00:00:08.000 Hey everybody come on in!
00:00:10.000 It's time for Coffee with Scott Adams
00:00:14.000 I tried to recreate from memory the simultaneous sip preamble
00:00:20.000 I think I got most of it right but we're going to try it in a moment
00:00:25.000 I hope you're prepared
00:00:27.000 You know what you need
00:00:29.000 I think you do.
00:00:30.320 All you need is a cup or mugger, a glass, a canteen jugger, a flask, a goblet, chalice, or a stein, a vessel of any kind.
00:00:36.160 It's not the same as the usual.
00:00:38.900 Fill it with your favorite liquid.
00:00:40.700 I like coffee.
00:00:42.600 And join me now for the unparalleled pleasure, the dopamine hit of the day,
00:00:48.080 the thing that makes everything better, including systemic racism.
00:00:53.720 It's called the simultaneous sip, and it happens now.
00:00:55.720 Go.
00:00:59.000 Don't you feel better already?
00:01:06.220 I know I do.
00:01:08.020 So let's talk about all the fun news.
00:01:12.240 All right?
00:01:13.440 There's lots of it.
00:01:15.240 Here's a little news bit that you probably completely missed,
00:01:19.100 because the news likes to focus on the important stuff,
00:01:23.020 such as what is the exact shape of the handle you use on your garage?
00:01:29.000 Important news like that.
00:01:31.300 But one of the things you might have missed is that the Trump administration won a big court victory
00:01:36.320 about hospital price transparency,
00:01:40.140 meaning that the hospital has to tell you what stuff costs before you go in,
00:01:45.480 so you can do a little shopping.
00:01:46.660 Oh, I forgot Tankard.
00:01:50.500 Yes, Tankard, Chalice, or Stein?
00:01:54.300 Yeah, I think that's right.
00:01:55.380 So, put these three things together.
00:02:00.020 You've got this victory in hospital price transparency.
00:02:04.000 So the Trump administration is going to allow you to shop better,
00:02:07.860 or at least we hope that's where it's going,
00:02:09.940 shop better for price for hospitals.
00:02:12.520 That should lower prices over time.
00:02:14.280 We also saw the change for telehealth, where doctors can practice across state lines.
00:02:23.000 In theory, if that becomes permanent, and I think it will,
00:02:26.580 there's more chance that it will than it won't,
00:02:29.120 that should lower the cost of a doctor visit,
00:02:32.660 both for the doctor and for the patient as well.
00:02:34.900 Now, I think there's something going on also with pharmaceutical costs.
00:02:40.340 I'm not up on that.
00:02:41.920 But imagine, if you will, that November comes,
00:02:45.080 and Trump can say the following.
00:02:47.880 We got you telehealth.
00:02:49.760 We got you hospital price transparency,
00:02:54.020 and we're doing something on drug pricing.
00:02:56.140 I don't know what that would be.
00:02:57.520 That's a pretty good story.
00:03:00.240 That's very different from I didn't do anything about health care.
00:03:03.600 It's very different.
00:03:07.360 So, that's good news.
00:03:09.180 Let's talk about Bubba Wallace, of course.
00:03:11.840 Of course.
00:03:14.780 So, we learned yesterday that the FBI looked into the issue of the noose
00:03:20.120 hanging in African-American driver Bubba Wallace's garage bay.
00:03:26.440 And the initial story was that some racist
00:03:30.720 put that noose there as a racist sign
00:03:34.900 to the most famous, I think, African-American NASCAR driver.
00:03:40.580 But here's the thing we just learned.
00:03:42.900 First of all, the noose had been there for months
00:03:44.980 before any of the garage bays had been assigned.
00:03:49.220 So, the FBI has concluded with certainty
00:03:53.080 that it was not any kind of a racist act
00:03:57.440 against Bubba Wallace.
00:03:59.900 It is a noose, or at least it's shaped like a noose,
00:04:03.300 but it's the rope that hangs down
00:04:05.300 that you pull the garage door closed with.
00:04:08.440 So, yeah, it's a noose,
00:04:11.360 but it was put there for a purpose.
00:04:14.100 Now, I have something to tell my black audience today.
00:04:21.860 Here's something you might not know about white people.
00:04:25.860 When we see a noose,
00:04:28.120 we don't think race.
00:04:31.820 When I see a noose,
00:04:33.760 I think of Clint Eastwood in Hang of High.
00:04:36.580 I almost always think of some kind of old Western
00:04:40.080 where bad white people are being hung.
00:04:45.500 So, if you would say,
00:04:48.820 and I think maybe Bubba Wallace might be wondering this,
00:04:51.820 because as he said after he learned
00:04:53.440 that it wasn't directed to him,
00:04:55.120 and he agrees,
00:04:56.540 he said, but it's still a noose.
00:04:58.640 I mean, it's still straight up,
00:05:00.620 it's a noose.
00:05:02.400 And I would only add to this,
00:05:04.660 that's probably exactly what it was.
00:05:07.660 Meaning that whoever tied it thought,
00:05:09.700 oh, I could tie it in a variety of ways,
00:05:13.180 I'll tie it in a noose.
00:05:14.940 But the thing you have to know
00:05:16.380 is that I don't think any white person
00:05:18.600 tying a rope into a noose,
00:05:21.960 it even crosses their mind
00:05:23.480 that there's any kind of a racial element to that act.
00:05:27.600 It just doesn't seem racial.
00:05:29.240 It literally seems like an old Western
00:05:30.960 where old white guys are getting hung.
00:05:33.140 We just don't connect the dots
00:05:35.760 the way the African American community would.
00:05:38.060 Now, maybe we should.
00:05:40.020 You know, that's a different question.
00:05:41.720 I'm just saying we don't.
00:05:43.920 Have I personally ever tied ropes
00:05:46.620 into nooses?
00:05:50.560 Yes.
00:05:52.660 Yes, I have.
00:05:53.980 I have.
00:05:54.840 I've spent quite a bit of my time
00:05:56.800 as a, you know,
00:05:58.420 a young kid, teenager,
00:06:00.220 when I was like in, you know,
00:06:01.860 tying ropes and, you know,
00:06:03.000 you'd just be practicing
00:06:04.260 different knots and stuff.
00:06:05.980 And you're a 12-year-old kid,
00:06:07.560 of course you're going to try to make a noose.
00:06:10.560 You know, of course I learned
00:06:11.760 how to do it properly.
00:06:12.700 Because it was just something
00:06:15.560 we saw on TV all the time.
00:06:16.980 Again, having nothing to do with race
00:06:18.560 because it was always, you know,
00:06:20.480 bad criminal white people
00:06:21.980 were being hung on TV.
00:06:26.600 So, here's what I'd say.
00:06:28.920 First of all,
00:06:29.700 Bubba Wallace is completely cleared,
00:06:32.340 in my opinion,
00:06:33.340 from having done anything wrong
00:06:35.200 or even being wrong.
00:06:36.860 Because it turns out
00:06:39.060 he never saw the noose.
00:06:41.020 It was reported to him
00:06:42.160 by Steve Phelps,
00:06:45.100 who's the NASCAR president,
00:06:46.840 who came to him crying.
00:06:49.460 And I assume,
00:06:51.160 I'm just going to assume
00:06:52.220 that the president of NASCAR
00:06:53.640 is a white guy.
00:06:54.740 So the white guy comes to Bubba
00:06:56.360 and says,
00:06:56.640 I've got to talk to you in person.
00:06:58.020 And he's the president of NASCAR
00:06:59.640 and he's crying.
00:07:00.480 He's so disturbed.
00:07:01.940 Like, genuinely disturbed.
00:07:03.820 And he tells him about this rope
00:07:05.620 that looked like a noose,
00:07:07.920 et cetera.
00:07:08.620 So Bubba Wallace never saw it.
00:07:11.160 He was taking it from somebody
00:07:13.080 who thought he had interpreted it correctly.
00:07:17.120 So I see nothing in this story
00:07:19.740 which we should hold against Bubba Wallace.
00:07:22.400 Everybody on board with that?
00:07:24.640 Bubba Wallace gets a free,
00:07:26.640 absolute free pass
00:07:27.960 because he was acting on what he was told
00:07:30.400 by a very credible source
00:07:32.360 that just turned out to be wrong.
00:07:34.420 But it was a credible source.
00:07:36.680 You can't hold it against him
00:07:38.220 for believing a credible source.
00:07:40.960 You can't hold it against him
00:07:42.400 for buying into a,
00:07:44.380 let's say,
00:07:45.180 a narrative
00:07:45.640 that is suggested by current events
00:07:48.620 because you know everybody
00:07:49.500 is thinking in race terms.
00:07:51.580 It wouldn't be a surprise.
00:07:53.600 Would you be surprised one bit
00:07:55.640 if some racist somewhere
00:07:57.920 did a racist thing in public
00:08:00.960 or to some public figure?
00:08:02.840 No, it wouldn't surprise you at all
00:08:05.060 because the temperature
00:08:06.960 of the country
00:08:07.460 has been turned up so much.
00:08:09.080 So Bubba Wallace,
00:08:10.280 you get an A-plus
00:08:11.820 for having nothing wrong.
00:08:15.880 You didn't do anything wrong
00:08:16.700 in this case.
00:08:18.280 In fact,
00:08:19.740 but I'll give him
00:08:21.140 one piece of advice.
00:08:23.180 The way Bubba
00:08:24.700 seems to be treating this
00:08:26.180 is that
00:08:27.880 he knows he's going to be mocked
00:08:30.700 for a hoax.
00:08:33.360 Although the hoax
00:08:34.280 was not his doing
00:08:35.320 and certainly not his intention.
00:08:37.100 But he knows
00:08:37.620 he'll be mocked for it
00:08:38.640 and his approach,
00:08:40.440 at least his initial approach,
00:08:42.280 was to,
00:08:43.300 you know,
00:08:43.620 act like
00:08:44.200 it doesn't bother him
00:08:45.280 and channel that energy
00:08:47.160 into his competitiveness.
00:08:48.740 Now that's a good TV answer.
00:08:51.620 You know,
00:08:51.780 I'm not going to let it bother me.
00:08:52.900 I'll put it into my sport.
00:08:54.740 Sounds good.
00:08:55.680 I mean,
00:08:55.940 you like your athletes
00:08:56.860 to say stuff like that.
00:08:58.600 But let me give him
00:08:59.680 some advice.
00:09:01.440 This is the way
00:09:02.200 I'd go with this.
00:09:04.200 I would say,
00:09:06.060 totally my bad.
00:09:09.220 So that's the first thing
00:09:10.120 you should do.
00:09:11.380 You should do,
00:09:12.260 you know,
00:09:12.980 it was my bad
00:09:14.880 even though I had
00:09:15.720 information that led me
00:09:17.280 to this conclusion.
00:09:18.500 I accept full responsibility.
00:09:20.380 That's number one.
00:09:21.720 And then here's the,
00:09:22.380 here's what he,
00:09:23.380 I would recommend
00:09:24.220 if I were advising him
00:09:25.500 for public relations.
00:09:27.300 I'd say,
00:09:28.180 let's look on the positive side.
00:09:30.420 Look what happened.
00:09:32.520 Seriously.
00:09:33.600 Look what happened.
00:09:35.060 He had immediate,
00:09:37.040 complete support
00:09:38.040 from everybody in NASCAR.
00:09:41.300 And I would say
00:09:42.280 that the country
00:09:42.900 was completely behind him.
00:09:44.320 And I don't think
00:09:44.920 there was much
00:09:45.440 in the way of
00:09:46.260 racial division.
00:09:48.680 There were lots of people
00:09:49.460 who thought the story
00:09:50.320 was fake
00:09:50.980 from the jump,
00:09:52.520 including me.
00:09:54.380 But we didn't really hold it.
00:09:56.340 You know,
00:09:56.660 we didn't have a,
00:09:58.080 we didn't have
00:09:58.920 a racial opinion
00:10:00.280 about that exactly.
00:10:01.580 We're sort of waiting
00:10:02.240 for the,
00:10:02.920 waiting for the information
00:10:04.080 to come out.
00:10:04.660 We knew there was
00:10:05.080 something wrong,
00:10:06.220 but it didn't feel
00:10:06.940 necessarily like a racist thing.
00:10:08.800 Maybe more like a mistake.
00:10:10.120 Like the Oakland
00:10:11.980 alleged nooses
00:10:13.360 turned out to be
00:10:14.120 just exercise equipment
00:10:15.380 put there
00:10:16.280 by an African-American man.
00:10:19.720 So,
00:10:21.120 somebody says
00:10:23.460 he saw a picture of it.
00:10:24.680 He did see a picture
00:10:25.460 of it eventually,
00:10:26.660 but I don't know
00:10:27.340 if he saw a picture
00:10:28.060 of it at the time.
00:10:29.360 And I know we didn't
00:10:30.120 get a picture of it,
00:10:31.340 so there's that.
00:10:33.060 Anyway,
00:10:33.360 so here's the point.
00:10:34.000 I think he should
00:10:36.080 look at the positive,
00:10:37.780 which is that
00:10:38.660 the way people reacted
00:10:40.040 was the way
00:10:40.940 you would want people
00:10:41.840 to react
00:10:42.480 if it had been real.
00:10:46.760 So,
00:10:47.380 I think his response was,
00:10:50.060 you know,
00:10:51.100 could have been better,
00:10:52.040 but he wasn't being advised
00:10:53.220 by a public relations person,
00:10:54.820 so he was just
00:10:56.020 being a real person.
00:10:57.160 Do not hold that
00:10:58.720 against him.
00:11:00.940 You think he
00:11:02.140 or they will apologize?
00:11:03.440 No, I don't.
00:11:04.980 No, no, no, no.
00:11:05.700 I'm not saying
00:11:06.280 that I think
00:11:07.320 they will apologize.
00:11:09.800 I'm telling you
00:11:10.580 the way I would handle it
00:11:11.840 if I wanted to come out of this
00:11:13.680 with the best reputation
00:11:14.820 is I would go right at it directly.
00:11:17.280 Totally wrong.
00:11:18.500 I was totally wrong,
00:11:19.860 but
00:11:20.080 look at the reaction.
00:11:22.420 I mean,
00:11:22.620 you're missing,
00:11:23.500 you're bearing the lead.
00:11:25.220 You know,
00:11:25.440 the small part of the story
00:11:26.500 is that I was wrong.
00:11:28.240 That's the small part
00:11:29.220 of the story.
00:11:29.680 The big part of the story,
00:11:31.300 look how well
00:11:32.260 people reacted to that.
00:11:34.440 That's how I would have played it.
00:11:36.860 All right.
00:11:39.980 And by the way,
00:11:40.780 I do think it was a noose
00:11:42.440 and I do think
00:11:43.480 it was tied
00:11:44.160 to resemble a noose.
00:11:45.720 But like I say,
00:11:46.640 it was probably just
00:11:47.280 done by somebody
00:11:48.140 who was
00:11:48.440 just tying knots.
00:11:52.040 Did I hear that
00:11:52.860 one of the three
00:11:53.480 presidential debates
00:11:54.480 has been canceled already
00:11:55.720 because of
00:11:56.520 coronavirus?
00:11:57.460 And I ask you,
00:11:59.780 is there any chance
00:12:01.280 there will be
00:12:01.720 any presidential debates?
00:12:04.040 What do you think?
00:12:05.880 Because the first one's canceled
00:12:07.460 and sure,
00:12:08.240 that could be actually
00:12:09.220 just legitimate
00:12:10.000 health concerns.
00:12:11.440 I mean,
00:12:11.760 why wouldn't there be?
00:12:13.100 You know,
00:12:13.360 it'd be weird
00:12:14.360 if you didn't have
00:12:15.960 health concerns
00:12:16.580 about that.
00:12:17.520 But don't you think
00:12:18.580 all three are going
00:12:19.260 to get canceled
00:12:19.920 because
00:12:21.200 the Biden team
00:12:22.820 really needs them
00:12:23.580 to get canceled?
00:12:24.200 Am I wrong
00:12:26.400 that if Joe Biden
00:12:27.580 goes into a debate
00:12:28.500 it's going to be
00:12:30.120 a bad situation
00:12:31.440 for him?
00:12:32.600 I think they have to
00:12:34.440 at least extend
00:12:35.680 the scare
00:12:36.360 long enough
00:12:38.480 to make the debates
00:12:39.340 not happen.
00:12:40.560 That's got to be
00:12:41.400 the key
00:12:42.100 trajectory
00:12:44.160 for,
00:12:44.940 or at least
00:12:45.420 the key strategy
00:12:46.400 for victory
00:12:47.060 for Biden.
00:12:48.120 Did you happen
00:12:49.080 to see
00:12:49.540 the god-awful
00:12:50.840 campaign ad
00:12:52.560 that Biden
00:12:53.380 just put out?
00:12:54.200 in which he's
00:12:54.780 sitting
00:12:55.100 in this
00:12:56.120 looks like
00:12:58.040 he's behind
00:12:58.740 some kind
00:12:59.380 of business
00:12:59.860 and like
00:13:00.480 an alley-like
00:13:01.560 place
00:13:02.580 where maybe
00:13:03.080 there's some
00:13:03.580 tables that
00:13:04.280 perhaps the
00:13:04.840 employees
00:13:05.440 smoke cigarettes
00:13:06.780 at when
00:13:07.620 they're not
00:13:07.960 working.
00:13:08.760 It didn't even
00:13:09.600 look like it
00:13:10.080 was a commercial
00:13:10.680 place.
00:13:11.200 It looked like
00:13:11.920 he was in a
00:13:12.340 back alley
00:13:12.880 with like
00:13:13.960 six people
00:13:14.640 with masks
00:13:15.340 and he had
00:13:15.820 his mask
00:13:16.260 on wrong
00:13:16.780 and he's
00:13:17.200 falling asleep
00:13:18.180 in his chair
00:13:18.760 and saying
00:13:20.860 a few generic
00:13:21.500 things.
00:13:22.680 And I thought
00:13:23.460 to myself
00:13:23.960 compare that
00:13:25.840 because you
00:13:26.800 know there
00:13:27.060 were advisors
00:13:27.760 right?
00:13:28.480 This is a
00:13:29.160 video that
00:13:29.600 they chose
00:13:30.300 to release.
00:13:32.120 They filmed
00:13:33.360 this.
00:13:33.980 The Biden
00:13:34.300 campaign
00:13:35.340 itself
00:13:35.960 filmed it
00:13:36.760 and they
00:13:38.160 chose to
00:13:38.820 release it.
00:13:39.740 Now when you
00:13:40.260 see it
00:13:40.640 you're going
00:13:40.960 to say
00:13:41.160 to yourself
00:13:41.620 are you
00:13:42.920 telling me
00:13:43.460 that professional
00:13:44.700 campaign
00:13:47.140 advisors
00:13:47.980 thought it
00:13:49.840 was a good
00:13:50.200 idea to
00:13:50.680 do it
00:13:51.100 there
00:13:51.320 the way
00:13:51.940 it was
00:13:52.160 done
00:13:52.420 with
00:13:52.640 just
00:13:52.820 this
00:13:53.000 sparse
00:13:53.400 crowd
00:13:53.860 and
00:13:54.100 this
00:13:54.260 dingy
00:13:54.900 terrible
00:13:56.560 optics.
00:13:58.820 Somebody
00:13:59.100 thought it
00:13:59.400 was a good
00:13:59.620 idea in the
00:13:59.980 first place
00:14:00.380 then they
00:14:00.760 filmed it
00:14:01.320 and then
00:14:02.280 after they
00:14:02.940 saw it
00:14:03.580 they still
00:14:04.780 thought it
00:14:05.120 was a good
00:14:05.480 idea to
00:14:05.860 make a
00:14:06.180 commercial
00:14:06.520 out of it.
00:14:08.220 Does that
00:14:08.620 feeling not
00:14:10.360 right?
00:14:11.440 Now compare
00:14:11.940 that if you
00:14:12.520 will to
00:14:13.440 what I told
00:14:13.960 you in the
00:14:14.580 past month
00:14:15.620 or so
00:14:16.000 Kamala
00:14:16.520 Harris
00:14:16.920 seems to
00:14:18.120 have improved
00:14:18.880 her messaging
00:14:19.740 and communication
00:14:20.740 game
00:14:21.220 extraordinarily
00:14:22.340 which is
00:14:24.120 a strong
00:14:25.020 tell for
00:14:26.180 some kind
00:14:26.780 of a world
00:14:27.440 class
00:14:28.020 advisor
00:14:28.760 or more
00:14:29.900 working with
00:14:31.280 her
00:14:31.480 because you
00:14:32.520 can see the
00:14:33.080 transformation
00:14:33.560 and you
00:14:34.160 don't get
00:14:34.600 that from
00:14:35.020 your sister
00:14:35.560 giving you
00:14:36.060 advice.
00:14:37.540 Whatever
00:14:37.900 happened with
00:14:38.700 Kamala
00:14:39.080 Harris
00:14:39.480 that's not
00:14:40.840 from you
00:14:41.480 know your
00:14:42.200 friend gave
00:14:42.760 you some
00:14:43.100 tips.
00:14:44.240 That's from
00:14:45.160 somebody
00:14:45.820 operating at
00:14:46.460 the highest
00:14:46.940 level who's
00:14:48.440 helping her
00:14:49.480 transform and
00:14:50.740 she's succeeding.
00:14:52.160 Now I had
00:14:53.320 predicted years
00:14:55.120 ago when
00:14:55.740 people said
00:14:56.200 no she's not
00:14:56.920 good enough
00:14:57.380 I said just
00:14:58.800 watch.
00:14:59.880 Watch what
00:15:00.360 happens when
00:15:00.900 you get close
00:15:01.440 to election
00:15:01.920 time and
00:15:02.420 watch her
00:15:02.800 transform because
00:15:04.340 I believe that
00:15:05.740 she could learn
00:15:08.280 skills quickly.
00:15:10.480 That seems to
00:15:11.140 be an indication
00:15:11.800 that she can
00:15:12.440 and I think
00:15:13.160 she did.
00:15:14.020 So here's
00:15:14.380 what we have.
00:15:14.900 we have
00:15:15.340 allegedly
00:15:16.660 the world
00:15:18.100 class
00:15:18.580 advisors for
00:15:19.860 Biden doing
00:15:20.540 the worst
00:15:21.080 job I've
00:15:21.660 ever seen
00:15:22.180 of campaign
00:15:23.260 advisors.
00:15:24.140 So bad
00:15:25.340 that it
00:15:26.860 almost
00:15:27.540 looks
00:15:29.080 intentional.
00:15:31.460 At the
00:15:32.200 same time
00:15:32.740 his
00:15:34.240 presumed
00:15:35.260 but not
00:15:35.820 confirmed
00:15:36.400 could
00:15:36.900 change.
00:15:38.100 But presumably
00:15:39.040 the vice
00:15:39.540 presidential pick
00:15:40.460 who many of
00:15:41.540 us believe
00:15:42.000 would be the
00:15:42.580 real shadow
00:15:43.420 president
00:15:43.900 is getting
00:15:45.580 the best
00:15:46.140 advice
00:15:46.760 you've ever
00:15:47.700 seen.
00:15:49.580 Is that a
00:15:50.280 coincidence?
00:15:51.360 That all the
00:15:51.900 good advice
00:15:52.480 is going to
00:15:53.040 the number
00:15:53.420 two spot?
00:15:55.240 Now it's
00:15:55.840 possible that
00:15:56.460 Biden just
00:15:56.980 doesn't take
00:15:57.540 advice.
00:15:58.860 We don't know
00:15:59.560 what's happening
00:15:59.980 behind the
00:16:00.480 scenes.
00:16:00.740 but if you
00:16:02.620 are looking
00:16:03.020 for a
00:16:03.420 scenario in
00:16:04.140 which the
00:16:04.500 number
00:16:04.780 two pick
00:16:05.420 which I'm
00:16:06.400 still guessing
00:16:07.000 will be
00:16:07.440 Kamala Harris
00:16:08.180 becomes in
00:16:09.780 voters minds
00:16:10.600 the real
00:16:11.060 number one
00:16:11.700 pick.
00:16:12.560 This is
00:16:13.320 maybe what
00:16:14.180 it would
00:16:14.380 look like.
00:16:15.480 It would
00:16:15.800 look like the
00:16:16.320 number two
00:16:16.820 pick is getting
00:16:17.400 all the good
00:16:17.900 advice.
00:16:18.500 The number
00:16:18.780 one pick
00:16:19.340 is just
00:16:20.120 sort of
00:16:20.520 being pushed
00:16:21.160 out there.
00:16:21.620 So that's
00:16:25.420 a little
00:16:25.660 foreshadowing.
00:16:28.740 There's
00:16:29.340 something
00:16:29.680 happening
00:16:30.180 with free
00:16:31.000 speech which
00:16:33.320 is a fair
00:16:34.760 statement which
00:16:35.460 you would all
00:16:35.940 agree with but
00:16:37.120 maybe not you
00:16:38.020 might not be
00:16:38.560 seeing what I'm
00:16:39.260 seeing.
00:16:40.680 So first
00:16:41.740 there's the
00:16:42.220 surface obvious
00:16:43.180 thing that
00:16:44.420 free speech is
00:16:45.200 being diminished
00:16:45.960 because well
00:16:48.340 let me give you
00:16:48.920 an example.
00:16:49.480 So Carpe
00:16:49.940 Donctum got
00:16:50.720 permanently
00:16:51.300 banned from
00:16:52.560 Twitter yesterday.
00:16:55.120 Permanently
00:16:55.760 banned.
00:16:57.140 Now Carpe
00:16:58.140 Donctum does
00:16:58.840 the memes that
00:16:59.600 President Trump
00:17:00.300 likes to
00:17:01.320 tweet so
00:17:02.980 he's very
00:17:04.140 strong in
00:17:04.900 terms of
00:17:05.380 messaging for
00:17:06.360 the Republican
00:17:07.380 side and
00:17:09.260 he just got
00:17:10.400 taken off the
00:17:11.080 board a few
00:17:12.080 months before
00:17:12.620 the election.
00:17:14.300 Now is
00:17:15.640 that a
00:17:16.340 coincidence?
00:17:17.900 Is it a
00:17:18.600 coincidence that
00:17:19.300 he's been
00:17:19.620 operating for
00:17:20.280 years?
00:17:21.300 But when we
00:17:21.880 get close to
00:17:22.880 the summer
00:17:23.460 before the
00:17:23.980 election that
00:17:25.100 he gets taken
00:17:25.680 off the
00:17:26.080 board?
00:17:27.380 Because he's
00:17:28.020 not the only
00:17:28.460 person being
00:17:28.960 taken off the
00:17:29.600 board, right?
00:17:30.680 You're seeing
00:17:31.340 some other
00:17:31.720 people getting
00:17:32.220 picked off.
00:17:34.640 Probably not a
00:17:35.480 coincidence.
00:17:36.360 Now I don't
00:17:37.060 know about the
00:17:37.640 details of why.
00:17:38.680 I think it had
00:17:39.280 to do with the
00:17:39.880 racist baby
00:17:41.200 meme that got
00:17:43.460 taken down.
00:17:44.200 The President
00:17:44.560 tweeted it.
00:17:45.260 It alleged to
00:17:46.440 show a racist
00:17:47.220 white baby
00:17:48.700 chasing a
00:17:49.180 black one.
00:17:50.140 But then you
00:17:50.580 see it in its
00:17:51.220 fullness and
00:17:52.300 you can see
00:17:52.680 that they're
00:17:53.000 best friends
00:17:53.540 and hugging
00:17:53.940 each other.
00:17:55.260 So there
00:17:56.260 was something
00:17:56.580 like a DMCA
00:17:57.840 violation.
00:17:59.520 In other
00:17:59.800 words, the
00:18:00.300 original video
00:18:01.120 was copyrighted.
00:18:03.920 But it's a
00:18:05.140 parody.
00:18:06.240 It's an
00:18:06.680 obvious parody.
00:18:07.460 And with
00:18:08.820 an obvious
00:18:09.400 parody, usually
00:18:10.920 the worst
00:18:11.460 you'd expect
00:18:12.160 is maybe
00:18:13.600 the tweet
00:18:14.100 would have
00:18:14.440 to be taken
00:18:14.940 down.
00:18:16.980 Maybe the
00:18:18.000 tweet would
00:18:18.400 have to be
00:18:18.840 taken down
00:18:19.420 and that's
00:18:20.060 it.
00:18:22.420 So it
00:18:23.020 seems like
00:18:23.420 there's
00:18:23.620 something a
00:18:24.040 little extreme.
00:18:26.220 Also, Slate
00:18:27.260 Star Codex
00:18:28.140 got taken
00:18:28.660 out by the
00:18:29.260 New York
00:18:29.540 Times.
00:18:30.780 So Slate
00:18:31.360 Star Codex
00:18:32.560 is a very
00:18:33.320 influential blog.
00:18:35.500 Not political,
00:18:36.480 but it may
00:18:37.580 have had some
00:18:38.080 content that
00:18:38.800 somebody didn't
00:18:39.400 like, possibly.
00:18:41.320 I don't know,
00:18:42.160 maybe he talked
00:18:42.640 about TDS or
00:18:43.500 something.
00:18:44.540 So that got
00:18:45.340 taken down.
00:18:46.120 He got doxed
00:18:47.000 and he took
00:18:47.480 it down himself,
00:18:48.340 basically.
00:18:48.960 So he deleted
00:18:49.560 it.
00:18:51.060 The pseudonominus,
00:18:54.640 what's the word?
00:18:56.640 The blogger who
00:18:57.960 does not use his
00:18:58.740 real name, took
00:18:59.980 down his own
00:19:00.520 blog when the
00:19:01.600 New York
00:19:02.200 Times decided to
00:19:03.240 dox him for
00:19:04.260 no good reason.
00:19:04.920 All right, so
00:19:06.780 that's happening.
00:19:08.040 So you know
00:19:08.480 that, and you
00:19:09.240 know that if
00:19:10.100 you say anything
00:19:10.780 that somebody
00:19:11.320 thinks is a
00:19:11.900 racist dog
00:19:12.920 whistle, even
00:19:13.580 if it isn't,
00:19:14.880 that you'll be
00:19:16.520 canceled.
00:19:17.580 So that's the
00:19:18.540 part you know.
00:19:19.360 You know that
00:19:20.040 people are being
00:19:20.780 canceled and
00:19:22.040 muffled and
00:19:22.640 muted in a
00:19:23.600 variety of
00:19:24.140 ways.
00:19:24.760 But here's the
00:19:25.420 part that I'm
00:19:26.140 seeing.
00:19:27.200 It has something
00:19:27.900 to do with that.
00:19:28.780 It has something
00:19:29.240 to do with the
00:19:29.880 Black Lives Matter
00:19:30.760 stuff.
00:19:31.760 for some
00:19:33.460 people, and I
00:19:35.020 seem to be one
00:19:35.780 of them, I
00:19:37.020 have increased
00:19:38.020 my free speech.
00:19:40.460 And I don't
00:19:41.180 think you saw
00:19:41.760 that coming.
00:19:43.060 For example, I'm
00:19:44.060 going to give you
00:19:44.440 an example of my
00:19:45.960 newly increased
00:19:47.060 free speech.
00:19:49.360 Black Lives Matter
00:19:50.440 is a racist
00:19:51.360 movement.
00:19:53.020 White privilege is
00:19:54.100 a racist
00:19:54.700 statement.
00:19:56.620 And reparations
00:19:58.000 is completely
00:19:58.620 racist.
00:19:59.160 Now, could I
00:20:01.200 have said that
00:20:01.660 a month ago?
00:20:03.180 Maybe, if I
00:20:04.260 really couched
00:20:05.140 it just carefully
00:20:06.180 and said it
00:20:07.820 just right and
00:20:09.440 all that.
00:20:10.540 But for some
00:20:11.380 reason, I can
00:20:11.940 say that now.
00:20:13.060 And I feel like I
00:20:13.840 couldn't say it a
00:20:14.420 few weeks ago.
00:20:16.660 The president
00:20:17.520 keeps calling
00:20:18.660 the coronavirus
00:20:19.840 Kung Flu.
00:20:21.960 Now, he of
00:20:22.860 course knows that
00:20:24.020 he's being called
00:20:24.740 a racist for
00:20:25.880 calling it Kung
00:20:26.580 Flu because
00:20:27.400 that's, you
00:20:28.420 know, suggestive
00:20:30.120 of Asian
00:20:30.800 culture, and
00:20:32.300 therefore, it's
00:20:33.100 racist.
00:20:34.100 Now, even
00:20:36.020 after he's told
00:20:36.920 that, he keeps
00:20:37.820 doing it.
00:20:39.280 It feels to me
00:20:40.520 that the president
00:20:41.340 is very consciously
00:20:42.760 making sure that
00:20:44.520 the field of what
00:20:45.660 free speech allows
00:20:46.880 doesn't diminish.
00:20:49.300 Now, I know his
00:20:49.920 critics are going
00:20:50.560 to say, no, no,
00:20:51.100 no, he's just
00:20:51.680 riling up the
00:20:52.760 crowd with racist
00:20:54.180 dog whistles.
00:20:55.060 That's all there
00:20:55.560 is to it.
00:20:59.100 We'll get rid
00:20:59.980 of the give-it-a-rest
00:21:00.820 dude fellow.
00:21:02.680 There you go.
00:21:04.360 Put you
00:21:04.740 out of your
00:21:04.940 misery.
00:21:06.260 Blocked.
00:21:09.060 And so, it
00:21:11.240 makes me wonder
00:21:12.280 if the
00:21:13.160 Republicans are
00:21:14.240 about to
00:21:15.220 discover a
00:21:16.520 new form of
00:21:17.660 free speech,
00:21:19.580 or at least
00:21:21.940 simply just
00:21:23.140 take it.
00:21:24.600 Just take
00:21:25.560 free speech,
00:21:26.540 and just do
00:21:27.140 it.
00:21:27.500 I watched a
00:21:28.020 speech by
00:21:28.600 Matt Gaetz.
00:21:31.100 I guess he
00:21:31.640 was probably
00:21:32.680 either speaking
00:21:33.880 before or after
00:21:34.480 the president
00:21:35.020 at the same
00:21:35.640 event last
00:21:36.320 night.
00:21:37.460 And Matt Gaetz
00:21:38.220 said directly
00:21:39.200 that white
00:21:40.300 privilege is a
00:21:41.540 racist strategy
00:21:43.180 to make white
00:21:44.320 people shut up
00:21:45.100 and do what
00:21:46.460 they're told.
00:21:47.700 And I thought
00:21:48.480 to myself, I
00:21:49.620 don't know if he
00:21:50.260 could have said
00:21:50.740 that a month
00:21:51.200 ago, could
00:21:52.420 he?
00:21:53.100 And did you
00:21:53.740 know, I
00:21:54.720 looked at the
00:21:55.680 homepages of
00:21:56.540 CNN and Fox
00:21:57.340 News, and I
00:21:58.300 don't even think
00:21:58.840 it's a headline.
00:22:00.640 Can you imagine
00:22:01.260 that?
00:22:02.180 There was a
00:22:03.040 prominent national
00:22:06.120 politician who
00:22:07.440 said in public
00:22:08.240 in a prepared
00:22:09.040 speech that
00:22:10.380 white privilege
00:22:11.520 is a racist
00:22:12.800 term that's
00:22:14.300 just being used
00:22:15.180 to manipulate
00:22:16.960 white people,
00:22:18.200 basically.
00:22:18.540 I don't think
00:22:20.880 he could have
00:22:21.260 said that a
00:22:21.680 month ago.
00:22:22.500 Am I wrong?
00:22:23.560 I'd like to see
00:22:24.100 in the comments
00:22:24.580 whether you
00:22:24.940 think something
00:22:25.500 is changing
00:22:26.300 and it's
00:22:27.340 changing in
00:22:27.840 both directions
00:22:28.540 at the same
00:22:29.180 time, which
00:22:30.580 is that some
00:22:31.220 people are
00:22:31.600 getting less
00:22:32.140 free speech
00:22:32.740 and being
00:22:33.040 canceled, while
00:22:34.340 there are other
00:22:34.760 people who are
00:22:35.260 saying, all
00:22:36.500 right, fuckers,
00:22:37.300 game on, which
00:22:39.360 is what I'm
00:22:39.840 saying.
00:22:40.640 I'm saying, okay,
00:22:42.380 bastards, game
00:22:44.040 on.
00:22:44.340 If you want
00:22:46.240 to bring more
00:22:47.080 attention to
00:22:47.760 me, just
00:22:49.740 bring it on.
00:22:52.280 Now, I think
00:22:53.520 that part of
00:22:54.540 the divide is
00:22:57.840 that what is
00:22:58.380 it that, if
00:22:59.540 you've been
00:22:59.900 watching Matt
00:23:00.440 Gates for a
00:23:00.900 while, what is
00:23:01.560 it that Matt
00:23:02.100 Gates and I
00:23:03.360 would have in
00:23:04.100 common?
00:23:05.180 I want to see
00:23:05.740 if you can pick
00:23:06.360 out what is
00:23:08.340 different about
00:23:10.060 the two of us
00:23:10.820 from other
00:23:12.360 situations.
00:23:13.000 Now, mostly
00:23:14.400 we have things
00:23:15.040 not in common,
00:23:15.820 I would guess.
00:23:16.620 Like if you
00:23:17.040 make a list,
00:23:18.460 here's the list
00:23:19.380 of all things
00:23:19.920 about Matt
00:23:20.440 Gates, here's
00:23:21.580 the list about
00:23:22.120 all things me.
00:23:23.660 It would be
00:23:24.040 mostly different.
00:23:25.240 But there's
00:23:25.640 one thing on
00:23:26.260 that list that
00:23:27.300 we're very
00:23:27.960 similar on that
00:23:30.340 would tell you
00:23:30.900 why we have a
00:23:31.680 little bit more
00:23:32.240 free speech, I
00:23:33.360 think, than
00:23:34.820 other people.
00:23:36.200 And I'm waiting
00:23:36.820 for the delay in
00:23:37.680 the comments to
00:23:38.320 see if anybody
00:23:38.860 gets it.
00:23:42.200 Here's what we
00:23:42.900 have in common.
00:23:45.680 We're unusually
00:23:46.760 good communicators.
00:23:49.280 Now, if you
00:23:50.260 are the side
00:23:50.900 who's trying to
00:23:51.640 silence the
00:23:52.380 other side, you
00:23:54.320 don't want to
00:23:54.820 give attention to
00:23:56.140 their best
00:23:56.660 communicators.
00:23:58.160 In other words,
00:23:58.800 if somebody goes
00:23:59.420 after Matt
00:24:00.000 Gates and says,
00:24:00.680 hey, Matt
00:24:01.180 Gates, you
00:24:02.460 said, and I
00:24:03.140 can't believe you
00:24:03.720 said this, that
00:24:05.020 white privilege is
00:24:05.820 actually a racist
00:24:06.760 statement, explain
00:24:09.780 yourself.
00:24:10.200 And then you
00:24:11.780 know what he
00:24:12.160 would do?
00:24:13.360 On national
00:24:14.360 television, he
00:24:16.040 would explain
00:24:16.700 himself so well
00:24:17.980 that whoever
00:24:19.240 thought they were
00:24:19.920 trying to trap
00:24:20.700 him would say,
00:24:21.800 oh, damn, that
00:24:23.360 didn't work.
00:24:24.460 That did not
00:24:25.520 work.
00:24:27.640 He would take
00:24:29.480 that accusation,
00:24:31.160 ball it up, and
00:24:32.460 shove it so far
00:24:33.420 back up their
00:24:34.040 asses that they
00:24:35.500 would never want
00:24:36.160 to talk to him
00:24:36.820 again.
00:24:37.160 Am I right?
00:24:38.740 If you've watched
00:24:39.380 him enough in
00:24:39.960 public, you know
00:24:41.160 that he's basically
00:24:42.140 untrappable on
00:24:43.680 camera.
00:24:44.600 His camera skills
00:24:45.940 are just unworldly.
00:24:48.240 I mean, I've
00:24:48.540 never seen, I
00:24:49.640 can't say I've
00:24:50.080 never seen anything
00:24:50.640 like it, but who
00:24:52.080 would you compare
00:24:52.900 his on-camera
00:24:55.080 verbal skills to?
00:24:58.300 I don't know.
00:25:00.100 I don't know.
00:25:00.960 It'd be tough.
00:25:03.020 He's kind of all
00:25:04.100 by himself at the
00:25:04.880 moment.
00:25:05.140 Now, I'm, for
00:25:08.500 different reasons,
00:25:10.140 you know, I don't
00:25:10.540 have the same type
00:25:11.800 of oratorical
00:25:15.100 skills that he
00:25:15.800 does, but I'm
00:25:16.920 also unusually
00:25:17.900 persuasive.
00:25:19.640 And if I get
00:25:21.140 mad, I'm not
00:25:21.880 going to back
00:25:22.300 down.
00:25:23.780 It's sort of
00:25:24.440 baked into my
00:25:25.320 personality.
00:25:25.940 I can't change
00:25:26.460 that.
00:25:28.020 So I would be
00:25:28.880 the worst person
00:25:29.960 to give attention
00:25:30.700 to.
00:25:31.480 And I think
00:25:32.220 that that might
00:25:33.180 be, you
00:25:34.640 know, why I
00:25:35.460 have a little
00:25:35.940 extra free
00:25:36.720 speech.
00:25:37.680 Maybe it'll
00:25:38.260 come back and
00:25:38.880 bite me in the
00:25:39.540 ass later.
00:25:40.620 So I think
00:25:41.900 you're going to
00:25:42.200 see some kind
00:25:42.740 of a bounce
00:25:43.320 back effect
00:25:44.040 where, you
00:25:46.460 know, the
00:25:46.880 president and
00:25:48.280 other prominent
00:25:48.920 people are going
00:25:49.540 to say, hey,
00:25:50.540 how about this?
00:25:52.820 How about we
00:25:53.620 say whatever the
00:25:54.420 fuck we want
00:25:55.340 and you just
00:25:56.660 shut up about
00:25:57.360 it and just
00:25:58.540 listen?
00:25:58.860 because we
00:26:00.740 gave you free
00:26:01.480 speech.
00:26:02.660 We listened
00:26:03.480 to you.
00:26:06.180 And let me
00:26:06.880 say, if I
00:26:08.780 had to
00:26:09.120 speculate about
00:26:10.880 why this is,
00:26:11.960 it would be
00:26:12.400 this.
00:26:13.740 What would
00:26:15.160 President Trump,
00:26:16.600 Matt Gaetz,
00:26:17.280 and I all
00:26:18.080 have in
00:26:18.420 common,
00:26:20.240 specifically on
00:26:21.340 the topic of
00:26:22.940 George Floyd's
00:26:24.240 tragic death?
00:26:26.720 The one thing
00:26:27.700 we all have in
00:26:28.280 common, and
00:26:29.020 pretty much
00:26:30.320 most of the
00:26:30.740 world, is
00:26:31.820 that we all
00:26:32.100 have the same
00:26:32.540 reaction to it,
00:26:33.220 like, this is
00:26:33.740 horrible, this
00:26:34.500 looks like a
00:26:35.660 crime, you
00:26:37.020 know, we
00:26:37.280 can't have
00:26:37.700 this in our
00:26:38.520 country.
00:26:40.020 So I
00:26:41.820 think it
00:26:42.200 helped that
00:26:43.360 so many
00:26:43.840 people were
00:26:44.520 at least
00:26:45.140 mentally on
00:26:47.880 the same
00:26:48.280 side with
00:26:49.360 the people
00:26:50.040 who would
00:26:50.280 normally be
00:26:50.840 our critics,
00:26:52.240 if you
00:26:52.860 imagined it
00:26:53.400 as a
00:26:53.740 political
00:26:54.100 take sides.
00:26:54.700 why is
00:26:58.200 everybody
00:26:58.520 saying
00:26:58.940 Flynn?
00:27:01.640 Flynn got
00:27:02.320 the writ
00:27:02.780 of
00:27:03.140 mandamus.
00:27:04.360 Well, I
00:27:04.940 don't know
00:27:05.200 what that
00:27:05.540 is, but
00:27:06.480 it sounds
00:27:06.980 like something
00:27:07.460 I need to
00:27:07.920 look up
00:27:08.300 right now.
00:27:10.280 Fox News
00:27:10.980 would have
00:27:11.320 this, right?
00:27:12.840 Not yet.
00:27:15.040 I guess it
00:27:15.740 takes them a
00:27:16.200 while to write
00:27:16.700 that up.
00:27:17.100 Let's say
00:27:17.640 Flynn News.
00:27:20.440 Let's see
00:27:22.620 some Flynn
00:27:23.060 News.
00:27:25.140 Dismiss
00:27:25.680 criminal
00:27:26.080 case
00:27:26.640 against
00:27:27.520 Michael
00:27:28.120 Flynn.
00:27:28.880 Appeals
00:27:29.400 court
00:27:29.800 orders
00:27:33.460 judge to
00:27:34.160 dismiss
00:27:34.660 criminal
00:27:35.200 case
00:27:35.780 against
00:27:37.280 Michael
00:27:37.660 Flynn.
00:27:39.720 The
00:27:40.120 decision
00:27:40.480 blocks
00:27:40.820 Sullivan
00:27:42.780 from holding
00:27:43.460 a hearing
00:27:43.900 to scrutinize
00:27:44.760 the Justice
00:27:45.280 Department's
00:27:46.020 decision.
00:27:46.520 Well, thank
00:27:47.000 you.
00:27:47.660 Why in
00:27:48.080 the world
00:27:48.400 was
00:27:48.780 Justice
00:27:49.880 Sullivan
00:27:50.580 forming a
00:27:51.820 new form
00:27:52.280 of government
00:27:52.860 to look
00:27:53.440 at his
00:27:53.720 own
00:27:53.900 decisions?
00:27:54.560 That never
00:27:54.880 made sense.
00:27:55.740 So the
00:27:55.960 judge has
00:27:57.460 blocked
00:27:57.740 that.
00:28:02.040 All right.
00:28:02.720 Do I
00:28:02.940 understand
00:28:03.300 what this
00:28:03.660 means,
00:28:04.040 though?
00:28:04.740 It blocks
00:28:05.120 you from
00:28:06.040 to dismiss
00:28:07.420 the criminal
00:28:07.940 case.
00:28:09.440 Does
00:28:09.960 dismiss
00:28:10.400 the criminal
00:28:10.860 case mean
00:28:11.360 it's all
00:28:11.740 gone?
00:28:13.160 Is that
00:28:13.460 what's
00:28:13.660 happening?
00:28:14.720 Is the
00:28:15.400 case
00:28:15.680 completely
00:28:16.180 dismissed
00:28:16.640 now?
00:28:17.980 Well,
00:28:18.780 let's
00:28:19.900 say it
00:28:20.240 is.
00:28:21.360 Let's
00:28:21.680 say it
00:28:21.900 is.
00:28:23.320 Let's
00:28:23.880 say that
00:28:24.340 the
00:28:24.520 General
00:28:24.840 Flynn
00:28:25.320 case
00:28:26.180 is
00:28:26.400 dismissed.
00:28:27.900 Does
00:28:28.460 that
00:28:28.620 call
00:28:28.880 for a
00:28:29.220 simultaneous
00:28:29.680 sip?
00:28:30.940 Do
00:28:31.360 any
00:28:31.620 of you
00:28:31.900 have
00:28:32.120 any
00:28:32.320 beverage
00:28:32.720 left
00:28:33.200 in
00:28:34.100 your
00:28:34.280 vessel?
00:28:36.000 Grab
00:28:36.420 it.
00:28:37.400 Grab
00:28:37.880 it.
00:28:39.120 Get
00:28:39.440 your
00:28:39.640 cup,
00:28:40.320 your
00:28:40.480 mug,
00:28:41.380 your
00:28:41.600 vessel.
00:28:42.820 This
00:28:43.280 will
00:28:43.520 be
00:28:43.700 a
00:28:43.860 rare
00:28:44.120 secondary
00:28:45.960 simultaneous
00:28:46.960 sip.
00:28:47.460 this
00:28:48.360 one to
00:28:48.700 General
00:28:49.060 Flynn
00:28:49.380 and all
00:28:51.300 the people
00:28:51.780 who fought
00:28:52.640 for him,
00:28:53.580 all the
00:28:53.980 people who
00:28:54.800 advocated
00:28:55.380 for him.
00:28:57.200 Justice.
00:28:59.040 Drink.
00:29:05.360 Damn.
00:29:06.840 That feels
00:29:07.480 good.
00:29:09.140 That feels
00:29:10.080 good.
00:29:10.660 Somebody
00:29:10.960 says
00:29:11.320 Carpe
00:29:11.700 Donctum,
00:29:12.300 who got
00:29:12.720 banned from
00:29:13.260 Twitter,
00:29:13.680 should join
00:29:14.180 locals.
00:29:14.700 He is
00:29:16.140 on
00:29:16.320 locals.
00:29:17.160 So I'm
00:29:17.860 on the
00:29:18.360 locals
00:29:18.740 platform,
00:29:19.620 which also
00:29:20.000 helps me
00:29:20.560 to be a
00:29:20.940 little bit
00:29:21.260 less
00:29:21.520 cancelable
00:29:22.220 because I
00:29:22.800 have a
00:29:23.260 second
00:29:23.460 place to
00:29:23.920 go.
00:29:24.860 It's a
00:29:25.200 subscription
00:29:25.740 service.
00:29:27.960 I hope
00:29:28.540 to be
00:29:28.840 talking to
00:29:29.480 Carpe
00:29:29.840 soon about
00:29:31.600 his
00:29:32.040 account on
00:29:33.320 locals.
00:29:33.720 and we'll
00:29:39.620 make a
00:29:40.180 little bit
00:29:40.480 more noise
00:29:41.060 about that.
00:29:42.000 So you
00:29:42.500 can see the
00:29:42.980 importance of
00:29:43.740 having a
00:29:45.120 platform for
00:29:46.900 people who
00:29:47.380 get deplatformed
00:29:48.660 other places.
00:29:50.060 All right,
00:29:50.400 well, gosh,
00:29:51.780 that General
00:29:52.180 Flynn stuff,
00:29:54.720 how do the
00:29:57.220 Democrats
00:29:57.560 process that?
00:29:59.340 If you're a
00:29:59.840 Democrat and
00:30:00.440 you're looking
00:30:00.760 at General
00:30:01.260 Flynn,
00:30:01.600 the case
00:30:03.760 just got
00:30:04.240 dropped
00:30:04.880 for being
00:30:06.000 a complete
00:30:06.620 fabrication
00:30:07.360 and it's
00:30:08.300 obvious it's
00:30:08.840 all part of
00:30:09.260 the coup.
00:30:11.280 How do
00:30:11.880 Democrats
00:30:13.160 process that?
00:30:14.140 I just
00:30:14.420 don't know.
00:30:17.840 All right,
00:30:19.160 here's some
00:30:19.960 other things
00:30:20.340 going on.
00:30:22.300 Did you
00:30:23.040 watch the
00:30:23.620 Project
00:30:24.340 Veritas
00:30:25.020 undercover
00:30:26.600 tape of
00:30:27.400 Facebook
00:30:27.980 employees
00:30:28.980 admitting
00:30:30.020 perfectly
00:30:31.540 candidly
00:30:32.420 and freely
00:30:33.260 that they
00:30:34.300 do
00:30:34.680 illegally,
00:30:36.700 meaning
00:30:37.000 not
00:30:37.600 compatible
00:30:39.520 with
00:30:39.940 company
00:30:40.340 standards,
00:30:41.220 that they
00:30:41.720 violate
00:30:42.120 their own
00:30:42.540 company
00:30:42.860 standards
00:30:43.300 to
00:30:43.980 block
00:30:45.440 Trump
00:30:47.200 supporting
00:30:47.700 messages?
00:30:49.140 They actually
00:30:50.240 signed it
00:30:50.660 directly.
00:30:51.560 They bragged
00:30:52.160 about it.
00:30:52.620 They laughed
00:30:53.000 about it.
00:30:54.340 It's lots
00:30:55.320 of people.
00:30:56.280 It's widespread
00:30:57.060 and it's
00:30:57.860 so acceptable
00:30:59.780 that the
00:31:01.160 employees who
00:31:01.820 were involved
00:31:02.400 saw no
00:31:03.460 trouble at
00:31:04.000 all speaking
00:31:04.640 freely about
00:31:05.400 it in front
00:31:06.400 of other
00:31:06.720 people.
00:31:07.620 It wasn't
00:31:08.260 even something
00:31:08.900 like a dirty
00:31:09.540 little secret
00:31:10.120 that they
00:31:10.560 kept to
00:31:10.920 themselves.
00:31:11.740 They happily
00:31:12.380 talked about
00:31:13.820 suppressing
00:31:16.320 conservative
00:31:17.060 voices on
00:31:17.800 Facebook.
00:31:18.100 Now,
00:31:20.300 that should
00:31:21.040 be the
00:31:21.420 end of
00:31:21.800 Facebook
00:31:22.200 in terms
00:31:23.020 of an
00:31:23.440 unregulated
00:31:24.180 entity,
00:31:25.080 shouldn't it?
00:31:26.720 We'll see
00:31:27.520 if that
00:31:27.800 happens.
00:31:28.520 Somebody's
00:31:28.880 asking me
00:31:29.300 if locals
00:31:30.000 is app
00:31:30.740 or web
00:31:31.340 based.
00:31:32.240 The app
00:31:32.920 just came
00:31:33.620 out a
00:31:34.480 couple weeks
00:31:34.880 ago,
00:31:35.380 so it is
00:31:36.120 both app
00:31:36.840 and web
00:31:37.480 based.
00:31:37.840 Anyway,
00:31:43.920 so enough
00:31:44.400 on that.
00:31:46.640 Facebook,
00:31:47.380 I think,
00:31:48.120 is going
00:31:48.540 to get
00:31:48.740 regulated.
00:31:50.260 I think
00:31:50.700 that Twitter,
00:31:52.760 you know
00:31:53.280 how brains
00:31:53.960 work?
00:31:54.420 We associate
00:31:54.920 things even
00:31:55.740 if they
00:31:56.140 should not
00:31:56.560 be associated.
00:31:57.500 I talk
00:31:57.960 about this
00:31:58.360 all the
00:31:58.660 time.
00:31:59.400 The fact
00:31:59.900 that there's
00:32:00.340 undercover
00:32:00.820 video of
00:32:02.520 a social
00:32:03.080 media platform
00:32:04.060 in which the
00:32:05.220 employees are
00:32:05.780 saying straight
00:32:06.680 up,
00:32:07.840 we screw
00:32:08.760 the Republicans
00:32:09.620 on our
00:32:10.140 platform.
00:32:11.700 People will
00:32:12.580 assume it's
00:32:13.300 true at
00:32:13.920 Twitter.
00:32:15.000 Is that
00:32:15.300 fair to
00:32:15.620 say?
00:32:16.200 So we do
00:32:16.960 not have
00:32:17.600 an undercover
00:32:18.220 tape showing
00:32:19.180 Twitter people
00:32:20.460 saying exactly
00:32:21.440 what the
00:32:21.840 Facebook people
00:32:22.500 are saying.
00:32:24.020 But your
00:32:24.800 common sense
00:32:25.620 says,
00:32:26.500 okay,
00:32:26.860 if it's
00:32:27.100 happening in
00:32:27.540 one place
00:32:28.080 and it's
00:32:28.860 so widespread,
00:32:30.460 it's got to
00:32:31.140 be happening
00:32:31.560 in other
00:32:31.880 places.
00:32:32.500 It's just
00:32:32.840 got to
00:32:33.120 be.
00:32:34.120 So I
00:32:36.440 think the
00:32:37.100 possibility
00:32:37.860 of the
00:32:38.380 social media
00:32:39.020 platforms
00:32:39.580 not being
00:32:40.320 regulated,
00:32:42.280 I don't
00:32:42.680 know.
00:32:43.240 I think it
00:32:43.740 went to
00:32:44.060 zero,
00:32:44.720 alas,
00:32:45.760 Congress is
00:32:47.200 controlled by
00:32:48.480 the Democrats.
00:32:49.700 So free
00:32:50.400 speech will
00:32:50.980 end,
00:32:51.880 actually
00:32:52.760 officially,
00:32:53.520 yeah,
00:32:53.960 free speech
00:32:54.520 will end
00:32:54.880 on November
00:32:55.340 3rd.
00:32:56.600 If,
00:32:56.960 and by the
00:32:58.760 way,
00:32:59.260 that's a
00:32:59.640 really powerful
00:33:00.340 statement,
00:33:01.140 isn't it?
00:33:02.200 Free speech
00:33:03.020 will actually
00:33:03.780 end on
00:33:04.300 November
00:33:04.660 3rd if
00:33:06.380 Democrats
00:33:07.400 control Congress
00:33:08.420 and the
00:33:08.940 White House.
00:33:10.500 Because,
00:33:11.520 now that we
00:33:12.180 know with
00:33:12.740 no doubt,
00:33:13.980 any uncertainty
00:33:15.300 has been
00:33:15.740 removed,
00:33:16.840 that Facebook
00:33:17.600 is suppressing
00:33:19.100 speech on
00:33:20.640 the right,
00:33:22.060 well, you
00:33:22.560 know that
00:33:22.900 Democrats are
00:33:23.500 not going to
00:33:23.820 change that
00:33:24.320 because that
00:33:24.780 works for
00:33:25.260 them.
00:33:26.400 So if
00:33:27.060 Democrats are
00:33:27.700 not going to
00:33:28.100 change the
00:33:28.800 social media
00:33:29.400 from suppressing
00:33:31.040 voices on
00:33:31.720 the right,
00:33:33.060 is it not
00:33:33.980 fair to say
00:33:34.520 that free
00:33:35.160 speech will
00:33:35.680 die on
00:33:36.160 November 3rd
00:33:37.660 under the
00:33:38.180 condition that
00:33:38.860 Democrats have
00:33:39.560 enough control
00:33:40.260 after that?
00:33:41.300 That's a fair
00:33:41.820 statement,
00:33:42.240 isn't it?
00:33:42.900 But it's also
00:33:43.440 very persuasive
00:33:45.060 because it's
00:33:48.240 true.
00:33:49.180 If it weren't
00:33:50.040 true, it
00:33:50.400 wouldn't be
00:33:50.720 persuasive.
00:33:51.900 There's a
00:33:52.520 Rasmussen poll
00:33:53.420 that says that
00:33:55.500 black Americans
00:33:56.240 are the
00:33:56.600 demographic group
00:33:57.680 most concerned
00:33:59.320 about a
00:34:00.000 shortage of
00:34:00.500 police officers.
00:34:02.240 So of all
00:34:02.840 the demographic
00:34:03.460 groups, the
00:34:04.820 black population
00:34:07.660 of this country
00:34:08.520 is the most
00:34:10.040 concerned about
00:34:10.880 wait, wait,
00:34:11.300 wait, we're
00:34:11.840 not going to
00:34:12.100 have enough
00:34:12.400 police?
00:34:14.340 Is that a
00:34:15.140 surprise?
00:34:16.380 Shouldn't be.
00:34:18.100 Should that
00:34:18.720 be a surprise?
00:34:20.360 No.
00:34:21.800 Nope.
00:34:22.960 It should not
00:34:23.440 be a surprise.
00:34:25.760 I have a
00:34:26.540 question for
00:34:27.020 you.
00:34:27.220 Why is it
00:34:27.600 that only
00:34:27.960 Republicans
00:34:28.500 worry about
00:34:29.260 mail-in
00:34:29.720 votes?
00:34:30.500 Being rigged?
00:34:32.660 I haven't
00:34:33.420 tried to
00:34:33.820 weigh in
00:34:34.240 on that
00:34:34.680 question too
00:34:36.120 much because
00:34:37.000 there are
00:34:38.060 some system
00:34:40.420 details that I
00:34:41.420 don't know and
00:34:42.100 it would be easy
00:34:43.180 to imagine that I
00:34:44.120 understood this
00:34:44.960 mail-in ballot
00:34:46.240 issue and I
00:34:47.020 don't.
00:34:47.400 And I'm not
00:34:47.780 sure anybody
00:34:48.260 does.
00:34:49.480 Let me state
00:34:50.420 that more
00:34:51.500 emphatically.
00:34:52.700 Nobody understands
00:34:53.660 the mail-in ballot
00:34:54.520 issue.
00:34:55.440 it's a whole
00:34:56.840 bunch of
00:34:57.220 confused stuff
00:34:58.420 that we
00:34:59.280 conflate
00:34:59.740 together and
00:35:00.520 we treat
00:35:01.380 one thing
00:35:01.900 like a
00:35:02.260 different
00:35:02.480 thing.
00:35:03.140 And so
00:35:03.460 I don't
00:35:03.760 think there's
00:35:04.440 anybody who
00:35:05.900 actually
00:35:06.440 understands
00:35:07.320 the real
00:35:08.420 risk.
00:35:09.080 But the
00:35:09.500 thing I
00:35:09.780 don't
00:35:10.000 understand is
00:35:10.620 why only
00:35:11.020 Republicans are
00:35:11.800 worried about
00:35:12.240 it.
00:35:12.860 Because are
00:35:13.720 Republicans under
00:35:14.480 the impression
00:35:15.020 that there are
00:35:16.360 no local
00:35:17.180 voting
00:35:18.280 precincts in
00:35:19.340 which Republican
00:35:20.120 operatives would
00:35:20.920 also try to
00:35:21.680 cheat with
00:35:22.600 ballots?
00:35:23.140 It feels
00:35:25.680 like the
00:35:26.060 cheating could
00:35:26.600 be about
00:35:26.980 equal.
00:35:28.120 Why would
00:35:28.620 one cheat
00:35:29.220 more effectively
00:35:30.040 than another?
00:35:30.760 I don't
00:35:30.940 know.
00:35:31.840 So there's
00:35:32.380 something about
00:35:32.880 the whole
00:35:33.160 issue I don't
00:35:33.760 understand.
00:35:34.960 So let me
00:35:35.860 say as
00:35:36.180 clearly as
00:35:36.760 possible that
00:35:38.000 I'm not
00:35:38.460 agreeing with
00:35:39.600 the Republican
00:35:40.280 position on
00:35:41.260 this.
00:35:41.780 But I'm
00:35:42.200 also not
00:35:42.640 disagreeing.
00:35:43.640 I think if
00:35:44.220 you have
00:35:44.540 certainty on
00:35:45.560 this issue
00:35:46.060 either direction,
00:35:47.380 if you're
00:35:47.900 positive that
00:35:49.020 mail ballots
00:35:50.780 are safe,
00:35:52.080 you're not
00:35:52.580 a credible
00:35:53.100 person.
00:35:54.320 If you're
00:35:55.080 positive that
00:35:56.040 they're unsafe
00:35:57.780 all the way to
00:35:58.640 the point of
00:35:59.240 changing an
00:35:59.780 election result,
00:36:00.880 well I don't
00:36:01.320 think you're
00:36:01.700 entirely credible
00:36:02.700 there either
00:36:03.540 unless I
00:36:05.200 learned a lot
00:36:05.760 more about
00:36:06.200 this.
00:36:07.080 So when I
00:36:07.820 say credible,
00:36:08.420 I don't mean
00:36:08.800 wrong.
00:36:10.000 I always make
00:36:10.620 that distinction.
00:36:11.600 I'm saying if
00:36:12.160 you're trying to
00:36:13.700 be an informed
00:36:14.540 citizen and
00:36:15.920 you're just
00:36:16.220 looking at
00:36:16.620 what you
00:36:17.060 know, and
00:36:18.620 that's all
00:36:18.960 you know is
00:36:19.540 what you're
00:36:19.920 being told,
00:36:20.980 I wouldn't
00:36:21.800 believe either
00:36:22.560 side, Republicans
00:36:23.960 or Democrats,
00:36:25.240 on the topic
00:36:25.920 of mail-in
00:36:27.680 ballots.
00:36:28.500 One of them
00:36:29.020 is right.
00:36:30.240 There's no
00:36:30.700 doubt about
00:36:31.100 that.
00:36:31.840 One of those
00:36:32.460 two sides
00:36:32.940 is right.
00:36:33.600 They're either
00:36:33.980 a big problem,
00:36:35.160 at least a
00:36:35.740 risk, or
00:36:37.060 they're not.
00:36:38.560 I don't know
00:36:40.020 which one it
00:36:40.520 is.
00:36:40.960 I honestly
00:36:41.480 don't.
00:36:42.240 If you sample
00:36:43.060 both sides
00:36:43.620 of the media,
00:36:44.800 you will hear
00:36:45.400 arguments that
00:36:46.380 if you don't
00:36:47.660 have your own
00:36:48.220 knowledge about
00:36:48.780 the field,
00:36:49.360 and I don't,
00:36:50.300 I hear the
00:36:50.800 arguments and
00:36:51.340 I go,
00:36:51.580 sounds pretty
00:36:54.180 strong,
00:36:54.980 and then I'll
00:36:55.680 hear the
00:36:55.960 argument from
00:36:56.480 the other
00:36:56.780 side, and
00:36:57.180 they'll say,
00:36:58.160 sounds pretty
00:36:59.880 strong.
00:37:01.680 Somebody says,
00:37:02.520 don't play
00:37:02.940 dumb, don't
00:37:04.180 you play
00:37:04.620 dumb with
00:37:05.080 me.
00:37:05.860 Well, no,
00:37:06.380 I'll tell you
00:37:06.780 what I do
00:37:07.240 know.
00:37:08.040 I do know
00:37:08.800 that there
00:37:10.500 should be a
00:37:11.300 million ways
00:37:12.080 that you
00:37:12.820 could cheat
00:37:14.900 with mail-in
00:37:15.640 ballots.
00:37:16.480 We'd all
00:37:16.880 agree with
00:37:17.300 that, right?
00:37:17.680 There must
00:37:18.480 be a million
00:37:18.960 ways you
00:37:19.480 could try.
00:37:20.920 But, here's
00:37:21.820 the argument
00:37:22.200 on the other
00:37:22.700 side.
00:37:24.560 You could
00:37:25.180 audit them
00:37:25.980 to know if
00:37:27.140 there was
00:37:27.380 any cheating.
00:37:28.800 So you
00:37:29.220 could, for
00:37:29.580 example,
00:37:30.200 now I don't
00:37:30.480 know if
00:37:30.680 anybody will
00:37:31.040 do this,
00:37:31.420 but let's
00:37:31.700 say that
00:37:32.000 they suspected
00:37:32.760 some cheating
00:37:33.320 in some area.
00:37:34.480 They could
00:37:34.840 say, we're
00:37:35.220 not going to
00:37:35.540 check every
00:37:36.020 ballot, it's
00:37:36.660 too hard,
00:37:37.560 but we can
00:37:38.000 check every
00:37:38.660 hundred or
00:37:40.140 whatever is the
00:37:40.700 right number
00:37:41.140 to get a
00:37:41.520 sample.
00:37:42.280 We'll check
00:37:42.760 every hundred,
00:37:43.900 we'll go to
00:37:44.520 the actual
00:37:44.920 voter and say,
00:37:45.780 is this
00:37:46.500 you?
00:37:46.880 Show me
00:37:47.160 your license.
00:37:47.860 Did you
00:37:48.120 really cast
00:37:48.920 a vote this
00:37:49.380 way?
00:37:50.360 And if the
00:37:51.020 person says
00:37:51.540 yes, you
00:37:52.240 say, okay,
00:37:52.820 well we
00:37:53.140 sampled a
00:37:53.660 lot and
00:37:54.080 everything we
00:37:54.540 sampled
00:37:54.820 looked good.
00:37:56.240 Now if
00:37:56.820 you sample
00:37:57.400 and it
00:37:58.120 doesn't look
00:37:58.600 good, you
00:37:59.100 would have
00:38:00.280 determined that
00:38:01.000 there's voter
00:38:01.520 fraud?
00:38:02.060 Absolutely.
00:38:03.740 So here's
00:38:04.260 the question.
00:38:06.880 Could voter
00:38:07.680 fraud happen?
00:38:09.140 I think
00:38:09.560 obviously yes.
00:38:11.580 Would it be
00:38:12.400 detected if it
00:38:13.400 happened?
00:38:14.340 I would say
00:38:15.180 obviously
00:38:15.740 it could
00:38:16.160 be.
00:38:17.360 Obviously
00:38:17.760 it could
00:38:18.140 be.
00:38:19.060 Now that
00:38:19.400 doesn't mean
00:38:19.820 that they'll
00:38:20.120 have a
00:38:20.400 process in
00:38:21.040 place to
00:38:21.500 do that.
00:38:22.920 And that's
00:38:23.240 the part
00:38:23.640 where very
00:38:24.580 quickly I
00:38:25.220 get into
00:38:25.520 the areas
00:38:25.920 where I
00:38:26.260 don't
00:38:26.440 understand.
00:38:27.040 It's like,
00:38:27.240 well, how
00:38:28.440 many people
00:38:28.860 are involved?
00:38:29.620 And haven't
00:38:29.900 we always
00:38:30.300 had mail-in
00:38:30.980 ballots?
00:38:31.500 I thought
00:38:31.780 we always
00:38:32.140 had them.
00:38:33.260 What's
00:38:33.680 really different
00:38:34.260 about it?
00:38:35.160 Is it the
00:38:35.560 fact there
00:38:35.880 are so many
00:38:36.400 but they
00:38:36.820 do have
00:38:37.220 an identifier
00:38:38.780 in each
00:38:39.240 one?
00:38:40.180 Can China
00:38:41.200 print up a
00:38:41.820 bunch of
00:38:42.100 extra ones?
00:38:42.780 And if they
00:38:43.120 did, how
00:38:44.160 would China
00:38:44.520 print up
00:38:44.980 extra ones
00:38:45.700 if they
00:38:46.560 need a
00:38:46.900 unique
00:38:47.200 identifier
00:38:47.720 for each
00:38:48.240 person they're
00:38:48.720 mailed to?
00:38:49.300 How could
00:38:49.560 they do
00:38:49.820 that?
00:38:50.640 So if
00:38:51.880 you think
00:38:52.400 you have
00:38:52.800 a good
00:38:54.660 firm opinion
00:38:55.440 on this,
00:38:56.180 I would
00:38:56.700 suggest you
00:38:57.280 probably
00:38:57.700 shouldn't.
00:38:58.440 know, if
00:39:01.200 I had to
00:39:02.060 know, part
00:39:04.420 of your
00:39:04.840 intuition
00:39:05.680 is that
00:39:07.360 it's very
00:39:07.740 cheatable,
00:39:08.440 and I
00:39:08.620 agree with
00:39:08.980 that.
00:39:09.700 My
00:39:10.000 intuition
00:39:10.640 is also
00:39:11.860 that it's
00:39:12.380 cheatable
00:39:12.880 and you
00:39:14.000 could get
00:39:14.340 away with
00:39:14.700 it.
00:39:15.460 But I
00:39:16.540 don't know
00:39:16.860 enough to
00:39:17.280 confirm that.
00:39:18.220 But if
00:39:18.480 your instinct
00:39:19.020 is probably
00:39:19.840 a bad
00:39:20.980 idea, you
00:39:22.040 might not
00:39:22.340 be wrong.
00:39:22.680 sometimes I
00:39:29.380 try to
00:39:29.660 teach you
00:39:30.120 joke
00:39:30.560 techniques,
00:39:31.500 you know,
00:39:31.820 how to
00:39:32.160 do humor
00:39:32.640 better.
00:39:33.520 And I'm
00:39:33.940 going to
00:39:34.120 read a
00:39:34.780 really funny
00:39:35.820 tweet, but
00:39:37.500 it's only
00:39:37.880 because I
00:39:38.360 want you to
00:39:38.840 understand the
00:39:39.540 technique.
00:39:40.820 So the
00:39:41.200 technique here,
00:39:42.000 and I've
00:39:42.240 told you this
00:39:42.660 before, is
00:39:43.260 putting things
00:39:43.900 together that
00:39:44.580 don't quite
00:39:45.160 fit.
00:39:46.500 So here's a
00:39:47.260 list of
00:39:47.960 things by
00:39:50.260 Deanna
00:39:51.040 Lorraine.
00:39:51.820 I guess she
00:39:52.600 ran against
00:39:53.080 Pelosi at
00:39:53.720 one point
00:39:54.060 and lost.
00:39:55.420 So I
00:39:55.960 don't know
00:39:56.200 anything about
00:39:56.640 her except
00:39:57.420 that she's
00:39:58.180 a Republican
00:39:59.120 and she
00:39:59.740 tweeted this.
00:40:01.120 And I'm
00:40:01.940 not saying I
00:40:02.520 agree with
00:40:03.140 anything on
00:40:03.680 the list,
00:40:04.220 okay?
00:40:05.240 This is
00:40:05.860 somebody else's
00:40:06.740 tweet.
00:40:07.300 I'm just
00:40:07.560 reading it.
00:40:09.640 Bubba
00:40:10.020 Wallace isn't
00:40:10.620 a victim.
00:40:11.160 Sean King
00:40:11.700 isn't black.
00:40:12.620 Joe Biden
00:40:13.240 isn't winning.
00:40:14.160 CNN isn't
00:40:15.600 news.
00:40:16.380 Elizabeth
00:40:16.860 Warren isn't
00:40:17.680 Indian.
00:40:18.240 Colin
00:40:18.560 Kaepernick
00:40:19.120 isn't a
00:40:19.540 hero.
00:40:20.380 Beto
00:40:20.840 O'Rourke
00:40:21.320 isn't
00:40:21.680 Latino.
00:40:22.400 Don
00:40:22.680 Lemon
00:40:22.960 isn't
00:40:23.400 a
00:40:23.620 journalist.
00:40:24.520 Greta
00:40:24.820 Thunberg
00:40:25.400 isn't
00:40:25.820 a
00:40:25.980 scientist.
00:40:26.900 Meghan
00:40:27.160 Markle
00:40:27.580 isn't
00:40:27.900 a
00:40:28.040 princess.
00:40:29.620 Now,
00:40:30.260 I laughed
00:40:30.640 for five
00:40:31.100 minutes over
00:40:31.560 that.
00:40:32.480 Now,
00:40:32.740 I'm not
00:40:33.040 saying I
00:40:33.400 agree with
00:40:33.940 her points,
00:40:34.740 but the
00:40:35.340 way they're
00:40:35.700 organized is
00:40:36.440 hilarious,
00:40:37.120 especially with
00:40:37.840 Meghan Markle
00:40:38.600 isn't a
00:40:39.260 princess at
00:40:39.800 the end,
00:40:40.420 because that
00:40:40.940 was such a
00:40:41.480 throwaway,
00:40:42.820 just nothing
00:40:43.540 but an
00:40:43.880 insult,
00:40:44.220 that the
00:40:49.280 whole thing
00:40:49.780 makes sense
00:40:50.980 but it
00:40:51.280 doesn't
00:40:51.540 make sense.
00:40:53.080 There are
00:40:53.600 too many
00:40:53.980 things that
00:40:54.780 individually
00:40:55.300 you'd have
00:40:55.820 to think
00:40:56.180 about a
00:40:56.540 little bit,
00:40:56.940 but because
00:40:57.820 they don't
00:40:58.680 fit together
00:40:59.280 in a list,
00:41:00.320 it just
00:41:00.900 makes you
00:41:01.280 giggle.
00:41:01.640 and I
00:41:02.380 can't stop
00:41:02.840 giggling
00:41:03.120 when I
00:41:03.460 look at
00:41:03.780 it.
00:41:04.100 Not
00:41:04.380 because I
00:41:04.800 agree with
00:41:05.200 it.
00:41:05.860 It's
00:41:06.140 simply the
00:41:06.680 organization
00:41:07.200 of the
00:41:07.820 thoughts,
00:41:09.100 so this
00:41:10.080 technique of
00:41:11.240 putting a
00:41:12.840 bunch of
00:41:13.160 things together
00:41:13.760 is hilarious.
00:41:14.820 Now,
00:41:16.060 there's also
00:41:17.020 a persuasion
00:41:17.800 technique baked
00:41:18.880 into this,
00:41:19.800 and it's a
00:41:20.480 little different
00:41:20.880 from the
00:41:21.340 laundry list
00:41:22.000 persuasion.
00:41:23.180 Laundry list
00:41:23.940 persuasion is
00:41:24.640 where you
00:41:24.920 don't have a
00:41:25.500 strong reason
00:41:27.580 for your
00:41:27.980 argument.
00:41:28.900 So instead
00:41:29.400 of a strong
00:41:30.180 argument,
00:41:30.520 you just
00:41:32.780 list lots
00:41:33.400 of weak
00:41:33.800 ones.
00:41:34.340 That's the
00:41:34.740 laundry list
00:41:35.400 persuasion.
00:41:36.820 Now,
00:41:37.060 lots of
00:41:37.480 weak arguments
00:41:38.200 should add
00:41:39.140 up to
00:41:39.440 nothing,
00:41:40.560 because
00:41:40.800 individually
00:41:41.280 they're all
00:41:41.900 nothing.
00:41:43.180 So if you
00:41:43.600 add a bunch
00:41:44.040 of nothings
00:41:44.540 together,
00:41:44.980 it should
00:41:45.140 still be
00:41:45.540 nothing.
00:41:46.220 But our
00:41:46.700 brains don't
00:41:47.480 hear it that
00:41:47.960 way.
00:41:48.640 If you hear
00:41:49.160 a laundry list
00:41:49.860 of reasons,
00:41:50.380 you think to
00:41:50.780 yourself,
00:41:51.100 well,
00:41:51.640 I recognize
00:41:52.560 that one
00:41:52.940 of those
00:41:53.220 things on
00:41:53.600 that list
00:41:53.900 isn't true,
00:41:54.480 but there's
00:41:54.800 so many
00:41:55.060 things on
00:41:55.420 the list,
00:41:56.420 there must
00:41:56.820 be something
00:41:57.260 on that list
00:41:57.840 that's true.
00:41:58.360 What
00:42:00.640 Deanna
00:42:02.140 Lorraine did
00:42:02.920 in her tweet,
00:42:03.640 which was
00:42:04.140 funny,
00:42:04.580 it's a
00:42:04.880 different kind
00:42:05.400 of list,
00:42:06.500 I'll call it
00:42:07.440 a Sean Hannity
00:42:08.340 list.
00:42:10.360 Here's what a
00:42:11.160 Sean Hannity
00:42:11.840 list is.
00:42:13.360 For example,
00:42:14.580 there'll be
00:42:14.900 five things on
00:42:15.580 the list,
00:42:16.620 four of them
00:42:17.360 are things
00:42:17.860 that you know
00:42:18.380 to be true,
00:42:19.700 or let's
00:42:21.180 say you're
00:42:21.500 politically
00:42:22.020 aligned with
00:42:23.040 Sean Hannity,
00:42:24.200 so you're
00:42:24.580 sure they're
00:42:25.060 true even if
00:42:25.680 they're not.
00:42:26.020 So there'll
00:42:26.720 be four
00:42:27.040 things you're
00:42:27.600 pretty sure
00:42:28.320 are true,
00:42:29.320 and the
00:42:29.960 fifth thing
00:42:30.520 is sort
00:42:32.320 of an
00:42:32.580 opinion-y
00:42:33.120 thing.
00:42:34.300 And so if
00:42:34.740 he gives
00:42:35.020 you four
00:42:35.500 things that
00:42:35.980 you know
00:42:36.280 are true,
00:42:36.820 or you
00:42:37.200 believe are
00:42:37.660 true,
00:42:38.140 and then the
00:42:38.760 fifth thing
00:42:39.180 you're
00:42:39.500 undecided,
00:42:40.780 but it's
00:42:41.200 in the list
00:42:41.740 with all
00:42:42.080 those other
00:42:42.460 things you
00:42:42.880 believe,
00:42:43.620 it's very
00:42:44.280 persuasive.
00:42:45.840 All right?
00:42:47.360 So if you
00:42:50.120 wanted to
00:42:50.640 persuade somebody
00:42:51.500 that some
00:42:52.620 of these
00:42:52.940 things were
00:42:53.440 true,
00:42:53.840 let's say,
00:42:54.900 you know,
00:42:55.160 some of
00:42:55.420 them you'd
00:42:55.720 agree with,
00:42:56.220 right?
00:42:56.660 We know
00:42:57.120 now that
00:42:57.640 Bubba Wallace
00:42:58.380 isn't a
00:42:58.900 victim,
00:42:59.580 but then she
00:43:00.340 throws in
00:43:00.860 Sean King
00:43:01.460 isn't black.
00:43:02.620 You know what
00:43:03.400 she's talking
00:43:04.000 about,
00:43:04.480 because he's
00:43:04.940 criticized by
00:43:05.780 the black
00:43:06.120 community for
00:43:06.740 that as
00:43:07.200 well,
00:43:08.160 but is
00:43:09.040 that exactly
00:43:10.060 true?
00:43:11.340 I mean,
00:43:11.760 I haven't
00:43:12.120 checked his
00:43:12.580 DNA,
00:43:13.980 so it feels
00:43:14.520 like,
00:43:14.860 I don't
00:43:15.520 know,
00:43:16.360 Joe Biden
00:43:16.980 isn't winning?
00:43:18.000 Well,
00:43:18.220 if you're
00:43:18.440 Republican,
00:43:19.060 maybe you
00:43:19.460 think that.
00:43:20.020 CNN isn't
00:43:21.380 news,
00:43:21.680 you agree.
00:43:22.680 Elizabeth Warren
00:43:23.540 isn't Native
00:43:24.320 American,
00:43:24.920 you agree.
00:43:25.580 Colin Kaepernick
00:43:26.280 isn't a hero.
00:43:27.340 If you're
00:43:27.740 Republican,
00:43:28.280 you agree.
00:43:28.820 And then it
00:43:30.280 gets to that
00:43:31.120 last one,
00:43:31.760 Meghan Markle
00:43:32.380 isn't a
00:43:32.800 princess.
00:43:34.820 By the time
00:43:35.560 you get there,
00:43:36.140 it's just
00:43:36.420 silly,
00:43:37.400 but it's
00:43:37.900 funny.
00:43:38.720 Anyway,
00:43:38.980 I just wanted
00:43:39.340 to call out
00:43:39.760 the technique.
00:43:40.600 You don't
00:43:40.760 have to agree
00:43:41.200 with any of
00:43:41.620 the points.
00:43:42.980 Did you see
00:43:43.800 the Stephen
00:43:45.400 Colbert
00:43:45.840 interview with
00:43:47.000 John Bolton?
00:43:50.100 If you saw
00:43:51.040 it,
00:43:51.340 there's a
00:43:51.640 very interesting
00:43:52.280 phenomena that
00:43:53.620 I can't
00:43:54.280 determine,
00:43:54.920 yes or
00:43:55.300 no,
00:43:56.980 if this is
00:43:57.760 true,
00:43:58.220 but I will
00:43:59.160 assert it as
00:44:00.120 my strong
00:44:01.000 professional
00:44:01.600 opinion.
00:44:02.580 So this is
00:44:03.520 professional
00:44:04.220 opinion.
00:44:05.740 It would be
00:44:06.380 hard to know
00:44:06.900 if it's a
00:44:07.500 fact.
00:44:08.620 And it's
00:44:09.560 this.
00:44:10.360 You should
00:44:10.900 look at my
00:44:11.400 tweet in
00:44:12.140 which I
00:44:12.500 showed the
00:44:12.920 picture of
00:44:13.720 Colbert and
00:44:15.160 Bolton side
00:44:16.420 by side.
00:44:18.000 And it's
00:44:18.900 hard to show
00:44:19.320 you things on
00:44:19.760 the screen
00:44:20.120 here.
00:44:21.000 So,
00:44:21.280 well,
00:44:21.540 maybe I
00:44:21.820 can do it.
00:44:22.200 Let's see.
00:44:23.280 And what I
00:44:24.000 wanted you to
00:44:24.480 see is
00:44:24.920 Colbert's
00:44:25.580 expression
00:44:26.120 compared to
00:44:27.360 Bolton's.
00:44:28.260 Now,
00:44:28.900 it's a still
00:44:29.580 photograph,
00:44:30.240 and those can
00:44:30.920 be really
00:44:31.320 misleading,
00:44:32.020 because if
00:44:32.320 they catch
00:44:32.700 you at a
00:44:33.000 bad moment,
00:44:34.180 the still
00:44:34.560 photograph
00:44:35.020 doesn't look
00:44:35.560 anything like
00:44:36.180 the way you
00:44:36.660 were if you
00:44:37.380 were moving.
00:44:38.420 But in
00:44:38.980 this case,
00:44:39.420 the still
00:44:39.760 photograph
00:44:40.260 captured exactly
00:44:41.540 what I did
00:44:42.160 see when I
00:44:43.040 watched the
00:44:43.520 live video.
00:44:44.820 And that
00:44:45.460 is,
00:44:45.820 there's a
00:44:46.360 look on
00:44:46.960 Colbert's
00:44:47.500 face,
00:44:48.520 which if
00:44:48.980 you're a
00:44:49.320 trained
00:44:49.660 hypnotist,
00:44:50.660 and you've
00:44:51.080 seen if
00:44:51.600 you've
00:44:51.940 triggered lots
00:44:53.240 of people
00:44:53.620 into cognitive
00:44:54.480 dissonance,
00:44:55.520 there is a
00:44:56.220 physical look.
00:44:58.020 And Colbert
00:44:58.480 has it the
00:44:59.460 whole way
00:44:59.840 through the
00:45:00.140 interview.
00:45:00.400 And I'm
00:45:01.080 going to try
00:45:01.440 to teach
00:45:01.860 you what
00:45:02.220 the look
00:45:02.600 is like,
00:45:03.500 all right?
00:45:07.540 Let's
00:45:07.940 do,
00:45:09.100 maybe I
00:45:10.380 can show
00:45:10.720 it to you,
00:45:11.220 because if
00:45:11.500 I don't
00:45:11.680 show it to
00:45:12.060 you,
00:45:12.200 it won't
00:45:12.340 be nearly
00:45:12.800 as powerful.
00:45:14.300 So I'm
00:45:14.620 going to
00:45:14.760 call it
00:45:15.080 up on the
00:45:15.420 screen here.
00:45:16.280 We'll do
00:45:16.760 our best.
00:45:18.120 Let's see
00:45:18.640 if this
00:45:19.160 screen looks
00:45:19.720 good on
00:45:20.140 your screen.
00:45:21.480 Let me
00:45:21.820 make sure
00:45:22.200 I don't
00:45:22.420 have anything
00:45:22.820 else on
00:45:23.200 my screen
00:45:23.660 that's
00:45:23.920 embarrassing.
00:45:25.180 I don't
00:45:25.700 think I
00:45:26.040 do.
00:45:29.800 So look
00:45:31.200 at these
00:45:31.480 two faces.
00:45:33.380 Now one
00:45:34.000 of them
00:45:34.380 is a
00:45:35.200 disgruntled
00:45:35.940 fired
00:45:36.540 employee,
00:45:37.560 and one
00:45:38.100 of them
00:45:38.400 is experiencing
00:45:39.320 cognitive
00:45:40.060 dissonance.
00:45:41.740 Bolton
00:45:41.980 looks like
00:45:42.500 a guy
00:45:42.840 who's just
00:45:43.300 a disgruntled
00:45:44.700 employee.
00:45:45.560 That is a
00:45:46.120 completely
00:45:46.500 normal look
00:45:47.500 for a guy
00:45:48.340 who just
00:45:48.700 isn't too
00:45:49.120 happy,
00:45:50.100 and he's
00:45:50.360 expressing it.
00:45:51.980 Colbert,
00:45:53.020 look at
00:45:54.040 his eyes,
00:45:54.660 and look
00:45:55.840 at the
00:45:56.080 smile.
00:45:57.360 Do you
00:45:57.580 see they
00:45:57.860 don't fit?
00:45:59.180 The look
00:45:59.900 of the
00:46:00.140 eyes is
00:46:00.920 crazy,
00:46:02.100 and the
00:46:02.500 smile doesn't
00:46:03.260 fit the
00:46:03.660 eyes.
00:46:06.220 That's
00:46:06.700 cognitive
00:46:07.120 dissonance.
00:46:09.260 That's
00:46:09.740 cognitive
00:46:10.140 dissonance.
00:46:11.720 So,
00:46:13.000 and let me
00:46:13.560 see if I
00:46:13.880 can do an
00:46:14.220 impression for
00:46:14.940 you on
00:46:15.360 here.
00:46:15.820 Sorry for
00:46:16.340 the people
00:46:16.660 listening to
00:46:17.220 this.
00:46:17.520 You're
00:46:17.700 going to
00:46:17.840 miss it.
00:46:18.140 I'll try
00:46:18.360 to explain
00:46:18.800 it.
00:46:21.020 I'll give
00:46:21.880 you two
00:46:22.220 looks.
00:46:22.980 One is
00:46:23.480 me,
00:46:23.760 concentrating
00:46:25.620 on something
00:46:26.540 that's right
00:46:27.000 in front
00:46:27.360 of me.
00:46:28.260 And then
00:46:28.480 the second
00:46:28.900 one will
00:46:29.380 be,
00:46:30.200 it looks
00:46:31.000 like I'm
00:46:31.380 in the
00:46:31.620 room,
00:46:32.000 but my
00:46:32.300 mind will
00:46:32.920 be in a
00:46:33.660 hallucination.
00:46:34.980 So the
00:46:35.580 first one
00:46:36.000 is an
00:46:37.160 ordinary
00:46:37.500 person who's
00:46:38.380 not
00:46:38.600 hallucinating,
00:46:39.700 who's just
00:46:40.080 looking at
00:46:40.520 something in
00:46:40.960 front of
00:46:41.240 them.
00:46:41.620 So look
00:46:42.000 at my
00:46:42.220 expression.
00:46:45.440 You can
00:46:46.080 tell from
00:46:46.500 my expression
00:46:47.020 that I'm
00:46:47.420 present.
00:46:48.620 I'm just
00:46:48.860 looking at
00:46:50.540 you.
00:46:51.540 Nothing
00:46:51.840 going on.
00:46:52.300 Now imagine
00:46:55.020 that I'm
00:46:55.500 recounting to
00:46:56.180 you a
00:46:56.440 story of
00:46:57.640 President
00:46:58.060 Trump,
00:46:59.060 who in
00:46:59.420 your mind
00:47:00.100 has created
00:47:01.260 this imaginary
00:47:03.080 monster that's
00:47:05.380 completely
00:47:05.820 divorced from
00:47:06.580 reality.
00:47:07.440 Now imagine
00:47:07.880 that you've
00:47:08.220 gone four
00:47:08.740 years knowing
00:47:10.000 that he
00:47:10.340 would destroy
00:47:11.080 the country,
00:47:12.140 but everything
00:47:12.940 that can be
00:47:13.580 measured is
00:47:14.260 better.
00:47:15.960 Now of
00:47:16.520 course we
00:47:16.820 took a hit
00:47:17.280 with the
00:47:17.560 coronavirus,
00:47:18.300 etc.
00:47:18.480 But nobody
00:47:19.700 would argue
00:47:20.240 that Trump
00:47:20.860 did not
00:47:22.340 preside over
00:47:23.800 a strong
00:47:24.220 economy with
00:47:24.960 good unemployment.
00:47:26.300 Nobody will
00:47:26.840 argue that it's
00:47:27.660 not going to
00:47:28.040 come back
00:47:28.540 fast, at
00:47:29.440 least as a
00:47:29.960 percentage,
00:47:30.680 even though it
00:47:31.120 might take us
00:47:31.620 a while to
00:47:31.960 get back to
00:47:32.380 the top.
00:47:33.260 No one would
00:47:33.800 argue that the
00:47:34.460 stock market
00:47:35.040 is low.
00:47:35.820 Nobody would
00:47:36.340 argue that ISIS
00:47:37.260 still exists in
00:47:38.340 terms of holding
00:47:38.900 territory.
00:47:40.120 Nobody would
00:47:40.600 argue that we
00:47:41.180 haven't pulled
00:47:41.960 down our
00:47:42.420 troop numbers.
00:47:44.680 I mean, you
00:47:44.940 could just
00:47:45.700 keep going.
00:47:46.260 And the
00:47:47.200 only thing
00:47:47.560 they'd have
00:47:47.940 is maybe
00:47:48.300 he ran up
00:47:48.760 the national
00:47:49.260 debt, which
00:47:50.220 is not the
00:47:50.680 strongest argument
00:47:51.400 for Democrats,
00:47:52.320 because they
00:47:52.800 would too.
00:47:54.160 So imagine
00:47:55.520 you're living
00:47:56.200 in a world
00:47:56.780 in which
00:47:57.440 everything you
00:47:58.140 believe about
00:47:58.760 the world,
00:48:00.360 four years
00:48:01.180 has disproven.
00:48:02.820 It's disproven
00:48:03.720 after four years.
00:48:04.820 Nothing went
00:48:05.500 wrong.
00:48:06.560 Everything that
00:48:07.220 you could measure
00:48:07.880 went right.
00:48:09.040 So you have
00:48:09.740 to actually
00:48:10.160 hallucinate
00:48:10.860 something wrong,
00:48:11.720 which they do.
00:48:12.720 They imagine
00:48:13.280 that the
00:48:13.600 president's inner
00:48:14.460 thoughts are
00:48:15.040 wrong.
00:48:16.260 So let me
00:48:16.860 now do an
00:48:17.340 impression of
00:48:18.800 somebody who's
00:48:19.500 in cognitive
00:48:20.500 dissonance.
00:48:21.300 I'll take
00:48:21.560 off my
00:48:21.900 glasses.
00:48:24.160 And they're
00:48:25.320 having a
00:48:26.100 hallucination
00:48:26.740 while they're
00:48:27.340 talking to you.
00:48:28.020 It looks a
00:48:28.380 little like
00:48:28.660 this.
00:48:29.720 And then
00:48:29.960 the president
00:48:31.020 see the
00:48:33.520 eyes.
00:48:34.140 When the
00:48:34.580 eyes are in
00:48:35.280 imagination
00:48:35.700 mode, and
00:48:36.480 I'm imagining
00:48:36.960 the president
00:48:37.460 as this crazy
00:48:38.340 clown, he's
00:48:38.900 running around,
00:48:39.480 he's trying to
00:48:40.560 kill everybody.
00:48:41.960 There's a
00:48:43.080 look.
00:48:43.420 And the
00:48:45.180 smile will
00:48:47.140 be, why
00:48:47.980 am I
00:48:48.240 smiling?
00:48:49.160 Because I've
00:48:49.780 got a
00:48:50.060 sociopath
00:48:50.500 look.
00:48:51.300 Do you
00:48:51.460 notice my
00:48:52.160 eyes are
00:48:54.420 not smiling
00:48:55.000 right?
00:48:56.020 But I've
00:48:56.600 got a
00:48:56.840 smile.
00:48:57.760 It looks
00:48:58.340 like a
00:48:58.680 sociopath.
00:49:00.100 But the
00:49:00.760 sociopath
00:49:01.240 look, the
00:49:04.260 sociopath
00:49:04.840 look is
00:49:07.960 very close to
00:49:09.180 the cognitive
00:49:09.780 dissonance
00:49:10.380 look.
00:49:10.700 because I
00:49:11.760 don't know
00:49:11.960 what the
00:49:12.200 sociopath is
00:49:12.980 thinking, but
00:49:13.480 the cognitive
00:49:14.060 dissonance is
00:49:14.940 you're having
00:49:15.540 a hallucination
00:49:16.700 and it's
00:49:18.000 coming through
00:49:18.500 your face
00:49:19.080 and your
00:49:19.480 face is
00:49:19.940 distorted
00:49:20.400 because it
00:49:20.900 doesn't know
00:49:21.460 how to deal
00:49:22.860 with the
00:49:23.160 hallucination.
00:49:24.240 Now, you
00:49:25.200 want the
00:49:25.500 test?
00:49:26.300 Here's the
00:49:26.740 test.
00:49:29.180 CNN's, let's
00:49:30.760 say, think
00:49:31.640 about all their
00:49:32.200 hosts.
00:49:33.680 I'm going to
00:49:34.320 name names.
00:49:35.860 Now you've
00:49:36.300 seen the look,
00:49:36.980 right?
00:49:37.320 So you saw
00:49:38.040 it on Colbert
00:49:38.680 and you saw
00:49:39.920 it on me.
00:49:41.060 And I'll go
00:49:41.800 further and
00:49:42.260 say that when
00:49:42.740 they're not
00:49:43.180 talking about
00:49:43.880 these topics,
00:49:44.720 they don't
00:49:44.980 have that
00:49:45.360 look.
00:49:46.140 It's about
00:49:46.840 the topic
00:49:47.560 that gives
00:49:48.040 them the
00:49:48.340 look.
00:49:49.100 I'm going
00:49:49.580 to name
00:49:49.920 some hosts
00:49:50.500 from CNN
00:49:52.000 and you tell
00:49:53.240 me which one
00:49:53.940 seems to have
00:49:54.540 a normal
00:49:54.980 look.
00:49:55.980 I'm just
00:49:56.480 talking about
00:49:56.920 the news.
00:49:57.500 This is on
00:49:57.900 the news.
00:49:58.660 This is what
00:49:59.060 happened on
00:49:59.460 the news.
00:50:00.240 And which
00:50:00.520 one seems
00:50:01.080 to have
00:50:01.440 something wrong
00:50:03.200 with the
00:50:03.400 eyes?
00:50:05.060 All right?
00:50:05.680 I'll just
00:50:06.440 name some.
00:50:08.220 Dr.
00:50:08.880 Sanjay Gupta.
00:50:10.700 Just imagine
00:50:11.240 him.
00:50:13.220 Chris Cuomo.
00:50:15.300 Don Lemon.
00:50:17.760 Anderson Cooper.
00:50:20.800 Jake Tapper.
00:50:21.800 Brooke Baldwin.
00:50:33.440 All right?
00:50:34.580 Now, of
00:50:35.220 those, go.
00:50:37.020 Which one of
00:50:38.240 those people
00:50:39.000 exhibits?
00:50:41.840 You're all
00:50:42.640 getting it
00:50:43.020 right.
00:50:43.980 Yeah,
00:50:44.260 Anderson Cooper.
00:50:45.760 Anderson Cooper
00:50:46.800 has the
00:50:48.800 Colbert face.
00:50:49.660 Chris Cuomo.
00:50:57.260 Ish.
00:50:58.560 I can see
00:50:59.260 why you're
00:50:59.620 guessing,
00:51:00.080 but ish.
00:51:01.520 Stelter,
00:51:02.640 no.
00:51:03.360 Jake Tapper,
00:51:04.000 no.
00:51:06.760 Don Lemon,
00:51:07.460 no.
00:51:08.500 Believe it or
00:51:09.060 not,
00:51:09.620 Don Lemon
00:51:10.140 does not,
00:51:11.120 he does not
00:51:12.080 exhibit the
00:51:14.740 cognitive
00:51:15.300 dissonance
00:51:16.400 face,
00:51:17.000 which might
00:51:17.820 mean that
00:51:18.220 he believes
00:51:18.680 what he's
00:51:19.060 saying and
00:51:19.640 it seems
00:51:20.020 consistent
00:51:20.600 with what
00:51:21.100 he sees.
00:51:21.840 Could be.
00:51:25.300 Well,
00:51:26.000 this is going
00:51:26.720 to freak you
00:51:27.240 out because
00:51:27.820 now that
00:51:28.280 you've seen
00:51:28.760 it,
00:51:29.300 and by the
00:51:29.660 way,
00:51:30.000 you'd have
00:51:30.760 to be a
00:51:31.100 trained hypnotist
00:51:31.880 to recognize
00:51:32.660 this,
00:51:33.840 or at least
00:51:34.580 be experienced,
00:51:35.300 but now that
00:51:35.720 I taught it
00:51:36.280 to you,
00:51:36.900 you're going
00:51:37.280 to start
00:51:37.600 seeing it,
00:51:38.580 and watch
00:51:39.520 how easily
00:51:40.020 you spot
00:51:40.580 it now
00:51:41.700 that you
00:51:41.960 can see
00:51:42.320 it.
00:51:42.740 It's going
00:51:43.140 to freak
00:51:43.420 you out
00:51:43.740 how easily
00:51:44.440 you can
00:51:44.760 spot it.
00:51:46.480 All right,
00:51:46.880 let's see if
00:51:47.320 I talked
00:51:47.780 about everything
00:51:48.280 I want to
00:51:48.680 talk about.
00:51:49.480 Did I miss
00:51:49.820 anything?
00:51:51.020 Anything else
00:51:51.540 happening?
00:51:53.580 And let me
00:51:54.560 reiterate the
00:51:58.720 fact that
00:51:59.520 cognitive
00:52:00.020 dissonance
00:52:00.580 does not
00:52:02.640 measure your
00:52:03.420 intelligence,
00:52:04.680 it doesn't
00:52:05.380 measure your
00:52:06.300 knowledge,
00:52:07.780 it doesn't
00:52:08.240 even measure
00:52:09.820 your intentions.
00:52:11.620 So there's
00:52:12.220 nothing about
00:52:12.780 Anderson Cooper
00:52:13.500 that I think
00:52:14.160 is anything
00:52:15.440 but smart
00:52:16.240 and well
00:52:16.820 intentioned
00:52:17.440 and well
00:52:17.980 informed.
00:52:19.040 I would say
00:52:19.520 all of those
00:52:19.980 things about
00:52:20.420 him.
00:52:21.320 But it
00:52:22.720 is nonetheless
00:52:23.220 true that
00:52:23.920 when he
00:52:24.160 talks about
00:52:24.740 Trump,
00:52:25.220 he gets
00:52:25.560 a look
00:52:26.620 on his
00:52:26.920 face that
00:52:27.420 is not
00:52:27.780 common
00:52:28.220 to any
00:52:29.560 other
00:52:29.800 reporting.
00:52:30.580 And I
00:52:30.780 think you've
00:52:31.140 seen it.
00:52:32.860 Somebody
00:52:33.340 says AOC.
00:52:34.620 You know,
00:52:34.940 the ones
00:52:35.280 that are
00:52:35.520 hard to
00:52:35.920 tell are
00:52:36.840 the ones
00:52:37.480 who open
00:52:38.700 their eyes
00:52:39.160 wide when
00:52:39.740 they talk
00:52:40.160 sometimes.
00:52:41.040 So you'll
00:52:41.360 get a
00:52:41.640 photograph that
00:52:42.380 looks strange
00:52:43.800 because he
00:52:44.180 caught it
00:52:44.580 right that
00:52:44.900 moment.
00:52:45.320 So Cory
00:52:45.720 Booker
00:52:46.120 and AOC
00:52:49.240 sometimes have
00:52:50.120 photos that
00:52:50.920 are wide-eyed.
00:52:51.780 That's not
00:52:52.500 exactly what
00:52:53.140 I'm talking
00:52:53.500 about.
00:52:54.780 It's not
00:52:55.460 just your
00:52:55.840 eyes are
00:52:56.320 wide.
00:52:57.080 There's
00:52:57.240 like a
00:52:58.640 glassy stare
00:52:59.840 like you're
00:53:00.260 not in the
00:53:00.660 room that
00:53:01.300 is the
00:53:01.740 tell.
00:53:02.260 all right.
00:53:08.220 Does anybody
00:53:09.040 think that
00:53:09.880 Bolton is
00:53:11.040 laying a
00:53:11.580 glove on
00:53:12.060 Trump?
00:53:13.320 Because it
00:53:13.980 doesn't feel
00:53:14.460 like it,
00:53:14.840 does it?
00:53:15.820 Doesn't the
00:53:16.680 Bolton book
00:53:17.280 feel like it's
00:53:18.360 just Groundhog
00:53:19.040 Day and it's
00:53:20.240 another guy
00:53:20.780 saying stuff
00:53:21.400 happened in
00:53:21.880 a room and
00:53:22.300 nobody else
00:53:22.780 heard it in
00:53:24.060 a month?
00:53:25.320 In a month,
00:53:26.760 you won't
00:53:28.740 even remember
00:53:29.280 that book?
00:53:29.700 Somebody says
00:53:35.440 no fair
00:53:35.900 teaching NLP
00:53:36.920 to the
00:53:37.420 uninitiated.
00:53:38.620 So somebody
00:53:39.020 is a hypnosis
00:53:39.620 trainer out
00:53:40.220 here.
00:53:41.080 What's the
00:53:41.380 next big
00:53:42.380 red pill?
00:53:43.700 Well, if
00:53:44.820 you were on
00:53:45.180 the locals
00:53:45.640 platform, you
00:53:47.420 would already
00:53:47.980 know the
00:53:49.380 answer to
00:53:49.680 that question.
00:53:50.420 But because
00:53:51.320 you answered,
00:53:51.860 if you're
00:53:52.140 going to stick
00:53:52.440 around for a
00:53:52.960 moment, I
00:53:53.700 will read to
00:53:54.220 you the
00:53:55.100 parts of the
00:53:55.600 red pill
00:53:55.980 because I
00:53:56.740 documented them
00:53:57.620 on locals.
00:53:59.700 So if you
00:54:00.260 ordered it in
00:54:00.760 writing, that
00:54:01.360 would be the
00:54:02.000 place to go.
00:54:03.160 But I'm
00:54:03.520 going to read
00:54:03.760 it to you.
00:54:04.760 So here's a
00:54:05.800 list of
00:54:06.200 things that
00:54:08.360 have changed.
00:54:11.660 People are
00:54:12.320 asking me if
00:54:12.780 Adam Schiff
00:54:13.320 has the
00:54:13.700 look.
00:54:14.500 See, Adam
00:54:15.180 Schiff has
00:54:15.580 the same
00:54:15.860 problem.
00:54:16.260 He has
00:54:16.500 wide-eye
00:54:17.640 look and
00:54:19.300 that one
00:54:20.600 can throw
00:54:21.300 you off.
00:54:22.700 So just
00:54:23.140 having wide
00:54:24.500 eyes doesn't
00:54:25.480 necessarily mean
00:54:26.680 cognitive dissonance.
00:54:27.760 things, it's
00:54:29.400 a little
00:54:29.620 different than
00:54:30.120 that.
00:54:31.560 So I
00:54:33.660 told you that
00:54:34.160 the big
00:54:34.580 red pill
00:54:34.960 coming was
00:54:35.500 not going
00:54:35.800 to be one
00:54:36.200 event or
00:54:36.760 one thing.
00:54:37.360 It would
00:54:37.540 be a bunch
00:54:38.000 of things.
00:54:38.500 Here's the
00:54:38.860 bunch of
00:54:39.240 things in
00:54:39.760 my list.
00:54:40.480 Number one,
00:54:41.040 experts are
00:54:41.560 far less
00:54:42.120 reliable than
00:54:43.020 we thought,
00:54:44.100 and that
00:54:44.620 changed a
00:54:45.200 lot in
00:54:45.500 2020.
00:54:46.540 Yes or
00:54:47.020 no, the
00:54:48.000 public's
00:54:48.520 opinion of
00:54:49.280 what experts
00:54:50.040 know and
00:54:50.700 how much
00:54:51.080 you should
00:54:51.460 trust them
00:54:51.980 is completely
00:54:53.300 different in
00:54:53.900 2020.
00:54:55.000 Are you
00:54:55.240 with me?
00:54:55.860 That's part of
00:54:56.480 the red
00:54:56.740 pill, just
00:54:57.180 a small
00:54:57.540 part, but
00:54:58.620 all of
00:54:59.040 these
00:54:59.220 collectively
00:54:59.800 will make
00:55:00.640 you doubt
00:55:01.200 your ability
00:55:02.080 to understand
00:55:02.940 your reality
00:55:03.640 the way you
00:55:04.960 used to
00:55:05.440 understand it.
00:55:06.520 Number one,
00:55:07.680 we trust
00:55:08.140 experts far
00:55:09.300 less.
00:55:09.780 That's a
00:55:10.100 fairly new
00:55:10.780 change.
00:55:12.260 Number two,
00:55:12.840 Project
00:55:13.160 Veritas showed
00:55:14.100 us that
00:55:14.500 Facebook
00:55:14.920 literally is
00:55:16.400 doing everything
00:55:17.180 that conservatives
00:55:17.840 thought they
00:55:18.360 were doing.
00:55:19.380 It's real.
00:55:21.140 Yes, I
00:55:21.800 will add
00:55:22.140 this.
00:55:23.100 Flynn has
00:55:23.800 been, all
00:55:24.860 the charges
00:55:25.360 are dropped,
00:55:25.900 so the
00:55:26.800 Flynn thing
00:55:27.360 is another
00:55:27.940 part of
00:55:28.360 the red
00:55:28.620 pill.
00:55:29.560 Number three,
00:55:30.620 we know that
00:55:31.500 individual
00:55:32.060 scientific studies
00:55:33.260 are no more
00:55:33.960 reliable than
00:55:34.660 horoscopes.
00:55:36.140 In fact,
00:55:36.940 half of
00:55:37.520 published studies
00:55:38.260 turn out not
00:55:38.860 to be true.
00:55:39.920 Now, it is
00:55:40.400 true that
00:55:40.780 studies collectively
00:55:41.980 and over time
00:55:43.040 work science
00:55:44.060 toward knowledge,
00:55:45.320 but if you're
00:55:46.060 looking at one
00:55:46.680 study, it
00:55:47.540 doesn't matter
00:55:47.920 what, but
00:55:48.920 usually in the
00:55:49.620 social sciences
00:55:50.380 area is what
00:55:51.240 we're talking,
00:55:52.100 but if you
00:55:52.440 looked at one
00:55:52.920 study, it's
00:55:55.600 useless.
00:55:56.640 Now, you
00:55:57.120 used to
00:55:57.540 think, well,
00:55:58.400 it's a
00:55:58.760 study, right?
00:56:00.580 Even just a
00:56:01.340 few years ago,
00:56:02.000 you said, well,
00:56:02.740 it's in the
00:56:03.700 news and it's
00:56:04.440 a study.
00:56:05.180 I know
00:56:05.580 sometimes they're
00:56:06.260 not real, but
00:56:07.000 probably 80%
00:56:09.000 chance is real,
00:56:10.280 and now you
00:56:10.900 don't think that,
00:56:11.480 do you?
00:56:12.100 What do you
00:56:12.480 think is the
00:56:12.980 odds of any
00:56:13.720 study that's in
00:56:14.480 the news, just
00:56:15.640 an individual
00:56:16.180 study that's not
00:56:17.100 backed up by
00:56:17.760 other studies,
00:56:18.840 and it's a
00:56:19.300 shocking new
00:56:19.860 claim?
00:56:20.660 What's your
00:56:21.100 first thought
00:56:22.120 about how
00:56:23.240 likely it is
00:56:23.920 true?
00:56:24.800 Well, it
00:56:25.220 used to be
00:56:25.660 about 80%.
00:56:26.700 Right now, a
00:56:28.820 little closer to
00:56:29.480 20%, isn't it?
00:56:30.900 Big difference.
00:56:34.740 How about,
00:56:36.120 now we know
00:56:37.360 that, of course,
00:56:38.080 defund the
00:56:38.560 police will
00:56:39.000 never work.
00:56:39.860 You already
00:56:40.800 knew that, but
00:56:41.680 I think other
00:56:42.140 people are just
00:56:42.780 learning that
00:56:44.160 slogans like
00:56:45.340 defund the
00:56:46.000 police don't
00:56:46.600 translate into
00:56:47.280 anything you
00:56:47.740 can actually
00:56:48.140 do.
00:56:48.420 you can, of
00:56:50.400 course, improve
00:56:50.960 the way they
00:56:51.400 do their job.
00:56:53.220 You've learned
00:56:53.860 that stories
00:56:54.380 about nooses
00:56:55.000 and hate
00:56:55.440 crimes are
00:56:56.100 more likely
00:56:56.960 fake than
00:56:57.980 real.
00:56:58.640 In fact, the
00:56:59.120 Wall Street
00:56:59.500 Journal did
00:57:00.680 a study on,
00:57:02.040 talked about a
00:57:02.660 study in which
00:57:03.320 they looked at
00:57:03.880 all the hate
00:57:04.820 crimes reported
00:57:05.700 and two-thirds
00:57:06.660 of them were
00:57:07.180 fake.
00:57:08.720 Two-thirds
00:57:09.440 of hate crimes
00:57:10.260 are fake.
00:57:11.620 Do you think
00:57:12.100 it's two-thirds
00:57:12.780 or higher?
00:57:14.040 You think it's
00:57:14.620 higher, don't
00:57:15.100 you?
00:57:15.960 That's different.
00:57:16.680 If you had
00:57:18.000 said to me
00:57:18.520 two years
00:57:19.040 ago, there's
00:57:20.020 a hate crime
00:57:20.680 reported, this
00:57:21.440 or that, is
00:57:22.500 it true or
00:57:23.180 false, I
00:57:23.640 would say,
00:57:24.000 well, I
00:57:25.040 don't know.
00:57:25.660 I have no
00:57:26.020 way to know,
00:57:26.660 but 75, 80
00:57:28.920 percent chance
00:57:30.020 it's probably
00:57:30.440 right.
00:57:31.460 What do you
00:57:32.080 think today?
00:57:33.820 10%.
00:57:34.260 Today, if you
00:57:35.720 see a hate
00:57:36.500 crime reported
00:57:37.320 and you
00:57:37.880 haven't heard
00:57:38.280 the details
00:57:38.840 yet, you
00:57:39.920 just heard
00:57:40.460 somebody's
00:57:41.660 reporting a
00:57:42.220 hate crime,
00:57:43.060 what's the
00:57:43.480 first thing
00:57:44.000 you think?
00:57:44.780 Maybe it
00:57:45.680 would be
00:57:45.900 horrible if
00:57:46.460 it were
00:57:46.660 true, 10
00:57:48.100 percent chance
00:57:48.680 it's true.
00:57:49.560 That's part
00:57:50.000 of your
00:57:50.200 red pill.
00:57:52.380 How about
00:57:53.040 this?
00:57:54.860 We're starting
00:57:55.640 to understand
00:57:56.260 that if you
00:57:57.720 calculated
00:57:58.280 reparations
00:57:59.000 correctly, there
00:57:59.720 would be a
00:58:00.000 negative number
00:58:00.640 because if
00:58:02.200 you do the
00:58:03.460 right calculation,
00:58:05.400 you would
00:58:05.760 study black
00:58:07.240 people who
00:58:07.760 came to
00:58:08.100 America against
00:58:08.900 their will as
00:58:09.680 slaves compared
00:58:11.080 to the income
00:58:11.780 of the people
00:58:12.240 who were not
00:58:12.840 taken as
00:58:13.280 slaves.
00:58:14.160 What's the
00:58:14.560 average of the
00:58:15.240 people from
00:58:15.780 the country
00:58:16.840 or continent
00:58:17.480 where they
00:58:17.820 came from
00:58:18.280 and how
00:58:19.360 are the
00:58:19.680 children of
00:58:20.280 the people
00:58:20.620 who were
00:58:20.820 taken as
00:58:21.240 slaves doing
00:58:21.900 income-wise
00:58:22.720 now?
00:58:23.600 As soon as
00:58:24.460 people realize
00:58:25.160 that, and a
00:58:26.140 few people
00:58:26.560 already are,
00:58:27.900 reparation starts
00:58:29.040 to go away
00:58:29.680 because even if
00:58:33.100 you think there
00:58:33.860 is a different
00:58:34.440 way to calculate
00:58:35.100 it, and of
00:58:35.640 course people
00:58:36.200 will, people
00:58:37.120 are not going
00:58:37.560 to automatically
00:58:38.100 agree that I
00:58:38.920 described it
00:58:39.820 right, but the
00:58:40.800 fact that that
00:58:41.440 conversation is
00:58:42.400 guaranteed to
00:58:43.080 happen, that
00:58:44.340 it should be a
00:58:44.920 negative number
00:58:45.580 pretty much
00:58:46.820 takes it off
00:58:47.340 the table.
00:58:50.860 How about
00:58:51.500 the fact that
00:58:52.240 we're very
00:58:53.180 close, we're
00:58:54.040 not there, to
00:58:55.500 realizing that
00:58:56.260 there's no such
00:58:56.920 thing as
00:58:57.600 racists?
00:58:58.940 What?
00:59:00.260 What?
00:59:01.660 Did I just
00:59:02.780 say that?
00:59:03.180 There's no such
00:59:03.720 thing as
00:59:04.020 racists?
00:59:05.380 What I mean is
00:59:06.240 everybody's racist.
00:59:07.600 So there's no
00:59:08.380 such thing as,
00:59:09.260 oh, that guy's a
00:59:09.940 racist, but you're
00:59:11.120 not?
00:59:11.780 No.
00:59:12.820 No, that's not
00:59:13.440 a thing.
00:59:13.920 Because you
00:59:14.400 can't be not
00:59:15.080 racist.
00:59:15.920 In fact, you
00:59:16.460 can't be not
00:59:17.100 biased on any
00:59:18.160 topic, because
00:59:19.460 your brain is a
00:59:20.440 pattern recognition
00:59:21.220 machine, but it's
00:59:22.640 not good at it.
00:59:23.880 It's not good at
00:59:24.600 recognizing patterns.
00:59:25.600 It sees
00:59:25.920 confirmation bias as
00:59:28.360 a fact, just as
00:59:29.660 easily as it sees
00:59:30.460 a fact as a
00:59:31.120 fact.
00:59:31.780 So you can't
00:59:32.700 turn off the
00:59:33.440 basic working of
00:59:34.640 a brain.
00:59:35.240 You can just
00:59:35.720 find ways to
00:59:36.700 overcome it, and
00:59:38.140 ways to do
00:59:38.900 better, and use
00:59:39.600 your higher powers
00:59:40.400 of reasoning to
00:59:41.300 recognize it, and
00:59:42.480 build a system
00:59:44.040 that tries to
00:59:44.720 squeeze the
00:59:45.580 bias.
00:59:47.100 But it's
00:59:48.580 now, it
00:59:49.840 borders on
00:59:50.400 stupid at
00:59:52.140 this point.
00:59:53.100 You know, 2020,
00:59:53.920 it borders on
00:59:54.580 stupid to
00:59:55.680 imagine that
00:59:56.320 there are
00:59:56.580 racists and
00:59:57.200 non-racists.
00:59:58.220 That's not a
00:59:58.720 thing.
00:59:59.760 Everybody is
01:00:00.660 racially biased
01:00:02.380 in one way or
01:00:04.440 another.
01:00:04.880 It's universal.
01:00:05.800 And I think it's
01:00:07.220 important that we
01:00:08.380 understand that,
01:00:09.220 because then you
01:00:09.640 can work on the
01:00:10.260 right solution.
01:00:11.580 The wrong solution
01:00:12.340 is trying to fix
01:00:13.640 the way people's
01:00:14.420 brains are wired.
01:00:17.000 You can't fix the
01:00:17.960 basic wiring of a
01:00:18.940 brain.
01:00:19.580 You can just fix
01:00:20.460 what you do, which
01:00:22.120 is fixable.
01:00:25.340 We now understand,
01:00:26.800 or we're coming to
01:00:27.440 understand, that the
01:00:28.140 news business isn't
01:00:29.460 even trying to be
01:00:30.900 news.
01:00:31.420 It's just being
01:00:32.120 naked advocacy.
01:00:33.120 I don't think
01:00:34.140 people knew that
01:00:34.700 five years ago.
01:00:35.980 People didn't know
01:00:36.740 five years ago that
01:00:37.640 the news wasn't
01:00:38.420 even attempting to
01:00:39.440 be news.
01:00:40.160 I mean, it wasn't
01:00:40.680 even in their
01:00:41.340 first choice.
01:00:45.380 We're learning that
01:00:46.300 conservatives see
01:00:47.100 the news on both
01:00:47.980 the left and the
01:00:48.620 right, and so
01:00:49.440 anybody who is
01:00:50.460 only sampling the
01:00:51.400 news on one side
01:00:52.500 is a low
01:00:53.760 information voter.
01:00:55.140 And because the
01:00:55.940 news on the left
01:00:56.660 is sort of more
01:00:57.360 universal, it always
01:00:58.920 bleeds over into the
01:01:00.040 reporting on the
01:01:00.740 right, the people
01:01:02.020 on the right see
01:01:02.720 the news on the
01:01:03.420 left and the
01:01:03.940 news on the
01:01:04.320 right.
01:01:04.900 It's a fuller
01:01:05.640 context, even if
01:01:06.700 they choose to
01:01:07.620 think one is more
01:01:08.680 right.
01:01:09.680 So I think the
01:01:10.860 left is about
01:01:12.120 ready to realize
01:01:12.980 that they are
01:01:13.640 low information
01:01:14.400 voters, because
01:01:15.740 their own news
01:01:16.520 sources are
01:01:17.100 completely corrupt,
01:01:18.400 and they're just
01:01:19.280 starting to figure
01:01:19.880 that out.
01:01:20.640 You know, the
01:01:20.940 Flynn thing, the
01:01:22.620 Russia collusion
01:01:23.360 thing, these little
01:01:25.380 hints are starting
01:01:26.260 to come together.
01:01:26.960 The New York
01:01:30.440 Times is doxing
01:01:31.500 that anonymous
01:01:32.460 blogger I told
01:01:33.240 you, so that
01:01:33.700 removes all doubt
01:01:34.540 about the press
01:01:36.140 being on the
01:01:36.720 side of the
01:01:37.120 people.
01:01:37.960 Didn't you used
01:01:38.680 to think that
01:01:39.220 the press was
01:01:40.600 on the side of
01:01:41.200 the people?
01:01:43.200 You know, maybe
01:01:43.920 you never thought
01:01:44.760 that, but people
01:01:45.360 did.
01:01:45.940 People thought
01:01:46.440 that the press
01:01:46.940 was on the
01:01:47.360 side of the
01:01:47.700 people.
01:01:48.440 The New York
01:01:48.820 Times has
01:01:49.260 removed all
01:01:49.860 doubt by
01:01:50.860 doxing a
01:01:51.420 person that
01:01:51.860 they were going
01:01:52.260 to write a
01:01:52.860 positive article
01:01:54.540 on, and they
01:01:56.780 were still going
01:01:57.260 to ruin his
01:01:57.760 life?
01:01:58.220 Eh, just
01:01:58.660 because it's
01:01:59.060 his story.
01:02:00.240 And they
01:02:00.540 were completely
01:02:01.320 transparent about
01:02:04.620 that.
01:02:05.440 We know that
01:02:06.220 Black Lives
01:02:06.680 Matter is a
01:02:07.240 racist movement
01:02:08.080 that is creating
01:02:09.800 a preferred
01:02:10.540 victim class.
01:02:12.600 Now, you
01:02:13.280 probably thought
01:02:14.020 that from the
01:02:14.580 beginning, some
01:02:15.180 of you did, and
01:02:16.740 not everybody is
01:02:17.540 there yet, but
01:02:18.160 that's what's
01:02:18.680 forming.
01:02:19.360 It's very clear
01:02:20.260 that a poor
01:02:20.860 white kid who
01:02:22.340 became a poor
01:02:23.080 white kid for
01:02:23.800 no fault of
01:02:24.400 his own should
01:02:25.620 not be put in
01:02:26.440 the lower
01:02:26.900 class of
01:02:27.520 victim.
01:02:29.460 There's just
01:02:30.080 no argument
01:02:30.600 for it, and
01:02:31.580 I think that
01:02:32.160 red pill's
01:02:32.760 emerging.
01:02:34.080 We saw the
01:02:34.620 Russia collusion
01:02:35.340 hoax, the
01:02:35.880 Charlottesville
01:02:36.440 fine people
01:02:37.040 hoax, and
01:02:37.500 other hoaxes.
01:02:40.400 You've learned
01:02:41.080 that much of
01:02:41.560 the news is
01:02:42.180 speculating
01:02:42.740 and mind
01:02:44.020 reading.
01:02:44.760 Once you
01:02:45.320 understand that
01:02:45.960 the news is
01:02:46.480 mostly mind
01:02:47.240 reading, but
01:02:47.900 poorly, you
01:02:49.100 recognize it
01:02:49.720 everywhere.
01:02:50.100 It's like, wait
01:02:50.500 a minute, that's
01:02:50.960 not news.
01:02:51.860 That's you
01:02:52.240 imagining you
01:02:53.020 know what
01:02:53.360 somebody's
01:02:53.800 thinking.
01:02:54.720 That's not a
01:02:55.480 thing, and
01:02:56.240 now you see
01:02:56.680 it.
01:02:59.300 Some of you
01:03:00.020 have learned, but
01:03:00.600 not all of you,
01:03:01.280 that hiring the
01:03:02.340 best people isn't
01:03:03.420 really something you
01:03:04.240 can do, except by
01:03:05.860 luck.
01:03:07.420 If you're the
01:03:08.220 president and you
01:03:09.820 happen to be a
01:03:10.800 very provocative
01:03:11.800 president who even
01:03:13.020 the people on your
01:03:13.740 own team don't
01:03:14.540 necessarily want to
01:03:15.340 work for you because
01:03:16.060 it's too much heat,
01:03:17.220 you don't have a big
01:03:18.320 pool to pick from.
01:03:19.840 If you don't have a
01:03:20.880 big pool of
01:03:21.740 candidates, the best you
01:03:23.500 can do, and this
01:03:24.180 was true with
01:03:24.720 Trump, the best you
01:03:26.100 can do is take
01:03:27.680 your best shot and
01:03:29.240 then fire
01:03:29.880 aggressively.
01:03:31.220 So if he fires
01:03:32.560 aggressively and
01:03:34.040 he's picking from a
01:03:35.540 limited pool because
01:03:36.580 just people don't want
01:03:37.400 to be associated,
01:03:39.120 that's the best you
01:03:39.700 can do.
01:03:40.900 People are
01:03:41.500 understanding that
01:03:42.280 slowly.
01:03:44.020 people are
01:03:46.360 understanding that if
01:03:47.520 you hear a book or
01:03:48.720 report about one
01:03:49.840 person who was in
01:03:50.620 the room and heard
01:03:51.920 something shocking but
01:03:52.940 the other people in
01:03:53.660 the room didn't hear
01:03:54.400 it, it didn't
01:03:55.540 happen, right?
01:03:57.020 You used to think,
01:03:57.900 well, maybe it
01:03:58.320 happened, but now you
01:03:59.640 know that anonymous
01:04:01.040 report or even the
01:04:02.680 non-anonymous report
01:04:03.840 like Bolton, nobody
01:04:05.260 else heard it.
01:04:06.260 Huh, isn't that
01:04:07.580 funny?
01:04:08.080 Nobody else heard
01:04:08.720 of that.
01:04:09.340 It means it's not
01:04:10.160 true.
01:04:10.360 You're learning
01:04:12.660 that disgruntled
01:04:13.460 employees always talk
01:04:14.700 the same way.
01:04:15.980 It doesn't matter if
01:04:16.720 Trump fires them or
01:04:17.760 the CEO of a company
01:04:18.700 fires them.
01:04:19.620 That CEO has no
01:04:20.940 strategy.
01:04:21.680 It's all chaos.
01:04:23.220 Everything, he
01:04:23.980 doesn't look into the
01:04:24.860 details.
01:04:25.500 He doesn't understand
01:04:26.340 the finer points of
01:04:27.920 all of the smart
01:04:28.900 things I tell him.
01:04:30.460 Every employee.
01:04:31.640 There's nothing
01:04:32.200 political.
01:04:32.840 There's nothing
01:04:33.200 about Trump.
01:04:34.780 Every disgruntled
01:04:35.740 employee is that
01:04:36.820 same broken record.
01:04:39.600 All right?
01:04:39.900 We've learned that
01:04:40.840 China is not our
01:04:41.600 friend.
01:04:41.960 It never wants to
01:04:42.620 be.
01:04:42.820 It's not even
01:04:43.200 close.
01:04:43.980 So decoupling is
01:04:45.720 coming.
01:04:47.380 We're learning that
01:04:48.440 the technologies we
01:04:49.580 thought were the
01:04:50.120 greenest might be the
01:04:52.080 worst.
01:04:53.880 In other words,
01:04:54.960 nuclear power might
01:04:56.620 be the greenest of
01:04:57.480 all.
01:04:58.300 So that's a switch.
01:05:00.860 We're learning
01:05:01.640 slowly that the
01:05:02.340 planet is probably
01:05:03.260 warming.
01:05:04.040 Even skeptics say
01:05:05.320 the planet is
01:05:06.340 warming.
01:05:07.320 But there's a
01:05:08.560 growing body of
01:05:09.680 smart people.
01:05:10.660 Michael Schellenberger
01:05:11.540 for one.
01:05:12.740 I'll be talking
01:05:13.200 about him a little
01:05:15.660 bit more.
01:05:16.220 His great new book
01:05:17.240 is out,
01:05:18.300 Apocalypse Never.
01:05:19.720 About three quarters
01:05:20.720 through it.
01:05:21.180 It's terrific.
01:05:22.700 It's the best.
01:05:24.820 So let me recommend
01:05:25.600 this.
01:05:25.940 It's Michael
01:05:26.320 Schellenberger's
01:05:27.120 brand new book,
01:05:28.420 Apocalypse Never.
01:05:29.820 and he goes
01:05:31.580 through all of the
01:05:32.220 environmental
01:05:32.760 arguments.
01:05:33.800 But here's what's
01:05:34.380 different.
01:05:35.100 He gives you both
01:05:35.800 sides.
01:05:37.020 I don't think I've
01:05:37.660 ever seen that
01:05:38.180 before.
01:05:39.460 Like, quite
01:05:40.400 objectively, he
01:05:41.460 actually gives you
01:05:42.280 both sides.
01:05:43.400 And when you're
01:05:44.820 done, you'll have a
01:05:45.440 completely different
01:05:46.320 understanding of all
01:05:47.760 of this stuff.
01:05:48.600 You really will.
01:05:49.560 It'll blow your
01:05:50.360 mind.
01:05:50.600 Then there's,
01:05:54.260 just for a funny
01:05:55.460 one, I said
01:05:55.920 socialism only
01:05:56.760 works if your mom
01:05:57.620 pays for your
01:05:58.180 cell phone.
01:05:59.120 So the experiment
01:06:00.380 in the autonomous
01:06:01.180 zone, I think,
01:06:02.740 has been very
01:06:04.260 successful for
01:06:05.440 everyone except
01:06:06.080 the people in the
01:06:06.860 autonomous zone.
01:06:08.180 Because it told
01:06:09.540 the world that
01:06:10.700 what they're asking
01:06:11.440 for isn't a
01:06:13.380 real thing.
01:06:14.580 It's not
01:06:15.120 something that
01:06:16.000 can work.
01:06:17.300 Oh, somebody's
01:06:17.860 telling me that
01:06:18.340 Michael Schellenberger's
01:06:19.700 book is not
01:06:20.580 not out until
01:06:21.460 June 30th.
01:06:22.560 I got a preview
01:06:23.580 copy, but I'm
01:06:25.420 sure you can
01:06:25.880 pre-order it, and
01:06:26.840 I think he would
01:06:27.580 appreciate that.
01:06:30.040 All right.
01:06:33.180 The Lincoln
01:06:33.900 Project Twitter
01:06:35.420 account, yeah, it's
01:06:36.320 tweeting all the
01:06:37.020 hoaxes.
01:06:41.060 Let's see.
01:06:41.760 I'm just looking
01:06:42.220 at your, at
01:06:45.320 your, Chaz was
01:06:47.820 sort of a mini
01:06:48.520 Stanford prison
01:06:49.540 experiment.
01:06:51.020 Well, that's a,
01:06:51.960 that's a funny
01:06:53.360 and terrible thing
01:06:54.060 to say.
01:06:56.860 Can I offer
01:06:57.580 one month free
01:06:58.420 on locals?
01:06:59.420 I think I have
01:07:00.040 that option.
01:07:00.580 I was thinking
01:07:00.980 about doing that.
01:07:04.920 You should link
01:07:05.740 to Amazon so you
01:07:06.760 can get a kickback.
01:07:07.960 You know, those
01:07:08.600 are not very big
01:07:09.300 kickbacks.
01:07:10.360 What about
01:07:11.020 Parler, somebody
01:07:11.960 says.
01:07:12.380 So Parler is
01:07:13.200 the, one of the
01:07:15.420 competitors to
01:07:17.160 Twitter, but, you
01:07:18.100 know, it's
01:07:18.460 tiny.
01:07:19.480 So if you do
01:07:20.580 what I do for
01:07:21.220 a living, and
01:07:22.520 you try to sell
01:07:23.300 books and stuff,
01:07:24.220 you have to be
01:07:24.880 on the big
01:07:25.260 platform.
01:07:25.900 So that's not
01:07:26.280 really an option.
01:07:27.900 So it would be
01:07:28.580 very expensive for
01:07:29.460 me to get kicked
01:07:30.140 off of Twitter.
01:07:31.140 But, here's what
01:07:35.420 I'd like to see.
01:07:36.460 Can somebody
01:07:37.020 build this for
01:07:37.620 me?
01:07:38.440 If you'd like an
01:07:39.380 idea for a
01:07:39.980 project, there is
01:07:41.440 already something
01:07:42.080 called Hoot
01:07:43.060 Suite.
01:07:44.220 Hoot Suite?
01:07:45.340 Where you can,
01:07:46.380 you can schedule
01:07:48.060 your tweets and
01:07:49.100 your posts to
01:07:50.060 social media.
01:07:51.380 But, I'm pretty
01:07:52.620 sure that does
01:07:53.340 not include the
01:07:54.340 alternate sites,
01:07:55.580 such as Parler,
01:07:57.080 such as
01:07:57.600 locals, such as
01:08:00.300 Rockfin
01:08:00.940 competitor, such
01:08:02.840 as BitChute.
01:08:03.960 I don't think it
01:08:04.660 includes all those.
01:08:05.620 So here's the
01:08:06.200 product that needs
01:08:06.900 to be built.
01:08:08.080 It's a product
01:08:08.800 where you can
01:08:09.340 write your content
01:08:10.240 and then you
01:08:13.320 can just select
01:08:14.000 all the platforms,
01:08:15.180 the big ones,
01:08:15.880 the small ones,
01:08:16.580 the alternate ones,
01:08:17.580 which is more
01:08:18.300 than anything does
01:08:19.040 right now, and
01:08:19.940 it just sends it
01:08:20.560 to all of them.
01:08:21.520 Because until you
01:08:22.320 have the one
01:08:22.920 software that sends
01:08:24.060 it to all of them,
01:08:25.040 it just, it would
01:08:26.160 be too hard for
01:08:28.080 people like me to
01:08:30.020 to have a
01:08:31.120 Twitter, let's
01:08:32.800 say, presence,
01:08:34.000 but also have
01:08:34.940 some kind of a
01:08:35.540 presence on an
01:08:36.340 alternative site.
01:08:37.960 Right?
01:08:38.300 So right now,
01:08:39.420 there's not really,
01:08:40.760 there's not a
01:08:41.380 practical way for
01:08:42.860 somebody in my
01:08:43.780 position to just
01:08:45.200 say, ah, I'm
01:08:45.860 done with Twitter,
01:08:46.780 I'll go to this
01:08:47.700 tiny platform that
01:08:48.700 none of you are
01:08:49.220 seeing, there are
01:08:49.900 no, you know, the
01:08:50.880 president doesn't
01:08:51.580 use, etc.
01:08:53.680 But, if I could
01:08:55.320 publish to all of
01:08:56.380 them, I would be
01:08:58.040 sending all of my
01:08:59.160 same traffic to
01:09:00.060 every source.
01:09:01.360 Maybe, maybe the
01:09:02.420 software has to
01:09:03.260 adjust it if it's
01:09:04.440 being posted in a
01:09:05.320 different place.
01:09:06.500 You know, maybe
01:09:06.960 Twitter has a
01:09:07.780 limitation on
01:09:08.840 characters, but
01:09:09.580 Facebook doesn't.
01:09:11.000 So you, you know,
01:09:11.680 you'd have to have
01:09:12.200 your software tell
01:09:13.000 you, you know,
01:09:14.540 where your content
01:09:15.260 will fit so you
01:09:16.040 can adjust it so
01:09:17.060 it fits at all.
01:09:18.220 But once you have
01:09:18.900 that, somebody says
01:09:20.940 it has been done,
01:09:21.840 I doubt it.
01:09:23.200 Right?
01:09:24.480 Whenever I say
01:09:25.400 that something needs
01:09:26.500 to be built,
01:09:27.260 somebody always
01:09:28.860 says it has been
01:09:29.580 done.
01:09:30.720 But if you looked
01:09:31.660 at that thing that
01:09:32.380 somebody says has
01:09:33.180 been done, it's
01:09:33.760 just never, it's
01:09:34.940 never the thing.
01:09:36.220 It's just something
01:09:36.920 that reminded you
01:09:37.580 of it.
01:09:39.040 I would know about
01:09:39.840 it by now.
01:09:43.040 All right.
01:09:45.600 And if, yeah,
01:09:47.560 Hootsuite is,
01:09:49.100 first of all, the
01:09:50.100 user interface I
01:09:51.000 found impossible.
01:09:52.340 Actually, I don't
01:09:53.120 know if it's
01:09:53.440 improved since then,
01:09:54.200 but years ago I
01:09:55.320 tried to use
01:09:55.840 Hootsuite and
01:09:57.000 they found it so
01:09:57.700 frustrating that it
01:09:58.660 was basically
01:09:59.340 unusable, in my
01:10:00.500 opinion.
01:10:01.040 And other people
01:10:01.680 have had the same
01:10:02.220 opinion.
01:10:03.240 And Hootsuite does
01:10:04.060 not, I think,
01:10:06.460 does not connect to
01:10:07.380 the alternative
01:10:08.000 platforms.
01:10:09.360 Probably only does
01:10:10.160 the big ones.
01:10:14.680 Yeah.
01:10:15.220 If it's been done,
01:10:16.300 tweet it at me.
01:10:17.320 And I'll take a
01:10:17.880 look.
01:10:18.320 But I will say
01:10:20.080 with the confidence
01:10:20.840 of 99% that if
01:10:23.860 it's been done,
01:10:24.700 it's not done to
01:10:25.700 a commercial level
01:10:26.880 or it doesn't
01:10:27.520 have all the
01:10:27.980 platforms or
01:10:28.920 something.
01:10:34.020 Somebody says
01:10:34.780 you can, it's
01:10:35.460 just not as
01:10:36.180 simple like you
01:10:37.220 want.
01:10:37.540 Right.
01:10:37.840 It's the
01:10:38.220 simplicity which
01:10:39.020 makes it a
01:10:39.460 product.
01:10:41.480 Yeah.
01:10:41.820 Other people are
01:10:42.740 saying the same
01:10:43.400 about the user
01:10:44.040 interface for
01:10:44.640 Hootsuite.
01:10:47.240 Pineapple on
01:10:47.900 pizza, I'm being
01:10:48.680 asked.
01:10:49.720 I say whatever
01:10:50.660 you want.
01:10:51.220 Social B, I
01:10:55.120 don't know what
01:10:55.440 that is.
01:10:57.400 Somebody joined
01:10:58.160 Parler and likes
01:10:59.200 it.
01:11:01.100 Oh, somebody's
01:11:02.080 asking me about
01:11:02.680 tests, coronavirus
01:11:03.840 tests versus
01:11:04.600 hospitalization.
01:11:06.080 So right now the
01:11:07.140 hospitalizations are
01:11:08.580 at least the
01:11:09.880 coronavirus, people
01:11:12.060 who have it, is
01:11:12.660 going up while
01:11:13.380 the rate of
01:11:14.960 death is going
01:11:15.520 down.
01:11:16.060 And I don't
01:11:16.480 think we quite
01:11:17.100 know why, do we?
01:11:17.920 It could be that
01:11:19.280 the testing is
01:11:20.080 finding more
01:11:20.660 people who have
01:11:21.360 low symptoms, but
01:11:23.260 that wouldn't tell
01:11:24.240 you why the
01:11:24.940 death rate is
01:11:25.360 going down.
01:11:26.180 It could be that
01:11:26.780 the old people
01:11:27.380 are hiding
01:11:28.120 better.
01:11:28.860 It could be we
01:11:30.780 know more about
01:11:31.500 ventilators.
01:11:32.800 It could be, who
01:11:34.800 knows?
01:11:35.860 I don't know.
01:11:36.440 It could be that
01:11:37.000 some of the meds
01:11:37.680 they're using are
01:11:38.320 more effective than
01:11:39.160 we know.
01:11:40.500 It could be the
01:11:41.140 zinc.
01:11:41.880 Who knows?
01:11:42.380 But one
01:11:44.200 possibility is
01:11:44.960 that the rest of
01:11:47.440 the cases from
01:11:48.420 this day forward
01:11:49.460 will be a lower
01:11:52.120 version of death.
01:11:53.500 It's possible.
01:11:55.360 Slaughter meter
01:11:55.900 right now is at
01:11:56.620 100%.
01:11:57.460 The slaughter meter
01:11:58.960 is not a prediction
01:11:59.800 because I always add
01:12:01.620 this following
01:12:02.320 caveat.
01:12:03.260 If nothing
01:12:03.840 changes, but
01:12:05.340 something always
01:12:05.900 changes.
01:12:06.620 So there will be
01:12:07.280 lots of surprises
01:12:08.540 between now and
01:12:09.800 November 3rd.
01:12:10.580 Do you have any
01:12:12.180 idea how many
01:12:14.540 people, how many
01:12:15.760 big things are
01:12:16.660 going to drop
01:12:17.260 between now and
01:12:18.420 November 3rd?
01:12:19.740 A lot.
01:12:23.980 Somebody says the
01:12:24.980 fragile ones are
01:12:25.760 already dead.
01:12:26.480 They can't die
01:12:27.160 again.
01:12:28.320 I think it's
01:12:29.200 probably a whole
01:12:29.740 bunch of little
01:12:30.540 things that are
01:12:31.900 adding up to it.
01:12:32.680 We're smarter
01:12:33.500 and all those
01:12:35.760 things.
01:12:37.280 All right.
01:12:39.140 Yeah, Biden
01:12:39.960 obviously has
01:12:40.920 some cognitive
01:12:41.920 problems.
01:12:44.380 Somebody says
01:12:45.120 there's no zinc
01:12:45.920 in the vitamin
01:12:46.580 aisle at Walmart.
01:12:48.380 Well, I know I
01:12:49.260 ordered some by
01:12:49.860 mail and it sure
01:12:50.480 took a long time
01:12:51.140 to get here.
01:12:54.100 All right.
01:12:55.140 Did any celebrity
01:12:56.200 die from coronavirus?
01:12:57.820 Yeah, that's the
01:12:58.360 test I've been using
01:12:59.200 to know how scared
01:12:59.980 I should be.
01:13:00.800 Because the odds
01:13:01.520 of me being the
01:13:02.200 first household name
01:13:05.300 that dies from
01:13:06.240 coronavirus is very
01:13:07.300 small.
01:13:07.660 so it's just
01:13:09.240 this weird little
01:13:09.960 trick I'm playing
01:13:10.760 with myself to
01:13:11.500 say, all right,
01:13:12.120 if there's no
01:13:13.780 other celebrity
01:13:14.800 person you've heard
01:13:15.780 of who died of
01:13:16.580 it, I know
01:13:17.100 there have been
01:13:17.360 a few, but they
01:13:18.000 were ones I
01:13:18.560 was not familiar
01:13:19.360 with, then I'm
01:13:21.720 not going to
01:13:22.000 worry.
01:13:23.400 Have you watched
01:13:24.100 the circus?
01:13:24.760 I have not, but I
01:13:26.880 might.
01:13:27.740 All right.
01:13:28.420 That's all I got
01:13:29.020 for now, and I
01:13:29.700 will talk to you
01:13:30.400 later.
01:13:31.700 Thanks, sir.
01:13:38.280 Bye.
01:13:38.780 Bye.
01:13:39.300 Bye.
01:13:41.800 Bye.
01:13:42.420 Bye.
01:13:43.160 Bye.
01:13:44.760 Bye.
01:13:45.200 Bye.
01:13:45.760 Bye.
01:13:46.860 Bye.
01:13:48.300 Bye.
01:13:49.340 Bye.
01:13:49.940 Bye.
01:13:50.180 Bye.
01:13:50.500 Bye.
01:13:52.320 Bye.
01:13:52.540 Bye.
01:13:54.900 Bye.
01:13:59.300 Bye.
