Real Coffee with Scott Adams - Episode 2319 CWSA 12⧸11⧸23 The 7 Hoaxes That Changed America. Should Government Apologize For DEI？

00:00:00.000 good morning everybody and welcome to coffee with Scott Adams the highlight of

00:00:10.500 human civilization and you're lucky to be here but if you'd like to take this

00:00:15.720 experience to levels that your body can't even understand and your brain

00:00:19.200 could not fathom all you need is a cup or a mug or a glass a tank or gels or

00:00:25.120 stein a canteen jug or flask a vessel of any kind fill it with your favorite

00:00:30.000 liquid I like coffee and join me now for the unparalleled pleasure the dopamine

00:00:36.160 of the day the thing that makes everything better it's called the

00:00:39.960 simultaneous sip go

00:00:43.500 well in science news remember all that that worry you had about your 0.99

00:00:59.280 cholesterol it turns out that's all bullshit I don't quite understand the 0.86

00:01:07.440 study but there's some study out that strongly suggests there's no link between 0.94

00:01:12.540 cholesterol and heart disease do you believe that now I I think I've

00:01:19.140 assumed that for a long time I'm not sure the study is accurate maybe some other

00:01:24.300 study will overturn it and I'm not and some people are saying the study is being

00:01:28.260 misread it doesn't really say that or maybe it maybe it's a short term versus

00:01:33.480 a long term maybe there weren't enough people in it maybe the design of the test

00:01:37.740 study was wrong so we don't know for sure but what I do know for sure is it's

00:01:44.340 not for sure the cholesterol is destroying your heart it might be just some kind of

00:01:50.040 inflammation so I don't know what's true there and don't get your medical advice

00:01:57.340 from cartoonists so talk to your doctor don't talk to me well Argentina got their new president Javier

00:02:06.940 Nudu and the first thing he did was cut the government from 21 departments down to nine

00:02:12.720 did he really do that that's not even possible did it did he tell them it's their last day they just

00:02:21.820 walked away or did they say you've got you know a year to wind things up how exactly did he do it

00:02:28.560 you know when you watched what happened at Twitter

00:02:35.160 it is there anybody who doubts the fact that Twitter had too many employees right when Musk cut 80%

00:02:46.140 of the staff how many of you said oh no there's no way it can operate if you've got 80% of the staff

00:02:52.860 do you know who didn't think that would be a bad idea there was a class of Americans who knew that

00:03:00.900 would be fine well what was that class of Americans who knew it would be fine we've got 80% of the staff

00:03:07.040 everybody who ever worked in corporate America am I right everybody who had business experience

00:03:14.660 said you know what I think that could work and everybody who was a journalist who did not have much

00:03:22.740 business experience said well how could it possibly work if you take 80% of the foundation out of the

00:03:29.540 building how's it going to stay up that must be fall over right and meanwhile everybody with business

00:03:37.960 experience said huh I'll bet that'll work and what has happened to the X platform since then

00:03:47.600 probably the fastest pace of useful development I've ever seen in my life

00:03:54.640 why were they so fast lots of reasons you know good leadership probably good employees

00:04:02.780 but they didn't have the other 80% getting in the way and and the things that they did could

00:04:08.780 actually make a difference and they're probably well paid so it's not like magic you know it's not

00:04:15.320 like there's some secret process that only one person knows it's kind of basic stuff get the garbage out of

00:04:21.460 the way get good people give them a reason to live so here's what I wonder about Argentina and

00:04:28.020 uh Javier Miru going from 21 departments down to nine by the time we have our election a year from now

00:04:37.080 we're gonna know if that worked just think about that yeah in 11 months we'll know if the Argentina thing

00:04:47.920 worked what if it does what if it works

00:04:53.600 I can't think of a better argument for electing a Republican

00:04:59.780 I mean if that works it's going to be hard to ignore

00:05:03.400 right because Republicans want to do they want to do the minor version of that you know getting

00:05:08.460 rid of several departments but it's going to be hard to argue with getting rid of the

00:05:14.680 Department of Education if Argentina gets goes from 21 departments down to nine and everything's fine

00:05:22.740 yeah so Vivek had a plan which honestly even to my ears sounded a little bit too much

00:05:31.980 when I would hear Vivek talk about it I thought I don't know if he can get all that done

00:05:37.560 maybe when it comes right down to it you wouldn't really get rid of the departments maybe trim them a

00:05:45.520 little bit or something but now when I see Milieu Milieu is it Milieu or Milieu I don't know whatever

00:05:53.260 whatever it is uh when I watch him try to do this we're actually going to have an answer of whether it

00:05:59.340 works you know sort of in the general sense but also it completely changes my view of Vivek's

00:06:07.280 take on this he Vivek went from outside the normal and be thinking I don't know if you can get all that

00:06:15.380 done you're right in the middle like you went from outside the the zone of oh that's not practical

00:06:23.360 to right in the middle of it as long as it works in Argentina it's definitely going to happen here

00:06:29.340 there's no way you can ignore it if it works there well speaking of Vivek he was on a spaces event

00:06:37.500 last night maybe some of you heard so it's the most classic thing that you talk about in public

00:06:48.660 speaking the single most classic joke that people make is somebody forgetting they have a microphone on

00:06:55.780 and then using the restroom in the middle of an event well that happened so Vivek was joining uh Elon Musk and

00:07:06.340 uh uh Alex Jones was there and uh Vivek I guess he uh took a little uh bathroom break

00:07:17.260 and his mic was on and all I've got to say about it is that man knows how to make a live stream

00:07:25.780 that's all I have to say about that there's nothing else to say and we're done next topic

00:07:38.980 over at open AI which has turned into a soap opera as well as a technology company uh one of the founders

00:07:45.580 co-founders uh Ilya uh since kever has not been seen uh he's not he's not visible to company for quite a

00:07:55.620 quite a time now what do you think is happening with one of the co-founders of open AI during the most

00:08:02.980 exciting time of their history why would he be missing in action what could possibly be going on

00:08:12.500 well let me ask you this he just created a company that's worth 90 billion dollars

00:08:18.180 and he's the the head you know expert you know he's not just the ceo he's like the technology guy

00:08:28.260 how much do you think he could ask for in salary

00:08:33.460 if he jumped ship try to imagine what Elon Musk would pay him

00:08:41.060 just just put that number in your head but what's his actual market value

00:08:48.180 don't you wonder about that like if if you and I went to get a job in corporate America

00:08:53.300 you know if I went back to work in corporate America like what what could I command in my salary

00:08:59.220 I'd like to think I could get a six-digit salary if I went back to corporate America

00:09:05.620 he might be worth a billion dollars

00:09:07.300 he might be the first employee in the history of civilization

00:09:17.380 who if you heard that his annual salary was a billion dollars you'd say to yourself that sounds about right

00:09:24.500 and I apologize to Elon Musk if he's negotiating with him now

00:09:28.580 because that's not going to help Elon at all not at all sorry

00:09:31.940 no he's not going to get a billion dollars but I wouldn't be surprised if he got stock options

00:09:39.140 that were worth a billion dollars in in a hypothetical if things go well sense wouldn't be surprised

00:09:45.780 I think he could actually command a billion dollars in compensation we'll see

00:09:51.780 what I don't know is how many people have gotten up to speed to where he is now so I don't know how

00:09:58.180 special he is obviously he was quite singular up until now but I wonder if that's still the case

00:10:06.500 all right um I keep saying that somebody needs to compile a master list of all the lost government

00:10:11.540 documents how many stories have you heard where oh those those emails were destroyed uh yeah it was a

00:10:20.580 mistake and uh oh you want those videos from January 6th oh I lost those yeah and now we hear that the

00:10:28.580 secret service has lost all of their messages around January 6th and it was a big accident it was just a

00:10:35.940 big mistake because there was there was a technology migration and you know the first thing you do when

00:10:41.540 there's a technology migration I think you all know this right well if you haven't been involved in a

00:10:47.540 technology migration the first thing you do is delete important files from the old system

00:10:53.860 no you don't do that the most important thing you do is preserve the old system

00:11:02.980 rule number one don't lose anything from the old system

00:11:08.820 don't lose anything from the old system until you're really sure you you don't need it but they lost it

00:11:15.060 huh well the head of the secret service is a known uh democrat loved operative uh was tight with 0.96

00:11:25.860 dick cheney and biden and now now she's head of the uh secret service and says it's a damn shame all

00:11:33.460 those very very necessary documents they just got lost data migration things happen

00:11:40.500 things happen in migrations what are you going to do

00:11:45.220 so I said to myself Scott this will be the day that AI becomes useful

00:11:52.580 I said whoa I don't want to go and you know do google searches and try to find all the recent

00:11:59.860 stories about lost documents and deleted documents and can't find the documents or won't give you the

00:12:05.220 documents or it's uh it's redacted you know I thought must be a lot of those stories but guess what

00:12:13.300 so I go over to Grok and I say Grok find me all the stories in the last seven years

00:12:20.660 where the documents have been lost or unavailable and I gave a bunch of words for unavailable you know

00:12:27.780 I said look for text messages and emails and legal documents and anything that the government said

00:12:34.100 you know is unavailable and it came back and it said well uh there was a president trump

00:12:42.740 who wouldn't give back his documents at mar-a-lago

00:12:49.380 he gave me three examples I think two of them were about trump not giving documents back

00:12:57.620 so let me just say Grok is not where we want it to be

00:13:02.340 but to be fair it's it's you know first release so I'm not going to judge I'm not going to judge Grok

00:13:09.700 until at least gets parity with the other services so I do appreciate I very much appreciate

00:13:16.420 that musk puts it out before it's you know completely diamond hard uh because I like that as

00:13:23.700 a process I like that he puts it out there it gets responses you know that they can they can fix it

00:13:29.860 based on responses and stuff so I'm not going to judge it yet but it wasn't useful for that so I

00:13:35.620 said to myself well I don't have to settle for Grok which is some people say it's like GPT

00:13:42.420 3.5 only I'll go to 4.0 I'll go to chat GPT so I went to chat GPT and said find me all the instances of

00:13:51.300 the government specifically the government saying those documents are gone I gave it a long super

00:13:58.020 prompt you know what it told me that's too hard it's too hard to get that

00:14:03.940 it's a search it's basically a google search I just wanted it to do it for me instead of me having to

00:14:12.900 google every single you know search term so it was too hard yeah much too hard so there's your update

00:14:20.020 on the usefulness of AI not much here's another one ask it to list the major political hoaxes of

00:14:30.420 the last seven years do you think it will do it oh no not even close why is that I don't know exactly

00:14:40.100 why that is it seems like exactly the sort of thing it could do but not even close yeah so certainly

00:14:49.620 AI is not going to be revealing truth to us if you thought that was going to happen well today we hear

00:14:56.420 that Hillary Clinton is going to get more involved in the Biden campaign and by getting more involved

00:15:03.300 in the Biden campaign if you read between the the words here let me let's try to read between the lines

00:15:11.300 okay okay it's coming into view now all right the top level is Hillary plans to get more involved in 1.00

00:15:17.220 the Biden campaign but if you squint just right if you hold it at an angle you can read between the lines

00:15:22.260 it says uh probably will smother him with a pillow smother him with a pillow just reading between the

00:15:30.580 lines yeah you got it you got to go beyond the surface you got it you got to do your own research

00:15:36.740 and dig down yeah smothered with a pillow um there's evidence that she's already purchased it from oh

00:15:44.420 Mike Lindell uh this is just messed up yeah she's going to buy her pillow from Mike Lindell and frame him for 0.93

00:15:52.900 for smothering Biden with the pillow there's also evidence that she's going to remove Biden's shoes 0.97

00:15:59.380 and put oh this is messed up she's going to put Mike Lindell's slippers on smother him with a my pillow and 0.96

00:16:05.460 then frame him for the whole thing that yeah I know it's true I asked AI AI says this is true

00:16:14.900 no I'm making all that up except it'll probably happen

00:16:20.500 well Trump says he will not testify at his civil fraud trial

00:16:25.060 because there's nothing to say is that the right choice

00:16:27.860 yes

00:16:33.700 yeah there's some things you can't say yes hard enough to

00:16:37.700 right it's not just yes and it's not just hell

00:16:40.820 yes it's like let me demonstrate the proper way to say yes to this

00:16:46.260 Scott you think uh Trump should uh decline the offer to testify at his own uh civil fraud trial

00:16:55.300 yes yes yes yes yeah that's that's the proper yes

00:17:01.860 so yeah that's good because I think what's happened since the banker said it's no big deal

00:17:08.420 and the real estate evaluation guy said it's undervalued there's nothing for Trump to add

00:17:17.620 nothing to add just get him off get him off of that risk and so he's smart so he's not doing that

00:17:26.580 all right so as you know Alex Jones was reinstated on the x platform

00:17:31.860 and uh one entity that's not too happy about it is the washington post

00:17:39.060 they say it's likely like in a opinion piece it's likely to hasten the flight of advertisers

00:17:44.980 from the site over anti-semitism and hateful content huh Alex Jones

00:17:54.340 anti-semitism and hateful content can somebody give me a fact check

00:18:00.260 I don't believe Alex Jones has ever even been accused of anti-semitism am I wrong

00:18:08.100 I don't think that's even better in the conversation I don't remember anything like that

00:18:13.860 right how about uh hate uh hateful content has Alex Jones ever been accused of hateful content

00:18:23.860 certainly you know with the uh whatever it is the school shooting case certainly he was wrong

00:18:31.860 and there's an argument that people were damaged by being wrong but do you think he did that end of

00:18:37.140 hate what was there some hate for children or family no there was no hate that there was simply

00:18:44.020 something he may have thought was true that turned out not to be true and he you know he doesn't say

00:18:50.900 it was true now he just says something got into him basically so the washington post is selling fake

00:19:00.260 news about Alex Jones while complaining that he's a source of fake news and the washington post is the

00:19:09.460 most disgraced uh known purveyor of fake news in the american history at least of ones that pretended to be

00:19:20.020 legitimate yeah uh there were other you know i'm not talking about tabloids in the past in the past

00:19:25.940 tabloids just made stuff up but the uh of the of the entities that pretend to be legitimate

00:19:32.500 the washington toast is washington toast oh the washington toast that just came out

00:19:40.580 from now on i'm going to call them the washington toast

00:19:43.140 those are totally burnt yeah so the washington toast anyway it's ironic that the washington toast

00:19:52.100 would be making fun of uh Alex Jones as you know i created the uh the hoax quiz that i bring out

00:20:02.020 every now and then especially when there's a new one but i realized it was getting too large

00:20:09.540 i wanted it to look impressive to show how many hoaxes there are but it worked against me

00:20:15.380 because when it gets too big people just sort of ignore the whole thing it's like yeah yeah that's

00:20:20.340 a lot of stuff i don't want to look into it so i uh tightened it up to seven the top seven hoaxes

00:20:26.500 that shaped modern america you like that title the top seven hoaxes that shaped modern america

00:20:35.220 i would invite any journalists who would like to follow up on this um you're welcome to use my

00:20:42.420 framing and to use me as one reference in your story if you'd like to follow up on this so i'm not

00:20:49.620 going to write the story i thought about it writing an article around it but uh i thought the tweet did it

00:20:56.100 fear of the top seven and i say they shaped modern america um and what i mean is

00:21:05.940 what i mean is they mattered there were lots of hoaxes but in the end they didn't matter

00:21:12.260 right like uh trump uh overfed the koi fish all right that was a hoax yeah it didn't matter

00:21:20.020 covington kids covington kids it was a hoax it didn't make much difference i mean not really

00:21:28.660 but here are the ones that did number one the fine people hoax number two because the fine people hoax

00:21:34.980 literally got i mean the fine people hoax gave us everything everything bad came from that hoax

00:21:42.020 um including biden the drinking bleach hoax um the russia collusion hoax the january 6th was an

00:21:52.980 insurrection hoax the derek chauvin murdered george floyd hoax the shadow banning isn't real hoax

00:22:02.100 remember when they told us shadow banning isn't real uh and then i'm going to add the climate models

00:22:07.220 predict the future which is different from saying climate change is or is not a risk i'm just saying

00:22:14.500 that it's a hoax that models can predict that now i left out think about the ones i left out

00:22:23.140 i left out the laptop hoax i personally don't think it would change the election

00:22:30.580 that's just my feeling so yes i mean it's often talked about as being a big deal but i don't know

00:22:36.340 if it's in the top seven it's in the top ten but ten is too much i'm trying to keep it tight so you

00:22:45.540 could argue about what should be on this list but i thought it would help to try to get the concentration

00:22:50.820 to get the conversation concentrated on the ones that made it might have made a difference you know

00:22:55.380 give or take one or two all right here's some new news that should have seen but i did not

00:23:03.380 not did you know that in big political events it's not uncommon to hire a big international pr firm

00:23:13.380 and the big international pr firm already has connections with big publications because big

00:23:19.460 publications rely on pr firms because pr firms had no stuff and have connection to their clients

00:23:25.780 that the news would like to have so there it's a friendly situation with pr people at the highest

00:23:33.300 level the the smaller pr people are just bugging the publications but at the highest level they're

00:23:38.500 their buddies so mike benz is talking about uh the situation uh there's a big pr firm called edelman

00:23:49.780 uh and there's somebody named uh an apple bomb who's a who's on the board of directors for the most

00:23:59.540 notorious cia cutout in all of u.s history and uh that's somehow connected to this big pr firm and ways

00:24:09.140 that are hard for me to understand anyway apple bomb run at atlantic hippies and uh according to uh mike benz

00:24:20.740 she got a red red she got caught red-handed serving as a secret quote inner cluster cell 0.86

00:24:28.340 member of a busted british intelligence op set up for covert censorship and political warfare operations

00:24:36.260 known as the integrity initiative but whenever the government has a uh an entity with a big name

00:24:43.300 it's just the cia it's like the integrity initiative the misinformation global initiative it's just

00:24:52.180 basically always the cia or british intelligence or some intelligence group all right so apparently what

00:24:58.500 these so-called clusters were uh they were journalists politicians military academic and business leaders

00:25:06.580 that that basically were networked in kind of a rico way so that a a pr firm or the intelligence

00:25:14.820 industries can activate them and suddenly the journalists and the the pundits and everybody

00:25:20.980 starts talking about the same thing so while you thought hey it almost seems as if the fake news

00:25:27.940 is coordinated it was coordinated it was coordinated it was exactly coordinated and they had a whole

00:25:35.540 structure to do it so so you always wonder hey how is it that they're all like instantly on the same

00:25:42.180 side in these situations it's coordinated yeah it's exactly what you thought it was all right um and

00:25:51.380 that's an organized online influence campaign now this this is uh talking about the uk but presumably this

00:25:59.780 this entity or this situation or this setup exists for american issues as well i did a really bad job of

00:26:06.420 explaining it because it was complicated and i just had time to skim it before i came up

00:26:10.980 i very much recommend that you follow mike bends on x bends as in mercedes bends same spelling he'll pop

00:26:20.660 right up if you look for him but his his understanding of who the players are is the most important thing

00:26:27.700 to understand about the news let me say it again if all you know is what the news is you don't know

00:26:34.660 anything you're literally blind even if it's accurate because if you don't know who's pushing that

00:26:41.940 narrative of the news you know and what they're leaving out and what they're up to you don't

00:26:47.220 understand why you're seeing what you're saying but now that you know that there's an entire layer of

00:26:52.020 organized misinformation people who work for intel groups you know that what you're seeing is an intel

00:26:59.380 fabrication for anything important so the news pretty much is fabricated anytime it matters when

00:27:07.940 it doesn't matter if it's just a celebrity thing if it's just a story about a celebrity it's not

00:27:13.380 fabricated by the government it's just wrong because the news gets everything wrong there's no news about

00:27:19.140 public figures that's correct but not for the same reason the reason the news about public fingers is

00:27:25.140 always incorrect is that the news doesn't know the real news usually the only person who knows is the

00:27:30.660 public figure maybe a spouse or something nobody else knows what the whole story is

00:27:37.780 so the news is completely artificial but for different reasons all right so i'm feeling sorry a little

00:27:44.340 bit for the president of harvard who not only is getting hammered for what some say many say is the

00:27:52.500 inadequate answer to the bullying of the jewish students on harvard's campus and so there are

00:28:00.420 calls for her to be removed bill ackman is sort of leading that charge famous investor bill ackman

00:28:06.260 and let me let me say this about bill ackman

00:28:12.420 don't let me ever make him angry at me if it looks like i'm heading in that direction 0.97

00:28:17.700 would you just grab me and pull me back because damn i do not want him spending his entire day 0.96

00:28:26.020 trying to take me out he works all day long i don't know how much he's working on investing lately 0.99

00:28:33.540 but he's working all day long and setting things right now i i'm completely on his side

00:28:38.260 uh in terms of he's got a point to be made um but ma'am it's it's an interesting dynamic to watch

00:28:48.340 an investor take down free college heads uh because they should be i think their answers were firing

00:28:56.580 offenses in my opinion although i agree with glenn greenwald who says that we're we're definitely

00:29:03.700 treading on the free speech rights of a lot of these people that's really happening but that

00:29:10.820 doesn't mean that the um that the presidents of these colleges gave good answers they're they're

00:29:18.340 definitely protecting a bad influence so so here's what's happening so the attacks against claudine

00:29:28.020 gay the president of barbara intensifying has now extended to claims that she got tenured based on

00:29:35.300 plagiarized articles and debunked studies i think what happened if i saw it correctly

00:29:44.020 was she referred to somebody else's studies and the other person their studies were faked or

00:29:50.740 wrong so uh i don't i don't have an opinion yet on how valid the claims are but they're out there

00:30:01.700 so the the important thing to know is it's out there um and that people are saying out loud and in

00:30:08.900 public that she's a diversity hire that's the sort of thing people didn't say so loud a little while

00:30:15.540 ago but now they just you can just say it out loud basically um i don't know if that's the case in her

00:30:22.180 case that she's just a diversity hire i would i would say how would i know how do i know what her real

00:30:29.220 qualifications are i don't so i'm not going to say that i would say that it looks exactly like

00:30:35.940 and in our world if it looks like it that ends up being the reality but i don't know if it's real

00:30:40.980 reality so she might be really smart don't know uh well i assume she's really smart anyway 1.00

00:30:50.180 well here's the uh here's the most predictable outcome i love this a series of two tweets

00:31:02.180 um the first one was that uh this one came from uh colin wright so he's he's a gentleman on

00:31:10.820 the x platform and uh when this plagiarism thing came up he tweeted this i'm sure any moment now

00:31:18.660 someone from the and he makes this up the critical plagiarism studies department will explain to us

00:31:25.060 how plagiarism is an oppressive social construct imposed by white western settler colonists

00:31:33.140 colonists really you should say and that we all need to acknowledge and embrace other ways of citing things

00:31:41.620 now that's pretty funny isn't it that if a uh if a prominent black woman the president of harvard 1.00

00:31:48.900 gets accused of plagiarism you know sort of a joke ha ha ha you know pretty soon somebody's going to 0.75

00:31:54.820 say plagiarism is okay if you're black well uh there's an assistant professor at the university of

00:32:04.100 cincinnati who writes in an article that anti-plagiarism policies harm black and latinx students 0.84

00:32:14.340 it actually happened

00:32:17.940 it's a real thing somebody actually said that it's unfair to accuse black people and hispanic people

00:32:28.020 of plagiarism and that maybe it'd be okay to blame white people but not black and latina latinx people

00:32:38.660 now i'm not going to read you the article or tell you where it appeared because i don't want to even

00:32:42.180 give it that much credit but it's kind of funny that it exists does this look a little like jumping

00:32:48.820 the shark shark here's here's fonzie yeah that's that's kind of kind of taking it to the full joke

00:32:58.660 level now remember i told you that we reach a point where the real news sounds like a joke you just

00:33:07.220 can't tell the difference this is real news and it matched exactly the joke and the joke came even

00:33:15.540 before the real news well i don't know about the timing but he didn't know about this when he did the

00:33:20.500 joke version the the actual article says latinx

00:33:28.660 apparently the assistant professor at the university of cincinnata used used that term in the headline

00:33:36.420 all right um there's a meme going around that i reposted that i believe one year ago i would not

00:33:44.020 have reposted and one year ago maybe you wouldn't even see it because it would get you know shadow

00:33:51.220 banned here's what the meme says uh it's a meme about uh dei and it's defining it says

00:33:58.580 diversity means fewer white people inclusion means exclusion of white people and equity means

00:34:06.500 the stealing from white people 0.60

00:34:10.820 is that unfair is that inaccurate it's a reframe but it's 100 accurate

00:34:19.380 yeah it is simply a different way of describing the exact same stuff but a year ago a year ago i

00:34:26.180 couldn't have said that out loud would you agree i don't think i would have but at the moment it's

00:34:33.460 now obvious to everybody you know how obvious it is that dei is all bad

00:34:42.420 cnn's farid zakaria just went all in against dei at colleges specifically but it the same thing applies to

00:34:53.380 everything else but he went in and he basically said the dei has destroyed the colleges just flat out

00:35:00.580 he didn't hold back a bit there was not one part of him that gave it a little bit of credibility

00:35:06.740 he basically said in a major piece on the middle of you know a good time zone on cnn

00:35:14.740 he just said see ci is or dei is dangerous and that just stood there as an opinion that cnn

00:35:25.540 is not you don't see i'll bet you won't see the other people debate it

00:35:29.620 do you think on another show on cnn somebody's going to say he went too far

00:35:35.140 that not it looks to me like cnn's on board with this as a company so now you have the entire

00:35:43.300 uh right leaning world saying dei has to die it has to it has to go and then cnn just is on the

00:35:52.500 same page at least with farid which i would assume is a more widespread opinion i don't know

00:36:00.180 i'm pretty sure it is i'll bet you

00:36:02.580 and here's what i have to say about uh about that i've told you before that design is destiny right

00:36:14.980 if you design something that guarantees a certain output why would you be surprised if you got that

00:36:21.220 output but here's what's wrong with the design of dei right so let's say that the ideas of dei

00:36:29.700 if not taken to the ridiculous are solid i agree with them i i think that all things being equal

00:36:39.060 as long as you're serving your shareholders and serving you know the larger community it would be

00:36:44.740 nice all things being equal if you could get more diversity more equity and more inclusion

00:36:51.380 that would be a good sort of goal for the world but as you know uh lots of goals conflict with other

00:37:00.420 goals and you can't have everything without giving up something somewhere else now suppose you take

00:37:06.340 those competing objectives and you put them in the brain of one hiring manager right so you're a hiring

00:37:14.500 manager and now it's your job to take care of the stockholders you're trying to take care of your

00:37:19.700 own career you try to take care of the employees you already have you're trying to take care of your

00:37:25.380 customers and you also care about the world because you're a good person and you say to yourself you know

00:37:32.020 what all things being equal i would like to have more diversity that'd be good but i don't want to trade

00:37:37.780 off too much i don't want to screw the stockholders i don't want to screw my employees i don't want to

00:37:43.540 screw me but balancing all these objectives i'll see what i can do now that's what i call a good system

00:37:54.340 because within that one brain are all the competing impulses and then the one person can weigh them

00:38:01.780 and evaluate them as one individual now is that a perfect system no no because that individual could

00:38:09.940 be a racist or that individual could be the opposite you know a reverse racist so that's that's not ideal

00:38:18.180 you could you could see easily why people would look for an alternative to that because it wasn't

00:38:23.700 wasn't maybe doing enough people would say but i'm only going to propose that putting all of it

00:38:31.380 into one decision makers head is your best situation even with all the obvious flaws so here's what

00:38:39.300 they did instead they created a dei department or maybe just one dei director once you've created

00:38:48.580 that system that's a different system than all the competing things happening within one person's brain

00:38:54.500 now you've got a separate entity but here's the the flaw the ceo can't ignore that entity

00:39:01.380 the ceo cannot say oh the dei say say we've got to do x but the ceo does not have the freedom

00:39:10.020 to say you know what i'm going to weigh that against my profitability the the well-being of the 0.99

00:39:16.420 you know the customers and everybody else the ceo has to say oh shit if i ignore the dei and somebody 0.54

00:39:25.540 finds out the board is going to remove me right so you end up with this power imbalance where the ceo 0.94

00:39:33.940 is the one who should be balancing all the competing interests but can't you take from the ceo the ability

00:39:40.340 to balance interests and you sort of blackmail them because they've got a reputation to protect you sort of

00:39:48.180 blackmail them into doing what the dei group wants that's a design problem the design of making the dei

00:39:56.100 group sort of a sacred protected class gives them too much power over the decision maker because they

00:40:03.060 can take the decision maker down reputationally that is a poorly designed system what you should predict

00:40:11.380 in a poorly designed system of that nature is that the entire enterprise would be destroyed

00:40:19.140 because the impulse of the dei people are to bring in people primarily who will achieve the objective

00:40:27.060 of the director of dei which is that more equity and diversity but do you think that person is going

00:40:33.940 to weigh that against profitability no because their own profitability is going to be based on how much

00:40:41.300 more diversity you have next year that's all they care about that the dei person is not going to be

00:40:47.300 directly or immediately blamed if some employee makes a mistake five years down the road that

00:40:53.700 is because they weren't qualified that's not going to come back to that dei person i mean not directly

00:40:59.620 and not on in time but they definitely are going to have to answer for why there's not more diversity

00:41:04.900 next year so so you have this incentive system that's completely on a whack with what it is you're

00:41:12.020 trying to accomplish because what you're trying to accomplish is a strong company that's doing the best

00:41:17.700 they can on these other social issues which do have weight and importance so all i'm introducing to the

00:41:27.060 argument is that you have two systems that we know of one is where one person has to balance all the

00:41:33.700 things and then you don't really get the level of equity diversity that some people think is essential

00:41:42.660 but you also preserve the entities right it's an imperfect system but at least the government still works

00:41:50.660 at least the company still makes money at least disney still makes good movies am i right

00:41:57.460 but as soon as the you know the dei people get involved disney can't even make a good movie

00:42:03.940 do you think that the the head of ceo of disney do you think that he can make decisions completely

00:42:12.100 independent of the objections of his own dei department kind of not kind of not yeah bob eiger

00:42:21.460 yeah so it's a design problem and if you don't see it as that you're going to see it as racism or

00:42:30.420 something right if you're going down the is it racism or you know who's who's discriminating

00:42:37.380 against who it's it's the wrong conversation it's not even a good conversation the real conversation is

00:42:43.620 it's an engineering problem did you design an organization to fail as soon as you put in the

00:42:51.860 dei group as a separate group that are that are evaluated separately and they have control over the

00:42:58.660 top that's a guaranteed failure it guarantees you'll take energy away from profitability and move it toward

00:43:06.100 something that's not profitability so that's the end of you or credibility

00:43:13.780 all right so just know that

00:43:22.980 so

00:43:25.540 i saw a weird post from nilon musk on evolution and entropy did anybody see that

00:43:32.500 it took me a while to figure out what that was all about still don't know exactly but here's what 0.98

00:43:39.780 he said so he says evolution and entropy and then space next line there are lies there are damn lies

00:43:49.380 and then there are statistical mechanics now you know this is a a play on statistics you know being

00:43:57.140 worse than lies but the statistical mechanics um seems to be a sort of a third branch of physics

00:44:06.740 in which they're trying to predict the action of the smallest entities and how that sums up i guess

00:44:13.540 and i don't know exactly what context he's making this comment but

00:44:19.540 do you believe that there is a uh any part of science is going to be using their statistical

00:44:27.460 mechanics to predict the future

00:44:33.140 basically i don't know anything about this topic

00:44:36.420 but i'm willing to say that musk is right because what he's referring to is something that

00:44:41.700 is sufficiently complicated that whoever is getting paid to work on it

00:44:46.180 is probably hiding in the complexity and getting a paycheck of doing some papers and stuff

00:44:52.900 while maybe not even believing that any of it's real or useful in the real world because it's

00:44:58.260 complicated and nobody can predict the future with math you know unless it's something like simple like gravity

00:45:07.620 all right um it looks like uh hamas has solved the ukraine war problem

00:45:13.300 uh or maybe trump has but it turns out there's a report that uh zelensky's uh well he announced

00:45:22.020 it he's gonna have peace talks in switzerland uh on the sidelines at the world economic forum

00:45:29.460 see you thought that the world economic forum was useless but it's a way to get zelensky to talk to 0.97

00:45:34.900 the swiss i guess since he's going to be there

00:45:37.860 so here's how i interpret that number one if hamas and not attacked israel

00:45:45.300 it's far more likely that the u.s would be all in on funding and maybe not looking for peace

00:45:52.580 is that is that too strong do you think those two things are are connected in that way

00:45:58.980 because it's really a stretch to get americans to fund a war that they don't quite see

00:46:05.460 exactly how it's helping us but then when we sail our our fleet you know next to a second war

00:46:13.540 and you know we're involved on some level but not boots on the ground but you're still

00:46:17.860 uncomfortable about the funding and the involvement i feel as if hamas made it far more likely 0.65

00:46:25.780 that zelensky would have to you know look for a peace solution because he can't afford war

00:46:31.700 so is that would you agree that those are connected or is that too much of a stretch

00:46:38.820 i i feel they're psychologically connected in american minds all right but here's the other factor

00:46:47.620 you've heard me predict this before the democrats and biden in particular cannot

00:46:55.380 allow this war the ukraine war to still be raging on election day

00:47:01.700 do you agree that that they're at a level of complete desperation because if trump takes over

00:47:10.740 when the let's say the lines you know the front lines haven't changed much in over a year

00:47:17.780 how easy would it be for trump to end a war where there's no more funding neither side wants to fight

00:47:24.420 the you know the way it will be settled will be obvious and and trump's not the one responsible

00:47:30.820 for starting in the first place he would just be the one responsible for ending it it would be the

00:47:36.260 easiest war anybody ever ended i could do it that's i'm not even exaggerating i'd be a terrible president 0.96

00:47:43.860 don't vote for me for president but give me one day in the job and i can end the fucking ukraine war 0.99

00:47:49.060 you know else who else could end the ukraine war in one day besides trump you could yeah every one of 0.97

00:47:57.620 you every one of you you just have to say this is what's going to happen i'm the president of the

00:48:03.300 united states this is over that you guys come here this is over this is basically what it's going to

00:48:10.260 look like you guys work out the details but it's over we're done trump could do that tomorrow so

00:48:18.580 there will be a desperation from democrats to get this solved which guarantees it gets all so in a way

00:48:28.980 trump has already ended the war in ukraine

00:48:34.020 i don't think that's too far i i believe that the existence of trump

00:48:38.820 as a guaranteed war ender like there's no question about it really he would end it really quickly

00:48:45.300 you know before when he said that i think it was reasonable to say he's exaggerating

00:48:50.500 because you still thought well maybe there could be some change in the front lines

00:48:54.900 and maybe that something would change it's too soon to say that but today no doubt about it

00:49:02.180 it's not even it wouldn't even take any trump superpower deal making it would just take

00:49:07.460 somebody to try basically so yeah that's a big problem for the demons

00:49:14.900 yeah what else is going on here

00:49:18.820 um

00:49:21.220 well that's about it that's about it did i miss anything

00:49:24.820 any news that i forgot to mention

00:49:33.460 yeah ukraine's running out of ammo everybody's

00:49:37.780 talking for a press secretary would be awesome

00:49:39.860 just let the russians win yes that is scott's response

00:49:48.260 did that sound like just let the russians win

00:49:51.940 or you mean in terms of the current uh boundaries oh yes yes i would let the russians win their current

00:49:57.780 boundaries yeah yeah i'm saying that unambiguously i'm definitely letting them win their current

00:50:03.780 boundaries you know why because ukraine and nato and the united states up we up yeah we basically gave

00:50:13.700 it to them created a situation by design we designed the situation that guaranteed

00:50:20.740 that russia would own those properties because it would become important to them more important

00:50:26.260 now i also don't care does anybody care if russian-speaking pro-russian territories are controlled by russia 0.71

00:50:37.780 ukraine is the most corrupt country on earth is russia worse than ukraine 1.00

00:50:43.780 no 0.88

00:50:45.300 would russia use that extra power they have in those extra 0.99

00:50:49.140 areas to conquer the world no no probably just be a pain in the ass for russia 0.97

00:50:56.260 so no i don't care i have no interest in who owns those 0.96

00:51:00.580 pieces of land there's no american strategic interest

00:51:08.660 all right time for putin to go that's the opposite of what's going to happen

00:51:12.820 putin won he's he's as solid as you can get

00:51:19.140 all right 0.99

00:51:28.900 death to amas death to terrorism 0.99

00:51:34.500 yeah i imagine putin's popularity will be through the roof

00:51:39.060 yep is vivek staying in the race well as far as we know i mean apparently did not qualify for the

00:51:46.580 next debate but i wouldn't be surprised if he counter programs that successfully

00:51:54.580 so don't be surprised if vivek is doing something to make some news sort of like trump does at the same

00:52:01.220 time that there's a debate

00:52:04.900 you know i would even i would even watch a program where vivek watches the debate with us

00:52:10.580 and then does you know mystery science theater uh kind of comments about how it's going wouldn't you watch that

00:52:21.220 i i would watch him commenting in real time on the debate that'd be fun

00:52:25.780 all right

00:52:33.220 uh security right

00:52:40.180 not according to peter's am i'm being told i don't know what that means i guess the russian situation

00:52:46.420 all right did you see the video which is a jordanian wedding in which the groom was shot

00:52:50.420 good lord why did trump say he was joking about the disinfectant well think it through

00:53:03.620 think it through answer your own question why did trump say he was joking about the disinfectants

00:53:10.420 what what was the alternative tell me the alternative

00:53:18.180 the alternative was for him to double down as light as a disinfectant inside the body do you think he

00:53:25.780 was prepared to do that do you think he felt confident enough that he remembered a tweet he saw three

00:53:32.580 months ago about light being a disinfectant i think he just wanted it to go away so he said that's just

00:53:39.940 joking what would you do what would you do in that situation i think you just try to make it go away

00:53:48.020 and so i think he was just trying to make it go away

00:53:55.540 all right um

00:53:58.580 prediction the fake will go on tim cast during the debate oh that wouldn't be a bad idea

00:54:04.340 yeah we talked about argentina and their departments illuminated um i think we got it all

00:54:15.220 i think we did it all all right for your uh pleasure um i did clip the part of my live stream where i

00:54:23.060 talked about organizing your brain into the executive and the other functions below it um

00:54:30.900 when i did that it's a reframe when i did that live i didn't know how much impact it would have on other

00:54:37.700 people but i immediately got incredible feedback that it changed people's entire outlook on reality

00:54:46.820 basically so i um i put a clip on the locals platform and also shared that i hope i made that

00:54:57.780 oh you know i might have shared it i think i shared it and made it locked at the same time

00:55:02.660 first thing i'll do when i'm done here is i'll make sure it's unlocked so that you can view it

00:55:07.460 because it does seem to be life-changing for some people and uh seven minutes will change your life

00:55:13.940 all right and that is all we have youtube thanks for joining make sure that you buy my book reframe
