Rebel News Podcast - A Chinese diplomat mocks Trudeau — and accidentally tells the truth

00:00:00.000 Hello, my Rebels. I follow a lot of Chinese Communist Party Twitter accounts because I

00:00:05.440 want to see what the bad guys have to say. And I was shocked that one of them tweeted something that,

00:00:10.640 well, I completely agree with. He was tweeting about Justin Trudeau. I'll read that tweet to

00:00:16.560 you and give you some background context. But first, let me invite you to become a subscriber

00:00:21.200 to Rebel News Plus. It's the video version of this podcast. And I think it's got a lot of value

00:00:27.320 because we really put a lot of effort into finding videos and charts and graphs and clippings and

00:00:31.900 things like that. So it's not just the spoken word. And you also get shows every week from David

00:00:37.120 Benzies, Sheila Gunn-Reed, and Andrew Chapin. Those my shows daily, as you know. And I think most

00:00:41.700 importantly, from my point of view, the $8 a month that it costs, well, that pays the bills here at

00:00:47.120 Rebel News. So thank you for that. And even if you don't think you're going to watch the videos often,

00:00:53.540 maybe consider doing it just for that reason alone, subscribing just to give us the eight bucks,

00:00:57.140 because we'll never take it from Trudeau. Just go to rebelnews.com and click subscribe.

00:01:02.460 All right. Here's today's podcast.

00:01:07.440 Tonight, a Chinese diplomat mocks Trudeau and accidentally tells the truth. It's March 29th, 0.79

00:01:13.580 and this is The Ezra Levant Show.

00:01:17.260 Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?

00:01:20.720 There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.

00:01:24.620 The only thing I have to say to the government about why I publish it is because it's my bloody

00:01:29.940 right to do so.

00:01:35.620 I want to show you an incredible statement by a Chinese diplomat. It's quite something,

00:01:40.660 very undiplomatic. Stay with me. I'll show it to you in a few minutes. But first,

00:01:44.940 let me just give you a reminder of where we are with China. You know, sometimes someone makes fun of

00:01:49.600 you or insults you, and they do it in a subtle way, sort of a passive-aggressive way, maybe an

00:01:55.600 ambiguous way. I have a friend, a former editor of mine, who would joke that he was often asked what

00:02:01.360 he thought of friends' works, like a play or a book. And he would sometimes have to come up with a

00:02:07.580 subtle and ambiguous answer to the question because he didn't want to embarrass them when they said,

00:02:12.500 so how do you like it? And he said his favorite line was, you've done it again. I like that. Isn't

00:02:19.800 that great? He doesn't actually say anything, but he wasn't lying either. I think Barack Obama was the

00:02:26.300 master of that sometimes, where he just quietly posed, giving someone the middle finger. I could

00:02:32.220 be overthinking it, but it seems to happen so much. You know, we have 10 fingers. We're always using

00:02:36.760 them sometimes distractedly. If every moment of my life was photographed, you might catch me for a

00:02:42.100 second where it looks like I was flipping someone the bird. Obama seems to have done that at strategic

00:02:46.700 times. China has been engaging in diplomacy for centuries, millennia really, like Persia, like

00:02:53.640 the Ottoman Turks. China was into diplomacy and subtle speaking and symbolism before Columbus was even

00:03:00.400 born. Think of Marco Polo. So the Chinese know what they're doing more than say, I don't know, 1.00

00:03:06.760 Christia Freeland. Restoring, refreshing, strengthening the Canada-China relationship.

00:03:12.920 We're quite proud. The prime minister has been given a fond nickname in China. He is called

00:03:19.920 Tudou, which I believe means potato. And he's, I can't say the Chinese word, it's young,

00:03:26.480 Tudou, little potato, because his father, Pierre Elliott, Tudou, was senior potato.

00:03:33.700 Yeah, Justin Trudeau, they're calling you little potato. You've done it again. China knows what

00:03:40.360 they're doing. Here's how they handled Obama when they were mad at him. Now, U.S. President Barack

00:03:46.520 Obama's arrival in China for the G20 summit got off to a bumpy start as he didn't receive the red

00:03:51.920 carpet treatment usually offered to world leaders. Our Oh Si-young has more.

00:03:59.440 Was it a carefully calculated snub or a simple mishap on the behalf of the Chinese? 0.98

00:04:04.320 As President Obama arrived in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou on Saturday,

00:04:09.200 no rolling staircase had been prepared for his exit from Air Force One.

00:04:13.200 Instead, he had to make his way out from a little-used exit.

00:04:16.160 There are also altercations between U.S. and Chinese officials as Obama got off the plane

00:04:21.680 and U.S. reporters were told to move. A Chinese official was heard shouting,

00:04:26.700 this is our country, this is our airport. President Obama later downplayed the situation.

00:04:32.160 Yeah, the country that is obsessed with feng shui and saving face knows exactly what they're doing 0.72

00:04:37.560 in diplomacy. They know how weak Canada's liberals are. Remember when a senior Chinese communist came 1.00

00:04:44.280 to Canada and stood right next to Stéphane Dion, who was in cabinet at the time. And a Canadian

00:04:50.920 reporter asked a fairly standard question of China. And he absolutely tore a strip off her saying, 0.96

00:04:56.680 basically, how dare you ask questions like that? And Stéphane Dion, the cowardly liberal, 0.99

00:05:02.680 just stood there and took it. Hi, Minister Dion. Amanda Connolly with iPolitics.ca. Thank you for 0.99

00:05:08.120 taking our questions today. There are no shortage of concerns about China's treatment of human rights

00:05:14.040 and its advocates, such as the Hong Kong booksellers, and its detention of the Garrett's,

00:05:18.360 not to mention the destabilizing effects of its territorial ambitions in the South China Sea.

00:05:23.400 Given these concerns, why is Canada pursuing closer ties with China? How do you plan to use that

00:05:28.600 relationship to improve human rights and security in the region? And did you specifically raise the case

00:05:33.560 of the Garrett's during your discussions with the foreign minister today?

00:05:44.600 I want to make a response to the questions asked by this journalist about China.

00:05:49.320 I have to say that your question is full of prejudice and against China and arrogance where I don't know

00:06:06.120 where that come from. And this is totally unacceptable. Yeah, that's not even the hidden snub,

00:06:12.360 is it? That's full-out disrespect, a bully taking our lunch money again and again, and we're just

00:06:18.040 accepting it. That's been Trudeau's approach. It's really embarrassing. Despite the kidnapping by the

00:06:23.400 Chinese dictatorship of Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, Trudeau just won't stop loving the bullies. He

00:06:29.800 trains their soldiers at our bases. He gives money to their virus research institutes. He just gave

00:06:37.000 4.8 million dollars to Huawei, a gift to one of the richest tech companies in the world that just happens

00:06:42.520 to be controlled by the Communist Party of China. He even thought it would be a really smart idea to sign up

00:06:49.240 for a contract with Chinese army for their version of the vaccine. I kid you not, Canada still remains 0.92

00:06:57.560 the one five eyes ally not to ban China from making our 5G network. Is there nothing Trudeau won't do for

00:07:05.400 China? Even at the show trial of the two Michaels just this month, Trudeau refused to send our ambassador

00:07:11.160 to China to the trial. A dozen other countries sent their diplomats to the trial as a sign of solidarity

00:07:17.240 with us, but our own ambassador just didn't go. He didn't go. He sent some junior underling, you know,

00:07:24.760 mustn't get offside with China. And the grossest of all was then when the opposition conservatives put a

00:07:31.240 motion condemning China's genocide of the Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang province, Trudeau refused to

00:07:37.320 show up to vote. He wouldn't vote for it or against it. He didn't even show up. All he did was send

00:07:43.400 the Mark Garneau to say, we abstain, but the whole cabinet just hid. What a coward. It's almost like 0.99

00:07:51.720 Trudeau meant what he said when he told us that he loves China's basic dictatorship. There's a level

00:07:58.120 of admiration I actually have for China because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually

00:08:09.800 turn their economy around on a dime. But you know, that wasn't good enough for China, and they've 0.94

00:08:14.440 started turning on Canada. Well, they did years ago. They put sanctions on our agricultural exports,

00:08:20.840 for example. But now they've started putting sanctions on individual Canadian MPs and other

00:08:27.320 officials. So Canada has responded in the most modest way possible. Sanctions against minor

00:08:32.120 Chinese officials. Trudeau says he won't allow goods made by slave labor by Uyghurs into Canada, 0.99

00:08:38.760 but the Global Mail shows that ban is just not happening. No goods have been stopped at all. It's fake.

00:08:44.920 But China is outraged nonetheless, and they've lost emotional self-control, which is odd for a country that 0.81

00:08:50.680 values saving face. But I'm not sure. Was this deliberate, or was this a rogue diplomat trying

00:08:56.040 to impress his bosses in Beijing? I don't know. But look at this. Just look at this tweet.

00:09:01.080 Boy, your greatest achievement is to have ruined the friendly relations between China and Canada, 0.94

00:09:09.080 and have turned Canada into a running dog of the US. Spend thrift!

00:09:13.400 You don't really hear some of that language a lot. A capitalist running dog. That's weird,

00:09:19.560 Cold War-era communist language, sort of Stalinist language. But look at the pure derision,

00:09:24.760 the mocking, the diminishment of him, calling him a boy. You don't see that a lot from diplomats.

00:09:29.960 It's not very diplomatic, is it? Now, this diplomat, Li Yang, or I think it might be said Yang Li,

00:09:37.400 he's based in Brazil. So it's a bit odd in some ways for him to be weighing in on Canada, unless

00:09:42.920 they just wanted a diplomat who couldn't be kicked out of Canada to do that, not that Trudeau would

00:09:47.640 ever kick him out. So what have we here? We have Trudeau who hasn't actually done anything to China.

00:09:55.480 We haven't withdrawn our diplomats or kicked out any of theirs. We haven't cut off their trade,

00:10:00.760 even though they've cut off ours. We haven't kicked out any of the 100,000 privileged sons and

00:10:07.160 daughters of the Chinese Communist Party who are studying in our universities, taking out places

00:10:11.800 that Canadians might take, keeping out, you know, we don't keep out Chinese goods dumped in our market 1.00

00:10:17.000 like cheap Chinese steel. We haven't kept out China's Huawei from our 5G. We're still in the Asian 0.99

00:10:25.640 Infrastructure Investment Bank. We're putting our money into building infrastructure in China.

00:10:29.480 We haven't even thought of boycotting China's upcoming Olympics.

00:10:33.560 None of that, none of that, just a fake ban on Xinjiang cotton. But you know what?

00:10:39.720 I have to agree with this communist diplomat from Brazil. So look at that tweet just one more time.

00:10:47.640 Boy, your greatest achievement is to have ruined the friendly relations between China and Canada 0.74

00:10:53.680 and have turned Canada into a running dog of the US. Spendthrift, that last part is quite true, 0.99

00:10:59.320 isn't it? You know what? I think this little commie is right. I think he's rooted on diplomatic,

00:11:04.760 but by gosh, there's some truth entered. I think that if Trudeau really does manage

00:11:11.640 to unhook Canada and China, if he really does start to push China away from us, the dictatorship, 0.78

00:11:18.760 untangle us from their companies, if he really did that, which he has not yet done and frankly doesn't

00:11:25.480 look like he's going to do, it really would be Trudeau's greatest achievement. Stay with us,

00:11:33.160 more ahead.

00:11:45.480 Well, we've been covering the lockdowns across Canada. Our office is based here in Toronto, but as you know,

00:11:51.000 we've been covering the church lockdowns in Alberta. We've had reporters at the Grace Life Church

00:11:56.840 outside Edmonton, a Baptist church down in Calgary. We've been covering the Diner Rebellion, the

00:12:03.000 Whistle Stop Diner in near Alberta. We've covered things in Toronto pretty well, too, because we're

00:12:09.320 based here. But only in the last few weeks have we been going to Montreal. I think we should have gone

00:12:15.800 there earlier because they actually still have a curfew at night. I think that's the only place in North

00:12:19.640 America that does. Treats adults like children, treats healthy people like sick people, treats innocent

00:12:24.920 people like criminals. It's actually crazy. We have a guy out there called Yankee Pollock. He's

00:12:29.560 based out there. He doesn't do a lot of on-camera work for us. He's mainly a web, social media guy.

00:12:36.520 But at night he goes out and documents the curfew. And they started, they haven't been rough with him

00:12:41.480 physically, but they've detained him and given him thousands of dollars in tickets. And he would show

00:12:47.800 us the craziness out there, especially police clapping down on the Orthodox Jewish community. We've been

00:12:53.480 covering a lot of Christian churches in Alberta and other places, in BC and Ontario. But for some

00:12:59.960 reason they're focusing on the Jews, or at least the Orthodox Jews in Montreal. So the last couple of

00:13:04.840 weekends we've sent a fairly big team from Rebel News and they're starting to know us. The individual

00:13:10.840 police recognize us now, certainly recognize Yankee, our Montreal reporter. They're clearly watching our

00:13:18.200 videos. And by the way, we have signed exemption certificates. We comply with the law. We have a

00:13:24.120 letter from the Montreal police confirming it. We followed all the rules. We're exempt from the

00:13:29.720 lockdown under the, under the rules. The police know that, but they've arrested our people again and

00:13:37.320 again. And this weekend they actually handcuffed our reporters. You know, Efron Monsanto, I had a video.

00:13:46.680 He has reported for us from Poland, from Mexico, even from Hong Kong during the democracy protests.

00:13:53.080 He has never been arrested anywhere. He has never been handcuffed anywhere except in our own country.

00:13:58.760 And there's this weird thing, like Efron Monsanto, I haven't asked him, but I think he's Christian

00:14:03.560 based on the name. And Mocha Beziergan, he's Muslim. And Lincoln Jay, he's Christian, I think.

00:14:10.680 So we have people from different backgrounds. Yankee Pollock is Jewish, but of our whole team that is

00:14:16.120 going out to Montreal, other than Yankee, no one, no one is actually Jewish. And Yankee's just there. 0.95

00:14:22.040 He's not there in a Jewish capacity. He just happens to be a Jew, like Lincoln happens to be Christian. 0.68

00:14:27.480 It's not relevant. We're covering the news. Rebel News is not inherently a Jewish organization. In

00:14:33.400 fact, other than Abiyamini, I don't think we have any on-camera talent who is Jewish.

00:14:39.560 It's just not our central focus. Our focus is on civil liberties, on Canadian politics,

00:14:44.200 a little bit on Australian politics. It's just so weird because the police in Montreal keep saying,

00:14:51.000 oh, there's Jew media. There's the Jew media. Are you a Jew? And at first, 0.97

00:14:56.360 the first time I heard that, I thought, did we mishear that? Did they say it in some other way?

00:15:01.480 What do they mean by that? But it's happening again and again, even as they handcuff our people.

00:15:06.280 I find it extremely unnerving. And we're going to fight back like hell. And in fact, we're not going

00:15:13.240 to let it roll. I mean, the lockdown to the great outrage, the fact that they're adding this weird

00:15:19.000 layer of you're a Jew, you're a Jew, is I think really creepy. But we're not done yet. So I think we're 1.00

00:15:24.360 going to go back to Montreal until we get this thing fixed. And obviously, we're going to fight

00:15:28.440 the fines for Yankee and Mocha and Efron and Lincoln and all our other people out there who've been

00:15:32.360 getting these outrageous fines. Illegal fines. Our people are exempt. Anyhow, enough ramble for me.

00:15:37.560 Let me throw to some outstanding videos taken by these young men. And I can assure you, just like we

00:15:43.960 stayed with it in Alberta until we won for the whistle stop and stayed with it until Pastor Coates was

00:15:49.240 let out of jail. We're not going to ease up in Montreal. Perhaps the creepiest thing I heard

00:15:55.640 from Montreal was something Mocha told me over the phone. He said that the police said to him,

00:16:01.800 you're not allowed to ask us questions. None of the other media do. Mocha said the cop said that to him.

00:16:09.400 As in, the other reporters never question. The other reporters are never skeptical. The other reporters

00:16:14.760 never engage. The other reporters never doubt. They're stenographers, not reporters. Our rebel

00:16:20.680 news reporters in Montreal are the first time any journalist has taken a critical eye to their curfew.

00:16:29.960 The worst lockdown in North America. What they're doing to our reporters is an outrage. But the fact

00:16:34.920 that the cop said you're the only media who acts like journalists is very telling. I'll say goodbye to

00:16:40.920 you now. But here's some videos that our team did from Montreal. Enjoy these videos. But I know enjoy

00:16:48.040 is the wrong word. If you're like me, they'll make you angry. But I promise you, we'll keep at it.

00:16:52.760 I'll leave you with these videos. And I'll see you tomorrow. Keep fighting for freedom.

00:17:10.920 Bye-bye.

00:17:22.760 So

00:17:25.160 Oh

00:17:55.160 You are targeting me because I'm recording right?

00:18:25.160 You're allowed to record sorry

00:18:27.160 I am recording

00:18:29.160 I'm going to give you a ticket

00:18:31.160 Are you taking me right now?

00:18:33.160 Let's go

00:18:35.160 I just arrived here right now

00:18:37.160 And you're grabbing me

00:18:39.160 Yes, I'm grabbing you because you have to grab me

00:18:41.160 No, I don't have to

00:18:43.160 Give me the ticket

00:18:45.160 Stay cool

00:18:47.160 You want my ID?

00:18:49.160 You can record, there's no problem

00:18:51.160 Yes, I need your ID

00:18:53.160 What's your name and badge number?

00:18:57.160 Zopal

00:18:59.160 7987

00:19:01.160 What am I being detained for?

00:19:03.160 For what? I'm not part of the protest

00:19:05.160 You are reporting

00:19:07.160 No, no, wait, wait, listen, I'm reporting

00:19:09.160 I'm reporting, I'm not part of the protest

00:19:11.160 I ask you a piece of ID

00:19:13.160 So it doesn't matter to you that I'm not

00:19:14.160 I'm just reporting

00:19:15.160 I ask you a piece of ID

00:19:17.160 What will I do?

00:19:19.160 I'm going to give you a ticket

00:19:20.160 You're going to have to sit in the car

00:19:21.160 Because I have to verify your identity

00:19:22.160 I'm here, I'm not going anywhere

00:19:23.160 Yeah, you have to sit in my car

00:19:25.160 I have never heard of that

00:19:26.160 Why are you putting me?

00:19:27.160 Can I sit over here?

00:19:28.160 No, of course not

00:19:29.160 I have, this is my fourth ticket

00:19:31.160 And I've never, no one

00:19:32.160 Yeah, no one put me inside there

00:19:34.160 I don't have to

00:19:35.160 Well, it's for you

00:19:36.160 No, I'm okay standing here

00:19:37.160 Yes

00:19:38.160 You're going to sit there?

00:19:39.160 No problem

00:19:40.160 Okay, so I'm going to go to my car

00:19:41.160 I'm going to register

00:19:42.160 Okay, I'm waiting here

00:19:43.160 I'm going to go hide the information, okay?

00:19:44.160 Okay

00:19:45.160 Really, you're going to touch those 0.97

00:19:47.160 You're going to touch that mask with naked hands

00:19:49.160 And give it to us?

00:19:50.160 Here you go, sir, okay?

00:19:51.160 I'm giving you the ticket

00:19:52.160 Yeah, okay, thank you

00:19:53.160 And this is your two pieces of ID

00:19:55.160 Okay, thanks

00:19:56.160 And you have a mask?

00:19:57.160 Do you have to wear a mask?

00:19:58.160 No, I don't have to

00:19:59.160 If you don't, you'll have another one

00:20:00.160 Okay, you can't give me hundreds of tickets

00:20:02.160 That's okay

00:20:03.160 I'm not going to wear a mask that you touch like that

00:20:05.160 No

00:20:06.160 Would you like to take it for yourself?

00:20:07.160 No, I don't have to

00:20:08.160 Okay, have a great day

00:20:25.160 Hey, what's going on?

00:20:26.160 Hey, what's going on?

00:20:27.160 Hey, what's going on?

00:20:28.160 Are you taking me?

00:20:29.160 Don't fight back!

00:20:30.160 Don't fight back!

00:20:31.160 Don't fight back!

00:20:33.160 Mask on! 0.89
