00:06:26.680 noticed a change in how we invest. Uh, we're very fortunate to have more money
00:06:31.280 than we've ever had, but we are hesitant to lose it since we've struggled
00:06:35.520 financially for the majority of our careers. Our question is how do we get over
00:06:39.980 the, we don't want to lose this mentality and think more long-term about our
00:06:43.300 money? Well, you have to come to the understanding of reality. If you do not stay
00:06:48.020 aggressive about accumulating funds, you will eventually not have any funds.

00:07:03.660 their mentality changes from what it was that got them the money to protecting

00:07:12.300 also have to realize that while it's smart to make good investments and to be
00:07:17.260 smart about conserving that main, uh, equity nut, which is what you have there.

00:07:26.480 back into that. And what usually happens where people really screw up is
00:07:30.060 instead of, um, doing whatever it is they did to get the money in the first place,
00:07:37.640 they get to a certain point and then it goes into straight up defense. Okay. And
00:07:42.440 we've talked about this on the show before, you know, prevent defense and
00:07:45.120 football does not fucking work in the fucking second quarter. Yeah. You're
00:07:48.440 going to fucking lose. Okay. So it's really a perspective switch that you need
00:07:52.820 to be conscious of. And the fact that you're even asking the question shows to
00:07:56.960 me that you're aware enough to understand that this is not a good thing. Okay. We
00:08:01.600 have gotten a little bit complacent. We've gotten defensive. We've gotten
00:08:04.820 fearful. And not only are those bad strategies, they are also putting out
00:08:10.880 vibes into the universe that actually brings you what it is you're thinking
00:08:15.420 about. So when you're thinking about how to not lose money, you end up losing
00:08:19.640 money. Right. But when you think about gaining money, you gain money. And so you
00:08:24.800 have to understand that there's a multiple aspects to this, but the main thing
00:08:29.000 is, is, and how I've gotten around this is I just pretend I don't have
00:08:33.100 anything. I just pretend I don't have anything. Like I come to work every day.

00:09:13.140 lose if you don't switch that mentality. And the easiest way that I've found to
00:09:18.840 make that switch mentally when you do have some things, because it is harder when
00:09:23.380 you have resources to believe or behave as if you don't because you do. Yeah. So
00:09:31.980 like, that's where I talk about zero option mentality, right? Like part of zero
00:09:36.820 option mentality. And if you're unfamiliar with zero option mentality, um, it's
00:09:40.460 basically the idea that you, your back is against the wall, just like it is on
00:09:44.100 day one, the literal day one that you started it, whatever it is that you do.
00:09:48.640 More than 80 years ago. Yeah. Yeah. Like I had to execute. I didn't have a
00:09:52.500 choice. I had to do it. And as you get more successful, that, that mentality
00:09:57.580 becomes more and more rare and harder to cultivate. And so the way I've been able

00:13:59.360 difficult? Yeah. It's very difficult. And the bigger you get, the harder it gets.

00:15:11.320 their standards, they look at this as the ultimate win, they can't grasp the idea of
00:15:17.400 what, how big the project really is. Right. You see what I'm saying? So that, and that

00:15:26.580 some of you guys run massive companies, even bigger than what I run. They listen to

00:16:38.000 companies. Yeah. Uh, Andy question number two, uh, Andy, most successful people are always
00:16:44.380 working for more. Uh, it seems like they're never satisfied with where they are. Average people
00:16:49.160 always think, uh, such people are constantly on the lookout for something else, uh, than what
00:16:54.180 they have in present. How do you explain to those people, the balance between being grateful
00:16:59.340 for what you have, uh, and still having big, enormous goals. And how do you keep a balance
00:17:05.200 of that? Well, look, to keep your sanity, you have to have, and I have a whole episode on
00:17:10.900 this. It's about, uh, the equation of happiness, but to keep your sanity, you have to have gratitude
00:17:17.040 because when you're on a mission to, to build something great, it's going to feel like most of
00:17:22.780 the time that shit is not going the way that you want it to go. And it's not, that's not
00:17:27.580 a bad day. That's just the process. The process is shit breaks and you fix it and you improve
00:17:33.400 it every single time. And that shit breaks every single day. And so, you know, having
00:17:38.700 the, I, the mentality of gratitude, uh, accompanied with purpose, defined purpose, and then also
00:17:45.200 exercising discipline will allow you to feel good about where you're at, understanding that
00:17:50.740 you're moving forward, uh, simultaneously with that. So, you know, I think the biggest
00:17:56.380 thing that we all have to recognize is that gratitude is a necessity for people who are
00:18:02.180 building anything that is outside the norm of an average existence because it's hard.
00:18:09.340 And if you don't have it, you're going to be fucking miserable and you're going to feel
00:18:12.160 like you're going fucking insane. So it's not something that's like, and I would be the
00:18:16.220 first one to say, man, that's bullshit. That's, that doesn't matter. Blah, blah, blah. That
00:18:21.140 does matter if you don't want to go fucking insane. Right. Okay. So what I try to do is
00:18:27.240 to make myself understand, like when I'm, you said, how do we communicate this to, to people?

00:18:57.360 them to a point where they can join you and accompany you on your journey. Now, not every
00:19:01.880 person is going to step up to that. Not every person wants that. And because not every person wants
00:19:07.640 that, um, they will be miserable most of their lives because they will be trying to avoid the
00:19:12.700 hard. This is why people and most people are average because they're trying to avoid the hard
00:19:17.540 work. And what they don't understand is that when you try to avoid the hard work, all you're doing
00:19:24.420 is trading one hard for another hard. Okay. You're trading the hard work and instead of doing the hard
00:19:30.700 work and the shit that sucks. Okay. And the shit that creates greatness, you're choosing to opt out of
00:19:36.120 that. But in exchange for that opt out, you get an entirely different hard. And that's a hard of
00:19:41.140 not being able to pay your fucking bills, not being able to go to places you want, not being able to
00:19:46.280 live the life you want, not driving the shit you want, not living where you want, not being able to
00:19:50.460 do the things for the people you care about that you wish you could. That's what you're trading for
00:19:54.440 that. And this is a very easy thing to understand if you just think about it for a fucking second,
00:19:59.180 but most people will succumb to the incessant media propaganda, which is people who want to
00:20:08.880 achieve at a high level are greedy, materialistic, fucked up. There's something wrong with them.
