00:00:00.000 All I do is work, work, work, never on the sidelines, I only, hustle, I don't ever take your day off, I only, work, work, work, I don't mess around, kid, I only, can't, can't, can't, what he never sees, gets you, all I do is work.
00:00:14.900 I'm Tandy Priscilla, this is the MFCEO Project Podcast. I am here with my host, Vaughn Kohler. What's up, Vaughn?
00:00:21.400 Not a lot.
00:00:22.440 How you doing, brother?
00:00:23.180 I'm doing pretty well, yeah. We're at the, like, well, I was going to say the peak of our popularity, but...
00:00:29.160 The peak?
00:00:29.380 No, it's not really a peak.
00:00:30.360 Shit, man, it's like our first two steps.
00:00:32.940 Dude, I can't, I can't, like, I'm beside myself, I have 1,500 Instagram followers, I mean, it's crazy.
00:00:39.060 1,500, you're killing it.
00:00:39.760 Like, I'm Insta-famous, I mean, watch out Dan Balzerian, you know?
00:00:43.860 Yeah, Dan better watch his ass.
00:00:45.660 Seriously.
00:00:45.920 Here's the deal, guys, if you're not following Vaughn on Instagram, go follow him, it's at Vaughn Kohler, spell that for him.
00:00:53.400 V-A-U-G-H-N-K-O-H-L-E-R.
00:00:56.320 And go follow him, post some rude comments and some, like, finger emojis and eggplants.
00:01:04.720 I appreciate that.
00:01:05.260 Because that's the kind of stuff that he likes on his Instagram.
00:01:06.300 I appreciate that.
00:01:06.760 Hey, bad presses.
00:01:08.220 That's right.
00:01:08.520 Any press is good press, right?
00:01:09.960 Yeah.
00:01:10.240 So, here we are, Thursday Q&A.
00:01:13.480 Yeah.
00:01:13.920 So, you confused me a little earlier.
00:01:16.020 Are we taking questions off of the Periscope people?
00:01:20.240 Oh, we're doing Periscope live.
00:01:22.580 Oh, okay.
00:01:23.420 I just, you know, I'm all into Periscope right now.
00:01:26.900 Right.
00:01:27.620 So, we talk about it.
00:01:28.600 If you guys aren't on Periscope, go to Periscope.
00:01:30.680 Follow me, at Andy Fursella on Periscope.
00:01:33.660 I do daily broadcasts, basically like little mini podcasts.
00:01:39.860 That's kind of how it works.
00:01:41.440 You can ask questions live.
00:01:42.780 And I actually have it going right here.
00:01:44.280 What's up, guys?
00:01:44.940 How are you?
00:01:46.880 And these guys are checking out the taping of the MSCEO project right now.
00:01:51.220 But, no, we are going to do our regular podcast.
00:01:53.500 All right.
00:01:53.540 I'm just kind of letting these guys check it out.
00:01:55.640 Okay.
00:01:56.060 So.
00:01:56.880 Sounds good.
00:01:57.620 Well, are you ready for the first question?
00:01:59.180 I'm ready.
00:01:59.420 Let's do this.
00:01:59.980 All right.
00:02:01.320 Andy, you and Gary Vee both.
00:02:03.680 Look at that.
00:02:04.220 You're being associated with Gary Vee.
00:02:06.220 So, that's great.
00:02:07.260 You and Gary Vee both have talked about the power of focus.
00:02:12.740 But you're also serial entrepreneurs.
00:02:14.920 You've said that you have multiple companies.
00:02:17.320 And, of course, Gary has founded multiple companies over time.
00:02:20.660 Could you share with me, real quick, the pros and cons of just having one company and sticking
00:02:28.100 to it through the long haul and having multiple companies?
00:02:31.460 Yeah.
00:02:31.800 Look, I just did.
00:02:33.320 This brings up Periscope again, dude.
00:02:35.220 I am in love with this app.
00:02:36.300 But I just did a Periscope last night on this concept titled Opportunity Quicksand.
00:02:43.000 Okay.
00:02:43.180 It's one of the biggest things that kills entrepreneurs besides, I would say, the lack
00:02:52.940 of action where people get stuck in the planning zone and then move to action zone.
00:02:58.480 People have trouble making that leap.
00:03:00.420 The second, besides that aspect of killing entrepreneurs, the second best thing that kills
00:03:05.560 entrepreneurs out there is Opportunity Quicksand.
00:03:08.140 And what that is, is that's somebody who is what they call a serial entrepreneur.
00:03:13.060 And they look at all these different businesses out there and they decide they're going to
00:03:17.200 open everything and do everything and be everything and focus all their energy across all these
00:03:22.500 different concepts.
00:03:24.980 And when you do that, what happens is, is you're not able to focus energy in on your one bread
00:03:31.020 and butter concept or two bread and butter concepts that you need for those to work.
00:03:36.280 And so your energy, just like you would do if you had a wall or an amp breaker, you know,
00:03:43.840 and it was, you had 15 plugs pulled in, they all get less power than if you have one plug.
00:03:48.120 All right.
00:03:48.840 So you have to think about the amount of energy that's being applied to those concepts.
00:03:53.380 And what happens is people get, you know, two or three years into something and then
00:03:58.760 they look at something else and they're like, shit, that looks like it's easier.
00:04:01.140 And they hop over here and then they get two or three years more in and they hop over
00:04:04.860 here and they go from one thing to another thing to another thing and they never really
00:04:09.580 get anywhere.
00:04:10.260 So that is like the con.
00:04:11.680 That's like the ultimate con.
00:04:13.080 I call it opportunity quicksand.
00:04:14.980 It's a very, very, very bad disease that infects many, many entrepreneurs.
00:04:20.860 Okay.
00:04:21.880 But, you know, obviously the pros of having other things in the fire are that you're diversified.
00:04:30.680 Okay.
00:04:31.000 So we own many companies, but all my companies are vertically integrated and they all relate
00:04:35.040 to one another.
00:04:35.600 So the focus can be applied and put into the right context.
00:04:39.460 All right.
00:04:41.000 Gary Vee is the same way.
00:04:42.580 You know, all his companies are somewhat related and they're at least related to his
00:04:47.660 passions.
00:04:48.220 Okay.
00:04:48.620 Where he's interested and he can focus those, you know, he's got the wine library and then
00:04:52.140 he's got a, he's got a, a Vayner media and all that.
00:04:55.540 So I would say that the pros are, you know, Hey, um, well, the, the pros to sticking with
00:05:02.640 one business is that it gets all your focus.
00:05:04.540 Okay.
00:05:04.900 The cons are you're not diversified and vice versa.
00:05:08.060 You know, the pros are, if you're diversified, that you're diversified, which makes you, uh,
00:05:13.840 you know, if you're one business over here crashes, you still have these other ones to
00:05:19.340 rely on.
00:05:19.880 Um, but the problem with that is, is that most people are not capable of doing that.
00:05:25.480 So I would say maybe two out of every 100 can do that.
00:05:29.720 You know, guys like Richard Branson, most people have to stay focused.
00:05:32.960 So I would say that if you want to diversify your business and open multiple companies,
00:05:38.140 make them vertically integrated somehow, make them, make them all related.
00:05:43.100 Is that what you mean by vertically integrated?
00:05:45.180 I mean, you're in the process of all the aspects from top to bottom.
00:05:50.860 Like for us, we, we do everything from cultivate raw ingredients to manufacturing products, to
00:05:56.520 a wholesaling products, to distributing products, to selling products, to end users, to our own
00:06:00.960 retail stores.
00:06:01.600 So everything, even though we own multiple companies, they all are related.
00:06:05.600 Okay.
00:06:06.540 That's one way to keep your focus strong and still be diversified.
00:06:10.220 Okay.
00:06:10.620 So if our retail business takes a dump, I've still got these other companies that can work
00:06:14.860 with other companies.
00:06:15.700 You see what I mean?
00:06:16.840 So that's what, you know, that's one way people could keep the focus.
00:06:20.140 But generally speaking, most people cannot focus the way it needs to be focused on multiple
00:06:24.940 businesses and be successful.
00:06:26.600 So I would say stick with what you know, and when you're ready to grow and you're ready to
00:06:30.520 diversify, diversify within your knowledge realm.
00:06:33.640 Awesome.
00:06:34.260 Yeah.
00:06:34.780 Great answer.
00:06:35.260 I'm going to actually tack on another question just because, you know, I know we've talked about
00:06:39.060 just focusing on one question, but I'm going to add another question because this one,
00:06:44.680 I don't think it's going to take you very long to answer.
00:06:46.700 Plus it refers to one of my favorite movies of all time.
00:06:49.040 Which is what?
00:06:50.200 Well, you're going to find out.
00:06:51.600 So Andy-
00:06:52.080 Days of Thunder?
00:06:52.480 Days of Thunder is the greatest movie ever made.
00:06:54.540 You've got to be kidding me.
00:06:55.820 Days of Thunder?
00:06:56.900 The racing one with Dick Trickle or whatever his name is?
00:06:59.420 The greatest fucking movie.
00:07:00.040 Dude, Cole Trickle, man.
00:07:01.280 Cole Trickle.
00:07:01.660 You're fired.
00:07:02.160 Okay.
00:07:03.700 Better than-
00:07:04.540 Days of Thunder.
00:07:05.240 Better than Fifty Shades?
00:07:06.400 Come on.
00:07:07.480 Better than Fifty Shades.
00:07:08.620 That's Tyler's favorite movie.
00:07:10.500 Yeah.
00:07:11.060 Seriously.
00:07:11.640 Where's your pink shorts at today, buddy?
00:07:13.480 I ran out of them.
00:07:16.220 All right.
00:07:16.760 Here's the question.
00:07:17.600 Andy, you know that old movie Karate Kid?
00:07:21.780 Dude, come on.
00:07:23.140 No, it's like the greatest movie of all time.
00:07:25.420 Karate Kid is not better than Days of Thunder.
00:07:28.360 Well, we're not talking about the stupid-
00:07:29.740 We're going to ask Periscope.
00:07:31.080 Periscope.
00:07:32.960 Days of Thunder or Karate Kid?
00:07:34.960 Of course they're going to side with you.
00:07:36.320 And I'm not talking about Karate Kid with Will Smith's son.
00:07:39.100 That movie didn't happen, as far as I'm concerned.
00:07:41.480 Oh, dude.
00:07:41.900 It's unanimous Days of Thunder.
00:07:43.140 Oh, my gosh.
00:07:44.540 Ninja Turtles.
00:07:45.400 You got a bunch of NASCAR fans following you, I think.
00:07:47.980 Oh, we got one Karate Kid.
00:07:49.460 Nice.
00:07:49.780 Karate Thunder.
00:07:50.740 Karate Thunder.
00:07:51.780 I like it.
00:07:52.500 I like it.
00:07:53.220 All right.
00:07:53.640 We'll let that win.
00:07:54.700 Okay.
00:07:55.040 All right.
00:07:55.460 Here's the question.
00:07:56.340 You know that old movie Karate Kid?
00:07:58.500 I'm quoting here, by the way.
00:08:00.220 Where Daniel learns karate from doing other shit like waxing the floor.
00:08:07.380 Yeah, I do.
00:08:08.520 I love your fan mail.
00:08:10.460 Oh, they're the best.
00:08:11.740 All right.
00:08:12.480 Are there any specific areas of life like science, politics, entertainment?
00:08:17.200 This is actually a pretty good question.
00:08:18.720 Where you find lessons that you can apply to business, like strategies?
00:08:23.920 I hear what they're saying.
00:08:25.940 Yeah.
00:08:26.160 Did you get the question?
00:08:26.940 Here's the thing about being-
00:08:29.020 By the way, that's Eugene from Grand Forks, South Dakota.
00:08:32.380 Eugene, what's up, brother?
00:08:33.680 Yes.
00:08:33.960 Here's the deal.
00:08:35.420 Yes, absolutely.
00:08:36.540 You can learn lessons about business in lots of different things.
00:08:39.940 One of the biggest things that I found helpful through my journey was that I played sports.
00:08:45.480 I learned a lot of lessons that are very relatable to business through playing sports my whole life.
00:08:51.840 You know, things about leadership, about getting a team to work together, about, you know, I always talk about the Viking ship and getting everybody rowing the same direction.
00:09:00.260 And if one side's rowing quicker than the other side, what happens?
00:09:03.240 You go in circles, you know?
00:09:04.640 And so, yes, you can learn lessons.
00:09:07.440 And, I mean, even if you're not an athlete, you can learn them through different things, like competing.
00:09:10.620 You could even learn how to compete.
00:09:12.720 You know, a lot of these dudes play fucking video games their whole life now.
00:09:15.580 It's like, you know, they sit there with their headset and they fucking, you know, shoot people across the world through their TV screen.
00:09:22.700 Dude, you can learn a lot about winning and losing just through that.
00:09:25.380 I mean, there's so many lessons to learn that are applicable to business.
00:09:29.520 I couldn't even begin to narrow them down.
00:09:31.500 I mean, it's just so, so many.
00:09:34.840 You know what I mean?
00:09:36.040 So, yes, the answer is yes.
00:09:37.780 You can learn many different places, even school, because a lot of these guys hate school.
00:09:42.860 You know, and they look for reasons to get out of it without having a plan, okay?
00:09:46.780 By the way.
00:09:47.760 That's key, having a plan.
00:09:48.960 Don't fucking quit school unless you have a plan.
00:09:50.940 Right.
00:09:51.260 You know, all these guys look, oh, I quit school.
00:09:52.840 I'm like, fuck.
00:09:53.800 Yeah.
00:09:54.900 Because of you.
00:09:55.680 Look what I did.
00:09:56.180 Yeah, right.
00:09:57.040 You're going to have the NEA after you, you know?
00:09:59.000 All those teachers are going to be really ticked off of you.
00:10:00.740 That's not what I'm trying to do.
00:10:01.920 Yeah.
00:10:02.020 You can learn a lot in school.
00:10:03.040 It's just, you know, I quit because I had a business that was four or five years old that needed my attention.
00:10:09.380 Right.
00:10:09.600 You know, unless you're in that, you know, do something.
00:10:12.060 No, just sit around.
00:10:13.200 Right.
00:10:13.600 Right.
00:10:14.040 So we were talking about how great your fans are, and I got to say that there's this one fan in particular.
00:10:20.160 He's kind of psychotic.
00:10:21.220 He very, very, very much wants to win this, you know, come be with Andy for a day.
00:10:27.060 Oh, to come visit him?
00:10:27.760 Yeah.
00:10:28.180 Yeah.
00:10:28.460 And I got to admit, he's been persistent enough.
00:10:31.720 Like, he tweets out to me literally every day.
00:10:34.520 Yeah.
00:10:34.720 And, and, and Instagram and he, and he's emailed like a billion times.
00:10:39.580 So I am going to, I'm going to condescend to mention him on the radio, or I guess we're not on the radio, but you know what I mean?
00:10:46.140 Yeah.
00:10:46.320 So his name is at Vinnie Logs, L-O-G-S.
00:10:50.900 Okay.
00:10:51.120 So he's from the Bronx, I think, or some part of New York.
00:10:53.900 So why don't you give him a shout out?
00:10:55.240 Say hi, Vinnie.
00:10:55.840 Vinnie Logs?
00:10:56.520 Yeah.
00:10:56.960 I like that name.
00:10:57.600 Yeah, I think so.
00:10:58.500 But I think he's a personal trainer or something, but.
00:11:00.600 Vinnie Logs.
00:11:01.200 He, but I'll just say.
00:11:02.620 Vinnie Logs either sounds like real gangster or like, I ate like chili last night.
00:11:06.860 Part of the reason that I'm actually, you know, giving him a shout out is that I'm not entirely sure he's not going to like show up at my house with an axe and, and, you know.
00:11:15.100 He might.
00:11:15.560 Hunt me down, but in any case, but.
00:11:18.440 He's here.
00:11:19.060 There he is.
00:11:19.560 There he is.
00:11:20.160 There he is.
00:11:20.560 He's on Periscope.
00:11:21.500 I see him.
00:11:22.800 Vinnie.
00:11:23.420 No fucking way.
00:11:24.440 I swear he's right there.
00:11:25.520 Yeah, he, yeah, he did.
00:11:26.580 He, that's how I know.
00:11:27.340 He said he was.
00:11:27.840 He said I'm here.
00:11:28.200 He said he's on Periscope.
00:11:29.220 We're talking about you live on the MSCEO project.
00:11:32.960 Yeah.
00:11:33.440 Vinnie, Vinnie Logs.
00:11:34.740 Now tell him so that everybody hears, basically the selection process for this whole thing about, you know, you bringing people out here.
00:11:42.560 Yeah.
00:11:42.880 I mean, what do, what do people got to do?
00:11:44.680 Do they just got to go, they got to email.
00:11:46.700 They're going to, okay, first of all, I think I'm going to bring a second person out.
00:11:49.760 Yeah, I like that idea.
00:11:51.160 So I'm thinking about, you know, maybe doing another scope later on today about that.
00:11:54.620 I haven't decided for sure yet, but what we're doing is we're bringing somebody out, okay, one of my Periscope followers.
00:12:01.300 And this is why it's cool to follow me on social media, because I'll do shit like this sometimes.
00:12:05.580 Yeah.
00:12:05.680 So they've got to click 500 hearts, okay, on Periscope that qualify.
00:12:12.440 That's kind of low.
00:12:13.100 You know, it's pretty easy to hit those hearts.
00:12:14.920 It is easy.
00:12:15.700 But, I mean, you know, you'd be surprised.
00:12:17.720 It's all my friends that don't give me any hearts.
00:12:19.680 They're all haters.
00:12:21.460 So anyway.
00:12:22.060 I'll have to get on and do it.
00:12:22.740 Yeah, no shit.
00:12:23.500 Yeah.
00:12:23.860 And all the guys that work for me, they really like give me fingers instead of hearts.
00:12:26.940 But the point is, is that, so I came up with the idea of, hey, we're going to bring somebody in to come sit in on the MFCEO project to be a part of the show, go to lunch, go to dinner, hang out, and then basically spend some hours mentoring them on how to, you know, improve where they are in life.
00:12:50.280 Whether they're an employee of a company or a manager or a CEO or just thinking about getting in business, you know, we want to spend some time with them getting their plan cleared up.
00:13:00.520 So basically, you know, it would just be a situation where we help somebody in person.
00:13:05.060 It's something I've been wanting to do.
00:13:06.620 So I announced it through Periscope kind of off the top of my head, and we're going to do it.
00:13:12.060 Right.
00:13:12.360 So.
00:13:12.720 Nice.
00:13:14.440 So we're going to pick, and it might be a regular thing.
00:13:16.880 So, Vinny, if we don't pick you this time, you know, we're going to keep doing it, I think.
00:13:20.000 Yeah.
00:13:20.460 I like the idea of having somebody.
00:13:22.320 We had Sam in here the other day.
00:13:23.680 That was cool.
00:13:24.240 Yeah.
00:13:24.600 You know what I mean?
00:13:25.120 Very cool.
00:13:25.560 He dropped off the whiskey.
00:13:26.560 Yeah.
00:13:26.960 He got me the Pappy Van Winkle.
00:13:28.560 Yeah.
00:13:28.680 Ten year, baby.
00:13:29.740 Yeah.
00:13:30.100 I'm not drinking right now because I'm in my diet zone.
00:13:32.720 Yeah.
00:13:33.220 But, dude, that's how I'm going to celebrate my diet zone.
00:13:36.000 Yeah.
00:13:36.180 So evidently, somebody sent you granola that I was supposed to get some of.
00:13:39.380 Oh, dude.
00:13:39.680 Chris ate that shit.
00:13:41.240 Yeah.
00:13:41.620 Sorry, dude.
00:13:42.280 That's all right.
00:13:42.720 They're actually sending some directly to me.
00:13:45.820 Gluten free.
00:13:46.520 So one more question, and then we'll wrap up this one.
00:13:48.720 Do you have another question?
00:13:50.680 Well, I don't have a question.
00:13:52.420 All right.
00:13:52.600 Hey, let's take a question off of Periscope.
00:13:55.200 Guys on Periscope, ask me a question for the MFCEO project.
00:13:58.940 This is technology at its finest.
00:14:01.440 Right.
00:14:01.720 Okay?
00:14:02.720 We're going to do a question right now.
00:14:04.500 Yeah.
00:14:04.720 While you're looking or waiting for the question, I will mention to other people, I've been saying
00:14:10.380 that we're going to announce these review winners the first week of September.
00:14:14.020 So if this broadcast comes out, we might have already announced them.
00:14:19.100 I think you'll announce them on your Instagram.
00:14:20.480 If not, it's going to be very shortly after this broadcast.
00:14:22.880 So if you haven't sent in a review to iTunes, do so.
00:14:26.440 Take a screenshot of it and email it to askandyatthemfceo.com.
00:14:30.060 All right.
00:14:30.740 So here's the question.
00:14:32.500 What's the biggest key to hiring quality people?
00:14:36.280 Good question.
00:14:37.600 Really good question.
00:14:39.240 In-depth question.
00:14:40.280 If you're a business owner and you're paying attention to this, you need to pay really,
00:14:44.600 really close attention to how you hire good people.
00:14:47.620 Because here, let's face it.
00:14:49.340 Anybody could come in here and put on a fucking horse and dog and pony show or the fuck it's
00:14:55.580 called and act like there's something they're not, you know, try to act like, hey, I'm a
00:15:00.300 great guy.
00:15:00.980 And a week later, you find out the guy's full of shit.
00:15:04.780 You know, it's like dating.
00:15:05.820 You know, you don't know that person until they're six months in.
00:15:08.620 Just the reality.
00:15:09.740 Everybody's good at pretending up until that point.
00:15:11.500 So the way that you consistently hire good people and do it in foolproof manner is by
00:15:18.300 making sure that you instill a set of core values into your business.
00:15:22.240 Okay.
00:15:22.840 So it's like one of these things.
00:15:24.720 You've got to do a lot of work to get the process into play.
00:15:26.940 But once the process is into play, you don't have to worry about hiring because it weeds
00:15:30.540 itself out.
00:15:31.340 All right.
00:15:31.800 So what I mean by this is you want to instill a certain culture.
00:15:36.280 And so you have to establish the core values of your business up front and you have to start
00:15:40.820 working, speaking, firing, hiring, communicating in the terms of those core values, promoting,
00:15:48.620 you know, everything in the terms of those core values all the time with your company.
00:15:53.040 And eventually after, you know, after some time, it could take a year, could take, you
00:15:57.540 know, 18 months, but you will instill a tremendous culture in your business.
00:16:01.300 And then what happens is when people come in and they fool you, then your boys and your
00:16:06.000 girls that work for you, they will see right through that shit and fucking weed that person
00:16:09.980 out.
00:16:10.320 So they're not there that long.
00:16:11.900 They don't come in and can do damage.
00:16:13.640 They can't steal.
00:16:14.540 They can't fuck up your culture.
00:16:16.020 They can't do all of the shit that these people do.
00:16:18.520 So how you hire great people all the time is not go read an interview book, not go read
00:16:26.120 how to the right interview questions, all this shit.
00:16:28.900 You could prepare yourself from here to Mars.
00:16:31.460 But the reality is, if you instill a tremendous culture in your business through establishing
00:16:36.320 core values that your company lives by, the hiring and firing will take care of itself
00:16:42.260 because the people that live and breathe, eat, sleep, and love your company and love you
00:16:46.200 will take care of those people.
00:16:48.980 Okay?
00:16:49.420 So that's how it's done.
00:16:50.440 I like it.
00:16:51.060 I like it.
00:16:51.560 Well, that's it for, right?
00:16:52.960 Yeah, that's it, guys.
00:16:54.020 Look, hey, Vaughn, go through all the boring shit that you got to go through.
00:16:58.200 Oh, yeah.
00:16:58.960 Okay.
00:17:00.000 So, yes, everyone, for every one of these podcast episodes, including the Ask Andy podcast
00:17:05.980 episodes, we have a dedicated page on the website.
00:17:09.060 The website is themfceo.com, and the dedicated page for this website is themfceo.com slash QA4,
00:17:19.000 I think, or it could be five.
00:17:21.000 I really need to double check on these things.
00:17:23.640 Go to themfceo.com and see the latest one.
00:17:25.920 Actually, I think it's QA5.
00:17:27.020 But, guys, we love it when you go to our website.
00:17:31.260 We love it when you post comments under the blog post, or excuse me, the podcast entries.
00:17:37.900 So, it's just good for you to go there, sign up, subscribe to the podcast, and yeah, that's
00:17:46.080 all I need to say other than I think you know all of our social media stuff.
00:17:48.920 We're doing this for free.
00:17:49.840 We're not selling you shit.
00:17:51.160 Go in there.
00:17:51.860 Leave a fucking review.
00:17:52.740 All right?
00:17:53.520 I see all these people talking about the, you know, we get 10,000 downloads, 12,000 downloads
00:17:58.260 a day now.
00:17:59.440 We got like fucking five reviews.
00:18:00.820 Come on.
00:18:01.280 Yeah.
00:18:01.780 Let's put a little more fucking work into this.
00:18:03.600 Can I say something else, too, about something that people sometimes ask?
00:18:07.200 Those of you who have Android phones, you guys have lamented the fact that it's tough to
00:18:11.900 listen to the MFCEO on that.
00:18:14.560 Guys, there is an incredible app called Stitcher.
00:18:17.160 In some ways, I think it's better than the iTunes app.
00:18:20.040 The user experience is really good.
00:18:21.480 The interface is really easy.
00:18:23.100 Just download it.
00:18:24.020 It's free, and you can listen to the MFCEO on Stitcher.
00:18:29.420 And then, yeah.
00:18:30.800 And as far as those of you who don't have an iPhone who want to leave a review for us
00:18:36.000 but you say you can't, well, it's quite easy.
00:18:38.460 You just get on your computer, go to iTunes.com, create an Apple ID, which is free, and leave
00:18:45.560 a review.
00:18:45.940 But really, those are gold for us.
00:18:47.820 Yeah, guys, that's how we get our podcast ranked.
00:18:49.880 I mean, if we don't get reviews, we don't get ranked.
00:18:51.880 We've done a hell of a job.
00:18:52.940 You guys are killing it.
00:18:54.720 You know, we're trying to offer practical advice that you could take away and go improve
00:18:57.980 your business right now, your life right now.
00:19:01.660 We don't charge.
00:19:02.680 Just give us some love, man.
00:19:04.040 That's all we're asking for.
00:19:05.000 Yeah.
00:19:05.420 I'll close with this great story.
00:19:08.020 Early on in the podcast, I texted Andy, and I said, oh, we're doing real good with our rankings.
00:19:13.780 And he texted back, well, how are we doing compared to the big dogs, the people who were
00:19:19.760 established?
00:19:20.600 And I said, oh, you know, we're doing pretty well.
00:19:22.320 And his response was, I want to destroy everyone.
00:19:26.240 Dude, it's the truth.
00:19:27.560 I don't do shit that I don't want to fucking win.
00:19:30.280 Yeah.
00:19:30.700 I love it, though.
00:19:31.560 So you guys can help us destroy everyone.
00:19:35.080 Look, man.
00:19:36.220 Look, I'm humbled to even be included in some of these dudes, OK?
00:19:40.420 I see my podcast next to guys like Seth Godin and Gary Vee and these other dudes that I look
00:19:46.140 up to and think, holy shit, these guys have taught me so much.
00:19:49.140 Very responsible for where I am today because of the information that they have passed on to
00:19:53.860 me, OK?
00:19:57.760 Even Tim Ferriss.
00:19:58.820 You know, I've met Tim Ferriss a couple of times.
00:20:00.880 Cool dude.
00:20:01.600 You know, I'm grateful for that information.
00:20:05.100 So I'm humbled to be included with him.
00:20:06.700 But I mean, at the same time, man, I want to fucking win.
00:20:08.680 Absolutely.
00:20:09.200 And they want to destroy everybody, too.
00:20:10.960 It's the nature of wanting to be the best.
00:20:12.880 So it's not anything towards them.
00:20:15.440 It's just I just want to be number one.
00:20:18.020 Absolutely.
00:20:18.580 Well, this has been a great Q&A.
00:20:20.400 So why don't you wrap us up?
00:20:22.440 Yeah, guys, listen, send us your questions.
00:20:26.620 If you're not following Vaughn, like I said, follow him.
00:20:29.780 He's at Vaughn Kohler.
00:20:30.940 Follow Ben Newman.
00:20:31.820 He's not here.
00:20:32.540 At Continue Fight.
00:20:34.500 Tyler Hagley is, what is yours anyway?
00:20:37.100 You can always change it.
00:20:38.100 It's like coral pants or skinny pink shorts.
00:20:41.840 Pink shorts.
00:20:42.740 At pink shorts.
00:20:43.840 M-A-I underscore Tyler.
00:20:45.620 Yeah.
00:20:46.360 Tyler's our producer.
00:20:47.340 He's a good part of the show.
00:20:49.540 He doesn't have much to say.
00:20:50.840 And when he does, it's stupid.
00:20:51.740 I mean, it's great.
00:20:53.040 I would like to add, though, when you went back to the question about core values and
00:20:59.380 instilling your core values first.
00:21:00.980 Dude, I was setting up for the podcast one day, and Andy had some of his retail managers
00:21:05.940 here conducting interviews to work at his retail stores.
00:21:11.000 And as soon as the guys left that were getting interviewed, I saw the managers group together.
00:21:16.600 They literally went down the fucking core values, said no to all fucking four of them.
00:21:20.800 Yeah.
00:21:21.500 I mean, that's just...
00:21:23.300 I mean, you've been here long enough.
00:21:24.760 I mean, Tyler started with us in a retail store and has moved on to First Form and now
00:21:29.200 moved on to help me with the MSCO project.
00:21:31.900 I mean, you've been here long enough to see us instill the core values, instill the culture,
00:21:36.120 and then see how it works now.
00:21:37.660 Yeah.
00:21:37.820 But it's just, you know, people might think that, you know, you're lying that you hire
00:21:42.320 and fire by that shit, but dude, it's still instilled to this day.
00:21:45.860 So it's cool.
00:21:46.740 And there's a couple of good books about that too, guys.
00:21:48.740 If you want to check it out, go check out Delivering Happiness.
00:21:52.220 It's a story about Zappos.
00:21:53.560 It's written by Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.
00:21:56.020 There's another book called All In.
00:21:58.460 I'm not sure who wrote it.
00:22:00.140 I can't remember, but it's a good book.
00:22:01.460 And it has like little plastic monkeys on the front, like those little toy monkeys.
00:22:04.540 Nice.
00:22:05.140 So you can check that out too.
00:22:06.320 That sounds like Seth Godin.
00:22:07.760 No, it's not Seth.
00:22:08.420 It's not?
00:22:08.860 Yeah, it's not.
00:22:09.780 I know all his books.
00:22:10.720 Okay.
00:22:11.240 But you agree with the toy monkeys.
00:22:14.300 Look, dude, there's only two people on the face of the earth that I would stand in line
00:22:17.260 to meet.
00:22:17.840 Two.
00:22:18.520 I would not stand in line to meet anybody else other than these two men.
00:22:23.200 One of them is Seth Godin.
00:22:24.820 Hmm.
00:22:25.600 And the other one is The Fucking Rock.
00:22:27.640 Oh, yeah.
00:22:28.220 All right.
00:22:28.580 Yeah.
00:22:29.800 Speaking of which, guys.
00:22:31.620 Tweet out to The Rock.
00:22:32.860 Yeah.
00:22:33.560 Get him on our show.
00:22:35.180 We want him.
00:22:35.860 Dude.
00:22:36.860 We got to get to number one first.
00:22:38.860 I know.
00:22:39.120 That's true.
00:22:39.380 Yeah.
00:22:39.740 So the all-in book is called, the guy who wrote it is Adrian Gostic.
00:22:43.800 That's the name who wrote it.
00:22:45.500 It's a good book.
00:22:46.000 Good book on culture.
00:22:46.660 Nice.
00:22:47.160 All right.
00:22:47.420 Look, guys.
00:22:47.920 We're babbling.
00:22:48.580 We're talking.
00:22:50.640 Get out there.
00:22:51.660 Go kill some shit.
00:22:52.960 And let's make some shit happen.
00:22:54.100 All right?
00:22:54.340 Love you guys.
00:23:01.840 What I'm talking about, I only can.
00:23:03.720 Whether you never saves, gets your picture.
00:23:05.440 All I do is work.
00:23:06.900 All I do is work.
00:23:08.820 All I do is work.
00:23:10.180 All I do is work.
00:23:11.700 All I do is work.
00:23:13.720 All I do is work.
00:23:14.920 All I do is work
00:23:16.700 Hustling
00:23:17.720 All I do is work
00:23:20.060 All I do is work
00:23:21.720 All I do is work
00:23:25.120 All I do is work
