00:02:07.820It's not something people would think, but why is that the case? It's because we take care of each
00:02:11.900other. It's because we focus on things like affordability, because the people who live here
00:02:16.700will get childcare. The people who live here will get healthcare. The people who live here will get
00:02:23.100get high quality education part of the way forward is to name plainly what's broken to say as plainly
00:02:28.780as possible how we intend to replace it and then do the hard work of building and people are feeling
00:02:33.900the pressures of everyday life the affordability crisis right now housing is unaffordable
00:02:40.400in part because we haven't been building affordable housing we're looking to double
00:02:46.340the pace of affordable housing construction using factory technologies familiar to many of you from
00:02:51.020Hello, guys, and welcome back to another episode of Maple Syrup and Mayhem with me.
00:02:56.840Today, we're going to talk about gaslighting and more specifically, the gaslighting industry that we are all unknowingly a part of nowadays.
00:03:04.800If you don't know what gaslighting is, it is a form of psychological manipulation and or emotional abuse in which a person or a group, a group of people make someone question their own reality, memory, perception, or sanity.
00:03:22.780It involves deliberate tactics that cause the victim to doubt their own thoughts, feelings, or experiences.
00:03:29.100The goal is to usually gain power and control over the victim or victims by undermining their
00:03:36.940competence and making them dependent on the gaslighters version of events. So what are some
00:03:44.240classic examples of gaslighting? Denying events that clearly happened, like someone may say to
00:03:52.660you, I never said that, you're imagining things. Trivializing feelings, you're too sensitive,
00:03:58.300It was just a joke. Countering with false information. That's not what happened or you
00:04:05.640always get things wrong. Projecting blame. Shifting responsibility so that the victim
00:04:11.260starts apologizing for things that they didn't do. And isolating the victim. Making them believe
00:04:18.320that their friends or family are lying to them. Now some big historical examples of the government
00:04:27.020gaslighting the public would obviously be the COVID-19 public health messaging.
00:04:32.040We're in the middle of an outbreak. Wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better
00:04:38.280and it might even block a droplet, but it's not providing the perfect protection that people
00:04:44.940think that it is. And often there are unintended consequences. People keep fiddling with the mask
00:08:15.180But, you know, critics will say that the emphasizing headline growth or resilience,
00:08:19.260while everyday costs outpace wages, it erodes the trust in society and in people's personal experiences.
00:08:26.440The per capita GDP has declined for years, even though we've had an explosive population growth.
00:08:33.720And of course, this leads to ugly growth descriptions.
00:08:37.220One of the other things that we keep hearing as well is obviously about the housing affordability and supply crisis.
00:08:43.840So they'll highlight the government, for example, will highlight plans like build Canada homes, infrastructure funds, incentives for construction.
00:08:51.740And of course, they're going to double the pace of building.
00:08:54.240But the reality is, and the public perception is, that 85 to 91% of Canadians report severe concern over rents, home prices, and of course, the lack of supply.
00:09:07.180Many people view federal policies, most importantly, or including especially, immigration levels, high immigration levels that they have now adjusted.
00:09:17.920Of course, the damage has been done at this point in time.
00:09:20.280they believe that is one of the biggest contributors with little tangible relief for any kind of young
00:09:26.240buyer or renters officials frame progress as substantial while the metrics show ongoing
00:09:32.680affordability canada often ranks among the worst in the g7 for housing costs relative to your
00:09:41.120income so for example the u.s you know obviously their dollar is worth more so their costs of
00:09:47.220things are going to be a little bit less. But when you compare their wages, their earning to the cost
00:09:53.380of housing, it's a lot more in line to where it should be than Canada. We have such a huge gap
00:09:59.380between earned wages and being able to afford a house. The one thing too that I keep hearing
00:10:05.700the elbows up crowd talk about is the economic resilience versus stagnation and debt. So their
00:10:12.980official line to all of us is that we avoided a recession in 2025 despite the big orange bad
00:10:19.280orange man's tariffs and uncertainty around jobs they say that they have added jobs which again
00:10:28.700most of those are government jobs right so really the taxpayer is funding for them they claim that
00:10:33.680the debt to gdp is stabilizing and they're focusing on diversification and investment
00:10:39.120now people need to remember too that mark carney is not a prime minister he is a finance guy right
00:10:45.160and so his focus on everything is numbers so to him canada is not a nation it's not a people it's
00:10:52.920not something you know that needs to be uh has multiple different issues that need to be addressed
00:10:58.580social issues you know political issues and that it's simply just a number an investment
00:11:03.080and how can he kind of he gets off on on you know making good investments that kind of thing0.76
00:11:08.580it's all a fugazi you know what a fugazi is well fugazi it's a fake yeah fugazi fugazi it's a wasi0.56
00:11:15.740it's a woozy it's a fairy dust it doesn't exist it's never landed it is no matter it's not on0.98
00:11:21.500the elemental chart it it's not fucking real of course the reality is that low there is low per0.91
00:11:27.340worker investment right now huge household debt business closures are actually outpacing business0.80
00:11:34.340openings, and the net investment flight, over $1 trillion cited in prior years,
00:11:42.040weak productivity, and youth unemployment challenges. Basically, the critics of the
00:11:47.420governments, like people like me and most people, really, who, you know, don't believe any of this
00:11:52.500gaslighting, they call the updates illusions and ignores the declining living standards for many,
00:11:58.960of course, right? So these patterns fit classic gaslighting traits when institutions either
00:12:04.320deny or trivialize observable pain. So like, for example, saying affordability is better,
00:12:09.620well, the polls show widespread struggle, and your own antidotal evidence shows widespread
00:12:14.460struggle. They'll shift the blame to global factors, the Iran war, for example, prior
00:12:21.720governments constantly blaming, you know, the conservatives for doing stuff currently, but they
00:12:26.420all do that. Or external shocks like tariffs. So the fact that, you know, the big orange, bad orange
00:12:33.140man rather put tariffs on our products is why we're suffering so badly now and then of course
00:12:38.900they also highlight selective metrics so if you know that book called how to lie with statistics
00:12:43.460well all these politicians have read that book and they've memorized it so they'll headline the
00:12:48.580gdp like the overall gdp and or they'll like you know deficit like they'll tweak the deficit
00:12:54.880numbers and stuff like that to make it look like it's better than it is and they never give you
00:12:58.780the per capita outcome or daily realities of people living here. Independent data from StatsCan,
00:13:04.880the Bank of Canada, Fraser Institute, and polls actually, support real pressure on households,
00:13:10.940even as technical recession was avoided. Now, two of my most, like the ones that really,
00:13:21.420really piss me off, are the fact that the immigrants that are coming here are doctors1.00
00:13:26.780and engineers. Now for this, we're never going to be able to find government statistics, but I0.99
00:13:34.140believe the best evidence is anecdotal. So we're going to go over, instead of me talking through
00:13:38.460this whole thing, we're just going to go over some anecdotal evidence to obviously disprove this
00:13:42.900claim. For example, we have this. In March, a foreign worker from India, a student turned
00:13:48.700permanent resident, got 5.5 months of house arrest for using her position as a Walmart cashier to
00:13:55.060help her friend steal $7,000 worth of merchandise. Immigration consequences was one reason for the
00:14:01.840light sentence. So this is an example of the doctors and engineers that are coming here.1.00
00:14:07.400Now we all know this is quite a persuasive issue in Canadian society right now is these
00:14:13.780doctors and engineers abusing and well using and abusing our food bank system which is not there
00:14:19.880for them students are expected to be able to fund their stay here when they
00:14:25.220come so not only are they not doing that but they brag about you know abusing our
00:14:31.000food banks so another doctor and engineer
00:14:33.280so this was just pictures I guess but yeah one of the other doctors and
00:14:47.000engineers that are, you know, coming here and basically doing food bank hauls. And some more
00:14:53.640doctors and engineers here who actually have to use the taxpayer money. So Canadians are struggling
00:14:58.560to live. Unvetted refugees and asylum seekers, oh sorry, doctors and engineers, are handed housing,0.99
00:15:05.260standby doctors, and three square meals a day before they even get approved.1.00
00:15:10.280This invites migrants to illegally drain taxpayer funds from the people who need it the most.0.99
00:15:14.820Well, they're doctors and engineers, right?0.75
00:15:18.440Mr. Jakes, what sort of services does the Region of Peel provide to asylum claimants?
00:15:28.100Well, we hire organizations such as COSI to provide those services, but we also provide health care services.
00:15:35.260So from a public health perspective, there's a doctor on site, there are nurses on site, public health officials on site to make sure all the vaccinations are up to speed.
00:15:43.440we provide employment counseling as well as employment opportunities so we bring
00:15:49.260in companies such as Tim Hortons for example to run job fairs for individuals
00:15:53.460we work with them through housing housing navigation to understand you
00:15:58.820know what housing opportunities are available for them career opportunities
00:16:02.520for them that we're not include providing three meals a day for asylum
00:16:06.040claimants yes so our reception and does that include providing services like
00:16:12.040shelters like hotels and other housing accommodations temporarily for families
00:16:17.080yeah yes for families for individuals and who pays for these hotels so it's
00:16:23.880it's cost shared between the federal government and the municipality and how
00:16:27.640much does uh money does peel receive from the federal government through the
00:16:31.480through these uh interim housing assistance program so for eligible
00:16:37.360costs uh for 25 26 we received 95 of eligible costs for transitional housing in the reception
00:16:43.920center from the federal government feel responsible for how much is that in dollar value
00:16:48.960so in dollar value in 2025 federal contribution was 29.8 million dollars and then the regional
00:16:56.240contribution was 2.3 million so why would doctors and engineers need that much taxpayer money if
00:17:02.000if they were coming here to work as doctors and engineers.
00:17:06.280What about these doctors and engineers
00:17:08.460who had an organized crime network going on in Canada?
00:17:12.280All of them, or sorry, all but one were actually based in Canada,
00:17:15.800but none of them are Canadian citizens.
00:17:18.180109 criminal offences linked to organized crime activity,
00:17:23.260This is something I never knew doctors and engineers did,
00:17:27.000and this is not the kind of doctors and engineers
00:17:29.340I thought we actually needed in Canada.
00:17:30.900Be predatory on innocent families, you can't. Here's a case where all the alleged criminals are not even Canadian citizens, but they were acting with impunity in our region. If you think this can be replicated, it's going to have the same result, because we have the best of the best in the Peel Regional Police. And having CBSA here to send a very clear signal that this is not tolerated in Canada, I think is particularly helpful.
00:17:52.540You've caught basically one ring of probably thousands that are going on here,
00:17:57.160and our government is complicit in it because they keep gaslighting us
00:18:00.500and telling us that we need doctors and engineers,
00:18:03.040and then bringing over these criminals claiming that they're doctors and engineers.
00:18:06.740A woman in Edmonton, Alberta, says a security guard at the superstore on Gateway Boulevard
00:23:19.020a way to gaslight the public into thinking that it's a two-way street, but it's really just a
00:23:24.040mechanism for them to import their excess males who are low-skilled and, you know, will never have
00:23:29.700a job over there. But, you know, again, they're doctors and engineers that we need.
00:23:36.240And of course, one of the other big things that they like to gaslight us about is the fact that
00:23:41.200we have a labor shortage. So let's go over what kind of labor shortage we're experiencing here
00:23:47.240that we need to bring in all these doctors and engineers. Canada has the highest, or sorry,
00:23:52.760second highest, let's not give them that much credit, second highest unemployment rate in G7
00:23:57.220countries. Next to that are, of course, the EU countries, which, of course, Carney wants us to
00:24:01.940get closer to. Weak countries matching with weak countries, not good, explains why Canada and
00:24:06.960France walk hand in hand. So according to our government, we are in desperate need of labor.
00:24:12.860We have a huge labor shortage and we need to bring in all these people to, you know, do the labor here that, you know, those lazy ass Canadians don't want to do. Somehow, though, we have a 6.9 percent unemployment rate. And that is just in the general public. That is not including the youth unemployment rate, which is like a staggering 20 percent.1.00
00:24:31.440Now, let's look at some recent, not recent, sorry about that, for how we're so desperate for these workers and labor that this is what happens when you go apply for a job in Canada.0.99
00:24:48.620Let's mute the Indian music because it's disgusting.0.98
00:24:53.560But these are all people lined up for a job at a shoe store, which is just a retail position.1.00
00:24:58.660This is in Brampton and this is Winners. So this is another retail organization that apparently needs is having such a huge labor shortage that they have hundreds of people lining up for a minimum wage, part time sales job.
00:25:11.560if this is what a labor shortage looks like i hate to see uh what it looks like when we don't
00:25:31.180have a labor shortage now this here is for a job interview at a tire factory in woodbridge so again
00:25:38.120And our labour shortage that the government keeps telling us about, why are we seeing lines like this every single day?
