In this episode of the MFCEO Project, we dive deep into what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur and how to execute a plan that actually works. This is a message that I think a lot of people miss out on because they don't have the right tools or the right mindset to execute and execute on a plan.

00:00:32.120 podcasts in the world that says something about you guys you know I've always asked you guys if
00:00:38.120 you know a like-minded friend tell them about us if you uh could take a minute to leave us a review
00:00:43.420 and click subscribe that helps us a ton and guys I know you're doing it because I'm seeing the
00:00:49.280 numbers so guys thank you so much thank you for bringing uh attention to this movement and
00:00:55.920 attention to this podcast uh it means a lot to me this is not something I make money doing it's
00:01:01.540 something that I do because I have a passion for helping people know the truth about what it takes
00:01:09.260 to succeed now with that being said guys if this is your first time listening what I just said is
00:01:17.480 what we always ask if you enjoy the podcast if you get something out of it if you uh whether it be
00:01:23.140 motivation for an hour or whether it be a lesson that you take with you for the rest of your life
00:01:28.580 tell somebody about it share the podcast um I'm giving you this information in good faith
00:01:34.920 hit me back with a solid on the back side guys look here's the deal today is Thursday thunder and
00:01:42.260 while it's usually motivation and motivation is practical because just like a shower guys you've
00:01:50.840 got to be motivated right you've got to be motivated on a consistent basis I preach discipline 0.98
00:01:55.900 discipline is the most important thing but it's always good to have that extra kick in the ass or that 0.98
00:02:00.820 extra boost of energy to help you get shit done usually on Tuesday we have practicality and on Thursday 0.98
00:02:07.800 we have a little bit more motivational message today I have a very practical reflection tool 0.90
00:02:15.140 slash message that I need you to absorb it's going to be short it's going to be sweet but it's something
00:02:20.840 for you to think about recently I have my good friend Ryan Hardwick here in St. Louis Ryan is a
00:02:28.480 tremendous entrepreneur okay he owns a company called Mountain Motorsports in Georgia and they have
00:02:36.720 eight locations it is the nicest uh motorcycle ATV UTV dealership that I've ever been to on par with
00:02:44.340 my good buddy Len who owns Pitbull Power Sports in uh Springfield Missouri area these guys are
00:02:50.780 entrepreneurs okay they deal with people day in and day out and while Ryan was here um we had a
00:02:58.700 discussion over dinner which I thought was super interesting and that day in particular I was we were both
00:03:05.480 about the same age and we're sitting here and I'm kind of going through uh texting on my phone and
00:03:09.960 reaching out to some of my guys and I look at them and I'm like dude do you ever get tired of people
00:03:17.320 not fucking getting it because here's how I was feeling at the time and if you manage people you're 0.88
00:03:22.720 going to understand this too I lay out a very specific plan within my companies it's very specific 0.98
00:03:28.700 that plan is developed over the course of years it's not something I just pulled out and said hey
00:03:35.860 guys this is what we're going to do today this is years and years and years of trial and error and
00:03:40.520 and it's very simple okay it's hard to execute because it takes things like effort and discipline
00:03:47.520 but it's simple to understand and we started talking that I feel like the reason that most people 0.99
00:03:57.040 fail isn't because they're dumb it's because they're too fucking smart for their own good 0.99
00:04:05.580 for example I give somebody a list of things that they need to do to be successful in one of my retail 0.99
00:04:12.020 stores I say here's the list a b c d e it's very fucking simple so the first time that they come into
00:04:20.860 the company they go out and they execute the list a b c d e f e and what happens when people first
00:04:27.740 come to my company they've never worked in a store before I give them the list this list that I've made
00:04:33.840 up over years of trial and error it's you know one two three four five six seven very simple just do
00:04:41.940 those seven things they come in not knowing anything not being trained anything and they follow the steps
00:04:48.460 because they don't know anything else to do they go out and they execute the plan one two three four 0.83
00:04:53.240 five six seven and what happens they're successful they do great shit okay they succeed but what's soon 0.89
00:05:01.580 to follow is where the problem comes in because they they start to think like this man I'm good at 0.87
00:05:08.560 this man I'm doing pretty good I'm seeing some results I'm seeing some success and then after doing
00:05:15.460 one two three four five six seven for the first six months of their career they start doing one
00:05:21.380 two three five four seven six okay they start doing it out of order because they start to believe that
00:05:29.460 it's them or instead of doing it out of order they just make up their own steps one two three four five
00:05:36.580 five and a quarter six six and three quarters seven they start adjusting the plan to suit their taste 0.96
00:05:44.360 because you know what they're a natural they're a fucking natural at what they do even though you 0.93
00:05:49.560 gave them the exact recipe to follow okay this would be the equivalent of somebody who was going to bake 0.97
00:05:56.460 a cake and the best cake baker in the world let's say it's Martha Stewart which I know it's not you all
00:06:02.200 you foodies out there know it's not but I don't know food so I just know how to eat it but let's just say
00:06:06.660 it's Martha Stewart she gives you the recipe for the cake and you go out and you make 50 cakes off of her 0.97
00:06:12.000 recipe and you're like fuck I am the best cake maker in the world and instead of following the 0.98
00:06:16.660 recipe on the 51st time you start making up your own okay 52nd time you make up your own 50 57th time 0.99
00:06:24.560 you make up your own and all of a sudden a plan that's been working now because your ego has taken
00:06:32.020 over your thought process because you start believing that it's you not the system
00:06:38.000 what happens you start to sell less cakes you start to get negative feedback you start to have
00:06:44.860 not good interactions things start to fall apart and where you're on the top of the world and you're
00:06:50.800 the fucking best ever you soon zoom to the bottom and when you're at the bottom you lose that confidence 0.90
00:06:57.280 you're frustrated because you're looking around and you're saying well I'm doing this I used to be 0.98
00:07:03.440 great and you start to put all this accountability onto some mystical force that doesn't even exist
00:07:09.800 instead of looking at yourself and saying I'm not following the plan and this cycle repeats itself 0.99
00:07:17.300 over and over and over you get really good when you're following the plan then you get shit when 1.00
00:07:24.420 you start thinking you're the shit you start to follow the plan again because you have to regroup and go 0.99
00:07:29.200 back to basics what happens things start to go good again then you start believing in yourself again 1.00
00:07:35.900 and then you start thinking you can fuck up the recipe and what happens you go back down and this 0.72
00:07:41.060 cycle goes up and down up and down up and down sometimes for people's entire lives this is why so many people
00:07:52.900 can find small bits of success but not maintain it and it all comes down to their own ego you start believing
00:08:02.480 you're the best you start thinking you're great if you're an athlete you start skipping practice you start
00:08:09.540 cutting corners you stop practicing layups and you start practicing 360 dunks you stop worrying about the team you 0.99
00:08:18.260 start thinking you're the shit you guys have to understand being successful is about being consistent 1.00
00:08:27.540 at the right things I know a lot of you are listening and thinking wow that's me well no shit it's you 1.00
00:08:33.840 the system that is out there for success does not change it's when you start to change it because you 0.99
00:08:41.940 start to believe that you're the shit that it crumbles I call this the Midas touch a lot of people 0.97
00:08:49.460 in business on a bigger scale okay right now I'm talking about employees but on a bigger scale 1.00
00:08:55.340 they build one successful business then maybe they build another one that's similar to that
00:09:01.560 then they think like for me this would be like me right I'm good at sports supplements and I'm good
00:09:08.600 at health supplements and I'm good at manufacturing and distributing and retail and all these things
00:09:14.560 that have to do with one thing and then that would be like for me to say I'm gonna start a cell phone 0.95
00:09:19.420 company I don't know shit about cell phones but because my ego is so fucking big because I've had 0.95
00:09:25.220 some success in this other area I said fuck it I'm gonna do it anyway I start believing I have the 0.98
00:09:30.420 Midas touch that I can go around and anything I do will work because it's me and I'm gonna tell you 0.99
00:09:36.220 on a large scale or a medium scale or a small scale that mentality will crush you because it's
00:09:42.860 not you it's your understanding of what goes into what you're doing and your expertise at that specific
00:09:52.120 skill that keeps you successful when you start thinking it translates to all these other things
00:09:59.400 that's when you start fucking with the plan now am I saying you couldn't go start a cell phone company 0.80
00:10:03.640 absolutely not you definitely could but you got to realize that you're going to be starting at the 0.96
00:10:07.800 bottom you're starting over again okay and the point that I'm getting to which I understand is
00:10:14.520 long-winded here is this when you're an employee you have usually a system to follow that gets you
00:10:23.380 successful I know we do in our company and I was frustrated and venting to Ryan and we started
00:10:31.940 talking about how the ups and downs and ups and downs and ups and downs how they come to be because 0.99
00:10:38.120 I can't understand that behavior because I'm the kind of person like I don't look at my own shit and 0.98
00:10:44.540 think it's because of me I know that I fucked up every single thing and this is what works and I just 0.99
00:10:48.860 keep doing what works I don't need to go fuck with the recipe okay I keep doing what works over and 0.98
00:10:55.200 over and over again and then when it doesn't work that's whenever I make the change I don't make the 0.99
00:10:59.480 change just to fucking make the change so we were talking about this and we we we talked and we talked 0.96
00:11:07.380 and we talked and we came up with this there is three people in this world just three only three 0.98
00:11:16.120 okay there's the person who can look around where they are they can make a list they could take
00:11:27.700 initiative they can make a list and then they can do the list those people are the highest paid people
00:11:35.860 we're going to call those number ones number twos are people who you can give a list to
00:11:42.380 and they can do the list those people can still be paid pretty well but we're going to call those the
00:11:49.820 number twos no matter what they do they will never look around and be able to make a list on their own
00:11:54.440 and for you as a leader to think that they're going to is only going to frustrate you and then 0.98
00:12:01.040 there's the number threes number threes they can't make a list and they can't do a fucking list either 0.99
00:12:07.100 and these people still have value even though they can't make a list and they can't do a list 0.90
00:12:11.640 they can still do basic tasks and every company needs those kind of people at some level
00:12:16.200 they can be guys who sweep the floor or clean the warehouse okay there's jobs for those people 0.94
00:12:22.580 but they are going to constantly fuck up they're going to constantly make mistakes they're going 0.89
00:12:27.540 to constantly not do what you tell them to do and no matter how many times or how long you tell them 0.99
00:12:33.880 they are never going to be better than a number three okay so you have ones twos and threes and the
00:12:40.560 reason I wanted to bring this up to you is because I want you to think about where you fit in
00:12:44.500 because only one of those groups is truly successful financially
00:12:49.880 the number ones those people are valuable they can look they can come in a situation 0.95
00:12:56.940 look at what needs to be done and fucking do it and they can do that over and over and over and over
00:13:01.580 again all entrepreneurs fall into that category real entrepreneurs not entrepreneurs you know right 0.98
00:13:06.940 now entrepreneur is the hot thing a lot of people don't fall into that category even though they want to
00:13:11.700 be an entrepreneur they never will be all real entrepreneurs fit in number one most managers
00:13:16.860 fit in number one most executives fit into number one most high-paid individuals fit into number one
00:13:22.440 now are there high-paid number twos absolutely there's high-paid people who are salespeople that 0.66
00:13:27.900 are given a list of people to call on and they go out and close the fucking deal they get paid very 0.99
00:13:32.060 well those people can make five six seven eight hundred thousand dollars a year selling shit okay 0.99
00:13:37.220 but they will never be the kind of person who can run on their own they will never be the kind of 0.96
00:13:44.400 person that takes initiative they're only going to do what you tell them to do and that inherently
00:13:49.360 limits their value most of these people are not high paid most of these people are moderately paid 0.98
00:13:55.700 even low pay okay there's not that much value there and I know as I describe this shit all of you 0.98
00:14:02.960 think you're number ones but I'm telling you right now you're fucking not because number ones are 0.98
00:14:08.640 consistent number ones number twos are consistent number twos and number threes are just number 0.99
00:14:13.700 threes and they're always going to be number threes okay now can you move from one to the other
00:14:18.840 absolutely that's what personal development is about that's what this podcast is about is to give
00:14:24.900 you the tools to move from three to two to one okay but you got to execute them it takes practice
00:14:33.600 it takes commitment to personal development it takes a want to become a number one you have to understand
00:14:41.100 very few people are born number ones they're made number ones and they become number ones because
00:14:48.120 of necessity either they want to make a bunch of money or they got to survive so they become that way
00:14:54.880 but there are very few number ones and a lot of you guys out there listening right now you think
00:15:00.360 you're number one but you're not because number ones never fault are never number ones never cut
00:15:05.960 corners number ones never take breaks number ones never do shit that isn't unnecessary and the best 0.99
00:15:11.620 part of it number ones don't drop the fucking ball they are on it they have a sense of urgency 0.99
00:15:17.260 they fucking care and they're going to get everything done that they need to get done to win 0.98
00:15:22.420 and that's not most of you most of you are probably number twos you're looking for someone to tell you 0.98
00:15:29.200 what to do you're looking for someone to give you orders or give you a list or give you this or tell
00:15:34.800 you that there's a big need for that but you've got to realize what you are because if you're a number
00:15:43.180 two and you think you're a number one and you think that the whole system and the whole world and hold 0.97
00:15:47.080 this is fucking you like we talked about on a few podcasts ago where people say oh no my worth 0.99
00:15:53.360 motherfucker your worth is your worth you are worth what you're worth the world tells you what you're 1.00
00:16:00.320 worth real quick so what your paycheck says is exactly what you're worth now you may be working 0.99
00:16:05.800 to be worth a lot more but what you're worth when you say oh no you're worth your worth is on that 0.63
00:16:10.460 fucking paycheck it's accurate there isn't anybody out there who's number one who's a hidden gem 0.97
00:16:15.940 somewhere in the fucking pile of people number one stand out number ones are valuable you know 0.99
00:16:22.300 why because number ones are rare they're extremely extremely rare and guys the reason i'm sharing 0.98
00:16:28.400 this breakdown with you is because i know it's true i've lived it i've been there i've seen it
00:16:33.580 you can change but most people think they're better than they actually are and they're not do you how
00:16:40.540 many times do you drop the ball how many times do you miss making those sales or miss making that call 0.97
00:16:44.740 how many times do you fuck up your list how many times do you have to go and explain why shit didn't 0.98
00:16:48.920 get done those are all huge indications of number two behavior you're not a number one and you don't 0.99
00:16:55.200 deserve to get compensated like a number one and if you're an entrepreneur and you're a number two you're
00:17:00.000 gonna fucking lose your goal should be to accurately be aware of where you are in the system and how to 0.73
00:17:08.400 move ahead and the whole point of this conversation was this ryan was trying to explain to me and we 0.99
00:17:15.980 were trying to discuss how we could not be so angry when people can't follow a simple list 0.98
00:17:21.040 because it's frustrating it's frustrating as hell when you give someone a fucking blueprint on how to 0.99
00:17:28.680 win and they can't fucking execute it it's even more frustrating when they look around and can't see 0.98
00:17:33.860 what needs to be done those people are not valuable those people will never earn six figures those 0.99
00:17:40.120 people will never have the dream house and the dream car and the shit they say they want to have 0.99
00:17:44.820 they will constantly go through life being frustrated because they can't figure out how to fucking execute 0.99
00:17:49.920 and they can't figure out how to take initiative but you if you're the ceo listening to this and you 0.97
00:17:54.820 have employees like this it could help you mentally figure out why people are a certain way by placing
00:18:01.080 them as a one two or three so if you own a company right now and you're frustrated like i get when i 0.61
00:18:07.080 give somebody the exact fucking plan and they can't fucking do it look at yourself and say hey are they 0.93
00:18:12.600 a one two or three and do i have the wrong person in the wrong spot because the reality is it's your 0.99
00:18:16.920 responsibility just like it's mine but this system can help you figure out where you are and where you
00:18:24.460 need to be if you're a number three and that's what you're going to be that's fine go be a number
00:18:30.680 three but don't expect to get paid like a number one or a number two if you're a number two and you 0.97
00:18:35.200 can't figure out how to take initiative you can't figure out how to get shit done if you can't figure 0.78
00:18:38.560 out how to look around you and see what needs to be done and get it done that's fine you're valuable
00:18:43.580 in certain places you're just never going to be paid like a number one if you're a number one you 0.98
00:18:49.800 know you're number one because that fucking paycheck that you're looking at right now has a lot of 0.98
00:18:53.140 fucking zeros on it and if it doesn't you're not a number one because you haven't stood out 0.99
00:19:00.200 enough to fucking command that kind of pay nobody comes and gives you that kind of pay nobody comes 0.99
00:19:04.840 and offers it to you it's commanded because you're so fucking rare and so fucking valuable and i guess 0.97
00:19:11.220 the lesson here is this wherever you are on the scale the reality is this initiative pays executing 0.95
00:19:18.600 pays leadership pays knowing how to sell pays knowing how to replicate yourself when you're a number 0.74
00:19:25.360 one pays huge everything else is bullshit so remember that system number one can make a list 0.98
00:19:35.640 can see what needs to be done can fucking execute the list and can do that over and over and over 0.98
00:19:40.820 again and show other people how to do it number two you can give them a list and they can do it 0.96
00:19:45.560 they can't create a list they can't see what needs to be done they don't have vision and they can't
00:19:50.480 replicate themselves number three you can't do a list you can't make a list but you can do simple tasks
00:19:59.520 which one are you
00:20:01.480 and if you clearly identify which one you are you'll understand why you are where you are
00:20:07.180 your goal should be to move through the ranks it should be to develop the skills you have to have
00:20:11.620 to be a number one you've got to take initiative you've got to learn how to execute you've got to
00:20:17.520 learn how to lead you've got to learn how to sell and you've got to learn how to replicate
00:20:22.680 other people into people that will be number ones as well if you're not one of those people you're
00:20:29.480 making far less money than you could be and that's just the bottom line
