REAL AF with Andy Frisella - 884. Full Length： Bad Thoughts Ft. Tom Segura

00:00:00.000 What is up guys? It's Andy Fursella and this is the show for the realist's sake about the lies,

00:00:20.880 the fakeness and delusions of modern society and welcome to motherfucking reality. Guys, 0.98

00:00:26.320 as always we have dj yeah there he is uh special full-length episode today we got a special guest

00:00:35.200 mr tom segara what's happening brother how are you thanks for having me man yeah man it's great to

00:00:40.480 have you here too uh he's in town doing the fox theater how is it it's amazing dude uh it's one

00:00:47.680 of the most beautiful theaters in the country i've always i've been playing st louis like my

00:00:52.280 whole career you know i i think my first stop here was helium and i've done like a variety of

00:01:00.360 different venues i've been to the fox a few times it's one of the best it's one of the best theaters 0.96

00:01:04.680 in the country it sucks when you came in though man we had the fucking storm yeah it was it was 0.97

00:01:09.560 took you out man it was a it was actually a gnarly uh descent into st louis yeah we touched down about 0.99

00:01:16.040 10 minutes before the tornado and you could tell something was happening yeah um but uh yeah we

00:01:21.240 made it through it and you know people people were fun last night yeah was it good yeah it was

00:01:26.760 great yeah it was great say look i mean dude look we kind of get left off the list of a lot of things

00:01:32.440 let's be real that's real uh you know i'm sure it has nothing to do with the war zone that we live in

00:01:37.240 downtown but uh we always appreciate you coming through and absolutely thank man so what's been going

00:01:43.160 on got a new netflix new series out yeah it's called bad thoughts it's on netflix um it was the most

00:01:49.720 fun i've ever had like creatively making it you know because it was kind of like

00:01:55.160 it really was the thing you dream of where where the the studio the network in this case was just

00:02:00.520 like pretty much like just make what you want you know because i've been through other development

00:02:05.640 processes and pilots where you know the first time you meet with uh executives they're like yeah make

00:02:11.160 what you want and then a couple months in they're like take all this out and you're like

00:02:15.640 not like that yeah yeah and it's a it's a real bummer of a process when it's like that

00:02:21.080 so this was like the opposite where we got to make i mean pretty wild uh stories that we wrote

00:02:27.480 it's basically anthology so it's like these self-contained stories um and we we got to make

00:02:33.560 what we wanted so yeah it was really fun and nobody stepped in and said hey wait a minute dude this is

00:02:38.600 like a little too much i mean there's a couple times where they were like this is pretty they're like this

00:02:44.120 is pretty crazy um you know in the writing process uh very like very few notes and then

00:02:52.120 in the edit you know they were like this is particularly gruesome can we can we dial this

00:02:58.360 back and we were like maybe yeah but dude isn't that the isn't that the like isn't that the point

00:03:05.160 like isn't the point to walk the line and yeah yeah i think i mean also i think you know in the

00:03:11.400 stories we were making we were making pretty crazy stories you know one is about um a guy who

00:03:18.920 goes to a barista and they put in he asked for a splash of milk and they basically give him like a

00:03:24.120 cup of milk and so he's like hey can you remake this and the barista is really rude and so then the guy

00:03:31.480 kills everybody in the right well i mean we've all been there bro yeah it's like wish fulfillment 0.84

00:03:40.840 everybody has encountered a retail person where you're like i'm gonna kill this guy yeah i want 0.97

00:03:45.240 to and everybody else yeah exactly all of you so that was like the fantasy of the story and then

00:03:51.320 they were like hey this is pretty violent i was like yeah that's the whole point yeah it's a violent

00:03:54.920 fantasy um and then they let it go i mean i rip a guy's jaw out of his face in the thing so pride 0.98

00:04:00.280 deserves i've learned not to fuck with my baristas though man i know you should never 0.99

00:04:03.720 fuck with people that fuck with your food food specifically but like you know the they them's 0.99

00:04:07.720 like bro like they'll get you the day them bro listen they will get you bro like i've learned just 1.00

00:04:11.640 leave it alone even if it is up i'll just leave it alone man you just leave it alone the problem is

00:04:15.800 dude is the day them's will get you for for not being a day them my my they like me well that's

00:04:21.480 because you're uh black that's true i'm bipod yeah no i do get to pass yeah you definitely get a

00:04:27.960 better treatment than we do it's oh how things have changed 0.96

00:04:35.160 it's a little different now yeah it's a little different now um dude that's sick i was thinking

00:04:40.200 before the show though like because there was first of all bad thoughts is awesome oh thanks man it is

00:04:45.560 absolutely if you guys have not seen that yet you need to go watch it like right now please um it's

00:04:50.600 definitely in line with our audience for sure oh dude yeah we're no stranger to crash the

00:04:56.920 fucking line well i want to ask on that like how did so were these just like how much i want to okay 0.98

00:05:03.000 that's my question is how much of that stuff was like real shit that actually happened to you or like 0.99

00:05:07.720 are these like or was it just like okay like let's just create the funniest shit we can possibly think 0.96

00:05:11.640 of i mean there's is there some reality in there you know like the coffee thing came is like it's like

00:05:17.080 this cathartic thing to to write because you go like it came from the the whole thing where i'd seen

00:05:23.000 so many times i'd go hey can i get a splash of milk and i'd see them go like one two three four i'm like

00:05:27.960 you don't know what a fucking splash is like a splash is a splash you know and so you know you can 0.94

00:05:35.560 talk about that you can think about that but the most fun thing to do is to write a story where you go 0.99

00:05:42.360 this thing happens to me all the time yeah here's like a different version of how you know it's like

00:05:48.040 it's a fantasy right yeah so sure so it's a it's a war plan right yeah but it's also like it's like

00:05:53.000 the healthiest way to channel like those feelings and emotions you go like well you can just complain

00:05:59.560 about it or you can like write a story about this fantasy so that's like one version of a story right i mean

00:06:07.400 there's a bunch of different ones in there like there's the me with the twins i don't know if you

00:06:13.000 so that's the black and white one where i just had this i i had this idea where i was like hey what if

00:06:19.560 we do one where a woman uh sees me in a window and tells me to like waves me in and then what i pitched

00:06:27.880 was the woman is drop dead gorgeous and then she's like do you want to have sex with me and i go yeah 1.00

00:06:34.440 and she goes okay well first you have to somebody as gross as you and i go what 0.99

00:06:41.880 and then what we were going to do was have a woman come in and we were going to deep fake 1.00

00:06:47.240 my face on her so that it would be a sex scene between me and me you know like that was the idea 1.00

00:06:53.720 and then one of the other directors rami hashash he was like what if it was a conjoined twin oh and i was

00:07:00.600 like oh and i liked it more so we wrote the story so i play joseph who looks like me and then i also 0.80

00:07:09.800 play the the twin on the back of her on her back growing up and so then i do kind of have sex with 0.94

00:07:16.040 me like that was the whole it so these were just i mean it's no different than you know every other day 0.98

00:07:21.560 yeah friday night for me yeah yeah you know so they were all like they came from all these different

00:07:28.840 places but yeah it was all a lot of it came from that writer's room just like throwing ideas which

00:07:33.880 is like the writer's room is like this where you just sit down you have a board everyone's writing

00:07:38.200 shit down and you're pitching and then every few i don't know every hour or something you go like oh 0.95

00:07:43.240 shit and then when you get excited you're like i'll be back and you run out you just sit and write and 0.99

00:07:48.200 write and then you bring it back to the room and you guys read it together and it's like it's a very 0.98

00:07:52.840 fun like kind of atmosphere just like a hangout it's like a hangout with like super funny comedy

00:07:58.440 writers and like it's the best because you you're getting like eight nine different people's minds

00:08:03.960 on the thing and then you kind of you know you end up there's no you you let your ego go you don't go

00:08:10.040 like well this was my idea you yeah it's whoever has the best idea that you kind of go like that's it

00:08:15.560 yeah yeah i mean dude that's you know that's in line with anything i think great right yeah for

00:08:20.280 sure great leaders you're you know you're the leader of your team it's it's you know it's about

00:08:25.720 picking the the best product not the idea a hundred percent and like i think a production

00:08:31.400 like a show is not unlike kind of running a company in a way where the best thing you can do

00:08:39.240 is try to surround yourself with the best talent like you want the you're like i want the best

00:08:44.280 production designer you know director of photography like all these people that are

00:08:49.080 in charge of different departments and you want people to like be great yeah you're like 0.92

00:08:53.800 fucking go kill it yeah like your ideas yeah like let's let's hear them let's do them i think that's 0.96

00:08:59.800 the difference between you know uh i mean dude you know a gazillion entrepreneurs and and i really 0.99

00:09:06.280 think that's the the biggest difference between great entrepreneurs great business people yeah and and

00:09:12.040 shitty ones is like the shitty ones think that they have to have all the ideas and they don't 0.99

00:09:16.360 want to surround themselves without people yeah and the great ones are like fuck dude everybody's 0.99

00:09:20.920 smarter than me here that's right like that's what i i want everybody to be smarter than me that's i mean 0.95

00:09:26.280 if i have like any gift in what i do it's identifying great people yeah and being like hey come work with

00:09:33.160 me yeah you know like that's that's what i try to do well is i i go like i'm okay you're great yeah

00:09:40.040 you come work with me like that's what i want to do is yeah have great people around yeah bro and and

00:09:45.400 you know it's it's interesting because like people will come here and they you know they're like oh dude

00:09:50.440 you know everything's so cool you're doing such i'm like bro it's them yeah these guys are good you

00:09:55.720 know so i always feel like a little bit guilty because i'm like i get a lot of the credit but my team is

00:09:59.800 fucking amazing i feel like that with the the show entirely it's like it's my face and my name 0.83

00:10:04.840 yeah and everybody kind of like goes like it's you you you and i'm like well it's partially me but 0.95

00:10:09.720 the reason it is what it is is like these 50 other people do you look at it like uh do you look at

00:10:15.400 it like hey man this is just my role on the team yeah i mean i feel like um yeah you know you have

00:10:21.400 a role i think in you know the thing is like it's so different like stand-up is so singular

00:10:27.000 right it really literally is just you you write the stuff you perform it yeah you hold a mic and

00:10:33.480 it's just you on stage and it's a very kind of like the only way a tour works is with a team but

00:10:39.560 stand-up is very singular but a show or a movie is the absolute polar opposite it's like it's like

00:10:47.880 running a business right where you're like maybe you're the in this case like the ceo of it but then

00:10:53.400 you have to hire an entire team and you if if you are like no no no everything runs through me

00:11:00.120 whatever you make is definitely gonna suck yeah you know you really have to like empower people and go

00:11:04.760 like you run this too and you kind of you run your department you you know you have to let them

00:11:12.280 encourage them to like take over in what they do that's the only way a tv or or or film like tv show

00:11:20.600 or film is going to be entertaining well you you you run your own media right like you you have

00:11:26.280 everything yeah we we have like uh ymh studios yeah um so like we produce a lot of podcasts we

00:11:32.120 produced the show bad thoughts uh we're producing a feature film so yeah it's you know it runs through

00:11:38.920 our company but it's all about like hiring great people yeah yeah for sure thousand percent

00:11:45.000 sick man well i thought uh something else was interesting time though we've i've been noticing too

00:11:49.640 you you've had like a transformation journey oh a little bit a little bit of a glow up yeah let's

00:11:55.000 talk about it yeah well okay sure let's talk about i mean because i mean well dude it's like a group

00:11:59.480 effort man you got jelly roll down uh yeah you know 200 pounds down 200 pounds yeah dude he looks

00:12:05.960 fucking great i just saw him in concert this past tuesday at bush stadium with uh post malone he looks 0.80

00:12:11.400 amazing yeah well we did the 5k two weeks ago yeah and i hadn't seen him in person since the 5k 0.95

00:12:18.280 the previous year which was like almost exactly a year to the day and he was down 130 from 130

00:12:25.560 pounds from last may and 200 overall and then at the 5k he was like next year at the 5k i want to be

00:12:33.880 down another 100 i want to be 240 he'll do it i totally believe dude i'm glad he's doing that bro

00:12:39.000 because like he's such he's so good at what he does and all i was thinking when he was like big big was 0.95

00:12:44.600 like fuck it's gonna be another dude that that dies yeah i know i mean also i'll tell you this 0.95

00:12:49.880 like so we got to raymond james where the bucks play that's where we had the 5k and you know like 0.99

00:12:57.000 last year we did the rose bowl and so they had us start in the parking lot in pasadena and they laid

00:13:02.520 out this track like on side streets right and then you kind of run back through this parking lot and i was

00:13:07.080 like i was imagining something like that i don't know the layout of raymond james stadium right so i just

00:13:12.760 show up and they're like hey there's a lot of uphill and i go what do you mean and they're like

00:13:17.880 well it's they made it all within the stadium well the only way to hit 3.1 miles in the stadium

00:13:24.520 is you kind of follow this path and then you take the corridor like the ramps down and then you take

00:13:30.120 them up nine stories all up no right and then you go across the stadium down again and then up again so

00:13:36.280 i was like yo this is like half a mile that's just all incline which like you know well that's hard

00:13:43.880 enough to do when you drink a beer all day it's hard enough to do honestly like if you're like

00:13:49.080 if you're like moderately fit yeah right and so like when i heard he was coming because i knew he

00:13:55.480 was coming but they were like he's coming later this afternoon because he had flown in from a show

00:13:59.560 we were out there i was like yeah i don't know if he can do this man right we were like you know he's

00:14:04.760 still a big dude yeah and then i was thinking like cardio and knees i was like man it's going

00:14:09.400 to be 90 by the time he degrees outside by the time he gets here and i go this is like all incline

00:14:15.000 so i was like actually worried and then like when he got there i was like all right well you know i

00:14:20.440 don't know if we'd tell him or he crushed it yeah he did it at 340 like all these inclines and

00:14:29.320 yeah he crushed it yeah that sounds like camelback mountain for us oh yeah 0.99

00:14:33.000 fuck that bro you ever did camelback in arizona no don't okay yeah bro that was miserable yeah dude 0.99

00:14:40.920 that was fucking miserable we got uh we got half dude we we started so we had this big event there 1.00

00:14:46.680 was like a couple hundred people like a like a group thing sort of like a group run club right 0.97

00:14:50.920 yeah and they were all meeting down there to do camelback and dj and i got up early we had been

00:14:55.000 fucking drinking all night and i was like all right let's get there early so we can like 0.89

00:14:59.400 get like up the mountain so nobody sees us dying right yeah i knew it was gonna be we were polling 0.99

00:15:04.440 people before you know what i'm saying i think that's where we're up at because we're polling

00:15:07.640 people and it was like a 50 50 like hey how is it and we either got it was death or it was the easiest

00:15:13.160 fucking thing they've ever done yeah you know i think that's what we up at because like i'm like 0.77

00:15:16.840 we didn't really know what to expect i will say there's this thing i mean it's not like a new 0.99

00:15:21.080 observation but like when you're doing it because when i was doing the actual this run i feel like if i had

00:15:27.080 been just alone i'd been like man this yeah oh yeah the fact that there's like thousands of people

00:15:33.160 yeah and you can't you start for you you hit that turn and you see the i had no idea that it was nine

00:15:39.160 incline ramps up i was like mother and then you just you just do it yeah you're just your pressure

00:15:45.160 it's pure the peer pressure really does help and then i found like i'm on this path like you know

00:15:52.280 it's all mapped out and i see this guy and he's like shirtless and kind of yoked like like midway

00:16:01.720 and he's let's say i don't know a hundred yards behind me and then i got it in my head i was like

00:16:07.160 i can't let this hot guy pass me so every time i would like wrap around and i'd see him coming i was

00:16:14.440 like you cannot let this guy beat you and then you just like keep running hard and every time i was like

00:16:19.480 man i want to like slow down catch my breath i'd be like that hot guy's gonna beat you 1.00

00:16:24.600 and then it's just gonna it's gonna make you upset so i just and i told him afterwards i was like

00:16:29.800 i didn't want you to pass me man he was like really i was like yeah dude like he was my motivation but

00:16:36.040 i feel like if i was alone you'd just be like i'm tired i'll stop yeah we started like 30 45 minutes

00:16:41.160 before oh yeah i didn't want to see everybody see me die bro yeah so like i got like i wanted to get 0.98

00:16:45.720 like halfway up before we started this motherfucker shows up with walking sticks like he's and all this 0.98

00:16:52.200 equipment like he's going up mount everest be prepared yeah you know what i'm saying so we get 0.97

00:16:56.440 like we we we're like dude legit we're like struggling we're it's hard we're like up there and i'm like

00:17:01.960 we gotta be this we gotta be close and he and he taps me on the shoulder and he points up at the thing 0.99

00:17:08.680 and i see this like little line of what looks like fucking ants like go and i'm like fuck yeah 0.94

00:17:16.200 so so dude i'm like dude me never stand there i'm like dude maybe we should just go back down 0.98

00:17:22.680 no one's up here and right as i said that dude the group was coming up they're like andy are you on

00:17:27.720 your way down and i'm like fuck yeah so we ended up doing it but how far is that is that dude it was 0.94

00:17:34.280 i don't know it was like it's just like straight up bro but it's three miles yeah yeah and it's like 0.95

00:17:40.680 you know there's not a path bro like you're like using your hands and trying to find a way i'm not

00:17:44.840 built for that no dude yeah i was not big boy friendly yeah but uh but no dude your transformation

00:17:49.880 has been sick man thanks man i mean i think it's probably like and you know like anything where

00:17:55.720 it's just kind of what you prioritize yeah you know like you think you think you prioritize things

00:18:00.280 then you realize that just thinking about it is not a priority like you have to do things so

00:18:06.520 i think i just put more of an emphasis on uh training more and you know like eating is obviously

00:18:12.600 like such a big thing especially when you travel for a living because you're just in different cities

00:18:17.480 and you know you are hotel gyms and hotel gyms i mean food is is i think for us the biggest thing

00:18:25.640 right because like when i started my career as a stand-up doing the road you know comedy

00:18:32.120 clubs are notorious for like you know it's bad food it's not good for you it's like it's mozzarella

00:18:37.560 sticks and chicken wings and and that's kind of and we're there late and that was just like

00:18:42.360 i don't know i'm 23 you don't even think about it you just start eating that and then

00:18:47.480 10 years go by and you're like you've gained 50 pounds and but you're also just like and this is

00:18:52.200 what it is you just kind of resign to like you know i'm up late i sleep in we eat like

00:18:57.880 shit i'm on the road i'm a comedian who cares and then all of a sudden you're like approaching 40 and 0.96

00:19:03.080 you're like what am i doing with my life you know like you're just kind of a mess really you're on a

00:19:09.000 you're on a path that you realize can go a certain way and i think especially in comedy like we kind of

00:19:15.560 like romanticize it we're like like we make it cool to be a slob like i'm a comic you laugh about

00:19:22.040 yeah you're like who cares we drink beer and eat like and sleep in but then you're like

00:19:27.720 yeah like you don't have to do that you know to to do stand up like it's not a prerequisite

00:19:33.880 even though you kind of let yourself yeah it's a justification yeah you justify it and then you're

00:19:38.840 just like i don't know then you just hit a certain point where you're like this is not a great way to

00:19:44.600 live like you can take care of yourself and then i think the biggest thing is you end up you know people

00:19:50.280 always see you physically transform but you just feel so much better you know like you physically

00:19:54.760 and mentally you're like i'm thinking more clearly i feel better i'm happy like you're probably able

00:20:00.040 to create better oh my god like now i i tell people it's like a lot of my days are really slammed with

00:20:06.920 like you know 100 things right and i go when i come into my office we have like recordings and

00:20:14.840 interviews and add things and then like you know we're going to shoot things and we got meetings it's

00:20:19.000 like a full day i i've learned that if i work out first like before i go in i'm just like a so much 0.98

00:20:26.920 better version of myself like i come in and like sometimes like even staff are like damn like you're 0.66

00:20:32.920 in a good mood and i'm like yeah i just came from the gym like i feel good and then i i actually feel

00:20:37.560 like i have energy for that day yeah whereas opposed the other way of like where i just show up i feel

00:20:43.080 like i'm dragging that day yeah and dude i did the exact same about two years ago i fit i would 0.69

00:20:49.080 come in here because we always talk about what the fuck's going on in the world and i get super pissed 0.93

00:20:52.520 off yeah and like i would come in here bro and like i'd be so fucking pissed off and then i figured 0.97

00:20:58.680 out if i trained right before like i was that's you know what i was doing right before this i trained

00:21:03.960 right before even though i still get pissed yeah like it's it's like it's like not nuclear it's like

00:21:09.640 it's it's tolerable yeah you need it you need it dude it's yeah yeah i think we all you know

00:21:16.280 everybody thinks of uh or a lot of people think of that as just like like working out as just like

00:21:21.800 for your muscles you know of like oh you're trying to get stronger whatever which is obviously good

00:21:26.280 for you but i think the what it does to you mentally totally is is like there's there's like there's just

00:21:32.600 just the fog of sleep goes away yeah things just fire faster and i actually literally feel happier

00:21:41.880 me too like i actually i'm in a better mood yeah you know i'm not like a naturally happy person yeah

00:21:47.160 so i have to like like i you know actually to be real dude like naturally happy people kind of

00:21:52.600 fucking annoy me yeah like i'm like what the fuck is wrong with this person you have before yeah dude 0.98

00:21:57.080 like but but are you russian or something no i do i don't know like i don't know i'm sicilian but 0.99

00:22:03.720 like i don't i don't know what it is bro like the chipper people you don't talk yeah i know it's like 0.99

00:22:09.480 fuck man yeah what the fuck did i do wrong i know you know so but yeah dude working out does it man 0.96

00:22:15.960 like it definitely helps me a lot it's so did you guys like all get together and like who was the 0.99

00:22:21.720 ringleader of of this i think it was like a slow burt lost a shit ton too didn't he he's he yeah he 0.78

00:22:29.320 has he goes up and down quite a bit yeah uh so like he was he he trimmed down and what look was

00:22:35.880 looking great in his special that he shot he shot it in november so it's been like you know six seven

00:22:41.720 months and in just those six seven months i think he's put on like 30 plus pounds yeah uh but he also

00:22:49.480 you know he's he's kind of a he's a weird athlete too like he's somebody where if he was like all

00:22:56.280 right today i'm just gonna clean it up you know in two weeks he'd be down 15 pounds yeah and like he

00:23:02.600 just bounces back real quick and then he falls off because he just where i relate to the parties like

00:23:08.840 he you know it's fun he's on the road he drinks he eats like a psycho and then he gains all this weight

00:23:15.480 and then he just like pivots back now i think it's you know the older you get you're more like

00:23:19.640 dude this is crazy like just hang out in one weight group yeah but uh but yeah he just does that for me

00:23:26.440 i just feel like i i still can gain and lose but i have like a a tighter window yeah where i if i'm

00:23:35.160 like right now i feel like i'm at my max i'm like reining it in being like oh this is too much you know

00:23:41.000 what i mean like yeah i don't want it to go you know what it's like to let it go exactly how much

00:23:45.480 work it takes i'm not gonna do another 10 20 like i'll reign it in now yeah it took me till i was 0.97

00:23:50.840 about 40 to figure that out dude yeah it took me the same yeah yeah i was like fuck this is not worth 0.78

00:23:55.720 it because i would get in shape and then i would go like i would get down to like 250 which is in shape 0.94

00:24:00.760 for me and then i would fucking be 350 and then i would be 250 and then i did that like three or four 0.98

00:24:06.520 times yeah fuck i think it's i mean yeah there's a certain age where you're like i can't do this 0.98

00:24:11.000 like it's not it's just not good but i don't know man it has to stay on your mind like nothing will 0.98

00:24:16.280 nothing will just like happen you know like i feel like a lot of people they're like

00:24:21.720 the the the curse of it is that you can think about it all day and not do anything yeah do you

00:24:28.120 know what i mean like there's people who like wake up and they go i'm really unhappy physically like

00:24:33.000 with my body and all this and go to bed with the same thoughts and like not change anything

00:24:38.040 right like this forever forever yeah it's like a version of insanity yeah and then they end up 0.92

00:24:43.320 telling about it they end up selling themselves on some fucking like oh well this is just the way 0.83

00:24:48.040 always trying to find a way around yeah it's like i yeah i mean you eventually get tired of telling 0.97

00:24:53.640 yourself that you get tired of telling it and you just go you also just accept that like okay man like

00:24:59.000 i'm gonna have to eat this way yeah if i want to eat the other way then you accept what comes with

00:25:04.520 it right so yeah it's a lot of like yeah man lean protein and you know it's like i want the pasta

00:25:11.640 but i'm like no yeah and then the workouts i feel like are um they're not like i don't resist the work

00:25:19.720 like i like the workout but the work of it i think is you still have to find the time you know like 0.85

00:25:25.160 that's a big challenge especially when you're on the fucking road dude yeah you got to find the time 0.86

00:25:28.360 so a lot of it is just like i mean that's why great like sean comes with me is that you know 0.96

00:25:34.280 sometimes i'm like well i guess there's not enough time to work out and then he'll be like what the

00:25:38.120 fuck are you talking about we can just go right now yeah like okay like that kind of yeah yeah dude 0.92

00:25:42.920 because the truth of the matter is yeah even a 30 minute quick workout is still get the job done 1.00

00:25:48.600 man in terms of like clearing your mind if you hit it yeah you can make 30 minutes go a long way

00:25:53.240 yeah for sure definitely that's real man well uh one of the other things we so we talk a lot about

00:25:57.800 like you know culture stuff things are happening right now right um and you know since we have

00:26:04.200 a fucking global figure in comedy i wanted to try to i guess ask you what's your take on 0.92

00:26:10.200 cancel culture in comedy and where have you seen the ebbs and flows go in that i mean i feel like the big 0.93

00:26:18.520 conversation piece of that was like a few years ago when that idea kind of floated but i also feel

00:26:27.960 like it's kind of here here's the difference between the world today and 30 years ago like 30 years ago

00:26:38.280 if you were a comedian or somebody and you said some that upset people um maybe there'd be a news

00:26:45.560 story about it but it's mostly that somebody like it would mostly be somebody was mad they would just

00:26:51.560 tell somebody else like there's no way you knew they were mad but there's also no way that back

00:26:56.760 then people weren't mad about you know what i mean like you just the difference is today

00:27:02.680 we have all these devices where people can tell you that they're mad about what you said and i feel like

00:27:09.960 like a like some like a lot of comedians will be like oh you know like they're they're complaining

00:27:16.120 that someone's upset about what they did and you're like yeah that's part of the thing dude

00:27:19.640 like you're you can't you can't be a comedian who goes i'm gonna say whatever i want to say

00:27:26.120 and it's not cool if somebody gets upset you're like that's how it works like you know i mean like

00:27:31.720 you're you're the one who's actually being super complaining right now like you have to let people

00:27:37.800 say that they don't like what you said like that's the exchange i'm gonna say some 0.97

00:27:43.080 shit and like yeah you every comedian wants you to love everything they said that's just the way it 0.96

00:27:48.440 goes even the ones who they all want you to so some of them are just complaining that hey people got 1.00

00:27:55.320 mad about this that's bullshit you're like no that's part of how it goes like you're the complaining 0.99

00:28:00.200 little bitch right now right right because you're upset that people are upset because my thing is like 1.00

00:28:05.560 like what where is somebody really being canceled in in stand-up let's say i'm talking in the comedy 0.99

00:28:12.040 space because some of them will be like oh i can't say this like yes you can sure you just can't

00:28:16.920 dictate that everyone will love it you know dude that whole saying of you can't say this is so

00:28:22.600 fucking annoying it's a it's a tired trope now yeah like oh dude they won't let us say who won't let 0.91

00:28:28.600 you say that you won't let you what they're really saying is they're like i'm i'm mad that some people 0.97

00:28:34.680 are mad about what i said it's like that's the exchange bro i've never seen someone get canceled

00:28:41.240 that didn't come out bigger i've never seen it happen yeah because it's like it's a made up kind

00:28:46.280 of like you're not really canceled i mean are there a few examples probably i can't even really like 0.83

00:28:54.520 where you go you said some shit and now you can't get work yeah because that's really what 0.88

00:28:59.400 canceled means yeah right and i think look yeah there i mean yeah there's a people the worst people 0.99

00:29:05.000 i think in society are people who go like you said something i'm going to try to contact your 0.99

00:29:15.240 employers yeah so that you lose your job that's a weak piece of shit that person that's that is the 0.99

00:29:22.280 worst and i and i have like zero respect for the person that goes i don't like some something 1.00

00:29:28.200 somebody said i'm going to try to make this person lose their light like their livelihood that's insane

00:29:34.760 yeah but i'm like in comedy like who's who's stopping you from selling tickets bro like say whatever

00:29:42.040 you want to say also if you don't if you stop selling tickets that's on you yeah that's not like

00:29:47.640 somebody attacking you you just suck the market is dictating why you're not selling it so i just 0.87

00:29:54.040 don't really buy that like comics are being canceled i really think that like if you say wild 0.98

00:30:01.400 and it's really funny guess what people will be like that was really funny so it was crazy let's be

00:30:06.680 real dude like the best comedians in history the best stand-ups in history when you go back in like

00:30:12.600 the 80s like eddie murphy before he was like a dad on tv you know the guy was

00:30:17.880 raw oh yeah and like delirious and like bro go like these kids these days with their little 0.99

00:30:24.040 fucking vaginas like go watch that bro like and you know what you know what like then you look at 1.00

00:30:29.640 chapelle like when he was doing a chapelle show and like yeah these things made culture stronger 1.00

00:30:35.000 because it taught us that we could all laugh at each other and make fun of each other well the chapelle

00:30:39.000 example too which was like great was that like he put out a special and then everyone you know

00:30:45.720 there was people like walking out of netflix and like it was all in the news and people were calling

00:30:50.360 him transphobic and they were like oh he's being canceled and you're like what are you talking about

00:30:55.960 like i mean you go to the show i went to a show with him the following week oh yeah i was at i was at

00:31:03.240 i was i was opening on that show and there was 18 000 people at the show yeah and you're like yeah

00:31:09.640 i don't think this cancellation is like working this is awesome that's right people were like over

00:31:16.280 using that term and it's like you know i don't he doesn't need me to defend him but it was like one

00:31:21.720 of those things where i'm like no no like you're saying he's being canceled what you're what really

00:31:27.000 happening is that some people are really pissed about something he said and that's fine like

00:31:32.760 that's how the world works like not everyone's going to be like yay for everything you say but

00:31:39.400 he's definitely not canceled like yeah he just had you know there's a he's he's doing stand-up in an

00:31:45.480 nba arena right now and there's it's completely sold out like i think it's working out yeah yeah no 0.94

00:31:51.240 shit makes it worse too bro because like they're like dave chapelle comedian says you know trans 1.00

00:31:56.280 people aren't whatever it's like he's a fucking comedian well the reason it's funny is because 1.00

00:32:00.200 it's true bro like that's the thing like it's true that's what that's why comedy's funny it's 0.96

00:32:06.120 true you're able to say truths that everybody's thinking about everybody knows and just laugh about

00:32:10.840 that's why it's so important to culture man like everybody's you know all this tension and 0.95

00:32:14.840 shit this comes from people being too serious about shit and taking things too too much to heart 0.97

00:32:21.880 like a lot of times the people that are the most upset about these like stand-up things 0.99

00:32:26.760 the funny thing is not only have they not been to see that stand-up live sometimes they don't even

00:32:33.000 watch the special and they write the article yeah so it's like they're not even actually they haven't

00:32:39.960 seen they haven't seen the actual performance what they'll do is they'll read an excerpt like literally

00:32:47.800 like read it so they just are reading the written word and then they write an article about that 0.97

00:32:53.080 which is like it's just this click-baity bullshit man it's not real it's the world we live in it's 0.83

00:32:58.520 not real it's like it's it's like this manufactured thing where like then people read that person's 0.97

00:33:05.080 article who also haven't seen the thing and the funny thing is all those people that are like the

00:33:10.840 most upset dude they wouldn't go to that show anyway never buy it they're just commenting on

00:33:15.240 some shit because it makes them feel like they're doing something to to express how wrong these other 0.63

00:33:22.280 people are and it's like dude they're not even going like it's all just my point is it's just all 0.99

00:33:27.320 noise like it's just this sideshow thing that's not you can be distracted by it or the better thing you

00:33:33.240 do is you just ignore it and you just realize that like it is somebody trying to get attention for

00:33:38.360 themselves it has nothing to do with what they don't have anything creatively to create on their own so 0.87

00:33:42.600 they it's it's like all their fucking reaction videos on the internet which some of them i like 0.99

00:33:46.760 but like dude some of these motherfuckers their whole fucking thing is all i do is react to other 1.00

00:33:51.560 people's like bro that's not creation of anything no i know you know and and that's like a cheap way 1.00

00:33:56.920 to get attention in my opinion yeah it's like yeah that that is a whole lane but yeah it's it goes like

00:34:02.760 those people you see the reaction video so you know what it is half of the people that write articles

00:34:08.120 they're doing reaction articles yeah and they don't even watch the thing to react yeah they just

00:34:14.520 pick a word and they go i'm gonna write an article about this yeah like okay it's crazy man so you're

00:34:19.160 so you're on tour right now um i was looking at the like it's a long tour you're going on for

00:34:25.400 this two years it's a two-year tour um i i you know my last tour was actually even busier

00:34:31.320 um but this one is like uh yeah i mean you basically hit every major north american market

00:34:39.800 and then you select other global markets to do and you take your time like i like to take my time

00:34:45.800 like there's no point of like rushing a tour yeah so it's like yeah i'll just take a couple years

00:34:50.840 you know i'll uh next week is my last week of spring tour and then i take most of the summer off okay

00:34:58.760 so it's like you know get some rest hang out with the family pick up in the fall i'll shoot it in the

00:35:05.320 next special in the fall and then next year 26 i just have like some things to film but i won't

00:35:11.640 actually like tour tour so it'll be like a much different like schedule for me well what's the

00:35:17.400 best and worst cities you've uh you've had to do stand up well the funny thing about you ain't got

00:35:21.960 to say st louis it's fine no no no the funny thing about picking back best and worst is that

00:35:26.840 you learn over the course of time that sometimes you have a bad show in a city and then you go

00:35:33.880 this city sucks for stand-up and it really was just that night you know i mean yeah or like conversely

00:35:39.880 you'll go this city is great and so in your mind you go it'll be great and then you show up and the 0.97

00:35:45.720 show is like okay and you're like what happened it's like those things those can change year after

00:35:51.080 year you can go to a place where it was great and it's bad and bad now it's great i think what you

00:35:55.320 fall in love with are cities almost like separate from the show you know what i mean like it's always

00:36:00.520 fun for me to like i love going to denver because i like the city of denver i like i like the atmosphere

00:36:05.880 i like the restaurants like i have a good time and then the shows have usually been really fun for me

00:36:11.320 um it's always fun to i like big cities so i like going to new york um i like doing london i like to you

00:36:18.120 know i mean like but i have a lot of great places that i mean i love the beauty of like like british

00:36:23.800 columbia you know like in the in the northwest like the vancouver area um i just like being in

00:36:30.120 that atmosphere and uh you know chicago's always been like a super fun city for me to go to and

00:36:35.960 like crowds have been fun so i i have fun in a lot of cities man yeah so you're like living life as you

00:36:42.040 go too yeah yeah you're trying to like you know i know a lot of times you don't have time to do that

00:36:46.920 much a lot of times we're doing like thursday one city friday night so you don't really like

00:36:52.440 get to enjoy the city that much yeah but you know sometimes you do have a little more and

00:36:57.960 like like new york for instance i just love the fact that you can walk the streets and you feel like

00:37:03.240 you're in this vibrant city you know it doesn't matter what time it doesn't matter i love that too

00:37:07.080 it's like it's and it charges you it charges you up and i'm usually there for like a couple days

00:37:11.640 so it's just so different than where i live in austin and i mean i've been going to new york like most

00:37:17.400 of my life and it's just you know it's just still like the greatest city to visit and and have fun

00:37:23.080 in totally agree dude it's my favorite place to go to for the exact same reason like dude you can

00:37:27.240 walk out on the street at 2 30 in the morning bro and it's like it's noon and also like you realize

00:37:33.560 that it is funny that you can literally bring up anything and they're like oh yeah we have a store

00:37:39.240 you want elephant's feet yeah we have that okay like anything that you bring up like new york

00:37:44.680 hat any cuisine any type of store whatever you're looking for like you can be like i want pencils or

00:37:51.160 you know i want yeah pens made from metal that are crafted from the 18th century like yeah there's

00:37:57.080 a store over here yeah you have that like anything you want that city has which is like it just feels

00:38:02.440 like you're i don't know like in this manufactured city almost like it almost doesn't feel real for me

00:38:08.600 still what's your favorite place to do to work outside of uh outside of the us besides london well i

00:38:14.360 mean i when i started like touring as a stand-up i i would do canada that was like the first place

00:38:21.000 to to to leave the country even though it's not that big of a departure and it was always fun to

00:38:26.440 to do those shows up there um australia has great just they're very fun people like australians are fun

00:38:34.680 so i think it translates to their crowds like i've had a lot of really fun shows in australia the

00:38:40.680 people and the cities are are great um but i've done you know i've done stand-up in uh south america

00:38:47.800 in argentina in chile i've done mexico city um i've done a lot of european cities and i've done

00:38:54.760 asia too i've done tokyo hong kong singapore so all those like the asia tour it was just so cool because

00:39:04.360 those cities are so different than what we're used to and like the food is unbelievable i've

00:39:11.000 never had better food in my life than in tokyo i had i knew that it would be good i didn't know that

00:39:17.560 like did you know what it was though well yeah yeah i didn't know like how amazing uh let like you order a

00:39:27.480 salad in tokyo and like every bite you're like this is the best salad i've ever had that's crazy

00:39:34.520 and then they're like you order a fruit plate and you take a bite of a strawberry and you're like

00:39:38.920 what the and then you realize like how poisoned our food is in this country which is like one of

00:39:44.520 the most backwards things you're like why is our food so bad you know we're just spraying everything 0.98

00:39:49.160 with pesticides and then in tokyo i mean i'm not kidding dude like you just you order an omelet

00:39:56.760 or like in the hotel you're tired like we're not going to go out to a nice crazy we're just going to

00:40:01.480 go like here in the hotel in the lobby and you order a sirloin steak and you're taking you're like 0.99

00:40:05.960 this is the best fucking steak i've ever had in my entire life like every meal was like that damn 0.97

00:40:10.200 everything we had we were like this is amongst the best food i've ever had and it was every day no 0.99

00:40:16.520 matter what we had and then you order a cup of coffee and you're like jesus christ this is the

00:40:19.800 best coffee i've ever had in my life that's what it was like to eat in tokyo yeah yeah it was

00:40:24.360 incredible tokyo man i like food i've never been to asia at all oh dude let me tell you man like

00:40:30.040 there's there's a lot but first of all i should say there's a lot i haven't seen but in the place

00:40:34.600 those those places that i've been i mean hong kong is a spectacle it is like new york roided up like

00:40:42.120 it literally you like you think you're seeing the downtown skyline and then you go like around this

00:40:48.120 bend and you see something like 20 times more buildings and you're like what has happened like

00:40:52.360 it's this massive thriving alive city not that tokyo isn't but the thing that stands out from tokyo is

00:40:59.640 like the japanese people the culture you know everybody in japan like the cashier at the 7-eleven

00:41:09.000 takes great pride in being in his in their job and you like you sense it you know i mean there is no

00:41:16.040 like i don't know man yeah i can throw like there is none of that people have like so you this this

00:41:21.480 whole japanese culture and way of being like it really is impressive you know the the pride people

00:41:28.520 take in excellence it's all about the reason like some of those foods are so great is they're like yeah

00:41:33.240 that guy he makes coffee and he's done that for 45 years he takes pride and he takes so much pride in

00:41:39.160 it it's like this meticulous like perfect thing and you see that kind of in all parts of life they are

00:41:45.240 like gracious like for a city with so many people a lot of people i mean you know on the morning commute

00:41:51.960 like there's this famous thing you can find online of like the rush of the subway and you don't like

00:41:58.840 it's all organized there's no like people like off and like being like they're like oh yeah no one's

00:42:04.760 being an asshole because they know it's rude to be an in the you know what i mean like in the morning 0.82

00:42:09.880 commute like things like that where you're like wow um and then singapore is the cleanest like you know 1.00

00:42:18.280 like may almost make and it's because they beat people's asses yeah they don't around yeah bro yeah 1.00

00:42:23.400 they fucking cane your ass bare ass right in front of the whole thing when you land in singapore 0.99

00:42:28.600 where there's signs and you're going up you're walking up to do um you know uh customs and it's 1.00

00:42:34.280 just like drugs punishable by death oh jesus christ it's like it's like all over and then they hand

00:42:40.600 you the form and it's like we will kill you for drugs and then you're like filling it out and you're 0.67

00:42:45.480 like do i have any drugs on me you start to panic you're like i gotta go through my backpack real 0.96

00:42:54.920 quick because what if i have like a edible on me they're like oh they will hang you yeah like oh 0.87

00:43:00.840 shit but then you get into that city and you it's like i mean it's like it's the cleanest place you've

00:43:06.280 ever been people again super polite it's just it's a it's a really cool experience i mean i can't 0.98

00:43:12.920 encourage you enough to do an asia trip yeah that'd be sick dude i got invited to uh by one

00:43:19.000 of the guys on instagram he runs like all the elephant reserves and he invited us to go over 0.85

00:43:23.640 there and uh let's go see the elephants that'd be cool man let's go elephants are fucking sweet

00:43:29.240 they're big yeah well they're smart too bro yeah super smart yeah hope i don't get like confused for

00:43:34.840 one you could you probably be able to ride one man i know you can't ride a horse okay i can ride a 0.99

00:43:41.720 fucking horse no you can't oh you fucking kill the horse um time you got you got two two boys 0.99

00:43:49.400 right i have two boys yeah they're not like little kids though right six and nine oh it's just young 1.00

00:43:54.840 yeah that's young that's right has that changed like your outlook on comedy at all um the shit you 0.96

00:44:00.520 talk about maybe i mean it's for sure you talk about it because excuse me uh i i always felt like 0.90

00:44:06.360 you should just talk about whatever's going on actually happening yeah so like you know when

00:44:12.760 you know your first hour set is you like you're in your 20s it's just like observations and it's like

00:44:19.400 tv shows it's going out you know drinking part whatever and then you know it's like you're you get

00:44:27.640 engaged you're like well i'm gonna talk about that you know like you're married like you know those things

00:44:31.880 that are whatever you're experiencing it's like you know my dad died talk about that you just talk

00:44:36.360 about whatever's happening so like kids sure it's like i don't want to do an hour on having kids but

00:44:43.000 like i always have something because they're they're part of life they're part of my life and uh you know

00:44:49.080 they're two little wild dudes man they're just just ruining everything we have like basically 0.97

00:44:54.200 they're such little shits yeah and they're both in jujitsu and it's just like it's so funny because 0.97

00:45:02.280 the older one he's like i think i'm stronger than you i'm like you're definitely not stronger than me 1.00

00:45:06.600 dude and he's like you want to try i'm like yeah sure i mean you're nine i will fuck you up and then 0.99

00:45:13.320 he'll try to like you know mount me and i'm like just pick him up and put it down he's like oh wow you 0.97

00:45:17.960 definitely you're still stronger i know this doesn't have like uh no expiration date but i'm

00:45:23.560 gonna i'm gonna remind you of this for a while yeah yeah you gotta make it so bad so he doesn't

00:45:27.640 even try it again what's that you gotta make it so bad he doesn't try it again i know he's like he's

00:45:32.200 coming it sounds like he's gonna keep drying it's coming yeah that's what i'm saying every day i get

00:45:36.120 home he takes his shirt off he's like and he goes i'm gonna be so jacked

00:45:42.040 and the thing is he has like these like he's like lean you know i mean like he's already like kind

00:45:46.440 of muscular and i'm like i i don't want to tell him but i'm like yeah you probably are

00:45:50.520 it's coming yeah it's coming yeah man um you're also an author yeah you wrote a book we got uh i

00:45:57.560 like to uh play alone please yeah let's head about well it's a collection of like stories and essays and

00:46:04.360 my first my oldest um he was doing a lot of like two cent two word things when he was like a little

00:46:12.760 kid you know and kind of like mixing around certain words i was like waiting for him to say

00:46:21.640 his first full sentence and then you know i mean like he'd be like i do i know and i'm like oh he's

00:46:30.680 he's not like we were waiting for like that first full sentence when he's like i don't remember man like

00:46:35.320 uh 18 months or two or something like that and then one day i got home and i sat down next to him

00:46:41.800 like in the playroom and he just looked up at me he goes i'd like to play alone please and i was like

00:46:46.680 okay so i was like that was really exciting that you said a full sentence it's also he was like get

00:46:52.680 the out of here um so but the the book is just like a whole collection of stories um you know some of

00:47:00.520 them from my my days on as a comic some of them from before then but like all all types of different

00:47:07.160 stories yeah jeez man what'd you do before that before before comedy before comedy well when i

00:47:14.280 graduated college my actual first first thing i did is i went to boston and i um my friend was doing

00:47:21.400 real estate and he was like he's like this is a crazy easy way to make a lot of money which for like a

00:47:28.040 fresh college grad i couldn't believe it the whole system was that if you boston has 61

00:47:34.040 colleges and universities in the boston metropolitan area which is crazy amazing and all those people

00:47:40.440 need housing and so the way it works is like you just if you work in a real estate office people just

00:47:47.560 come in and they're like i need an apartment and then you show them an apartment i don't know

00:47:52.280 shit about boston i don't know and they're just like here's this one and then if they sign up for 0.75

00:47:57.240 it they have to pay first last and another month equivalent to the real estate office 0.99

00:48:04.120 and then as a agent you get half of that so it's like oh damn you know free money you just bro it 0.81

00:48:09.800 was just like this thing i did it for a few months but it was one of those things where i was like even 0.57

00:48:14.360 though it was like to me it was a ton of i mean i'm 21 and like they're just like here's four thousand

00:48:20.280 dollars here's eight i was like holy shit i was also like oh i know i don't want to do this yeah 0.56

00:48:25.640 it was like a real life lesson because i was like if it was just about the money i should stay here

00:48:30.760 and just keep doing this because it's like a crazy amount of money but i didn't want to do it so then

00:48:34.920 i went to dc and i actually worked for america's most wanted that was like really wait the show the

00:48:41.400 show yeah so i was like out hunting people or what i mean i was a i would i was a researcher so like but

00:48:47.880 they would i had interned there in college and then they offered me a gig and the job was like

00:48:54.520 you had i had to read all these like stories about like fugitives and different crimes and then i would

00:49:02.120 go in like the bullpen and pitch to like our story editor hey we should do we should profile this guy

00:49:09.960 and you give them like the whole story in the background and then they would discuss and then

00:49:14.040 they would go like okay we're going to do that story so then you would be kind of like an associate

00:49:19.080 producer on this particular person and i did that for our my first day was september 10th 2001 oh

00:49:29.160 so yeah it was a monday and and then yeah we kind of started doing some different shit after that 0.75

00:49:38.200 uh and but after three months of like yeah i hope we get him too uh i was like i was like i don't want

00:49:47.320 to do this anymore either so i moved to la and uh my whole my whole desire in moving to la had nothing

00:49:56.760 to do with stand-up i really thought that comedy acting was like what i would do like you know i i had

00:50:04.680 like you know will ferrell and all these guys i was like i want to do that yeah so i kind of went

00:50:08.840 out there with like that objective and i i was going to the groundlings which is like a comedy

00:50:14.360 improv school and troop like they train you and then they put on shows and when i was in that school

00:50:21.400 you know just taking the classes i met other stand-ups who were like they were the ones who were

00:50:26.360 like you should try stand-up they're like yeah i think you would like stand-up and i was like i don't

00:50:29.720 even know what to do and these guys kind of took me around to watch them like hey watch them

00:50:34.520 do i don't know how you even prepare for it and that got me started doing stand-up but i always

00:50:39.960 still wanted to do the the comedy acting thing which is like why the show bad thoughts is uh like so

00:50:49.400 fulfilling to me because i also remember that that was like my first dream like my dream was to do

00:50:55.800 stories yeah you know i mean and so i still love stand like stand-up has been amazing for me and i

00:51:00.760 it is so fun but i always wanted to do that so in my in my head like making this show feels like

00:51:09.240 oh this thing i wanted to do for 20 years you know what i mean like it's it's very fulfilling that's

00:51:13.880 real man dude so i'm i'm a lot younger obviously obviously obviously yeah well i mean i know it's hard

00:51:19.960 to tell you black don't crack you know plus you paint your beard i get it keep going i could be

00:51:24.760 like 40 you know what i'm saying i don't know uh but dude like i remember the first time i heard about 0.87

00:51:31.000 you yeah uh there was a video um at a basketball court oh that's the first time that was the first

00:51:37.800 time like that was like memorable for me yeah that's pretty memorable yeah you know what i'm talking

00:51:42.120 about can we talk about it yeah sure all right so i i got i got the clip uh this is the og clip

00:51:48.680 uh let's watch this clip you've never seen this andy no 0.98

00:51:58.520 oh fuck wait you're not this the best part hasn't happened yet oh man oh 0.97

00:52:09.000 oh fuck pretty bad what kind of injury was that two at the same time it was double whammy so shoulder and 0.99

00:52:15.560 arm no what happens like a lot of people don't know so we had been playing basketball for a while 0.99

00:52:21.320 i mean how the fuck do you even do that man it's pretty crazy actually yeah and so you do that on

00:52:25.160 purpose absolutely not um so what happened was this is the part that like because people only see this 0.87

00:52:32.120 clip yeah so right before this bert and i are having a dunk contest okay and so

00:52:40.600 we start it was a rim that you can lower and so we were like who can dunk higher so i'm 247 right

00:52:48.360 there by the way yeah you were a thicky so we do it seven and a half eight eight and a half 0.95

00:52:57.080 nine i dunk on nine he doesn't it's over like i already i won the comp like everyone's like yay

00:53:04.280 and as we're like walking away to do our net we're going to do something completely different

00:53:11.160 one of them was like hey man i think you can go a little higher and i was like huh and they're like

00:53:17.080 i think i think you got a little you got a little more room in you and i go i remember internally

00:53:22.280 being like i don't know man that was like that felt like the kind of the limit you know i was like

00:53:27.800 like okay so they crank it up to nine three so that like the hoop is set at nine three

00:53:35.320 i'm back here like there's a guy off camera he's like hey man dig deep

00:53:42.760 and i go i go all right yeah and i remember internally just being like man i don't know if i

00:53:48.120 have these extra three inches right and so when i'm running there when i push off what you don't

00:53:59.240 well the reason that's like my left patellar tendon snaps oh okay so the patellar tendon snaps and then

00:54:07.720 instinctively like it's not a thought thing you're you know your body like i guess tries to protect your

00:54:13.800 head this arm goes here i land on it shatter the arm so it was left patellar tendon and left um uh

00:54:22.280 humerus like i mean that's the the scar i don't know if you can see it from there and then i had

00:54:27.800 major nerve damage so i had another surgery to take a nerve from here and put it in here so but that

00:54:32.760 happened you know you see the video and you're just like what is this but like it was that we were

00:54:37.560 doing all this the real reason that this likely happened is that i was like out of shape and like

00:54:45.640 yeah i used to play basketball fucking 20 years before then and then we just show up one day and 0.93

00:54:50.360 you're like oh let's like put the demands of like jumping as hard as you can on this 0.86

00:54:55.560 out of shape body and then your body just goes nah bro not today that's how it feels though because 0.78

00:55:02.440 like you you remember that you could do shit exactly and you think you could still do 0.94

00:55:07.400 shit yeah and then you figure out very quickly that well there's a cannot the term that i was 0.98

00:55:11.960 told because you know i went to the hospital i had surgery then i went to recovery center all this pt 0.96

00:55:16.920 like all this yeah the term that i had never heard they were like oh you're a at the when you're doing

00:55:22.680 this you're a deconditioned athlete meaning like you are you're so out of shape that you're you're

00:55:30.120 putting the demands of what you did on yourself and you're like oh i'm 18 this is what i used to

00:55:35.800 do but your body is like no we're not at all prepared for this and then your body just goes go

00:55:42.120 yourself yeah yeah but man i saw myself on video this is probably about a year ago i was uh this is so 0.95

00:55:51.400 stupid but i had this fucking rotted tree in my yard and i was like trying to make a video of like me 0.98

00:55:56.440 pushing it over yeah and dude so like when i pushed it over i like ran three feet and i saw the video 1.00

00:56:03.880 and i'm like holy bro like you cannot move anymore yeah and then i showed it to my brother he's

00:56:09.880 obviously i haven't heard the end of it but yeah yeah dude i'm that you can't you can't comprehend

00:56:16.360 that like when you got it yeah no you don't you never had it bro well this is like you know the

00:56:21.720 basketball dudes men in their 40s in basketball if they're not continuously playing especially if

00:56:29.400 they just go i'm gonna play i used to play ball i'm gonna play today it is the what leads to like

00:56:33.960 the most like they go oh dude all we see are like acl achilles tears like all the time because it's it's

00:56:41.960 you don't basketball is so accessible to us like we all grow up playing that you don't realize like

00:56:48.440 what kind of demands if you're not playing regularly what force you're putting on you know like so

00:56:54.840 explosive like it's pivoting it's jumping as hard as you can and if you're doing that out of nowhere

00:57:01.400 it's you know it's it can really obviously yeah yeah i look that looked painful yeah it was pretty bad

00:57:10.040 um let's talk uh yh ymh studios yeah so how long has that been rolling well i mean it's the

00:57:20.120 flagship show for us is is called your mom's house ymh and then we started producing other people's

00:57:26.120 podcasts um god how many you got now is i mean it's like fucking 15 no but it's probably like 0.89

00:57:33.400 seven eight maybe something like that we launched another one but yeah i mean it just became like

00:57:41.960 you know we we sort of slowly built the infrastructure to do it like you know um

00:57:47.720 obviously you start with like the physical space and then you have a a team that can produce and like

00:57:52.920 you know the the tech guys and and the the social media started to branch out from there and then

00:57:58.760 yeah it just became this thing and then we we we start our own ad sales company so like instead of

00:58:05.160 having like an like a an outside company we have an internal company so we we built an infrastructure

00:58:10.760 to do all this and then it just kind of naturally became like this thing for tv film too so it started

00:58:19.480 with that and then it started to branch out um yeah so is this in austin it's in austin so so do people

00:58:25.960 come into the building to record their shows yeah so you have multiple studios we have multiple

00:58:30.920 studios that's fucking cool man yeah it's fun it's fun and um yeah it's a it's a fun environment like 0.55

00:58:36.200 it's you know it's a it's a lot of comedians that are popping in and out and like staff is just 0.94

00:58:42.120 fantastic there and um yeah it's like uh it's now it just feels like you know like the yeah the the

00:58:50.440 norm but it was a slow for sure slow process yeah that's cool man we thought about

00:58:55.560 we were thinking about doing something similar up here but then we figured out that uh nobody

00:59:00.120 wants to come here at all yeah where to your office oh it's a flyover state yeah that's what

00:59:06.840 a lot of people call it yeah yeah i mean good food and good people here man i know it's it is i mean

00:59:13.080 look it's way easier it was way easier to book people in la yeah you know it's like people it's just

00:59:18.600 easy to be like drive down here but yeah we try to like you know you might we monitor schedules like

00:59:24.600 who's coming in to play the venues and all that stuff and sometimes if it works out it works out

00:59:31.000 some people do fly in for it you know which is it's nice i think they sometimes have other

00:59:37.240 business in the city which helps right if they're coming in for for another event for sure yeah austin's

00:59:42.040 a hub right now yeah it's been it makes it a lot easier because i'm really popular sweet man i love

00:59:48.600 it down there dude i think austin's cool as fuck yeah it is a good time man it's a good i like walking 0.87

00:59:53.560 her out like the people you know they're a little weird yeah yeah they're they're a little left but 0.94

00:59:58.760 like they're not fucking california left no it's it's like it's a blue city in a red state but the 0.88

01:00:05.160 thing is you're still in texas dude yeah like you know i mean like and the truth is i feel like it's 0.87

01:00:09.640 actually pretty mixed yeah like when you're in the city even if you're like oh this is a pretty

01:00:15.480 you know liberal place or whatever it's it's just moderately yeah it's not like they're cool 0.95

01:00:22.680 they're not fucking assholes it wasn't like this pushy shit it was cool because we stayed we went 0.99

01:00:28.360 down there a few few weeks ago a month a month ago a couple of months ago what was that a couple years 1.00

01:00:33.000 ago decade ago yeah yeah yeah i think never like 1940 or something 1940 yeah um but we stayed right

01:00:40.600 around the corner from uh the mothership yeah and down there and it was a sweet area like even at night

01:00:45.400 i think it was like on thursday night that was packed was jumping down there 6th street is it packed like

01:02:14.920 probably built to do exactly this to to laugh like he's got three fucking brain cells firing 1.00

01:02:22.120 and and just maul people yeah you know he looks part fucking animal yeah how good of a fighter is 0.99

01:02:28.280 he he's amateur but i think he's undefeated right now undefeated okay he's an amateur fighter he's moving 0.91

01:02:32.920 up but uh he's i think he's at like 320 some thousand on on ig right now i mean he's he's growing

01:02:39.320 he's up and coming huh he's up and coming yeah he's a scary dude dude that's the kind of dude 0.94

01:02:49.080 actually create a marketing play bro like like if i was like a dog food company you know what i'm 1.00

01:02:54.280 saying like a sponsor this motherfucker yeah like dude this dude is straight up on our 1.00

01:02:58.760 shit yeah yeah you know i'm saying you want to be an animal yeah fucking eat this shit 1.00

01:03:02.440 you know what i'm saying like there's a play there yeah there's a play there's a dog man yeah 1.00

01:03:09.560 that's right yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah 0.89

01:03:14.680 fucking first human athlete for dude i feel like i feel like he like he looks like a character in 0.96

01:03:21.080 the bible like a he looks like a movie character like the guy that's in an alley kind of thing you 0.99

01:03:26.760 shouldn't be in here you're in munich for whatever reason and like you just turn the corner and he's 0.92

01:03:32.040 like ha ha ha and you're like oh shit yeah 1.00

01:03:38.040 you are you are black get that 1.00

01:03:42.440 yeah now you better have a gun with that dude uh 1.00

01:03:46.680 fuck dude i don't even know if that'll work yeah it might not yeah he's just like 1.00

01:03:50.520 silver bullets bro like yeah that's some different that's a different yeah that's right that's a 1.00

01:03:54.120 different kind of dude right there oh man look at his traps good god all right next one

01:03:59.000 um let's go to new orleans you ever been to new orleans many times yeah i like new orleans bro new

01:04:04.280 orleans is sick um they got a new story down in new orleans they had 10 uh inmates escape a jail hell

01:04:11.000 yeah through a cell wall where the toilet i saw this you saw this oh yeah man yeah so it was a

01:04:16.920 rectangular hole uh in the cell it was big enough to squeeze through and then they actually wrote on top 1.00

01:04:23.320 of the walls right above it saying too easy lol suck my dick they wrote too 0.99

01:04:30.680 so uh let's check this clip this is from like the news conference and they're showing them all 0.99

01:04:34.440 uh leaving out and let's check this out

01:04:42.520 bro what what the are we watching here oh they're pulling the door trying to escape yeah 0.99

01:04:46.280 they broke the fucking doors 0.99

01:04:51.320 i thought he was humping the door 0.99

01:04:56.280 because they're trying to get into that cell that's the cell that they broke out of oh 0.85

01:05:00.680 they go inside that cell and this is damn where you see them exiting the loading dock door

01:05:06.120 as you know if you notice they are carrying blankets with them bro this road that they're going out of 0.79

01:05:16.520 is behind this building as i explained they subsequently go through another door

01:05:21.880 hop the highway here at some point you will see them come through here and they scale the fence through

01:05:28.360 this door that uh that's near the construction site yeah to scale that fence and then they did on an 0.94

01:05:34.120 escape crossing all lanes right yeah way to stay on top of shit guys uh the cool thing about this story 0.86

01:05:39.960 is that they escaped uh around 12 30 and the sheriff's office there found out at 8 30 a.m oh 0.99

01:05:49.160 fuck and then they notified the public after 10 30. so it's just a cool little 10 and a half hour 0.81

01:05:55.080 head start for these guys well apparently they caught like two of them so two or three yeah but 0.99

01:05:59.480 that means there's like seven dudes out there still and i'm surprised they had to escape bro i 0.96

01:06:05.000 thought they just let these motherfuckers out now i mean that's true they uh some of them are 0.98

01:06:08.840 are in for murder oh yeah for sure there's some wild dogs out there right now yeah i say they get 1.00

01:06:15.000 they get frederick down there to go uh go check go catch hell yeah no that is it that's crazy they 0.56

01:06:20.600 just moved the toilet and just did a opened a wall and were able to escape and then scale a wall and

01:06:29.000 like nobody sees that that's really nuts to me at a jail that's our taxpayer dollars bro yeah work

01:06:35.480 that is i feel like a common song should have been playing right there yeah i'm saying freedom

01:06:40.760 oh bro it's like the shawshank redemption that's what it was yeah that's what it was um last one

01:06:47.400 let's go to some sports without maybe put this in all right so apologies uh let's check this clip out

01:07:00.600 whoa this is women's soccer that's awesome that is awesome i can watch that all day

01:07:10.760 that's an accomplishment

01:07:17.720 took out two two of one that's rad two birds with one stone i that's uh that's uh that's an

01:07:23.720 accomplishment bro did you guys see that baseball clip where the two plays happen at the uh the two

01:07:29.240 exact same plays happen in the same inning like like decades apart or no fucking one inning after 0.92

01:07:35.400 another it was uh it was yeah it was the same fucking play the the dude you have to look it up 0.95

01:07:41.320 man it's it's fucking crazy this is like a glitch in the matrix yes 100 it's unbelievable we got to 0.97

01:07:47.880 find it throw it in there because like it's it's like holy shit but anyway like this they they the 0.98

01:07:53.160 dude hits a ground ball at the third baseman it goes off his hip shortstop catcher throws him out at 0.94

01:07:57.320 first same count same inning like everything's the same batter no no but it's one team does it and then

01:08:05.240 the next the next oh wow like in the same inning yeah yeah dude it's like you can overlay the clips

01:08:12.120 i don't know and they're yeah dude i'm i don't know either man yeah that's that's that's the freaky

01:08:17.880 stuff that does make you go like what is happening here i got it you got it bro it's admit it for real

01:08:24.440 like there's that's happening and it seems to be happening more and more it's like 0.98

01:08:27.960 fuck like are we really in the matrix we know the aliens are coming dude they're telling us dude 1.00

01:08:34.440 did you know did you know that fucking did you know that the lady who wrote the you probably know 1.00

01:08:39.720 this but like the i didn't know this till recently but the lady who wrote the matrix also wrote 0.97

01:08:45.000 terminator oh i heard about that yeah and she said that like that like it's supposed to be like a

01:08:49.800 fucking sequel or whatever yeah john connor is supposed to be jesus christ to save the world from 0.89

01:08:55.880 the black artificial intelligence and bro the the interview is fascinating um 0.98

01:09:02.520 i can't think of her name you got that clip though yeah i got the clip here yeah here it is

01:09:05.240 same great stop check this out same inning that's the same game yeah same inning same pitch speed same 0.51

01:09:24.680 fucking count same number of outs in the inning same play yeah it's it's weird that's not like a 0.84

01:09:30.920 if you guys aren't watching this it's not like it's a regular ground ball like yeah 0.99

01:09:37.480 play one more time dude watch watch the position of the players

01:09:47.640 yeah that's that's that's freaky that is crazy yeah what are the odds of that the way especially

01:09:54.440 because of where it went and then the bounce yeah the shortstop on both and dude that was one that's

01:09:59.640 the top of an inning the bottom of an inning same pitch be same count same exact play like

01:10:08.520 dude yeah i wonder if everyone in that stadium was like 0.87

01:10:14.520 what's going on i don't know man like dude more and more shits happening where i'm like 1.00

01:10:19.160 fuck man we do you follow all because my wife is obsessed with all the alien shit dude i'd cover 1.00

01:10:26.120 it we cover it yeah we cover it pretty regularly but like i i'm not like super super super into it 1.00

01:10:32.440 yeah because she follows like all the congressional like because the hearings and shit well the one 0.99

01:10:37.800 thing real aliens or the government you know what i'm saying but like it's one of the things that's 0.76

01:10:41.960 really crazy is like you we used to have this thing where you'd be like what if you know and then

01:10:47.960 you have these whistleblowers that were like you know working in top secret places in the government 0.92

01:10:55.960 they came out and they go like here's all this shit and then they need like security because they're 0.98

01:11:02.360 scared they're gonna get killed and they basically go you know we we do have um you know uh whatever 0.99

01:11:11.240 uaps and we have uh alien bodies basically we've had them for years and then you're like why how

01:11:19.560 come nobody is reacting like it's so weird that everyone's like they confirm it they're like we

01:11:24.200 do have this and everyone's like yeah anyway and you're like right wait that doesn't freak people

01:11:27.800 out anymore right i always felt like it was strange that you would have somebody confirm

01:11:33.240 this stuff and we've had these and so has china has one and like you know different governments have

01:11:39.240 these bodies and and has this technology like reverse engineering technology and then everyone's

01:11:45.720 like yeah okay dude it was weird how they did that they did that during covid yes like you know all the 0.54

01:11:51.480 shit was covid was going on and they're running the death count and all this and then 0.80

01:11:56.200 they're like oh by the way aliens are real aliens are real and no one said anything and nobody cares 0.97

01:12:00.920 yeah that was weird because communicated with us for our lifetime that's been the big debate

01:12:05.960 are aliens real or are they not of course and it's just like yeah you know uh it came out and then

01:12:11.320 people are more worried about their tiktok dances to even they don't even mention it yeah yeah even

01:12:16.600 it actually even makes it feel more uh like deliberate and calculated that they would kind of like

01:12:22.520 slow play it during a time of unrest and and have it just kind of like you know here you go and then

01:12:30.200 everybody's just like yeah and then you have people going wait don't you want to yeah make this a

01:12:34.360 bigger deal and yeah like i don't care see i don't know if it's like a real thing or if it's 0.98

01:12:38.360 fucking like the government you know i'm saying well i mean conditioning shit man i don't know it seems 0.98

01:12:44.680 like there was a lot of people that didn't want like these these the whistleblowers were terrified 0.99

01:12:50.520 yeah you know so i don't think that like it doesn't feel like the government was trying to say like

01:12:55.240 go ahead and do that you know but the funny thing is that these guys were terrified to

01:13:00.200 to to say what they said and then basically people were like i don't care yeah anyways like 0.97

01:13:06.280 it does does michelle obama have a dick or not like that's what they're worried about yeah bro it's 0.99

01:13:10.200 crazy no shit dude yeah it's weird uh it is weird man um tom can we do another game i got another game 1.00

01:13:17.560 for him wait what's the game ww td okay what would tom do what would tom do sure okay um 0.92

01:14:01.800 have i had to deal with them no no you never had like because i'm sure you get like countless 0.99

01:14:06.440 fucking you know hate whatever you want to call it hate comments and shit like that yeah but you 0.98

01:14:09.960 never had like fit like actual issues no i've never had anything like that i also i'm trying 1.00

01:14:14.280 to picture my youngest he's like he likes he sleeps with an eye mask he's six he's like i need an eye

01:14:20.040 mask i'm like dude like he's he it's way too uncomfortable for him to join yeah he would be like

01:14:32.040 today i'm like a massage he's like he's kush bro yeah he's he's he's living a good life oh that's

01:14:38.200 he's not joining but um i don't know i think i'd be so impressed that he actually was willing to be
