00:05:59.460 way better than tapper we have owen gregorian and our friend of the show we love you so much we have

00:06:07.460 our special guest today joshua lisa joshua are you on mute okay so you guys yep we asked joshua to

00:06:20.180 come on today and he was excited because he's going to do um a lesson for us today at the scott adams

00:06:26.980 school so joshua take it away the floor is yours thank you erica it's good to see you all sergio

00:06:35.540 we got marcella we got oh and this is going to be a wonderful fantastic time together i am joshua

00:06:40.020 lisa also known as at joshua lisa i'm the editor publisher for scott adams and i'm also like scott

00:06:46.660 was a certified professional hypnotist and i'd like to introduce hypnosis hypnotic language hypnotic

00:06:53.540 applications into my books for on behalf of my clients because if you can induce a trance-like

00:06:59.140 state even in something like let's say a uh a non-fiction book about business then you can more

00:07:06.420 easily bring those new beliefs into someone so that they can be more productive and can more easily

00:07:13.460 implement your methods now i wanted to teach you based on reframing your brain of course that's a

00:07:18.820 famous book by scott obviously um i assisted him in that endeavor i was the contributing editor to

00:07:25.300 reframe your brain and i wanted to teach you all today take some time to teach you reframing 101 how

00:07:31.780 to actually do it how it actually uh works what reframing is is imagine a picture of the ocean okay

00:07:42.740 now imagine that that picture has a five dollar black and white walmart frame of course walmart's

00:07:49.940 prices are kind of weird so imagine it's four dollars and 93 cents for this for this frame it now looks and

00:07:57.460 feels like a cheap photo does it not now imagine now imagine that it has a one thousand dollar ornate

00:08:06.340 gold beautiful like clovers and leaves almost frame around it now it feels like a completely different

00:08:16.020 picture and if the ocean picture in our lives is metaphorically like our lives then by changing the

00:08:25.620 frame you change the experience of it so reframing is simply different uh different frames around events to

00:08:33.300 go from less productive to more productive thinking less useful to more useful experiences and of course

00:08:42.820 there are more than 160 reframes in reframe your brain that present new and more productive ways of

00:08:48.500 thinking feeling and being in your life and i wanted to teach you how to come up with your own yourself

00:08:55.220 in any area of your life that you need hence we don't have a whiteboard but we have using me my

00:08:59.700 me using my kids markers reframing 101 with joshua lisik we are now going to teach

00:09:08.340 in hypnosis and i want to teach a little bit about hypnosis as well right now

00:09:12.260 in hypnosis the reason that it works so well to create new experiences of course the number one

00:09:19.460 use case for hypnosis clinical hypnosis is smoking cessation so it's it's it's to it's to quit smoking

00:09:26.580 um and then is also losing weight they're sleeping better they're stressing less there's being more

00:09:32.260 productive i have a hypnosis audio program that is specifically covering sleep stress

00:09:40.020 overeating which is which is one of the contributing factors of obesity and also productivity all in one

00:09:45.140 and i cover everything all at once using a very simple metaphor um but you can come up with your own

00:09:52.660 yourself now when you think about what it is that you want to achieve you want to have more of

00:09:58.820 something you want to have less of something what we're really getting at is uh identity change

00:10:04.900 basically if you are a different person you get different results scott would always talk about the

00:10:11.940 folly of trying to uh will yourself into habit change habit transformation and just how difficult that

00:10:19.300 that truly was and he was of course correct about that if you try to just kind of white knuckle it

00:10:24.820 i'm gonna sit down here because i feel like the video is a little bit wobbly and i want to de de wobble

00:10:29.460 myself here i have a little uh camera stand here phone stand all right please confirm that that looks

00:10:37.380 acceptable for the lesson is that okay acceptable yes don't get any taller and don't turn on the fan

00:10:43.060 okay oh that would be kind of funny let's zoom push down a little bit there we go got one of my

00:10:48.340 kids toys behind me here that's a fun little dartboard it's great it's like little plungers highly

00:10:52.660 recommended for kids as opposed to the pointy dots reframe okay so if you want to have a new experience

00:11:00.740 in life what you need is a new identity around it and one of the biggest ones i hear is joshua how can

00:11:06.340 i be more productive in writing and write better and write more i just feel like i procrastinate and

00:11:11.220 writers rock and blah blah blah blah blah and i said well you you want to write that's the that's

00:11:15.860 the thing you want to write you're not actually a writer because writers just right it's just what

00:11:21.140 we do it's who we are and people will ask me about my my output on books and whatnot how many clients

00:11:28.820 i take how do you do that the question is not how it's who they'll say how do you do it and i said i'm

00:11:34.340 joshua isaac and they just sort of glitch for a second and say when it's when what you do is your

00:11:39.140 identity you don't have to think about it you don't have to have it max you don't have to create

00:11:43.620 some kind of funky routine or something or or try to you know let's try to build some uh

00:11:50.500 let's try to build uh shall we say uh atomic habits in our life the story of atomic habits and kind of

00:11:56.900 uh wheeling dealing and allegedly stealing some of scott's original ideas for that book it's kind of like

00:12:03.300 the greatest hits of how to fail at almost everything and still win big with james clear's name

00:12:07.780 on it in my opinion it was kind of kind of annoying um that's one of the reasons why scott is considered

00:12:14.100 the most influential personal development writer of all time and space it's because so many people

00:12:18.500 have just stolen his ideas i changed a few words and then put their name on it uh so it goes now about

00:12:25.460 reframing when it's just who you are you don't have to think about it and this is why hypnosis works so

00:12:31.540 well so fast so so fast for so many people for those just coming in i'm joshua lysek and joshua can

00:12:40.740 you point your camera down a little bit so we see more of you okay thanks oh there we go yeah yeah

00:12:47.380 we don't want to miss you yeah it would look really funky if it was um like like vertical vertical mode

00:12:53.140 because then you would completely cut everything off all right so i'm going to show you this process here

00:12:59.380 right now reframing 101 as i said so what the original reframing book teaches and it's called

00:13:09.140 the structure of magic by bandler and grinder they developed and sort of applied talk hypnosis model

00:13:16.020 called neurolinguistic programming or nlp back in the mid to late 70s and how that got started how

00:13:22.900 reframing was figured out was richard bandler who i had the opportunity to meet and train with him

00:13:27.620 personally that was wild experience like one of the most successful masters of human history

00:13:33.620 just casually chatting about how to deprogram liberals that was a fun time

00:13:38.740 of their terminal tds it couldn't can it be done yes it can

00:13:44.340 he richard bandler in college he had these talk therapy group sessions that were on tapes

00:13:51.620 as in it was actually tape remember those days when taping was a thing and his job as a student

00:13:58.180 student worker was to transcribe all of these talk therapy sessions so and that was back when you would

00:14:05.460 listen to it and you would like you know type out the transcript for right and that was his job i think

00:14:09.620 it was one of the professors at the time and over the course of all of these hours upon hours upon hours

00:14:14.660 of talk therapy sessions he noticed that there were patterns in the words he was typing the patterns were

00:14:21.620 some people had more productive ways of thinking about their issue and other people had less productive

00:14:29.060 ways and he noticed that the people who got better from the therapy used different words to describe it

00:14:34.820 or they were led to use different words while they were in sort of like that in the zone they were

00:14:41.140 in in train with the therapist they were in a hypnotic-like state in conversation

00:14:47.540 and by using different words to describe experience experiences their experiences changed

00:14:54.020 scott would talk about the user interface for reality he would talk about creating your reality

00:15:00.580 programming your reality reprogramming reprogramming your own reality and there is a fascinating

00:15:08.100 realization that bandler and grinder had which they wrote about in the book called the structure of

00:15:11.940 magic which was that there are certain native american tribes and this is to this day the case for various

00:15:18.500 locals original locals og locals uh in the developing world this one particular tribe that they studied

00:15:27.460 they had three words for all colors so all colors there's something like 30 000 different colors that can be

00:15:34.820 experienced by the human eye they described them only as one of three words and as a result the people

00:15:43.380 could only see three colors do we know those three words uh uh they're in the beginning of the structure of

00:15:52.580 magic and in in native american language it wouldn't necessarily mean us to if we're if we're not okay

00:15:57.860 and i'm not in my office at the moment this is home office experience hi everybody um yes but but one was

00:16:04.340 something i think one was like blue green and the other was like red all reds browns and oranges and

00:16:10.820 the other was something else right it's like collapsing reality just to three things and that you might say

00:16:17.140 is the word that they like to use was an impoverished reality if you're if you're using words that keep you from

00:16:25.460 unlocking freedom and having better experiences then you are experiencing an impoverished reality and so

00:16:33.060 that's kind of a stark example but that really is how words work if you're using words to describe

00:16:38.740 your experience then everything changes if you use different words right it's all downstream

00:16:45.300 and what the hypnosis session does in clinical hypnosis is when the person is induced and then

00:16:51.700 deepened into that trance-like state where they're highly suggestible it's kind of like a waking sleep

00:16:57.380 type of intentional zoning out we've all had it reading a great book or watching a riveting movie

00:17:03.860 or having a conversation with with a loved one we kind of just like zone out and we have we sort of lose

00:17:09.140 the sense of time passing that's a hypnotic state and so we go into and out of those at all times

00:17:14.900 and kids under five actually in hypnotic and highly suggestible state i just wanted to interject i actually

00:17:20.980 have the structure of magic in front of me and the three words are lock tit and to lock and lock

00:17:27.700 translates to red tit translates to green blue and to lock translates to yellow orange brown that's all

00:17:34.340 thank you owen yeah that's fine so so those are the three colors everything that you now see is one of

00:17:39.860 those three colors only and i think later in the book they talk about uh there's a different tribe that

00:17:45.220 they speak of i believe it's um a west african tribe where they they did not have words to describe

00:17:54.420 spring break isn't what it used to be it's better this spring stay three nights and get a 50

00:17:59.860 dollar best western gift card life's a trip make the most of it at best western visit bestwestern.com

00:18:05.860 for complete terms and conditions uh let's say fractions or fractional experiences so when they

00:18:15.540 would describe where let's just pick a random uh experience where the fruit is on the tree

00:18:23.300 it would just be the fruits at the top of the tree is it literally at the top well there are clusters of

00:18:28.660 fruit that are halfway at the top it would be top of tree it wouldn't be halfway so so fraction like

00:18:34.260 halfway uh almost all the way these sorts of specific descriptions of distance they did not have

00:18:42.100 words for and they did not therefore have experiences of them i could not live in this time frame yeah but

00:18:48.180 this is literally like the present day in certain parts of the world and i can't do it the og locals as 0.59

00:18:53.540 i as i described and and and then when you realize we're so smart well we have only three colors

00:19:01.460 colors for other parts of our experience and therefore we experience only those three colors

00:19:08.180 so we're analogous we're analogizing here which which does in fact work so let's say in a hypnosis

00:19:14.660 session you have been a smoker for 30 years and let's say you have been smoking a number of packs a

00:19:20.820 day and you just you want to stop you haven't only found the thing you've tried you tried the patches

00:19:24.660 you tried the gum you tried all these different things you tried cold turkey you tried this you tried

00:19:27.780 that you just keep going back well what happens in the in the hypnosis session is you are uh let's

00:19:34.260 say you go through the induction start to feel relaxed and kind of chill your conscious mind's

00:19:39.540 guard goes down a little bit okay this is great kind of like a guided visualization meditation type session

00:19:44.340 and almost like a a massage of some of some way it sort of feels like that the sort of bonding

00:19:50.100 experience with the skilled hypnotist and then don't worry we come into this you can create your own

00:19:55.940 reframed i have to set i have to set the stage for how this actually works and the hypnosis experience

00:20:00.500 because you can do it to yourself the inductions are followed by deepeners and funny enough if you

00:20:09.780 actually had a hypnosis session the practitioner will often use metaphors related to depth so they

00:20:16.980 will for example talk about how you're going deeper and deeper into the experience you're sinking

00:20:22.020 deeper and deeper into the chair so your body is physically telling you where it is that you're

00:20:26.100 going and they will also use visual metaphors of like going walking down flights of stairs walking

00:20:33.060 down your favorite path going down an elevator and watch the numbers you go deeper so the words that are

00:20:38.500 being used are creating an experience for your body and for your mind so right there we already have

00:20:44.660 words creating a new experience just from the words alone that the hypnotist is saying and once you're in

00:20:50.420 that state they will often begin to tell a a metaphorical story or use a number of analogies that

00:20:58.820 a five-year-old's mind can understand because the inner child we all have the experience of is our

00:21:05.220 subconscious mind our subconscious mind across all of us is approximately five years old in its

00:21:10.420 understanding of things so if you've ever talked to a five-year-old they need absolute precision

00:21:16.420 multi-sensory descriptions of things to know how it works they don't really do well with abstract or

00:21:22.500 theoretical or hypothetical or word salad as scott would always like to say has to be specific and

00:21:28.740 precise and tagged something real how does it look how does it feel these sorts of things that's why the

00:21:34.180 great best way to teach kids math is using like little magnets or numbers or physical items and the

00:21:40.820 same thing with like fractions or even algebra you can teach if you're using to young child if you're

00:21:46.020 using physical items to demonstrate differences and numbers and the numbering of things versus just

00:21:52.340 this is a one and one plus this sign is one because then that would be memorizing is not the math it's the

00:21:57.380 visual pattern we want the kids to take ownership of it and figure it out so that they can be an

00:22:02.820 independent learner sooner and so when we return to the hypnosis session that sort of multi-sensory

00:22:09.860 simulation will occur inside of the hypnosis session so inside the hypnosis session let's say

00:22:16.980 this person who has been a chain smoker for all these years while they're in that five-year-old inner

00:22:23.700 child suggestible uh state in the trance and which the subconscious mind becomes suggestible the

00:22:30.260 hypnotist will tell a story in which the person listening has a new identity has a new identity

00:22:37.780 just from the words alone and it's because they're thinking new things they have different feelings

00:22:42.820 about them they suggest different actions being taken and therefore different outcome and the identity

00:22:48.420 that is then given to the person in this trance is something like i am a non-smoker not i want to quit

00:22:57.700 i want to stop i want to those are negations okay those are negations those are all the things you

00:23:02.180 don't want to do like one of the worst one of the hardest ways to ever lose a single pound of unnecessary

00:23:07.300 fat is i don't want to be fat what did i just say i just said because five-year-olds have a hard time

00:23:13.860 with don't do that and it's like well you're just talking about what i shouldn't be doing but what

00:23:19.060 should i be doing instead you give me this is every parents have young children's experience

00:23:25.300 tell the kid not to do something you're just telling them to do it and then you think they're

00:23:29.220 trying to aggravate you but they may not actually get well what ought i be doing instead specific

00:23:34.660 precise instructions they make a mess they spill the piece and they spill the piece you know don't do

00:23:39.300 that rather that something like let's now pick up the peas and put them in this little container where

00:23:45.940 they go it's it's precise these peas over here for those who've come in a little bit late i'm joshua

00:23:51.460 at bicek and we're almost about to teach reframing 101 specifically with the steps and how you can do

00:23:56.740 it yourself but what i'm doing is explaining the hypnosis experience and why it works so well so

00:24:01.620 quick what affirmations do is it's effectively a micro hypnosis session a micro self-hypnosis section

00:24:09.300 session that you run it again and again we what scott would always do is say the things that you want

00:24:14.580 to be real like 15 times that was his method taught and reframe your brain and elsewhere in his work

00:24:18.900 but really it's the repetition that's key and so in the sets of suggestions that you'll be given by

00:24:25.860 your hypnotist that you're working with in the clinical environment they will tell you the same

00:24:31.060 thing in a bunch of different ways they will they will speak to you'll use visuals and metaphors for

00:24:36.100 the mind's eye to talk about how things sound in the mind's ear how it smells to you so to speak

00:24:42.100 metaphorically speaking for the mind's nose right the mind's eyes is not just the only thing that you have

00:24:48.100 you have the other senses for your subconscious runs a simulation of it the subconscious can't tell

00:24:55.300 the real from the imagined that's why when you're watching a movie and it's intense you feel it in

00:25:01.300 your body your subconscious mind because you're in a trance doesn't know the difference you think it's

00:25:05.540 happening to you this is why romance novels have been so attractive for so many generations of women 0.72

00:25:11.780 the writing is so multi-sensory that they feel like it's actually happening and they're actually

00:25:16.900 experiencing this affair in real life physiologically in that trance life state and many become addicted

00:25:22.980 to that experience much in the same way that for men uh adult content of course and i mean adult wink

00:25:28.980 wink uh family show uh the body thinks it's actually happening to them the subconscious mind thinks it's

00:25:36.980 real and that's how all strange let's call them tastes may develop with prolonged consumption of

00:25:44.820 adult entertainment because you are telling your subconscious this is what i like okay so then you

00:25:50.580 begin to change that you begin to move you begin to evolve yourself and change you're uh impoverishing

00:25:56.980 yourself over and over and over stop impoverishing yourself kids wink wink now because of that experience the

00:26:06.180 subconscious mind with this hypothetical person goes oh i am uh i'm a non-smoker now it's just

00:26:12.500 who i am they come out of the session new identity they forget that there's a lighter in the car and

00:26:17.940 that there's a pack of half half filled pack of cigarettes in there and they just forget because

00:26:22.740 i'm a non-smoker now what do i care that it's the identity change and reframing to create them for

00:26:28.820 yourself this goes it goes like this we'll hold it right up here for you so you can see it okay we're

00:26:33.460 going to be working down this list here so when you use new words to describe your experiences you

00:26:39.860 have new thoughts about them because what are thoughts but words frankly if you have new words

00:26:45.060 to describe your experiences for example i just want to lose weight i want to stop being fat for example

00:26:50.900 the words you're using inside of your brain are fat fat fat i feel like a fat person and therefore i do

00:26:59.460 things that result in me overeating as much as i want to use my willpower to stop and then my outcome

00:27:03.620 is i gain five pounds by on this diet okay if we use different words an affirmation might be i first

00:27:12.100 name last name and and then you use the body method next you're actually going for as your affirmation

00:27:18.180 use different words well if you if you use affirmations like that what's going to happen

00:27:23.140 is you're going to think over time and it can be a very short order that you're the type of person

00:27:28.980 who is this body mass index and what does that person feel like what do those thoughts feel like

00:27:33.860 thoughts drive feelings i love myself versus i hate myself just those words alone very different

00:27:39.620 feelings very different so thoughts become feelings feelings become actions i just just feel like doing it

00:27:46.660 is every experience feelings go directly to actions we buy on emotion justified with logic

00:27:53.140 at no point is anything like logic happening here okay and that's okay because five-year-old remember

00:27:59.300 abstract metaphors those sorts of things we have to speak with precision we have new outcomes

00:28:05.060 the things that we want and these four stages after the words make up our identity

00:28:10.740 i want to quit smoking i'm now thinking about smoking i feel like it's harder to resist i lose my willpower

00:28:15.860 i smoke and then now i have cancer okay let's say that's that's the lung cancer situation right from

00:28:20.580 a smoker i am a non-smoker i first name last name and a non-smoker now in a hypnosis session that's

00:28:27.620 skillfully implanted in the subconscious but you can use scott's 15 point affirmation experience to do this

00:28:34.900 and now you begin to think differently because now you're using different words to describe who you are

00:28:39.460 and you feel differently and then you act differently and then you have different outcomes

00:28:43.940 hypnosis sessions speed run this process into an hour and a half doing yourself it might take a little

00:28:51.700 bit longer i said i successfully was able to stop heavily drinking i was like one of those craft beer

00:28:59.140 millennial hipster types okay i was able to successfully stop that with this model in very short order as in 0.88

00:29:06.660 like one night of attempting this it was december 31st and january 1st 2022 to 2023 i did this in one

00:29:17.220 night i have some content on this um but this this can work for a number of things that you want to

00:29:21.780 achieve yourself use different words to describe how you feel and what you want to do use different

00:29:28.100 words everything changes so this is why it's so important to give yourself more than three colors

00:29:34.660 any questions about this or anything else before we move fully i love this so much words are so

00:29:42.100 important you guys and like your conscious mind doesn't understand sarcasm like it's very literal even

00:29:50.260 like i i am always thinking in sarcasm but i have to be careful because i know that my brain doesn't always

00:29:57.300 understand the joke so words matter and the other word i almost never use is try like well i'll try to

00:30:06.980 lose weight or i'm going to try to go to the gym that's just giving yourself permission not to do it

00:30:11.380 so to say like i'm going to try not to smoke well you just gave yourself permission to still smoke

00:30:15.780 so i i yeah yeah or i want to right i i want to do something so that i don't know if i zoomed out

00:30:24.340 like that because i don't know about so oh yeah you can see the cool little cool little kids dartboard

00:30:28.260 back there very cool that's because owen popped on oh okay so this is this is where i'll leave i'll

00:30:34.180 leave you all with and then i have to scoot um if you want something the words you use to describe that want

00:30:44.580 are so significant because if you say i want this well then to succeed at it is what is to just keep

00:30:54.580 wanting it it's not actually to have it you know if you are using identity language like become or be

00:31:03.300 or am those to be source of verbs those describe identity it looks like about 3 000 people have joined

00:31:10.340 since i kind of started my my spiel on reframing we're talking about reframing 101 i'm uh joshua

00:31:17.540 lisek there roma needs to add the names on this we know we are erica is a lovely hostess here um 1.00

00:31:24.980 yes so using different words to describe what it is that you want in the language of having an identity

00:31:32.100 new words different thoughts different feelings different actions different outcomes and that's how

00:31:36.500 reframing works imagine you have a fourth color in that native language of this this very california

00:31:42.260 indian tribe they now have new thoughts every time they see that color or even hypothetically

00:31:48.260 they now have some new feelings associated with that realization just they act differently so maybe

00:31:53.300 it's they create dyes from it and the different outcomes where now they have

00:31:56.340 unimproverished their culture's color experience

00:32:02.980 yeah any questions from anyone else who's here with us or shall i uh bid bid farewell for today

00:32:09.540 well i just want to say thank you first of all and i want to laugh because you know the reframes work

00:32:15.700 you guys so just uh behind the curtain as scott would say all of us here on the screen had dinner

00:32:23.940 together in san francisco area um when we went to scott's memorial service and it was just so funny

00:32:31.540 because the waiter came over and was like oh does anybody want to drink and you know we're all kind of

00:32:36.980 like looking around and nobody wanted a drink but after the waiter left and i was like were you all just

00:32:43.060 thinking like alcohol is poison and like nobody wanted to be like the one to be like i'll have a drink we

00:32:48.900 were all like nope alcohol is poison we don't want to drink but that reframe just sticks with you

00:32:54.420 and it was just a really funny moment where we just started laughing but yeah your words matter

00:33:00.180 and this list follows that exact process here so if you say alcohol is adult beverage

00:33:04.820 or it's alcohol is fun then you think about fun things and fun experiences

00:33:11.060 stuck in that winter slump try dove men plus care aluminum free deodorant

00:33:44.500 participating restaurants for limited time terms apply see up for details it's time for tim's

00:33:50.420 you feel like having fun you take the action the outcome is a hangover or let's say uh cirrhosis of

00:33:58.100 the liver poison i'm not poisons like other poisons like those blue frogs in south america i feel like

00:34:07.140 avoiding those blue frogs and never touching one never being in a situation where i'm near one

00:34:10.900 i am now acting as if beer is a poisonous blue frog from south america keep it behind glass don't

00:34:18.580 even touch it and i never that's how this works and you can do this for yourself in any area of your

00:34:25.620 life so the one thing i'll throw in as a technologist is um i have played with this with like ai like grok

00:34:32.580 where i've said you know give me a reframe for this and it seems to do a halfway decent job with

00:34:37.460 it without too much guidance and with all the stuff you just gave us it seems like a set of rules that

00:34:42.820 you can teach a gpt or a grok to do and maybe be able to just feed it here's my current frame give me

00:34:51.460 the reframe maybe tell it what outcome you're looking for or something have you tried that or do you think

00:34:56.100 that would work i have yes and i think what it's it will try to be sophisticated what you need to

00:35:02.740 focus on is what is the outcome that you will not give me a usual frame versus reframe style scott

00:35:09.060 on the formula it doesn't quite figure it out if you explain uh grok here's how reframing works

00:35:15.860 the outcome that i want is this how i currently think about it is this give it the words use to think

00:35:21.940 about and explain the process of the outcome what words give me a new identity set that result in a

00:35:29.700 new outcome and then say follow the usual frame versus reframe formula usual frame the usual words

00:35:35.780 you're currently using now give me the reframe with different words following this process and i believe

00:35:41.700 that that will get you there and with that i have the scoop for today but but first i'll give one

00:35:46.020 question like marcella has one question for us there's like several questions but maybe we'll ask you

00:35:51.060 uh off you know um yes at me on x or uh or just dm me directly at josh lesdick if if you have any

00:35:59.540 questions about this and make sure you take your screenshot of it right now there it is there you

00:36:04.020 are a couple will be taking a screenshot yeah even better you guys screenshot yeah you guys even better

00:36:10.820 um homework assignment if those who want to participate create a reframe using what joshua taught

00:36:19.380 you today and tag joshua like make a post about it and say this was the uh current thought and this

00:36:26.100 is how i came to a reframe and he'll look them over and and let you know like i think that's a good

00:36:31.780 practice and don't don't have embarrassment remember this is like a non-embarrassment zone okay just give

00:36:38.820 it a try and then maybe you're going to get pointers from an expert and that would be amazing we'd love to see

00:36:43.700 it that's right that's right and and and lastly the key the homework again as as erica is saying is

00:36:51.940 your usual frame versus reframe the usual frame is the thing that you're thinking and kind of stuck

00:36:56.340 on and then the reframe are the new words that create the identity set resulting in new outcome

00:37:02.420 and it's like usual frame i want to stop smoking reframe i'm a non-smoker for example as an

00:37:09.140 example that wouldn't be necessarily one that you would teach other people but it would be one for

00:37:12.820 you for yourself hypnosis experience and how what what is the what does a non-smoker think about

00:37:18.020 because of that well they don't think about smoking they think about doing other things with their

00:37:21.140 time when they need a break right they go on a walk instead of just standing outside in the cold

00:37:25.540 smoking a joint right or whatever you spoke with um they do feelings and actions and outcomes

00:37:31.140 associated with that hypnosis speed runs that process but affirmations are a way of

00:37:36.740 reframing yourself yeah thank you joshua it's my pleasure thank you all and again we'll talk to

00:37:44.420 you soon get your homework at joshua on x take care we'll post your link okay he had to run

00:37:51.140 dad duty he is a busy busy guy so we appreciate him coming on here you guys so we're gonna shift to some

00:37:58.740 news and owen has uh picked out some great stories for us to talk about and uh don't you guys love

00:38:06.500 sergio's new background and owen's new background we look we look extra super smart but you know

00:38:13.620 so oh go ahead what do you have for us well speaking of embarrassment free zone i think we can

00:38:18.500 start with the story that some people requested we talk about um doctors found a live world war

00:38:24.180 one artillery shell in a man's rectum in france a 24 year old man sparked an evacuation in a french

00:38:31.620 hospital after they found an eight inch long world war one artillery shell in his rectum 0.64

00:38:38.020 okay rectum damn near killed him sorry i had to say there owen how did it get there 0.78

00:38:44.660 well i i think they at least suspect that he put it there um i don't think they did speculate as to

00:38:50.900 why but you probably all have something in your mind about why he might have done that they they

00:38:55.460 the media speculated it might have something to do with his social life but that's as far as they

00:39:01.060 went with that they did that's good medical staff are accustomed to treating victims injured during

00:39:06.740 sexual games so it could be something along those lines what do you think you think i just i just imagine

00:39:13.940 the bomb defusing guy you know like they call him up it's like hey we have a a bomb we have like a

00:39:19.540 possible explosion when you need you to come over and they're on the way you know like oh i'm so

00:39:24.340 excited my first day of the job and uh they're like well good news is that you know it's not a big

00:39:31.380 bomb but you know what it is you know that would be a big surprise for me if i had to like go in there

00:39:37.380 and retrieve a bomb from uh from a rectum you know so yeah do you think the bomb sniffing dog could have 0.95

00:39:42.820 found it that's a good one maybe i like the way sergio says rectum

00:39:53.300 yes yeah it makes it sound better does this microphone work well people because i have a new

00:40:00.820 microphone yeah good yeah all right all right um this is a story that actually seemed to have gone

00:40:08.820 viral when i posted it nearly 40 percent of stanford undergraduates claim they're disabled

00:40:13.860 the article was actually written by somebody who was one of those people uh they explained that they

00:40:18.580 actually do have uh i think it was like endometriosis or something some real condition um but the person's

00:40:26.100 explaining that it's you know it's almost half the people in stanford do that and the reason this

00:40:31.380 person claimed their disability at stanford was that they discovered from someone else

00:40:37.620 that if you did say you were disabled you could get your own dorm room have a single room and you

00:40:42.900 could have the nicest building on campus and you could get extra time on your tests and you could

00:40:47.620 get exempted from some of the academic requirements and get basically the first class easy easy mode

00:40:54.020 treatment by just saying you're disabled um and so you know that's currently 2850 students out of 7500 at

00:41:03.140 stanford um that get all these accommodations and things i'm not surprised i'm not surprised though and

00:41:11.380 um i used to tutor um not anymore but like for ib league school uh high school um like different

00:41:23.780 people that went to ivy league schools one of the things they told me for the sat is that they would

00:41:29.620 have a doctor say they're disabled because that would give them more time and organization

00:41:34.740 so all of these people who went to harbor who i helped tutor would would let me know that they had like

00:41:46.820 so for my perspective they already had those for test purposes yeah i mean it could be and it does say

00:42:01.620 in the article that a lot of these are mental conditions probably most of them um like adhd or

00:42:07.380 anxiety and those are things that are really hard to diagnose or maybe too easy to diagnose um i've

00:42:13.780 certainly had some experience knowing that people can just literally walk into a regular doctor not

00:42:17.860 like a psychiatrist or any specialist and just say i have trouble focusing you know and and that's about

00:42:23.860 all it takes to get prescribed adhd drugs and it's pretty amazing how easy it is to get ritalin or you know

00:42:31.620 whatever it is you're looking for and that's you know that's probably enough for a lot of these colleges

00:42:36.820 you know there are more sophisticated tests and i know some people who have gone through that process

00:42:42.420 to actually get diagnosed by a specialist and they it is a rigorous process i'm aware of what that

00:42:48.980 consists of and so you can have like a you know a test that shows how you do on a test when you have

00:42:55.300 a time limit versus when you don't have a time limit um and you know there are ways to pinpoint what

00:43:02.740 the issue is mentally but a lot of people don't even go through all that and i think these um

00:43:08.260 just say disability agencies i guess i'll call them at these colleges i think also have an incentive

00:43:17.140 to just hand out these accommodations like the i don't think they're very rigorous in saying you

00:43:22.260 need proof from a doctor or you need some test or some process you have to go through that they're

00:43:29.620 you know the way they would put it is we're here to help people so we're just trying to help people but

00:43:33.220 i think the reality is also that if you just look at it from an incentives perspective as scott often

00:43:37.380 does the more disabled people they're quote unquote helping the more of those disability people you

00:43:43.380 need and the bigger the department grows and the more money they get right yeah so if you go up to

00:43:48.900 40 of the campus suddenly you're a massive agency that needs lots of resources and um everything

00:43:55.860 ends up catering to all these kids that have i thought like half of the college students were

00:44:00.980 already mentally disabled anyways you know just by well i mean we can connect this story to that

00:44:08.420 other story that says something like half of liberal people say they have a mental health issue right

00:44:14.980 a massive percentage of them say that and this could be a factor in that they might be doing that

00:44:19.780 because it gives them an advantage right that's right so pretty amazing kind of a scandal um you

00:44:29.060 know i don't know what should be done about it other than that i would say that it's pretty terrible

00:44:34.100 because i think it takes away resources from the people who do have legitimate disabilities um you

00:44:39.540 know there are people that do have mental disabilities or physical disabilities that do require accommodations

00:44:44.980 to put them on an even playing field with everyone else but if you give it to everybody then you're

00:44:49.620 not making it an even playing field and you're also kind of neutering the educational process

00:44:55.220 to the point where what happens to these kids when they get out in the real world and they get a job

00:44:59.380 employers don't give accommodations for things like this i mean they do have to abide by the

00:45:05.460 disabilities act but i think in most cases you know they're not going to be as liberal or as easy as

00:45:11.940 giving these things out and if you can't do the job because you've never been put under time pressure

00:45:16.900 or you've never had to meet a deadline then how are you going to do that in real life right kind of a

00:45:22.740 real open question in my mind yeah i agree so between the chinese students and then the just

00:45:29.300 disabled students like you know there's always one group getting shafted you know i i have to say the sad

00:45:36.020 part is that when i was tutoring um not the very rich but just like middle class kids they actually

00:45:46.100 did have uh disabilities but their parents weren't aware of these accommodations they could get and so

00:45:55.620 they would not get them so it's sad to see that because um that's a lot of us like i didn't even know you could

00:46:02.820 get that for like the bar exam uh i would have liked to have had more time doing my bar exam or

00:46:10.900 the sat or something else but it wasn't known to us it was like only the very like elite know the system

00:46:20.020 and they know how to work it and i don't disagree like they're smart about it you know but it doesn't

00:46:26.820 it doesn't uh like apply to everybody that has these disabilities right

00:46:34.900 all right all right well um moving into the ai is taking over the world theme that we often come

00:46:41.940 back to uh there's an interesting article i posted called your job isn't disappearing it's shrinking

00:46:46.660 around you in real time um and it's an interesting article i'd suggest you read it it's kind of long but

00:46:52.100 i think it's worth it and the reason i say that is that it kind of walks through what's happening

00:46:56.900 i think and it also talks about how to best deal with it because i think the first thing that i

00:47:02.900 thought was valuable is it goes through the like three approaches i think they used that were that

00:47:07.140 don't work and and some of those are probably the things everyone's thinking they need to do like

00:47:12.340 well maybe i need to focus on soft skills or maybe i need to um you know like try to figure out what's

00:47:19.300 the human part of my job or you know maybe i can double down on my strengths or things like that

00:47:26.980 and those things generally don't work because the ai agents and ai is kind of rapidly taking over a lot

00:47:32.340 of those things and it's not really going to help you to just retreat into one little part of your job

00:47:38.180 and i think the advice it gives you and i don't know if this is going to work or not but it does seem

00:47:43.140 like a better idea to me is that to sort of win under this scenario what you can do is to say build

00:47:49.460 a new role where you're the orchestrator of the ai and you're using the ai to get to like impossible

00:47:56.580 scale like an example that uses running 50 campaign marketing campaigns at once and so if you can

00:48:03.940 identify something that like where he suggests to start is to say if you can identify something that if

00:48:09.300 you could do 10 times as much of it it would be really valuable to do that but up until now without

00:48:15.380 ai you can only do a certain amount of it but you're limited in terms of how much you can do

00:48:19.460 that if you can figure out how to use ai to 10x that task then you can figure out how to scale it and have

00:48:26.980 massive results right and find the patterns and then um pitch those new capabilities to your boss and

00:48:33.220 say hey i can do 10 times as much now look what i can do i can add all this value by using ai to do this

00:48:38.660 new task where i'm running the ai but i'm able to orchestrate all these agents and use them to scale

00:48:44.900 what i'm doing to something that current you know previously was impossible um and and that would be

00:48:51.700 one way of kind of mastering the ai as opposed to just having your job disappear what do you guys think
