00:00:00.160 As well, we're currently in a very tense moment with our closest neighbor, the United States of America.
00:00:05.860 What position do they take about the potential creation of a new country on one of their northern borders?
00:00:11.700 I don't think they'll be indifferent to the question about whether or not Alberta is able to create its own country
00:00:17.340 or whether its future might be better off in the United States of America.
00:00:21.780 Sometimes in life, at some point or another, we'll have bad relationships.
00:00:35.360 Whether that relationship is an unproductive friend who's also a bad influence, an overbearing boss,
00:00:42.020 or a girlfriend who's disrespectful, ungrateful, we've all been there.
00:00:46.580 At some point, you outgrow a bad relationship, and it seems that's exactly where Alberta finds itself now.
00:00:54.020 Today, it seems like Albertans are finally done getting screwed by a system which is purposefully designed to do just that.
00:01:03.080 Screw Alberta.
00:01:04.900 It's been that way from the moment Alberta joined Confederation,
00:01:08.320 and there's simply no desire to change it by those who benefit from it the most.
00:01:13.520 Eastern Canada and the parasitic province of Quebec.
00:01:17.780 Are you willing to publicly denounce Alberta separatism and the Alberta separatist movement
00:01:23.040 ahead of a possible referendum on Alberta independence next year?
00:01:27.480 Look, I'm against separation. I'm born and raised Albertan. I love Canada.
00:01:32.140 I think we need to unite this country.
00:01:36.880 Albertans have a lot of legitimate grievances.
00:01:40.260 Let's be blunt. Canada's biggest industry, which happens to largely be situated in Alberta,
00:01:47.280 has been under attack for the last decade.
00:01:50.500 They've lost two major pipelines, a $20 billion mine.
00:01:55.240 There's a new ridiculous energy cap that's going to drive jobs and production south to the United States of America.
00:02:02.060 There's an industrial carbon tax that's going to kill the industry.
00:02:07.980 And so, frankly, Albertans have a right to be frustrated.
00:02:12.460 And I think the message to the government in Ottawa, the Liberal government,
00:02:18.000 is you can't tell Alberta to just pay up and shut up.
00:02:21.540 Albertans want to be part of a united Canada, but they deserve to be treated with respect,
00:02:26.620 and they deserve to be honoured for the immense contribution that they make to this country.
00:02:31.480 And they deserve to be honoured for the immense contribution that they make to this country.
00:02:32.460 Fact is, many Albertans no longer want to be a part of Canada, no matter what any politician says.
00:02:39.900 This guy here is Pierre Polyev.
00:02:42.020 He's the current leader of the Conservatives in Canada.
00:02:45.020 He recently lost an election he was supposed to win against the Liberals.
00:02:49.160 But Canadians, especially those in eastern Canada, Ontario, Quebec,
00:02:53.520 decided that after 10 years of economic decline, higher crime rates, and an increase in the cost of living,
00:03:00.520 it was a good idea to re-elect the same people who created those problems to begin with.
00:03:05.580 I'll tell you right now though, Pierre is no Trump, and I don't mean that as a compliment, quite the opposite.
00:03:12.840 If he was more like Trump, he might have actually won.
00:03:16.320 Trump worked twice as hard and was everywhere, in every podcast, and gave interviews to every single outlet.
00:03:25.080 Pierre tried playing it safe, and it costed him.
00:03:28.300 He even went as far as rejecting an interview with the number one podcaster in the world, Joe Rogan.
00:03:35.200 And then you have many Canadians wanting to blame Trump for Conservatives losing.
00:03:40.100 But I'm not one of them.
00:03:41.120 I blame the voters, the masochistic, self-destructive population, which is so easily manipulated by the media
00:03:48.760 that they willingly forgot how much worse Canada has gotten under the Liberals.
00:03:53.540 Most of these stupid people happen to live in eastern Canada, and Alberta's had enough of it.
00:03:58.780 It is looking a little bit more possible that separating from Canada could be in Alberta's future.
00:04:06.180 Monday, they had a news conference.
00:04:07.520 They proposed their referendum question.
00:04:09.000 They asked the Premier to hold the vote in 2025.
00:04:12.560 Here's Rath reading the proposed referendum question this week.
00:04:16.080 It states, quite simply, do you agree that the province of Alberta shall become a sovereign country
00:04:22.800 and cease to be a province of Canada, yes or no?
00:04:27.700 So how possible is an Alberta separation?
00:04:30.460 I know it's a big question, but what's your sense of this in this moment?
00:04:34.880 Well, constitutions can be made, and they can be broken.
00:04:37.980 So, of course, it is a possibility that there is an exit out of Canada,
00:04:44.200 and the roadway off that, out of this country, is through a sovereignty referendum.
00:04:50.840 We've got to get a positive vote, a clear majority on a clear question to separate.
00:04:55.720 It appears that we're headed towards such a referendum.
00:04:58.700 But if ever that were to happen, then the Supreme Court of Canada has said there's a constitutional duty
00:05:05.440 for the rest of the Canadian provinces and the federal government to negotiate an end to the constitutional crisis.
00:05:11.900 It might mean the separation of a province.
00:05:15.160 But how seriously should we be thinking about this, and what will you watch for to that end?
00:05:20.740 Well, I think there's no question it has to be taken seriously.
00:05:23.180 I think it's very likely that there is a sovereignty referendum in Alberta in 2026.
00:05:29.660 I think that's likely.
00:05:33.300 And when that occurs, rhetoric is going to heat up.
00:05:36.300 And, of course, nobody knows the kinds of political dynamics that will be set in motion.
00:05:41.840 As well, we're currently in a very tense moment with our closest neighbor, the United States of America.
00:05:47.320 What position do they take about the potential creation of a new country on one of their northern borders?
00:05:52.880 I don't think they'll be indifferent to the question about whether or not Alberta is able to create its own country
00:05:58.800 or whether its future might be better off in the United States of America.
00:06:03.800 Hey, everybody.
00:06:04.880 Very quickly.

00:06:14.160 If you've been to this channel before, welcome back.
00:06:17.420 Thanks for watching, and God bless you.
00:06:19.220 In 2021, I wrote No Other Option, Self-Determination for Alberta.
00:06:24.080 Yeah, which is, that's my case for Alberta independence.
00:06:26.960 So it's different from the other one in terms of presenting the case.
00:06:29.720 And then I thought that would be my final book on the independence issue.
00:06:32.800 What I found was that people who would read No Other Option would say, yeah, you know, it'd be good if Alberta became independent.
00:06:37.260 But before we do that, we need to try and fix Canada first.
00:06:40.620 And that really frustrated me because Albertans have been trying to fix Canada for several decades.
00:06:45.540 And it seemed to me many people had forgotten what we've done in the past to try and make things better in Canada.
00:06:50.780 So the time to leave is specifically arguing that we have tried very hard, you know, at least since the early 1980s, for Alberta to get its voice within Canada.
00:07:00.300 And that everything that we've tried has failed.
00:07:02.180 Not because the people weren't trying hard enough or doing a good job, but because the political power in Canada is concentrated in central Canada, which is Ontario and Quebec.
00:07:10.480 And they're not interested in what we have to say.
00:07:12.800 They're not interested in our grievances with the central government because they already have the power.
00:07:17.760 They can completely ignore us and it makes no impact.
00:07:20.240 And so that's what they have done.
00:07:21.300 It doesn't matter.
00:07:22.720 It doesn't matter because if you get Albertans to express the sentiment that they have had enough and that they do want to leave, whether or not that's to become independent or whether it's to join the United States as the 51st state, it doesn't matter.
00:07:36.740 Once you get across that threshold, then you'll find out what can happen after that.
00:07:40.840 Maybe it will be a renegotiation of the terms of this country.
00:07:44.080 I suspect that's not likely, but it's possible.
00:07:46.640 Maybe they'll have to go the whole way and become independent.
00:07:48.660 Maybe after they do that, they will think about joining the U.S. or not.
00:07:52.460 We are heading into the undiscovered country now.
00:07:54.980 We don't know.
00:07:55.680 But I've been trying to tell people, look, don't worry about looking too far ahead.
00:07:59.640 The problem is the next step.
00:08:01.160 And the next step is for Albertans to try to gather together enough of a critical mass of people and opinion that their future is no longer in the Canada that now exists.
00:08:12.820 All right.
00:08:13.540 Thanks for watching.
00:08:14.640 Thank you for subscribing.
