00:00:00.000 What is up guys you're listening to the MF CEO Project I'm Andy I'm your host and I am 0.97
00:00:12.080 the motherfucking CEO guys it's been a few weeks I've been missing Thursday thunders 0.91
00:00:18.220 I know but today I've got an extra special Friday fire for you I've got something I want 0.98
00:00:23.580 to talk to you guys about that I think is extremely important it's not necessarily motivational
00:00:29.440 but it's extremely valuable when it comes to entrepreneurship portraying yourself as an
00:00:35.480 entrepreneur practicing entrepreneur principles in your life no matter what position you currently
00:00:41.740 are and that is timing okay we've never addressed this topic and I get a lot of questions on
00:00:48.180 it I was watching the Super Bowl like most of you guys were this past Sunday and I noticed
00:00:54.280 a lot of times when I was watching the Atlanta Falcons try to run the football in the third
00:01:01.300 and fourth quarter that their running backs were not following the blocks they weren't
00:01:06.660 reading the reads they weren't seeing things happen they were not waiting for the the pass
00:01:13.160 to run to materialize and guys if you follow sports you know that if you are a running back
00:01:21.440 and you're not patient and we talk about that a lot aggressive patience but if you're not patient
00:01:26.520 to allow certain paths to open up you're not a very good running back and this has the same
00:01:33.140 implications in entrepreneurship and the problem with timing as an entrepreneurial principle is that
00:01:39.160 it takes a lot of mistakes regarding bad timing to recognize when you need to let timing materialize
00:01:47.100 okay so I want to try to address this with you guys and maybe save you some time whether you're an
00:01:53.740 employee who's asking for a raise or whether you're the CEO who's making a pivotal decision in your
00:02:01.440 company's path timing is very important all right you have to learn to recognize when the right time to
00:02:10.280 make moves is you know we talk about aggressive patience we talk about being aggressive we talk about
00:02:16.660 letting nothing stand in your way but sometimes things do stand in your way sometimes the
00:02:23.680 opportunity isn't quite ready yet sometimes the opportunity is ready right now and you need to act
00:02:30.680 right now okay and you have to be aware of that we talk a lot about busting through barriers and
00:02:37.200 running through walls and letting nothing stop you and that's all great and 90% of the time that's the
00:02:45.100 truth but sometimes there's obstacles in your way that you need to let pass sometimes there's things
00:02:51.780 in your way that you're not going to be able to run over or run through and that's why you have to
00:02:57.220 understand what timing is okay let me give you an example of this say you're an employee right now and
00:03:03.640 we talk to you guys a lot a lot of you guys are employees you're wanting to grow up and become CEOs
00:03:09.740 so you're practicing entrepreneurship principles now so let me speak to you guys right now 0.98
00:03:15.360 point number one is nobody's going to give you a fucking raise without you going and asking for the 0.95
00:03:22.400 raise point number two and this has to do with timing I can guarantee you if you do not have the ability 0.97
00:03:31.020 to recognize the right time and situation to ask for the raise you will never get a raise
00:03:37.900 I think from a CEO standpoint that timing and asking for a raise is literally the most important
00:03:45.420 factor into someone getting a raise because if you go to someone on a day that they're typically stressed
00:03:52.440 upset dealing with frustrations of business dealing with personal issues dealing with all the things
00:03:59.480 life has to throw at them and you're asking for a raise your chances of getting it are very little
00:04:04.800 in fact you're probably not only going to not get the raise you're going to piss the person off 0.65
00:04:10.280 okay that's why timing is important all the time you need to recognize like hey I need to go to this
00:04:16.140 person before anything bad happens to them in the day first thing in the morning I need to go to this
00:04:22.100 person on the day that they have the least amount of stress that they're the happiest and usually for a
00:04:27.560 CEO that's going to be the day that sales are typically the highest just being honest okay and you have to
00:04:33.520 delineate and separate these different components in your mind about what is going to take to
00:04:40.860 produce the best outcome you have when it comes to timing and sometimes that means you're going to 0.76
00:04:48.040 have to wait other times that means you're going to have to move right fucking now but you have to be 0.97
00:04:54.440 cautiously aware that timing is a factor now if you're the CEO and you're unrolling you know a new 0.87
00:05:02.180 product and you know a competitor is also making a product similar to that you want to be first to
00:05:07.540 market so you know that timing is right now okay and there's all kinds of other situations when it
00:05:12.880 comes to timing but guys what I wanted to talk to you about today was mainly that look I know we talk 0.54
00:05:20.840 about being aggressive I know we talk about kicking ass I know we talk about bursting through walls and 0.99
00:05:26.140 running shit over and being bad motherfuckers on this show all the time but you have to be aware 0.99
00:05:32.700 you have to be conscious you have to become skilled at recognizing when the timing is right because if 1.00
00:05:41.700 you never understand when the timing is right you're going to be the guy who's trying to kill an ant
00:05:47.480 with a bazooka and that's just not efficient okay you're going to expend all kinds of extra energy
00:05:53.540 when you don't need to expend it and you're not going to get the optimal result so guys pay attention
00:06:00.060 to timing pay attention to being patient but also pay attention to timing and know when to be aggressive
00:06:06.300 and let me tell you something this takes years to develop and the reason I'm bringing this up
00:06:11.660 is because it is a real thing it's not something that I can necessarily teach you how to you know
00:06:20.240 practice or teach you how to become good at it but what I can teach you is to be aware of it so that
00:06:26.980 when you are going through this journey you will be aware that and understand that timing is an issue
00:06:34.600 all right so guys be patient when you need patience be aggressive when you be aggressive become aware of
00:06:42.520 when those when situations dictate those certain things and you're going to have a lot more success
00:06:48.340 at a lot faster pace it's not just about running shit over all the time that's only like 98 percent
00:06:55.360 of the time the other two percent of the time you want to make sure that you know you let the lanes
00:07:00.400 develop you follow the blockers and you're going to be a lot more longer lived and a lot more successful
00:07:06.500 in this game in the long run
