00:00:00.000 What is up guys, it's Andy Purcell and this is the show for the realist sake about it,
00:00:20.780 the lies, the fakeness and delusions of modern society and welcome to motherfucking reality.
00:00:25.420 Guys, today we have 75 hard verses, but before we get to that, I'd like to remind you that
00:00:33.680 we have shows within the show, okay, we got Q&AF, that's where you submit the questions
00:00:38.560 and we give the answers.
00:00:40.100 You can submit your questions for that show a couple different ways.
00:00:44.280 The first way is, you're here, aren't you?
00:00:52.000 How do we do it?
00:00:53.060 Guys, you can submit those questions, email them in to askandy at andyforcell.com.
00:00:58.560 All right, now you can do whatever else you want.
00:01:01.260 All right, or you can drop your question in the comments and we'll pick some from there
00:01:06.500 as well on the Q&AF episodes.
00:01:08.100 Other times you tune in, we got CTI, CTI stands for cruise, the internet is where we put topics
00:01:13.440 on the screen, we talk about what's going on, we speculate on what's true and what's not
00:01:18.460 true and then we talk about how we, the people, have to solve these problems going on in society.
00:01:23.060 Other times we have real talk, real talk is just five to 20 minutes of me giving you
00:01:26.860 some real talk.
00:01:27.780 And then other times we have 75 hard verses, that's today.
00:01:32.640 So you're going to find out what that's all about.
00:01:34.420 Now, if you're unfamiliar with 75 hard, it is the world's most recognized and famous mental
00:01:40.240 transformation program.
00:01:41.440 It is free.
00:01:42.060 It is the initial phase of the live hard program.
00:01:44.480 You can get it for free on the audio feed at episode 208.
00:01:49.040 It's not on YouTube.
00:01:50.000 It's only on audio.
00:01:50.980 So episode 208, there is a book on my website, the book on mental toughness.
00:01:56.040 You can get that at andyfrusella.com.
00:01:58.060 It covers the entire live hard program in and out, top to bottom, left to right.
00:02:03.720 However you want to say it, it does it all.
00:02:06.420 And it has 10 chapters on mental toughness, why it's important, why you need to cultivate it,
00:02:11.280 how it's going to improve your life along with some case studies.
00:02:14.520 Book is not required, but if you're somebody that needs to know the ins and outs in detail,
00:02:18.020 it's a great book.
00:02:18.920 And I think you're going to like it a lot, especially at 10 chapters.
00:02:22.560 We have a fee for the show.
00:02:24.000 Fee for the show is share the show.
00:02:26.300 All right.
00:02:26.720 So if you like the show, if it makes you think, if it gives you something, change your perspective,
00:02:31.900 makes you laugh, please share the show.
00:02:34.780 Don't be a hoe.
00:02:36.180 Share the show.
00:02:36.920 All right.
00:02:37.180 Now you can go.
00:02:37.780 All right.
00:02:38.460 All right.
00:02:38.980 I am here today with an amazing 75 hard story from my buddy, Jeffrey Jensen.
00:02:48.240 What's happening, bro?
00:02:49.080 What's up, man?
00:02:49.760 How are you?
00:02:50.320 Pumped to be here.
00:02:51.220 Yeah.
00:02:51.380 It's great to have you here, dude.
00:02:52.360 Yeah.
00:02:53.080 Was experiencing the entire First Form tour.
00:02:56.900 And now I know why you walk through and film the back warehouse, because that was some crazy stuff.
00:03:03.100 Yeah.
00:03:03.500 Literally watching the boxes come down.
00:03:05.480 Yeah.
00:03:05.740 And people packing stuff was like super, super dope.
00:03:08.100 You guys have done such an incredible job.
00:03:10.580 Thanks, brother.
00:03:10.800 And this place is like flawless, even down to like, there's no cleaning crew.
00:03:14.460 Yeah.
00:03:14.620 It's like mind boggling.
00:03:15.500 We have a, we have an amazing team, dude.
00:03:17.560 No doubt.
00:03:18.020 We have an amazing team of very high standard individuals.
00:03:21.220 And I'm very, very proud of what they do here.
00:03:23.460 So it's really, really cool.
00:03:25.120 The warehouse is cool, though.
00:03:26.220 It's dope.
00:03:26.800 It's like my favorite thing to go see.
00:03:27.840 And it's air conditioned?
00:03:28.820 Yeah.
00:03:29.020 Like who does that?
00:03:29.700 It's got to be because we got all the bars.
00:03:31.040 I know.
00:03:31.420 I know.
00:03:31.600 I don't want to melt.
00:03:32.580 It's true.
00:03:34.840 All right.
00:03:35.400 So let's get into this, man.
00:03:38.160 All right.
00:03:38.440 You used to be pretty fat, right?
00:03:40.860 No doubt.
00:03:41.540 All right.
00:03:41.880 What was your high weight?
00:03:43.860 Highest on the scale was 352.
00:03:45.840 But let's be honest, that was probably over 360.
00:03:48.460 I just stopped weighing myself because after you hit 352, you're kind of like, ah, what's
00:03:52.500 the point in weighing yourself?
00:03:53.900 So, bro, I know what that's like, man.
00:03:55.300 You don't even want to get on the scale.
00:03:57.060 I got on the scale when I was big at 318.
00:04:00.460 And then I was like, oh, I'm about the same size.
00:04:03.340 And I waited like six months to get back on fucking 350.
00:04:07.440 And I thought I was 318.
00:04:09.380 So it sneaks up on you because you stopped looking at it.
00:04:12.340 It definitely does.
00:04:13.080 Yeah.
00:04:13.360 So tell us, you know, where are you from?
00:04:15.480 What you're about?
00:04:16.280 What do you do?
00:04:17.340 And how'd you get into the 75 hard?
00:04:20.020 And let's talk about how we got there.
00:04:22.300 And then we'll talk about what it was about.
00:04:23.660 Yeah.
00:04:23.900 So from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, born and raised there and struggled with being
00:04:29.180 overweight my entire life.
00:04:30.540 Always thought I was like big boned.
00:04:32.120 We all know that's not true.
00:04:34.200 I was just fat.
00:04:35.480 And it's crazy.
00:04:37.360 In 2016, my wife, Lauren, and I had our first son.
00:04:41.400 And that's kind of when I really hit that point of like, man, this is bad.
00:04:44.740 Like she pushed, not labored.
00:04:47.160 She actually pushed our son Levi for three hours.
00:04:50.120 And when she was done, I was soaking wet with sweat.
00:04:53.580 And I was like, that's a problem.
00:04:54.700 Like she just pushed for three hours and I'm over here just like comforting her.
00:04:59.000 And I have like man boob sweat all over my shirt.
00:05:01.280 Yeah.
00:05:01.500 And so that was kind of my first wake up call.
00:05:04.000 And in 2017, my brother, Jason, and I, who are business partners, launched a meal prep
00:05:07.980 company called 212 Meal Prep.
00:05:09.600 And that kind of started my journey of like, hey, I've got to get my shit together.
00:05:13.240 I've got to get on track.
00:05:14.560 And I started losing weight.
00:05:16.300 I started eating our food, going to the gym.
00:05:18.580 But I never made the change on my mental side, right?
00:05:22.540 I never focused on doing any mental work, changing my mindset.
00:05:25.240 And so when COVID hit, our business got absolutely wrecked.
00:05:28.820 We were losing like 12 to 15 grand a month.
00:05:31.220 And I literally had lost probably like 80 pounds in the first few years of owning the
00:05:36.440 business.
00:05:36.960 And then I just like ate my feelings.
00:05:39.040 I was super stressed out.
00:05:40.360 We had so many conversations, like so many other businesses that got hosed during that
00:05:43.740 time of like, hey, we're going to have to lay people off.
00:05:46.260 We're either going to have to close.
00:05:47.200 We might have to file bankruptcy, all the things.
00:05:49.000 Um, and it was in, uh, March of 2021, right after my 33rd birthday, I ended up in the
00:05:55.440 hospital.
00:05:55.780 I was blacking out randomly and, uh, my blood pressure was 180 over 120.
00:06:00.320 And they're like, man, you're lucky you didn't stroke out and die and ran all the tests, did
00:06:05.280 all the things.
00:06:05.840 And basically like, you're fat, like you just need to get in shape.
00:06:08.440 And so I hired a trainer, started working out, started eating our food again.
00:06:12.260 Now this is when?
00:06:13.180 In, uh, March of 2021.
00:06:14.880 Okay.
00:06:15.300 And, uh, but I still lied to myself, right?
00:06:17.400 So I would do good Monday through Thursday and then do bad on the weekend and rinse and
00:06:21.560 repeat.
00:06:21.880 And October of 2021, I was at an event promoting our company and, uh, first form showed up.
00:06:28.880 And so started having some interaction with your guys and literally life-changing moment.
00:06:34.760 Um, we were setting up our tent and Sam Funderburg came over and he said, Hey man, I really like
00:06:40.360 your RST.
00:06:41.240 And he was talking about my truck and, uh, we hit it off.
00:06:44.240 We started talking about cars.
00:06:45.460 And the next thing you know, the next 12 hours we spent between our booth and y'all's booth.
00:06:50.480 And I had some of the most amazing interactions with some really cool guys.
00:06:54.680 And, um, him and Chaz really left an impact on me that day.
00:06:58.360 Oh, you got to be Chaz too.
00:07:00.020 I did.
00:07:00.560 I'm surprised you could see him.
00:07:02.180 He's so little.
00:07:03.000 I know.
00:07:03.320 Um, but you know, but it's, it's crazy.
00:07:05.760 Cause I'd, I'd heard of you before I'd listened to MFCEO project, um, but I had never listened
00:07:10.780 to real AF.
00:07:11.680 And, um, so we're having a conversation.
00:07:14.160 I'm back to being like three 50.
00:07:16.160 Now I'm promoting our meal prep company.
00:07:18.040 So like, I'm a fat dude trying to sell healthy meals.
00:07:20.620 Like I could help you get in shape.
00:07:22.120 And, uh, he's like, I know what that's, he's like, you should hear Andy's story.
00:07:25.840 And I'm like, what's his story.
00:07:27.560 So he starts sharing with me your story and talking about 75 hard.
00:07:31.180 And so on the drive home, we had a three and a half hour drive home.
00:07:34.360 We started listening to real AF and in 2020 went down the rabbit hole of some conspiracy
00:07:39.440 theories.
00:07:39.900 And so listening to real AF, I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:07:43.220 And it turned out to, I'm just saying, yeah, if you know, Andy Domus, that's right.
00:07:47.400 Got it right.
00:07:48.020 Listening.
00:07:48.300 You know what's going on.
00:07:49.380 But I started listening to your show and I was like, dude, this guy gets it.
00:07:53.140 Like, this is it.
00:07:54.260 And so fell in love, obviously with the podcast.
00:07:57.160 And, um, a couple of days later I was sitting in my office and I had had a conversation with
00:08:02.440 my personal trainer.
00:08:03.060 I was like, I think I want to do 75 hard.
00:08:04.740 And he was like, and I love him.
00:08:06.320 He was a great guy, but he's like, oh, that might be a little much.
00:08:08.360 Like maybe let's just focus on doing what we're kind of doing now.
00:08:11.680 And like, you know, getting more consistent.
00:08:14.320 And I was listening to an episode of 75 hard verses.
00:08:17.020 And, um, I started doing the math, right.
00:08:20.020 And I started saying, all right, if I started today, man, that's going to put me going through
00:08:23.520 Thanksgiving.
00:08:24.400 That's going to put me, my dad was turning 60 that year.
00:08:26.620 So we had a big surprise party.
00:08:27.780 We had a 10 day vacation planned.
00:08:29.600 And I was just like, oh man, that is going to like, that's going to ruin like the rest of
00:08:34.240 the year.
00:08:35.120 And by myself in my office with no one around, I literally said out loud, I said, you fat fuck,
00:08:40.180 you will die if you don't change your life.
00:08:42.360 And I remember texting my wife and I said, Hey, I'm, I'm doing this thing called 75 hard.
00:08:47.500 Would love your support.
00:08:48.640 You don't have to do it with me.
00:08:49.600 I just need your support.
00:08:50.460 Cause it's going to be the hardest thing I've ever done.
00:08:51.900 And I literally got up, we had a gym in our office and I put on the episode that explained
00:08:57.040 75 hard.
00:08:57.880 And I did my first workout and that literally changed everything.
00:09:01.740 That's awesome, dude.
00:09:02.540 So you did it how you're supposed to do it, which is once you decide you're supposed to
00:09:06.360 go right then.
00:09:07.320 A lot of people say, Oh, I'll do it after this.
00:09:09.820 I'll do it after that.
00:09:10.940 And what they're doing is they're conditioning themselves and building their bitch voice up
00:09:15.680 even further and bringing their self-confidence down.
00:09:18.680 They're just repeating the same behavior that they've been repeating, which you know very
00:09:22.000 well, right?
00:09:22.660 Which goes like this.
00:09:24.200 I'll start Monday.
00:09:25.860 I'll start after the birthday.
00:09:27.340 I'll start after the vacation.
00:09:28.940 I'll start after that wedding.
00:09:30.500 I'll start after Christmas.
00:09:32.180 No, you won't.
00:09:33.240 You've been telling yourself that forever.
00:09:34.900 That's why you're still fucking fat.
00:09:36.300 Let me ask you this.
00:09:39.380 What was the difference between all those times that you tried to lose weight and then
00:09:44.820 75 hard?
00:09:47.500 I think, well, one, I don't think you could, I think you have to get to a point where you're
00:09:51.640 like, I've got to change, right?
00:09:53.100 Like you can't make anybody change.
00:09:54.840 And I think I was finally at that point where I was like, I've got to do this.
00:09:58.420 My personality bodes really well to 75 hard.
00:10:02.080 I like to have structure and like something to work towards.
00:10:05.520 And that's why I hate when people call it a challenge or they're like, it's unsustainable
00:10:11.380 or whatever.
00:10:11.800 Like, no, it's a program.
00:10:13.000 It's literally like you rinse and repeat.
00:10:14.980 And once you go through 75 hard, you realize like it's pretty simple.
00:10:19.120 Like the tasks are pretty manageable and doable.
00:10:22.000 But I think this time it was, um, I did, I did a couple of things.
00:10:26.220 So I'd never been shirtless in public, um, my entire, like probably from the age of 13.
00:10:31.540 Um, and the only person that had ever seen me shirtless was my wife.
00:10:35.280 And so I made a commitment to myself that I was going to document the entire journey on
00:10:40.620 social media.
00:10:41.180 And that when I was done, I was going to post my before and after picture.
00:10:44.620 And that scared the shit out of me.
00:10:46.600 Um, because like, I wouldn't take my brother and I are business partners.
00:10:49.560 We're best friends.
00:10:50.320 We've traveled the world together.
00:10:51.480 Like when we would stay in the hotel together, like I'd change in the bathroom.
00:10:54.180 Yeah.
00:10:54.420 So like me posting a photo on social media was like, I did not want anything to do with
00:10:59.400 that.
00:10:59.620 And I remember listening to an episode where Sal talked about it, about when he finally
00:11:03.780 got like vulnerable and like started sharing more about his journey.
00:11:06.700 And that really resonated with me.
00:11:08.200 So I think one, having that, like almost like created that external pressure of like, Hey,
00:11:13.860 you, you're now accountable to all these people.
00:11:16.380 And I hate losing more than I like winning.
00:11:18.720 So I definitely did not want to fail.
00:11:21.000 Um, and so like every day it was like such, such intention of like, I do not want to wake
00:11:26.220 up to your face of like, you were just disgusted.
00:11:29.200 Yeah.
00:11:29.740 You were just, you were at a point where I'm so disgusted with where I'm at.
00:11:33.820 I got to do something.
00:11:34.920 Yeah.
00:11:35.380 And then I also knew like, once I like said I was going to do it, I was going to go 110%.
00:11:40.280 Like if it killed me, I was going to go as hard as I possibly could.
00:11:43.160 So that at the end of it, no matter what, I could be proud of the results.
00:11:47.800 You know what?
00:11:48.660 I, I, I, my story is very similar to that.
00:11:51.100 Um, I struggled with my weight my whole life.
00:11:53.300 I went up and down, up and down, up and down.
00:11:55.020 I went from being in great shape to being extremely overweight five or six times.
00:11:59.200 Um, up until the point of 2000 and 15, the end of 15, the beginning of 16, where I was
00:12:06.100 like, fuck, I'm fucking done with this, bro.
00:12:08.340 And I knew our company wouldn't grow any further if I continue to operate like that.
00:12:12.660 And I was letting my team down.
00:12:14.840 And what really changed for me, I was able to pull off, um, a hundred pounds before 75
00:12:21.800 hard ever became a thing.
00:12:23.880 And then I started putting it back on, you know, I went from back up from two 50 to two
00:12:28.240 70 and then it got to like two 78 and I'm like, bro, I'm not getting over two 80 again.
00:12:32.940 And, uh, cause I knew that would be 300 and then it would be the same thing.
00:12:36.980 And, you know, one of the things, and I'm curious to hear what you think, but one of
00:12:43.220 the things that really made a big difference for me struggling like that was when I realized
00:12:49.360 what the fundamental issue was, the fundamental issue wasn't, I didn't know what to do.
00:12:54.960 It wasn't that I was necessarily too lazy to do it, but my ability to stick to things,
00:13:03.820 to adhere to things was the problem.
00:13:06.920 And I recognize that that was a problem in all areas of my life.
00:13:10.780 Um, I couldn't finish.
00:13:12.440 I could just start and I would get five, six, 10, two weeks, three weeks in.
00:13:17.700 And then I'm like, oh, it's, I'm doing good.
00:13:20.120 And then I would reward myself with the same behavior that I was trying to get away from.
00:13:24.320 And I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the difference between thinking of it as I got
00:13:30.420 to lose weight rather than thinking of it as I've got to look at this as a mental transformation
00:13:36.400 that I need to make so that I can adhere to the things that I want to do in my life.
00:13:41.840 What do you think about that?
00:13:43.200 A thousand, like that is like a thousand percent.
00:13:46.080 Cause it switched it for me, dude.
00:13:47.540 It made it real easy.
00:13:48.520 Like when I started fucking telling myself, bro, you're mentally weak.
00:13:54.320 Like, this is not about being fat, bro.
00:13:56.240 This is about, you can't control this beer that sits in front of you.
00:13:59.260 Yes.
00:13:59.540 You can't control this pizza.
00:14:01.280 How the fuck are you going to build a company?
00:14:03.120 How are you going to be successful?
00:14:04.520 How?
00:14:04.960 And at that time I had built a company, but I hadn't, it's not like it now, you know what
00:14:08.880 I'm saying?
00:14:09.660 And that pissed me off.
00:14:14.020 Like that fucking bothered me.
00:14:15.380 Like, bro, I can't fucking, I'm losing to a fucking pizza.
00:14:19.240 Yeah.
00:14:19.560 You know what I'm saying?
00:14:20.580 What do you think on that?
00:14:21.720 No, it's the inability to keep promises to yourself.
00:14:24.500 It's like, I mean, that sums it up right there.
00:14:26.720 And that was always my thing.
00:14:27.820 Like I had lost like 80 or 90 pounds and we did it.
00:14:31.640 We had a family cruise.
00:14:32.640 So like we did a weight loss challenge and like, oh, we're going to get in great shape
00:14:35.360 for this cruise.
00:14:35.940 And then I went on the cruise and I ate like a shithead.
00:14:37.940 Like I literally just went back to my old habits, drinking, eating, put on the weight
00:14:42.200 again, and then like, couldn't get it off.
00:14:43.880 So this 75 hard to me, it's, it's people say it takes 21 days to form a habit.
00:14:48.860 That's terrible.
00:14:50.420 Like, yeah, it's not true.
00:14:51.500 Yeah.
00:14:51.760 I think 75 to 120 days, you actually can start to make real change.
00:14:56.220 And that's what you learn with 75 hard is it's long enough that it causes you to have
00:15:01.040 to have inconvenience, right?
00:15:02.380 Like we had weddings, we had vacations, we had parties, like we had so many different things
00:15:06.980 that you go through while you're on 75 hard and you just learn like, hey, the only way
00:15:11.860 to get progress is to do something long enough and stop quitting.
00:15:15.500 Because like you said, it would be this cyclical cycle of, hey, do really, really good for even
00:15:20.900 let's call it three weeks and just be like, oh, like either I lost some weight.
00:15:25.300 So now I reward myself with pizza or I'm not seeing progress.
00:15:28.180 So fuck it.
00:15:28.940 This is just too hard.
00:15:30.020 I might as well just eat what I want to eat because I'm not seeing progress.
00:15:32.280 And so that to me is what 75 hard teaches you.
00:15:35.220 It's like every single day, it doesn't matter about what the end result is.
00:15:39.820 It matters about every day doing the task and just completing it to the best of your ability.
00:15:44.100 And to me, I just kept telling myself, like, you only have to do this for one more day.
00:15:48.460 Like, all you got to do is do this today.
00:15:50.100 Like, just get your.
00:15:50.700 Yeah.
00:15:50.940 And then you wake up in the morning like I fucking did it.
00:15:52.820 Right.
00:15:53.100 And then your confidence is up a little bit.
00:15:54.700 Right.
00:15:54.980 Right.
00:15:55.180 Ever wake up with regret.
00:15:56.500 Right.
00:15:56.900 And that's why, like, every day you wake up and you just build momentum.
00:16:00.340 And then once that momentum kicks in, I love so I read 75 hard while I was doing 75 hard.
00:16:06.160 And it was crazy because, like, the way you describe the different days, like, I remember
00:16:10.580 getting to the end and being in that that God mode where you're just like, dude, I can
00:16:13.820 do anything.
00:16:14.420 Yeah.
00:16:14.700 Like, literally, I'm unstoppable.
00:16:16.340 Yeah.
00:16:16.940 And it's funny.
00:16:17.860 My journey ended on our 10 day vacation.
00:16:20.180 Like, my last 10 days, we were on vacation.
00:16:22.140 And, like, I remember just, like, I packed a bench and dumbbells and, like, a vest and,
00:16:26.900 like, we were snowboarding.
00:16:29.200 And people were like, oh, did you count snowboarding as a workout?
00:16:30.960 I was like, no, that's not a workout.
00:16:32.060 Like, that's fun.
00:16:32.980 Yeah.
00:16:33.240 A workout is 45 minutes of intentional working out.
00:16:35.760 That's right.
00:16:36.120 Like, not something you would do for fun.
00:16:38.180 Right.
00:16:38.460 Not mowing the grass.
00:16:39.420 Yeah.
00:16:39.740 Not playing golf.
00:16:41.160 Right.
00:16:41.380 It's a fucking dedicated workout, bro.
00:16:43.540 And that was another thing I learned.
00:16:44.860 And, like, I had, and obviously, like, going through the journey and having the podcast as
00:16:50.160 something I listened to.
00:16:50.920 Like, I literally would listen to Real AF pretty much on all my outdoor workouts.
00:16:54.540 And having these other episodes of 75 Heart Verses really made a huge impact because I
00:16:58.960 listened to Will's episode.
00:17:00.840 And I remember I had a day where I worked out and I was probably at, like, 42 minutes.
00:17:05.880 And someone showed up to my office and I had to help them.
00:17:08.680 And I went back.
00:17:09.680 It was, like, 15 minutes that I helped them.
00:17:11.460 And I went back and I finished my workout.
00:17:13.360 And then I was listening to that podcast in my outdoor workout.
00:17:16.020 And I was like, fuck.
00:17:17.300 I was like, that workout didn't count.
00:17:18.860 There was not 45 minutes of pure intention.
00:17:21.800 And I remember getting home that night and going in the garage and being like, I got to
00:17:24.780 do another workout.
00:17:25.560 Yeah.
00:17:25.860 But how'd you feel after that?
00:17:26.880 No, I felt great.
00:17:27.700 But it's like those little things you learn of, like, this is what separates you.
00:17:32.600 This is what makes you have life change and not just continuously going back to your old
00:17:38.220 habits.
00:17:38.520 And even weird things that I would pick up on, like, I would get something for my kids.
00:17:42.640 Like, let's say my son wanted a snack.
00:17:44.220 Like, my old habit, like, oh, I'm grabbing you some Doritos.
00:17:46.840 Like, I'll just eat a couple.
00:17:48.000 Like, I found myself, like, in that motion to be like, oh, you can't do that.
00:17:51.500 But it's like you learn how programmed you are to just do things without even thinking.
00:17:55.820 And this almost, like, unprogrammed you.
00:17:57.920 Yeah, for sure.
00:17:58.720 And it makes you kind of start over.
00:18:00.160 Dude, you're obviously, I'm not going to put words in your mouth, but I was a food addict.
00:18:06.320 Oh, yeah.
00:18:06.800 Definitely.
00:18:07.260 I think so, too.
00:18:08.000 Yeah.
00:18:08.220 Right.
00:18:08.420 Very emotional.
00:18:09.080 Like, everything had to be an event.
00:18:10.900 So, one of the problems I always had with dieting was the cheat meal mentality, right?
00:18:15.800 Like, when I would go six days, five days, and then say, oh, I get a cheat meal, almost
00:18:21.880 always that cheat meal would undo all the progress because it would be fucking massive.
00:18:26.480 Yeah.
00:18:26.760 And then on top of it, it was a trigger.
00:18:29.900 It sent me down the path of all the old shit that was causing all my old problems.
00:18:35.060 And I'm not against, you know, when you're fit and you've got your shit together and things
00:18:40.760 are good and you're mentally in control of your external circumstances, meaning your food,
00:18:45.520 you can control it, throwing in some nice meals once in a while.
00:18:49.580 But at the end of the day, if we're going to fix this problem in ourselves of the overeating
00:18:54.700 part, we have to fucking do that for an extended period of time.
00:18:57.980 It would be no different than if I said, you were addicted to heroin and I said, hey, you
00:19:03.860 know, you got to fucking stop using heroin, bro.
00:19:07.060 But every seven days.
00:19:07.940 But you got, yeah, every seven days you can get high.
00:19:10.680 And you know what?
00:19:11.520 Also, you can do a little bit every day, just a little bit, but you can't do more than that.
00:19:19.180 And otherwise, if you don't do a little bit, you're going to die.
00:19:22.260 I mean, bro, think about how hard that would be to change that habit.
00:19:25.920 And people that don't suffer with the food problem, the food addiction problem, even
00:19:30.380 if it's a little bit of an addiction, you know, they can't really understand that.
00:19:35.740 You know, they'll say things like, oh, and having a cheap meal is fine.
00:19:38.060 Yeah, maybe for you it is.
00:19:39.660 But for these people that have no control and no ability to adhere, like both of us and
00:19:44.980 millions of other people, it's we have to go an extended period of time to recalibrate
00:19:50.580 our mindset around that food.
00:19:53.660 No, 100%.
00:19:54.300 And and food addiction, in my opinion, is the hardest thing to break because you have
00:19:58.340 to eat.
00:19:58.880 No doubt.
00:19:59.760 Yeah.
00:19:59.920 And that's what you learn.
00:20:00.800 Like, I really had to start separating like food from emotion and pleasure into like, hey,
00:20:06.120 I eat to live and to fuel my body.
00:20:08.640 And now it's like I'll even have in my plan to have like a refeed or a free meal.
00:20:13.440 I don't know or a cheat meal, whatever you want to call it.
00:20:15.200 But it's like most of the time I don't even enjoy it because like I would rather just eat
00:20:18.760 clean because I just feel so much better.
00:20:20.460 Yeah, me too, bro.
00:20:21.780 It's out of me now, for real.
00:20:24.200 Well, probably not for real.
00:20:26.420 Like, I bet if I went like a week.
00:20:27.940 Yeah, I would probably get back in.
00:20:29.720 It's easy to slip back in.
00:20:30.920 Yeah, for sure.
00:20:32.100 Now, dude, we talk a lot about 75 hard when we, you know, we talk about not just the physical
00:20:39.160 transformation.
00:20:40.020 Right.
00:20:40.380 It is a mental recalibration program.
00:20:44.100 And for guys like us that were big and fat as fuck, let's be real.
00:20:48.160 We we tend people tend to notice the physical.
00:20:51.360 But we talk a lot about the confidence, the self-belief, the grit, the fortitude, the self-esteem,
00:20:58.820 the ability to endure.
00:21:01.080 Let's talk about that for a minute.
00:21:02.880 How were you before 75 hard in those areas?
00:21:06.900 It sounds like you struggle with your confidence, especially when it came to your body.
00:21:11.380 You were ashamed of it.
00:21:12.440 Things like that.
00:21:13.340 Yeah, I definitely had a confidence issue 100 percent in my body.
00:21:17.460 I feel like as someone who's kind of always been an entrepreneur and always like I've had
00:21:22.400 confidence in other areas.
00:21:23.920 Yeah.
00:21:24.360 But physically, that was something that like 1000 percent I lacked.
00:21:28.420 Like I did the fat guy like you pull on your shirt all the time and trying to get it
00:21:31.760 off of your man boobs like that kind of stuff.
00:21:33.520 But I'll say for in my like early 20s, I did network marketing.
00:21:39.880 So I was exposed to a ton of personal development.
00:21:42.380 And I think that personal development is phenomenal.
00:21:45.220 But I think there's this culture of like you just constantly are either reading, listening
00:21:50.140 or going to these events.
00:21:51.420 And then you're never like applying what you're learning.
00:21:53.920 You're never actually taking action.
00:21:55.080 And people get sucked into this absolutely just wheel of like, oh, I'm doing personal
00:21:59.120 development, but you're not doing anything with it.
00:22:01.060 And so I had finally gotten to a point where like I was just executing all the time.
00:22:06.140 And so doing 75 hard brought back in personal development.
00:22:10.020 And I remembered like, wow, like you can be an executor, but like having positive stuff
00:22:15.140 being poured into you to while you're executing is like the cheat code, because it's one thing
00:22:20.700 just to like listen and read and do all the things and never execute.
00:22:23.300 And then it's another thing just to execute and not have good stuff better.
00:22:27.560 And so like starting to read again and like listening to podcasts and like all that stuff
00:22:32.400 was massive for me because I used to do it all the time.
00:22:35.320 And then I just got so sick of like, well, I don't need to listen to that.
00:22:38.060 I just need to go out and work and like execute on it.
00:22:40.220 And so having that, like having to read the 10 pages a day and like stuff like that,
00:22:44.500 and even going into like phase one and like visualization and the different parts of the live
00:22:49.740 hard, those were all like massive game changers.
00:22:52.220 That's awesome, dude.
00:22:53.740 I firmly believe that most people know exactly what they want out of their life.
00:23:00.780 They say they don't, but they do know.
00:23:03.280 And I think a lot of people do exactly what you said.
00:23:05.940 They become what I call success zombies.
00:23:09.080 They will read, they will listen, they will go to seminars, they will hire some sort of mentor.
00:23:14.500 They will do all these things and they will continue to do those things because they're
00:23:18.100 afraid of actually taking action.
00:23:20.040 And I think one of the great things about 75 hard is that it forces you into action.
00:23:25.880 And by the time you're done with it, you're ready for more action.
00:23:29.620 And so I've heard from a lot of people that it's been a big catalyst in other areas of
00:23:35.300 their life, not just their fitness and not just their business, but also their relationships,
00:23:40.620 their friendships, their ability to be more effective with their time.
00:23:44.900 Um, what's your thoughts on, on that kind of stuff?
00:23:48.840 I mean, no doubt.
00:23:49.720 It, I mean, I don't know how deep into the story you want to get, but it literally changed
00:23:54.080 the trajectory of our life.
00:23:55.440 Yeah.
00:23:55.560 I want to hear it, bro.
00:23:56.400 That's why you're here.
00:23:57.300 Yeah.
00:23:57.560 So, I mean, it's like I finished 75 hard, which was amazing.
00:24:00.780 And I, and I had a good transformation and I honestly, you had, you had an amazing transformation.
00:24:05.200 Yeah.
00:24:05.880 Uh, but, but I, I finished it and I literally remember waking up day 76, just being extremely
00:24:11.920 afraid.
00:24:12.680 Like I'm going to fucking lose it.
00:24:14.760 And I remember like Lauren was like, Hey, what do you want?
00:24:17.820 Like, do you want to have like a meal or anything?
00:24:19.260 I was like, no, I don't want anything.
00:24:20.920 Like I want to go do my first workout.
00:24:22.320 That's how you know you did it.
00:24:23.080 And I went out and I did, I remember filming like surprise motherfuckers, like workout number
00:24:27.820 one, like, here we go.
00:24:28.840 And, um, I ended up, it was like Christmas time.
00:24:31.600 I think I took like two weeks off and like still did my stuff.
00:24:34.900 But before I jumped into phase one and then I jumped into phase one and honestly, phase
00:24:39.980 one was like another, just like whole new level because where we live, it doesn't get extremely
00:24:44.440 cold, but January and February, which is kind of like where I split phase one, the water
00:24:49.000 was temping out at like 43 degrees from the shower.
00:24:51.240 And I remember waking up every morning with just such anxiety of like, I've got to go get
00:24:55.620 in the shower.
00:24:56.280 And I didn't do like, turn it hot and take a shower.
00:24:58.680 Like I was just more like, let's just make it cold and just, just go head first.
00:25:02.380 And I remember the first time I was like, it feels like I'm getting hit with an aluminum
00:25:05.260 baseball bat.
00:25:05.960 Yeah.
00:25:06.420 Um, and I would make like all these crazy noises and she'd be like, are you all right?
00:25:10.360 Um, and I would do my visualization.
00:25:12.660 Like I would start that process in the shower.
00:25:14.920 Oh bro, you didn't do it.
00:25:16.160 Then you failed.
00:25:17.260 Huh?
00:25:17.460 There's no way you could fucking visualize when you're feeling like that.
00:25:20.020 You just visualize, get the fuck out of the shower.
00:25:21.920 So I would do that.
00:25:23.660 And then, uh, I would do like stretching and stuff and do more visualization.
00:25:26.680 But I remember like being in the shower.
00:25:29.060 I'm teasing.
00:25:29.400 No, I know.
00:25:29.940 I know.
00:25:30.680 Um, I remember being like in the cold showers and like honestly visualizing this moment being
00:25:34.860 like, Hey, like one day I'll get to share this story with you and be on the podcast.
00:25:38.220 But it's crazy.
00:25:39.480 Cause I, I did live hard and through that process, um, I was probably in the middle of phase one.
00:25:45.480 So I'd already completed 75 hard.
00:25:46.960 I was in the middle of phase one.
00:25:48.020 And it's like, I had my, my stuff together.
00:25:49.940 Like I was pretty rock and rolling.
00:25:51.400 And I remember Lauren, who's my wife came home one day.
00:25:54.220 And at the time she was an area director for, um, a home healthcare company.
00:25:58.840 And so she would travel all over the state and, uh, you know, you're going into people's
00:26:02.120 houses.
00:26:02.820 Um, she had her concealed weapons permit.
00:26:04.340 So she would carry with her cause I wanted her to be safe.
00:26:06.820 And she came home one day and she sat me down and she said, Hey, I got to tell you something,
00:26:09.880 but I don't want you to like freak out.
00:26:11.280 Like, I don't want you to check me into a mental hospital or whatever.
00:26:13.900 She's like, I love you.
00:26:14.820 I love our kids.
00:26:15.540 I love our life.
00:26:16.100 She's like, but I'm suicidal.
00:26:17.080 And she's like, I'm really struggling with like intrusive thoughts and like all this
00:26:21.020 stuff.
00:26:21.560 And like, if I hadn't had my shit together, like, I don't know what that conversation
00:26:25.560 would have looked like, but it was, I wouldn't say it was easy for me, but like, I was like,
00:26:29.740 look, I was like, you need to go to the gym.
00:26:32.120 You need to work out.
00:26:33.220 You need to clean up your diet.
00:26:34.500 Like, first of all, give me your gun.
00:26:35.980 Like we're going to put that away.
00:26:37.340 And then we're going to do things together to help you get through this.
00:26:41.160 And so like, just that alone was like a whole life changing moment for us.
00:26:45.300 And that really like helped her get out of a season of like just craziness and darkness.
00:26:50.060 And so we worked through that and then, um, you know, went into phase two and, uh, I know
00:26:56.160 you talk about phase two is always hard cause you have that break and it is, it's like phase
00:26:59.440 two feels like it's a hundred days long.
00:27:01.280 Yeah.
00:27:01.820 Even though it's only 30 and you're like, man, I'm like, I just finished phase one and
00:27:05.100 there were so many extra tasks, but you get into phase two and you're just like, why does
00:27:08.540 this feel like it's just taking for, even though it's the regular 75 hard work days?
00:27:13.580 Yeah.
00:27:13.960 Yeah.
00:27:14.340 You've already done and you've cruised through.
00:27:17.580 Yeah.
00:27:17.900 It is, is wild.
00:27:19.220 And, um, obviously losing 160 pounds, like I had a lot of loose skin.
00:27:23.700 And so it's crazy.
00:27:25.240 I had a consultation for skin removal and when we planned the surgery out, the date that
00:27:30.860 they had available was July 25th.
00:27:33.260 And I did the math for the recovery time and the clearance day was day one of phase three.
00:27:39.760 Oh, and I told my surgeon, I said, look, dude, I need to know, like, is this a hundred percent?
00:27:44.520 Like this is enough time to recover because I can not miss this day.
00:27:49.160 And, uh, it's crazy.
00:27:50.180 I had the skin removal surgery and I can remember like day one of phase three, like I got the
00:27:55.120 clearance to work out and I was just like, all right, let's go.
00:27:57.260 And so we did phase three and, um, and that was a wild experience because it was still like
00:28:01.940 COVID was kind of over, but it wasn't like some people were still wearing masks.
00:28:06.080 And so like, I love talking to people, like never met a stranger.
00:28:08.860 I don't have a problem carrying a conversation, but having a conversation with a stranger when
00:28:12.920 no one wants to talk to you.
00:28:14.320 When everybody's terrified.
00:28:15.360 Dude, it is.
00:28:16.000 And like, I was so, I don't want to be like, I was so next level on everything, but I feel
00:28:20.660 like I was like, I just like, if we had started a conversation and it didn't turn into a
00:28:24.440 conversation, I was like, that doesn't count.
00:28:26.120 But like, I had to like go the extra mile.
00:28:28.160 So like having conversations with people was, she'd be like, what was the hardest for your
00:28:31.760 day?
00:28:31.940 I was like the fucking, the conversation, like it would give me anxiety.
00:28:34.600 So I would try and like knock it out.
00:28:36.060 But all of the things in the entire program, just there's, it's such a genius program.
00:28:41.680 Like it, it literally just changes everything.
00:28:44.300 Um, and the amount of discipline that you, you receive from it is just, it's something
00:28:49.780 like I've never experienced.
00:28:50.900 And like, I tell people now we coach people and I'm like, do 75 hard.
00:28:54.420 Like it'll absolutely change everything that you do.
00:28:57.780 Um, and that kind of led me into bodybuilding and going into bodybuilding prep.
00:29:01.920 And if I would have never done 75 hard, there's no way I would have made it through.
00:29:06.140 Yeah.
00:29:06.340 And you've actually had some really cool accomplishments with that too.
00:29:09.360 Tell us about that.
00:29:10.380 Yeah.
00:29:10.560 So I, uh, I started prepping, um, in 2023, uh, for summer shredding, which is kind of
00:29:17.240 like a new league from now that's, that's, uh, Christian's Christian Guzman.
00:29:21.720 Yeah.
00:29:22.200 So guy that owns Alphalete.
00:29:23.580 So he created summer shredding.
00:29:25.020 And the one thing I love about summer shredding is there's a massive focus on transformation.
00:29:29.820 And that's another thing I love.
00:29:31.600 I like what they're doing with that.
00:29:32.660 Yeah.
00:29:32.900 Cause it's given regular people a chance to compete.
00:29:35.280 I think it's great.
00:29:36.260 And that's what I love about first form and 75 hard is it's not this focus on like the
00:29:40.260 elite athletes, right?
00:29:41.260 It's like the everyday person, an elite athlete, but for sure, but we all start somewhere.
00:29:46.240 Right.
00:29:46.880 And so that's what I love about it is there's a massive focus on transformation of like,
00:29:50.980 Hey, not everyone might aspire to be a bodybuilder, but everyone wants to be the best version
00:29:55.120 of themselves.
00:29:55.500 That's right.
00:29:56.140 And so, uh, they announced that they were doing like a full season.
00:29:59.440 So there are going to be multiple shows in multiple cities.
00:30:01.960 And, um, I decided I was going to prep for a show and then they announced the cities.
00:30:07.000 And so there was one in Tampa, which is like a probably eight hour drive for us.
00:30:10.820 And I was like, you know what?
00:30:11.600 I was already doing a show the week after.
00:30:14.120 So I was like, let's, let's just go to Tampa and see what happens.
00:30:16.680 And, uh, so we went to Tampa and I did my first prep and it was like one of the hardest
00:30:20.940 things I've ever done.
00:30:21.660 And if I hadn't have done 75 hard, there's no shot.
00:30:24.360 I would have made it because 75 hard, while it is very, very difficult, especially for
00:30:28.900 someone who starts out at three 60, um, you can choose your diet, right?
00:30:33.000 So like, you don't have to be in this extreme calorie deficit.
00:30:35.660 Like you could eat at maintenance or you could, you know, eat in a slight deficit.
00:30:39.200 Well, bodybuilding is just a whole different world.
00:30:40.720 Like you're basically starving yourself at some point.
00:30:43.420 And so getting through that, if I hadn't developed mental toughness, there's no shot that it would
00:30:48.640 have happened.
00:30:49.600 Um, but on the way down, Lauren made a joke or a bet.
00:30:53.480 She's like, Hey, if you win, I'll compete the day before the championship, because if
00:30:58.200 you win, you qualify for their championship.
00:31:00.440 And she's like, I'll do bikini.
00:31:02.320 And, uh, so I'm one, I like, I hate losing.
00:31:05.060 So we go down to Tampa and I win and I walk off the stage and I just hand her the trophy.
00:31:09.800 I said, you're up.
00:31:11.140 And, uh, and so we got to prep as a couple, which was a very unique experience with two
00:31:16.580 kids and a business and all that.
00:31:18.760 But that like, that made us closer than we've ever been really like heighten our relationship
00:31:23.700 even more.
00:31:24.160 We've been together for 18 years, been married for almost 12 and, uh, going through that
00:31:28.640 together and like the dark times of like just pushing yourself to do things like, like
00:31:33.180 you say, just do something hard every day.
00:31:34.980 Like, and like doing that together was so cool.
00:31:37.220 And then to go to Houston, um, like we told our kids every single day, like, Hey, mommy
00:31:43.360 and daddy got to go do cardio.
00:31:44.420 Like we have to go do these things, but it's okay.
00:31:46.120 Cause like, I'm going to win.
00:31:47.460 Like, I'm going to bring home the trophy and like, you're good.
00:31:49.960 You're going to stand on stage with me.
00:31:51.500 And so like painting that picture for them was such a cool thing.
00:31:55.220 And, uh, when we were leaving for Texas, I had this moment of like, shit, like, what
00:31:59.420 if I, what if I don't win?
00:32:01.020 Like, I've literally like painted this whole picture of like, Hey, we're going to go and
00:32:04.160 bring the trophy home.
00:32:05.400 And like, you're going to get to stand on stage.
00:32:07.860 And I can remember competing in the championship and I won transformation, which was crazy in
00:32:13.000 itself because it was a lot of really good competition.
00:32:16.340 There was, you know, thousands of people who competed all year.
00:32:19.560 And, uh, so that was like a really cool moment, but then you go into the finals and they're
00:32:23.420 going to crown the overall champion.
00:32:25.080 And so it's, it's me, the guy who won men's physique, the guy who won classic, the guy who
00:32:30.080 won open bodybuilding and the four of us have to go against each other.
00:32:33.260 And I'm like the transformation guy.
00:32:34.740 So I'm like, um, I'm, you know, not the craziest physique, but it's not necessarily all
00:32:38.500 based on physique.
00:32:39.520 You know, it's based on your story, how you can impact the fitness community and all that
00:32:43.080 stuff.
00:32:43.420 And long story short, I ended up winning and my kids were in bodybuilding suits and
00:32:47.660 they like bum rushed the stage.
00:32:49.240 That's awesome.
00:32:49.780 We have these photos of them flexing with me with the trophy and Lauren's on stage.
00:32:53.900 And it's just such a full circle moment of like, they'll remember that forever.
00:32:57.720 No doubt.
00:32:58.300 But it's like, man, three years ago, I was fat as fuck.
00:33:01.160 Yeah.
00:33:01.360 Like I was literally 360 pounds and now I'm like, yeah, you won't even look at yourself
00:33:05.860 in the mirror, bro.
00:33:06.800 Yeah.
00:33:07.540 Now you're winning contests.
00:33:09.340 No doubt.
00:33:09.800 And so it's, it's just been such a wild thing, but it literally started with the decision
00:33:13.780 to do 75 heart.
00:33:14.920 Yeah.
00:33:15.120 And, and that changed everything.
00:33:17.260 Yeah, man.
00:33:17.720 That's fucking awesome, dude.
00:33:19.160 Yeah.
00:33:19.320 That is awesome.
00:33:20.480 So let's talk a little bit about your experience through the program, because like you said,
00:33:27.280 I think it's pretty accurately described in the book.
00:33:29.760 Um, the phases when I first did it the first time, bro, it was, it was fuck like the first
00:33:36.700 25 days were fucking brutal.
00:33:40.560 What was it like for you?
00:33:42.260 Well, I know that it was pure force the first 25 days.
00:33:45.900 Yeah.
00:33:46.260 So, um, I made the mistake of like when I first started my outdoor workouts, I was like, all
00:33:52.380 right, I got to sprint.
00:33:53.200 I got to do like all these crazy things.
00:33:55.260 Yeah.
00:33:55.800 And, uh, it's funny because day one on my outdoor workout, it started raining.
00:34:00.900 And, uh, it's, it's funny how, as you progress, you start to hope for bad weather.
00:34:05.620 Yeah.
00:34:06.060 Cause you're just like, no one's out, no one's going to be out here doing this.
00:34:09.320 And, uh, it empowers you, bro.
00:34:11.020 You're looking around and you're like, who the fuck else is doing this?
00:34:14.360 Yeah.
00:34:14.580 Nobody.
00:34:15.720 Yeah.
00:34:16.020 But I remember on like day six, we were camping and we're at a campground.
00:34:20.240 And so, you know, when you have two kids and a business and a wife, like Lauren was super
00:34:25.260 supportive, but there's also like a lot of sacrifice that goes into that of like, Hey,
00:34:28.800 I got to get two workouts in and now it's the weekend and we're camping.
00:34:31.320 So I remember waking up like extra early cause I wanted to knock out my outdoor workout before
00:34:35.720 they woke up.
00:34:36.740 And I remember I was wearing a weighted vest.
00:34:38.620 It was raining and I was like jogging.
00:34:40.320 And I remember just crying and just being like, why, why am I doing like, this is miserable.
00:34:44.840 Like my feet had blisters.
00:34:46.460 Like I was in so much pain.
00:34:47.920 Cause that, I mean, I was still like 300 and something pounds.
00:34:50.380 So like trying to run with a 40 pound vest on is not, you were just trying to tackle
00:34:55.420 that a little too, too much.
00:34:56.740 Yeah.
00:34:57.160 Well, I, yeah, I went real hard out the gate, but yeah, I just remember like the first,
00:35:02.040 the first 20 days are definitely like brutal.
00:35:04.760 Yeah.
00:35:05.720 Especially when you're pushing yourself.
00:35:07.440 My feet were the worst part.
00:35:08.900 And then, and then because they got so fucked up the first 20 days, they didn't heal.
00:35:13.340 So like for my first 75 hard, and then I skipped one day and I went straight into phase one.
00:35:18.880 So for that whole 106 days, bro, my feet were fucked.
00:35:23.620 No, I believe it.
00:35:24.380 Yeah.
00:35:25.340 They were fucked.
00:35:26.080 That was the hardest part.
00:35:26.940 But then what happened after that, after you got used to it, then you just get better.
00:35:31.360 Yeah.
00:35:31.740 Yeah.
00:35:32.240 No.
00:35:32.540 So, I mean, then it's like you start scaling stuff.
00:35:34.980 You start, I remember, uh, was there a point in time where you were like, Oh,
00:35:38.820 fuck, I can actually do this.
00:35:41.280 Yeah.
00:35:41.680 I think, um, I can't remember what day it was, but I was probably like in the forties.
00:35:46.200 And I remember you guys were doing the Chad 1000 at HQ and I hadn't done my outdoor workout
00:35:53.500 yet.
00:35:53.840 And I was like, I'm going to do it.
00:35:55.620 And so I pulled, we had a box at the office.
00:35:57.540 I pulled it out back.
00:35:58.360 I put on my weighted vest and it took me like two hours and 15 minutes to complete a thousand
00:36:03.040 weighted step ups.
00:36:04.000 And it was probably the worst thing I've ever done.
00:36:06.240 But I remember finishing it and just being like, Holy fuck.
00:36:08.580 Like I did that.
00:36:09.340 Like, I just, like I did it and I didn't die.
00:36:11.880 Yeah.
00:36:12.520 Um, and so, yeah.
00:36:14.260 And now you have the confidence that bro, if you had to do anything, really, you could
00:36:18.200 do it.
00:36:18.600 Yeah.
00:36:19.100 That's what Goggins talks about a lot.
00:36:20.560 You know, put, you read Goggins books.
00:36:21.940 Yeah.
00:36:22.260 Yeah, bro.
00:36:22.720 He's such a fucking.
00:36:23.380 Can't, can't hurt me was a book number two.
00:36:25.520 And that was, that wrecked me because it's like his childhood.
00:36:28.240 Yeah.
00:36:28.620 That reading that.
00:36:29.580 And I read iron cowboy, um, both of those in 75 hard.
00:36:33.060 And it's just like, it makes 75 hard laughable.
00:36:35.420 You're just like, yeah, I'm, I'm complaining about sore feet and you got James Lawrence
00:36:40.180 running 50 iron men.
00:36:41.580 Yeah.
00:36:41.780 But bro, remember like before that, like dude, it would be, look, I would look for any excuse
00:36:49.740 to justify me not doing what I was supposed to do, whether it be the food, whether it
00:36:54.820 be the workouts, bro, if it were raining, I was like, ah, it's, it's raining.
00:37:00.280 I'm not, it looks like I, you know, I do it tomorrow.
00:37:03.060 No big deal.
00:37:03.480 Every time now, both of us are to the point where like, all right, it's fucking hailing.
00:37:08.820 Let's do it.
00:37:09.620 Yeah.
00:37:10.080 You know, like that's quite the change.
00:37:12.660 You know what I'm saying?
00:37:13.300 And because like Goggins talks about, you know, we put that in our memory bank, he calls it
00:37:19.100 the cookie jar, but we put that in the cookie jar for the things that we've already accomplished.
00:37:25.040 And then when things get tough again, we get to say, ah, this is the same shit.
00:37:28.940 I already did this and this and this, you know, like it, there's a lot of value.
00:37:33.480 To, to doing hard things because life never gets easier.
00:37:38.600 Life never, life never relents and never slows down.
00:37:42.400 And there's going to be times, no matter how much work we put in, no matter how much we
00:37:47.900 accomplish, that's difficult, that things are going to feel hard again.
00:37:51.240 And we have to have those things that we can look back on and say, damn, no, we did that.
00:37:56.460 We did this.
00:37:57.260 We did that.
00:37:57.840 We got this.
00:37:58.660 And that's a huge deal for people because dude, a lot of people, quite honestly, they
00:38:03.960 just haven't done anything hard.
00:38:05.480 You know, their life has been soft.
00:38:07.080 They've been, you know, they've had hard situations like meaning like, you know, maybe
00:38:11.000 with their finances or someone dying or things like that.
00:38:14.700 But, but I'm talking about like intentionally sticking hard things out and beating that voice
00:38:23.320 in our head that I call the bitch voice, which is the voice that talks to us and tells us
00:38:29.120 exactly what we want to hear that gets us to not do the thing that we know we're supposed
00:38:35.740 to do.
00:38:36.560 And that voice, especially when you're in sales, like you have been and I have been,
00:38:42.120 is very, very good at selling ourselves.
00:38:44.580 You know what I mean?
00:38:45.100 Nobody could sell me on bullshit like me.
00:38:47.060 Yeah.
00:38:47.320 And that goes for all of us.
00:38:48.500 If you're out there sitting, you're probably not in your head.
00:38:52.060 Nobody can justify you not doing what you're supposed to do like you.
00:38:57.980 You know exactly what to say.
00:38:59.920 You know exactly what works.
00:39:02.080 And this whole program is about silencing that and empowering the other voice that we
00:39:08.140 all have, which is the one that told you, Hey bro, you're fucking fat.
00:39:12.820 It's time to fucking do something.
00:39:14.300 And that voice, when we're in a state where our bitch voice dominates the conversation only
00:39:20.080 comes around very infrequently.
00:39:22.320 And when it does, it's usually very quiet, but once in a while it'll speak real
00:39:27.880 loud and this, this whole program's about raising the volume of that voice to the point
00:39:34.320 where it's the only one we can hear.
00:39:36.300 And that's one of the things that's done for me, you know, living the live hard lifestyle.
00:39:42.040 We talked about this in the gym a little bit.
00:39:43.960 It's completely changed my entire life.
00:39:47.700 And you know, people say it's not sustainable.
00:39:50.540 No, it is sustainable.
00:39:52.140 It's designed to be sustainable because it's designed to be completed once per year.
00:39:57.020 You dedicate less than 50% of your year to going as hard as possible.
00:40:02.820 And the rest of the year you get to live your life comfortable with yourself, confident
00:40:09.320 with yourself, productive, fit, feeling good, having the ability to push through the hard
00:40:16.580 things.
00:40:16.940 It's a good trade.
00:40:18.060 And just like taking a shower every day, discipline is a, is a skill that washes off.
00:40:24.440 If we don't exercise it, it's a perishable skill.
00:40:27.300 It's like playing the guitar.
00:40:28.860 It's like shooting a pistol.
00:40:30.660 If we don't do that consistently, we lose the ability to do it.
00:40:35.500 And you know, the, the living that lifestyle, dude, I mean, it's been eight years now and
00:40:42.700 I haven't, I haven't put the weight back on, you know, in fact, I've continued to get better
00:40:46.800 and better and better and mentally better and better and better and sharper.
00:40:50.420 Um, I'm curious to hear how this, if at all affected the way you guys are doing business.
00:40:59.860 I mean, it definitely changed business because one, I think being in a health fitness industry,
00:41:06.280 like doing meal prep, um, everyone's watching you, whether you think they are not, especially
00:41:11.860 when you're trying to help other people get in shape.
00:41:14.160 I think me being the ultimate billboard for what our company did, because through 75 hard,
00:41:19.340 my diet was like, Hey, I ate our food because I wanted to show that like it worked.
00:41:23.440 It was healthy food.
00:41:24.720 Um, and so having that, but then also having the confidence.
00:41:28.780 And I like to tell this to people all the time.
00:41:31.600 Confidence doesn't come from getting to the end result.
00:41:34.220 Confidence comes from keeping the promises that you say you're going to do.
00:41:37.040 And even when I was still on my journey, which I'm still on a journey, I'm still trying to
00:41:41.640 get better every day.
00:41:42.340 But even as I was losing weight and I was still severely overweight, my confidence went
00:41:47.000 through the roof because guess what?
00:41:48.380 Today I was perfect.
00:41:49.480 And I woke up tomorrow and I was going to be perfect again.
00:41:51.880 And so I could confidently go out there and tell you like, Hey, I can help you because
00:41:56.220 I know what to do.
00:41:57.560 And I might not have the results that I want yet, but I know I'm going to get there.
00:42:01.740 Um, and so like it, I would say it changed a lot about our business.
00:42:05.260 I would say it helped grow tremendously.
00:42:08.120 Um, and it made me a lot better as a business partner, um, as a husband.
00:42:12.820 Like I just became way more efficient because you realize how much time you waste, how much
00:42:16.940 you procrastinate things, how much time you just spend on your phone.
00:42:20.440 Like, and then all of a sudden you do 75 hard, you do live hard.
00:42:23.800 And you're like, how did I get all that done?
00:42:25.580 And I got my work done and I still have time to do what you were doing.
00:42:29.280 Yeah.
00:42:29.680 Yeah.
00:42:30.200 So it's, it, dude, that's one of the things that's really like a, uh, a paradox for
00:42:34.940 people.
00:42:35.260 They look at it and they're like, I don't have the time for this.
00:42:37.540 You get 30 days in and you're like, Whoa, I didn't realize I had this much time.
00:42:42.600 And then the other thing that happened to me, dude, was I got very intolerant of people
00:42:47.200 wasting my time.
00:42:48.500 Yeah.
00:42:48.820 I fucking couldn't stay.
00:42:50.080 I still can't stand that, you know, dumb conversations, small talk, just things that
00:42:55.300 were, you know, fucking useless in my life.
00:42:59.180 I cut them all out.
00:43:00.240 Yeah.
00:43:00.720 I have a guy that I'm coaching right now and he's on day 58.
00:43:06.020 He's in the dog days.
00:43:07.220 And, uh, and the other day he texts me, he's like, man, I don't know what's going on, but
00:43:10.520 like, I'm real irritable.
00:43:11.600 Like everyone's pissing me off.
00:43:12.960 Like, this is all happened.
00:43:13.740 I was like, bro, I was like, let me call you real fast.
00:43:15.680 I was like, let me tell you what's happening.
00:43:17.000 You are leveling up and people around you are not.
00:43:19.500 And it is wrecking you.
00:43:20.840 Yeah.
00:43:21.120 And, and so we just like walk through and he's like, that's exactly how I feel.
00:43:24.100 And I was like, yeah, because every day you're getting better and the people you're wondering
00:43:28.160 why people around you aren't getting any better.
00:43:30.180 Yeah.
00:43:30.640 So yeah, I definitely, yeah.
00:43:31.660 You start to, and this is going to sound fucked up to people, but it's the truth.
00:43:35.480 You start to look around and you're like, dude, you're a fuck, you're pathetic, bro.
00:43:39.240 Like you're not even fucking trying like you're, you're, and then it's not because you despise
00:43:44.460 them or anything.
00:43:44.900 It's because you fucking care about them.
00:43:46.400 You're like, brother, you are wasting your fucking life.
00:43:49.560 And it, and it's like, it's, and once you start to get in that zone, especially when you
00:43:53.180 get in the rhythm, you know, 30, 40, you know, 50, you get in those fifties, it gets a little
00:43:58.000 tough, but, uh, only because it's so monotonous.
00:44:01.240 Yeah.
00:44:01.460 You know what I mean?
00:44:02.520 Um, but you start looking at people, you're like, fuck dude, this isn't that hard.
00:44:06.020 And you could totally change your life, but you're just choosing the coast and it gets
00:44:11.880 annoying, dude.
00:44:12.740 Yeah.
00:44:13.340 Well, it's hard for me to be around people that aren't trying to get better now.
00:44:16.300 Like it's like real talk.
00:44:18.720 I, and it sounds elitist.
00:44:21.560 It sounds messed up, but I don't care if you're 500 pounds, bro.
00:44:24.820 I don't care if you're 800 pounds.
00:44:26.080 I don't give a fuck.
00:44:27.040 But if you got rubber bands and you're fucking doing the arms and you're making an effort,
00:44:31.360 I respect that.
00:44:32.500 Yeah.
00:44:32.760 You know, I don't, I don't care what someone's physique is as long as they're fucking after
00:44:38.540 it, bro.
00:44:39.300 You know what I mean?
00:44:40.160 Well, it's like you have empathy because you've been there, but then you also know like, well,
00:44:43.700 you have the ability to change and I think that's the biggest thing is like being overweight
00:44:47.520 my whole life.
00:44:48.340 Like it was just all excuses.
00:44:49.920 Yeah.
00:44:50.420 And, and like you said with like, wow, I can't believe this beer has that much control over
00:44:54.580 me.
00:44:54.700 It's like, how dumb do you feel that the food has that much control?
00:44:58.860 Yeah.
00:44:59.100 Like you're like a baby, bro.
00:45:00.700 It's like a baby.
00:45:01.440 You can't control what goes in your mouth.
00:45:04.520 Yeah.
00:45:04.700 That means you are a fucking baby.
00:45:06.560 Like really think about that.
00:45:08.160 If you lack the control to not do something, meaning this is how easy it is and also how
00:45:16.280 hard it is.
00:45:18.100 All I have to do is not put that shit in my mouth.
00:45:20.960 That's all I have to do.
00:45:22.220 And I couldn't do that.
00:45:23.720 And because I couldn't do that, it was wrecking my life.
00:45:26.560 I was 350 pounds.
00:45:28.560 I was fucking miserable.
00:45:29.940 I wouldn't look at myself in the mirror.
00:45:31.640 I was embarrassed.
00:45:32.720 I wore the same outfit every day.
00:45:34.580 I wouldn't go to pool parties.
00:45:35.900 I wouldn't go to the beach.
00:45:36.920 I didn't like getting dressed up because my suits never fit.
00:45:40.200 All I wanted to do was stay home and wear workout clothes and fucking basically avoid
00:45:46.800 everything other than what I had to do at work.
00:45:49.320 And dude, now I'm the complete opposite.
00:45:52.820 Now I do stay home still, but I feel proud.
00:45:56.480 When I walk in a room now, I feel proud.
00:45:58.600 When I, when I, but the problem, the problem for me that I struggle with brother is like,
00:46:03.440 and you might struggle with this with coaching, but I definitely do.
00:46:06.920 It's like the, the fucking solution.
00:46:09.380 The reason diet culture is so fucked up is because it does not address the core problem.
00:46:14.480 The core problem is that you do not have the discipline to adhere to the program.
00:46:21.900 Meaning you know what you have to do, but because you know, and dude, people will, I did this
00:46:28.660 and you probably did this too.
00:46:29.800 I tried keto.
00:46:31.000 I tried this.
00:46:32.260 I tried that.
00:46:33.440 I tried cycling my carbs.
00:46:35.200 I tried this.
00:46:36.320 I tried doing this thing.
00:46:37.720 I tried fucking all this over here.
00:46:39.760 I tried everything looking for the solution, not realizing that the solution was the way
00:46:45.260 that my mental was framed.
00:46:46.800 Like, bro, this is not a physical thing.
00:46:49.260 This is a mental thing.
00:46:50.660 And when you fix the mental thing, the physical thing automatically comes around.
00:46:55.420 And when I had that realization, dude, it fucking changed everything for me because I do have
00:47:01.200 an ego about being weak.
00:47:02.520 I don't want to be weak.
00:47:03.780 You know, even when I was fat, I was strong as fuck.
00:47:06.400 And I always justified my identity.
00:47:08.180 I'm like, yeah, I'm fat, but I can lift more than all five of those guys put together.
00:47:13.020 Right.
00:47:13.680 So that was my way to justify it.
00:47:16.100 But dude, that wasn't real shit.
00:47:17.320 That was fake shit.
00:47:18.160 You know what I'm saying?
00:47:18.740 And if I could, I just wish like, if I could like grab someone by the ears, you know, like
00:47:24.120 when you really got to tell someone, like when we play football, you know, your coach
00:47:27.860 will grab you by the ear holes and fucking look you in the face.
00:47:31.500 And if I could just do that to people and be like, bro, the problem is that you cannot
00:47:37.620 adhere.
00:47:38.520 Let us fix that problem.
00:47:40.420 Let us fix your discipline.
00:47:42.160 And when we fix your discipline and it's going to be have to fix by grit and force and fortitude,
00:47:47.880 you are going to have to grind it out.
00:47:49.840 You are going to have to push through it and you're going to have to force yourself into
00:47:53.340 this place of momentum.
00:47:54.680 But if we can fix this, it will fix fucking everything in your life.
00:48:00.800 And if I could just like grab everybody listening to this and like grab them by the ears and like,
00:48:06.220 that's what I want to do.
00:48:07.440 You know what I'm saying?
00:48:08.040 Like, it's like, fuck, this is so simple to fix, bro.
00:48:11.700 Yes, it's hard.
00:48:12.560 Yes, it takes effort, but it will change your fucking existence.
00:48:16.820 In every single area, man.
00:48:19.400 And like, I feel so proud for all the people that live that life.
00:48:23.080 It's so cool.
00:48:24.360 But dude, this like legit, like I'm not saying it's the cure for everything, but fuck, dude.
00:48:31.160 It fixes a lot of shit.
00:48:33.180 Like we were talking the other day and I was like, hey, if everybody did 75 hard, the world
00:48:37.160 would be a better place.
00:48:37.960 That's what I'm saying, bro.
00:48:38.940 No doubt.
00:48:39.660 That's what I'm saying.
00:48:40.600 Like, think about phase three.
00:48:41.820 Think if people went through phase three and they got comfortable.
00:48:45.240 Random act of kindness.
00:48:45.600 Yes.
00:48:46.120 Doing the random act of kindness, doing the talking to the strangers, being more nice,
00:48:50.520 being more kind, being more social, like being confident in themselves, not taking things
00:48:55.920 so personally, being empathetic, pulling people up, helping people out, pushing people to be
00:49:01.780 better.
00:49:02.080 What if we lived in an entire world like that?
00:49:05.060 I mean, that's dude, that's my hope.
00:49:06.540 That's what I want to create.
00:49:07.520 And I know that's a huge undertaking, but we got a pretty good start.
00:49:12.660 You know what I'm saying?
00:49:13.280 Everybody's start.
00:49:14.040 Yeah.
00:49:14.200 Everybody's paddling.
00:49:15.200 It's nice.
00:49:16.160 And I think too many people are like one, they're looking for the quick fix, right?
00:49:19.800 They always want what's the cheat code?
00:49:21.680 You know, how do you stay motivated?
00:49:22.920 And I think the other thing that I really learned through this process is that whatever
00:49:27.600 it is, whether it's relationship, whether it's business, whether it's fitness, whether
00:49:31.160 it's health, like you have to stop living your life with this finite destination.
00:49:36.180 Like there is no destination.
00:49:37.680 It's infinite.
00:49:38.620 The only way to win in any of those things is to continue playing the game.
00:49:42.940 That's right.
00:49:43.260 You want to be successful in business?
00:49:44.420 Just stay in the game.
00:49:45.500 You want to have a great marriage?
00:49:46.720 Just stay in the game.
00:49:47.840 You want to be physically fit?
00:49:49.240 Just keep doing it every single day.
00:49:51.160 And that's what people don't.
00:49:51.780 And keep winning those days.
00:49:52.680 Yeah.
00:49:53.200 Every day, bro.
00:49:54.120 Like, dude, if people would just like shrink down their life to today.
00:49:58.220 One day.
00:49:58.800 Like, okay, your whole life today.
00:50:01.500 Can you win one day?
00:50:03.300 Can you?
00:50:03.700 Well, can you win a day?
00:50:05.100 Oh, yeah.
00:50:05.480 Can you guys win a day?
00:50:07.520 Can you win a day?
00:50:09.080 Everybody listening.
00:50:10.720 Can you win a day?
00:50:12.100 Every single one of you motherfuckers is capable of winning a single day.
00:50:15.900 If you can win a single day, dude, you can win your entire life.
00:50:20.280 100%.
00:50:20.640 Dude, everybody has the capability to do it because all you have to do is wake up tomorrow and win the day.
00:50:26.220 It's very simple.
00:50:27.400 And because people see it as this huge thing, time sneaks up on them.
00:50:33.000 And before they know it, they don't have any left.
00:50:34.660 Yeah.
00:50:35.000 You know what I mean?
00:50:35.940 It's every day.
00:50:37.360 Ed Milet talks about it with his dad.
00:50:39.280 You know, like he used to ask his dad, like, hey, are you going to stay sober?
00:50:42.340 And he's like, I don't know, but I'm going to stay sober today.
00:50:44.240 Yeah.
00:50:44.580 And it's like, if you just live that life, because a year is going to go by so fast.
00:50:48.320 Yeah.
00:50:48.540 And yeah, when you're 360, it's like eating an elephant, right?
00:50:52.000 There's so much to that journey.
00:50:53.760 And even I look back on the last three years and I'm like, holy shit, like, I can't believe, like, I've been through three skin removal surgeries.
00:50:59.600 Like, I've done 75 hard.
00:51:01.060 I've done live hard.
00:51:01.620 I've competed in three bodybuilding shows.
00:51:03.360 But it's like, the time went by no matter what.
00:51:06.200 That's right.
00:51:06.620 Like, it was going to happen.
00:51:07.940 I could have just stayed fat for the last three years.
00:51:10.120 The time is going to go by no matter what.
00:51:13.100 And if you just focus on today, who you will be 75 days from now, a year from now, three years from now, will be the motherfucker you want to be.
00:51:24.020 You will be that.
00:51:25.240 And I've never met.
00:51:25.720 And it goes by quick, doesn't it?
00:51:27.320 So, like, three years went by like that.
00:51:29.400 Yeah.
00:51:30.060 And I've never met anybody that did 75 hard the correct way.
00:51:33.440 Yeah.
00:51:33.680 That didn't completely change their life.
00:51:35.440 Yeah.
00:51:35.700 Dude, I haven't either.
00:51:37.040 I haven't.
00:51:37.440 Because it's impossible.
00:51:38.720 It's impossible to do it the right way and then look at it and say, oh, that didn't work.
00:51:43.240 Yeah.
00:51:43.560 That's fucking bullshit.
00:51:45.040 Okay?
00:51:45.320 If you do it the right way, it will change everything because it changes that one thing.
00:51:50.500 It changes your ability to say, I'm in control of that beer.
00:51:55.020 Fuck that beer.
00:51:56.060 I'm in control of that pizza.
00:51:57.900 Fuck that pizza.
00:51:59.280 I'm getting up and working out because I'm a fucking killer.
00:52:03.540 So what?
00:52:04.260 It's raining.
00:52:04.860 I don't give a shit.
00:52:05.800 So what?
00:52:06.120 It's snowing.
00:52:06.620 I don't give a shit.
00:52:07.340 Other people might give a shit, but I don't.
00:52:09.480 And it raises our personal standard for ourselves and gives us the skills and the confidence
00:52:14.880 and the ability to do anything.
00:52:18.480 Think if you had the ability.
00:52:20.300 Like, think about this, bro.
00:52:22.020 Think you're 36.
00:52:25.420 Think when you were 20 years old.
00:52:27.400 Okay?
00:52:27.640 Now, if I could take you at 20 years old and I could install inside of you, and for any
00:52:34.560 of you listening, this is you too.
00:52:36.680 At 20 years old, I could install inside of you the ability to do everything that you've
00:52:44.280 said you were going to do from the time you were 20 to now.
00:52:48.220 And you were able to actually do it.
00:52:50.580 You had the ability to follow through and do the thing.
00:52:54.980 What would your life look like today?
00:52:57.380 I'd probably have your garage.
00:52:58.660 That's what I'm saying.
00:52:59.720 No, that's what I'm saying.
00:53:00.620 No, dude, it doesn't even take that long if that's how you live.
00:53:03.380 Yeah.
00:53:03.620 Fuck, I didn't start living that way until I was like 36, dude, until I was your age.
00:53:07.300 There's hope.
00:53:08.060 Dude, 100% there is.
00:53:09.460 You're going to blow the fuck up, dude.
00:53:11.340 But the point is, is that if we're honest with ourselves and we're honest about why we aren't
00:53:16.960 where we want to be, it's because we lack that ability.
00:53:19.620 We lack the ability to follow through on what the fuck we say we're going to do.
00:53:23.200 And if we can fix that, we fix anything.
00:53:25.320 Yeah.
00:53:25.780 No, I mean, we see it with clients all the time.
00:53:27.700 It's just like, and now that we have several clients in 75 hard that are like past day 40,
00:53:33.500 the mental change is like insanity.
00:53:37.200 Dude, it's crazy how much happier people get too.
00:53:39.420 They get happier.
00:53:40.380 Like you can just see the confidence level.
00:53:42.340 Like just, they're not where they want to be yet, but like they exude so much energy and
00:53:47.180 confidence and then like, they're just putting so much positivity into them.
00:53:51.100 And we talked about this too.
00:53:53.020 Like, uh, I'm not hating on therapy because I think therapy is probably great for certain
00:53:56.920 people, but there's a certain point where like, all you're doing is just stewing the
00:54:00.820 negativity.
00:54:01.320 Like if you would just put more positivity in your life and take action on it and stop
00:54:06.540 worrying about like, Oh, my situation sucks.
00:54:09.160 You probably would have a different situation.
00:54:10.600 For sure.
00:54:10.960 Dude, listen, therapy in certain situations, a hundred percent necessary.
00:54:15.080 The way that it is in today's culture, it's way overblown and it's toxic and it's predatory
00:54:21.860 because therapists keep people in this place of trying to focus on their problems 100% of
00:54:28.020 the time to where it becomes people's identity.
00:54:31.140 Their identity becomes healing and they never actually get to the place where they feel good.
00:54:36.300 They're constantly consumed with anxiety.
00:54:38.280 They're constantly consumed with depression.
00:54:40.360 They're constantly consumed with I'm not good enough.
00:54:43.140 And guess what?
00:54:44.200 If you just sit at home all day trying to fix all these problems that you have mentally
00:54:49.680 and talking to your therapist all day, and that's all you spend your energy on, bro, you
00:54:54.280 ain't getting any better.
00:54:55.200 You're going to stay in this negative mindset forever.
00:54:58.460 And they never progress onto getting on with their lives because their identity becomes victim.
00:55:05.300 I have this, I have that, I have this, I have that, I have this problem.
00:55:08.780 And when you start telling yourselves you are these things and you have these things, guess
00:55:12.860 what happens?
00:55:13.680 You do have them and you can't get rid of them.
00:55:16.260 And so we have to, at some point say, I got to go, I got to go do these things.
00:55:21.460 I got to rebuild my mindset.
00:55:22.940 I've got to not be a victim.
00:55:24.220 I've got to say, you know what?
00:55:25.200 I've dealt with these things.
00:55:26.100 They've been hard.
00:55:26.940 They've been difficult, but you know what?
00:55:29.040 That's life.
00:55:29.600 And instead of me dwelling on them, what did I learn?
00:55:31.820 Oh, I learned this and this and this.
00:55:33.280 I learned that and that and that.
00:55:34.760 And I could use that moving forward.
00:55:36.180 And dude, I have, I, I have very strong opinions that aren't very positive about the therapy
00:55:42.920 industry.
00:55:44.120 Um, not just from my own experience, but from hundreds and hundreds, probably thousands
00:55:50.200 of people sharing that experience with me.
00:55:52.440 Uh, and I think if, if you are someone who's been doing this for years and years and years
00:55:56.800 and you've made it your identity, you need to really think about this because the more
00:56:00.760 you focus on your problems, the bigger they fucking get.
00:56:03.460 They don't get better.
00:56:04.340 They get bigger.
00:56:05.760 Yeah.
00:56:06.860 Should probably just do 75 hard.
00:56:08.480 Yeah.
00:56:08.800 Well, I mean, that's a good start.
00:56:10.240 I mean, if you're, if you're going to therapy and they don't talk to you about building up
00:56:14.100 your mindset, uh, fixing problems through activity, discipline, and all these things.
00:56:19.800 And they just tell you to take it easy, take a break, bro.
00:56:22.760 Listen, the problem is you've been taking a fucking break your whole life.
00:56:25.940 That's really the problem.
00:56:27.280 So if you're, if you don't, if you don't have someone that's instructing you on how to improve
00:56:32.140 your own life in your own way and they're just telling you, you need to get on these
00:56:37.600 drugs or you need to, you know, get in this group and fucking share your feelings all day,
00:56:42.220 bro.
00:56:42.360 That's not making you better, bro.
00:56:43.940 It's not, you're going to have to make you better.
00:56:45.800 It's all in our control.
00:56:47.440 Yeah.
00:56:47.800 And I remember too, like even in 75 hard, people would say like, man, isn't like, don't
00:56:52.320 you just like want to like have a cheat meal or do this or do that?
00:56:55.400 And I was like, I've literally did that for 33 years, like literally every day, never
00:56:59.380 did anything hard.
00:57:00.220 So like, no, I just want to do the hard stuff.
00:57:03.280 Yeah.
00:57:03.660 And one thing I don't talk about enough, and this was even before 75 hard, but I went through
00:57:08.240 like this, a really, like, it wasn't a super long battle of anxiety, but I had some like
00:57:12.840 really crazy crippling anxiety.
00:57:14.700 And I used to always be the guy that's like, Oh, anxiety is not really real.
00:57:17.420 Like you can just get it together.
00:57:18.820 But I went through this spout when I was having all these health problems that like, I couldn't
00:57:23.120 get out of bed, like Lauren would have to drive me to work.
00:57:25.920 And what fixed that was taking action and working out.
00:57:29.300 And like, I would start in the morning, I would wake up, I'd get on the spin bike and
00:57:32.600 I would just like move my body.
00:57:33.940 Yeah.
00:57:34.080 And once I started doing that, it allowed me to calm myself down because I was like,
00:57:37.740 all right, you're in control.
00:57:39.260 You can get in shape, you can get healthy.
00:57:41.600 And then, you know, putting that into 75 hard and the momentum, that was where everything
00:57:46.280 changed.
00:57:46.620 So I would say, I'm not an expert, but like, if you're struggling with anxiety, like take action,
00:57:51.260 move your body.
00:57:52.060 Action cures anxiety.
00:57:52.880 Yeah, a hundred percent.
00:57:54.440 And I also think, you know, dude, I've struggled with that too, um, with anxiety and you know,
00:57:59.420 you know, what made it really bad was that I got like this here, here's what started happening.
00:58:04.120 I, I never had a problem with it.
00:58:05.900 Fucking ever.
00:58:06.740 I started reading all this shit on the internet, you know, like from all these fucking therapy
00:58:11.400 victim shit, this mental health shit.
00:58:14.140 It's way overblown, bro.
00:58:15.360 You want to fix your mental health, develop some fucking discipline, develop some confidence,
00:58:19.260 some belief in yourself.
00:58:20.340 And the only way to do that is by doing some shit.
00:58:23.880 But I used to read all this stuff and I'm like, fuck, I've never had anxiety.
00:58:26.920 What the fuck?
00:58:27.940 And then I started like noticing when I did have it.
00:58:30.720 And I'm like, fuck, there's that anxiety everybody's talking about.
00:58:34.260 And then I started like, it started getting worse because I was noticing it.
00:58:38.800 And then all of a sudden it like became this all encompassing thing where it was like legit
00:58:43.340 crippling.
00:58:45.020 Like you're talking about where I was actually having like physical symptoms.
00:58:48.340 Like my legs would shake.
00:58:50.220 I got, and I'm like, what the fuck dude?
00:58:51.960 Like I'm a fucking killer.
00:58:53.980 What is fucking going on?
00:58:55.280 And what was going on and the way I fixed it, dude, was that I was focusing on the anxiety
00:59:02.180 and then thinking that I could get to a point where I had zero.
00:59:06.640 So what would happen is I would start the day, everything would be good.
00:59:11.900 And then something would happen.
00:59:13.120 My anxiety would go up.
00:59:14.420 And then I was, I would get like super anxious because I'm like, fuck, I can't get even,
00:59:18.820 I can't even get through a single day without anxiety.
00:59:21.100 Like, this is crazy.
00:59:22.140 Like what the fuck's going on?
00:59:22.960 And I would get pissed.
00:59:23.840 And then it would like make it 10 times worse.
00:59:27.060 And dude, I see this with a lot of people.
00:59:28.900 They think they can eliminate anxiety from their life completely.
00:59:32.980 And then anytime, and this comes from what we were talking about a minute ago, they're
00:59:36.420 focused on it so hard that anytime they feel it, it now it starts to become a real
00:59:41.680 thing because they're expecting that they can get through without any of it.
00:59:45.320 And what you have to understand is these feelings of being down and these feelings of being
00:59:48.860 anxious, those are natural part of the human experience.
00:59:51.880 And they are trying to tell you something.
00:59:53.620 They are not trying to, you know, this isn't here to cripple you.
00:59:57.920 This is here to signal you into some sort of action.
01:00:01.300 And when we refuse to take action, guess what happens?
01:00:04.840 The signals get stronger and they get stronger and they get stronger.
01:00:08.180 And inherently, you know what the action that you need to take is.
01:00:12.060 You're just denying the reality.
01:00:14.100 And it's no different than the people we talked about who go to the success seminars and who
01:00:18.520 buy the programs and who listen to the podcasts and who read the books, who never take action.
01:00:25.000 Right?
01:00:25.460 So if we want to fix that problem, we have to stop focusing on it first off and then change
01:00:31.080 our focus from here on the anxiety, the depression, the negative feelings to here.
01:00:36.540 What is my purpose?
01:00:38.040 What am I trying to accomplish?
01:00:39.640 Where am I going?
01:00:41.080 And dude, when I started to fix, when I started to get back to that, bro, the shit went away.
01:00:46.300 You know what I'm saying?
01:00:47.260 So I think there's a lot to that.
01:00:49.160 We cannot focus on our problems.
01:00:50.820 The more we focus on our problems, the bigger they get.
01:00:53.280 And there's just a lot of therapists out there that make people focus on their problems
01:00:56.920 all fucking day long.
01:00:58.360 And people aren't mentally aware enough to escape that cycle.
01:01:01.880 And then they're making money on it.
01:01:03.520 Right?
01:01:03.820 That's how they make their money.
01:01:04.780 So to me, it's predatory, but I know everybody has their own opinions and I know there's
01:01:09.660 situations where it's necessary, but that's something I've observed.
01:01:14.760 Yeah.
01:01:15.060 Well, I think it comes down to like with 75 hard and what you talk about, like winning
01:01:18.500 every day.
01:01:19.300 Yeah.
01:01:19.660 And I think Alex Hermosey talks about it.
01:01:21.800 It's like anxiety typically comes from either focusing on the past or focusing on the future.
01:01:25.400 If you'll just stay in the present and win the day, typically you won't have any anxiety.
01:01:29.760 That's true.
01:01:30.600 Alex fucking smart motherfucker, dude.
01:01:32.100 One of my best friends, fucking awesome dude.
01:01:36.700 So dude, before we wrap this up, I mean, if you were, you know, we're talking to quite
01:01:43.320 a few people here.
01:01:44.780 If you were one of these people out here who's feeling lost, who's feeling confused, who's
01:01:50.980 anxious, who's not feeling good mentally, who's not happy with who they are physically,
01:01:55.860 who's not confident in themselves.
01:01:59.160 I know you're going to say do 75 hard, but what else would you say to him?
01:02:04.420 Well, one, if you're listening to this and you are that person, I would say do 75 hard,
01:02:08.580 but I'd say start right now.
01:02:09.940 Like wrap this podcast up and like go to episode 208 and listen to the requirements because
01:02:18.440 it's good to know before you start or why you're starting.
01:02:20.960 But like take immediate action.
01:02:22.700 I think that's what I always did.
01:02:24.160 And we talked about it earlier in the show is like, I'll do it Monday.
01:02:26.820 I'll do it.
01:02:27.360 You know, I keep pushing things off.
01:02:29.200 And I think that the only way to take control is to do it now and stop making the excuse.
01:02:34.240 There's never a perfect time for anything.
01:02:35.940 Like life is going to be hard no matter what season you're in, no matter if you're married,
01:02:40.220 if you have kids, if you own a business, if you have a job, like I don't care what you're
01:02:43.140 doing.
01:02:43.440 Like everyone's got their own hard version of their life.
01:02:46.580 It's never going to get better until you take action.
01:02:49.260 So I would say like take immediate action and then don't give yourself a plan B.
01:02:54.480 Like burn the boat.
01:02:55.680 I'm doing this no matter what.
01:02:57.080 Like you have to do this or you die.
01:02:58.640 Yeah.
01:02:59.080 And that's where I got to.
01:03:00.160 It was like you fat fuck.
01:03:01.600 You're going to die if you don't change your life.
01:03:03.840 And it's like, you know, burn the ship.
01:03:05.960 Stop giving.
01:03:06.800 Like I used to always give myself an out.
01:03:09.020 Like stop giving yourself a plan B.
01:03:11.720 Yeah.
01:03:11.920 It take it.
01:03:12.720 And with 75 hard, you have to hit it that way.
01:03:15.040 Like if you hit it like, oh, I'll just try it out.
01:03:17.540 You ain't making it, bro.
01:03:18.860 No.
01:03:19.220 Zero percent.
01:03:19.820 Stop looking at it as a challenge.
01:03:21.060 Yeah.
01:03:21.240 It's not a fucking challenge.
01:03:22.440 Stop focusing on.
01:03:23.940 I want to get this result out of it and just let the program do what the program does.
01:03:27.820 And that is it rebuilds your mind.
01:03:29.900 Yeah.
01:03:30.020 And it like, yes, if you do it correctly, you will have a physical change.
01:03:34.600 But like I would challenge like I don't care if you're like the most ripped in shape person.
01:03:40.480 If you've never done 75 hard, I think it will change your life if you do it properly.
01:03:43.480 Absolutely.
01:03:43.780 Because it has nothing to do with the physical outcome.
01:03:45.920 It has everything to do with the mentality.
01:03:47.840 Yeah.
01:03:48.060 I think that's the biggest.
01:03:49.560 That's the biggest thing that frustrates me about the program is that people call it a challenge
01:03:53.780 and they think it's some tick tock bullshit.
01:03:55.780 And then they believe it's a diet program.
01:03:59.400 It's not a fucking diet.
01:04:00.560 Yeah.
01:04:00.660 You don't even talk like there is no requirement for the diet.
01:04:03.140 I get that from trainers a lot.
01:04:04.520 They're like, oh, it is a fuck.
01:04:05.780 No, you didn't.
01:04:06.300 You didn't even look into it, dude.
01:04:07.780 You just hate it because everybody's doing it.
01:04:09.700 And if you were fucking smart, you'd program your fucking clients around the program.
01:04:14.800 They'd get 10 times better results.
01:04:16.680 Your fucking testimonials would be a hundred times better.
01:04:19.620 I'll tell you, hey, we've got 30 clients and three of them are on 75 hard.
01:04:23.120 And I promise you those three are skyrocketing past everyone else.
01:04:26.900 Like, bro, I built the shit so that it could work with trainers.
01:04:28.680 And there's so many trainers with fucking, you know, they don't even look into it.
01:04:33.220 And they don't realize, like, hey, bro, this could help your business a lot.
01:04:36.360 Like, and help your clients a lot.
01:04:38.520 So, anyway, that's a whole nother story.
01:04:40.180 And I feel like, too, like you said the program takes, like, 50% of your year.
01:04:44.620 I feel like once you do it, like, you kind of, like, I'm always on program.
01:04:48.840 Me, too.
01:04:48.960 Like, it's not, I'm always doing the diet and I'm always doing the two workouts and I'm always doing the reading and I'm always doing the water.
01:04:54.740 The only thing I don't do when I'm not doing it is the fucking progress pic.
01:04:58.200 And then maybe once in a while, maybe once in a while, I'll have a cheat meal.
01:05:02.280 Like, I'll go have, like, four or five beers.
01:05:04.140 You know, Emily and I will go up to Billy G's and we'll fucking have four Stella's and, you know, three bites of pizza.
01:05:10.620 And then the next morning you're like, ah.
01:05:11.960 Ah, yeah, I fucking hate that.
01:05:14.020 Yeah.
01:05:14.440 Yeah, bro, that's another thing, dude.
01:05:16.140 Once you get that shit out of your body, you realize how bad it is for you.
01:05:19.620 Well, you don't, I think what you don't realize, like, being out of shape and overweight your whole life, you just feel like living that way feels normal.
01:05:25.880 Yeah.
01:05:26.180 You don't know what feeling good feels like.
01:05:27.860 Yeah.
01:05:27.960 And then you start to feel good and you're just like, oh, I don't want to feel bad.
01:05:31.440 And I think so many people in our society have just gotten into this cyclical cycle of feeling like shit.
01:05:36.780 Yeah.
01:05:36.940 They don't realize that they could feel really, really good.
01:05:39.760 Yeah.
01:05:39.980 And I think that was the biggest thing.
01:05:41.940 And people joke because, like, Lauren and I, like, we eat super basic.
01:05:46.080 Even though we own a meal prep company and we make phenomenal, delicious, like, tons of different options.
01:05:50.440 Because I do know that people need variety, but we're very, like, chicken, rice, avocado, like, steak, rice, avocado.
01:05:56.660 Like, we're pretty basic.
01:05:58.800 That's good shit, though.
01:05:59.560 I don't like to eat any other way because I don't like how I feel when I eat the other way.
01:06:04.140 Me too, bro.
01:06:04.720 I like the basics, too, man.
01:06:08.600 I don't know.
01:06:09.200 You know, my whole – everything's changed.
01:06:12.780 Yeah.
01:06:13.020 I'm no longer that guy.
01:06:14.460 You know, now I got to be aware of it.
01:06:16.160 You know, kind of like when you're an alcoholic, you got to be aware of it.
01:06:18.760 You know what I'm saying?
01:06:19.520 But it's cool, man.
01:06:21.380 Well, it changes everything.
01:06:22.100 Like, even when we vacation, we used to, like, plan our vacation around, like, what restaurants are we going to for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
01:06:26.880 And now, like, when we look at hotels, we're like, does it have a good gym?
01:06:29.940 Yeah.
01:06:30.160 Is there a place to get good, healthy food by?
01:06:32.300 And it's not, like, some, like, gimmick or, like, we're just trying to look cool.
01:06:35.160 It's like, no, like, we legitimately, like, we have to work out.
01:06:38.740 Like, we just feel so much better.
01:06:40.420 And then, yeah, you can go on vacation and you can enjoy one nice meal a night and not feel terrible.
01:06:45.460 Like, when you eat clean the rest of the day and you move your body and you drink, drinking water is another thing.
01:06:50.040 It's, like, such an underrated, like, simple task.
01:06:53.120 But it's, like, just hydrate.
01:06:54.380 You'll feel so much better.
01:06:55.620 Yeah.
01:06:56.080 Bro, I can note when I don't drink my water.
01:06:58.600 If I don't get enough water in early in the day, I can tell immediately at, like, noon because my energy is fucking gone.
01:07:05.880 I never noticed.
01:07:06.820 I just always, it's like you said, I was just so used to it.
01:07:09.040 I didn't notice it.
01:07:09.800 Yeah.
01:07:09.960 No, it's crazy once you become aware of everything, how different you feel and you start to, like, you really learn your body.
01:07:18.340 And that's something that's really cool to experience.
01:07:21.240 Well, Jeffrey, I appreciate you, bro.
01:07:22.900 This is awesome.
01:07:23.760 And it was an awesome conversation.
01:07:27.520 Tell everybody where they can find you, you know, on your socials and, you know, talk about what you're doing for business so these guys can, you know, know what you're doing.
01:07:35.500 Yeah, no doubt.
01:07:36.200 No, super honored to be here, man.
01:07:37.880 And this is, like, an experience of a lifetime.
01:07:40.240 You guys, like, if you've never been to HQ and you have the opportunity to come, it is, like, mind-boggling just the level of detail you guys put into everything.
01:07:50.520 It's just, it's really, really cool to see what you've built with 75 Hard and with this company and just, like, the execution, the excellence behind the team.
01:07:59.000 Like, everyone is just honestly amazing.
01:08:01.940 So, thank you so much.
01:08:03.500 We're very fortunate to have those people.
01:08:05.160 Yeah, no doubt.
01:08:05.940 But it's super honored to be here and couldn't be more blessed to, you know, start this relationship and hang out with you guys.
01:08:12.120 But Instagram is probably the easiest way to connect with me.
01:08:14.700 It's just my name, Jeffrey Jensen.
01:08:16.780 We have a coaching business.
01:08:18.100 It's paratransform.com.
01:08:20.140 Super, super simple.
01:08:21.120 Our thing is just...
01:08:21.940 How do you spell it?
01:08:22.340 It's P-A-R-A and then transform.com.
01:08:26.520 And so, our whole thing is just, like, helping people.
01:08:29.700 Like, we just want to help you become the best version of yourself.
01:08:31.980 It's not about becoming a crazy elite athlete unless you want to.
01:08:35.720 But we all know that everyone has the desire to be the best version of themselves.
01:08:39.320 And so, if we can help you in any way, reach out and I'd love to connect.
01:08:42.720 Yeah.
01:08:43.100 Guys, Jeffrey's a good dude.
01:08:44.260 Dude, we've talked a lot before we come out here.
01:08:47.360 And I can tell you this man really cares about helping people get better.
01:08:50.780 And I'm very, very appreciative of that, bro.
01:08:52.740 We need more of that in the world.
01:08:53.920 So, you're leading by example.
01:08:55.420 You're helping people get better.
01:08:56.560 And I think it's a fucking awesome thing, dude.
01:08:59.120 Yeah.
01:08:59.520 So.
01:09:00.120 No, I appreciate it.
01:09:00.880 I appreciate everything you've done.
01:09:02.060 And, I mean, honestly, man, the program and you guys have absolutely changed my life.
01:09:05.420 So, can't thank you enough.
01:09:06.520 Well, now you're changing other people's lives, bro.
01:09:08.340 It's pretty cool.
01:09:09.080 Yeah, it is.
01:09:09.680 The ripple effect.
01:09:10.220 Do you think that 350-pound dude would be changing people's lives like this?
01:09:13.060 No, not at all.
01:09:13.820 And the ripple effect is insane.
01:09:15.840 So, I do want to leave with this.
01:09:17.820 If you are someone who has the ability to be around a lot of people, like, if you have
01:09:23.680 the gut, like, the feeling in your gut to have a conversation with somebody, like, have
01:09:28.480 the conversation.
01:09:29.140 Because you never know how that will change someone's life.
01:09:31.540 And I think about Sam coming up to me three years ago and just, like, starting a conversation
01:09:36.060 with a stranger and how that led to 12 hours of us spending time together and building
01:09:40.960 your relationship, which led to me listening to the podcast, which led to 75 hard, which
01:09:44.920 changed everything.
01:09:45.920 It's like, if he doesn't have that conversation, like, where are you?
01:09:50.100 What is, what does today look like?
01:09:51.220 Yeah.
01:09:51.400 And so, I know sometimes it's inconvenient to talk to people or you might be busy, but
01:09:56.220 like, man, you just never know the impact that you can make on somebody just by, like,
01:09:59.960 being kind, talking to them, asking them how their day is going and seeing where it goes.
01:10:04.040 So.
01:10:04.500 That's awesome, bro.
01:10:05.300 I love that.
01:10:06.040 It's true, too.
01:10:07.040 I've had a number of key conversations in my life.
01:10:09.240 One in particular that changed my entire life.
01:10:12.200 And it's, it's actually pretty incredible.
01:10:16.760 So, brother, I appreciate you, man.
01:10:19.200 Yeah, man.
01:10:19.680 Yeah.
01:10:19.900 I appreciate you.
01:10:20.440 Looking forward to a long friendship.
01:10:22.100 Yeah, no doubt.
01:10:23.240 Guys, that's 75 hard versus Jeffrey Jensen.
01:10:28.960 Make sure you give this dude a follow.
01:10:32.140 I appreciate you guys.
01:10:33.500 I love you guys.
01:10:34.360 And let's go get after it.
01:10:35.620 Yeah.
01:10:36.540 Went from sleepin' on the floor.
01:10:38.180 Now my jewelry box froze.
01:10:39.880 Fuck a pole.
01:10:40.700 Fuck a stove.
01:10:41.560 Counted millions in the cold.
01:10:43.220 Bad bitch.
01:10:44.060 Booty swole.
01:10:44.900 Got her on bankroll.
01:10:46.540 Can't fold.
01:10:47.420 Doesn't know.
01:10:48.220 Headshot.
01:10:49.040 Case closed.
