Real Coffee with Scott Adams - Part 1 of 2： Episode 2408 CWSA 03⧸09⧸24

00:00:00.000 good morning everybody and welcome to the highlight of human civilization that's called

00:00:09.340 coffee with scott adams don't know what's going to happen today we're using the rumble platform

00:00:14.240 for all four platforms youtube and rumble and x platform and local subscribers my special

00:00:23.080 favorites and if you'd like to take this experience up to the level that nobody can

00:00:28.220 even understand hey paul all you need is a cup or mugger a glass of tanker chalice is dying a

00:00:34.020 canteen jugger flask a vessel of any guy and fill it with your favorite liquid i like coffee and

00:00:39.540 join me now for the unparalleled pleasure the dopamine of the day thing makes everything

00:00:44.580 better it's called the simultaneous sip it happens right now oh that was good

00:00:51.980 sometimes i have to pretend the coffee tastes delicious but today absolutely delicious

00:01:00.140 all right look at all those comments it's not frozen on my side everything's looking good here

00:01:07.600 oh comments are scrolling too look at that look at that all working good

00:01:14.440 or working well as you like to say

00:01:17.540 all right yes uh we're not locals is not getting rid of comments they will just move to the rumble

00:01:26.040 studio so your comments will all be here and then um they're working on the technology to get them to

00:01:33.020 be a little faster if that's possible might not be possible but i think there's a six to eight second

00:01:37.900 delay in the comments anyway let's jump right into it the fake science i like to start with

00:01:43.240 fake science nbc news reports there's a study that says you might be able to slow your biological

00:01:50.800 aging by eating less how many times have you heard this story i feel like this is the millionth study

00:02:00.300 that showed us maybe for the last 30 years 40 years haven't we been hearing the same study just

00:02:07.120 repeated every year for 40 years i'm not alone in that right

00:02:12.040 uh but here's what's left out and why i consider this fake science fake science it's because

00:02:20.500 the thing that they say they're measuring is that you eat fewer calories

00:02:25.620 so they have a control group that eats what they want i guess and another group that has

00:02:32.120 limited calories and then they measure their biomarkers and they find out that the people

00:02:37.440 who ate less food have better biomarkers now there's an obvious point to this which is obesity

00:02:44.640 is not good for you but if you're doing a short-term study it seems weird that you know that you'd see a

00:02:52.980 big difference in the short term but here's what's left out i'm pretty sure that our food supply is

00:03:00.360 largely poison meaning that the more food you eat it's not just more calories it's more poison

00:03:08.400 it's more additives it's more pesticides there's more everything so they did it they did a test to

00:03:17.020 see if eating fewer calories made you healthy healthier but they never tested to see if eating

00:03:24.600 less poison makes you uh healthier don't you think if you were eating at mcdonald's and you just did

00:03:32.800 less of it it's not just the calories that you got less of you got less of all the stuff you didn't

00:03:39.360 want in your body of course it makes you healthier of course it does so that's a weird science and

00:03:46.880 there's not even a mention to the fact that the food itself might be bad for you

00:03:50.640 all right here's more fake science i guess the uh biden administration is trying to come up with a

00:03:59.080 new climate forecast model that would take into account what they want to do in terms of uh

00:04:05.380 um reducing aircraft contribution to co2 so they're trying to figure out how to model

00:04:13.860 just what would be different if they get a greener type of um jet fuel

00:04:20.460 so here's something that's uh embedded in the story that if you didn't notice it you wouldn't know

00:04:29.940 that it debunked all models so within the story saying how they're going to create a model

00:04:36.060 is a paragraph that debunks all models they don't call it out that way you just have to notice it

00:04:43.720 all right here's that paragraph um it says the rumor has it that those involved with the modeling

00:04:51.200 process can't find common ground regarding the actual impact of corn usage in the synthesis

00:04:57.460 some believe that it should be weighted with a higher penalty since carbon generation occurs during

00:05:03.640 the harvesting phase the ethanol industry wants to see its carbon impact as low as possible in order

00:05:10.640 to blah blah blah all right did you did you catch it yeah in that was the debunking of all climate

00:05:17.960 models how many of you how many of you saw it all right here's what you should see the climate models

00:05:26.460 are completely dependent on the assumptions the model's not even important the assumption they make

00:05:33.640 about how important it is to let's say just using their example um to consider or not consider

00:05:40.020 i don't know the time of the season when you're picking the corn or something like that so so you

00:05:46.360 can simply make an assumption that would completely change the outcome now is this a special case is this

00:05:53.860 the one time somebody built a projection model in which the assumptions really drove the output

00:06:00.560 no it's the only way it can be there's no other way it can be in the real world the assumptions that the

00:06:10.320 people the study people put into it determines the output that's the opposite of science

00:06:16.800 it's the opposite you can't be more opposite than the people sitting in a room debating what

00:06:26.060 assumptions should be in your model that's the that's the least scientific thing anybody ever did

00:06:31.780 ever but we still we still have this little fiction like the models could predict the future

00:06:38.540 nope never have never will um there's a company that i still have a subscription to called i stock

00:06:49.320 where you get stock photos that you could use you know with a license approval and every now and then 0.98

00:06:56.600 i'll use one of those for my posting on social media so i wanted to look for a picture of a moron 0.98

00:07:03.080 because i was going to do a post in which a dumb person you know would be a good picture for it 0.94

00:07:08.820 so i uh went there and i searched within i stock and this is a getty getty company they own it 0.96

00:07:15.180 um and i looked for moron um do you think there were any issues with 1.00

00:07:23.020 the diversity the way they handled the diversity so it was a page of morons 0.99

00:07:31.500 and uh but they weren't all the same now i hope this doesn't kick me off here 0.98

00:07:38.440 but uh let me show you some uh some of the moron pictures see if this works 0.91

00:07:47.620 um first of all it was almost all white people but there was one black person on the page 0.98

00:07:55.960 and you think to yourself how'd they handle that yeah how are they going to have diversity 0.99

00:08:02.500 in a moron uh result it's going to be pretty hard but here's how they handled it 0.99

00:08:10.360 uh there were a bunch of white people shown and i think a few asians 1.00

00:08:15.480 and here's a white person here he is you know drinking has crazy eyes and he's got weird teeth

00:08:24.100 and everything he's like ah not doing too well now this was typical there were lots of white people 1.00

00:08:29.640 looking like morons but then here's the here's the sensitive part they also have a picture of a 1.00

00:08:37.920 young black man that comes up in the moron search now how did they how do you think they handled that 1.00

00:08:46.400 so here's here's their image of a black moron which is funny because he looks more like a scientist or a lawyer 1.00

00:08:57.120 he's got a smart expression well dressed 0.99

00:08:59.680 the difference is hilarious i mean this uh if i had to guess i would say almost certainly college

00:09:10.240 educated looks like he's doing pretty well good looking smart looking guys smart eyes smart face

00:09:20.080 all right well just pointing that out um i don't think i stock images is going to last more than a

00:09:25.280 year because ai should pretty pretty much put him out of business and maybe it should

00:09:32.000 there's a a school district in aurora the state where aurora is i don't know where's aurora

00:09:40.880 somewhere somewhere in the middle west somewhere aurora anyway somewhere in the united states

00:09:48.000 the superintendent says that you may not this is actually in a document

00:09:54.000 uh you may not implement or adopt any program that does not prioritize uh diversity equity and

00:10:01.200 inclusion now what does prioritize mean in your in your world view it doesn't oh colorado so aurora

00:10:12.400 colorado thank you so what does it mean to prioritize tei wouldn't that mean that you sort of had to put it

00:10:22.800 in front of oh i don't know everything that's what it means right if you prioritize it you push it above

00:10:31.040 other considerations what would be the other considerations good ideas things that work

00:10:39.360 things that are good for the world

00:10:43.680 as soon as you throw in prioritize it's just racist there's no other way to look at it

00:10:50.320 there's no second way to look at this if you say if you say in writing it's our policy to prioritize

00:10:57.200 it there isn't any way to prioritize it unless you give up other things so what are you giving up they

00:11:05.920 should tell us what they're de-emphasizing what are you giving up all right uh

00:11:13.920 uh so as i told you our food supply is very dangerous but getting more dangerous every day

00:11:22.160 apparently there was a food airdrop in gaza in which one of the parachutes didn't open and five people

00:11:30.240 were killed by falling the food big pallet of food now i don't know how you give five people with one

00:11:38.880 pallet of food that's like the worst luck i've ever seen in my life not only as glenn greenwald points

00:11:46.880 out not only did these poor people survive the bombing and the famine and god knows what disease

00:11:55.520 and deprivation they're going through and then they get killed with a pallet of food now

00:12:01.520 that's just about the worst thing i've ever heard but it certainly gives you this weird feeling

00:12:12.880 that if your time has come your time has come you ever you ever feel that this is like the reverse of

00:12:19.120 that joke you know you know the old joke i tell too many times about the flood and you know god says i

00:12:25.440 sent you a car i sent you a boat i sent you a helicopter you know you just didn't take them 0.98

00:12:31.040 but there's like the the bad evil backwards version of that it's like you know god i tried to kill you 0.94

00:12:38.400 with the bombs i tried to kill you with the starvation none of that worked so i'm just 0.99

00:12:45.120 drop a pallet of food right on your heads and kill you all so yes it's just the worst thing i've ever 1.00

00:12:50.240 heard in my life in terms of bad luck geez so i i do believe that you can hold two thoughts in your 1.00

00:12:59.920 head which is that what's happening over there is horrific on a scale that we hope we would never see

00:13:05.360 again in in modern society at the same time what else are you going to do if somebody had a better idea

00:13:13.760 i'm sure they would have suggested it um there's a study that says that a lot of americans can't buy

00:13:22.480 cars so you need an annual income of a hundred thousand dollars to purchase a car i assume that

00:13:28.640 means a new car so on average if you don't make a hundred thousand dollars you can't get a car

00:13:34.000 but most uh the average american household is closer to eighty thousand so buying a car

00:13:39.920 in today's world pretty hard um what they don't say is that even if you have money you can't buy a car

00:13:49.920 it's almost impossible to buy a car has everybody tried to buy a car i won't i won't bore you with my

00:13:56.800 whole story but let me tell you my there's a quick version of buying a toyota truck so i wanted to get a

00:14:05.040 tacoma so i go to the toyota dealer and look around i think oh they must have closed this dealership

00:14:10.720 there's no trucks no toyotas but i go inside because they're actually open and it turns out

00:14:16.960 they don't have almost any inventory and the reason they don't have any inventory is that it gets

00:14:22.960 purchased before it arrives at the lot they can't make them fast enough

00:14:26.800 so here's so if you want to buy a truck you could buy one that's in the pipeline

00:14:33.760 but the pipeline ones are all random combinations of features and colors that are very unlikely to be

00:14:39.200 what you want but if you're lucky and you can get one in the pipeline before all the other people who

00:14:46.240 are also looking at the same pipeline before they grab it well then and only then you can have a toyota

00:14:53.200 truck literally you can't buy one so i so i tell the the salesperson well if you get a truck that meets

00:15:02.080 you know these criteria which weren't that restrictive you know give me a call and i'll come right down and

00:15:08.720 buy it no call say when i tried to buy a ford truck a while ago um you know they didn't have any i could

00:15:18.640 drive and i've never owned a truck i've driven them but i've never owned a truck and i thought i'm not

00:15:24.320 going to buy a truck i can't even drive one that's in the same general idea so i couldn't buy a truck

00:15:30.240 and i couldn't buy a ford i couldn't buy a toyota and so there we are anyway i can see why um and then i

00:15:41.680 thought about the process of negotiating for a car and i thought i would almost rather do anything

00:15:47.600 than spend a whole day negotiating has anybody brought their laptop to a car purchase

00:15:55.840 because remember they used to use the trick where they'd say i'll talk to my boss and be gone for an

00:15:59.680 hour and what they're really trying to do is make you stay there as long as possible so you're too

00:16:04.880 invested in the process to ever say no that that's why they do it so they're trying to wear you down

00:16:10.080 physically they're trying to physically exhaust you so has anybody brought their laptop and say hey

00:16:15.600 take your time i got a lot of work to do and they just start happily doing your work on your laptop

00:16:21.120 while they while they they think they're sweating you out but you're actually getting a lot of work

00:16:25.520 done hey i think i'll send some posts if you haven't done that yet you need to do it

00:16:33.520 because it ruins their whole game because you know they're they're back there like peeking out to

00:16:38.080 see if you're still there so they can run out in case you leave they'll run out and grab you and

00:16:42.800 bring you back so you know they're watching so just make it look like you're really having a good

00:16:47.040 time on your laptop getting a lot of work done anyway there's a uh oh we we hear that uh the x platform

00:16:58.000 is going to compete with youtube so they're going to have a big video platform that it'll play on some

00:17:04.400 smart tvs that's a big announcement and it will look very much like the youtube interface so musk is

00:17:13.040 going big for a video which is the smart play there's a little garage startup who's made a uh what would

00:17:24.320 be an eight thousand dollar robot and it it's they print the parts and they put little motors in it

00:17:30.160 who's it called i think it's uh k scale labs and the funny part is that the the founder of this little

00:17:38.320 garage startup uh as soon as i saw him talking i said my god that's elon musk too he looks like elon

00:17:47.680 musk he looks like him and talks like him and then i looked in the comments and somebody else said the

00:17:52.160 same thing i don't so good i'm not imagining it so yeah there's somebody who reminds you of elon

00:17:57.440 musk who just made an eight thousand dollar robot that you could just have running around your house

00:18:02.400 now i'm assuming you just load it with i don't know one of their ais um but here's what i would

00:18:11.840 like to suggest if somebody could tell me who makes the best little motors for robots because each of the

00:18:20.240 you know the arms and legs of the robot are going to have a number of motors and servos or whatever

00:18:25.360 they're called to activate all the body shouldn't we be investing in little motors that go into

00:18:33.600 robots is there a company that owns that like nvidia owns the chips for ai it doesn't seem like that's

00:18:42.880 the the shovel investment for the the gold rush because the robots are going to use a lot of little
