Rebel News Podcast - ANDREW CHAPADOS ｜ Live from the trucker protests with Kian Simone & Lincoln Jay

00:00:00.000 welcome back to another episode of andrew says this is a special trucker edition i know you've

00:00:10.820 been waiting for this we're gonna go to kian simone right now aka key two he's blowing up

00:00:16.360 all over the planet right now kian how are you doing i know your time is tight so we're getting

00:00:21.320 you in as fast as possible tell everybody where you are first of all yeah so i am in coots alberta

00:00:27.220 in my exact location right now is in the uh unfinished basement of this unfinished bar

00:00:33.780 that is all the truckers uh so i apologize for the uh horrible background here but

00:00:39.740 uh yeah it's absolutely freezing here um been here for about seven days now uh assess it's

00:00:47.880 the living conditions aren't the best now it's a little bit different from ottawa you want to tell

00:00:52.900 people exactly what's going on american viewers are of course hitting you up all the time trying

00:00:57.760 to get the 411 and what's going down uh this is just literally truckers blocking the border between

00:01:04.820 the united states alberta and montana is it not yeah yeah i started off with the truckers uh last

00:01:11.600 saturday about it was roughly 10 000 truckers were here doing a slow roll just circling the border

00:01:17.840 and uh i guess internally about 300 of them decided well let's just block it let's let's get

00:01:25.380 their attention they don't care if we're if we're going slowly through here right so they wanted to

00:01:29.960 do they wanted to have maximum effect to get uh the attention of jason kenney and and justin

00:01:35.720 trudeau and and because it's a border it got the attention of joe biden too and uh that's that's

00:01:40.600 exactly what you said there america's wondering what the heck is happening because

00:01:43.700 this is like uh this border it it cuts off if it's blocked it cuts off all of northwestern america

00:01:50.180 to alberta there's two other borders here but no not nothing like this one this is this is the big

00:01:56.020 border this is the this is the main border to united states from western canada of course the media says

00:02:03.700 obviously that's crazy people all the protests or you know everything i think trudeau said sexist

00:02:09.660 misogynist racist uh islamophobic anti-semitic probably something about you know space being 0.66

00:02:15.680 fake in there i don't know uh flat earthers you tell me but uh what's the general sentiment around 0.91

00:02:22.000 the area and alberta right now do you think are people supporting it well andrew is uh at the first

00:02:28.200 it was just a bunch of dirty smelly truckers and now all their families are here so there's a block

00:02:33.800 rcp checkpoint just north of here 18 kilometers away where there's almost more kids

00:02:39.380 than there is adults you know family families are here it's like a camping trip it's that that's

00:02:45.740 exactly the sentiment it's there's there's no racists there's no sexists there's no misogynists

00:02:50.960 it's it's all it's really it's just god-fearing people here who are who are sick and tired of the

00:02:56.760 mandates and uh and on the inside it's it's the local support here um so so that would be the

00:03:05.420 sentiment around alberta the local support here is insane um just beside me here i'm looking they

00:03:11.080 said they had 5 000 water bottles they have enough food to feed these guys for another few weeks and

00:03:16.280 more and more coming in and uh just just to touch on on how the food is getting in i brought up the

00:03:22.060 rcp checkpoint you're not allowed to drive um food into here you have to have it sanctioned by the rcmp

00:03:28.120 so there's a few there's been a few trucks i got through but people are walking from milk river

00:03:34.080 18 kilometers that's a four hour walk and last week was minus 40 and people are walking to give

00:03:41.240 these guys fuel water medicine food that's that's i think that's the best way to um to put together

00:03:48.580 how alberta feels about this i was going to ask you about the rcmp blocking it because at first it was

00:03:54.140 just rumors and then i was thinking you don't really even see that during you know global

00:03:59.820 conflicts usually supplies and medicine are not supposed to be attacked and you're supposed to

00:04:06.460 let that go through even the front lines i think that goes back probably hundreds of years that rule

00:04:10.660 but what is the thought process do you think behind the rcmp saying we don't want people to

00:04:15.640 to bring supplies in and you have to you know seek our permission they did not want more people to

00:04:21.400 block it i guess or i can take it a step further uh just to add a point there i just got uh off an

00:04:27.380 interview and this is uh this is exclusive so you'll be the first to hear um this they uh they're

00:04:33.020 blocking caretakers for the elderly who are locals and coots because they're not residents so there's 0.55

00:04:39.480 three older ladies here who uh two of them can't get out of bed and haven't been able to get out of bed 1.00

00:04:44.240 or get their medicine because they don't know which ones to take because the rcmp isn't even letting

00:04:49.160 nurses in to take care of local residents so the thought process of the rcmp uh one of them

00:04:57.020 commented on the on the nurse situation to one of the uh of caretakers who drove out there the older

00:05:02.560 elderly lady who needs a nurse drove out there and uh gave him her two cents and he had no idea 0.51

00:05:09.220 that the rcmp from the top was ordering this that not even caretakers can come in so the guys on the

00:05:15.380 ground you know you could you could see some of their faces they don't want to be here um they're

00:05:19.820 some of them are walking around giving out stickers and tattoos to the kids and shaking

00:05:23.260 everyone's hands and you know it's there's it's good that the cops are here because you know there's

00:05:30.480 always going to be that one guy who who goes off the of the of the deep end and says things and

00:05:35.280 and ruins it for everybody and i think the cops are are mainly here in their own minds to

00:05:40.360 really protect and serve but it's the people at the top that are enforcing this blockade uh to the

00:05:47.100 blockade it's it's a weird psychological uh tactic there i i feel um they're they're the real evil ones

00:05:54.560 in this situation in my opinion now in ottawa famously there's the uh no honking of course and

00:06:00.580 the no supplying fuel as a misdemeanor or um you know supplying something to a misdemeanor or something

00:06:07.920 like that has there been any ticketing or any arrests in there or any talk of that yet

00:06:12.740 uh there there was one arrest a teenager tried to sneak in he was drunk he had nothing to do with

00:06:20.460 any of it he just wanted to come see what's going on that is the only enforcement um so far there was

00:06:26.760 that try of enforcement uh last week um uh they they had a standoff at the i believe it was tuesday

00:06:33.660 those 50 rcp officers all kind of um lined up in a big line and and and walked forward and then the

00:06:41.480 300 truckers just ran they formed their own line and just they just walked slowly at each other it

00:06:47.380 was so peaceful so canadian so weirdly canadian and rcp there was like no communication they just

00:06:54.020 all turned around at the same time we're like nope not doing this and that's the only real enforcement

00:06:59.860 that i have seen so far now do you think that the things are do you think

00:07:05.560 the the government's going to listen to this because we've seen now that they're saying

00:07:10.960 you know we're going to make a plan and if the hospital stays you know on uh what's the word

00:07:16.680 i'm looking for here the hospitals don't overflow we're going to lift them what's the uh what's the

00:07:21.420 rationale there do you think and what's the other side of the story uh to put in a nice rebel news

00:07:25.880 tagline there um why can't they just lift them right now are the people representing the truckers

00:07:32.400 decided saying that just lift them right now or they do you think they're okay with there being

00:07:37.160 a delay to things and a gradual plan personally i don't believe if they're going to say oh uh down

00:07:42.400 the line we're going to do it i don't personally believe them but maybe there's been negotiations

00:07:45.940 what's going on with that do you think well uh it i actually had a few guys tell me this uh

00:07:51.600 i say you know how long are you going to stay here and they say two weeks to flatten the curve

00:07:55.440 look how far like look how long that took right they're not leaving um they don't want a plan they

00:08:00.900 want the mandates lifted now so what i've heard is that from today we're filming this uh what day is

00:08:06.320 it today today's a tuesday yeah um today's tuesday it's around three o'clock so five thirty five o'clock

00:08:12.340 today jason kenney makes an announcement and he said it's a plan to slowly uh lift mandates starting 0.98

00:08:19.760 with vaccine passport and these guys aren't leaving until it goes all the way down to those stupid 0.90

00:08:24.920 arrows in our grocery stores they want it all gone all of it i think i well we've seen from 0.98

00:08:33.360 pulling that at least half of canadians if they're going to follow the polls on other things they

00:08:36.720 should follow them on those things last question to you kian uh on a more friendship level my good

00:08:42.460 sir how are you feeling about all this um all these different networks reaching out to you you're

00:08:49.060 you're becoming the star that we all knew you are how are you feeling about it is it fun exciting

00:08:53.300 time is it super stressful do you just want to go home and get some sleep for once how are you feeling

00:08:57.920 i think it's all three of those um you know i've been i've been dreaming about uh doing a story

00:09:03.820 that just that just shows that i'm capable of doing a story uh as as weird as that sounds um i've had a lot

00:09:11.780 of my heroes from when i first got into this stuff reach out to me and say hey keep up the good work

00:09:18.740 and that's the kind of stuff that's keeping me going while i'm i'm freezing my butt off out here

00:09:23.160 um and yeah i i do want to go home i do but someone's got to stay here and tell the truth right

00:09:30.080 for sure well we appreciate what you're doing i'm no way am i complaining about my situation here

00:09:36.300 but i do want to go home how's a young sydney fazard doing how's he holding up he's good yeah he's he's

00:09:43.680 he's doing real good he doesn't sleep much anyway so i think that this is all okay for him

00:09:47.960 but i need my eight hours or i'm just a complete grump for those who don't know reporter sydney is 0.72

00:09:53.740 likely foraging he's finding new creatures and uh discovering new species i'm sure out there of

00:09:59.840 different plant life and uh recording them in his journal that's my interpretation of what sydney

00:10:04.980 does from day to day is find different plant life all right keen anything else you want to add to

00:10:10.080 the audience before we let you go and we're going to try we're going to hit up ottawa next and see

00:10:13.980 what's going up there all right i think we covered all the bases so far i think uh it's just important

00:10:20.520 to um to stay to stay updated on this kind of stuff because no other media is telling the truth and no

00:10:27.440 other media is so close um closely embedded in the story so it's uh i think i think what we're doing

00:10:34.000 is really important and uh yeah godspeed all right thanks a lot man have a good one you stay safe and

00:10:40.660 or warm thank you thank you andrew

00:10:44.000 we're now entering the second yes the second portion of this episode i'm wearing a different

00:10:51.940 shirt as you can tell because we brought in lincoln jay from ottawa yes that's his real name

00:10:56.700 um he was very busy we had to move it around a bit but we're thankful to have you here young man

00:11:01.120 how are you doing lincoln andrew thanks for having me on the show how's it going in toronto

00:11:06.820 it's going pretty good here um how long you want to tell everybody how long you've been in ottawa for

00:11:11.640 now well i came down on the 28th of january um expecting to be here for two days i guess no one

00:11:19.660 really knew how long uh the truckers convoy was going to go on for so i packed a bag with uh enough

00:11:26.160 closed for a couple days and here we are almost two weeks later

00:11:30.400 so the protest has been going on for so long now has it gotten weaker stronger has it been the same

00:11:37.460 are people responding to you know the political and police intimidation that we're seeing

00:11:41.920 honestly i've seen i don't think i've seen many trucks leave at least that's what it feels like in

00:11:48.720 the downtown court it feels like all the trucks are still here and all the truckers that we speak to

00:11:53.420 they have no no intention on leaving anytime soon so here we are the mentions let's go over a couple

00:12:00.760 of the claims here while i have you the mentions of the jerry cans being something you can be charged

00:12:06.260 with how have the people responded to that to be honest in a very nonchalant way like i said everyone

00:12:14.300 i've spoken to uh they're not intimidated by that they feel like it was just like a intimidation

00:12:19.760 factor used by the police and we only got reports and videos of those incidents on the first night

00:12:27.300 that the state of emergency was declared so this past sunday so a lot of the truckers here on the

00:12:33.140 ground think that it was just a intimidation method and we haven't really seen much fuel seizure since

00:12:39.240 then now what about the honking i believe there's been an injunction placed on it did that last for any

00:12:45.600 period of time were people actually scared to be honking their horns well to be honest with you

00:12:52.560 for the first what like 10 days that i was here it was just all you could hear was honking all day and

00:13:02.460 all night early morning it was just non-stop honking but as of monday it's been completely silent

00:13:09.640 there there is literally no honking so i don't know if i don't know if that's because of the

00:13:14.740 injunction or if it's a way for the truckers to kind of play the game and it gives the government

00:13:19.620 the police here in ottawa one less thing to to complain about and to use as a reason to to try

00:13:26.500 and get the truckers out so that's that what's the reaction on the ground like to all the claims of

00:13:32.500 you know the day one they had the flags and everything and now you've got all say the crazies coming out

00:13:38.900 the royal highness queen romana patrick king these type of people is there a response on the ground

00:13:45.240 from this type of thing or people just carrying on as usual and hoping that they don't you know

00:13:48.920 group them all in with those people no they i think they're just paying no attention to that like we saw

00:13:55.840 queen romana uh burning a flag we literally saw her burning a canadian flag and there was outrage on

00:14:03.660 the ground it was just like it was just like a she has like her own following her own group it was a

00:14:08.760 group of about about 30 individuals who just showed up on parliament hill and decided they

00:14:14.640 were going to burn a canadian flag and that's the complete opposite of what the people here 1.00

00:14:19.540 the complete opposite message of what the people here are trying to to display there's canadian flags

00:14:25.400 everywhere i guess it's just like a real patriotic community here everyone just wants

00:14:30.180 the old canada back and the fact that she came here and burns a flag on parliament hill i just

00:14:37.480 there's just no way to wrap your head around that yeah it's just screaming like government uh

00:14:44.700 psyop but that's just my opinion everybody don't worry about that you said it for me

00:14:49.560 i want to also ask you we've seen you on hannity now on the hill a whole bunch of american stuff

00:14:55.380 what do you think is the general american reaction to what's going on from what the

00:14:59.720 type of questions they've been asking you and everything

00:15:01.760 i honestly think they just feel bad for us i think they that that's the bottom line they just feel

00:15:10.140 sorry for what canadians are going through like i said on hannity you know it's been really tough to

00:15:15.500 be a canadian over the past two years and i think that's why you're seeing uh ron de santis the

00:15:21.060 state in florida you know other people sticking up for us and trying to make a difference because

00:15:26.900 they can clearly see that what's happening is just not right there's something really weird going on

00:15:32.780 all right lincoln i'm going to let you go but give us a prediction do you think

00:15:37.400 the mandates are actually going to end during this or do you think the truckers go home or is it

00:15:41.620 impossible to tell

00:15:42.440 yeah it's it's really tough to tell at this point to be honest uh it's unprecedented what's happening

00:15:49.760 right now uh a lot of people on the ground here do believe that there is a possibility of the

00:15:56.040 mandates being lifted we are seeing a bunch of different things happening with saskatchewan

00:15:59.820 alberta lifting mandates so there is hope on the ground here for sure that's what i'm gathering

00:16:05.320 just from being out here but as i'm sure you've seen it just doesn't look like justin trudeau is

00:16:12.500 giving it any consideration at this point he's sticking to his narrative and uh it seems that he

00:16:18.400 wants to follow that all the way through so i guess we'll just see what the days weeks however

00:16:23.440 long it may take uh for the truckers to leave for the mandates to end we just don't know i guess

00:16:28.380 we're gonna have to see all right lincoln i'm gonna let you go here international superstar reporter

00:16:33.600 lincoln jay my friend good luck out there stay safe and keep up the good work okay
