00:00:43.340Now, where have we heard that word before?
00:00:45.740Because I'm telling you right now, that one word is exactly what has me concerned.
00:00:51.380We're talking about government-issued digital ID.
00:00:54.860And immediately a few questions come to mind, of course.
00:00:57.320who controls it, who can access it, and what happens if one day you decide that you don't
00:01:03.020want to participate anymore or at all. Now, pay attention to this next part because
00:01:07.580the announcement is coming out of Ontario, Canada's most populated province.
00:01:12.820Dockford's government is moving ahead with plans for digital ID.
00:01:16.200Digital IDs. I mean, does this take it one step further than just taking a picture of my ID and
00:01:22.380keeping it on my phone? So, yeah, this is the Ontario government,
00:01:25.320The Minister of Public and Business Service, Delivery and Procurement, Stephen Crawford, announced that they are going to move ahead with a plan to launch what they call digital credentials.
00:01:33.980They're going to start with the photo card, which is what you have if you don't have a driver's license.
00:01:39.580And then the plan is eventually to include driver's licenses and health cards as well.
00:01:44.140We know that in Canada, Quebec, Alberta, BC also have similar plans in place.
00:01:50.160And so we're long past the point where people are like, well, it's on a smartphone.
