REAL AF with Andy Frisella - How To Create Value in Yourself, with Andy Frisella - MFCEO87

00:00:00.000 I want to be a motherfucking hustler. You better ask somebody. 1.00

00:00:12.140 What's going on guys? You're listening to the MFCEO Project. I'm Andy. I'm your host and I am

00:00:18.340 the motherfucking CEO. Guys, if this is your first time listening, this is a podcast about 0.99

00:00:25.280 learning how to be the CEO of your life. There's going to be principles that we talk about that

00:00:31.200 have to do with entrepreneurship. There's going to be principles we talk about that have to do

00:00:35.160 with leadership. There's going to be principles we talk about that have to do with core values

00:00:39.080 and a million other things. All of the principles that we talk about here can be applied

00:00:44.520 to your life regardless if you're the CEO of a business, if you own a business, or if you're

00:00:51.160 just a regular dude trying to make it and make the most of the opportunities that come

00:00:55.580 and are presented to you. You have to realize that you are the CEO of yourself and so many

00:01:05.060 people float through their lives just sort of humdrum, kind of floating with the current,

00:01:11.780 hoping that good things happen to them without realizing that they are in control of the direction

00:01:17.200 they go. You have some fucking paddles out there that you can start moving if you want to move 0.99

00:01:21.460 inside that stream. And that's the purpose of this podcast is to bring awareness to the control that 0.99

00:01:27.800 you do have and to show you how to use that control to your advantage in your life, in your career,

00:01:34.120 or whatever goals you have for yourself. I'm here with my co-host Vaughn Kohler, otherwise known as

00:01:39.660 Vaughn the Impaler. What's up, my man? I'm getting pretty excited about all the photos and

00:01:44.120 or the pictures that are being submitted for Frazilla Week. Yeah, yeah. That's cool, man.

00:01:48.400 There's a lot of cool stuff going on with that. If you haven't listened to the podcast, we're going

00:01:52.280 to do, we do a Tuesday podcast, which is mainly practicality driven. It's going to be principles

00:01:58.440 that you can use to improve and put into play. And then we have Thursday Thunder every Thursday,

00:02:05.040 which is more motivation style podcast. And what we decided we were going to do is we're going to do a

00:02:11.740 week and we're going to call it Frazilla Week as in Godzilla, but Frazilla and fire where we just

00:02:18.200 bring the fire, bring the heat, uh, a full five to six days out of that week, uh, and just do

00:02:25.420 something different. And we ask people to enter the contest by drawing us a logo. And there's been

00:02:30.300 some cool, cool, uh, participants so far. So really appreciate you guys doing that. It's, it's kind

00:02:35.820 of cool. You know, when you see that somebody has invested so much time and, and, and their artistic

00:02:40.280 talent into, into the MFCEO project, I mean, it makes you feel good.

00:02:44.080 Well, the thing, the thing is, is it almost goes along with what I want to talk about today

00:02:48.000 anyway, because what they're doing is showing extreme. They're showing us extreme value that

00:02:54.900 is in reciprocation for the value that they received. If somebody didn't receive value from

00:03:00.480 this podcast, they're not going to sit down for two or three hours and draw out this cool drawing.

00:03:05.500 You know what I mean? Yeah. But what they did is in return, they took their time,

00:03:08.560 they took their effort, they took their talent and their energy and they put time into something

00:03:12.540 and that creates value, you know, for, for, for what I would perceive as value over maybe some,

00:03:21.480 somebody who just casually listens. It's cool, you know, because that's what we're going to talk

00:03:25.660 about today. We're going to talk about the importance of creating value in yourself. Um,

00:03:31.300 like I said in the intro, so many people float down the river of life without ever even putting

00:03:38.080 their paddles in the water, just hoping and praying and dreaming and wishing that they're

00:03:42.800 going to end up somewhere good guys. That's not how life works. You know, you have paddles in your

00:03:48.140 boat. You've just got to learn to use them. And first you've got to choose to use them. You've got

00:03:52.880 to choose to accept that there are paddles and then you've got to become disciplined enough to use

00:03:58.380 them on a regular basis. You know, too many people are just passive in the way that they live.

00:04:04.020 And so what I want to dig into today is how to create value in yourself, whether you are,

00:04:10.800 uh, somebody who owns a business and you're going to create value for your customers or your

00:04:15.780 employees, or whether you're a manager of people or whether you're, let's say the low man on the

00:04:20.800 totem pole, I call those people fry cooks. Okay. You're the guy entry level. How do you create

00:04:26.580 value so that you don't have to keep cooking the fucking fries? All right. That's what we want to dig 1.00

00:04:31.620 into today. And, and I want to get you guys to understand one concept up front, straight up from

00:04:39.540 the beginning. Okay. No matter where you're working or what you're doing or who you're working for,

00:04:45.860 you are working for yourself. You have to understand that concept first and foremost,

00:04:52.380 because the effort that you put in is going to create habits. The habits that you create,

00:04:58.140 even if you're the fry cook are going to dictate the progress that you have in life, because you're

00:05:04.620 not going to be able to just flip a switch one day and say, Oh, and now I'm a CEO, you know,

00:05:10.060 or now I'm a manager or now I'm a leader because you've been half asking it because you don't see 0.99

00:05:15.000 the value and cook a fucking French fries. All right. So you have to understand the effort that you put 0.99

00:05:20.120 in now, whether your job is cooking fries, whether it's sweeping floors, whether it's digging ditches, 0.97

00:05:25.280 it doesn't fucking matter. You've got to do certain things that are going to create the habits that

00:05:30.560 will stick with you over the course of your life. If you come into work on a daily basis and you half

00:05:36.780 ass shit, you're creating a habit of half assing shit. And that habit of half assing shit is what 1.00

00:05:42.200 creates up the majority of society and why they have such a hard time getting out of debt, living a 1.00

00:05:48.940 life stress-free when it comes to money or financially free. Okay. We're not talking about even getting

00:05:53.480 wealthy here. We're talking about just not being chained up so tight that you can't fucking do 0.98

00:05:58.520 anything. You know, so many people live that kind of life and it's irresponsible for a lot of reasons. 0.96

00:06:05.440 First of all, and I'll just hit on this right up front. You have a responsibility to your family

00:06:11.400 to become financially free to a point where if something bad happens, you could fucking handle it. 0.99

00:06:17.600 All right. You don't have to be driving a fucking Lamborghini. You don't have to drive a Rolls Royce. 1.00

00:06:22.500 You don't have to fly on private jets, but you have a fucking responsibility to earn enough money 0.99

00:06:27.020 to take care of people that depend on you. And a lot of people don't take that responsibility 0.98

00:06:31.580 seriously. Okay. So I just want to lay that out right up front. Always, always, always, always,

00:06:38.520 no matter what you're doing, no matter what position you're in, no matter who you work for,

00:06:43.240 what your job is, you are working for you. Okay. Which is why this podcast, I always say

00:06:49.760 you're the CEO of yourself. Does that make sense? Absolutely. You can always tell the guys that are

00:06:54.840 working just to be seen because like you said, they half-ass it when the boss isn't around. When

00:07:00.020 the boss is around, they put great effort. They put all this attention to detail, but they realize,

00:07:06.780 and then when the boss takes off and they don't work hard, I think that's when you realize that

00:07:10.980 they don't get it. They don't realize that all that effort really is benefiting them.

00:07:14.340 Well, first of all, as if the boss is dumb enough to not realize how much work gets done 0.93

00:07:19.160 when he's there versus when he's not there. Right. I mean, the reason the dude's in charge 0.98

00:07:22.980 is because he's at least somewhat intelligent and has worked his way into that position.

00:07:27.140 Right. And I think Vaughn's giving him too much credit. The people who do that,

00:07:30.800 they go through the motions at best whenever the boss is present. Right. It's an act.

00:07:36.560 It is. Right. And there's a big difference between acting and then putting all your heart into

00:07:41.340 something. Right. It's a totally different thing. Right. And, you know, people live like

00:07:46.660 that. That's how they go their whole lives. And that's why they can't pay their fucking 0.62

00:07:49.740 bills. That's why they drive a car they hate. They live in a house they hate. They live in 1.00

00:07:53.720 a neighborhood they hate. They bitch about how unfair life is and why the man fucks them and 1.00

00:07:59.500 how the rich got to pay their fucking share of taxes and all this other bullshit that you 1.00

00:08:02.960 see everywhere. You know, it's a loser mentality. So understand up front, especially you guys who 1.00

00:08:09.240 are younger, 17, 18, 19 years old. And even if you're older, if you're fucking 50 years old and 0.98

00:08:15.600 you're listening to this podcast, dude, you could build a crazy business in 10 years. You could build 0.99

00:08:21.480 a business that changes the history of your family and the next two or three, four generations 1.00

00:08:26.160 of your family in 10 fucking years. And it will be your legacy. No one will remember you for being 0.99

00:08:31.860 the average dude that you were your first 50 years. Everybody will remember you like they do

00:08:35.760 Colonel Sanders, who was a fucking billionaire, you know, in a basically elderly stage of his 0.99

00:08:41.220 life. Right. All right. So don't take this as, you know, Oh, I'm too old. Just restart these 1.00

00:08:46.180 habits. An old dog can't lose, learn new tricks. That's not true. But what I want to say is if

00:08:51.940 you're young, realize this now, because you're going to get ahead so much faster. All right.

00:08:57.220 You're always, always, always working for yourself. Make the, make the effort, make the, the, the habit,

00:09:05.880 create the discipline needed to do every single job that you can to the very, very best of your

00:09:12.280 ability. That is the most valuable skill that you could possibly create in personal development

00:09:17.720 that will stick with you forever. And you can see it in people. These are the people who,

00:09:22.240 you know, when they're sweeping the floor, they make sure every little speck is up off the floor.

00:09:27.340 When they're putting away boxes, they make sure that every box is perfectly packed away straight

00:09:33.520 and looks nice. You know, when they, when they send emails, they follow up with, with emails to make

00:09:40.820 sure that the point was understood or that things get done. They do things to the point of overdoing

00:09:46.820 them so that they're done perfectly. Okay. And that's a habit that you could create now,

00:09:51.720 whether you work at fucking McDonald's or whether you work at a fortune 500 company, 0.99

00:09:56.680 it doesn't matter. You can start that now. And that's, that's, that's the number one skill 0.99

00:10:01.620 of how to create value in yourself. I, uh, I mean that to me that that's ultimately a question of

00:10:10.900 what motivates you. Is that, does that make any sense? Sure. Um, it, so many people just,

00:10:20.000 I'm, I'm restating something you've already said, but so many people just don't get the fact when

00:10:25.880 they're busting their back and they're doing all these things that nobody's necessarily,

00:10:29.860 you know, thanking them for they're doing something for themselves. Exactly. Exactly. That's the point.

00:10:35.560 Like so many people wait around for a pat on the back or they want to fucking raise or they want some 0.97

00:10:40.580 sort of recognition. You know what? If you're not getting those things where you work, who fucking 0.96

00:10:45.380 cares, you're creating value in yourself to be able to either move up in that organization or go 0.94

00:10:54.440 somewhere else and create tremendous value. Because what's going to eventually happen is

00:10:57.800 someone's going to notice the work that you do. And if they don't, you're going to be able to go

00:11:02.380 somewhere else and somebody there is going to notice. Right. All right. But what they're not,

00:11:06.880 but what every single employer understands and looks at and sees every day is all you motherfuckers 1.00

00:11:13.560 who come to work. You fucking shake your head. Yes. And rah, rah, rah. And I want to kick ass. 1.00

00:11:18.940 And then you go sit in the corner and try to hide and do the least amount possible to not get fired. 1.00

00:11:24.420 Okay. Every fucking boss, every manager, every CEO knows your type. Okay. So you're not fucking 1.00

00:11:31.060 fooling anybody. Like the guy who talks shit and says, hold me back. Right. Exactly. Exactly. Dude. But, 1.00

00:11:36.380 but, but we all, everybody who's in charge, who's ever managed people, we know your type and there's a

00:11:41.560 lot of, a lot of you out there. In fact, most of you are fucking like that. All right. So if you 0.99

00:11:46.120 want to stand out, don't fucking be like that, be the guy who does the extra work, be the guy who does 0.99

00:11:51.820 the shit perfectly, be the guy who does it without complaining or needing recognition and be the guy 0.99

00:11:57.500 who shows and leads the other people who are hiding in the fucking corner, how to be a true fucking 1.00

00:12:04.720 asset to whatever team that you're on. There's value in that. There's value in just that point 0.99

00:12:09.740 that commands dollars, that commands income. Okay. Too many people pass up. There's so much

00:12:16.620 opportunity to grow and so many people pass up. They just can't even see the opportunity. They

00:12:21.920 wait for somebody to come tell them that there's some sort of opportunity there. And then they think

00:12:26.240 they're going to start working. Right. So I know you want to be really practical here. I know

00:12:29.920 in another podcast, I think it was called, are you an entrepreneur or not? You, you did say that

00:12:35.140 sometimes there are moments when you say to yourself, you know what, odd people are born 1.00

00:12:41.020 entrepreneurs. I mean, they can develop that, they can cultivate it. But a lot of times people

00:12:46.780 just like you say, you're just born with this desire to create your, you're born with this desire

00:12:51.020 to, to, to build things. I guess my question is, you know, if we're honest, this whole self

00:12:57.860 direction and this self motivation, how many people out there do you think are born with it?

00:13:02.980 And, or how many people can, can truly train themselves to, to say, okay, I am going to

00:13:09.540 remind myself, I work for myself. You know what I'm saying? Like how much of it is in your DNA and

00:13:13.640 how much can you cultivate and how do you cultivate it? You know, I struggle with this question a lot

00:13:19.340 because I am naturally driven and I run at a high fucking frequency all times, you know? Um, 0.95

00:13:27.400 it's hard for me to relate to anything else. And it's hard for me to understand the mentality of

00:13:33.920 not being like that. Um, I think anybody who has that mentality, I know for sure anybody who's had

00:13:40.640 that mentality that I've personally met has the same issues with under, not understanding how people

00:13:46.800 cannot be like that. And it's really funny with you because be honest, I mean, you are the laziest 0.97

00:13:54.440 person, you know, but you are the most driven at the same time. So if you can self-motivate

00:13:59.320 yourself, I mean, sounds cliche, but anybody can explain what you mean by that. Well, you've

00:14:04.320 always, you've always referred to yourself as extremely lazy in your head, right? Yeah.

00:14:08.480 But, but, but that's, you feel those thoughts coming on. Yeah. Yeah. But, but that's your

00:14:16.620 natural inclination. Huh? That's your natural inclination you've said before. Yes. But that's

00:14:21.340 the, the thing is, is I've learned how to trigger those fucking thoughts into action, which makes 0.99

00:14:25.380 you not lazy. Right. You know what I mean? Right. So I don't know, man. Like I feel like most 0.99

00:14:30.760 people, I feel like most people are just fucking clueless to be completely honest. I feel like they, 0.98

00:14:38.160 they, they, they live in the expectation box that was built by society for them. And if

00:14:45.860 they somehow master the inside of that box and live at a level of what's called a quote

00:14:54.040 unquote productive human inside that box that they feel successful, you know what I mean?

00:14:59.660 And so most people grow, grow up in that system, you know, like their mom and dad together make

00:15:06.020 $80,000 a year, you know, and that's what they, so when they make 70,000 a year, they feel

00:15:13.020 wealthy. Right. Right. Even though they're still struggling with their bills, they can't do the

00:15:16.740 shit that they want. And they feel like that's the limitation that they're quote unquote meant 0.98

00:15:22.260 to be because that's what they grew up seeing, you know? So I feel like the expectations are set

00:15:27.840 by what they observe through growing up. And that's really all they ever expected themselves.

00:15:34.840 So, you know, when you get in a comfortable state and you don't expect more from yourself,

00:15:39.280 you're never going to achieve more. So I feel like people, you know, they're, they would like

00:15:45.320 more. Like I would like, I w they like the idea of success, but they don't like what's comes

00:15:51.900 with it in terms of like, they know it's not guaranteed. So therefore exactly. So they take

00:15:56.360 the quote unquote safe route, which isn't really the safe route because they could be fired at any

00:16:00.760 time. They could fucking, you know, get hit by a car and be in a hospital for a week and their 0.99

00:16:05.920 hospital bills be 70 fucking grand as much as they make in a year. You know, they don't think about 1.00

00:16:10.520 these things. Like the one thing I like about Grant Cardone is he, you know, his 10 X thing,

00:16:15.180 like, dude, you need 10 times more money than you fucking think you need. And you need to work 10 0.86

00:16:21.880 times harder than you fucking think you need to work, you know? And I, I believe that I believe 0.99

00:16:26.960 that and taught that before I ever read it in his book. I just think that's the truth. You know,

00:16:32.560 I know a lady right now who, uh, just got sick and they diagnosed her with leukemia, like end stage

00:16:43.240 leukemia. She has three fucking kids. Okay. They're married. All right. She's, she's, you know, 1.00

00:16:49.020 who knows what's going to happen, but there's a likelihood that she won't make it.

00:16:51.880 They don't have any savings. They don't have any fucking money put away. Okay. And why, 0.98

00:16:58.620 why is that? Why is that even something that should be, I mean, it's, it's not, that shouldn't

00:17:06.800 even happen. You know, that happens from thinking that you're, you're making it and thinking that

00:17:11.720 you're on the right path, you know, and you just never know what's going to happen and people don't

00:17:18.020 plan and they don't take responsibility for their own lives or what they actually need to earn

00:17:22.360 month, you know, financially to really be okay. And people resist this thought, right? Cause like

00:17:28.460 I'll post pictures of my cars and I'll talk about making money and they'll come back with shit like, 0.99

00:17:33.600 well, Andy, not everybody wants to drive a fucking Lamborghini. It's not important. 0.99

00:17:36.760 And you know, blah, blah, blah. Well, I'm going to tell you right now, make it 60, 70 grand a year

00:17:40.620 as your fucking, as your end game. You're, you're, you're, you're, you're irresponsibly living your 1.00

00:17:48.320 life by thinking that's acceptable. If you have a family, dude, not to mention, like I found out 10

00:17:53.240 years ago that I'm going to need to make a fuck ton of money. Cause my parents, I don't want them 0.98

00:17:57.780 work until they're dead. Cause that's what will happen. They don't have even just that dude. Most people 0.99

00:18:02.260 don't give a fuck about their parents. They don't think like that. No, you know what I mean? But 0.99

00:18:05.960 I'm saying at a bare minimum level thinking, dude, you're responsible for the kids that you have and

00:18:11.680 the people in your life. And people just don't take that responsibility serious. They, they think

00:18:17.280 that 60, $70,000 a year or $80,000 a year is going to get it done for them. And you ask anybody who's

00:18:23.880 making that kind of money, they're still struggling. Right. You know, it's a myth. Society fucking

00:18:28.020 jams down people's throat. Right. I mentioned people forget about inflation and 1.00

00:18:32.200 there's so many things we can go on about this. Like nowadays isn't even what it was

00:18:37.380 dude. Yeah. I can go on and on about money. Money is a good fucking thing. Okay. And people

00:18:46.100 try to villainize it because they're not making any, but if they were making any, they would

00:18:49.940 say the same thing I'm saying. Right. Yeah. Do you agree or disagree with that? Oh, I agree.

00:18:55.280 Yeah. It's, it's, it's, you stand in the middle of a crowd room with 500 bucks and raise

00:18:59.960 it up and say, who wants an extra 500 bucks? Right. Every motherfucker in that room is 1.00

00:19:03.900 going to raise their hand. Right. But if you ask them what I just asked them, they're 1.00

00:19:07.300 going to begrudge you the money. I don't, I don't know, you know, there's something wrong

00:19:11.460 with money. Right. Like dude, whatever. Yeah. You know, the point of this, of this episode

00:19:16.520 is how to create more fucking money for yourself, especially in situations when you're working 0.98

00:19:24.000 with in an organization. Okay. We talked a little bit about understanding the principle 0.99

00:19:30.480 and accepting the principle that you work for yourself. Now we can talk about a couple

00:19:35.340 of the core values that you would need to adopt internally to create value for yourself.

00:19:42.200 Okay. We talked about how your actions that you have are going to create the habits that

00:19:47.240 you have in your future. No matter if you work for this guy and you hate your boss and you

00:19:52.520 hate your job and you hate cooking French fries, you have to understand those habits

00:19:57.040 are valuable. Okay. So you're creating value in yourself, even if they don't fucking recognize

00:20:02.080 it. All right. Most companies will recognize it. Contrary to what most people cry about on 0.97

00:20:07.060 Facebook and say, Oh, you know, they don't appreciate my efforts and blah, blah, blah. You

00:20:11.100 know why you're not appreciated? Cause you're not fucking doing anything great. You're doing 0.98

00:20:14.320 what the fuck you're paid for. And you think that you deserve a pat on the back for what 1.00

00:20:19.920 I fucking pay you to do, which you don't write to get a pat on the fucking back or to get 1.00

00:20:24.520 a raise. Guess what? You've got to go beyond that. And that's called going the extra mile, 1.00

00:20:30.100 which actually is a great core value that I'm going to talk about when creating value

00:20:34.180 inside your own self. Okay. Take whatever it is that you get paid to do and do a little

00:20:42.140 bit extra. All right. You don't have to do this. This is, this is, I know this is a hard

00:20:46.160 concept for you guys who are out there thinking like this, but they don't fucking pay me to 0.97

00:20:50.200 do that. You're going to have to do a little bit more that you don't actually get paid for

00:20:54.660 now so that you can get paid later. It's called an investment. All right. What you do that

00:21:01.920 you're expected to do earns your paycheck. When you do more, that's an investment in your

00:21:07.480 future. And if you think that the real world works any other way, you're fucking delusional. 0.99

00:21:13.760 This is how it works. And you'll have all the fucking liberal idiots on the fucking internet 1.00

00:21:18.900 and on TV say, Oh, you know, you're not fucking paying them the $5 extra per hour time. Look, 1.00

00:21:24.920 man, I'm just telling you the way it is. You could pick, you could fucking, you could, I'm 0.99

00:21:30.100 not saying you need to put in extra hours. It could go in the extra mile can be things 0.99

00:21:34.940 like how details you are. You know, maybe they say, Hey, stock the shelves. And instead of just

00:21:40.540 stocking the shelves, you stock the shelves so fucking good that every time your manager 0.95

00:21:45.560 comes by, they say, man, you know what? I know Andy stocked those shelves because they 0.97

00:21:48.580 look so fucking good. Okay. We're talking about things like taking a customer who is, 0.97

00:21:53.580 who is happy and making them ecstatic by doing something a little bit extra. Okay. There's

00:22:00.180 millions and millions of opportunities for this, but the key to executing this on a, on a mass

00:22:06.560 scale over the course of your life and creating a habit out of it is to always be looking for

00:22:11.640 an opportunity to do a little bit more. And so many people, well, how do they look at

00:22:17.120 it? They look at it is where's my opportunity cut a corner. Okay. So not only are you standing

00:22:24.020 out above the guy who does his job, you're actually getting two steps ahead of most people

00:22:28.120 because most people are trying to figure out how to make it appear that their job is done

00:22:32.600 when it really isn't done. And you're not, you're not thinking of it that way. You're

00:22:36.960 thinking about how to do the job perfectly and a little bit more. How much value does

00:22:40.800 that create over the average motherfucker? 0.99

00:22:43.600 Tremendous amount of value. And in listening to you over the course of the last year, one 0.99

00:22:47.120 of the things that I think makes a difference between people that do the extra, that take

00:22:52.240 the initiative is that ultimately they think it's going to be worth it. And I, it was, you

00:22:58.460 know, you've said it a lot of times, uh, success is not magic. It's, it's, you know, do this,

00:23:04.100 do this, do this, and you will be successful. Do the work and you will be successful. And

00:23:07.700 I think that the people that don't do the little extra people believe that they're going

00:23:12.280 to do it and, and they're still going to get screwed. But the people that do the extra

00:23:17.640 say, no, no, no, I'm doing the extra. Cause not only is it, is it developing character

00:23:21.940 qualities in me, it's, it's making, it's creating value.

00:23:24.520 So let me just, let me, I get exactly what you're saying. Let me, let me finish that

00:23:29.340 thought for you.

00:23:30.100 Sure.

00:23:30.380 All right. So you're a hundred percent right. People that don't do the extra, they know

00:23:34.620 that doing the extra is how to get ahead, but they don't believe that there's a, they

00:23:38.040 don't believe that there's an end game for them here in the position they're in now.

00:23:42.680 And they gladly say, well, if I had, if I had an opportunity to move forward, I would 0.99

00:23:49.040 do all this extra shit. No, you wouldn't because you're justifying why not to do it now. 0.99

00:23:53.780 Right. Successful people don't do that. They fucking do everything they can regardless.

00:24:01.440 And this is what it takes to be successful guys. They do everything they can regardless 0.98

00:24:06.080 of if they see an opportunity or not, because they understand that they will be valuable to

00:24:14.040 someone. Okay. And what you said is true. I think a lot of people who do the extra shit

00:24:20.780 either really believe in the big picture vision of the, of what they're in or two, they 0.99

00:24:26.620 understand that they're creating development on their own. And I think it's easy to get

00:24:30.980 people to perform when they see their big picture vision of where they're going to go

00:24:35.020 in life. You know, if they see a job, that's going to be, you know, whatever their number

00:24:39.700 is, you know, a hundred thousand dollars is most people think is a lot of money.

00:24:44.940 They, they, they say, Oh, I want to earn a hundred thousand dollars. And there's the

00:24:49.080 job that pays a hundred thousand dollars that exists right now. And Steve has that job.

00:24:54.200 So I want Steve's job. So I'm going to fucking do everything I can to get Steve's job. People 0.88

00:24:59.820 will fucking work in that situation where they won't fucking work is in a growing company 0.99

00:25:05.880 that doesn't, that Steve's job doesn't exist yet. They will say the, you know, Hey, we need 0.99

00:25:11.700 a guy to eventually step into this role. That's going to pay something like this. They'll, they'll

00:25:16.300 talk themselves out of it and they'll say something like, Oh, well, you know, they're

00:25:19.140 just blah, blah, blah. That's just bullshit. And you know, whatever. Once that job comes 1.00

00:25:23.640 or then I'll work for it. You know what, motherfucker, you ain't never going to get that 1.00

00:25:26.480 job. Right. You know what I mean? Yeah, absolutely. Bring that up a growing company because 1.00

00:25:31.120 people don't realize the opportunity that's ahead of them. So they just do the bare minimum.

00:25:34.860 Meanwhile, somebody else is doing work that they don't see. Right. But the boss sees

00:25:39.480 it. That's right. Fucking comes in and takes that job right from underneath. Exactly. And

00:25:42.900 then they think, Oh, I got screwed. No, you didn't get fucking screwed. You screwed yourself. 1.00

00:25:46.800 Right. It's an overused cliche, but the unsuccessful person is a person who's literally got one move 0.96

00:25:52.300 in checkers and he's just looking at the next move. Whereas the successful person is the person

00:25:56.760 who's playing chess, looking ahead three or four. It's one of my favorite sayings. I've been

00:25:59.580 saying that for 20 years. Look here. So do extra shit, do everything you can. Okay. The next thing

00:26:10.180 that, that I think is an important core value. You mentioned it real briefly, but you said the words

00:26:16.040 take initiative. Okay. Be the guy who fucking sees shit that needs to be done and does it regardless if

00:26:23.960 it's in your job description. All right. Now we're talking about separating yourself from the pack 1.00

00:26:28.480 again. Most guys do that. What do they do? They see something that needs to be done and they say

00:26:33.680 what? Well, that's not my job. Right. That's not what I'm, that's not what I'm paid to do. And they

00:26:38.320 fucking let it continue to be a problem. Okay. The, the guy who wins, the guy who moves up, the guy you 1.00

00:26:44.700 hear these stories about on, you know, the internet who went from being the guy who worked the loading 1.00

00:26:49.340 doc to being the CEO of the company, those motherfuckers take initiative. They see a 0.99

00:26:54.500 problem and they fucking solve it. Okay. Which also goes into one of the other ones I want to talk 1.00

00:27:00.300 about, which is accepting responsibility. All right. So they see an issue, they take responsibility,

00:27:05.660 they take an issue to fix it and they fix it. There's tremendous value in that. You're three or

00:27:11.240 four steps ahead of the average person's thinking the average person standing there with his hand on a 1.00

00:27:15.700 hip, his hips with his fucking Mountain Dew and his fucking bag of Cheetos on break while you're 1.00

00:27:21.800 busting your balls to make sure the company moves forward the right way. People in charge understand 1.00

00:27:27.420 that whether you think they do or not, you know, the biggest mistake you can make is to think that 0.99

00:27:31.860 your manager or their manager or the manager of that manager doesn't know what the fuck they're 0.99

00:27:36.680 doing. I hear, when I hear that shit, like I hear people tell me, Oh dude, I left my job because 1.00

00:27:41.700 my manager and I just didn't see eye to eye. You mean you're a fucking problem is what you're 1.00

00:27:46.660 really saying. You mean you couldn't figure out how to fucking work hard enough or do the things 1.00

00:27:52.800 that needed to be done to increase your value to the point where he recognized it and you moved up 0.98

00:27:58.960 or move past him. You're not a problem solver, which brings me to my next point.

00:28:04.700 Can I throw out an asterisk hole scenario? Sure. Because I do think every now and then

00:28:10.040 people are going to encounter this. So you said before that obviously really wealthy people at

00:28:17.360 the top level, they don't get there by accident. They have certain skills. If they're self-made,

00:28:21.580 yeah. Right. But it is also true that the reason that a good manager is paid so well is that there's

00:28:26.860 so many crappy managers. So imagine a scenario in which you have somebody doing exactly what you're

00:28:32.760 saying. You have someone taking initiative, dreaming big, trying to figure out how they can

00:28:37.420 add value. And you just have a middle management idiot who literally says to them, you're not paid 1.00

00:28:43.820 to do that. You have delusions of grandeur. Because I have met some people like that where there's a 1.00

00:28:49.620 middle management who's subpar. One of two things is going to happen.

00:28:52.440 So what do you do in that situation? One of two things is going to happen. Either one,

00:28:56.060 first of all, if you stop doing the things that you're doing because some idiot tells you, 1.00

00:29:01.980 oh, what are you doing? Blah, blah. You're in the wrong company with the wrong culture. 1.00

00:29:05.900 Okay. And you'd be wise to find a culture that encourages the right things so that you could

00:29:12.000 move forward with your career. There's no future in a company like that. Company like that will

00:29:17.040 always fail eventually. Okay. So one of two things will happen. One, that manager's boss will recognize

00:29:24.080 what you're doing and ask him why, why haven't you brought this guy to my attention? Why have you told,

00:29:28.400 and that manager will, will, you know, make some kind of floundering statement as to why.

00:29:34.380 And usually it's because the manager thinks that that person is going to take their job.

00:29:39.200 And I have seen this before. I've actually had it in my own company before where a manager will

00:29:45.000 purposely downplay how good somebody is because they don't want that person to move forward. 0.62

00:29:50.260 And dude, what happens is, is what you need to do at that point is you need to fucking do everything 0.96

00:29:56.640 perfectly, do better than your manager, exceed the expectations to a point where it's so fucking 0.87

00:30:01.880 obvious and do it not for a week, not for a month, but for at least a year. And then you go to the

00:30:07.820 superior to say, look, dude, I'm doing this, this, this, this, this is, I'm getting told this from my

00:30:13.280 manager. He's telling me not to do this shit. He's telling me this, he's telling me that. 1.00

00:30:17.420 And you take it up with that guy's boss, because I guarantee you that middle managers learn how to

00:30:23.100 manipulate and use the right language in the system that gets him to keep his job. You see what I

00:30:28.280 mean? Yeah, absolutely. So I mean, that takes credit. He'll take credit. Yeah, it does take

00:30:33.020 balls, but you don't get anywhere without any fucking balls. Right. You know what I mean? Right. So 1.00

00:30:37.100 and even if you, even if it goes sour and you end up getting fired, you're still in a better 0.96

00:30:42.640 position because you've created the habits of just busting ass that whole entire year. 0.96

00:30:48.380 Right. You see what I mean? Right. So, um, my next point was going to be, you know, adopt a problem 0.99

00:30:55.880 solver mentality for everything. This is another way to stand out above 99% of the people that you're

00:31:02.840 around. Think about the people that you work with now and what they say when there's a problem and how

00:31:09.780 they handle it. Okay. Rarely do people see a problem and have a solution for that problem.

00:31:18.200 What do they do? They say, Oh, you know, our fucking shipping, it's not getting out on time. 0.97

00:31:23.880 It's not getting out on time. Shipping is just not getting out on time. Hey, Andy, you know what? 0.98

00:31:29.340 Shipping, it's just not getting out on time. No shit, motherfucker. Well, since you clearly know 1.00

00:31:35.900 that shipping is not getting out on time and you're reporting it back to me, why the fuck aren't you 0.98

00:31:41.340 out there fixing it? You get what I'm saying? So don't be somebody who reports problems. Be someone 0.98

00:31:48.120 who fucking identifies problems and fixes problems without having to be told to do so. Okay. That's 0.99

00:31:56.080 taking initiative. I have never disciplined or fired somebody in my company for doing something

00:32:02.700 by taking initiative that they thought was right and helping the company

00:32:07.080 that went wrong. Cause that does happen, right? You're trying to do something right. You're making,

00:32:13.420 you're making a good, a good conscious, good hearted effort to, um, do the right thing and to help the

00:32:21.880 company, but it ends up being the wrong decision. Okay. A smart, a smart leader will see that as an

00:32:28.120 investment in that person's education. You know, a smart leader will not fire that person for a

00:32:34.520 mistake like that because now what you're going to do is you're going to hire somebody new. You're

00:32:39.180 going to have to train them. They're going to end up making the same mistake, right? And then you start

00:32:44.100 over and it becomes a vicious cycle. So if you have somebody, if you're a manager, pay attention to this.

00:32:48.840 If you have somebody who's made a mistake and they did it from a place of, of, you know, well,

00:32:54.740 well intended, well intentions, um, for the company and it costs you a little bit of money.

00:33:01.620 Well, that's the same thing as sending them to a class that costs you a little bit of money to

00:33:05.980 teach them how to do it the right way. Just fucking did a little bit different. You know, 0.98

00:33:08.820 it's an investment in their learning. So if you're in the right company and you take initiative and

00:33:13.460 you screw up a little bit, they're going to live, they're going to, they're going to say, Oh, okay,

00:33:17.140 well, right. You know, we just don't do that again. Yeah. Right. Yeah. So

00:33:21.420 regardless of that, cause I think that's why most people don't make the moves that we're talking

00:33:29.440 about. There's so much value in being the guy that fucking solves problems in an organization 0.85

00:33:35.620 that little mistakes like that, you'll, you'll get a pass for a promise. Okay. Because the people 0.97

00:33:43.240 who solve problems are super fucking rare. And guess what? People who solve problems make a lot 0.72

00:33:47.860 of fucking money. And let me go along, let me go along the same line and talk about people who tell 0.99

00:33:53.360 the fucking truth. Okay. Don't be the motherfucker in your company who tells your boss what you think 0.99

00:34:00.880 he wants to hear. You know, who says, Oh yeah, uh, you're fucking great. Oh, I love everything. 1.00

00:34:07.120 Everything's perfect. It's all great. There's no value in that. The value is in the guy.

00:34:13.240 Who says, Hey, I think we're doing this wrong. And this is why, or Hey, we could be better here

00:34:19.360 or Hey, this isn't working. And I don't like that. I don't think it's a good idea. And I'm not saying

00:34:24.720 to the point of you think you're manipulating this person because you're, you're disagreeing 1.00

00:34:30.800 with them so much because those motherfuckers get fired. All right. I'm talking about the guy who 1.00

00:34:35.860 tells the truth when he really believes the idea is good. He says, that's a great idea. When you

00:34:40.820 really believes the idea is not good. I don't know about that. Okay. And this is why I feel

00:34:45.360 that way. And having some tact in how you approach that goes a long way. All right. But so don't

00:34:50.600 call out your boss in the middle of a company meeting. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. But if you're

00:34:56.700 asked for feedback, offer honest feedback, don't just, don't just be a fucking cog in the machine 0.98

00:35:02.160 who just says, yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. You know, there's no value in that. And that 0.98

00:35:06.280 comes back to balls. Right. Has some fucking balls. Right. Realize that boss never asked 0.99

00:35:10.520 for your advice again. Yeah, he will never ask. Like, dude, there's only certain people

00:35:14.220 I ask for advice because I know they're going to fucking tell me the truth. You know, everybody 0.93

00:35:18.320 else is a pussy. Don't be a pussy. Tell the truth because there's extreme value in that. 1.00

00:35:24.120 And it goes right along with solving problems. If I'm the CEO or I'm a manager or I'm at a level

00:35:30.040 where I'm trying to make a decision and I'm asking for feedback, I'm asking that for that

00:35:34.320 feedback, honestly, so I can make the right decision. If you give me the wrong fucking 0.98

00:35:37.900 feedback, how can I make the right decision? It's like being in a fucking war and your frontline 1.00

00:35:42.600 troops, you know, you say, all right, well, how, how many, how many motherfuckers up there 1.00

00:35:46.220 that we got to, we got to kill? And they say, oh, you know, not that many, but you come 1.00

00:35:51.220 to find out it's like a million and you've only got 10,000 guys because they didn't want

00:35:55.320 to get you upset. You know, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. You would much rather have

00:36:00.980 the guy say, uh, dude, there's a million of them and there's 10,000 of us and we're going 1.00

00:36:05.960 to get your fucking asses beat if we go out this way. So let's come up with a different 0.99

00:36:08.680 strategy. Okay. And then you ask the guy next to him, is that true? Yeah, it's true.

00:36:12.800 Yeah. All right. All right. Now at least we know we're not going to go kill for nothing.

00:36:16.660 Right. We're going to come up with a better plan. That's the point. Right. You know what

00:36:20.140 I mean? Right. Uh, are you familiar with the name Lee Iacocca? Yeah. Okay. Well, a lot

00:36:24.640 of people, a lot of the young bucks in our, uh, listening. Yeah, he's old school. I think,

00:36:28.720 I think he turned around Chrysler or one of those auto industries. But anyway, when

00:36:32.980 you were talking about, you know, telling the truth, but also, you know, having some

00:36:36.460 tact, he had a say, a saying that I read in his book one time, he said, there's a difference

00:36:40.220 between telling it straight and telling it sharp. You know, you don't have to be sharp

00:36:44.520 with somebody. You can be, you can tell it straight without being like, you're an idiot 1.00

00:36:47.620 boss. Oh dude, you're going to, you're going to find yourself fired. Yeah. You're going 1.00

00:36:51.080 to find yourself fired. That's what I'm saying. Having tact about it and you don't have to

00:36:54.580 be soft. You don't have to be soft and you don't have to soften it. Right. You just

00:36:58.500 tell it the way it is. Right. Hey, I don't know about that because one, two, three, four,

00:37:04.500 you make some valid points. You know what I mean? And don't be the fucking idiot who

00:37:08.360 just, like I said, disagrees. I was talking to Gary Vaynerchuk about this. Um, we were 1.00

00:37:13.900 talking, we had a conversation about this one time and we were talking about how many people 0.97

00:37:18.760 will just agree with you because they, they want to fucking get on your good side. And we 0.94

00:37:23.500 were both like, yeah, it's fucking annoying, but you know, what's more annoying is the guy 0.94

00:37:27.040 who disagrees with you because he thinks he's creating so much value by challenging you on 0.90

00:37:30.540 everything. Right. Like, dude, get the fuck out of here. Right. Like you're the guy that

00:37:34.660 we, that we kick in the balls and go, you go find your spot. Right. You know what I mean? 0.99

00:37:39.120 Yeah. So there's a fine line to walk there and it goes along with telling the fucking truth. 0.99

00:37:43.400 Right. Sometimes you're going to love the ideas. You're going to love the way it's done. 0.98

00:37:47.540 You're going to think it's great. Sometimes it doesn't fucking work. You know what I mean? 0.98

00:37:51.580 But like, dude, this gets into that manipulation mindset that we talk about. Sometimes people

00:37:56.020 try to like manipulate their way to value by disagreeing, thinking that they're creating 0.97

00:38:01.140 extra value on shit that they don't really disagree with. And you motherfuckers end up 1.00

00:38:06.160 broke with no job and no good references because you're fucking annoying. Right. Right. Right. 1.00

00:38:11.580 So absolutely being aware and telling the truth. So, um, you know, those are some practical,

00:38:22.000 practical, you know, core value type action things that you can do in your situation.

00:38:29.600 Hey, humor me just for a second. What do you think? Cause I know that there's a difference,

00:38:33.140 but could you isolate T for our listening audience, the difference between initiative and

00:38:41.140 problem solving? Cause they're, they're awfully similar.

00:38:44.000 Initiative can be a lot of different things, man. It can be doing what needs to be done.

00:38:49.680 It can be taking initiative to, um, come up with a new idea or come up with a new way of thinking

00:38:56.060 or a new way of marketing or a new way of doing something, a new process. I mean, it can be so

00:39:00.320 many different things other than just solving a problem, but solving an immediate problem does take

00:39:06.620 initiative. So, I mean, they're related, but they're also could be unrelated.

00:39:09.960 So solving a problem maybe is, is, is initiative could also be specific to a case maybe.

00:39:15.040 Well, yeah. Yeah. I mean, yeah, there's a fucking clear problem. Right. I'm going to take the

00:39:19.580 initiative to solve it. Right. You know, I'm going to set responsibility for it. I'm going to take the

00:39:23.580 initiative to fix it. There's value in that. Okay. But initiative could also be other things like

00:39:29.740 I'm going to come up with a plan on how to improve sales over this, this many, this much time or,

00:39:35.000 uh, this new system for that, that might not actually quote, quote unquote, be a problem,

00:39:40.460 but it, but it's a, but it will be a problem. You see what I'm saying?

00:39:44.340 It's got to build on that too. Uh, a lot of people, it's funny. Uh, a lot of people are scared to

00:39:49.880 bring ideas. Wouldn't you say so? Yeah.

00:39:52.820 What? Nothing. I'm just saying that's, that's, well, that's why a lot of, that's why a lot of

00:39:59.100 people don't make any fucking money. Right. Right. I'm just saying that's a, that's a, 0.98

00:40:02.220 there's, there's tremendous value in that. Even if your ideas are fucking stupid, you come in, 1.00

00:40:07.100 you come in and, and, and, and be okay with that. Like be okay with having dumb ideas. Like, 1.00

00:40:12.160 dude, there's a ton of times where in this, in this building where I'll say, you know,

00:40:15.560 I got an idea to do this, blah, blah, blah. And I'll come back five minutes to everybody. No,

00:40:18.500 that's fucking stupid. You know, dude, it's okay to have bad ideas, but fuck contribute. 1.00

00:40:23.980 You know what I mean? Don't just show up to work and fucking type on your keyboard or work in the 1.00

00:40:29.740 warehouse or wherever it is you do and go home and expect that you're one day going to be wealthy 1.00

00:40:34.360 because it's going to fucking happen. You know? And if you're afraid to contribute, if you're afraid 0.98

00:40:38.480 to take initiative, cause you're going to get in trouble. If you're afraid to bring an idea,

00:40:41.880 you better get real fucking comfortable making no fucking money because you're average and there's a 1.00

00:40:46.820 million motherfuckers just like you to do the same fucking thing. Work or be shit. 1.00

00:40:51.980 Yeah. See what I'm saying? Yeah. I think that is the case where, you know, if you're afraid of 1.00

00:40:55.420 getting laughed at or if you're afraid of having a stupid idea, that's where your ego is getting, 0.98

00:40:59.260 I think the phrase you've, you've used before, don't let your ego keep you from success or 0.99

00:41:04.080 don't let your ego keep you. Cause people don't want to be seen doing something that they don't

00:41:08.800 want. They don't want to come up with a bad idea cause they don't want to get laughed at. They

00:41:11.400 don't want to be seen doing something that they're bad at. You know, their own ego

00:41:16.160 and those are the same motherfuckers that look at somebody like me and be like, dude, 1.00

00:41:19.180 your fucking ego is huge. It's like, all right, dude. Well, right. It's not that big. Cause 1.00

00:41:23.380 I'm more than willing to do a bunch of shit that I'll fuck up. Right. Cause I know eventually 1.00

00:41:27.720 I'll figure it out and make some fucking money. Right. Right. So, you know, who's got the big 0.99

00:41:33.000 fucking ego, the guy who's willing to fail or the guy who's, who's too proud to fucking be seen 0.99

00:41:38.240 doing something that he isn't good at. Right. Right. I just, just read some article the other day 1.00

00:41:44.180 that said, people always assume that shy people are, must be like really nice people, but shy

00:41:49.140 people can be really egotistical because they're worried that if they put themselves out there,

00:41:52.800 they're going to get laughed at. And that kind of goes to what you're saying.

00:41:56.520 It's, it's below the surface analysis that we're talking about here, which most people

00:42:01.680 have, uh, do not possess the capacity to understand or do right. Like most people just look at somebody

00:42:10.040 and they say, cause he drives a nice car. Oh, you got a big ego. Yeah. Like they're, it's like so

00:42:13.380 fucking stupid. Like, you know, and then he's got a big truck. So you must have a little dick. 1.00

00:42:18.120 Yeah. It's so fucking stupid that like, you can't even like, I, I dude, this is why I can't even 1.00

00:42:26.740 relate to most people anymore. You know what I mean? Cause like the thinking is so surface level 1.00

00:42:32.340 thinking that, and it's just like, dude, are you fucking serious right now? Like this is all your 0.87

00:42:40.480 brain can fucking comprehend. Right. Right. Right. So whatever people listen to this podcast 1.00

00:42:46.320 aren't like that, but it's the majority of society can't think beyond what they're, they're basically 0.99

00:42:52.540 little robots that repeat shit that they hear somewhere. They, they forward memes. Yeah. They 0.98

00:42:57.740 post or they forward memes. Right. And they're like, Oh, they forward emails and they post memes.

00:43:01.940 Yeah. Oh, that guy's lives in a big house. He must step on everybody. Yeah. And like all the same

00:43:06.700 dumb shit, you know? And then they wonder why they're fucking broke. Right. What? You got something 1.00

00:43:12.080 to say? Well, I was going to build on something you asked me last week about like, dude, how,

00:43:16.060 how awesome do you feel when you go to the gym, you work out, even though you didn't want to,

00:43:19.820 like how awesome do you feel after you work out? Well, it's the same thing when you want to do

00:43:22.820 that extra work. Like I'm not patting my own back, but do I know now because I've done it enough

00:43:28.360 that you've been hustling, dude, dude, when I go home after the gym and I want to knock out something

00:43:32.540 for you or for work, like I know how good that's going to feel the next day when I got it off my

00:43:37.860 plate and I can move forward. But see, here's the thing. So, and I'll just bring this up because

00:43:43.120 it's, it's, it's in don't, I'm not talking to you about this right now, but I'm just bringing this 0.86

00:43:48.920 up because it's fucking relevant. Sal and I have both agreed that Tyler is worth more than he's

00:43:55.260 currently getting paid. We're trying to figure out what is fair and what, you know, he deserves.

00:44:00.300 But a year ago he wasn't worth what he was getting paid. And I can look back and say that. Right.

00:44:05.180 He wasn't. And we had, he was not worth what he was getting paid. Now he's exceeded that without us

00:44:10.860 having to be like, do this, do this, do this, do this. Something clicked inside of him that made him

00:44:16.540 go out and take the initiative to do things and do extra things. And now there's conversation that

00:44:23.640 he hasn't been aware of until just now on the backside saying, look, dude, we got to take care

00:44:28.280 of this guy. He's doing these, these, this, this, he's making a huge effort, blah, blah, blah. You

00:44:33.380 know, that's how, that's how it fucking works. Yeah. And yeah, we have not talked about this, 0.99

00:44:37.540 but I would say just thinking on it, it would be a confidence thing. It would be, you know,

00:44:43.400 I got confident in my work. I got confident in what I was doing. And then also, you know,

00:44:48.920 I started seeing a lot bigger goal in my head. Right. For yourself. Yes. Right. And you next

00:44:55.080 rule. Yeah, exactly. Like, dude, but that's how people get raises. Yeah. You don't get a raise

00:45:00.180 because you're not just a raise. That's how you become a fucking linchpin. If you've read Seth 1.00

00:45:05.540 Godin's book, linchpin, that's how you become an in dude. Your best thing that you could do is make

00:45:11.020 yourself a indisposable asset to the company to where like they, like if you left, they'd be 0.99

00:45:16.240 fucked. Okay. Cause then you have leverage on the company. All right. And I'm not saying you do 1.00

00:45:21.840 motherfucker. No, but I'm saying that should be something that pisses you off. I'm looking for 1.00

00:45:25.520 some new graphics video. But if, I mean, if you're part of a growing company, that should be something

00:45:31.860 that pisses you off. If you know that you're not a linchpin. Yeah. Right. Because you have a huge

00:45:36.740 opportunity to be. Actually light a fire in you. Right. Especially when you're, especially when

00:45:40.620 you're working in a company that is growing and trying to like become something big. Yeah. You

00:45:46.560 know, you know, better than anybody, how frustrating it is to have multiple growing companies and then

00:45:51.580 to see people just go through the motion. Dude, look, man, it's a problem you deal with every day.

00:45:56.020 Yeah, it is. And like, I do have the best fucking team, but I, and I do have that. And I'm very 0.98

00:46:01.780 fucking proud of the team that I have, but there are people in this company that I have to kick in 0.99

00:46:06.340 fucking ass on a regular basis because they haven't had a click for them. And you used 0.99

00:46:11.080 to be that guy and you changed and now you've created value beyond what you fucking, what 0.99

00:46:17.300 you pay. Cause like, dude, he was making X. I, I paid him X plus and I gave him a raise 0.94

00:46:23.340 and I said, you haven't earned this raise yet. I'm giving it to you hopefully to incentivize

00:46:26.720 you to earn that. Then he went and fucking to a whole new level of taking initiative, solving 0.97

00:46:33.380 problems, coming up with ideas on his own. And dude, now he's taking it beyond that 0.98

00:46:38.120 within fucking 18 months. You know what I mean? And dude, that's the real world way 0.99

00:46:42.920 it works. You don't, that's why I recommend that book, the magic of thinking big so much

00:46:46.860 because it lays out the real world, how it works. You know, your parents are going to

00:46:51.940 and here's the problem, right? Your parents tell you all this fucking bullshit that isn't 1.00

00:46:55.960 fucking true. Your teachers tell you all this bullshit that isn't fucking true. Society 1.00

00:47:00.200 tells you all this bullshit that isn't fucking true. And now you go on the world and you get 1.00

00:47:04.780 your fucking ass beat in. All right. That's the problem. So forget everything you think 1.00

00:47:11.240 you fucking know and start listening to real world shit. Okay. Real world shit works like 1.00

00:47:16.700 this. It don't matter if you have a fucking degree, like all these kids come out of school 1.00

00:47:20.540 and unless you're coming out to be a fucking physician and you're going to be married to 1.00

00:47:25.120 a million dollars worth of fucking debt, I don't give a fuck what degree you have. Nobody 1.00

00:47:29.900 else does. And just because you have a fucking degree doesn't mean you're going to make 0.99

00:47:33.760 money. Ask any attorney that comes out of law school or any chiropractor or any fucking 1.00

00:47:38.860 dentist about that shit. Let me tell you about that. They come out, they think they're going 1.00

00:47:43.480 to be a fucking millionaire because they're a dentist. And then they've learned that they 1.00

00:47:47.080 don't know how to run a fucking business. Right? Because doing the teeth work is only half 1.00

00:47:51.860 the fucking job. The other half is running a fucking practice, which they have no fucking 1.00

00:47:56.360 clue how to do. Right. And even then they, even the ones that do make it to that six, that 1.00

00:48:00.980 magical six figure income, just like you were saying earlier there, it's all of a sudden

00:48:04.300 not enough. Right.

00:48:05.460 Well, no, I know dentists that make millions of dollars, but they're great businessmen.

00:48:09.160 Right. You know what I mean? It's not just how good their fucking teeth look. It's, you

00:48:13.500 know what? And you know what they do? They do all the shit that I just said. Right. They

00:48:16.740 solve problems. They take initiative. They form great habits. They learn how to create value

00:48:21.580 with their employees, with their customers, with everybody they surround and they touch. And guess

00:48:25.440 what happens. Shit grows. 1.00

00:48:26.760 Right. I got a comment on what you said though, Tyler, because I think that it was gold when 1.00

00:48:31.920 you said it was a confidence thing. And I think, I mean, I know we've said this, but

00:48:36.500 I think it's worth driving through to people is that it is, let's just be honest, at least

00:48:41.120 for me, it is scary to, to put yourself out there, to, to, to take initiative, to do all

00:48:46.160 that kind of stuff. And it, and it, well, I mean, I mean, because your, your boss could

00:48:51.380 just say, you've totally screwed everything up. You know what I'm saying?

00:48:56.020 Look, man, would you rather do that and deal with that? Or would you rather be broke your

00:49:00.040 whole fucking life? 1.00

00:49:00.740 Right. I totally agree. But I'm saying, well, so then what is there to be scared of? Like 1.00

00:49:05.120 we, we talk about risk. All right. What's the fucking risk here? It's not, it's not, the

00:49:10.640 risk isn't what if this happens is what if I fucking don't do this? 0.96

00:49:14.260 Right. Which is the mentality that successful people have. 0.96

00:49:17.180 That's right. So if I don't go the extra mile and I don't take the initiative and I

00:49:21.020 don't try to solve these problems and I just stay in my little fucking box, the best that 0.99

00:49:25.200 I'm ever going to have is what I have in the little fucking box. Right. And that's the 1.00

00:49:29.340 mentality that you're talking about that that should not fucking scare you. What should 0.95

00:49:34.280 scare you is staying in that fucking box. No fucking boss that's worth a fuck is going 1.00

00:49:41.000 to fire somebody or discipline somebody hard. They might yell at somebody, but if you're 1.00

00:49:46.020 that big of a pussy, you can't get yelled at, then we got bigger problems to talk about, 1.00

00:49:50.420 but you ain't going to get fired. You're going to learn a lesson and you're not going 1.00

00:49:54.300 to do the same fucking thing again. Anybody who knows fucking anything about managing 0.99

00:49:58.000 people gets that. All right. So the fear of B I'm afraid because if I go out there, 0.98

00:50:03.980 I might get fucking yelled at. That's it. That's a fucking, that's a, that's it. It's 0.98

00:50:08.320 not yelled at. I think people are afraid of doing something wrong.

00:50:12.020 Yes. That's what I'm saying. But what did you intend to do it wrong? No. Okay. So did

00:50:17.460 you know that? Did you, did you learn your lesson? Are you going to do that same thing

00:50:20.220 again? No. My competition. You didn't learn your lesson? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I, the tail

00:50:25.460 end of yours. So did you learn your lesson? Yes. Are you going to do it again? No. All right.

00:50:29.600 Then you just progress as an employee. Right. And part of it too is, I mean, kind of weaved

00:50:34.980 into all this. Hey, by the way, tell all your fucking friends you work with too. So they don't make 0.99

00:50:37.880 the same mistake as well. Right. So, so did we just fucking improve there or did we get

00:50:42.720 worse? Yeah. No, I'm asking. No, we, we improved. Okay. We improved. But what the fuck is there 0.98

00:50:48.280 to be afraid of? Well, nothing. Right. Yeah. And when I said confidence, it was not confidence 0.99

00:50:53.300 in getting, you know, yelled at. You're talking about confidence to know what I expect and what

00:50:57.800 he expects and know that I could do better. Gotcha. As an employee. That's where my confidence

00:51:02.520 came from. Gotcha. Gotcha. There's nothing to be afraid of, dude. People, people talk themselves

00:51:09.540 out of success all day because they're afraid of these things when really what they should be

00:51:13.600 afraid of is not doing those things. And if you want a whole podcast episode on that, we have one

00:51:18.480 on risk. I don't know what episode it is, but it's an early one. What? It's an earlier one. Yeah.

00:51:23.260 It's about risk. Yeah. Has risk in the title, I believe. Yeah. But that's the point. There's nothing

00:51:30.260 to be afraid of. And if you're going to get your ass beat by your boss and fired for doing 0.99

00:51:35.760 something that you think was genuinely good for the company, guess what? You're in the 0.99

00:51:38.880 wrong fucking company. So you'd be better off anyway for getting fired for that. 1.00

00:51:47.540 I can't improve on that. I think, no, you said it. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, absolutely.

00:51:52.540 No. And I think, I mean, the assumption here, and again, Andy, you're, you're, I mean,

00:51:58.760 just playing devil's advocate with, with everybody listening here is that you're very confident in

00:52:03.140 the point of, of if you have a lousy boss who doesn't appreciate this, then, you know, 0.92

00:52:08.480 screw that guy. And I think people need to come to that, come to that confidence and just say,

00:52:13.000 listen, if I do the right thing and I have a lousy boss, it's not my problem.

00:52:17.260 You have to have awareness there because a lot of people are not honest about how hard they're

00:52:23.680 really trying. They, they equate with time. People equate time served as value. I've been

00:52:30.380 here for 10 years. I deserve a raise. Right. I've been here for 10 years. I deserve a piece

00:52:34.280 of the company. I've been here for 10 years and I'm still only making $60,000 or whatever the fuck 0.98

00:52:39.520 it is. And when it comes to a growing company, people think that they deserve a raise just because

00:52:43.940 the company is growing. Right. Exactly. Right. And you know what? You fucking don't. Right.

00:52:47.980 Because you're not creating value. Yeah. Okay. So here's the thing.

00:52:54.420 Nobody gives a fuck how much time you've been here. They just don't. People only care about 0.98

00:52:59.960 what you can do. And the only thing that you're in control of is your capacity to do those things.

00:53:06.260 So put in a fucking work on your end and then you're valuable. It's not rocket science, but 0.99

00:53:12.060 people get caught up in all this fucking liberal type bullshit that the fucking people of the earth 1.00

00:53:17.700 think 1.00

00:53:18.980 is ideal. It's ideals. It's not reality. You know, minimum wage workers should earn $15. No,

00:53:26.040 they fucking shouldn't. Minimum wage is not designed to be a career. 0.99

00:53:30.540 It's designed. It's designed to be a fucking intro job for people who are in fucking high school, 1.00

00:53:35.280 you know, or getting out of college. You know what I mean? It's, it's all this bullshit. Oh, 1.00

00:53:41.520 you've been there for five years with no raise. That's the company fucking hates you. Well, 1.00

00:53:45.780 maybe you suck, you know, true. Like it is true. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. You have to be honest 1.00

00:53:52.860 with your assessment if the company values or not, because are you really doing anything

00:53:58.200 to be valued? Because valued is not just executing on what you get paid to do. You're getting

00:54:05.640 compensation for that. Valued is what you do beyond that. And I'm not saying in terms of hours,

00:54:11.120 you know, I'm saying in terms of results, you know, are you going the extra mile? Are you taking

00:54:16.180 initiative? Are you problem solving? Are you absorbing and adopting all these ideas that we're

00:54:22.560 talking about here and putting them into play on a regular basis? Are you doing those things or are

00:54:27.420 you not doing those things? Are you just showing up? Because showing up is not enough. And that is

00:54:33.340 not enough to say, Oh, my company doesn't appreciate me. No, the company doesn't appreciate

00:54:41.040 you because you're doing only what you're supposed to be fucking doing. You're a replaceable part of 0.99

00:54:46.380 the machine. If you want to earn more and you want to become a pivotal part, you want to make a real

00:54:53.140 career for yourself. You have to become an irreplaceable part of the machine, a part of the machine

00:54:59.740 that will, that if it is removed, the machine will no longer work the same way it did before.

00:55:06.960 See what I'm saying? People don't think like that. They think in terms of all this bullshit,

00:55:11.800 they teach them in high school, you know, Oh, if you worked this many years here, you fucking get 1.00

00:55:16.400 this. Are you the world doesn't work like that anymore? It's completely why dude, 50 years ago, 0.96

00:55:22.060 that's how the world did work. You were here for five years. You got a 10% raise. You were here for 10

00:55:26.980 years. You got a 20% bonus. You know, all this other shit. We're in a, we're in a different era

00:55:32.420 now. It's value driven. It doesn't matter who you are. Black, white, man, woman, blah, blah, blah. 0.64

00:55:38.780 It doesn't matter. If you create fucking value, there's opportunity for you to get fucking paid 1.00

00:55:44.040 and that's it. And people, people talk themselves out of that. Like it's not reality all fucking day. 0.99

00:55:51.080 How many times do we see this shit on internet? Uh, you know, like people that bitch about their 1.00

00:55:56.120 jobs online. Are you fucking retarded? Like, you know, first of all, they're going to see that. 1.00

00:56:02.580 Second of all, your friends all see it. Third of all, how many of those people could potentially

00:56:08.140 help you find a new job that just saw your true character of being a cancer and your fucking job? 0.99

00:56:14.040 I'm not fucking hiring you. Right. You see what I'm saying? Yeah, absolutely. Like dude, 1.00

00:56:20.160 people fucking just short circuit themselves all fucking day long because they can't accept reality. 0.99

00:56:25.460 And the reality is this, you create value, you do more than what you're paid for. You take 0.99

00:56:31.900 initiative, you solve problems, you learn how to tell the fucking truth. You bring constructive 0.99

00:56:36.500 criticism. You come with ideas, you become a contributing member of that company and you will

00:56:42.640 get fucking paid period. It's that simple. I couldn't help, but think of one of your other 0.99

00:56:50.480 core principles, which is you are the measure of your own success. And I was, as you were talking,

00:56:55.980 I was thinking, you know, Tyler can't point to Dave and say, well, Andy, uh, I created five videos. 0.99

00:57:02.900 Dave only created three because you could come back as a boss and say, yeah, but Dave busted his balls. 0.98

00:57:08.140 And that's what he is. That's what his potential is right now is creating three videos. Whereas your 0.96

00:57:13.380 potential is creating five. You know what I'm saying? So you can't compare it to somebody else.

00:57:18.200 People don't even compare themselves like that. So like that, that's another, that's a whole nother

00:57:23.300 point that we can make here. What is your fucking potential? I guarantee you, if you're listening to 1.00

00:57:30.260 this right now, you are nowhere near your potential. No, no fucking where near it. I'm nowhere near mine. 0.98

00:57:36.300 And I, and I, I'm willing to say I'm probably in a better quote, quote unquote, better position

00:57:42.620 than most of the people listening. And I'm nowhere. I haven't fucking scratched the surface

00:57:47.040 of my potential. So I know most of these people listening haven't either. Okay. And because they 0.97

00:57:52.460 don't look at themselves from position of being judgmental on their success based on their potential,

00:57:59.080 they judge their success based on the expectation of others or their position or their job description.

00:58:06.300 They do exactly what you said. They look over at their counterpart and they said, well, Andy,

00:58:11.120 you know, I, I, Dave is making, you know, this and you know, I'm, I'm doing better than him. So I

00:58:18.220 should be making, you know, twice as much. Well, not if you're capable of fucking doing 10 times as 0.99

00:58:24.020 much as him. And I know you're half assing yourself. I'm not going to fucking encourage that. 1.00

00:58:28.060 You know what I mean? Yeah. And not only that, why would you want to be like that? 0.96

00:58:32.820 Right. But people, people do that. Right. They try. It's the mentality of what I said in the

00:58:37.500 beginning. They don't realize they're working for themselves. Right. They're selling their time

00:58:41.820 and they want to get that time over with so they can go drink beer, uh, in the driveway with their 1.00

00:58:47.020 fucking neighbors at night. You know what I mean? Yeah. It's become a cliche, but cliches are a cliche 0.99

00:58:51.600 for a reason. Cause they're true half the time or most of the time. And that is that you're only

00:58:55.560 cheating yourself when you, when you, but don't realize your own full potential.

00:59:00.480 Look, man, I will just finish with what we started with. You work for yourself, period.

00:59:08.640 The actions, the habits you create, those things will be with you forever. Okay. That's why you have

00:59:14.040 people who are, you know, in their forties, you know, doing the same job they were doing when they're

00:59:18.500 19 because they created the habits that did not carry them past that point. Right.

00:59:25.560 That's it. Yep. And, and, and if you hate your boss and you say, I'm doing the bare minimum for

00:59:30.280 them, I'm doing the bare minimum for this company cause I hate it. And you don't realize that you're

00:59:35.160 creating the negative fucking habits that are going to help you fail anywhere you go. You're an idiot. 1.00

00:59:41.880 You're only, you're only killing your own potential. 1.00

00:59:44.700 How far, how far would you be in your fitness journey? If, uh, instead of taking action at the

00:59:49.520 beginning of the year, you just went online and bitched about how,

00:59:51.720 yeah, be 330 pounds. Probably. Yeah. Well, that's what I was on January 1st. So I'd still

00:59:57.660 be there. I'd probably be heavier. Right. But my point is, is that people don't fucking

01:00:02.760 understand that concept. That's why I led with it. You're working for yourself. Everything you do 0.98

01:00:08.980 affects you. It's not about the company all the time. If you want to make big dollars, you make it

01:00:14.060 about the company, but it's still about you because at the end of the day, it's you that gets the

01:00:18.680 benefit. Right? Losers, losers think I'm doing all this work and the company is making this money

01:00:24.660 and I don't get any of it. That's loser shit. Winners think I'm going to become a huge part of 1.00

01:00:29.780 this company so that I could fucking be successful as the company becomes successful. That's how it 0.97

01:00:35.700 works. That's the way life works. It's the way reality works. You can either accept that or you can

01:00:41.660 listen to all the other fucking losers that tell you all the same shit I've been saying where they say, 1.00

01:00:46.200 oh, the man fucks you over and the man this and that and the man doesn't want to give you anything 1.00

01:00:51.420 and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Well, you know what? If that's what you want to think, then enjoy 1.00

01:00:56.640 your fucking bush beer on your cooler in your fucking driveway tonight because I'm going to be 1.00

01:01:00.460 fucking working. So guys, that's it, man. Learn how to create value in yourself. Understand that you are 1.00

01:01:08.640 working for yourself and the benefits will come from the habits that you create. Whether you're cooking

01:01:14.420 French fries, whether you're sweeping floors or whether you're the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, 0.99

01:01:20.260 every fucking thing you do matters. All right. Vaughn, what's your social media? 0.99
