00:00:00.000 What is up, guys? It's Andy Fursella, and this is the show for the realists. Say goodbye to the lies, the fakeness, and delusions of modern society.
00:00:06.980 And welcome to motherfucking reality. Guys, today, we have Q&AF. That's where you submit the questions and we give you the answers.
00:00:13.920 Now, you can submit your questions a couple different ways. The first way is, guys, email these questions to askandy at andyfursella.com.
00:00:21.400 Or you go on YouTube in the Q&AF episodes, drop your question in the comments, and we'll choose some from there as well.
00:00:26.160 Other times throughout the week, we're going to have CTI. We've been on a little hiatus for a little bit, but we're going to get right back to it.
00:00:32.540 That stands for Cruise the Internet. That's where we put topics on the screen. We speculate on what's true and what's not true.
00:00:39.020 And then we talk about how we, the people, have to solve these problems going on in the world.
00:00:42.440 Other times, we're going to have real talk. That's just like 5 to 20 minutes of me giving you some real talk.
00:00:47.120 And then we have 75 Hard Versus. That is where people who have completed the 75 Hard Program come on the show.
00:00:53.540 They talk about how they were before, how they are now, and how they use the 75 Hard Program to rebuild their mental framework and take back control of their life.
00:01:03.720 Now, if you're unfamiliar with 75 Hard, it is the initial phase of the Live Hard Program that you can get at episode 208 on the audio feed only.
00:01:12.560 208 on audio feed. It's not on YouTube.
00:01:16.820 It will give you the entire Live Hard Program top to bottom.
00:01:19.740 There is a book available. You can get it at andyprissela.com, but it's not necessary.
00:01:26.700 The whole program is for free to episode 208. Check it out and get it going there.
00:01:32.880 There's a fee for the show. The fee is tell a friend.
00:01:35.160 We're constantly dealing with shadow bans, traffic throttling, and all kinds of censorship issues.
00:01:41.960 Please share the show.
00:01:43.020 We put a lot of time and effort into this show.
00:01:44.880 We don't run ads on the show, and we ask that you just help us grow the show.
00:01:49.020 So if the show brings you some value, makes you think, makes you laugh, it gives you a new perspective, you learn something, don't be a hoe.
00:01:56.340 Share the show.
00:01:57.660 Oh, got me.
00:01:58.520 Yep.
00:02:00.860 I always try to time this shit up. I'm like, oh, I got time. Let me take a little sip sip.
00:02:04.480 What's going on, man?
00:02:05.440 Nothing, dude. What's up with you?
00:02:06.460 Oh, you know, man, listen, you know, I think everybody listening, they know that I don't have a good experience with the pools.
00:02:13.100 Yeah.
00:02:14.260 So I haven't been doing that, but I've been doing something else.
00:02:17.920 What's that?
00:02:18.600 Down in my basement, man. I sent you some pictures.
00:02:20.780 Yeah.
00:02:20.980 I've been doing some work, man.
00:02:22.280 Yeah, you're like making your own little cabinet.
00:02:24.320 Yeah, bro.
00:02:25.640 Shit's clean, too.
00:02:26.560 Yeah, it looks good, dude.
00:02:27.500 You inspired me, man.
00:02:28.940 How so?
00:02:29.420 Because you redid the bar lounge.
00:02:31.000 I didn't redo it. I paid something.
00:02:32.400 You had it. I mean, not the rule of life. You know how to do something or have enough money to have somebody else do it.
00:02:37.920 Yeah.
00:02:38.020 That's like the rule of life.
00:02:38.880 Yeah.
00:02:39.200 You know, and I know how to do it, and I fucking love that shit. And like, yes, I've been down in the basement, man, doing some work. A little Bob the Builder.
00:02:46.560 Now, is that your like man cave down there? What is that?
00:02:48.660 No, I have one room in the house.
00:02:50.820 Yeah, I know.
00:02:51.400 And that's just like, that's it. And that wasn't it.
00:02:53.540 No.
00:02:53.800 Okay.
00:02:54.340 So that is not your room.
00:02:55.420 It's still not mine.
00:02:56.220 All right.
00:02:56.400 That's Alex. Everything else is Alex and the girls, man.
00:02:59.020 Yeah. But no, man, we were like doing some, some funk shui work in the basement, you know, trying to just get it all right.
00:03:05.420 Because, bro, like, listen, the problem with kids, man, and I'm going to say it because I know nobody else will. Kids have too much shit. That's the problem.
00:03:12.300 Yeah.
00:03:12.440 Like, it's fucking, like, everywhere you step.
00:03:14.800 Yeah. You're stepping on Legos and shit.
00:03:16.580 Fucking shit, man. Like, dude, it's terrible.
00:03:18.300 Yeah. You ever step on a fucking Lego?
00:03:20.000 Not yet. Like, but I'm sure I'll get there.
00:03:21.960 That's the worst.
00:03:23.020 But they got too much shit, man. So we've been like trying to like funk shui the basement out, you know, like to make it a little bit better of a setup.
00:03:29.200 And we had this, like, deep, like, corner embed or whatever. And I'm like, we got to put something here. And yeah, man. So I've been grinding, man.
00:03:35.360 Good.
00:03:35.660 I've been grinding.
00:03:36.300 It looks good.
00:03:36.880 It's nice to, like, do some shit with your hands every day, man, dude.
00:03:39.980 Yeah. For sure, dude.
00:03:40.540 This makes me feel manly, you know.
00:03:43.100 Very manly.
00:03:44.300 Yeah, man. That's about it, man.
00:03:46.200 Well, it's Monday. Let's get into it.
00:03:47.740 Yeah.
00:03:47.860 We got three good ones for you guys, as always. So with that being said, Andy, guys, question number one. Andy.
00:03:54.480 I think I have been struggling with setting big enough goals.
00:04:00.980 This year, I set a goal in my business to do 100K in revenue, and we are going to do over 300K.
00:04:07.360 Anyway, I am looking to the new year and looking at setting goals, and I think I might be afraid to set even bigger goals because I don't want to fall short.
00:04:17.620 Where do you find the line between setting a large goal and being realistic?
00:04:23.980 It's not that I don't have dreams of the biggest goals.
00:04:26.740 I just don't like falling short.
00:04:28.760 How do you do this, Andy?
00:04:29.460 First of all, it depends on how big you want to go, okay?
00:04:34.360 If you want to be big and you want to build a big life and you want to be mega successful, you got to have big goals.
00:04:40.940 And the thing about big goals that aren't realistic is that big goals inspire big actions which produce big results.
00:04:48.060 And realistic goals inspire realistic actions which produce regular realistic results.
00:04:55.740 So, it really doesn't matter how you set your goals, but you need to understand how this works, all right?
00:05:02.960 A lot of people, they want to hit their goal, and they want to say, oh, I lost five pounds or I made $100,000.
00:05:10.440 And that's fine, but the truth of the matter is the highest achieving people, they are resetting the bar for their goals before they even achieve the goal.
00:05:18.780 I can't tell you the last time I achieved, quote-unquote, a goal and was like, man, this is great.
00:05:25.620 I hit my goal.
00:05:26.580 That's not how high-level, high-achieving individuals think.
00:05:31.800 They set a massive goal, and then when they realize that they're going to hit the goal, they get close to it, and then they raise the bar again.
00:05:39.800 So, it's like you never actually end up hitting the goal, but you move past it every time.
00:05:44.840 And that's how championship people think.
00:05:47.760 That's how high-level people think.
00:05:49.560 And we have all these people out in the world who really haven't accomplished a motherfucking thing telling everybody, oh, you got to set realistic goals and take small little actions.
00:05:59.500 And, you know, they don't understand it because they've never built anything of any sizable nature.
00:06:05.000 If you want to be excellent and you want to build something huge and you want to have a big life and you want to make a lot of money and you want to kick ass, you better set some big fucking goals and follow it up with some big fucking actions.
00:06:16.700 Because you're not going to ever set realistic goals and then have the tiny little realistic actions produce the result that you're trying to get.
00:06:23.840 And I know a lot of people try to block this out along the way.
00:06:27.720 They try to say, well, this is a little milestone and that's my next goal.
00:06:31.400 And this is a little milestone and that's my next goal.
00:06:33.780 And that's fine, except the actions that are taken in those little steps are always little.
00:06:39.080 They're not massive.
00:06:40.360 And we're capable of producing massive action and building massive results.
00:06:48.220 Like, dude, it's not that much harder to take action against a massive goal than it is a small goal.
00:06:54.120 You have X amount of energy that needs to be expended.
00:06:57.360 You have X amount of time that needs to be applied.
00:07:00.180 And the time and the energy that need to be expected for a small goal and a big goal are really not that much different.
00:07:06.780 So if you're going to be working and you're going to be putting the time in and you're going to be sweating and grinding and be frustrated and do all this shit that you got to do,
00:07:13.700 you might as well try to be the best in the fucking world at it because it's going to take the same amount of time and energy anyway.
00:07:19.380 So that's how I think of it.
00:07:21.400 I think a lot of people really fuck themselves by listening to idiots on the internet who have never fucking done anything except maybe write some shit.
00:07:32.780 Like, we're inundated with advice from who?
00:07:36.920 From who?
00:07:38.100 You guys read these meme pages.
00:07:40.200 You read these mental health pages.
00:07:42.300 You read all these...
00:07:43.200 Who the fuck are these people?
00:07:45.840 They're writers.
00:07:47.540 What have they accomplished?
00:07:48.740 Oh, they took a pencil and they said, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:07:51.300 Like, bro, we got to listen to practicality.
00:07:55.080 What produces results?
00:07:57.460 Okay?
00:07:57.840 And we are mind fucked by the internet because there's so much information and there's so many opinions.
00:08:05.560 And hardly any of those opinions come from anybody with any real world results to point at.
00:08:11.360 All right?
00:08:11.680 Especially with the mindset psychology shit.
00:08:15.700 Like, I see so much garbage on the internet that people read and take seriously.
00:08:21.620 That is terrible fucking advice.
00:08:24.120 I see them repost it.
00:08:25.760 I see them try to live by it.
00:08:27.780 I see them try to curve their life into these ideas when the fucking advice is wrong.
00:08:33.700 I can tell you that for sure because I've been down the road.
00:08:36.700 Right?
00:08:37.180 So we have all these fucking people spewing all this shit and people are listening to it and they don't know what to do.
00:08:42.940 And one of the things that we hear the most about is setting these small realistic goals.
00:08:47.980 But I'm here to tell you every fucking massively successful person in any area of life that I know sets massive goals.
00:08:56.740 And they follow it up with massive action.
00:08:58.280 How would you address the fear part here?
00:09:00.120 Because, you know, he's saying, like, even if he sets this big goal, he's scared of this falling short.
00:09:04.320 But are you really scared of falling short if, you know, it's still, like, way bigger than you would have fucking landed?
00:09:11.120 What the fuck does it matter if you set a big ass goal?
00:09:14.420 Dude, there's a saying.
00:09:15.440 Everybody's heard it.
00:09:16.680 Okay?
00:09:18.080 Shoot for the moon and you'll land among the stars.
00:09:20.940 Okay?
00:09:21.300 That's one of the meme pages.
00:09:22.340 Yes.
00:09:22.620 But there's actually truth to that.
00:09:24.480 Yeah.
00:09:25.080 Because if you set your goal to run 100 miles, do you think you're going to be able to run a marathon eventually?
00:09:30.500 Pretty easy, probably.
00:09:31.620 Yeah.
00:09:31.900 Right?
00:09:32.320 Yeah.
00:09:32.640 But if you set your goal to run a marathon, you're going to get to mile fucking 19 and be dogging your balls off.
00:09:38.700 Okay?
00:09:39.200 This is what I'm talking about.
00:09:40.540 You get far better and make far more progress and win way more by setting massive goals, massive action.
00:09:48.720 And you may never hit that goal.
00:09:50.000 You may become 10 yards short.
00:09:51.840 But the thing is, is that when you're 10 yards short, then you make a new goal.
00:09:55.760 And then you pass the goal that you set.
00:09:58.000 Does that make sense?
00:09:58.560 That makes perfect sense.
00:09:59.400 Yeah.
00:09:59.640 Like, dude, the fucking internet is ruining people's ability to think and follow practical advice because there's too many fucking nobodies who haven't done shit, who aren't qualified to give any motherfucking advice given it.
00:10:16.180 Yeah.
00:10:16.340 Let me ask you this, Andy, because, you know, this is real AF, and you've pride yourself on telling people the honest truth, right?
00:10:23.620 And in this, like, concept, right, in this idea of, like, setting these massive goals, I want to ask you, like, because, okay, yeah, you set massive goals, take big actions, get big results.
00:10:33.720 What's the catch?
00:10:34.700 Like, what would you say, like, just being complete honest?
00:10:37.640 Like, what's the one thing about having that mindset that kind of sucks?
00:10:42.160 Like, is it like a-
00:10:42.880 Look, dude, here it is.
00:10:44.440 Okay?
00:10:45.360 Action plus time equals fucking results.
00:10:48.000 And everybody emails in, and they ask all these motherfucking questions, and you got all these people on the internet saying all this shit.
00:10:55.060 Here's the bottom line, motherfuckers.
00:10:56.900 You got to do the fucking work.
00:10:58.500 You got to do it when you don't want to do it.
00:11:00.240 You got to do it when you're hurt.
00:11:01.420 You got to do it when you're tired.
00:11:02.440 You got to do it when you're sick.
00:11:03.400 You got to do it when you don't want to fucking do anything else, and you got to do it for fucking years.
00:11:08.200 And that is the real shit, okay?
00:11:10.640 Everybody that asks a motherfucking question about anything is ultimately usually trying to figure out how to get out of the fucking work.
00:11:18.300 And you can't win without that.
00:11:20.460 You can't win without it.
00:11:21.720 So, motherfucker, I don't give a fuck what size goal you set, but you better show up every day and follow a big action.
00:11:28.320 You're going to be fucking broke.
00:11:29.780 I love it, man.
00:11:30.560 Dude, I get tired of this shit.
00:11:31.960 I get tired of fucking people when I've put 26 motherfucking years into my life to build this fucking life that I have.
00:11:42.140 It would be 26 years January 1st.
00:11:44.480 Coming to me like, I'm burnt out in six months.
00:11:47.500 I've been doing this for two years.
00:11:48.860 I'm burnt out.
00:11:49.760 Then you ain't got it, bro.
00:11:51.820 Okay?
00:11:52.200 Because this is a fucking long sprint.
00:11:54.740 You are sprinting as fast as you can for your whole life.
00:11:58.020 That's what it is.
00:11:59.160 Okay?
00:11:59.500 And it's hard.
00:12:00.080 And you can't get around doing the work.
00:12:02.100 And you're not going to figure out how to do it.
00:12:03.720 You're not the first person in the world that's going to figure out how to do it without doing the fucking hard shit and putting in the time.
00:12:08.700 You are not going to do it.
00:12:10.540 So, you have to ask yourself, is this the life I really want?
00:12:13.680 Do I really want to pay that price?
00:12:15.620 And what am I going to give for it?
00:12:17.560 What's it going to cost me?
00:12:19.120 Okay?
00:12:19.400 Because it's going to cost a lot.
00:12:20.680 It's going to cost you a lot of the shit that everybody else gets to live with.
00:12:24.320 Or am I going to go live like everybody else and not beat my dick into the dirt expecting something that never happened because I think I'm the first guy ever to fucking get around the work.
00:12:35.680 You understand?
00:12:36.940 Like, bro, it ain't for everybody.
00:12:39.520 One of the biggest problems with the internet is it fucking makes people think that entrepreneurship and building a company and success is for everybody.
00:12:47.380 There is a reason it's rare, and the reason it's rare is because it's incredibly fucking difficult, and it takes a long time, and it has to be the focus of your day every single fucking day.
00:12:57.700 And there is no relief.
00:12:59.320 It's relentless.
00:13:00.500 It'll punch you in the face a thousand fucking times in a row and not give a fuck how bad you're hurting.
00:13:06.240 Okay?
00:13:06.540 And if you ain't wired for that, you better figure out how to do it.
00:13:09.020 That's the entire fucking point of the Live Hard program, to build you into a mentally tough individual who has the fortitude, the perseverance, the discipline, the mental toughness to kick ass on a daily basis and laugh when the world kicks you in the fucking face.
00:13:25.900 Okay?
00:13:26.220 That is what you have to become.
00:13:28.100 And any of the shit that you guys think, where you think, oh, I can get around doing this, or it's work smart.
00:13:34.120 Okay, motherfucker.
00:13:35.700 Go do it then.
00:13:37.040 Go do it.
00:13:37.840 Let's see you do it.
00:13:39.020 And what do you see in fucking six months?
00:13:40.900 Oh, they're doing this.
00:13:42.100 Now they're doing this new thing.
00:13:43.480 Now they're doing this new thing here.
00:13:44.980 And the reason that happens is because they think that they can get around it or it's going to be easy.
00:13:50.860 And so when it gets hard, they're like, fuck, this is too hard.
00:13:52.880 I'm going to go over here.
00:13:53.420 Well, you guys are going to be broke.
00:13:54.960 That's it.
00:13:55.440 You're going to be broke.
00:13:56.200 Just accept it.
00:13:57.620 Just say, fuck it.
00:13:59.640 I'm going to fucking go live my life.
00:14:01.300 I'm going to scrape by.
00:14:03.260 And that's fine with me.
00:14:04.760 Because, dude, it's hard as fuck.
00:14:07.100 And truly let it be fine with you.
00:14:08.620 Yeah.
00:14:09.500 Like, you don't have to fucking drive Lambos and shit, bro.
00:14:13.020 Like, not everybody has to do that.
00:14:15.400 Like, you know what I'm saying?
00:14:17.120 You got to weigh what the fucking cost is.
00:14:18.980 There's a heavy cost to living that kind of life.
00:14:21.900 And it fucking costs you almost everything.
00:14:24.480 And you may say, oh, well, that doesn't sound like a good deal for Lambos.
00:14:27.640 Well, there's some good deals.
00:14:28.880 I get to go where the fuck I want.
00:14:30.600 Anytime I want.
00:14:31.680 Do anything I want.
00:14:32.600 Buy anything I want.
00:14:33.820 I don't have any fucking restrictions on my fucking finances.
00:14:36.660 Ever.
00:14:37.260 That's pretty fucking good.
00:14:38.420 What's your main problem in your life?
00:14:39.840 Right.
00:14:41.160 You see what I'm saying?
00:14:42.000 Right.
00:14:42.560 So, I just get tired of people expecting that this is going to be fucking easy.
00:14:47.940 Yeah.
00:14:48.180 Or you're going to be the first fucking kid at 22 years old to figure out how to get around
00:14:51.300 the work.
00:14:52.540 Fuck, dude.
00:14:53.260 Yeah.
00:14:53.800 If you figure it out, fucking call me.
00:14:55.580 Tell me.
00:14:58.040 26 years, I'm doing something wrong.
00:15:00.080 Yeah, right.
00:15:01.720 There's actually a perfect leeway into our next question, though, because I've met a lot
00:15:06.700 of people, Andy, and I would say you tackle this in a much different way than I think most
00:15:11.680 people, pretty much anybody does.
00:15:13.840 And it's a great flow to our second question.
00:15:15.560 So, let's get to that.
00:15:16.700 Hi, Andy.
00:15:18.640 And I'm on my second round of 75 hard now.
00:15:21.620 I felt the first time for missing the small details.
00:15:23.960 Forgot a photo on day 42.
00:15:26.180 I've read both books and listened to every episode.
00:15:28.120 You talk about loving the fact that you're the only one out there doing the hard shit,
00:15:33.760 but I can't seem to find that mindset.
00:15:36.460 I'm on day 48 up in Canada, and today it was zero degrees Fahrenheit with a 40-mile-per-hour
00:15:40.860 wind.
00:15:41.580 It was hands down the worst outside workout I've done, and it fucking sucked.
00:15:46.660 I hated every second of it.
00:15:47.940 How do you learn to reframe that into the mindset you talk about?
00:15:52.740 I want to have that feeling of pride for doing hard shit, but I can't seem to see past the
00:15:57.520 suck.
00:15:57.940 Thank you for everything you've done.
00:15:59.000 You love the hard shit.
00:15:59.980 How do you not?
00:16:02.600 How do you not when it's zero degrees and there's a fucking foot of snow on the ground
00:16:07.280 and you're fucking out there and no one else is out there and you're doing what the fuck
00:16:11.320 it takes, and you look around and you can't see another fucking human for miles.
00:16:17.100 You don't see a car.
00:16:18.160 You can't hear anything.
00:16:19.800 How can you not stop and be like, bro, I'm the only one.
00:16:23.960 I am the only one paying the price.
00:16:26.540 I am the only one doing what's required.
00:16:29.320 Everybody else is sitting at home eating fucking Doritos, and I am out here in the fucking
00:16:34.580 snow getting better.
00:16:36.400 How can you not be excited about that?
00:16:39.840 If you can't get excited about that and you can't find that mindset, go eat some fucking
00:16:44.300 donuts and give the fuck up.
00:16:45.860 I'm being serious because you don't have the competitive nature that is required to fucking
00:16:51.200 win.
00:16:51.980 Okay?
00:16:52.660 To win, you have to be competitive.
00:16:54.460 If you're not competitive and you think that this is going to be easy, you're going to get
00:16:59.300 stomped.
00:17:00.240 All right?
00:17:00.600 So, it's competitive nature against all humans.
00:17:06.020 Where the fuck is everybody?
00:17:07.740 Oh, they're in by the fire.
00:17:09.520 They're under their blankets.
00:17:11.420 How do you not fucking think that?
00:17:13.880 So, like, I can't help you because I'm so wired the other way that that's just what the
00:17:18.200 fuck I think.
00:17:18.980 I look around.
00:17:20.120 I don't see anybody.
00:17:21.480 I come in here.
00:17:22.300 I come in wherever I'm at, and everybody's got their fucking clothes on, like their coats
00:17:26.080 and shit, and I'm just like, yeah, that's right.
00:17:28.440 That's why I'm me.
00:17:29.560 You see what I'm saying?
00:17:30.840 That's what the fuck I think.
00:17:32.240 And if you don't have that little chip, if you don't have that little cockiness, if you
00:17:35.880 don't have that competitiveness, fuck, bro, you ain't going to make it.
00:17:39.480 It's too fucking hard.
00:17:41.640 Now, if you're just trying to gain some, you know, you're trying to build some of this
00:17:45.060 shit, you know, I don't know the answer because I've always been that way.
00:17:51.020 I'm a competitive person.
00:17:52.460 Everything's a competition.
00:17:53.280 Yeah.
00:17:53.460 Like, I can't put competitive into you, bro.
00:17:56.300 I can't.
00:17:57.380 I'm sorry.
00:17:57.980 There's been an entire generation of human beings that have been ruined by fucking bad
00:18:02.240 parenting strategies, teaching kids that it's not important to be competitive and that
00:18:06.860 everybody gets a fucking trophy and everybody gets to show up and be celebrated.
00:18:11.040 Even if they turn up last, that's not reality, bro.
00:18:15.040 And if you don't have competitive nature in your heart, if you don't have it in your soul,
00:18:19.640 you cannot fucking put it there.
00:18:22.700 It is either there or it's not there.
00:18:24.520 So I don't know what to tell you, dude, but I can tell you this.
00:18:27.980 I can't not look around and be like, yeah, that's right.
00:18:33.400 I'm out here.
00:18:34.120 They're in there.
00:18:34.680 That's why I'm me and they're them.
00:18:36.160 How the fuck do you not think that?
00:18:37.720 Yeah.
00:18:38.500 Yeah.
00:18:38.680 I mean, maybe that's the thing, right?
00:18:40.320 Like, you just make it like a mini game almost, you know, with yourself.
00:18:42.700 Yeah.
00:18:42.900 You call it test days.
00:18:44.000 Yeah.
00:18:44.440 Right?
00:18:44.740 Like, I mean, is that a good place to start?
00:18:47.540 Like, just turning that into a game with yourself, just that one.
00:18:50.560 Test days is a different thing, man.
00:18:52.260 Test days is like when the shit's so fucking hard and you don't want to do it and you can't
00:18:57.500 fucking wrap your mind around even getting it started.
00:19:01.980 And you do it anyway and you pass the test and that's a test day.
00:19:06.600 You know what I'm saying?
00:19:07.160 Like, what we're talking about here is competitive nature and the ability to find the mindset
00:19:14.100 of doing hard things that other people aren't willing to do.
00:19:19.060 Like, I don't really understand how you could do all these things that are hard and look
00:19:24.940 around and see very few people doing it and not have a sense of pride and respect for yourself.
00:19:30.120 You know what I mean?
00:19:31.000 Yeah.
00:19:31.440 I don't understand that.
00:19:32.600 Yeah.
00:19:33.080 So maybe you just need to audit how you're thinking about it.
00:19:35.560 And maybe you need to get a little bit of a chip on your shoulder and realize, like,
00:19:39.660 you're doing a lot of shit that nobody's willing to do, bro.
00:19:42.320 That's a big fucking deal.
00:19:44.020 It's not a little deal.
00:19:44.700 It's a big deal.
00:19:45.580 Like, when you're out there and it's zero degrees and there's nobody out, you should
00:19:48.680 be saying, fuck yeah, I'm the man.
00:19:50.760 That's what the fuck you should be saying.
00:19:52.600 That's definitely what you think.
00:19:53.960 Yeah.
00:19:55.520 It's the truth, though.
00:19:56.500 It is the truth.
00:19:57.300 Yeah.
00:19:57.940 If you're, whoever's willing to do the fucking inconvenient hard shit tends to win.
00:20:01.700 I love it, man.
00:20:02.760 I love it, guys.
00:20:03.500 Andy, let's get to our third and final question.
00:20:05.560 Guys, Andy, question number three.
00:20:07.580 Hello, Andy.
00:20:08.880 Long time listener before Roro hit.
00:20:12.760 My questions are, how do you deal with a competitor copying everything you do?
00:20:18.860 From social media posts, copying parts we manufacture, to even trying to poach our sponsored races
00:20:26.200 from us.
00:20:26.820 I work for a UTV parts manufacturer and build race cars that win.
00:20:32.180 We are one of the leaders in the UTV industry, and it's every day this company shadows our
00:20:38.120 moves.
00:20:38.800 We make a post about us shipping parts.
00:20:40.860 Out two hours later, they make the same post.
00:20:43.600 We post about a new chassis we developed.
00:20:45.420 Here they come with some bullshit about being an innovator and making some part.
00:20:49.140 I'm honestly deflating because I've spent 22 years building who I am in the fabrication and
00:20:55.660 welding industry.
00:20:56.700 Appreciate your time.
00:20:57.560 Is, what do they say, is impersonation the highest sign of whatever the fuck they say?
00:21:03.480 No.
00:21:03.740 They say impersonation is the highest form of flattery, but it's not.
00:21:08.520 It's the highest form of unoriginality.
00:21:10.920 And you have to understand, what ends up happening here is people try to copy, and then they don't
00:21:17.140 realize that they're one, two, three years behind, and they can never catch them, all
00:21:20.680 right?
00:21:20.920 So if you're the market leader, which I don't know if you are or not.
00:21:25.860 You say you are, but I don't know if you are.
00:21:27.940 If you're not, you need to become that.
00:21:30.680 You need to figure out how to get more eyeballs, get more traffic, become bigger.
00:21:34.240 And it's not going to matter if they copy you or not.
00:21:36.200 There's lots of people that copy everybody all day.
00:21:38.560 But there's always one company that stands above and sets the trends, all right?
00:21:42.900 And if you're the company who is setting the trends, you don't worry about what they're
00:21:47.080 doing.
00:21:47.400 You just decide what's going to be best, and you do those things.
00:21:51.360 And yes, they're going to copy.
00:21:52.720 You're never going to get people to not copy you.
00:21:54.820 But you have to realize that it's not going to affect you because they're behind you already.
00:21:59.040 Like, if I come up with an idea, and it takes a year to put into play, and then another
00:22:03.340 year to actually fucking really start kicking ass, and then someone over here says,
00:22:07.820 Oh, look at that.
00:22:08.540 They're fucking two years behind.
00:22:10.140 Already.
00:22:10.720 Yeah.
00:22:10.940 They're always going to lose.
00:22:12.380 Okay?
00:22:12.640 This is why you have to think of your company as its own thing and not focus on what everybody
00:22:18.360 else is doing.
00:22:19.600 When we're in business, it's easy to focus on everybody else and try to ... You don't want
00:22:26.920 anybody else to have any business.
00:22:29.900 You know, that's what you do when you're competitive.
00:22:32.720 But at the end of the day, you have to realize, dude, that if you're the market leader and someone
00:22:40.360 else is copying you, they're never going to catch you because they're always behind.
00:22:43.760 They're always behind.
00:22:45.200 And if you're the copier, you have to realize that you're always going to be behind, and
00:22:49.000 you're never really going to make it happen.
00:22:50.820 And here's another thing.
00:22:52.020 If you are the market leader, and you do have someone who's copying you, and they're running
00:22:56.220 ads, and you've already saturated the market with ads and familiarity, when customers
00:23:01.000 see their ads, they're going to think of you.
00:23:02.860 Right.
00:23:03.220 Okay?
00:23:03.720 So, dude, we used to have the same thing happen on our radio ads here.
00:23:07.580 We would have little companies.
00:23:09.140 We'd do a lot of local radio with our retail operation.
00:23:14.160 And we'd have people straight up start copying our radio ads, and then our business would
00:23:20.840 go up.
00:23:21.620 You know what I'm saying?
00:23:22.820 Because it was like a similar ad for a similar product, but we had spent so much that people
00:23:27.020 associated that ad and that product with us.
00:23:29.200 So then the other company came in and spent money trying to get us, and then they inadvertently
00:23:33.580 pressed people to us because of the familiarity.
00:23:36.640 So that's why you want to become the market leader.
00:23:39.000 That's why you want to make sure that you're grasping the market properly to become top
00:23:46.000 of mind, where even if they do copy, people are going to think of you anyway.
00:23:50.440 Are consumers smart enough to see the difference?
00:23:52.700 To know the difference?
00:23:53.480 Like, to know the difference between the OG, you know, Fruit Loops versus the fucking knockoff
00:23:59.100 Fruity Circle.
00:23:59.720 No, I mean, look, dude.
00:24:00.740 That's another thing, is you got to remember, there's customers for every price point and
00:24:05.940 every quality point.
00:24:07.040 So, like, just because someone does something similar to you doesn't mean they're going
00:24:10.860 to get your customer.
00:24:11.560 There's tons of nutritional supplement companies.
00:24:13.660 We got our own customers.
00:24:14.900 Yeah.
00:24:15.380 They're not getting our customers.
00:24:16.780 Right.
00:24:17.000 Our customers are ours, right?
00:24:18.620 Because we're an original brand.
00:24:22.140 And that's how it works, man.
00:24:23.860 Yeah.
00:24:24.140 No, that makes sense.
00:24:25.080 I want to ask you this with 26 years of experience.
00:24:27.840 Tell me if I'm right or wrong.
00:24:29.380 Because, like, I'm trying to put myself in the shoes of this entrepreneur, right?
00:24:33.180 And this may be, like, an immature move, but this is something I was thinking about,
00:24:36.800 like, I would do, right?
00:24:37.960 I would fucking intentionally make, you know, a bad, not a bad move that's going to fuck
00:24:42.420 me up, but I would intentionally make, you know, a bad decision, a bad move, post it
00:24:46.320 just to expose them and the copy.
00:24:49.200 No, nobody cares, dude.
00:24:50.880 It's a bad move.
00:24:51.780 Yes.
00:24:52.300 That is ego, small business owner, irrelevant, emotional shit.
00:24:59.340 You're not focused on building the best product.
00:25:01.880 You're focused on outdoing this idiot over here.
00:25:04.580 Yeah.
00:25:05.100 That's a recipe for losing yourself.
00:25:07.920 So, stay focused on what you do.
00:25:10.280 Do it better than everybody.
00:25:11.700 And the fucking cards are going to fall where they're going to fall.
00:25:14.620 You know what I'm saying?
00:25:15.500 I love it, man.
00:25:16.120 I love it.
00:25:17.220 I love it, man.
00:25:18.000 That's the only way to start on Monday, bro.
00:25:19.380 Yeah, bro.
00:25:19.960 All right, guys.
00:25:22.440 Pretty sure we're going to hit CGI this week.
00:25:25.820 We had a lot going on.
00:25:27.220 So, we'll see you guys tomorrow.
