00:04:37.820 some really really good questions lined up and uh let's make some people better let's do it let's do it
00:04:43.460 let's uh we're gonna kick things off let's kick them off with a phone call let's kick them off with
00:04:48.120 a phone call let's kick it off let's give uh let's give riley a call riley hello those is riley
00:05:02.620 yes sir is this dj this is dj how's you doing man i'm doing great man how are you doing i mean i'm
00:05:11.000 you know i'm chilling man thanks for asking bro i appreciate that man no one cares bro okay absolutely
00:05:16.280 riley what's happening bro how are you dude i'm doing great man it's the next it's excellent to speak
00:05:25.500 you sir all right bro just i i appreciate you what what where are you at man i'm in austin texas
00:05:33.340 oh we fucking love austin austin's great austin's a great place yeah what are you doing down there
00:05:38.280 brother uh right now i'm in between classes at school no i meant what are you doing what are you doing
00:05:45.300 oh what am i doing down there yeah i'm a musician all right cool cool what do you play
00:05:50.680 drums oh badass that's badass yeah it's a fucking hard instrument to play yeah how long you been
00:05:58.400 playing drums brother uh a little over 13 years now oh man that's awesome that's awesome well bro
00:06:06.920 what do you got going on down there what can we help you with yeah so all right here we go the question
00:06:17.600 i asked was i'm a musician in austin i play in a band that is developing strong momentum
00:06:24.440 things are coming together fast there's a part of me that doesn't trust how fast things are moving
00:06:29.680 how do you handle situations where crash and burn seems inevitable and so when i sent in that question
00:06:37.880 that was a few months ago at the beginning of summer if i'm not mistaken and so a lot has changed
00:06:47.260 since then and there was a lot of uncertainty and
00:06:56.760 lack of faith in the process with the situation i was in for sure and it just felt like it would fall
00:07:09.660 apart or it would stay together yeah and and what happened well we went through a lineup change
00:07:17.640 and uh kind of took care that kind of took care of itself and uh but now i'm i'm with the right
00:07:27.960 people i have my brothers and we're building something that is that i know is going to uh change
00:07:38.880 music and change american culture good and
00:07:45.040 if i i can i feel i can trust the process more but even so we're even in a position now where things
00:07:57.000 are still moving fast and there's that uncertainty especially when you're working as
00:08:03.000 an independent musician and there's not we don't you know there's no record label there's our team is
00:08:10.620 very small we're just getting started and the way things are picking up there's that that fear of the
00:08:18.460 uncertainty where you don't know what's going to happen and i can only control the things i can
00:08:24.580 and i surrender to the things i can't so trying to
00:08:28.740 trust the process and understand that
00:08:33.780 it'll work out however it works out is
00:08:40.440 is tough because i want i like to be able to you know have that
00:08:47.300 security but right no the line of work that i'm in that's that's not really what i got myself into
00:08:56.700 right totally bro um look how old are you man i'm 24 okay so this is the first time in your life
00:09:06.440 where you've truly caught positive momentum is that correct yes sir okay so dude first of all
00:09:14.500 congratulations on that most people never even get to that point all right what i want you to hear
00:09:20.920 from me today is that that's normal okay when you've never experienced something and i want you to think
00:09:28.000 about it in different context okay let's take away the momentum you're creating with your business and
00:09:33.180 let's just apply it to a different area of life um let's say you're going to go on a trip okay and you
00:09:41.880 don't have everything planned but you know that when you go there you want to kind of do this or
00:09:47.040 that and you have a loose idea of how it's going to go and you go on the trip and before you go you
00:09:53.600 get really anxious i don't know about you but i get travel anxiety sometimes and you start to think
00:09:58.760 about like oh man i wonder if this is going to go the way i want and this and this and this
00:10:02.100 because you've never done it before bro and then once you go on the trip and you've been around
00:10:08.000 that place once or twice now instead of like wondering how it's going to go you're like oh
00:10:13.320 i can't wait i'm going to go to this place i'm going to go to that place i'm going to see my friends
00:10:17.100 here i'm going to go eat here and you have a much more comfortable understanding of what to expect
00:10:22.580 and so that's what's happening with you just in a different area of life you've never experienced this
00:10:29.840 you've created something that you want to create so there's an emotional attachment to it
00:10:36.380 and then we have this we have this part of us all of us have this that sort of like puts doubts in
00:10:44.960 our head and makes us kind of you know hesitate and you know anxious and scared and the good thing
00:10:53.560 about you is that in the face of that and this is really cool because you wrote this question
00:10:58.960 you saw what happened and now we're talking about it but you felt that coming bro and you kept moving
00:11:05.540 and that is the key you've learned a massive lesson here brother the lesson is is that anything that you
00:11:12.860 do if you haven't been down the path before is going to feel very uncertain uh you're gonna have doubts
00:11:19.740 you're gonna have anxiety and if you keep moving like you said the things will work themselves out
00:11:28.500 and if you control what you control and then surrender to the rest things will move the way
00:11:34.520 that you want to move the problem that most people run into is that they don't control any of the things
00:11:39.860 they can control and then they expect to get where they're wanting to go and it's just pure chaos it
00:11:44.820 never happens and that's why so many people have this idea that success you know pursuing success is
00:11:51.600 this massive risk when in reality the risk is not pursuing it right um so it's you know i know you've
00:12:00.940 already figured this out but i think it's very important for the listeners to hear this is that when
00:12:05.120 you don't know what to do just keep moving forward and figure it out one decision at a time okay
00:12:13.120 you handle today you handle tomorrow you handle the next day and if you do that the best that you
00:12:19.500 can things tend to work out in the direction that we're trying to get and um i would chalk this up
00:12:26.280 brother as a very valuable life lesson because i could tell you as someone who's 20 years older than
00:12:32.820 you you you're gonna run into this many times okay uh when you launch a new album when you move from
00:12:40.940 doing little clubs to medium clubs to big clubs to to stadiums like these are all new things and this
00:12:47.840 this process of uncertainty is going to repeat itself in your life over and over and over again
00:12:54.160 you know when you get married you're going to feel this way when you start to have kids you're probably
00:12:58.320 going to feel this way it's just a very natural feeling that we as humans have about never being down
00:13:06.060 the path before and the the the problem is is that most people just stop when they start to feel that
00:13:12.800 way and you've already shown that you have the innate understanding to keep moving and then just
00:13:17.540 handle it as it goes so it's very important for everybody to listen to what riley just went through
00:13:23.160 because this is a situation that is not exclusive to riley it's exclusive to any of us anytime that we
00:13:29.380 do something new all right so uh i can give you examples of that in my life you know when for
00:13:36.240 example you know we've our big initiative right now is is uh the energy drink well i mean fuck bro like
00:13:42.220 i've never done this before like i have doubts and i'm nervous and and i've got anxiety about those things but
00:13:50.040 how i respond to those after being in this game so long is to push hard to make sure to like do
00:13:57.720 everything i can and i take all of those uncertainty feelings and all of this uh anxiety and all of
00:14:03.960 these things that you know would wouldn't normally derail people and i use that and funnel that energy
00:14:10.540 into doing every single thing that i can to make sure that the outcome is most likely the one that i'm
00:14:17.160 after and that's all we can do brother that's all we can do we can do yeah we keep getting better
00:14:22.200 we handle what we handle we push we push we push and the outcome is going to be somewhere
00:14:29.400 better than where we are now and even if it takes longer for you to get where you want to go than
00:14:36.200 what you think that's okay because you go down you know and whatever outcome is produced you you then
00:14:44.340 set that the new base point and this is another place that people quit people will see a project
00:14:49.740 through and it didn't turn out the way that they want and even though they saw the project through
00:14:54.820 they don't realize that that they're not through this is just another place for us to regather
00:15:01.700 collect where we are and then go again and so it's the constant process of pushing through the
00:15:09.320 uncertainty seeing where we end up evaluating that then deciding where we want to go from here
00:15:16.780 and making a new plan and going again and every time you go again that same feeling that you have
00:15:21.860 riley is gonna is gonna occur so the best thing that we as humans can do is to use that feeling of
00:15:29.040 uncertainty doubt anxiety about things not working out and then channel that energy into making sure that
00:15:35.640 we do the most that we can to dictate the proper outcome and i can tell you dude like when i started out
00:15:42.800 on this journey of you know pursuing entrepreneurship and becoming successful and all these things
00:15:49.400 bro i mean i thought it was fucking magic too like i thought it was i thought it was out of my control
00:15:55.360 i thought it was um you know i thought there was luck involved i thought there was you know divine
00:16:01.680 intervention and there probably is some divine intervention but oh i believe that for sure yeah but at the end
00:16:07.960 of the day dude if we handle what we can handle the chances of us not being in a better spot are almost
00:16:17.220 zero and then we just have to choose to keep going brother well it's interesting because in late
00:16:26.700 december of 22 so i'm originally from utah i moved here november 1st of 21 and in a year goes by
00:16:37.060 in december of 22 my back goes out my i have a torn disc in my l5s1 i have i spend the next six weeks
00:16:47.900 like getting myself to be able to walk comfortably again i can't reach past my knees it it that was a huge
00:16:58.420 test to really see just oh yeah if if i had the the fortitude and capabilities to keep moving forward
00:17:10.040 because especially you know as a musician and a drummer i'm dependent on my body and so being able to
00:17:17.940 work through that and i can now i can reach past my toes i've put in a ton of work to it to really
00:17:27.180 focus on my mobility and keep my body in check i i do 75 hard every single year i'm on it right now
00:17:34.960 it it's it taught me a lot and it i was really able to at least trust in myself and know that
00:17:43.400 well i'm going to figure this shit out one way or another and so when that happened over this excuse me
00:17:49.660 this summer and i was able to see also and i knew that i would be able to rely on my team and my
00:17:57.700 brothers was because they also kept showing up and we kept showing up for each other and we never gave
00:18:05.020 in we like we thought we thought we were done for we thought we were gonna have to start over and
00:18:11.060 from from from square one but we there you know the show's real af and i try i've i call myself a
00:18:24.780 realist i try and yeah uh yeah operate in reality but there is an element to this where uh that is a bit
00:18:33.300 of that idealistic fantasy of where like the the future that i'm working towards doesn't exist yet
00:18:40.880 and so i have to force myself to believe that it does exist and that i don't have an option and so
00:18:46.700 i i twist that and use that and put that into the daily actions and i can only just
00:18:54.500 just look at the results and know yeah my back went out and i handled it yes i now i'm in better
00:19:02.420 shape than i've ever been yeah and that's badass shit dude dude people who haven't been through a
00:19:09.400 major injury don't understand how how much of a test that really is like i i'm i'm following you
00:19:17.800 bro you should be very proud of that that's some badass shit you should be trusting yourself at a high
00:19:22.720 level at this point thank you and i think that i think that's the uh the biggest part that i
00:19:31.760 fight myself over is because i am able to look back and say oh i've done this and this i've i've
00:19:38.080 dropped my own ep i've i've dropped a live album i've done i've done these great things that me five
00:19:44.460 years ago would have been stunned he wouldn't have believed it would happen but it has and i'm not
00:19:51.000 even like this is just the beginning that's right so i like i think it's the level of the standard where
00:19:56.460 i try and bring myself and ground myself to be like you're not like you i try and hold myself
00:20:06.240 accountable so to make sure i am doing enough but not get to like i guess drive myself crazy where
00:20:15.040 it's you know yeah like it like it's never enough i have to be able to yes actually trust that
00:20:21.920 what what i am doing is actually something because i i'm very hard on myself and especially with my
00:20:29.800 like my back still gives me problems and so on 75 hard i'll i'll be mad at myself if i can't
00:20:38.300 do as an extreme a workout as i want to but i have to focus on keeping my body in check this isn't about
00:20:45.400 breaking myself this is about keeping myself in the best physical condition for what i do it's
00:20:52.480 about training your body and your mind brother 100 yeah listen dude i from what i'm hearing dude
00:21:00.880 i would go to fucking war with you i mean look you've been through some difficult shit you're doing
00:21:08.280 something that they're where you feel like right now there's no guarantee but i can promise you dude
00:21:15.100 if you continue to show up the way that you're going and and you think about it the way that
00:21:19.520 you're thinking about it and you're operating the way that you're operating you will get where you're
00:21:24.460 trying to go all right and there's been a lot of other people i don't have a choice that's right
00:21:28.500 and by the way bro uh and i say this all the time people laugh but like we need heroes dude we need
00:21:35.700 stories we need people that are going to fucking build an amazing rock band out of an idea we need
00:21:41.660 people who are going to build amazing companies we need people to show the younger generation what
00:21:46.220 those things look like and so dude not only like you're fucking doing it dude like it's not that it's
00:21:54.180 gonna happen it's happening right now and yeah and and dude it's hilarious i have a i have a class
00:22:02.160 hold on hold on i want to tell you something sorry this is very important for you to hear
00:22:06.240 i spent a lot of my life wondering and working so fucking hard wondering if i was ever going to
00:22:15.340 fucking make it dude and i was so serious and so dedicated to it that it cost me a lot that it
00:22:24.960 didn't have to cost me okay and you need to understand there is no magic to this bro you are
00:22:32.960 executing it is happening right now i'm i'm looking at pictures dj's throwing pictures of your instagram
00:22:39.060 up here you're doing it and i had a friend one time we we i drew up my plan on what i was going to do
00:22:48.600 in business and i was dude it was almost it's crazy because like he was my age and i was your age
00:22:54.680 and i drew up i said this is gonna this is what i'm trying to do and this and that and his his advice
00:22:59.680 or his response was fucking the exact same i'm telling you he's like dude you're doing it but i
00:23:07.340 didn't believe him at the time i was like no it still could not happen it might not happen and i
00:23:13.020 kept working but the point that i want you to hear is that
00:23:17.380 you you have to understand bro this will happen for you if you do the work and i don't want you to
00:23:26.640 spend the next 10 or 5 or 20 years so concerned about it not happening and not enjoying what you're
00:23:35.020 doing because i'm going to tell you dude the building of the process is the fun part it's not
00:23:41.700 getting there it's the building of it and it's it's you doing photo shoots and performances in
00:23:48.160 this cool gas station that i'm looking at it's you doing it's you playing in front of you know
00:23:54.280 yeah a few hundred people and then you know five ten years from now you're paying playing in front of
00:24:02.460 a hundred thousand you know so i my point is brother is you're fucking doing it and i i want you to enjoy
00:24:10.380 this as you do it that's my point my mom always tells me don't rob yourself the joy of living
00:24:17.560 yeah and and you can work very hard and be dedicated and still have that bro by the way i'm looking at
00:24:25.440 this uh photo that you posted on july 23rd of 23 where you guys are like doing that set in the gas
00:24:32.840 station or that's fucking that goes hard as fuck dude that's pretty fucking sick that's badass
00:24:39.300 anyway thank you man yeah brother listen man um i've really enjoyed this conversation man and i think
00:24:48.860 it's going to be very valuable to people that are that are coming up and chasing a dream just like you
00:24:53.220 and thank that dream that you're fucking building bro do not give up on it do not give up on it
00:25:00.040 people don't take it like you're taking it they don't systematically take it seriously they go they
00:25:05.100 play they think they might make it they party their fucking balls off you will make it if you keep
00:25:11.060 going dude you will fucking make it so just keep going brother yeah love it man thank you man yeah i uh
00:25:18.460 i will say i the thing that keeps me going and knowing that like it is going to happen yeah is
00:25:29.600 this is my purpose and fulfillment this is what i'm put on this earth to do and with the the fucking
00:25:36.680 sanity of what is happening in the world yeah that uh that little voice in my head will question
00:25:42.600 and say like man you're just being a musician playing music when they're with everything
00:25:49.820 happening but i'm like no what i do has purpose and value massive purpose it's massive purpose bro
00:25:55.860 music is one of the most important impactful forms of human relation like fuck dude revolutions have
00:26:04.680 started because of music that's the truth the language we all speak yeah absolutely brother
00:26:12.600 man thank you so much i i can't tell you how much you've impacted my life my uh i'll give a shout
00:26:22.540 out to my cousin derrick bowler for turning me on to you in 2018 i've been listening ever since and
00:26:30.280 it has really shaped my mentality my approach to life it gave me permission to to go hard and get after
00:26:41.980 it and really shape my life into what it is because i i am doing it i i do feel that and it's it's only
00:26:52.960 level i'm only leveling up yeah a hundred percent dude you're 24 dude you're gonna be a fucking legend if
00:27:00.960 you keep going real talk that's real bro so that's real man riley dude we appreciate you bro yeah dj
00:27:07.040 shoot me his stuff so i can follow him i got you doing it right now riley we appreciate it bro we're
00:27:12.300 gonna stay followed on you man i appreciate you guys thank you so much thank you dj thank you to
00:27:16.900 the team everybody and i will promise you this i will play summer smash dude i i believe it bro and uh
00:27:25.400 also um when we come to austin bro we'll have to get a bite to eat or something yes absolutely man i would
00:27:34.860 love that we'll hit you up brother you dude hey riley sounds good brother just so you know
00:27:39.960 you're the fucking reason i do this shit like this is the reason i do this shit so this is this is very
00:27:48.420 cool for me too brother it means a lot thank you yeah i wear that bison with pride i know you do i see
00:27:57.120 it i'm walking i'm watching right now all right brother we'll talk to you soon riley thanks bro
00:28:01.960 hey y'all have a great day thank you so much you too fuck that's awesome that's fucking cool bro i
00:28:08.120 fucking love that that's fucking cool i love that that's fucking sick dude it's the best shit ever
00:28:15.180 you know and i was you know what's cool about it dude is like it's outside the realm of what most
00:28:19.960 people think that we talk about here yeah you know i'm saying pursuing a dream like we could we could
00:28:25.720 we could substitute entrepreneur for the dream right like it's the same shit it doesn't matter
00:28:32.840 if you're a fucking artist or an organizer or you know what i'm saying it's it's excellence in your
00:28:39.800 life correct whatever that it is whatever that is bro i think it's fucking sick one of the things
00:28:44.520 who i thought was really interesting i want to expand more on this convo you know but i know you have
00:28:50.440 mentioned you know the road the path of success being like that that hockey stick oh yeah you know
00:28:55.240 and he mentioned like hey things are kind of moving quick right and i i don't think this is something
00:28:59.260 we've dove into but when you get that hockey stick that in that people are talking about
00:29:03.040 shit starts moving really quick a lot of things start happening how how do you process that piece
00:29:08.420 of it when you go for so long and there's nothing you fucking hang the fuck on bro yeah is that what
00:29:14.120 yeah you hang the fuck on and hope that you don't make a fatal mistake which dude the truth is
00:29:19.280 there's very few fatal mistakes unless you're actually dead you know what i mean the rest of
00:29:24.120 it just becomes a fucking part of the story yeah so you know i think people people you know when
00:29:29.880 you're young dude and you know you haven't really done anything yet you're trying to do something
00:29:36.240 people get terrified of fucking it up and that costs them so much anxiety and so much you know stress
00:29:44.100 but at the end of the day bro the truth of the matter is there's very few things that
00:29:49.160 you can't fuck up that you can't make an amazing part of the story from you know what i mean so
00:29:55.480 these lessons that you mess up along the way end up becoming the things that give you the skills to win
00:30:01.300 at a higher level and um you just have to possess the resilience to take those hits and take those losses
00:30:10.820 and appreciate them you know and that i did a post on this yesterday i believe about gratitude
00:30:16.940 you know it's easy to have gratitude when things are going well right and it's easy to be grateful
00:30:23.020 when everything's good but the trick of gratitude is that it's most important when things aren't good
00:30:29.720 it's most important when things are falling apart to be able to say hey i'm thankful to be in this
00:30:36.440 position because not only am i going to learn a lot but i have this tremendous opportunity to overcome
00:30:42.980 this which is only going to make me stronger better and more skilled at what i do and i'm in a position
00:30:50.360 and things may not be going well right now but i'm still in a very very good position compared to a lot
00:30:57.080 of people in the world uh you know there's a lot of people who are sick there's a lot of people who are
00:31:01.320 going to die today you know there's a lot of people who you know they're never going to have
00:31:05.980 the opportunity to even come back from what i have you know those that's when gratitude really matters
00:31:11.060 bro and so you know when we put it all together man at the end of the day it's we're all very
00:31:19.640 fortunate to have the opportunity to build create and become things and it's very sad to me that people
00:31:26.380 abandon that opportunity because it's hard right what the fuck do you want to do bro you want to
00:31:33.540 be you just want to sit on your couch all day like that's what you want your life to be you know what
00:31:38.140 i mean yeah yeah it's not it's not a real life it's supposed to be hard well it's gonna be hard
00:31:43.360 regardless yeah but it's but it like this whole i was talking to a friend this morning bro this whole
00:31:50.420 instant gratification sales internet guru nonsense it dude it poisons people's mind and it fucks up
00:31:59.360 their their understanding of what it really takes to succeed and it does way more harm than good
00:32:07.540 because you have all these people who hear these people talk who appear to be credible
00:32:11.980 and then they go out in the real world they experience something completely different
00:32:17.080 that's much harder much more difficult and then they say well fuck i'm i guess it's just not for
00:32:23.820 me no it's it's not that it's not for you it's that you were lied to about what the process actually
00:32:29.800 is and that really hurts young people especially today you know one of the biggest advantages that i had
00:32:36.880 is that i didn't have that you know that's the biggest advantage isn't that crazy yeah the biggest
00:32:42.800 advantage that i had was that i didn't have 7 000 people a day telling me how i was going to get rich quick
00:32:48.720 that that was fucking because there was none of that shit so you know it's hard it's really aggravating
00:32:56.540 because what these gurus sell people i mean i have real talk dude you should not buy anything from
00:33:02.920 anybody that hasn't that cannot actually show you their business their product their service
00:33:08.100 and and that it's outside of info period if you if you fucking only sell info and that's all they
00:33:14.780 sell you should not buy anything they they fucking sell period i don't care who the fuck it is so it's
00:33:20.960 a it's a good rule of thumb and dude that's 99 of these people like you guys signing up to go sit in
00:33:27.500 some fucking retards living room and fucking have him draw on a fucking piece of paper because he's got
00:33:34.340 a lamborghini you're a fucking idiot you deserve to lose your money real talk like i don't know what
00:33:39.920 to i don't know what that's like the first lesson of business yeah i don't know what to fucking tell
00:33:44.360 you like yeah man i love it dude i love it i got another question man uh let's keep moving we got
00:33:49.940 a question uh question for andy uh andy i recently turned 40 uh and for the first time i feel anxious
00:33:59.600 about getting older i worry about missed opportunities lost time and whether i've done
00:34:04.720 enough with my life i know aging is inevitable but i want to embrace it instead of fearing it
00:34:11.100 is there a way i can shift my perspective and see growing older as something to celebrate
00:34:16.200 rather than something to fear and avoid i mean there's a lot of things that we could talk about
00:34:22.680 here number one 40 is really not old like it used to be i mean people are in shape people are healthy
00:34:28.940 they're taking care of themselves you know we're moving into the first generation of 40 to 50 year
00:34:33.980 olds that have been training since they were 18 with weights and eating a proper diet and so you know
00:34:40.540 most of the people that i know that are in their 40s are actually in better shape than people that are in
00:34:45.540 their 20s because they're taking it more serious so i actually don't see it as like that kind of aging
00:34:51.940 um so that's a good thing i think another good thing is that if you haven't spent the last 20
00:35:00.920 years building something the technology exists today where you can build something much faster than
00:35:06.920 what it would take someone who started 20 years ago that's a great thing i don't think there's any
00:35:12.080 amount of quote unquote bad things that happen when you get older other than
00:35:19.420 having regrets about time wasted uh and and as someone who really didn't waste that much time
00:35:27.780 you know i still have that same feeling like i'm like fuck i could have done more i could have done
00:35:33.300 more i could have done more and i think that's a feeling that anybody who has ambition is going to
00:35:38.120 always feel um you know i i don't know i feel like i keep getting better looking like you know
00:35:47.420 i think there's a lot of good things about getting in your 40s bro um might take a little longer out
00:35:52.880 the bed but you know yeah yeah yeah that's a negative thing yeah uh but no one can see that
00:35:58.160 yeah right right no one can see how sore i am you know what i'm saying uh but you know i i think
00:36:04.340 i think this is a great period of time for people who are entering their 40s or in their 40s who do
00:36:11.800 have regret about how they lived their life previously
00:36:15.780 to change those things and not waste 20 years having to change them you know it used to be
00:36:23.060 if you fucked off during your 20s and 30s and and you turned 40 there was no chance you know because
00:36:29.660 all the relationships were made all the business was done you know my dad used to tell me he's like
00:36:36.060 people people build their relationships and they make their money in their 30s and after that if you
00:36:40.080 don't do that you're you can't because no one wants to fuck with a dude who's 50 years old just starting
00:36:46.300 out it's just the way it is yeah um but there's always exceptions to that there's tremendous stories
00:36:54.480 you know um fuck you go up and down the chain you know sam walton didn't start till he was in 40s
00:37:00.460 kfc didn't start till he was in the 60s um and there's a million stories in between of iconic men
00:37:07.300 and women who built amazing things that were over the age of 40 years old so i think a lot of what we
00:37:13.260 deal with is just you know um i think it's just natural regret you know of of things that we could
00:37:20.680 have should have would have done but at the end of the day you can't change those you got to accept
00:37:23.920 them for what they are accept what you learned from them and then apply them moving forward and
00:37:28.340 the good news is is that you have plenty of time to to still do whatever it is you're trying to do
00:37:32.200 and i think 40 has never been as young as it is right now and and that's that's the truth um
00:37:39.560 now if you're fucking out of shape i don't know what this person looks like if you're fucking fat
00:37:45.140 and you're out of shape and you're unhealthy you're gonna feel like you're 60 um and that does
00:37:50.880 shrink the time at 30 fucking six years old i was 350 fucking pounds bro and i looked older then
00:37:57.360 than i do now okay 10 years older i'm 10 years older now than i was then and i look older then
00:38:04.020 having your physical and your mental tuned in at 40 in your 40s is an amazing thing um
00:38:11.140 and if you don't do it you're gonna feel significantly older and look significantly
00:38:16.740 i see people that i went to high school with and no offense to anybody that might be listening but
00:38:21.320 some of y'all look like shit you know i'm saying like you're not taking care of yourselves you're
00:38:25.500 still drinking beer every day you're still not eating the right shit and anybody can tell and if
00:38:31.300 that's how they want to live that's okay but most of them don't and so i think it's very important to
00:38:36.620 understand that if you don't take care of those things your quality of life is going to be terrible
00:38:41.920 and if you do take care of those things it's going to be amazing like bro you know people think oh
00:38:46.140 40 my my my youth is over well dude i know dudes that fucking keanu reeves is 63 years old
00:38:53.140 i mean it's keanu reeves you know i'm saying it's pretty badass yeah like what the fuck are we
00:39:00.420 talking about bro you get you can live a quality life and do things at any age bro and um just got
00:39:06.160 to go yeah you just got to quit telling yourself that stupid story of oh i'm too old you're not
00:39:11.140 fucking too old dude people tell themselves this these two stories that cost them everything you
00:39:17.520 know what the stories are i'm too young and i'm too old those are the two stories that cost everybody
00:39:22.920 fucking everything okay because they when they're 19 and they're 20 they don't want to start because
00:39:28.980 they're too young nobody will take them serious then you know when they're 30 they're like oh well you
00:39:34.960 know i'm i don't know like i probably should have started that already you know but i didn't then
00:39:40.380 when they're 40 they're too old so at what time is the appropriate time there right the appropriate
00:39:45.920 time was 20 fucking years ago you know what the next best time is right fucking now okay so that's
00:39:53.640 the reality if you tell yourself you're too old you're never going to be shit if you tell yourself
00:39:57.260 you're too young you're never going to be shit if you look at reality there's plenty of people that
00:40:02.340 are much younger than you they've been far more successful and there's plenty of people who have
00:40:05.640 started at an older age and become icons so why do you continue to tell yourself the story that
00:40:14.120 obviously there's plenty of evidence that shows that it's not true that doesn't make any sense so
00:40:19.440 we just got to start telling ourselves the truth the truth is this you can be a bad motherfucker in
00:40:24.260 your 40s if you want to the rock made most of his fucking career in his 40s he made most of his money in
00:40:29.920 his 40s i would say he probably looked his best in his 40s i think anybody would agree with that i mean
00:40:35.360 dude there's there's a gazillion examples of this so it's just you got to quit lying to yourself bro
00:40:42.820 you're not fucking old you're you're you're old enough to know that it's time to get going
00:40:48.560 and fucking go i love it bro yeah i love it
00:40:52.720 hello jason
00:41:03.220 yes can you hear me yeah what's going on man this is dj what's going on brother
00:41:08.740 what's going on man how are you doing dj i'm good how are you doing amazing i cannot complain
00:41:16.260 what what time what time is it we got an international caller guys we're we're calling
00:41:20.060 sweden it's like 1 a.m there is it 1 a.m there no no it's like almost going to be at 11 p.m
00:41:27.320 oh man that's pretty late all right yeah all right well what's going on man how can we help
00:41:32.800 we got andy here what's going on what's up jason how are you bro i'm doing good man how are you doing
00:41:37.860 doing really good what's going on uh across the pond over there
00:41:41.280 yeah i'm just dropping off a long work day um but yeah i wanted to call because
00:41:49.360 like right now just kind of give some backstory at the moment like i'm 19 and i was into business
00:41:57.420 like when i was 16 and there's been like a lot of ups and downs uh this year but i feel like every
00:42:02.840 time that things like stabilize and get better like i just tremble or like fall on once again
00:42:10.760 and i have to like work my way up and just like keeps going up and down right now i'm at a point
00:42:17.440 where like i work pretty hard and kind of stabilized but i feel like i'm less hungry for success than i
00:42:25.340 was before so i want to see like what is that like a mindset shift i have to make or what do you think
00:42:31.760 okay a couple questions when you say that you're going up and down is it are you saying like you're
00:42:39.780 taking like three steps forward and then one step backwards yeah correct okay it's kind of like
00:42:47.840 that okay so you are you are leveling up at a hot you are creating a new base every time this happens
00:42:56.000 correct no no like previously what's happened is now i've been like stable um but it feels like i'm
00:43:05.400 still like not growing but previously what happened was that i went up and then went completely to
00:43:10.800 shit okay i usually destroy it okay but now i've like kept it but i feel like now when i'm at this
00:43:16.420 point i'm less hungry for success than i was before like previously okay and you're 19 yeah correct
00:43:25.340 all right cool uh first of all you need to erase this idea that you're successful out of your brain
00:43:31.520 you're 19 years old it costs a immense amount of success to live a comfortable lifestyle it's
00:43:40.980 whatever you think it is that you need to be earning you probably need to be earning 10 times that amount
00:43:46.640 that's just the reality for a number of reasons one things cost more than than you think two the money
00:43:54.980 is always becoming less valuable three we're going to be alive for a long time so the first thing that
00:44:01.740 i've got to tell you is that your goal has to be expanded tremendously to restore that hunger that you are
00:44:11.820 looking to restore hunger happens when we have a lot of distance to cover between where we are and where
00:44:19.760 we're trying to go when we get to a place of comfortable or close to where we think we want
00:44:26.020 to be it is a natural thing for us to feel comfortable and complacent and to not feel as hungry and the
00:44:32.900 solution to that is going to be you expanding your goals and vision for yourself to a much bigger place
00:44:42.040 now jason you may not be a guy who wants to have you know uh helicopters and fucking bugattis and shit
00:44:50.460 i don't know are you yeah of course okay well then bro good because uh you're gonna have to make a lot
00:44:58.180 of more fucking money than you're making now all right so where is that place that you need to be
00:45:05.120 in order for you to have those things and then you have to account for all of your friends and all of
00:45:14.740 your family and your future family and what you want their lifestyle to be and how you want to take
00:45:21.300 care of them and this is a big mistake that a lot of young people make they set their goals for
00:45:28.820 themselves not realizing that one it's going to take a lot more money than what you think
00:45:35.140 number two you're going to have other obligations come across your life that you don't currently have
00:45:42.720 you're probably going to meet someone you're probably going to have a family your family that
00:45:47.880 you have now your mom your dad your brother your sister some of somebody's going to get sick
00:45:53.760 you know there's going to be things that happen and so when we're young and i'm very this is one
00:45:59.700 of the things i did right this is something i always thought about and even though i never had kids
00:46:05.100 i always thought that i was going to so i always based my goal around how i wanted to have my family be
00:46:12.420 even when i was 20 years old and because of that you know i've i've built a very big life especially
00:46:22.860 for my age most of the people that have something of this size are 75 years old at the end of their
00:46:30.180 life but because i thought about it the right way where you still have this opportunity to think about
00:46:37.080 it i was able to create something that was able to accomplish all of that and so if you want to be
00:46:43.300 hungry dude you got to set bigger goals you got to set a bigger plan you got to say all right this is
00:46:49.360 where i want to be 10 years from now 20 years from now not just one year from now or two years from
00:46:56.260 now and then we work backwards and create a system to to make that reality um that is the that's the
00:47:04.420 big thing to restore hunger you you got to be real and and dude you know sometimes you know at 19 years
00:47:10.340 old we don't have the capacity or the understanding of how life's going to play out so but you have to
00:47:17.540 take it for people that have been down the path bro you got to make so much more money than what
00:47:21.960 you think dude and what society tells us we need is just not the truth um for ambitious people that
00:47:29.420 want to be financially free and successful in a real way secondly after all of that um the up and down
00:47:37.800 situation can be one of a couple things okay there is a natural progression
00:47:44.360 that goes three steps or two steps forward one step back or three steps forward one step back
00:47:52.520 that's pretty normal you know um in business typically what i try to what i've experienced
00:47:59.320 and what i've tried to coach people on is that it's usually about three years once you get once you get
00:48:06.260 the run-up going you'll have about three years and then you'll have a flat year or two where you have
00:48:12.780 to regroup and then you'll go on another run and so the pattern if you could visualize it it sort of
00:48:20.240 you know goes up then it gets flat then it goes up then it gets flat and that's normal um so so don't
00:48:27.420 put too much into uh obsessing over you know that you know you go hard and then regress a little bit
00:48:36.260 if that's what's going on now there's another thing that happens that you that may or may not be
00:48:41.920 happening here only you will know but you you know uh jason you know what a bell curve is right
00:48:50.040 yeah it's like the thing when it goes up and down there you go okay so i want you to visualize a
00:48:58.000 bell curve all right and you're at the front of the bell curve on the left hand side and you don't
00:49:03.160 know shit you you're totally ignorant to what it takes to succeed and you start to want to go up
00:49:11.020 that curve and because you don't know shit you you are very coachable you're looking around at other
00:49:18.220 successful people you're watching what they do you're saying all right i'm a blank canvas and i'm
00:49:23.820 going to form myself into someone who can move up and they find these techniques we find these
00:49:32.060 techniques we find these things uh that start to move us up the curve and we start to have some
00:49:38.680 success and then we say okay this is working so then we do more of these things and then we start
00:49:44.700 to have more success and as that success as you start to approach the top of the curve something
00:49:51.580 usually happens and it happens to everybody it's not just me or you or fucking you know uh it's
00:49:59.580 everybody is that the first time this happens or the second time this happens we we look at ourselves
00:50:07.420 and we start to tell ourselves a story that really isn't true and what we tell ourselves is is that we're
00:50:14.820 special and we're good at what we do and we're gifted and look at this success it's me but it's not
00:50:22.360 you and it's not me it's the actions that we took along the way and so what happens is is people let
00:50:28.840 their ego start to make them believe that they are special that it's them and that whatever they
00:50:35.520 touch will actually work and because they stop doing the things that got them there
00:50:41.500 and and stop valuing the system that got them there they start to go back down the other side of the
00:50:47.940 curve and then what happens is they fall all the way down they get to the bottom and then by the time
00:50:53.540 they're at the bottom they're humble again all right because they're like fuck i just lost everything
00:50:58.020 what the fuck so then they start listening again and then they go back to the system and then they
00:51:05.320 go up the curve and then the same thing happens again and again and again and so most people's lives
00:51:11.240 look like a giant up and down right like the you start to the left it goes up it comes back down
00:51:17.580 goes up comes back down like a wave and you have to break that pattern by recognizing that when you are
00:51:26.560 successful and when you are doing well at the top of that curve you have to stop and be aware and say
00:51:33.400 okay i've been here before this is happening it's good what happened last time that it fell apart
00:51:40.240 and how do i avoid that and the answer usually is very simple it's you have to continue to do the
00:51:46.620 things that got you there improve upon them and be extra diligent about keeping your uh your foot on the
00:51:54.140 throttle to make sure that you continue to move up as opposed to falling back down the other side of
00:51:58.820 the curve in fact guys um we need to work at some sort of whiteboard situation in here so i can like
00:52:04.340 do that um so for next show let's have that but does that make sense to you brother yeah that makes like
00:52:13.240 a lot of sense and there's something like i want to add just like uh very true like what you said
00:52:18.280 uh when it comes to the point like where you start to get momentum and just keep going but i feel like
00:52:23.700 right now like also i'm becoming like fearful of like going back down again um there's like also
00:52:31.320 something and that's like specifically related to money and having like a fear of losing what i worked
00:52:36.600 for if that makes sense yeah for sure bro um why do you think that's a bad thing
00:52:43.240 although it's like makes me it feels like i i can't take like the risk that i want to take
00:52:52.140 and feel like i'm very protective of everything it makes me like a bit anxious it feels like i'm going
00:52:56.200 to lose it whenever okay so it makes you it makes you hesitate is what you're saying yeah yeah correct
00:53:01.740 yeah that's the word okay so so you have to reframe this all right in your mind that it's instead of
00:53:09.660 letting it make you hesitate it should be a signal to go harder okay when you start to feel the
00:53:17.320 hesitation and you start to feel like oh man maybe i'm going to lose what what happens that's awareness
00:53:24.360 bro and and that you're you're you're being a realist okay and a lot of people will say oh don't
00:53:29.740 think about that because you'll fucking attract it and yeah if you obsess about losing you're going to
00:53:35.060 lose but if it pops into your head and you get a little scared and you get a little anxious
00:53:40.620 that's your awareness telling you that i need to push forward i need to continue to go and
00:53:48.080 that is not a bad thing that's a really great thing bro because most people don't have that fear of
00:53:55.580 losing and then all of a sudden they just lost and they're like how'd this happen what happened here
00:54:00.100 right so the fear is actually a good signal to receive because it pushes you down the path further
00:54:08.160 jason i am terrified of fucking losing bro i fucking i i i think about it all the time bro
00:54:15.340 i don't want to lose but you know what happens when i start to feel like i'm losing these guys in here
00:54:20.320 know exactly what the fuck happened what happens you get about 7 000 text messages in an hour
00:54:25.540 this shit gets going again right exactly so yeah dude and they do is that true or not true
00:54:31.880 it's fucking real can you guys tell when i'm starting to get fucking nervous absolutely all
00:54:35.300 right because bro that's and other motherfuckers won't tell you this because they want to be like
00:54:39.900 oh i'm never scared i'm always well let me tell you something bro i'm scared all the fucking time
00:54:43.920 that's why i run so fast you know i don't want to go back to where i came from i don't want to
00:54:49.080 fucking lose and so the minute i start to feel that i start to do things that are productive
00:54:53.820 towards where i want to go and uh you will never eliminate that fear brother it will never go away
00:55:00.180 even when you've gotten to where you want to go and you're you've accomplished everything that you've
00:55:05.640 ever want to accomplish you're going to still have that fear because that's an that's the trait of an
00:55:11.740 ambitious person someone who is a builder a creator and you were gifted with that not everybody's
00:55:17.940 gifted with that bro so it's actually a really good thing that you have that as long as you don't
00:55:24.720 hesitate and instead of hesitating it should trigger you forward does that make sense that makes a lot
00:55:31.800 of sense i actually haven't thought of it before like i usually have like listen to people and like
00:55:37.260 your mindset and stuff and they always say like you need to be abundant and stuff like that there's truth
00:55:42.680 to that too you don't want to obsess over the fear okay you want to feel it you want to accept it you
00:55:49.260 want to recognize what it is and then you want to get focused on the abundance and the wealth and the
00:55:54.760 success that you're going to create by taking action by taking action you got to do something yeah you got
00:56:01.160 to take action dude yeah so um listen for 19 years old man this is this is totally normal and
00:56:09.560 unfortunately i i wish i could tell you hey man uh it goes away after this but it's never gone away
00:56:17.120 for me um i i don't think i don't think it will ever go away for me because i think i've been
00:56:23.440 implanted with some sort of drive that is just part of who i am and part of my dna and one of my good
00:56:31.400 friends who's been on the show before uh zoltan from five finger death punch we were sitting in my
00:56:37.000 we were sitting in my uh in my cigar lounge and we were having a conversation you were there
00:56:41.960 and i was telling him how i was struggling sort of like with what you're talking about um only for me
00:56:48.640 it was i have a hard time fitting in with regular people and caring about what regular people care
00:56:55.320 about because it's just not interesting to me and every time i try to care about it i get miserable
00:57:01.240 and he said something to me that was just like it kind of reset it made it fixed my mentality
00:57:08.120 immediately he's like bro um did you ever think that maybe you're just a fucking warrior and this
00:57:13.200 is what you're meant to do because the world needs people like you and it fixed my whole mentality and
00:57:19.340 now that that anxiety and that frustration is just something that i've accepted about myself and i think
00:57:25.900 you would do yourself a massive favor brother by just accepting that you were given the gift of
00:57:32.820 ambition and drive and it's very important for you to fulfill that and you're going to feel differently
00:57:39.480 than what most people feel most people are going to get satisfaction from earning x amount of dollars
00:57:44.700 and living a normal life and doing this the regular things that everybody else does and unfortunately bro
00:57:50.760 that's probably going to feel weird for you and um because you're built differently and there is a
00:57:56.940 true thing of people being built differently and given different gifts and when you're given the gift of
00:58:02.760 being a builder and a creator and someone who who contributes um and also you know as a result of
00:58:09.780 the things you build create and contribute you become wealthy it's just a different life dude and and
00:58:15.340 there's going to be anxiety and there's going to be fear and there's going to be frustration
00:58:18.820 and as long as you know how to deal with those things properly brother um it's you're going to
00:58:24.900 be one of the people that everybody looks at and says that's why i know i can do what i'm going to
00:58:29.960 try to do and i think that's the most noble thing that we can do as human beings is to inspire others
00:58:34.440 through our own stories yeah man it sounds really good like when you reframe it like that it's actually
00:58:41.460 like kind of a positive honestly yeah so it makes me like you push forward what i haven't thought of it
00:58:46.760 yeah you've been you've been given a gift jason yeah appreciate it man yeah you're not like
00:58:52.300 you're not like everybody else you wouldn't be calling into this show if you were
00:58:56.300 yeah yeah like i had a different path like before i dropped out of school when i was like 16 to
00:59:02.220 go into like entrepreneurship and stuff like that yeah and also i've been an inspiration for it uh
00:59:08.240 for me to do that as well to go all in on this well brother you're the reason i appreciate that
00:59:12.560 hey bro you're the reason i do this shit bro i just you i love that we're doing call-ins now
00:59:18.500 because it reminds me that like people are actually going out and executing so i appreciate that very
00:59:24.060 much dude but what i appreciate more is that you have the courage to go out and do this because
00:59:29.220 it's required man people need to see these stories and they need to see uh you know young jason who
00:59:35.560 dropped out of school at 15 years old to build something that he cared about that's going to inspire
00:59:40.980 other people man you know i was never someone who did well in school either i i couldn't do it i
00:59:45.920 wasn't focused on it it wasn't something i cared about and hearing the stories of other people gave
00:59:52.560 me hope it said okay well maybe you're not meant for that path maybe you're meant for this path and
00:59:58.500 i spent a lot of time thinking i was fucked up but until i found other stories of people that felt like
01:00:05.220 me bro um it was a bad situation for me mentally so like remember this 10 years from now people are
01:00:14.200 going to be looking at you in your community and in your country and they're going to be saying fuck
01:00:18.980 dude jason did it i could fucking do it i'm not built like everybody i'm not getting straight a's
01:00:24.880 that doesn't mean that i can't go out and build shit and it's going to be a very important thing
01:00:29.060 dude and and um i really have a tremendous amount of respect for anybody who decides to go do that
01:00:35.100 because it's against the grain and it takes a lot of courage to do and uh i really really
01:00:40.400 fucking appreciate you doing it dude yeah thank you man appreciate it by the way i think everybody
01:00:46.400 is listening to the show should do so if i were as well i jumped onto that as well yeah freaking
01:00:50.520 amazing so far i'm going to finish i have like 20 days left fuck yeah man it's freaking great man
01:00:55.500 and listening to the show every day as well so i love what you guys are doing there
01:00:58.680 thank you thank you brother i appreciate it man we all appreciate it we're all sitting here so
01:01:04.080 we appreciate you bro all right jason we'll catch in with you next time man yeah thank you guys have
01:01:09.840 a great day you too i love that dude bro i fucking love hearing from these young young people doing it
01:01:18.300 dude it's so inspiring to me yeah it makes me feel like dude because you know you know me
01:01:24.340 as well as anybody one of the biggest things i struggle with is like does this what we do here
01:01:30.060 even matter you know what i mean like i don't see the people out here doing these things motherfuckers
01:01:35.060 in sweden i know and that i just love that yeah like it makes me feel like okay well maybe
01:01:39.960 because dude even if one or two people do this if i spend 10 years and fucking one or two or five
01:01:46.500 people it's worth it you know 100 bro i love it dude um yeah i think the biggest piece on that
01:01:53.460 man is making you got you got to dream bigger yeah you got it you got to make that vision so
01:01:57.760 fucking big bro it's hard for people who have never witnessed that in person to do um that's why we
01:02:06.520 talk about i think we talked about this last week too but like people have to do intentional proximity
01:02:12.520 success you can't you have to be intentional about it you have to go where they go you have to be around
01:02:17.740 who they are you have to make friends with them if you have to pay to be in a network that's okay
01:02:22.260 make sure it's not one of these fucking stupid ones make sure it's the real one yeah but the
01:02:26.480 point is is that if you've never experienced it you have to intentionally be around it and that
01:02:32.160 doesn't mean anything more than proximity and i think the most valuable thing that people can learn
01:02:37.460 from being around successful people and this is what i've learned this is the biggest lesson i've
01:02:42.980 ever learned about people is that they're all normal like you and me and everybody else they're not
01:02:47.560 special i used to think they were special bro i used to think it was a club i used to think there
01:02:51.240 was like a special handshake or a fucking secret knock and that's not what it is dude it's it's
01:02:56.900 regular people who have huge massive goals who almost always have a massive chip on their shoulder
01:03:04.220 to prove something and they just go and um you know this is why we talk about the myth of this lesson
01:03:13.200 this this myth that goes around like oh man that guy did all that but he must have had it
01:03:19.400 fucking handed to him and it was so easy no you stupid fuck the reason that these people built
01:03:25.680 shit is because it was hard for them at some point in their life and they learned grit resilience and
01:03:32.900 they had enough pain from where they came from that they want to get the fuck away from it no matter what
01:03:38.600 it takes the people that are the most successful that are self-made are generally the ones that come
01:03:45.520 from the hardest situations that's the fucking truth it is the complete opposite of what most
01:03:51.200 people say so you know if you're doing you're trying to do shit and you see you know you look
01:03:59.520 around you're like fuck my life is so fucked i don't know like no that's great because you get
01:04:05.220 to unfuck it you know what i'm saying absolutely and that provides enough internal drive and energy and
01:04:10.080 like fucking anger and rage and like energy to like make it happen dude and eventually you know
01:04:17.460 you get past that point eventually you get mostly past it you know someone step on your toes that's
01:04:23.700 different but you'll get to a point where it's very purpose-driven and there are purpose-driven
01:04:28.680 people that start out at the beginning purpose-driven but it's few and far between yeah i love it dude
01:04:34.720 i love it guys yeah andy bro that that was that was three yep all right guys let's go kick ass we'll see
01:04:42.160 you when we see you went from sleeping on the floor now my jewelry box froze fuck a pole fuck a stove
01:04:49.100 counted millions in the code bad bitch booted swole got her on bankroll can't fold doesn't know
