In today's episode, I talk about how to become a better leader, and why you have to learn to be a leader before you actually become a leader. I also talk about why leadership is the only job in the world that no one is going to come along and anoint you as the leader and how you need to learn how to actually become one.

00:00:00.000 told my teacher dumb bitch i'm gonna get millions watch this in the project living 1.00
00:00:04.680 spoke it till existence mo changed to 50 got mo cost than did i only weigh 180 but my watch 0.99
00:00:11.720 cost 250 what's up guys it's andy priscilla and this is the show for the realists say goodbye 0.98
00:00:17.100 to the lies the fakeness and delusions of modern society and welcome to motherfucking reality
00:00:22.280 guys today very short episode um i just got out of a company meeting that we do every monday 0.89
00:00:29.220 morning and as i was sitting in the meeting i was coming up with some things that i wanted to say
00:00:33.960 and when it came my opportunity to speak at the meeting i decided to not speak and i decided to
00:00:40.000 come right in here to the recording booth and record it because it's such an important point
00:00:44.920 that everybody needs to hear it so here's the thing all right as an entrepreneur and as someone who has
00:00:53.080 built businesses multiple businesses uh over the last you know two and a half decades all right i
00:01:02.140 get this same question whether it be from employees or whether it be from uh people that are interested
00:01:07.680 in success or whether it be from you know um really people online it doesn't matter this outside of the 0.99
00:01:15.680 question of how do i handle haters which dude if you can't handle fucking haters you don't got it 0.98
00:01:20.400 anyway all right you're never going to do anything significant if you can't deal with a little bit 0.98
00:01:24.180 of pushback you gotta you gotta know what to care about and know what not to care about all right
00:01:28.800 now outside of that question the other question i get all the time is how do i become a leader
00:01:35.880 more specifically how do i become a better leader well before you become a better leader you have to
00:01:41.560 become a leader and it reminded me of something i posted in 2016 uh that i actually archived on my
00:01:48.520 instagram and i just went back and looked at it and read it and i wanted to just put this out here
00:01:53.080 for you guys because i think understanding this realization will help you understand how to actually
00:01:59.480 become a leader and from that point learn to become a great leader all right because here's the thing
00:02:06.100 there's only two skills that fucking pay all right if you want to make more money and you want 0.83
00:02:10.960 to be uh you know successful and you want to achieve all your dreams and all the things i know you guys 0.96
00:02:16.440 want you have to understand there's two fucking skills one is leadership and the other is sales 0.98
00:02:21.820 if you don't have leadership skills and you don't have sales skills your your upward mobility is going 0.96
00:02:27.920 to always be limited even if you you could say oh well what about a programmer no that's true
00:02:32.140 programmers can do very well and that's a great thing but eventually you're gonna have to sell yourself
00:02:36.980 or you're gonna have to lead other programmers to build anything great okay so trust me when i tell
00:02:42.060 you that people who lead and people who sell are the people who do the best in life that's reality
00:02:47.180 now wherever you are in life and whatever you do there's an opportunity for you to lead and a lot
00:02:53.740 of you guys struggle with leadership because we remember back in the day you know that one time in
00:02:58.780 high school or that one time in seventh grade or when we were in grade school where we tried to step 0.84
00:03:03.820 up and say hey guys come on and everybody say hey fuck you sit down okay and we've all had that happen 0.94
00:03:09.360 but that doesn't stop people from leading okay because that doesn't happen in the real world 0.99
00:03:15.300 you guys are afraid of getting pushback from the people that you are trying to lead and you think
00:03:20.540 that they're not going to give you their consent to be their leader and they probably won't and that's
00:03:26.500 the thing i want to talk to you about today all right look nobody's going to come along and say
00:03:31.320 hey uh tony you know what you're a you're ready to be a leader and we're going to follow you so
00:03:36.880 please go ahead and lead that's not what's going to happen all right the thing i posted in 2016
00:03:42.420 said isn't it weird that in order to fall asleep you have to pretend to be asleep before you're
00:03:50.780 actually asleep all right and that is so parallel with how leadership goes leadership is the only job
00:03:58.280 in the world that nobody's going to come and anoint you the leader and you're going to have to pretend
00:04:03.760 to be the leader before you're actually seen as the leader okay so this is the tip that i want you
00:04:10.000 guys to understand this is the thing that i want you to to work on this week and next week and forever
00:04:15.820 is realizing this you lead by pretending to have the job of leader before you actually have it okay
00:04:25.180 that means standing up and holding high standards for the people around you that means staying true to
00:04:31.080 what you think is right that means being willing to be the first person to take initiative to correct
00:04:36.220 a problem or to say hey guys we got to be better here okay or we got to do this or we've got to go
00:04:42.040 there or just be the first person okay and people will follow you if you do it consistently enough
00:04:49.080 you have to pretend to be the leader before you're actually the leader and we see this all the time if you
00:04:55.340 look at social media right now there's tons of new leaders emerging okay why is that because they have
00:05:01.940 the courage to speak on what they believe and what they think is true regardless if people are going
00:05:09.340 to follow them or not and by default people will fall in line behind those kinds of messages doesn't
00:05:15.640 matter if you're in the workplace doesn't matter if you're in politics doesn't matter at all okay when
00:05:21.560 you start doing what other people inherently know and believe is the right thing to do the good thing
00:05:27.560 to do you will start to become a leader all right the first time you go it might just be you the first
00:05:36.320 1000 times you go it might just be you but eventually someone else is going to join you and then another and
00:05:44.160 then another so understand this and this is for all of you young entrepreneurs and people out there
00:05:49.800 who are feeling all these feelings inside right now who are scared to say them who are scared to speak
00:05:57.360 up who are sort of thinking like man i wonder if i'm like qualified to do this okay look around at
00:06:04.860 some of the people that are leaders right now you can't tell me you're not more qualified than them
00:06:10.580 okay we have the weakest leadership that we've ever had in this country and in society
00:06:16.580 ever the world is starving for leaders businesses are starving for leaders okay if you can become a
00:06:29.260 leader families are starving for leaders okay if you can become a leader if you can stand for what you
00:06:39.160 believe in and you are comfortable doing it alone eventually you won't be doing it alone
00:06:45.000 that's how leaders become leaders so for all of you guys out there who are waiting around and waiting
00:06:53.780 around for someone to come and tap you on the head with their you know fairy leadership pixie dusk
00:06:59.700 remember it's never going to happen okay there's two skills you got to develop one is leadership and 1.00
00:07:07.460 two is the ability to sell some of you guys are great salespeople but you lead for shit 0.97
00:07:13.120 okay start pretending that you're a great leader before you're a great leader start behaving how 0.98
00:07:20.460 great leaders behave study great leaders okay everything you read should be about great leaders
00:07:28.940 okay you should be absorbing everything but understand that you can absorb all the information
00:07:35.020 in the world about being a great leader it's not going to make you one what's going to make you one
00:07:39.020 is behaving like these great leaders before you're actually a leader and this is the biggest
00:07:46.140 concept that you need to take in your life in terms of how to actually develop what it is you're trying
00:07:54.820 to develop all right guys that point was in my head this morning in our team meeting but i just feel
00:08:01.740 like it's so valuable we needed to put it out here for you guys to hear i hope you listen to this i hope
00:08:06.920 you take the time to really comprehend it and i hope that you have the courage to execute against
00:08:12.640 it because if you do your life will change your family's life will change your network's life will
00:08:20.220 change and at the end of your life you'll look back and you'll say i am damn proud of the way i lived 0.99
00:08:26.620 and the changes i helped implement okay so have a great fucking week guys let's kick some ass but let's 0.99
00:08:34.000 remember nobody's coming to save us nobody's coming to give us the leadership we got to take it 0.96
00:08:40.660 and that's it 0.99
00:08:42.400 told my teacher dumb bitch i'm gonna get millions in the project living spoke it till existence 1.00
00:08:48.720 i'm from where you can't trust so welcome 1.00
00:08:51.120 you
00:08:57.780 you
