00:00:00.000 they're trade negotiators they're arrogant backstabbing people i don't respond to a 0.99
00:00:05.280 dictator like president trump a bully like president trump a guy that's the king of 0.98
00:00:10.080 bankruptcies things got a little heated it got a little personal uh yesterday between 0.89
00:00:14.480 the president and myself but i i want to make a deal a good deal for the american people
00:00:19.040 wait a minute wait a minute here is that the same dog far from yesterday 0.99
00:00:29.700 the guy that was telling the president of the united states to kiss his behind and whatever 0.99
00:00:33.780 else calling trump a loser talking about inflictive massive pain on the americans 0.99
00:00:39.200 and now less than 24 hours later suddenly well i guess things got a little heated apparently
00:00:45.980 We're the two greatest countries in the world.
00:00:47.920 We're each other's number one customer.
00:00:50.180 And it's time to get back to the table and let's negotiate a fair deal
00:00:55.020 because it's hurting the U.S., it's hurting Canada.
00:00:59.740 And we just want to make sure that we have a fair deal.
00:01:04.500 Good point.
00:01:05.580 But as you know, President Trump this morning is also taking new shots against Canada
00:01:10.760 on his social media platform, Truth Socially Posted.
00:01:14.220 and I'm quoting him now, the United States is giving serious consideration to changing the
00:01:19.860 name of Lake Ontario to Lake America, in that we don't expect to be doing much business with
00:01:26.560 Ontario any longer. And moments ago, he even offered artwork showing the name change. How do
00:01:32.940 you respond to that? And President Trump saying that the U.S. won't be doing much more business
00:01:38.100 with the Ontario province that you represent. We need to give certainty. We need to
00:01:44.000 create more jobs millions of jobs on both sides of the border thank you and god bless america
00:01:49.700 god bless canada let's get a deal done we need to lower the temperature i want a deal a good deal
00:01:55.840 for the american people what happened dog is somebody from the auto industry finally pick up
00:02:01.700 the phone and say hey buddy for you declare economic war on our biggest customer maybe
00:02:06.300 remember who actually buys the stuff we make because this is the problem with the whole
00:02:11.760 elbows up circus up here north of the border it feels great until the bill shows up right
00:02:18.000 and the bill's starting to show up former general counsel to the u.s trade representative good to
00:02:22.960 see you steven thanks for being here so i'm just curious it seemed like on thursday wednesday and
00:02:27.840 thursday everything seemed to be humming along the president was even sending out a little tease
00:02:32.720 that maybe we'll have the canadians open the pipeline again or maybe we can get get it open
00:02:37.760 ourselves now that we have somebody friendly to to the energy business sitting in the White House.
00:02:43.440 And then it all fell apart on Friday. Do you know what happened?
00:02:47.920 Yeah, I think it's pretty common that when you're having these trade negotiations, you know,
00:02:51.680 you have an agreement at a high level and then you get to the part where people are sort of
00:02:55.840 actually writing up the terms. And I think that as they work together on the terms on Friday,
00:03:02.000 you know, it sounds like a lot of people on the Canadian side, particularly some people close to
00:03:06.240 to the prime minister just weren't comfortable with the terms as they were and that they had
00:03:11.640 agreed to. And so ultimately the prime minister very late on Friday night decided to recall his
00:03:17.520 ambassadors, bring everybody back to Ottawa and then put out a statement saying that, you know,
00:03:22.280 he was suspending the talks. So, you know, I think they just basically made a political choice that
00:03:26.820 they didn't want to do the deal that they had previously agreed to. You say a political choice,
00:03:30.980 you mean they were acting on pressure back at home where they like it when their prime minister
00:03:35.580 stands up to president trump it's definitely the case that if you look at the polls in canada if
00:03:41.100 you listen to some of the comments from some of the premiers of the various provinces there is
00:03:45.980 a strong group of people in canada who are pushing you know for more attention uh with the united
00:03:51.020 states and i think the the carny people may have been sensitive to that here's the part that i
00:03:55.580 think canadians should really be asking questions about what the hell actually happened with the
00:04:01.900 a deal. Because days ago, we were being told that there was progress, Trump was saying that we were
00:04:07.220 nearing a deal, and negotiations were working around the clock. And then suddenly, boom,
00:04:13.660 Mark Carney pulls the plugs, calls negotiators home, and Canada goes straight back to retaliation
00:04:20.240 and the elbows up insanity. We know that Canada allows itself to be used as a backdoor for
00:04:27.560 Chinese goods. They treat Chinese goods more fairly than they do the goods that come from
00:04:35.180 the people of Maine. It's insanity. And what we've said to Canada is stop it. Apply a basic
00:04:41.980 principle of fairness to the trade that you're doing between North Dakota and Canada, between
00:04:46.500 Maine and Canada. And what happened at the very end is they came in with a bunch of unreasonable
00:04:51.520 last minute demands. I frankly thought we had a deal. I think that we should have a deal,
00:04:56.260 But I think that we need to send a message loud and clear to the prime minister of Canada.
00:05:01.340 Stop taking advantage of the people of Maine. Stop taking advantage of America. It's over.
00:05:06.640 We expect fairness in our trade policy.
00:05:09.920 It goes back to 2016, like the day after the election of Donald John Trump.
00:05:15.760 Wilbur Ross, who would be the commerce secretary and myself, began negotiations on the U.S., what would become the USMCA.
00:05:22.980 And I can tell you, as much as I love Canada, as much as I love the Canadian people, as nice as the Canadian people are, 0.85
00:05:30.280 they're trade negotiators, they're arrogant, backstabbing people. 1.00
00:05:34.440 They're just, they're just besides, you know, the Chinese and the Canadians are the hardest ones to deal with. 0.97
00:05:40.100 They're the only two countries retaliating against this.
00:05:42.880 But let me explain the politics of this, because people are scratching their heads.
00:05:46.180 It starts with the fact that China, excuse me, Canada cheats us, they cheats us on dairy.
00:05:52.300 They won't let us sell our alcoholic beverages there.
00:05:55.600 Lumber's a mess.
00:05:57.280 And we gave them a really good deal.
00:06:01.960 That deal was so good that it kind of made me a little bit nervous
00:06:05.820 because it was a good deal.
00:06:07.840 It was a fair deal.
00:06:09.340 Jameson Greer negotiated it well,
00:06:11.460 but it was right up to the edge where you want to be
00:06:13.840 about being as fair to your trading partner as you possibly can.
00:06:17.060 And that Carney, he said, he went off on his Trump derangement thing.
00:06:22.400 And here's the rule here.
00:06:23.480 There's a rule here.
00:06:25.280 The higher Carney goes in his polling in politics, appealing to this Trump derangement syndrome, the lower their economy is going to fall.
00:06:35.700 That's the disconnect.
00:06:36.840 And I would say this, and I've been saying this directly to the Canadian people.
00:06:40.880 So please understand, when you reward Carney every time he trashes Donald Trump,
00:06:46.940 you're basically shooting yourself not in the foot but in the head in terms of your economy.
00:06:51.620 And you've got to stop that because it's just wrong.
00:06:55.700 And if you just look at what they do, and again, here's something.
00:06:59.700 I'm the only guy who can tell you this, okay, because I go back.
00:07:03.100 The problem stems from when we originally negotiated NAFTA.
00:07:06.920 I WON'T ANY OUTROUND, BUT THE PEOPLE WHO NEGOTIATED THAT DEAL, THE
00:07:11.980 CANADIANS, WERE PLAYING CHESS, WE WERE PLAYING CHECKERS, THEY
00:07:15.340 OUTSMARTED US, AND FROM THAT DAY ON, THEY'VE BEEN ARROGANT, AND
00:07:19.240 THEY'VE THOUGHT THEY COULD BEAT US EVERY TIME THEY SIT DOWN WITH US,
00:07:21.600 AND THEY'RE OVERPLAYING THEIR HAND, AND THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING FOR
00:07:26.200 THE HEMISPHERE, AND PUSH HAS GOT TO COME TO SHOW, BUT I'M TELLING
00:07:29.160 YOU, CANADA, YOU'RE NOT GETTING AS GOOD A DEAL AS YOU JUST GOT, 0.79
00:07:31.980 OKAY?
00:07:32.980 YOU BLEW IT, AND SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE HERE.
00:07:34.920 especially if Alberta leaves. 0.99
00:07:36.500 I mean, they are totally screwed. 0.99
00:07:37.680 They can join America, though. 0.99
00:07:38.580 Remember, YouTube doesn't like conservative channels like this one.
00:07:41.400 But if you do, remember to like and subscribe.
