And welcome to another insanely great experience.
00:00:09.660
It's not education, it's not entertainment, it's an experience.
00:00:13.100
You're going to feel this from the inside out today.
00:00:16.080
The hair on the back of your neck is going to be tingle, tingle, tingle.
00:00:20.020
And not only that, but you're going to feel like everything's starting to head in the right direction.
00:00:30.760
This might be the beginning of something special that begins with a simultaneous sip.
00:00:37.120
You don't want to miss it because it could be the key to unlocking all of the happiness for the rest of your life.
00:00:42.160
I'm just saying, you might regret it if you miss it.
00:00:45.240
And all you need is a cup of mug, a glass, a tankard, a cellist, or a stein.
00:01:41.840
So, their new owners of the company that bought CNN said, let's get rid of this lame service that only reportedly had 10,000 subscribers.
00:01:50.680
Which is, I think the bad part was not, if you think about it, the bad part is not that, that they didn't get a lot of customers.
00:02:14.300
Somebody paid $50 for the most obtuse comment on YouTube ever.
00:02:18.500
But the problem, I think, with CNN Plus is that as a subscription service, and it was subscription, right?
00:02:30.500
I think this is where CNN showed the world how much people valued their content.
00:02:43.980
So, the real problem, I don't think, is that it didn't work out as a technology or as a business model.
00:02:50.940
I think what it did is it showed that the flagship of the property, the main TV show, probably isn't something that anybody would pay for.
00:03:03.420
Because you would think that you would see the same news for free somewhere else.
00:03:07.580
But wouldn't you see the same news that's on Fox News for free somewhere else?
00:03:13.980
Because they have a streaming service that is still around, so it must be doing better.
00:03:20.200
If you think about it, CNN actually doesn't have a product.
00:03:24.220
Because their product can be substituted with, how about nothing?
00:03:29.260
I'll just watch MSNBC, and I'll read the New York Times, and I'll look at a website, and I'm going to see the same news.
00:03:36.940
Because the left-leaning news has lots of competition.
00:03:40.720
So, that's really the big story, is that nobody would pay for it.
00:03:50.920
And I wonder if the big corporate press will pick up on this or not.
00:03:59.940
But, as you know, Michael Schellenberger is running for governor in California as an independent,
00:04:05.200
which normally would be just sort of the graveyard to losing an election.
00:04:19.980
But he's the first candidate I know of who has tried to run on competence and knowledge.
00:04:32.100
So, all he does is he's got books that are exactly on topic that he has researched.
00:04:39.760
And so, he has very specific solutions that are exactly tailored for the state.
00:04:47.160
They have wider application, but they're perfectly suited for running for governor.
00:04:51.480
So, he's demonstrated a body of knowledge in great detail, along with solutions to the specific problems of California.
00:05:01.420
He just won a coveted endorsement from one of the biggest endorsing groups, taxpayer groups in California,
00:05:12.060
whose name I dumbly forgot to copy and paste into my notes.
00:05:16.960
But the point is, he just got a huge endorsement as an independent.
00:05:28.400
Somebody will tell me it's the Jarvis Taxes, somebody, blah, blah, blah.
00:05:34.920
And the fact that they liked him and their orientation is taxes, that's a pretty strong endorsement,
00:05:45.320
given that he's coming in with lots of solutions for social problems.
00:05:58.200
Well, who comes in with specific, proven solutions for social problems,
00:06:05.620
like homelessness and drug addiction, you know, and drug addicts on the street,
00:06:18.200
Not from a panicked perspective, but from a practical perspective of what you can and cannot do
00:06:26.640
So, he comes in with all these things that fix,
00:06:30.260
they're really designed to fix the problems that the people on the left would also say are big problems.
00:06:36.840
And he gets an endorsement from the people who like low taxes.
00:06:41.760
It just shows you that his solutions don't require a lot of money.
00:06:48.400
So, apparently, they read all of his books and said,
00:06:51.760
okay, these are practical solutions that don't look like they cost a lot of money.
00:07:01.960
And it's probably right, it's teetering on the edge of the larger corporate press,
00:07:07.360
noticing that something's going on here that's not like anything else.
00:07:13.400
You've heard, it's not a story if a dog bites a man, because that happens all the time,
00:07:23.440
So, the news is always looking for somebody who's doing something not just better,
00:07:32.340
because that's why you don't see a lot of reporting on the details of, like, shootings every weekend,
00:07:37.540
because it's sort of the same story, there's more of it.
00:07:43.800
But when somebody does something in a completely different way, like AOC,
00:07:48.940
you know, AOC was sort of a story of, you know, the way she did it, wouldn't you say?
00:07:54.180
Because she did things differently, that's what was exciting.
00:07:59.800
She was young, she was young, she just had everything going on to make it something that was different.
00:08:05.180
But Schellenberger's doing the same thing in a far more directed way, like directed solutions way.
00:08:14.060
And correct me if I'm wrong, but nobody's even tried this.
00:08:17.200
Nobody's tried to demonstrate great mastery of content with specific solutions,
00:08:30.060
And if it has been done, I doubt it's been done this well,
00:08:32.720
because it's so directed at things that Californians care about.
00:08:40.660
So let's talk about, do you all know the background to the story about,
00:08:45.320
about DeSantis fighting against Disney and taking away Disney's special status,
00:08:52.620
because Disney opposed the so-called don't say gay law,
00:09:00.660
And are you following this whole story, everybody?
00:09:03.940
So I don't want to give you the whole background,
00:09:06.400
because most of you probably are familiar with it.
00:09:18.340
as for why DeSantis wants to remove from Disney
00:09:21.780
some special status they had where they could control the land
00:09:28.060
without as much government red tape and interference.
00:09:32.720
Now, my understanding is that when it was first granted to them,
00:09:39.080
They just didn't have to go through all the government red tape
00:09:42.820
to do things that, you know, probably made sense.
00:09:52.160
and Disney got their work done cheaper and easier.
00:10:00.740
So I don't know the history of it, but here's the thing.
00:10:04.660
I could not argue that it should or should not exist,
00:10:13.840
If you're doing something in the political realm
00:10:17.120
that even the people who are on your side call retaliation,
00:10:23.820
And otherwise, I think DeSantis is sort of a superstar.
00:10:29.100
I mean, I could easily imagine a DeSantis presidency
00:10:36.120
and wouldn't be as divisive as maybe other people,
00:11:12.880
that are going to look like everybody else's opinions.
00:11:32.540
you really have to push back every place you can.
00:12:01.580
Now, I'm also going to start agreeing with you.
00:12:34.400
I'm talking about like a permanent power situation
00:13:17.580
Do you think there should ever be an exception?
00:13:22.300
It should be if you can't win with your argument
00:13:35.380
that's literally called retaliation by your own side
00:14:35.760
and I'm not even talking about a specific policy,
