Real Coffee with Scott Adams - Episode 825 Scott Adams： Heavily Medicated But Not Down

00:00:00.000 hey everybody come on in here sure some people take sick days but I don't if I

00:00:20.520 break a leg I go right on stage so it doesn't matter how bad I feel I'm here

00:00:28.560 for you is that right DJ Dr. Funk Juice good to see you always good to see you and the rest of you

00:00:35.680 would you like to join me in this very special version of the simultaneous sip I think you would

00:00:42.340 yeah wait hold on hold on don't go too quickly first make sure you have the right ingredients

00:00:49.340 you need a cup or a mug or a glass a tank or chalice or stein a canteen jug or flask a vessel

00:00:53.600 of any kind fill it with your favorite liquid I like coffee and join me now and I'm not cornholio

00:01:03.080 and I know some of you know what that means join me now for the simultaneous sip it's the unparalleled

00:01:09.120 pleasure the dopamine hit of the day the thing that makes everything better go

00:01:12.560 wait what oh that's all I needed now I feel great for a moment there I thought I was sick

00:01:30.180 no I just didn't have enough coffee I hope that's not happening to any of you

00:01:35.680 feel better now all right let's talk about the news I love it when Trump fills a news cycle

00:01:45.780 man that man knows how to fill a news cycle so he's uh he was heading off I guess he was at the

00:01:52.720 Andrews Air Force Base and he happens to just drop this little gem that he knows the identity of

00:01:59.260 Anonymous the author of this tell-all book that said bad things about his administration now the

00:02:06.140 thing I love about that is that maybe he knows the identity of Anonymous maybe he doesn't but I'll

00:02:18.380 tell you what he does know suspense the man knows suspense and uh the fact that he would just put that

00:02:28.460 out there you know there's gonna be a good surprise coming have you noticed all the firing and stuff

00:02:35.220 that I'm doing lately yep I know who Anonymous is now if he doesn't know who Anonymous is Anonymous

00:02:43.320 just turned on the tv and it was flipping through the channels just sitting at home drinking a beer or

00:02:48.780 whatever Anonymous does might be a sock involved I don't know just just saying we don't know

00:02:56.060 and Anonymous turns on the tv and there's the president of the United States looking at the

00:03:02.520 camera and saying yeah I know who Anonymous is

00:03:05.020 wouldn't that just ruin your whole day now that's that's the beauty of it the beauty of it is he might

00:03:14.580 know and that would be interesting and it would be twice as fun that he teased it and makes us think

00:03:21.840 oh he knows he knows does he know you know makes us talk about it the man knows how to put on the show

00:03:27.340 but even better if he doesn't know if he doesn't know Anonymous is just like uh you know booking a flight

00:03:36.280 out of the country right now that's one of the funniest things he's ever done all right

00:03:42.620 so I guess Trump is uh is pardoning and granting clemency to a bunch of ne'er-do-wells who are uh who 0.94

00:03:53.140 probably you know there's going to be some debate about how reasonable these were now the the uh the

00:04:00.720 power that the president has for this stuff uh the clemency and the pardons and stuff it's a real

00:04:07.340 interesting law because I can't think of any other law uh or constitutional right or power or anything

00:04:15.760 I can't think of any other where where we expressly say you don't have to give a good reason

00:04:21.680 you know pretty much our entire system of government is set up around the notion

00:04:26.780 well you need to have a reason it's okay to be wrong but you still have to state your reasons

00:04:33.820 right you got to tell us why you're doing it and then if you get it wrong we'll decide at the

00:04:39.580 voting booth or or when we pass a law or whatever we'll decide later so being wrong isn't the worst

00:04:46.420 thing but you got to tell us why you're doing stuff but you don't have to with these pardons and

00:04:52.120 clemencies you can just pick you can pick something that looks like the worst idea in the world

00:04:56.820 to absolutely everybody else do it anyway and then the public says ah well you do have that right

00:05:05.220 it's a weird little law here's what I think is happening so um as has been already reported some of

00:05:14.820 these some of these situations have some connection to Trump or Rudy Giuliani so they're they're the people

00:05:21.960 being um pardoned and the clemencies they have connections to the the Trump world in some way

00:05:28.380 so that makes sense and again it's a weird little law you know if you said should it be right that all

00:05:37.500 these pardons are going to Trump you know related people meaning people who know the family or know

00:05:43.960 Rudy Giuliani or or they were on the apprentice you know stuff like that is that right well most people

00:05:50.820 say oh that doesn't seem fair let's let's adjust that but it's the one case where it just doesn't

00:05:56.380 matter now I think that beyond the fact that it's servicing some allies like Rudy Giuliani um I think

00:06:06.000 the other thing it does is it creates a context doesn't it have you noticed that I think while we're

00:06:14.480 arguing in the weeds we're going to be arguing about each of these pardons hey does that you know

00:06:20.400 Bernie Carrick guy does does he deserve a clemency or whatever it was I'm confusing all the terms but

00:06:28.380 you know what I'm talking about um and then we're going to talk about blogovich did he serve enough

00:06:34.180 time and all that so we're going to be talking about the details but the bigger picture is Trump

00:06:40.320 is creating a a context for pardons which is some of these are going to be pretty controversial

00:06:47.720 controversial so don't be surprised don't be surprised because there might be some more

00:06:55.320 let's say controversial ones coming up soon you might have a little controversy coming your way so

00:07:03.360 rather than give it to you you know when you're not ready for it let's uh let's toughen you up a

00:07:09.180 little bit how about this blogovich how about blogovich blogovich was a democrat right am I right

00:07:18.160 fact check me on that I'm assuming he was a democrat but um I'm not up on my blogovich history

00:07:25.640 and so that would be a good little context to put out there it's like yeah I'm going to do some

00:07:32.660 controversial ones I believe he also did three pardons or clemencies or whatever it was probably

00:07:38.340 pardons that were recommended by uh Alice Johnson the first woman that got out under the the uh prison 0.96

00:07:46.680 reform stuff so so there are two categories think about this just think think about the the larger feel

00:07:56.320 of it you know just rise up above the details of who got who these people were and what their crimes

00:08:01.440 were etc and think about there were two classes of people one were people who had a connection to

00:08:07.100 something in the Trump you know universe and the other was uh probably african-american prisoners I

00:08:14.480 don't know the details of whoever Alice um Johnson recommended so think about that the the inner circle now

00:08:22.920 includes um a collection of uh black prisoners so he sort of lumped you know people I have a connection

00:08:32.140 with with Alice Johnson and and the people she's recommending they're somehow in your mind now

00:08:38.640 it's one category because they happened about the same time which is kind of brilliant because you say

00:08:45.060 you know what team is Trump on you say well he's on the team of the people who are getting stuff right

00:08:50.820 so you know Blagovich must be on the team but so are these prisoners who are getting out that were

00:08:57.320 recommended by Alice seems like they're all the same team right they're all that you know they're all

00:09:03.480 the good the good side so there's something kind of subtly brilliant about what this does to the context

00:09:11.380 because it opens up the possibility for obviously a Flynn Stone and you know it's getting very close

00:09:19.200 very close to the point where he could he could flip the switch on Manafort without causing a revolution

00:09:25.900 I don't think Manafort could get pardoned without you know too big of a political reaction I think that

00:09:34.800 would be too far but Stone and Flynn the president could do easily I think that there would be no problem

00:09:41.980 now that especially now that he's created this other context and I love the fact that he doesn't seem to

00:09:50.560 be caring too much about re-election right because you wouldn't do any of these if re-election were your

00:09:57.920 primary objective so so it's got to be some bigger play or a complete lack of worry about getting re-elected

00:10:07.000 I don't know about that all right in other news there's a tragic story of a a stunt woman 0.99

00:10:13.780 attacked her ex-husband and was shot and killed or was she

00:10:22.060 all right I'll just let you think about that one all right uh Tom Cotton is getting some press

00:10:30.140 um and of course all of the press that Tom Cotton is getting is people taking him out of context and

00:10:37.080 willingly misinterpreting what he's saying so what Tom Cotton is saying is that the coronavirus

00:10:45.120 um is coincidentally or maybe not very close to the Wuhan you know bioweapons center and we can't rule out 0.96

00:10:55.420 any anything as a cause so this is turned into this is how Fox News wrote this headline

00:11:03.320 it said Senator Tom Cotton stands by startling theory on coronavirus origins he stands by his

00:11:12.540 startling theory what startling theory Tom Cotton said clearly consistently and repeatedly

00:11:22.700 we don't know where it came from so we better keep all the possibilities open and one of them we can't

00:11:29.680 rule out yet is there's there's a facility just down the road and that would be a big coincidence

00:11:35.380 now is that a startling theory or is that simply a statement of fact we don't know where it came from

00:11:42.520 this thing hasn't been ruled out I'm not ruling it in I'm just saying it's not ruled out

00:11:49.100 and that turned into a startling theory that's not even close to what he's saying

00:11:54.440 now you could argue that it is not let's say that it's not good leadership form to put that idea out

00:12:04.180 there without a little more meat on the bones I think that would be a reasonable criticism I don't know

00:12:10.260 if I'd agree with it because I think the information is already out there the internet was been has been

00:12:15.420 bubbling with this forever so I'm not sure in this case he's really adding any information to

00:12:20.600 what's sort of bubbling around out there but you know maybe you could argue that senators shouldn't

00:12:26.620 put something out there without a little bit more meat

00:12:28.660 then I saw Martha McKellen push back on him in a video interview and was pointing out that the experts

00:12:38.540 say there's nothing about the coronavirus that it's DNA there's nothing about it that suggests

00:12:45.040 it's engineered now some of you heard a very early report that said hey this thing looks engineered

00:12:51.360 it's got some parts in it that it shouldn't have but that turned out just to be wrong and other people

00:12:57.000 have looked at it now and there's nothing in it just nothing that would suggest it's man-made

00:13:01.020 so does that rule out the Wuhan weapons research place I would say no because if I were a weapons

00:13:12.700 research place would I not also have a division that was working on cures right that doesn't it make

00:13:21.920 sense that you would be working on if you had a research place that was making these kinds of

00:13:27.720 weapons wouldn't you also have you know in the same building even some people working on the

00:13:33.880 anti-notes and the cures and and even some people may be researching what if this got out and here's

00:13:41.000 the here's the provocative part that I'm going to add so I'm not a senator so I can add some conspiracy

00:13:46.640 theories to the the water but remember consider the source I don't know what I'm talking about

00:13:52.120 so if you believe anything that comes out of my mouth next well that's sort of on you

00:13:57.560 and here and it goes like this and I'm just brainstorming the possibilities it seems entirely

00:14:07.460 reasonable to me that if I were a Chinese bioweapon research facility I would want to know about any 0.98

00:14:15.680 kind of biological agent if that's even the right word any biological thing that could affect my

00:14:24.660 people more than other people so if there were something even if it existed in the wild which by

00:14:31.680 its nature I knew there was something about it that likely would kill more people of let's say

00:14:37.040 Chinese ethnicity than people of let's say Russian ethnicity just to pick two random ethnicities

00:14:43.420 wouldn't I want to research that in my bioweapon lab because if if worse came to worse in some

00:14:50.220 kind of major war and the other team released this thing you know the Russians would get a bad cold 0.65

00:14:56.760 and we would be dying by the millions so shouldn't I research that so I can work on a cure

00:15:03.600 find out if there's anything that could be done about it learn everything I can so it seems reasonable

00:15:09.220 that a weapons research place would want to know about any naturally occurring virus that had that

00:15:16.060 special quality now we don't know we do not know or be clear we do not know that it has that quality

00:15:24.700 we do know that there's a dog that's not barking which is I keep waiting for the confirmation that a

00:15:32.960 let's say a healthy 40 year old you know black caucasian hispanic man died from the virus

00:15:41.720 so I would like to hear the first case where somebody died outside of the that the circle there

00:15:50.500 so anyway I think Senator Tom Cotton is certainly in controversial territory

00:15:56.480 but I wouldn't call it his startling theory he's just saying we don't know

00:16:00.380 Senator Chris Murphy met with some Iranian leadership folks and that story got broken

00:16:09.620 was it Molly Hemingway that broke it I don't know the origins of it she might have been the first

00:16:15.460 but if I give if I gave wrong credit somebody will tell me

00:16:19.720 and of course that looks like a violation of the Logan Act which says that no American who is not

00:16:29.240 the president basically or authorized by the president that nobody else can go negotiate with another

00:16:36.000 country so here's the question was Senator Chris Murphy negotiating and pursuing public policy

00:16:45.740 on his own which would be a clear violation of the Logan Act or was he just doing what senators do

00:16:54.040 because senators do meet with foreign leaders on the regular that's not even unusual so I feel like

00:17:03.280 we're in this weird world where a crime is defined by which team you're on and where we don't even

00:17:12.440 pretend that that's not the case anymore I feel as though we used to do a better job of pretending

00:17:17.980 that we would look at the facts of crimes and you know well if the facts are there and a jury of your

00:17:23.980 peers finds you guilty and all that but I feel like we've just departed that world and if you're on one

00:17:30.000 team you can just do stuff that the other team goes to jail for and we'll and we don't even hide it

00:17:36.280 anymore it's just like right out in the open it's like oh yeah yeah obviously our team can go meet

00:17:42.560 with the Iranian leaders I don't see anything wrong with that that's just a senator just talking to

00:17:48.360 somebody but if a Republican did it I don't know I think it would look different so I typically and I 0.98

00:17:57.280 hope you appreciate this by the way on my periscopes I try to avoid the old oh you know you're a hypocrite 0.95

00:18:05.020 because you say this but I say that because that's the easiest thing in the world if you're if you're 0.98

00:18:09.580 looking at politics and you're accusing one side of being a hypocrite it's just a waste of

00:18:16.340 communication because that's just the given that would be sort of like talking about the weather and

00:18:22.840 every day you say and today there's breathable oxygen because there's always breathable oxygen

00:18:28.820 you know maybe you leave that part out anyway uh let's talk about something else um Bernie is saying

00:18:38.720 that Fox News has been more fair to him than MSNBC now I think that most of you on this periscope

00:18:47.520 are sort of in on the prank if you know what I mean because you know that there are a lot of Trump

00:18:55.920 supporters who are saying really nice things about Bernie because they wouldn't mind Trump matching

00:19:03.940 up with Bernie in the general election and they certainly wouldn't mind causing some trouble with

00:19:09.080 the Democrats by by stirring up the the feeling that Bernie is going to get uh get robbed again for

00:19:17.080 the second time so when Bernie says that Fox News is being nicer to him than MSNBC it sort of loses that

00:19:25.800 the the the prank aspect of it you know yeah you have to understand the prank part of it because

00:19:33.920 there are an awful lot of people who are wink wink super Bernie supportive um because that Bernie he's

00:19:42.920 consistent let me say Bernie's authentic and he's got have you heard he's got an army of supporters

00:19:50.700 they're very enthusiastic and and have you heard that because Trump wasn't expected to win

00:19:58.180 therefore logically if another person is not expected to win he's going to win you get that

00:20:04.840 right the logic of that how that all fits together if one person did something unexpected and he's a

00:20:11.140 completely different person in a different situation in a different year in a different party

00:20:15.540 with all different variables so if that person did it logically qed then Bernie's going to be the

00:20:24.920 next president makes sense to you doesn't it totally totally logical so I think you just have to

00:20:32.940 understand that I think Trump has uh let's say led by example to the point where many of his

00:20:41.600 followers followers kind of understand the prank without having to be told now I'm hearing people

00:20:49.280 warn us uh us being people who seem to be in on the joke warn us that oh be careful what you wish for

00:20:57.820 because remember remember the Democrats were playing the same dangerous game with Trump

00:21:03.180 they were they were saying yeah why don't you why don't you nominate Trump that'll be great

00:21:07.760 no way he's going to win and then he won so you know same thing could happen with Bernie right

00:21:12.280 same thing makes sense because analogies definitely predict the future except they never do because

00:21:19.600 history doesn't repeat that is loser think I've got a good book for you if you need if you need to

00:21:25.480 know more about loser think right over there right over there in the middle of the screen 0.98

00:21:30.340 um so here's uh here's the I don't know I had some pointos coming to um so we've got uh Bernie who's uh

00:21:47.260 who's uh uh I'll get back to that um I love the fact that Bernie is calling Bloomberg a racist and

00:21:56.300 he's accusing him of buying the nomination because the longer that goes on the more Trump is getting

00:22:03.240 his uh campaign ad written for him because all all he has to do is take all the clips of Bernie

00:22:09.220 saying that Bloomberg is buying the election and that he's just a billionaire buying the election and

00:22:15.340 that uh he's a he's a racist because of stop and frisk and just just play that in the loop because if it

00:22:22.100 comes from Trump people turn it off you know before they hear it if it comes from Bernie it's going to

00:22:27.740 remind all the Bernie bros who were disappointed here here I'm thinking ahead and assuming that

00:22:33.120 Bloomberg got the got the nomination um which by the way it looks like that's what's going to happen

00:22:39.120 so I love the fact that Bloomberg will be so damaged by Bernie that if he gets the nomination he's

00:22:47.700 going to be limping into the general election um Elizabeth Warren seems to have lost her voice 0.99

00:22:57.200 like actually some kind of laryngitis thing and oh my god it's it's hard to hear her talk now I

00:23:05.780 don't know what she's going to do with the debate by the way is the debate tonight or is that tomorrow 0.82

00:23:10.860 what night is the debate tonight right um I don't know what she's going to do because she literally 1.00

00:23:16.920 you know can't really get out with sentences without hurting herself but what a time to lose your

00:23:22.920 voice so unfortunately it matches her drop in the polls so her drop in the polls and then she loses

00:23:30.760 her voice and it just looks like you know maybe she has another couple weeks in her and that's it

00:23:35.940 um here's a uh kill shot for Trump let's say Bloomberg gets the nomination

00:23:44.340 and Trump wants to create ads that uh that target him and you know Trump likes to do the fun ones

00:23:53.880 not just policy stuff but you know the things that uh evoke their nicknames things that are funny etc

00:24:01.120 and I've been watching a lot of clips of Bloomberg lately just because it's all over the news

00:24:07.020 and here's the thing I noticed that no matter who he's with doesn't matter what the what the person is

00:24:14.340 he looks awkward have you noticed that if you see Bloomberg um greeting somebody on stage or

00:24:22.680 or shaking hands with somebody or just sort of pressing the flesh with the people trying to give

00:24:27.920 somebody a hug it all looks really awkward now as soon as you put that out there it like the the

00:24:38.400 first time that Trump this is hypothetical so just think through it the first time that Trump um

00:24:46.000 tweets that that Mike Bloomberg is awkward meeting people because maybe he doesn't like him that much

00:24:54.000 that's all you would see you would never see anything else except him awkwardly trying to hug people

00:25:01.580 and not knowing what to do and the beauty is once you've been accused of uh you know sexism

00:25:10.180 he has to be careful how he interacts with any woman in public you know think about Biden poor Biden had 0.90

00:25:17.400 to completely change what he does in public because all the accusations of you know hair smelling and

00:25:22.680 what not and he it looks like he changed his act so he just became a little more traditional that way

00:25:29.180 than a little less Joe Biden but imagine if Bloomberg had to battle against the um the let's say the

00:25:38.580 accusation that he's awkward with people because he doesn't like them like that he just doesn't like

00:25:44.340 people every time you saw it you'd say to yourself wait a minute does he look like he's being

00:25:50.780 awkward with this person because he doesn't like people and I have no reason to think that anything

00:25:56.300 like that is true by the way I kind of like Mike Bloomberg like I don't I don't have any negative

00:26:01.760 thoughts about him whatsoever but I think he'd be really uh vulnerable to that that idea um

00:26:09.760 here's uh here's what I tweeted this just before I got on Periscope so it's a scientific fact in the

00:26:19.840 world of persuasion that people are more influenced by the risk of losing what they already have

00:26:25.360 than by the opportunity that they might get something that's you know cool and good in the

00:26:30.440 future so people will fight harder they're more motivated to keep what they already have

00:26:35.380 than to get new so if you take that as a given then look at these three candidates uh Bernie

00:26:42.720 um Bloomberg and Trump let's let's assume I'm thinking too far ahead but let's assume that

00:26:50.240 some combination of them are in the general election you'd be asking yourself what are they

00:26:55.640 going to take away now the thing that Bernie risks taking away is your economy right I mean the Bernie plan

00:27:04.700 is so extreme that it actually risks your whole economy you could lose your at the very least you would

00:27:11.820 lose it the way it was so all the people who thought it was good for them the way it was are

00:27:16.940 going to be losing something and it's money and it might be the entire economy it might be the future

00:27:22.120 so that's a lot to potentially lose how about Bloomberg well he's the whole reason he's running is he thinks

00:27:30.340 Bernie would destroy the economy too so he's not going to take away your money and in fact who knows

00:27:36.620 he might actually do something good for the economy he knows he knows business but he's taking something

00:27:44.060 else away he's taking away your illusion of democracy and it's happening right now right in front of you

00:27:50.460 it's very important for the country to operate properly that people have the illusion of democracy yeah I

00:27:58.700 know it's a republic but the way people talk about it is is a democracy so uh and if people lose the if

00:28:07.940 they lose the illusion that their vote matters and that the people control things what happens how does

00:28:16.420 your system work if people lose trust the voting actually is a real thing that that influences elections

00:28:23.020 and what I mean by that is that Bloomberg is so conspicuously and I would say honestly you know I

00:28:30.020 don't even fault him for this because it's so it's so incredibly transparent and honest he's pretty much

00:28:36.060 saying watch this I'm going to buy the election uh right I mean it's not about his personality or his

00:28:43.060 policies he's pretty much saying watch this I'm going to buy this election now he I believe he has um good

00:28:51.180 motives I think he has no no improper motives whatsoever that's my assumption and belief about

00:28:58.260 Bloomberg is he's doing it for good reasons in his mind but the necessary outcome of this is that he's

00:29:06.060 going to prove that democracy is a sham because he's going to prove that if you have enough money

00:29:11.660 you control the vote it's not the other way around and he's doing it right in front of us so that's a big

00:29:17.900 thing to lose you'd be losing your sense that the republic even exists in the way it was designed

00:29:25.700 now what would you lose if Trump gets re-elected your boredom think about it what does Trump tell you

00:29:37.080 he's going to take away well if you're an American citizen I think nothing right can you think of anything 1.00

00:29:46.800 that Trump is promising or at least you know the the the nature of his candidacy is looking to take

00:29:52.880 away now if you're partisan you're going to say oh yes he's he's taking away our cohesive nation

00:30:00.280 no he's not no he's not it's only the political you know nerds who even think that the the world is

00:30:08.740 even slightly worse than it was when he took office the reality is for people who are not living in the

00:30:14.640 political mindset if you're just going to work and waking up and dating and everything else the

00:30:20.260 world has never been better people have never been more unified you know people have never cared less

00:30:26.180 about your sexual orientation your your gender people have never cared less about your ethnicity

00:30:32.160 we're in the best place we've ever been not good enough keeps improving but certainly there's

00:30:39.840 nothing that Trump did that that said that backwards in fact the polling says we're even

00:30:44.220 the polling supports when I said that things have improved under Trump so so if you think of it that

00:30:50.560 way what what are the candidates risk for you as an American citizen losing now if you wanted to get into

00:30:58.460 America and you were not already here and not already a citizen then Trump has something he's going to

00:31:03.520 take away from you because he's taking away your your easy ability to get into the country so he's taking 0.82

00:31:09.760 away he's taking things away from let's say other countries that weren't paying enough for NATO

00:31:15.860 and he's taking away a lot of stuff from a lot of people but they're all in other countries he's

00:31:22.540 taking away China's good trade deals that they had he's taking away favorite deals from you know

00:31:27.840 Mexico and Canada mostly Mexico I think and a little bit Canada and so if you were to look at it in terms of

00:31:38.340 the most motivating thing is fear of loss then Trump has the winning hand because he's not taking

00:31:44.260 anything away from Americans unless you really you know yeah you have to twist yourself up to turn it 0.88

00:31:50.020 into something that's being lost and it would probably be an illusion all right um see what else we got going

00:31:57.800 on here if anything nothing um I'm looking at your comments now

00:32:08.380 what does this do to America's international reputation so um that's that's really interesting

00:32:18.940 question and I'm glad you asked it because it's something I've wanted to talk about

00:32:22.800 do you believe that other countries have a lower opinion of the United States today because of Trump

00:32:33.420 do you believe that because you know there's certainly lots of pundits who would tell you that

00:32:39.680 must be the case and remember there was that video uh there was that video of uh the the leaders

00:32:46.900 including Trudeau and Macron I guess laughing about something about the Trump you know team when they

00:32:53.260 were overseas so there's that right um but here's the thing do you believe for a minute that leaders

00:33:03.500 of other countries are not laughing at the leaders of other countries all the time it wouldn't that be

00:33:10.940 more normal have you ever been in the room at a meeting if you're in a room with a meeting

00:33:15.720 and you have any kind of an adversary it doesn't matter who the adversary is you could be an

00:33:20.960 engineering and your adversary is the marketing department of your own company your adversary could

00:33:26.700 be your customer who's being annoying if you've ever been in a room with any executives leaders business

00:33:34.720 people organization anybody if they're human beings and there's several of you and you're in a room

00:33:41.600 and there is somebody to talk about on the outside you're going to be talking about him and you're

00:33:47.000 going to be laughing about it in what world is that not a universal equality the fact that you've

00:33:52.840 got this video of it happening in the Trump situation you think that makes it the time it happened

00:33:57.140 was that is that the one time it happened no do you think and let's be honest do you think that

00:34:04.540 Trump has never laughed at Macron seriously do you think that Trump has never laughed at Justin

00:34:11.880 Trudeau behind closed doors uh-huh you know I think he might not be laughing at President Xi

00:34:22.020 you know I would guess he's probably an exception he probably doesn't laugh at him

00:34:28.460 um because I don't know that there's anything anything to laugh at in that case and I think

00:34:34.180 he might actually like Kim Jong-un on some kind of a personal level but of course you know it's not

00:34:40.200 a personal relationship exactly but you know that they all laugh at other leaders so when people say

00:34:48.620 we've lost our standing in the world I say what did we lose our standing with Mexico um when they 1.00

00:34:56.640 started guarding their southern border and paying for it was that when we lost our standing with

00:35:01.080 them did we lose our standing with Mexico and Canada when we renegotiated the USMCA and got a

00:35:07.440 better deal for ourselves is that when they stopped respecting us when we got a better deal how about

00:35:12.740 when we renegotiated with China and everybody said oh that's going to be a big mistake and then the

00:35:17.620 the first part got done and it looks like it's a better deal from us did did everybody respect us less

00:35:24.220 for pushing back against China no did anybody respect us less for anything anything do you think

00:35:36.020 other countries cared about the whole Ukraine BS do you think other countries took too seriously the

00:35:42.040 Russia collusion stuff I'm not even sure they think it's anything but funny so

00:35:47.020 um anyway I don't think that that's real I think that there are always countries laughing at other

00:35:57.280 countries and that I doubt that other countries have a serious a serious complaint about the United

00:36:04.700 States there are more countries copying us than mocking us I would say um nobody trusts Trump

00:36:14.300 and his lies outweigh the truth equals the loss of respect well I feel that the one thing that Trump has

00:36:24.720 going for him is that the 15,000 lies or or times that he has departed from the fact checking don't

00:36:35.400 they all fit a certain category and don't you think that leaders have recognized that yet here's the

00:36:42.220 category let me let me give you two examples Trump says the size of my crowd at my rally was 10 million

00:36:51.340 people okay that's one thing and the other thing is we got a bad uh we used to have a bad trade deal

00:36:58.860 with China and we're we better renegotiate that so we better try hard so those are two statements of

00:37:05.000 facts which ones do the leaders of other countries think they should take seriously and which one do

00:37:12.640 they believe they believe that China has a bad situation with us and we need to fix it that matters 0.74

00:37:19.720 does it matter that Trump exaggerated his crowd size no if Trump accuses a political rival

00:37:27.380 of shooting JFK suppose he did that tomorrow would the leaders of other countries say oh my god he's

00:37:36.040 going crazy now or would they say and be honest or would they say oh yeah he always does stuff like

00:37:42.880 that it's kind of funny he's just he's just getting the news wound up making people talk about this

00:37:48.120 distracting but don't take it too seriously do you think there's anybody in another country would say

00:37:53.920 oh my god we better launch the nukes we better cancel our agreements with this country their their 1.00

00:37:59.240 leader is crazy he's just making stuff up no because they know him now let's say that Trump says

00:38:06.420 if you do x there's going to be a big price now that's the statement that could be true or false 0.92

00:38:15.020 do you think other countries look at him and say oh no he just lies you know there's all just loss of

00:38:23.040 trust we can't trust we can't even trust that he's going to attack us or or you know sanction us he's

00:38:29.620 just a big old bluffer I'll bet they don't I'll bet when he threatens another country they think it's

00:38:36.520 dead cold serious and they take it as a fact does that matter yeah yeah it matters sure matters if Trump

00:38:45.960 says he has the best economy in 400 years and it's not exactly true because it was once that time

00:38:52.880 150 years ago was a little better do other countries look at that and say my god he can't 0.83

00:38:58.040 stop lying it's like he's a compulsive liar everything that comes out of the man's mouth

00:39:03.680 is a lie we'll never do a deal with him do they say that or do they say yeah I probably would have

00:39:10.260 said the same thing it makes them fact check that and then they'll realize it was only one year and

00:39:15.340 there was something special about it but really it has been a great economy for 150 years and he's

00:39:20.040 taking credit yeah I probably would have done the same thing smart play if you actually dig in and

00:39:26.600 even do a little bit of discernment about the the so-called lying you'll see it's all in the same

00:39:34.340 category it's all in the the bs category and it you know it's bs you know his style you know it's hyperbole

00:39:44.260 you know he wrote a book telling you he does this he wrote a book telling you he would do it again

00:39:50.560 because it's a good thing to do and then he does it right in front of us over and over again we know

00:39:56.300 hyperbole we get it and we know that when he says I want to lower your taxes he freaking means it

00:40:05.200 right when Trump said he wanted to lower your taxes do you think do you think that was a lie

00:40:12.080 now he could succeed he could not succeed but it wasn't a lie how about when Trump said he'd build

00:40:17.740 the wall not successful yet right but was that a lie that was not a lie because look at the look at

00:40:27.200 the political capital look at the effort look at the creativity look at the risk I mean he's he's put in

00:40:34.680 it all out there to get that freaking wall or or something that makes border security better 0.95

00:40:39.360 whether it's a wall or other so when you look at what he promises he's going to do he's pretty darn

00:40:48.500 reliable so when the campaign says you know promises made promises kept I think that other countries look

00:40:56.020 at that and say holy cow that's a lot of promises made and a lot of promises kept and when he says

00:41:03.480 um and when he says that Bernie Sanders is actually uh the son of an alien uh not an alien from earth but

00:41:12.880 a space alien and uh his real his real purpose is to uh take over the world or anything else

00:41:21.500 I think leaders of other countries say oh that's just campaign talk don't take it too seriously

00:41:27.200 so um if you believe that other countries have less respect for the United States I think you've

00:41:33.980 bought the the mainstream news line and I think there's no evidence for that and in fact all evidence

00:41:42.400 suggests that they're more sophisticated than that the leaders are anyway the people who make a difference

00:41:47.820 that they're more sophisticated than that and they know the difference between things that are bs

00:41:53.080 and things that are meant to be taken seriously all right uh I guess that's all I got

00:42:00.800 um is the can you remind me is the uh is the debate tonight or is that tomorrow night

00:42:12.520 you lay down his mindset in the art of the deal that's right

00:42:18.900 you are dunning kruger we all are dunning kruger that's how it works 0.82

00:42:28.000 all right I think that's all somebody says how's your stomach really really bad yes today was not a

00:42:38.660 good day but I will talk to you tomorrow and it will be better see you then
