Any law, any agreement passed at the federal level will not apply to the people of Alberta
00:00:11.200
unless passed in the Alberta legislature right here in Albertan soil by Albertans.
00:00:31.000
I'm out on the road today and I figured I'd give you guys a bit of an update on the Alberta
00:00:38.120
You see, recently, something that some people might have not noticed is that the Alberta
00:00:44.400
government passed Bill 1, symbolically called Bill 1, which is a law that gives Alberta
00:00:55.440
a lot more ability to protect its sovereignty from Canada, from the woke policies of Canada's
00:01:16.160
Well, Alberta is asserting its sovereignty and preparing for independence by saying to the
00:01:23.420
federal liberals that they do not have the right to pass, that they shouldn't be making
00:01:31.020
any sort of agreements, internationally speaking, with any countries.
00:01:36.180
Think about net zero stuff, think about carbon taxes, think about green economy stuff.
00:01:43.640
None of it will apply to Alberta unless passed at the legislature, at the Alberta legislature
00:01:51.600
As we return to the legislature, our government is focused on delivering the clear mandate
00:01:56.300
that Albertans gave us to stand up for this province, protect our freedoms, and chart
00:02:01.740
That's why we are taking the next step to defend Alberta's constitutional rights through
00:02:09.000
Ottawa can sign international agreements with other countries, that's their right, but this
00:02:13.380
legislation makes it clear that those agreements will only become enforceable in Alberta if
00:02:26.200
You may ask, well, why is this significant, PJ?
00:02:31.940
What's an independent nation, if not an entity, that is able to negotiate its own deals on its
00:02:41.140
In a federation, the federal government is the one who negotiates deals having to do with
00:02:49.960
Washington negotiates deals that affect Montana, Idaho, Florida, Texas, etc.
00:03:00.400
Any law, any agreement passed at the federal level will not apply to the people of Alberta
00:03:08.160
unless passed in the Alberta legislature right here in Albertan soil by Albertans.
00:03:15.580
The federal government has tried to insert themselves into Alberta's jurisdiction time
00:03:21.800
Now, we've seen this with the Clean Electricity Regulations, for example, or the Impact Assessment
00:03:28.540
And both of these federal initiatives have had a devastating impact on provincial investment,
00:03:35.660
on investor confidence, and on the growth of our province.
00:03:39.160
We're saying we're not going to take it anymore.
00:03:40.700
When it comes to international agreements that are signed by the federal government, right
00:03:45.200
now we currently have no formal agreement in place that governs the relationship between
00:03:50.940
the provinces and the federal government, especially when it impacts areas of provincial jurisdiction.
00:03:57.020
By introducing this legislation, we want to make it clear.
00:04:00.660
Alberta will not be bound by international agreements entered into by a federal government when that
00:04:06.940
agreement has a direct impact on matters of provincial jurisdiction.
00:04:11.560
It's one way that we're showing that Alberta will not allow the federal government to continually
00:04:23.780
And it's also, it's got a symbolic element to it.
00:04:31.340
It's got a symbolic element to it, which is you got Alberta taking steps, the province of Alberta
00:04:42.520
This advances the cost for Alberta independence.
00:04:46.500
It reminds the rest of Canada that Alberta is taking no shit anymore.
00:04:51.560
Alberta is not going to put up with the BS from central and eastern Canada.
00:04:55.700
We're going to be controlling our own country, our own borders, our own finances.
00:05:00.760
And this is all against the backdrop of an upcoming referendum in the year 2026, next year.
00:05:13.860
I hope she continues to take as much jurisdiction as she can.
00:05:20.060
The people of Alberta, Alberta patriots, will have her back.
00:05:26.680
Are you willing to say, we want these things or else?
00:05:32.020
At what stage would you, for example, invoke the Clarity Act, as clarified by the Supreme Court?
00:05:39.600
For example, calling a referendum on the Clarity Act question of secession.
00:05:52.020
And I'll start off with Danielle Smith on that one.
00:05:56.680
Uh, the or else is Dennis Modry and the Alberta Prosperity Project.
