00:00:00.000 What is up guys, you're listening to the MFCEO Project. I'm Andy, I'm your host, and I am
00:00:12.800 the motherfucking CEO. Guys, if this is your first time joining, welcome. Today is Thursday
00:00:20.080 Thunder. It's going to be a little bit of motivation, a little bit of practicality,
00:00:24.900 really just a little bit of whatever I feel like talking about. And I got a couple things
00:00:29.280 I want to talk about. One is this, okay? I know a lot of you guys follow this as entrepreneurial
00:00:38.520 slash motivation slash personal development podcast. And so the information that I give
00:00:44.900 you always is going to be relevant to most of those things at the same time, all right?
00:00:50.620 And one thing that I'm seeing over and over and over again, especially out of brand new
00:00:56.880 entrepreneurs is something that I call the shotgun approach, okay? The shotgun approach
00:01:02.620 is this. I come out with a product. I make a brand, what I think is a brand. I make a logo
00:01:11.020 because most people think a logo is a brand. It's not the same thing. I make a logo. I go
00:01:16.300 out. I try to sell the product and it goes okay.
00:01:19.780 Okay. And you know, people like the product, but they don't, you know, sales aren't going
00:01:26.300 crazy. Uh, I'm not worth a hundred million dollars yet. Uh, I have to work really hard.
00:01:32.600 And so for that reason, I think that what I'm doing is the wrong thing. All right. And what
00:01:39.500 brings this up is I got a comment, uh, sent to me via Facebook that was basically someone who
00:01:46.620 has been executing on a business and they're very frustrated because they're not seeing
00:01:52.860 much progress after four months, four fucking months. Okay. I've been fucking had like injuries
00:02:04.360 that last longer than four months. And you're talking about your fucking career. All right.
00:02:09.840 Four months is nothing. It's a speck of fucking dust. All right. You guys have to understand that
00:02:16.060 things that are going to be successful are going to take time. I talk about this all the
00:02:21.680 time when I talk about aggressive patience, which is the concept that you have to understand
00:02:28.020 that you have to be patient, but you also have to understand that during that time of you being
00:02:34.400 patient, it's a time of active patience. It's aggressive patience. During that time, you are doing
00:02:40.540 every single thing, calling every single person, sending every single email, creating every piece
00:02:47.060 of content that you possibly can to make your business productive. Okay. But instead, here's
00:02:54.340 what we see most of the time. We see people who start out and they get four months in, they get
00:03:00.400 frustrated. Things aren't going the way they want. And so they start up another company.
00:03:05.080 Okay. And they abide to this rule or this idea that there's some sort of serial entrepreneur.
00:03:13.200 Okay. So they start another company and they do the same thing. It's, it could be a related
00:03:17.880 product, could be a not related product. Usually it's something that's totally different because
00:03:23.480 they feel like they're on the wrong track because the first thing is taking time. All right. So they
00:03:28.320 start up a new thing. And then what they do is they go out and they try to do the same things.
00:03:32.800 They do the same things they did the first four months and then they get frustrated again
00:03:36.480 because they're in the same spot. And guys, you have to realize that just because something
00:03:44.100 is taking time doesn't mean that you're on the wrong track. What it does mean is that your
00:03:50.400 life is going to go like this. If you don't understand the aspect of time, you're going, it's
00:03:56.340 like running a marathon. It's, you start off to run a marathon. It's 26.2 miles. You get
00:04:01.740 three miles in and you say, fuck, I'm not there yet. And you turn around and you go
00:04:06.000 back and you say, you know what? I'm going to start a different marathon. Maybe I'll
00:04:08.760 have better results with that marathon. So you enter a new marathon, you go out, you
00:04:13.080 run 3.7 miles and you say, fuck, I'm not there yet. So then you turn around and you
00:04:18.300 go back to the beginning. That's what most people do their entire lives in business. Things
00:04:23.760 get tough. Things get hard. Instead of persevering, instead of utilizing the time that they
00:04:29.720 have to become the best at what they're doing, they decide to start over because they believe
00:04:34.360 that there's some sort of natural energy or, uh, you know, magic that creates something
00:04:41.040 that goes from zero to fucking, you know, lifestyles of the rich and famous in two fucking
00:04:46.400 days. And it doesn't happen guys. You are doing exactly what the media tells you life is
00:04:54.560 about. They, all they show is instant gratification. They show lottery winners. They show the overnight
00:05:00.840 successes, but they never show the real struggle. And I see all kinds of entrepreneurs, quote
00:05:07.200 unquote entrepreneurs. They're not real entrepreneurs because real entrepreneurs actually create,
00:05:11.180 innovate and have creative aspects about themselves. They're actually just business owners, but I
00:05:17.080 see a lot of business owners doing what I'm talking about. They're not allowing time to
00:05:22.640 do its work. And we talk about this a lot guys, because it's so fucking important. All
00:05:27.980 right. If you're in a, if you're an entrepreneur, if you're somebody who's on a fitness program,
00:05:33.320 all right, the shotgun approach, if you're trying to achieve anything, the shotgun approach
00:05:38.120 of, well, this didn't work after a short amount of time. So I'm going to try this. Something
00:05:41.460 new is going to fucking hold you back. All right. It doesn't matter if you're in whatever
00:05:46.120 goal it is. It could be business. It could be fitness. It could be whatever area of
00:05:49.860 your life. When you set out to make a big change, it's going to take fucking time. And
00:05:54.660 that's the reality of the situation. Okay. So that's the first thing I want to talk about.
00:06:01.100 Be conscious of the shotgun approach. I see people in my own industry who I know listen
00:06:06.700 to this podcast, starting brand after brand, after brand, after brand, after brand, when
00:06:12.200 they don't even understand why the first brand isn't fucking selling. Okay. How can you,
00:06:16.220 how can you call yourself some sort of serial entrepreneur when you have never fucking built
00:06:21.180 something that is actually truly successful, but instead you keep starting over and over
00:06:25.460 and over guys, that's a sure recipe for failure. Focus on what you do, become the best at it,
00:06:32.240 put in the time, pay the fucking dues. And eventually great things are going to start happening.
00:06:39.200 That's the way the world works. There's no getting around it. There's no shortcuts or no
00:06:43.380 cutting corners. There's no secret program. There's no way to fast forward the process.
00:06:48.460 It just takes time and you've got to be patient and you've got to be aggressively patient during
00:06:54.620 the lag time to make sure you're doing every single thing you can. Okay. Now I do have another thing I
00:07:00.780 want to talk about because I basically come up with these Thursday thunders and you're getting two
00:07:05.280 for one today because I make notes, but I feel like, you know, I haven't been up to date on the
00:07:10.220 Thursday thunders as much. Um, and I want to give you guys some extra value today just for being
00:07:15.840 patient with me. Um, I have somebody who I'm helping build their personal brand. Uh, and
00:07:23.820 they asked me a question about, you know, what you need to do to build a personal brand. How do you get,
00:07:32.160 you know, attention? How do you build an Instagram? We were talking through all these things
00:07:35.860 and we brought up the fact of, you know, you have to understand that when you are building a personal
00:07:44.600 brand. Okay. And I just had an article, if you guys saw come out on Inc magazine, where they talked
00:07:49.420 about personal branding. Um, it mentioned me as an example, which I thought was really cool. Uh,
00:07:54.820 but what you have to realize on personal branding guys, and we're going to have a whole podcast coming
00:08:00.460 up on this on Tuesday on personal branding. Um, but what you have to realize guys is this. If you
00:08:07.220 don't toot your own fucking horn, nobody's going to fucking toot it for you. All right. And we're
00:08:12.520 all brought up to be humble and quiet and meek and modest and all those things. And they're all
00:08:17.520 admirable qualities. I understand that, but they all have specific meanings too. When you present the
00:08:23.380 facts about yourself, that's not bragging. Okay. Can you present it in a way of bragging? Absolutely.
00:08:28.640 But there's also a way of just letting people know what, you know, or what you've accomplished
00:08:33.860 or what you're working on without it sounding like you're bragging. And guys, a lot of people
00:08:38.840 are held back by starting a personal brand because they don't want to talk about themselves. Well,
00:08:42.780 guys, if you don't talk about yourselves, nobody's going to fucking talk about you. Okay. And if you
00:08:48.120 don't lead an interesting life, nobody's going to talk about you. And sometimes leading an interesting
00:08:53.200 life means that other people who aren't as fucking interesting, aren't going to approve.
00:08:56.880 They're not going to, they're not going to say, Oh, I agree with that. They're going to disagree.
00:09:01.260 So what I'm trying to get at guys is this, you, if you want to build a personal brand,
00:09:06.300 which all of you listening should be working on because it's going to become the most valuable
00:09:10.160 asset in the next five years, it's going to be more valuable than your education. It's
00:09:14.240 going to be more valuable than a degree. It's going to be more valuable than who your parents
00:09:17.900 are, who they know, or what school you went to. It's going to be more valuable than anything.
00:09:21.780 The amount of influence you have is the new resume. All right. And you guys have to understand
00:09:27.320 that if you're looking to get ahead, building that right now is extremely, extremely important
00:09:32.020 because the idea of everybody is a brand has not caught on fully yet. Not even at all. Really
00:09:37.900 everybody's still looking at it. Like there's the stands and then there's the guys on the field
00:09:42.920 playing the game. And so a lot of people, you know, assign themselves to be spectators when
00:09:48.160 in reality, everybody's a brand. They just don't realize it yet. Okay. So, but, but when
00:09:54.660 I've talked to people about building a brand, a lot of people are uncomfortable because they're
00:09:58.040 uncomfortable talking about themselves. They're uncomfortable stepping against the grain.
00:10:01.660 They're uncomfortable actually stepping out and doing something that other people might
00:10:05.500 not, you know, appreciate or approve of or like, but guys, that's a necessary action.
00:10:11.160 It's necessary for you to do that. If you don't do that, if you don't step out, guess what?
00:10:17.000 People have nothing to talk about. So if they have nothing to talk about, why the fuck are
00:10:21.160 they going to talk about you? So by actually doing what you want to do, becoming who you
00:10:26.260 want to become, becoming an interesting person, living an interesting life and documenting that
00:10:30.720 life on social media, that's not bragging. That's just being who the fuck you are. Okay.
00:10:36.700 Let's look at me for an example. I fly on a private plane. I drive exotic cars. I, you know,
00:10:43.980 I go and speak at these functions with people all the time and I do a lot of cool shit. You know,
00:10:49.680 I race exotic cars across the country. Me posting about that is not bragging. Me posting about that
00:10:55.400 is actually documenting my life. People might interpret it as bragging, but you know what?
00:11:00.980 If people interpret that as bragging, fuck them. I don't really care. But what it does is it gives
00:11:06.460 people something to talk about. I'm leading a life that's interesting. I'm leading a life that's
00:11:10.520 relevant. I'm leading a life that people want to talk about and leading a life that people want
00:11:14.960 to talk about is the biggest part of developing a personal brand. Okay. Then what comes is you
00:11:22.260 getting involved in conversations, uh, you connecting with people like-minded and we're going to get into
00:11:26.960 all those details on Tuesday. But guys, what I want to really stress on right now is this.
00:11:33.260 If you can't talk about yourself a little bit, if you can't let people know about who you are,
00:11:37.780 if you're uncomfortable letting people know what you're great at in a, in a, in a factual way,
00:11:44.300 not a bragging way, you're going to have a really hard time developing any kind of following.
00:11:49.400 All right. Cause people want to talk about what's interesting and there's nothing interesting
00:11:52.540 about somebody who won't let people know what the fuck they do. Okay. So I'm not telling you to go
00:11:58.140 out and brag. I'm not telling you to go out and fucking rub shit in people's faces. I'm not going
00:12:02.860 out and tell you to like make shit up about yourself. But what I am going out and asking
00:12:07.080 you to do is to be authentic with who you are, who you want to be, what actions you're taking,
00:12:12.940 who you're talking to, what you're doing on a day-to-day basis and share that shit. And then
00:12:17.820 you're going to have a foundation for a personal brand. But remember, if you don't toot your own
00:12:22.980 horn, nobody else is going to fucking toot it for you. That's it.
