00:00:31.560 ranked uh you know we don't charge anything i'm not selling you anything so if you enjoy the content

00:00:36.240 if it helps you out um if it improved your life in any way please go on take the time take five

00:00:42.260 minutes and go leave a review for us on itunes uh it's a big deal for us all right guys look um i'm

00:00:48.780 gonna do something a little different today we did a podcast a few weeks ago on management and

00:00:54.120 leadership and since that podcast i've gotten a lot of questions from you guys and so what i want

00:00:58.860 to do is just take a short uh it's not going to be an hour-long podcast like we usually do on tuesday

00:01:03.720 it's gonna be a short podcast basically um addressing some of the major issues that i'm getting questions

00:01:09.540 about um guys when it comes to management and leadership like i said in the earlier podcast

00:01:15.880 it is the skill you're going to have to master to become more valuable in whatever organization that

00:01:23.320 you run and especially if you run your own business the hardest and most valuable skill

00:01:29.920 you're going to be able to learn is not to sell it is to manage a team and get them to perform and

00:01:37.000 this goes for everybody it goes from everybody from the guy sweeping the warehouse floor all the way to

00:01:43.720 the ceo if you don't start developing those skills before you need those skills you are going to be

00:01:50.620 stuck in a position for life basically wherever you're at you sure you might do a little better

00:01:56.120 you might upgrade a little bit but you're never going to become a high income earner all right so

00:02:00.560 management is extremely important leadership is extremely extremely important and they're very

00:02:07.000 very similar tasks now i got a lot of questions about how to how do i do this how do i if i'm the

00:02:13.440 guy at the warehouse how do i become a leader all right we'll start with that guys it doesn't matter

00:02:19.020 if you're the guy sweeping the floor in the warehouse okay if you're the only guy sweeping

00:02:23.800 the floor in the warehouse and you've got other people who are watching you who are above you who

00:02:29.920 are around you and they're looking at you how do you lead them right that's because people think oh

00:02:36.920 i've got to have people below me before i start to lead them no you don't all right the biggest thing 0.57

00:02:42.880 you have to learn is to take initiative to solve problems all right when you see a piece of trash

00:02:49.120 on the floor you pick it up when you see and a great way to do this guys is to always act like

00:02:54.780 somebody's watching you all right you you pretend as if the ceo is watching you or if you're the ceo

00:03:01.260 you pretend as if all your customers and all your employees are watching you all right if you pretend

00:03:06.680 like somebody's always watching you and you can always you know execute with that in mind that

00:03:13.200 whatever it is you do you're going to be very effective at showing and taking initiative which

00:03:18.800 is one of the key skills of being a leader so let's say you're that guy and you see the piece 0.98

00:03:23.220 of trash you don't go to the other guy whose piece of trash it is you say hey bro you left your piece 0.98

00:03:29.000 of trash over here on the floor no you pick it up you put it in a trash can and you keep doing that 0.99

00:03:34.900 and you do that and you do everything else that needs to be done everything else doesn't matter

00:03:40.460 if it's somebody above you's responsibility doesn't matter if it's somebody who uh you know

00:03:46.300 is a task with that other job if you see something that needs to be done you do it and you do it well

00:03:53.740 okay that's how you start to become a leader because here's the thing guys and this doesn't matter if

00:04:00.040 you're if you're the bottom guy everything i say here it doesn't matter if you're the bottom guy or if

00:04:04.180 you're the top guy the way you become the top guy is by mastering these skills and one of the things

00:04:10.480 you need to understand and this goes especially true let's say you have a team right now who you

00:04:15.480 need to manage and who you're trying to lead you need to understand that they are going to perform

00:04:22.300 at the minimal level that they see you perform so you could come in a hundred days out of a hundred

00:04:29.380 days 99 days you could come into work or come into whatever it is you're doing and you can execute

00:04:36.380 with one hundred percent perfection which i promise you none of you guys listening are doing right now

00:04:43.000 but let's say that you do and let's say that one day you come in because you got hung over or you got

00:04:48.220 a fight with your girlfriend or you got a you know in a car wreck that morning and you come in and you

00:04:53.680 perform at 90 which is still pretty fucking good those guys that you're leading will always always

00:05:01.600 always remember that one time that you did your 90 execution as opposed to your 100 execution and they

00:05:10.420 will only perform to that 90 they will see that 90 as the 100 for them that's how people are that's how

00:05:20.140 followers work that's how people do things and if you're going to lead people if you're going to

00:05:24.960 become a manager if you're going to become effective you're going to become a high income earner and

00:05:29.520 you're you're able to inspire and and drive and develop other people over the course of time which is

00:05:35.900 what basically creates high income earners you've got to understand how people operate you've got to be

00:05:44.180 the best that you can all the time because they are not going to do what you tell them to do

00:05:48.860 they're going to do what you do and that is the hardest thing to get through to people when I

00:05:55.360 coach them on being a leader and being a manager they think that they can execute 80 90 97 of the

00:06:03.260 time and still get the best out of their guys and it's impossible you guys have to understand that

00:06:10.240 they were going to do whatever your worst day is that's going to be their best day and that's not

00:06:15.280 because they suck that's because you show them that that's what's acceptable so you guys you have

00:06:21.040 to come in every single day with every single detail in mind that's another thing we talk about 0.98

00:06:27.020 taking initiative earlier now we're talking about attention to details okay you're walking through

00:06:32.700 your business and you know you see uh there's dust on top of one of the desks that is not a detail 0.97

00:06:40.540 that you should let slide whether you're the fucking warehouse guy or whether you're the ceo 0.96

00:06:44.840 your job right then isn't to go and tell the person whose job it is to clean that desk 1.00

00:06:51.700 to go wipe the desk down your job as an effective leader and an effective manager is go get a fucking 0.99

00:06:58.220 rag spray some fucking cleaner on it and clean the desk and a lot of you guys missed this point 0.99

00:07:05.320 you think leadership and management is about telling people what to do and it is but it's only about 0.99

00:07:12.400 telling people what to do once they know the expectations that you hold to yourself

00:07:18.000 all right if you go in like 98 of you do and try to tell people what to do people are not going to

00:07:26.620 respect you they're not going to listen to you you're not going to be able to develop an amazing

00:07:30.540 culture amongst your team they're just going to do the bare minimum they can do that will not create

00:07:36.960 real value for you what will create real value for you is being able to inspire lead get people to go

00:07:44.460 above and beyond and the only way you're going to get people to go above and beyond is by doing the

00:07:49.840 above and beyond every single opportunity you get whether they're watching or not watching

00:07:56.140 they know that you are the guy who goes way above way beyond with perfection every single time and

00:08:06.220 eventually somebody is going to notice that and you're going to get an opportunity and when those

00:08:11.460 opportunities come you're going to execute the same way you're going to do more you're going to do it

00:08:16.120 with perfection you're going to do it consistently and guess what you're going to get another opportunity

00:08:20.440 guys this skill that i'm talking about is really really easy it is really really simple to become a great

00:08:27.600 leader and a great manager but it all starts with yourself it all starts with holding yourself to the

00:08:33.040 accountable to the most minute insignificant detail that other people would walk right past and ignore and

00:08:40.100 think that it's no big deal and the easiest way to develop this skill guys like i said is to always

00:08:45.300 hold yourself accountable by imagining that the whole entire world is watching what you do at all

00:08:51.700 times whether it's at the grocery store and there's a rogue cart out in the grocery lot okay it's not

00:08:58.440 just because it's not your cart doesn't mean you shouldn't go put it away all right you hold yourself

00:09:03.520 accountable to the most finite details as if the whole world is watching and if you can hold yourself

00:09:09.340 to accountable to the most finite details whether you're at work whether you're at home whether you're at

00:09:14.520 uh you know the grocery store wherever it is you might be it's going to be easy for you to develop

00:09:20.080 those skills with your team and they're going to do what you do they're going to do all the little

00:09:24.440 things that need to be done they're going to execute above and beyond they're not going to let the

00:09:28.520 little details go they're going to listen to every little thing and guys when you get a team that does

00:09:33.020 that now you're leading them now managing them becomes easy now you're building a team that has

00:09:39.660 culture that has drive that has ambition that takes pride in their job and guess what guys 0.99

00:09:45.340 people that can do that get fucking paid 0.99

00:09:47.980 you 1.00
