00:00:00.000 so have you guys heard that alberta is going to be voting to leave canada soon
00:00:16.480 everybody it's pj today we're going to be doing a little bit of a different video
00:00:27.180 because the alberta independence movement has hit a major milestone with bill 14 this means that the
00:00:35.320 petition for a referendum is finally moving forward if you guys remember some of the reports
00:00:40.780 that i made i made a couple reports regarding the courts stalling making the whole independence
00:00:46.960 process take longer than it needed to taking forever because of some judges and whatnot well
00:00:52.220 that's that's finally over bill 14 was passed and that makes it now irrelevant whether we go to
00:01:01.140 court or not we no longer need to so the petition can finally move forward but furthermore now the
00:01:08.900 petition has been approved by elections alberta and signature collection for a for the petition for
00:01:16.600 referendum can begin as soon as mid january of 2026 which which is huge it's great because again
00:01:26.060 we had this issue at the courts the petition was sitting at the courts for like three months and
00:01:31.360 then the judge ended up saying that it's unconstitutional which it's like how can it be
00:01:36.680 unconstitutional if they're the supreme court already ruled on this saying that provinces can
00:01:43.200 separate provinces can pursue their sovereignty which is called the clarity act but it doesn't matter
00:01:50.220 anymore it's a conversation that's irrelevant at this point fact of the matter is bill 14 passed and
00:01:56.740 now we're going to be collecting signatures as soon as january of 2026 which is right away right away
00:02:04.340 we're going to be collecting signatures so what i'm trying to do in this video is to basically talk
00:02:13.600 about those crucial conversations that we're going to have to have with the undecided folks those people
00:02:19.960 in the middle those who are sitting on the fence not the people who will never be convinced but those
00:02:25.620 in the middle those who may not know much about this those who may not be informed those who may not
00:02:32.920 have the information you and i have that's that's what this video is going to be about so let's get
00:02:39.540 into the meat of it when you're talking to people who are on the fence remember this the pro canada
00:02:45.900 side the federalist side those who support canada staying the way it is in its current malfunctioning
00:02:53.460 situation they don't often they rarely ever have logical arguments they lean on attacks they'll call
00:03:02.480 you you you know hillbilly these albertians they just keep whining whining hillbillies this and that
00:03:08.820 and so on among many other things that they use they don't they don't have logical arguments they have
00:03:15.880 bribery of course you have random politicians former politicians coming out of nowhere showing up and
00:03:23.440 you know and suddenly going to ottawa and painting the independence movement in a violent picture and saying
00:03:29.860 that the independence movement is something it is not you guys know who i'm talking about and that's
00:03:34.900 going to happen that's only going to get worse they're going to get more and more politicians to
00:03:39.740 be on their side particularly those on the left this is what they're going to do it's only going to get
00:03:46.300 worse and worse the attacks are going to be more pronounced and more and more frequent and then the other
00:03:52.980 thing they have is feelings they have nostalgia they're going to use feelings you know they're
00:04:00.160 going to tell you oh you know especially if you're a person who you know you're 70 years old 60 years
00:04:05.720 old you know you've lived in canada all your life canada's been home for you they'll tell you well
00:04:11.220 you're betraying the country they won't tell you the fact that canada as it stands is a country especially
00:04:17.480 if you're an albertan who that's really the only people that matter when it comes to this because these
00:04:22.500 are the people who are going to vote for the independence referendum those are the only people
00:04:27.200 entitled to vote legally in the independence referendum is albertans if you've been an albertan
00:04:34.760 long enough you know that your province has had it rough in confederation that canada has never
00:04:41.360 given alberta a fair shake you know what happened with the national energy program during trudeau senior
00:04:49.940 during pierre elio trudeau when peter lougheed was the premier of alberta you know what happened
00:04:57.020 during those days you know when pierre trudeau gave the middle finger to western canada literally the
00:05:05.600 middle finger to western canada you you know that and you remember that so they try to bring this
00:05:12.500 nostalgia all they're doing is trying to shut down your logical thinking and get you to become emotional
00:05:18.920 about the conversation around sovereignty as opposed to thinking about it logically
00:05:24.960 don't give up on canada remember the good old days but canada isn't the same country it used to be
00:05:32.340 it's abandoned alberta not the other way around and it's done it one too many times and it seems that
00:05:37.920 albertans have finally had enough let's talk about the facts those facts that i want you to remember
00:05:44.380 in the conversations that you're going to be having hopefully i'm going to spell this out first
00:05:49.920 there's the reality of equalization payments i bring that one up first because it's one of the
00:05:55.440 most obvious ones and it's numbers and numbers don't care about feelings so i bring that one up it's
00:06:00.860 numbers alberta is and this is a fact per capita the top contributor to equalization in canada
00:06:07.720 and it's not even close the top contributor per capita sure ontario has the biggest economy but
00:06:15.600 per capita per each albertan alberta produces far more than ontario it also gives more than it receives
00:06:23.560 ontario receives more especially nowadays than it gives out in in economic output
00:06:30.940 and alberta has been the number one producer per capita for decades the number one contributor
00:06:37.820 to equalization for decades we send we send billions of dollars out and get zero exactly zero in return
00:06:44.500 look at equalization payments this year again a big fat zero for alberta saskatchewan bc even but
00:06:53.620 it's worst in alberta because alberta is the largest contributor to it by far per capita
00:07:00.620 and then this money is used to be given to provinces that then turn around and criticize us
00:07:07.200 like quebec quebec blocks energy development in canada particularly from alberta with our
00:07:14.760 dirty oil like the frenchies like to call it but the 14 billion dollars that they get from that dirty
00:07:21.680 oil is very clean it seems because they love it and they take it all the time they love that cash
00:07:28.300 pipeline they just don't like the pipeline that produces said cash oil pipelines you know they
00:07:36.540 refuse to develop their own natural resources you you can look it up right now and that is a prime
00:07:43.020 example of how unfair the system is let's talk about the electoral imbalance another fact that those on the
00:07:51.420 other side of the conversation never like to acknowledge or recognize in eastern canada a vote carries more
00:07:59.660 weight than in western canada than in saskatchewan and alberta it's like a two for one deal basically one vote in the
00:08:07.340 east can have the power of two votes in the west and i'll explain and then we have the unelected senate of course to add
00:08:15.420 add insult to injury alberta with its five million people we just surpassed five million people and
00:08:22.060 its huge financial contributions which we just discussed gets only six senators they're unelected
00:08:29.500 and we only get six allocated unelected senators for the entirety of alberta with five million people
00:08:36.380 meanwhile take a province like new brunswick for example with a fraction of the population i think
00:08:41.500 they're around one million right and they get 10 senators make it make sense and again there's
00:08:49.180 the reality that senators are unelected appointed by the prime minister and trudeau flooded filled
00:08:57.260 the senate with liberal activists right and alberta only gets six with a five million population while
00:09:03.900 the province like new brunswick nova scotia with way less people and way less financial power than alberta
00:09:09.740 get 10 senators each make it make sense that is something you can bring to the table and that's
00:09:16.220 a fact i'll show you the map right on the screen that's a fact that's not opinion that's a fact of
00:09:22.380 canada today that alone is reason enough for alberta to want to make a huge change and alberta has tried
00:09:32.380 we're going to talk about that has tried for decades to make that change from inside canada to no avail
00:09:40.700 the system is rigged against us we're not treated like equal partners in confederation we'll treat we're
00:09:47.900 treated like the western colonies of canada canada is the east the maritimes ontario and quebec that's
00:09:54.220 canada western canada particularly alberta and saskatchewan are basic basically colonies of the rest
00:10:02.620 of canada let's not forget like i said the history back in the 1980s preston manning those of you who've
00:10:10.860 lived long enough will know preston manning and the reform party they tried to fix this whole situation
00:10:16.940 with a campaign that they called the west wants in basically looking for more representation within
00:10:24.300 canada more fairness within canada for the west they asked for a fair deal and the east said no
00:10:31.980 they opposed them at every turn instead of reform they doubled down put the hammer down and here we
00:10:38.220 are decades later still having the same exact conversation because nothing has fundamentally
00:10:43.100 changed it's the exact same let's talk about what an independent alberta would actually gain these are
00:10:49.740 the facts of what alberta would gain this is not an exhaustive list because the list is so long but
00:10:55.580 these are some of the main ones that i could think of that i think are very relevant to bring to the
00:11:00.380 conversation and bring to the dinner table because this is where it gets serious alberta sends more
00:11:07.900 wealth we've established that more financial output and more revenue into confederation than it gets back
00:11:14.620 we produce more than we consume surplus right we're a net contributor and by a lot by a lot independence
00:11:22.860 means that that money stays here it stays in alberta in alberton territory in alberton soil funding our
00:11:32.540 own infrastructure our own health care we can make it look however we want we want it the way it is
00:11:38.540 right now but actually less corrupt and more efficient then we can do it we want single-payer universal we
00:11:44.380 can keep it that way it'll be up to us and we can fund it more efficiently tax relief we can cut taxes
00:11:52.860 alberta is already the lowest taxed um uh the lowest tax jurisdiction in canada by choice because
00:11:59.580 albertans want lower taxes not because canada is benevolent right um and then future investments
00:12:05.980 would stay here we would manage our own pension which would create jobs because someone has to manage
00:12:12.060 that pension and there has to be an entire structure for it and we could have it look at quebec quebec
00:12:18.140 manages his own pension and that creates jobs in quebec so an independent alberta could create
00:12:23.500 jobs in alberta in that financial institution that would be the alberta pension plan getting young
00:12:29.180 albertans in the financial sector to get jobs to produce more money pay taxes into that exact same
00:12:36.300 pension plan for for alberta seniors right so that's another thing you can bring to the conversation
00:12:42.540 um talking about pensions right alberta has one of the youngest and most productive workforces
00:12:50.060 in all of canada that means albertans contribute more to the canada pension plan the cpp
00:12:57.740 than they consume alberta seniors draw less from cpp than alberta workers pay in that you're noticing
00:13:05.900 a pattern here you're noticing a trend right alberta produces more than it consumes
00:13:10.860 that's the reality of alberta and most provinces are not that way they take more than they give
00:13:17.580 this creates a surplus and that's why in recent reports it was all over the news it showed that alberta
00:13:24.140 would be owed a massive share of cpp assets if it left alberta would be owed high estimates have it about
00:13:33.900 half of of all of cpp moderate moderate and modest estimates have it about a quarter which is still
00:13:41.980 insane considering there's 10 provinces alberta alone being owed a quarter of the entire pension plan
00:13:51.500 crazy to think um and that's it makes sense though when you think about it because we've been subsidizing
00:13:57.580 the rest of the country for many decades when it comes to that as well then there's this idea that
00:14:02.780 alberta would be landlocked that's the thing that they're gonna throw at you besides the insults
00:14:08.220 besides the calling you names you know you're just a bunch of hillbillies just a bunch of white racist
00:14:15.980 men right white guy right here right sure um they're going to say that alberta's landlocked
00:14:24.940 right we are policy landlocked right now and i'll explain we've tried to build a pipeline to the west
00:14:31.580 coast for example and british colombia recently has said no just uh no we're not gonna coastal first
00:14:37.980 nations our government blah blah blah a million hurdles a million reasons to say no right we tried
00:14:46.140 to build energy east as well and then quebec said no to that one um as a province we have no real
00:14:53.420 leverage there's nothing we can do other than complain to the government and that goes nowhere
00:14:58.620 as an independent country that changes very rapidly alberta could say fine you can block our pipelines
00:15:07.180 to bc for example but your goods don't cross our territory without a tariff you want to get to
00:15:12.620 eastern canada from british colombia every single ship every single container passing on rail or any
00:15:20.220 truck every truck will have to pay a tariff and then we have more power then there's the whole u.n
00:15:27.660 access to ports which is international law for independent states nation states alberta would fall under
00:15:35.420 that when we gain our independence but then there's also the fact that we could negotiate directly
00:15:40.780 with the united states a sovereign nation of alberta would have international rights including united
00:15:47.500 nations access to tight water and the ability to negotiate directly with other countries most
00:15:52.700 importantly we could deal directly with our closest ally just south of the border of the united states
00:15:56.860 which is way more welcoming of alberta energy how do i know that where do most of our pipelines go
00:16:03.980 where do most canadian energy pipelines go do they go east and west the north or do they go south
00:16:10.700 towards the united states the u.s has always been more welcoming of canadian energy than the rest of
00:16:15.660 canada that's another fact so we could deal with them instead we could access ports in washington state
00:16:23.980 or oregon you know instead of being held hostage by ottawa as a sub national subordinate government you know
00:16:33.500 and finally an independent alberta would be free this one's huge free from ottawa's green agenda
00:16:40.140 the whole climate thing you know we'll be free from that we'd no longer be shackled by federal policies
00:16:46.700 that attack our energy industry we wouldn't have to deal with carbon taxes we could drill baby drill
00:16:53.820 um you know green agenda that kills jobs drives up costs uh you know that freedom means more
00:17:01.020 production right which means more money um lower taxes stronger growth and higher standards of living for
00:17:08.620 alberta we will be one of the wealthiest countries on earth because our resources
00:17:15.580 our resources are plenty unimaginable unimaginably bountiful there's so much resources you're not just
00:17:23.500 oil you know there's the our our farmlands our minerals under the ground but also our people albertans
00:17:32.220 some of the hardest working people on earth and some of the most qualified workers in the world
00:17:38.220 um would be one of the wealthiest countries on earth easy quick um so here's the bottom line
00:17:44.780 have these conversations stick to the facts stay calm uh don't get sucked into the insults or emotional
00:17:52.860 bait that's what they what they want to drag you to the mud don't we got the facts they got a tax we
00:17:58.700 got the facts they got a tax you're not trying to win an argument you're planting seeds you're trying
