of the growing support for Alberta independence within that province.
00:00:58.480 A rapidly increasing number of Albertans have given up on the idea of trying to fix Canada from within, and believe Alberta would be better off becoming an independent country, or possibly joining the United States in some capacity.
00:01:11.120 The Premier has mentioned that our main goal is to try to fix things from within.
00:01:15.760 In her own words, she expressed that this was the mandate she was elected for.
00:01:20.760 She's also stated, however, that she will not interfere if citizens of Alberta decide to vote for separation in an upcoming referendum.
00:01:28.400 Furthermore, her government put forward the law that makes the referendum more attainable, by lowering the signatures required to trigger one, from around 600,000 to just 177,000.
00:01:40.880 As I've mentioned in this channel before, the Alberta Prosperity Project has well over 230,000 people already who have registered on their website with the intent to sign yes on the petition.
00:01:53.160 They've also already filed an official application for a referendum vote with Elections Alberta.
00:01:58.800 In this application, the referendum question was submitted, and it's now being processed.
00:02:03.520 Talk about Danielle Smith for a second, because she's a major part of this, and she's outlined in the last, I believe, within the last three weeks, it was her kind of two weeks, maybe, her list of demands, you could call it, to Ottawa and Mark Carney about coming to the table.
00:02:18.180 She made four main points, and she said, we, as the UCP, are not going to be leading this, but we will respect if citizens, essentially, come together, enters enough signatures past the threshold, which she lowered, to trigger a referendum.
00:02:34.720 The way that I interpreted that was she's okay with the process happening.
00:02:41.440 She just is not going to be the one that's going to be spearheading as a kind of a revolt, in a sense.
00:02:46.520 Thoughts on that?
00:02:47.120 Yeah, she can't become the leader of that parade.
00:02:51.120 She can't be the one that says we need to separate, because pragmatically, and this is something I think she's doing very well, is she has to make sure that we do everything we can to make this work.
00:03:02.000 Yes.
00:03:02.460 Think about it like a bad marriage, that you really don't want to end, because you fell in love at the beginning, and you had a lot of history, and children, and assets, and other things that have to be considered.
00:03:13.840 You should try everything you can to keep that marriage together.
00:03:17.340 Yeah.
00:03:17.420 And that's her current position right now.
00:03:19.700 And that's why she gave those four items to Carney, and a six-month window, to go ahead and address that.
00:03:25.880 If you want to look at it like the analogy of a marriage, stop going to the bar, stop spending all the money, come home, take care of the kids.
00:03:31.840 Like, here's the list of things that will make it work better.
00:03:34.340 And if he can do that, then great.
00:03:36.500 But I'm not hopeful that he's going to do that.
00:03:39.040 If you read his book, Values, he's pretty clear that he believes that oil and capitalism are some targets that he thinks need to be eliminated for climate purposes.
00:03:48.380 And I don't see him changing his tune on that, unless lots of provinces step up to the plate and say, we need to change this deal.
00:03:55.740 Then maybe he would have to, because I don't think he wants to be the prime minister of the collapse of Canada.
00:03:59.620 But he may be pushed into a constitutional convention, with Alberta leading that.
00:04:05.380 I'm highly skeptical that Carney, the liberal prime minister, is going to comply with any of her demands.
00:04:12.380 I think he's unlikely to even try to find a compromise where Alberta can benefit.
00:04:17.140 Unless, Albertans continue to show that they're very serious about going it alone, and carry on taking the necessary steps towards it.
00:04:26.100 But they must mean it.
00:04:27.260 But this isn't something we can half-ass.
00:04:30.280 We need to be willing to go all the way.
00:04:33.140 Otherwise, very little, if anything, will come of it.
00:04:36.620 At the end of the day, it's all contingent on the people of Alberta.
00:04:40.700 If we do our part in bringing awareness to this, educating those sitting on the fence on the benefits of an independent Alberta,
00:04:47.500 as well as the unfair reality of Alberta's place in Canada for at least the last four decades, it can be done.
00:04:55.240 And that's why I believe this must be citizen-led.
00:04:58.080 The will of the people expressed through direct democracy on a referendum vote will be the ultimate statement.
00:05:04.120 That's why those in power don't even want the vote to happen, and they're doing everything they can to stop it.
00:05:11.000 But back to Danielle Smith, I think her best path forward is what she's doing right now.
00:05:15.520 She's listening to the UCP membership, which is 66% for separation at this stage.
00:05:20.720 But Alberta isn't at that number yet.
00:05:23.060 It's about 30% to 35% and growing.
00:05:25.900 66% of UCP membership?
00:05:28.400 Is ready to go.
00:05:29.320 Really?
00:05:29.640 Really.
00:05:29.860 Where does that come from?
00:05:31.920 That came from a UCP poll internally.
00:05:34.520 Wow.
00:05:35.100 And when we were in Bonneville, we had Mitch Sylvester, who's the CEO of the APP, and Danielle Smith on stage,
00:05:41.400 talking to the UCP members.
00:05:43.620 And Mitch posed a question to the group, do you want to leave?
00:05:46.900 And it was clear.
00:05:47.880 It was a loud yes.
00:05:49.200 Wow.
00:05:49.540 And Danielle said, well, how about giving them another chance?
00:05:52.260 Let's be hopeful and see if we can fix this.
00:05:54.760 Who's with me on that one?
00:05:57.020 She didn't have the support of that room.
00:06:00.180 So it's pretty clear that a lot of people have no faith in Kearney at this stage.
00:06:05.220 Maybe if it was Pierre, we may be in a different situation at this stage.
00:06:08.880 But definitely, they don't have faith in Kearney.
00:06:10.940 And that's pretty clear with the UCP membership.
00:06:13.100 I actually heard Mitch Sylvester from the Alberta Prosperity Project tell this story before.
00:06:18.300 So you have a full room with an estimated 800 people, which is a lot for small-town Alberta.
00:06:23.400 And a question was asked of the crowd whether they wanted Alberta to separate right away.
00:06:28.760 And everyone raised their hand and said yes.
00:06:31.240 Then you have the Premier of Alberta asking whether we should try to give the new Liberal government a chance
00:06:35.860 before separating.
00:06:37.440 And no one raised their hand.
00:06:39.700 Goes to show just how fed up most Albertans are when it comes to Canada.
00:06:44.060 Majority of those who support independence have simply had it and are ready to vote to separate today.
00:06:51.700 So it's moving full steam ahead, walking down the path of referendum.
00:06:56.880 Danielle Smith said 2026, if enough signatures.
00:06:59.740 Could it happen earlier?
00:07:00.980 She's talking about a different referendum.
00:07:02.820 So she's not going to come forward with a referendum on secession from Canada.
00:07:07.780 She's clear about that.
00:07:08.700 That needs to be a citizen's initiative.
00:07:10.200 And right now the APP, if Bill 54 passes, which is the bill that changes the level,
00:07:16.640 we already have the numbers.
00:07:18.020 So Bill 54 passes, you automatically present signatures with the names and addresses
00:07:24.420 or whatever you need for the people that want this.
00:07:26.360 What happens next?
00:07:27.480 Well, the first step is to let Elections Alberta know that this petition is going forward.
00:07:32.180 Then we have to collect the required signatures within a period of time.
00:07:36.640 So it used to be 90 days.
00:07:37.900 So if Bill 54 passes, it'll be 120 days to collect those signatures.
00:07:41.840 Then they get verified by Elections Alberta to make sure that they're real people.
00:07:46.220 They're on the elections roll.
00:07:47.400 Albertans.
00:07:48.100 Yes, exactly.
00:07:49.300 Yeah.
00:07:49.680 I believe...
00:07:50.440 Not dead.
00:07:51.460 Right.
00:07:51.860 And I believe...
00:07:52.820 It's funny that we have to say that, but we do.
00:07:55.120 You're not...
00:07:55.820 It's very true.
00:07:57.340 And I think there's some attempt to make sure that you were in Alberta for a certain period
00:08:01.280 of time as well.
00:08:02.180 So four or five years.
00:08:03.880 You voted in the last election.
00:08:05.620 Like there'll be a check on it.
00:08:07.960 And then from that stage, Elections Alberta, under the direction of Danielle Smith, guided
00:08:13.080 by the people, would have to create the referendum.
00:08:16.460 The fastest we can get it done, assuming Bill 54 passes second or third reading, could
00:08:21.920 be November 2025.
00:08:23.160 So there's a possibility we could be looking at an official referendum on Alberta's independence
00:08:28.720 by November of this year.
00:08:31.140 Now, as of the time of this video, Bill 54 received royal assent, which means the law was
00:08:37.300 passed.
00:08:38.420 There's a lot happening in Alberta right now.
00:08:41.240 There's a lot of work being done publicly and in the background to advance the cost for
00:08:45.580 independence.
00:08:46.060 It is very possible many of us will be voting this year or sometime next year.
00:08:51.960 And this is all happening with the backdrop of the 51st G7 summit happening right here
00:08:57.660 in Alberta in about two weeks, where the leaders of the world, including Donald Trump, will
00:09:03.420 become in a wild rose country at a crucial time in Alberta's history.
00:09:07.740 Interesting times indeed.
00:09:09.020 Okay.
00:09:10.320 Yeah.
00:09:10.600 And she did recently, in about last week or so, with Mickey Amory, amend Bill 54 to
00:09:17.620 ensure that First Nations concerns are addressed when it comes to their treaties, to ensure
00:09:22.420 that any question that's posed to the public doesn't violate any of the treaties and their
00:09:26.860 concerns at this stage.
00:09:28.000 And I'm happy to report we have very close connections to the First Nations.
00:09:32.520 Jeffrey Rath has been making a career on defending First Nations in Alberta and their treaties.
00:09:37.620 That's what he's been doing.
00:09:38.520 We have some other lawyers who are very, very connected to this issue to ensure that their
00:09:44.000 rights and the requirements of anything moving forward are addressed.
00:09:49.340 So it's done properly.
00:09:50.600 There's a definite, or not attack, but a smear campaign, it seems like, against this.
00:09:56.240 Like you're seeing some of the big agencies, the big news, CBC, it seems like they're focusing
00:10:02.480 on stories that they're trying to rise to the top to make it look like this is the fringe,
00:10:05.620 this is the, like there's a huge video that we actually posted of Jan Arden going off.
00:10:11.720 We had some people reach out to us, they thought we had gotten hacked because we had some crazy
00:10:16.120 ladies swearing.
00:10:16.800 No, I'll tell a story.
00:10:20.440 My sweet mom texted me, David, that's my mom's voice and she texts, I think you guys got hacked.
00:10:27.320 Someone posted on you, someone's cursing and yelling.
00:10:30.600 And we put that up there to actually spark the conversation.
00:10:33.800 And she was calling, like the amount of name calling she was doing on that was, was, you
00:10:39.280 know what, that could actually be the best advertisements to represent Western alienation
00:10:43.380 right there.
00:10:44.900 Thank you, Jan Arden, for the exact thing that is probably spurring all of this sentiment
00:10:50.540 over the last however many years.
00:10:52.860 David, you nailed it.
00:10:54.200 In a nutshell.
00:10:54.660 We should send her a check and a thank you letter because what she did was she showed
00:10:59.680 exactly the disrespect Alberta has been feeling for 40 plus years from people in the East.
00:11:05.200 Like if you listen closely to what she's saying, she's saying, you can't leave, it will never
00:11:08.740 happen.
00:11:09.320 Well, then why are you upset?
00:11:10.460 Yes.
00:11:10.860 Like if that's what you think the future will be.
00:11:13.300 Exactly.
00:11:13.920 And it will be a democratic process.
00:11:15.760 If you want to vote no, you'll be able to vote no.
00:11:18.340 But if we get a majority yes, what she's literally saying is, well, the people shouldn't have a
00:11:23.000 voice.
00:11:23.340 They shouldn't be able to speak.
00:11:25.160 While she's calling for national unity.
00:11:27.380 At the same time, that's what the message was, but in a really messed up way.
00:11:31.860 So I think what's going on here is they do understand it's not fringe anymore.
00:11:35.900 And they do understand the consequences.
00:11:38.200 If this does end up with Alberta leaving Canada, that will likely leave Canada in a third world
00:11:44.780 state because the Canadian dollar will tank.
00:11:48.440 A tremendous amount of the Canadian value is on Alberta oil.
00:11:51.880 So we are the economic engine.
00:11:54.760 I know that Toronto likes to believe that they are.
00:11:57.920 But when you look at the numbers, a tremendous amount of our value is in the Canadian pension
00:12:02.300 plan.
00:12:02.860 About 30 something or 300 something billion dollars is sitting right there that would leave
00:12:07.400 Canada.
00:12:08.340 Plus what we do, there's trillions of dollars of oil here in Alberta.
00:12:11.800 So what I think they're doing is they're realizing they're not joking.
00:12:16.120 It's not fringe.
00:12:17.320 And this is really getting serious.
00:12:18.720 All right.
00:12:19.480 Thanks for watching.
00:12:20.600 Thank you for subscribing.
00:12:22.040 Special thanks to those of you who have donated to this project.
