Rebel News Podcast - Best of 2020： Avi Yemini!

00:00:00.000 Hello, my Rebels, and I hope you're having a good Christmas time.

00:00:04.360 Hopefully you're having a chance to take a break from a busy year,

00:00:07.200 or maybe you're still on staycation and have been for many months.

00:00:10.920 Either way, it's a pleasure to have you listen to the podcast.

00:00:14.320 Over the days ahead, we have the best of The Rebel,

00:00:17.840 compilations of some of our favorite videos this past year.

00:00:21.720 I hope you enjoy them.

00:00:22.760 We'll be back with original programming very early in the new year,

00:00:26.060 but I think a lot of these videos you're about to hear today and the next few days

00:00:31.160 may well be new to you because they were on our YouTube channel,

00:00:35.620 but they were not on my show, The Ezra LeVant Show.

00:00:38.540 So I hope you enjoy these because I think most of them may be new for you,

00:00:42.760 and they're really some of our best work.

00:00:44.280 So without further ado, here are the best of The Rebels shows from 2020.

00:00:51.320 And just in closing, let me invite you to become a Rebel News Plus subscriber.

00:00:55.100 You get the video version of these shows.

00:00:59.060 The podcast is great, but seeing the visuals,

00:01:02.020 especially in some of our most dramatic coverage, really makes a difference.

00:01:05.040 Just go to rebelnews.com, click subscribe.

00:01:07.380 It's eight bucks a month.

00:01:08.220 As you know, we don't take a dime from Trudeau.

00:01:10.520 So this is how we rely on you, frankly.

00:01:13.740 Okay, here's today's show.

00:01:19.980 You're listening to a Rebel News Podcast.

00:01:25.100 Tonight, in one of our year-end reviews,

00:01:33.500 the best of Aviamini.

00:01:35.920 It's December 23rd, and this is The Ezra LeVant Show.

00:01:40.560 Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?

00:01:44.040 There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.

00:01:48.380 The only thing I have to say to the government about why I'm publishing it

00:01:52.000 is because it's my bloody right to do so.

00:01:54.240 Well, you know, one of our most exciting reporters in the last few months has been Avi Yamini.

00:02:04.600 He only joined us, I think, four months ago, but he's made an enormous impact.

00:02:08.580 Not only is he beloved in Canada, the United States, and the UK,

00:02:11.980 but his home country of Australia was starving for the rebel point of view.

00:02:17.200 That is, telling the other side of the story, especially in the city Avi lives, in Melbourne,

00:02:21.420 which is the heart of the Australian state of Victoria,

00:02:24.400 which had the strictest pandemic lockdowns in the world.

00:02:29.060 Well, Avi went to work not just with his great journalism,

00:02:31.900 but with his crowdfunding to hire lawyers and fight the fines and sue the lockdown police

00:02:37.820 and challenge the constitutionality of the lockdown,

00:02:40.720 I truly believe that Avi Yamini changed the entire political discussion

00:02:45.400 in Melbourne, in the state of Victoria, and therefore in Australia itself.

00:02:51.260 So today, the best of Avi Yamini.

00:02:55.000 I want to start this report by firstly thanking everyone

00:02:58.680 for all the love and support you've shown since the footage of

00:03:02.500 my unprovoked and violent arrest on Saturday was released.

00:03:07.820 And an extra special thanks to the over 10,000 people

00:03:10.940 who have already signed my petition.

00:03:13.820 It's humbling.

00:03:15.060 If you haven't signed it, I'm sure, after watching this report,

00:03:17.800 you're going to want to.

00:03:18.600 So when you're done, head over to standwithavi.com

00:03:22.200 and sign and share my petition demanding an end to the Victorian police state

00:03:26.980 that detains journalists for doing our job.

00:03:31.040 This report is going to show you what really happened on Saturday

00:03:35.100 from the moment I head to the protest.

00:03:37.220 It exposes how police are abusing their new state of emergency powers

00:03:42.600 and even worse, how the mainstream media is helping them get away with it.

00:03:48.100 Watch it from the beginning to the end

00:03:50.220 and then share it far and wide.

00:03:52.480 This is one of the protests that I actually have no idea

00:03:56.840 how it's going to end today.

00:03:59.220 We're now driving to the Freedom Day rally,

00:04:03.060 the anti-lockdown protest that has been banned in Melbourne.

00:04:06.720 You've seen over the past week,

00:04:07.840 we've seen Victoria police heavy-handedly kicking in doors,

00:04:12.920 arresting pregnant women in their homes

00:04:14.660 in an effort to stop this rally from happening today.

00:04:19.860 Police warn that the entrances into the city are going to be blocked,

00:04:23.740 so we're expecting probably a roadblock here.

00:04:26.600 You're going to live it, experience it.

00:04:27.920 I'm going to take you all the way into the city

00:04:29.900 and then to the protest,

00:04:31.260 and we're going to report on what's actually happening there

00:04:33.820 because we know that the mainstream media

00:04:35.100 is not going to give you the truth.

00:04:37.380 Here we go.

00:04:37.820 This is Dictator Dan speaking right now, live on the way.

00:04:40.760 ...Victorians in hospital.

00:04:42.560 21 of those are receiving intensive care

00:04:44.720 and 15 of those, 21, are on a ventilator.

00:04:48.220 Ballarat has just two active cases.

00:04:50.220 There's two active cases.

00:04:51.940 They arrested her in front of her children 0.64

00:04:54.580 and dragged her out of her home in cuffs.

00:04:57.260 For two active cases, there's over 100,000 people

00:05:01.380 who live in Ballarat.

00:05:03.760 The chances of her protest causing an outbreak,

00:05:09.720 having any sort of risk, is near to none.

00:05:13.500 The crazy thing is, during Black Lives Matter, 0.82

00:05:16.240 they allowed those protests to happen

00:05:18.700 where the threat was far more real at the time.

00:05:22.320 Here we go.

00:05:23.240 We've got a roadblock ahead.

00:05:25.140 Apparently, COVID compliance checks stands for,

00:05:29.700 there's a euphemism for,

00:05:31.480 shutting down free protest.

00:05:35.240 Here we go, guys.

00:05:36.160 Three in the car and they're filming is the problem.

00:05:44.920 How you going, mate?

00:05:45.560 Not too bad. How are you?

00:05:46.740 Yeah, good. There's my work permit.

00:05:48.380 What's your name?

00:05:49.200 Avi. Avi Yamini. That's my work permit, mate.

00:05:51.320 Your last name?

00:05:52.680 Yamini.

00:05:53.340 Oh, OK.

00:05:54.120 Internet publishing and broadcasting for news media purposes.

00:05:57.160 No dramas.

00:05:58.120 As per the guidelines.

00:05:59.960 Absolutely.

00:06:00.780 We've got three permits if you want.

00:06:02.240 That's fine.

00:06:06.460 They're all from the same house, Iggy?

00:06:08.280 Not from the same house.

00:06:09.320 We've got three separate permits if you need.

00:06:11.200 Yeah, but you're travelling inside a car.

00:06:13.640 That's part of the work.

00:06:14.920 Three people.

00:06:15.680 That's the work.

00:06:16.320 The job is the whole journey.

00:06:19.180 So that's part of...

00:06:21.000 Can you describe the work to them?

00:06:22.600 So I'm a journalist for Rebel News under the Emeni Report.

00:06:26.660 And this is my sound guy.

00:06:28.060 That's my cameraman.

00:06:28.780 And our job today is to cover what is happening in the CVD.

00:06:33.640 Sir, we're going to ask you to part there so we can have a chat.

00:06:37.940 No problems.

00:06:39.040 Thank you.

00:06:41.020 Here we go.

00:06:46.360 I have it on my phone, yes.

00:06:48.420 Now, where's your permit, dude?

00:06:50.160 Guys, can you provide the permits?

00:06:52.440 So they're obviously...

00:06:53.220 You're going to need permits.

00:06:54.260 Yeah, they've got the permits.

00:06:55.320 Give me the permits.

00:06:56.500 You can...

00:06:57.000 That's one permit.

00:06:59.040 Where's your work here?

00:07:01.520 Okay, so we're starting at the shrine and then we're following it through to Parliament,

00:07:05.460 wherever it's going.

00:07:06.200 That's what it says on the permit as per the regulation.

00:07:09.380 Can I ask you to...

00:07:10.320 Basically, Channel 9, Channel 7, they're all coming here.

00:07:13.480 Are you going to question them the same way?

00:07:16.080 This is what we're doing here.

00:07:17.660 Okay, I'm just asking because you seem to not understand what the media does.

00:07:21.380 Yeah.

00:07:22.420 This is what we're doing.

00:07:23.540 Here's the permits.

00:07:24.660 Here's the permits.

00:07:25.420 We are just doing the job.

00:07:26.740 No, that's fine.

00:07:27.560 That's fine.

00:07:27.880 That's not what I'm talking about.

00:07:28.840 That's fine.

00:07:29.240 So let me make it clear.

00:07:30.940 We're going to cover the events in the CBD and the roadblocks and everything that was announced.

00:07:36.600 That's why we have three in a car. 0.99

00:07:38.040 We have the permits as per the...

00:07:39.800 Here we go.

00:07:40.860 Thanks, mate.

00:07:41.260 And we are...

00:07:42.680 Give me an ID from everyone.

00:07:43.280 Yep, give me the IDs, boys.

00:07:44.940 You see it?

00:07:45.580 Yeah, mate.

00:07:46.300 I think you know who I am.

00:07:48.200 Yeah, I do.

00:07:49.340 How you doing?

00:07:49.980 You having a good day?

00:07:50.640 Good, mate.

00:07:51.320 In our work, you've got to stay very, very carefully within the guidelines because unlike the mainstream

00:07:59.080 media, I highly doubt they're doing this to the mainstream media.

00:08:02.040 Thank you, sir.

00:08:03.020 Yes, bear with me.

00:08:03.800 Yeah, no problem.

00:08:04.740 We're bearing right with you.

00:08:05.940 So the world is very interested to see how they're going to react to media covering what's

00:08:12.640 happening in Victoria.

00:08:15.120 Okay, thank you very much.

00:08:16.540 We have checked.

00:08:17.300 You're all right.

00:08:17.500 Thank you very much, sir.

00:08:18.720 Thank you for your service.

00:08:21.060 This is a crucial moment because police pulled us over.

00:08:23.580 They challenged me a little bit.

00:08:24.780 They didn't want me to go in, but I provided all the required legal documentation and in his

00:08:29.440 words, they checked our credentials and were all right to go.

00:08:33.640 From here, we head straight to the Shrine of Remembrance where the protests were planned

00:08:38.860 to start.

00:08:40.240 I began doing my job just like any of the other journalists there.

00:08:45.240 20 against one.

00:08:46.260 He just said his opinion.

00:08:47.620 And just like the other journalists there, I followed the protesters as they marched for

00:08:51.700 a good couple of hours to Albert Park.

00:08:54.500 Over the next few days, I'll release a lot more of what happened on the march.

00:08:57.960 I mean like the stuff that you won't see in the mainstream media.

00:09:01.120 But this report, I want to focus on how the police behaved as they trapped the protesters

00:09:07.420 by the Albert Park Lake.

00:09:10.840 So there's been numerous, quite intense, heavy-handed arrests here today.

00:09:19.380 We walked around for, there was probably a good two hours where there was no arrest,

00:09:25.440 no anything.

00:09:25.800 It was quite peaceful until, I'm just going to stop here for a second.

00:09:39.480 As you can see, I was just doing my job.

00:09:42.360 There was no one even around me.

00:09:44.900 The bloke marched up to me while I was doing a piece to camera.

00:09:48.560 You can actually hear me laugh because I seriously thought he was joking.

00:09:54.200 If you watched my content before, you'll know that sometimes cops walk up to me and banter

00:09:58.600 a little bit, you know.

00:09:59.540 I guess they like my work or they appreciate it or they find it funny or they see my sense

00:10:03.240 of humour and they join in.

00:10:04.640 But I quickly realised that this power-hungry commander was not bantering.

00:10:09.340 No arrest, no anything.

00:10:11.020 It was quite peaceful until...

00:10:13.340 This bloke here is not here for any purpose or reason.

00:10:15.560 Adi, let's go to!

00:10:16.460 He's under arrest.

00:10:18.240 But this guy here is going to be placed under arrest right now.

00:10:21.020 I'm under arrest.

00:10:23.440 I'm media.

00:10:24.960 I am media.

00:10:26.260 I'm media.

00:10:29.280 I've got my permit in my pocket.

00:10:33.000 My permit is in my pocket.

00:10:35.060 I'm fine, I'm fine.

00:10:36.040 I've got my permit in my pocket.

00:10:38.840 I work for Rebel News.

00:10:40.600 I am lawfully here.

00:10:42.520 I've got my permit in my pocket.

00:10:45.200 My permit is in my pocket.

00:10:47.480 I'm fine, I'm fine.

00:10:49.040 I've got my permit in my pocket.

00:10:51.240 I work for Rebel News.

00:10:53.000 I am lawfully here.

00:10:57.560 Can you grab that?

00:10:58.500 That's my mic cover there.

00:11:00.720 Can you give it to my staff?

00:11:02.660 Bend this one, bend this one. 0.54

00:11:06.040 Can you grab the mic and the mic cover there?

00:11:10.760 At this point, police forcibly take me away with my hands still cuffed behind my back like I'm some sort of violent criminal.

00:11:17.660 But what they didn't realise is I was still mic'd up and was recording everything they were about to say.

00:11:23.620 So, what did I do exactly?

00:11:25.780 Hinder.

00:11:26.360 Hinder what?

00:11:26.960 How did I hinder?

00:11:28.420 How did I hinder?

00:11:29.940 I've got my permit in my back pocket.

00:11:32.140 I got a pass.

00:11:32.840 I was at the roadblock.

00:11:33.620 I got let in properly.

00:11:36.120 I followed all the Chief Health Officers, all the Chief Health Officers directions.

00:11:44.240 I had the work permit and it was checked as I came in here by Victoria Police.

00:11:49.660 So, I've got it all on camera.

00:11:51.300 Yeah, no, you're here for a hinder.

00:11:54.240 What hinder?

00:11:54.820 What's a hinder?

00:11:55.220 Hinder police. 0.55

00:11:56.060 What did I hinder police with?

00:11:58.440 How did I hinder police?

00:12:00.860 How did I hinder police?

00:12:03.420 Is that on?

00:12:04.160 Is that camera on?

00:12:04.800 Yeah, it's on.

00:12:05.160 Basically, they couldn't get me for breaching any COVID restrictions, so they had to make

00:12:34.720 up a hindering allegation.

00:12:36.360 Only, there's one problem which you all witnessed.

00:12:41.020 I was alone with no one around me.

00:12:43.100 I wasn't stopping anyone from doing anything, let alone hindering police.

00:12:48.700 But the arresting officer then goes off and talks and left me alone with two other cops

00:12:53.020 holding me still with my hands tightly cuffed because I was some sort of threat.

00:12:57.960 So, I thought I might as well chat to them.

00:13:00.260 After all, I was there to get some answers.

00:13:02.920 I feel for you.

00:13:04.420 Why didn't you think they did this with Black Lives Matter?

00:13:06.740 Why didn't they?

00:13:08.280 It wasn't illegal.

00:13:09.780 It was illegal to protest in Black Lives Matter, mate. 0.76

00:13:12.280 It wasn't illegal.

00:13:13.240 What?

00:13:13.600 It was.

00:13:13.800 It was on stage three.

00:13:14.760 It was staged.

00:13:15.460 So, Ballarat's stage three.

00:13:17.400 Ballarat's the same.

00:13:18.080 Why is Ballarat illegal?

00:13:19.500 Have you got your opinion?

00:13:20.580 I don't have an opinion.

00:13:21.320 I'm asking facts.

00:13:22.520 I don't need to answer your facts.

00:13:24.040 I'm having a conversation.

00:13:25.360 You've got me handcuffed.

00:13:26.320 I agree.

00:13:27.060 I feel for you, bro.

00:13:28.180 I feel for you.

00:13:29.000 I feel for you that you have to do this.

00:13:30.840 I just want to understand why there's such a heavy-handed response to a protest that I'm

00:13:34.900 not even a part of.

00:13:35.660 I don't actually agree with half these guys.

00:13:37.340 But the fact that you're going in like this, arresting journalists because why?

00:13:42.520 Because it's stage four.

00:13:44.000 But Ballarat's stage three.

00:13:45.660 Police.

00:13:47.660 You've seen that footage, Jair.

00:13:48.760 You're not Daniel Andrews.

00:13:49.700 You're not going to deny that one.

00:13:51.460 To be honest, I don't really care.

00:13:52.800 And right there is the problem.

00:13:55.780 The government has given these unprecedented powers to a pack of power-hungry people who

00:14:01.620 don't actually care.

00:14:03.940 Then suddenly I noticed, when we were standing there, a police officer from the police media

00:14:09.620 unit walking by.

00:14:11.540 Police media unit.

00:14:13.760 How do you feel about them arresting somebody, a journalist?

00:14:16.740 I'm here as a journalist.

00:14:19.940 I have the passes.

00:14:21.240 I have the...

00:14:22.060 They've got all my things there.

00:14:23.640 They've just arrested me out of nowhere.

00:14:25.880 What's your name, mate?

00:14:27.000 Avraham Yamini.

00:14:28.740 I work for Rebel News.

00:14:30.300 Have you worked with me?

00:14:31.380 I've got my permit on me.

00:14:32.720 They've got it there.

00:14:33.340 They've arrested me for it.

00:14:34.320 They now change it to hindering.

00:14:35.660 So, I don't understand how they're in Victoria, in Melbourne, they've placed a journalist

00:14:43.180 under arrest.

00:14:44.740 Yeah.

00:14:45.140 So, you've got to be here.

00:14:46.040 I'm going to be here.

00:14:46.860 I'm going to be here.

00:14:47.320 I'm going to be here.

00:14:47.640 And a few minutes later, the arresting officer returns.

00:14:51.940 Uh, so I'm just going to give you a caution, all right?

00:14:55.360 Before we continue, I must inform you don't have to say or do anything.

00:14:58.060 If you do anything you say or do, maybe give me any evidence.

00:15:00.220 Do you understand that?

00:15:00.960 I do.

00:15:01.860 All right.

00:15:02.700 Um, the hinder, you're between our police lines.

00:15:06.360 We've got two police lines.

00:15:08.000 You're in between.

00:15:08.980 Our four-wheel commander's asked you to move, and you've got in his way.

00:15:12.960 When did he ask me to move?

00:15:14.760 The world is my witness.

00:15:16.280 You've all seen the footage.

00:15:17.860 He barges in as I'm doing a piece to camera, pointing, going, this bloke is not here for

00:15:22.760 purposeful reasons.

00:15:24.100 Put him under arrest.

00:15:25.560 Did anyone hear one time him asking me to move?

00:15:29.300 I would have complied.

00:15:30.900 I wasn't there to be in their way.

00:15:32.520 I was there to report what was happening on the ground.

00:15:35.440 It was obvious he didn't like me.

00:15:38.320 He knows me.

00:15:39.240 He recognises me.

00:15:40.100 He doesn't like the fact that I'm holding them accountable.

00:15:44.320 G'day, guys.

00:15:45.120 I'm here today at the Supreme Court, which is the highest court in the state of Victoria,

00:15:49.960 to launch our fight back against what has become the out-of-control police state.

00:15:56.880 The world has witnessed what's happening here, from unlawful arrests to police brutality.

00:16:03.580 And, of course, as you remember last week, the moment I was violently tackled to the ground,

00:16:08.600 arrested, held against my will, and sent packing.

00:16:12.600 Why?

00:16:13.460 For doing my job.

00:16:14.720 The crime of journalism.

00:16:17.220 But today, we are taking it one step further.

00:16:20.280 And I need your help to do it at StandWithAvi.com, because it's already cost $11,000 just to bring it here.

00:16:29.400 We've got Madeline Smith, and for those of you who have been following me for a while will know that she has won

00:16:34.840 every single politically motivated case that the police have brought against me so far.

00:16:41.200 Now she's helping me take the fight to them, and she's brought on Peter Hamilton, who specialises in this specific area of law.

00:16:51.380 Once we're in this court, we're likely going to need some heavy hitters to join our legal team. 1.00

00:16:55.760 So you can imagine how this will easily cost over $50,000, which sounds like a lot, I know.

00:17:02.860 But defending our freedom is priceless, especially when you're up against a state in here.

00:17:10.280 So in summary, if you give me the tools to fight them at StandWithAvi.com, we will finish the job, but I cannot do it alone.

00:17:19.820 Today, my legal team officially filed the court proceedings in this court against the state.

00:17:28.080 And we're going after them for the unlawful arrest, the false imprisonment, the excessive force of tackling a journalist to the ground who posed no threat,

00:17:39.320 aggravated and exemplary damages for the intimidation, including that creepy visit to my house with my children late at night.

00:17:46.600 But this is not only about me. This is about taking a stand against tyranny and getting our state back.

00:17:53.320 The government have gone unchallenged until now in eroding our civil liberties.

00:17:58.240 My case is just the perfect one to spearhead this fight because it's so clear cut.

00:18:05.200 They arrested a journalist.

00:18:07.080 And the full nine-page, well-written and well-argued lawsuit that has been stamped by the Supreme Court and served on Victoria Police is now available at StandWithAvi.com.

00:18:19.220 And I encourage you to read the full document.

00:18:22.040 You don't have to like me, my reporting, you can even oppose my entire worldview, but you must recognise the importance of not allowing the state to dictate what journalism is okay.

00:18:37.760 Let's do it!

00:18:38.180 He's going to be under arrest, but this guy here is going to be placed under arrest right now.

00:18:42.600 So if you're able and you're willing to pitch in what will inevitably be a very expensive battle, please go to StandWithAvi.com now.

00:18:52.360 Every cent helps and make sure to also share this campaign because together, this very little David can and will beat the big Goliath.

00:19:03.100 We have the truth, evidence and the will to fight this all the way to the top for all of our sake.

00:19:08.060 Yesterday, guys, I hit the streets once again to follow the freedom or lockdown protest, whatever you want to call them, here in Melbourne, Australia, where the protest organisers played a little cat and mouse with police.

00:19:19.800 My full report will be published exclusively to Rebel News as soon as it's ready, as soon as possible.

00:19:26.140 You'll actually get to see how filing our Supreme Court action with your help changed police tactics, but that's to come.

00:19:34.540 In this video, I decided to challenge the protesters as they dispersed from their final pop-up protest location in Footscray, which is a Melbourne western suburb at the end of the day.

00:19:45.820 It's important to note, yesterday, Victoria recorded 14 new active cases of COVID, today even lower at 11.

00:19:53.860 However, the Premier is still refusing to lift any of these harsh restrictions early.

00:19:59.260 They're here to protect us, protect Victoria from this virus that has had 14 active cases overnight.

00:20:07.020 One, four.

00:20:08.440 That's a lot of cases, isn't it?

00:20:09.740 No, that's not a lot of cases.

00:20:11.940 What do you mean?

00:20:12.300 If you do the maths, there's 6.6 million Victorians?

00:20:17.140 Yes.

00:20:17.720 What's the chances of catching the virus?

00:20:19.460 Oh, I don't know.

00:20:20.260 You'll have to do that some for me, Arby.

00:20:22.320 0.0016 or something.

00:20:24.860 That doesn't make sense.

00:20:26.660 But isn't it justified?

00:20:28.320 I just can't.

00:20:29.320 Listen, I understand.

00:20:30.320 I get where you're coming from, but there's been 14 cases overnight.

00:20:35.280 I think the economy should be shut down.

00:20:38.560 No.

00:20:39.300 What do you mean no? 0.78

00:20:40.160 You are outrageous.

00:20:41.720 You are putting us all at risk. 0.94

00:20:43.400 Shame on you. 0.98

00:20:44.220 Annual Andrews is the one killing people. 0.99

00:20:46.940 Look at suicide. 0.83

00:20:47.780 Look at the mental health crisis, which has been created.

00:20:50.920 The domestic violence, the alcoholism, the drugs, right?

00:20:54.080 Locking people in their own homes when they're perfectly healthy people.

00:20:57.180 He's the one with blood on his hands, and he's saying he's saving life.

00:21:00.980 But how can you say that?

00:21:01.980 There's been 14 cases overnight.

00:21:04.080 Don't we deserve a curfew?

00:21:05.260 I don't look at the numbers.

00:21:06.560 14?

00:21:07.000 Of course we don't deserve a curfew.

00:21:08.980 That's ridiculous to have a curfew.

00:21:10.680 Have you never been grounded before?

00:21:13.260 Everyone's...

00:21:13.740 No, not in my family.

00:21:14.680 They gave me a lot of freedom, you know.

00:21:15.880 But 8 p.m., everyone's got to be tucked up safely in bed. 0.96

00:21:19.600 It's ridiculous.

00:21:20.860 You can't travel more than five kilometres. 0.95

00:21:22.420 It's totalitarian stuff.

00:21:24.800 And we say we're a democracy.

00:21:26.100 That's not democratic.

00:21:27.540 There's nothing democratic to do that.

00:21:29.080 And no one will take responsibility because it's got nothing to do with a health crisis.

00:21:33.760 That's why they're all passing the buck.

00:21:35.620 Nice to meet you, man.

00:21:36.640 How are you going, guys?

00:21:37.440 You all right?

00:21:38.120 Yeah.

00:21:38.660 How are you doing?

00:21:39.240 Are we here for exercise?

00:21:40.620 Oh, absolutely, man.

00:21:41.520 I've got this belly to get me to run.

00:21:43.600 Me and my sister, we are like your biggest fan.

00:21:46.060 We love you.

00:21:46.620 Oh, what is wrong with you guys?

00:21:49.640 14 cases.

00:21:50.640 Doesn't that justify shunning down the economy, arresting pregnant mums, journalists, senior citizens? 0.98

00:21:57.060 Doesn't it justify?

00:21:58.260 Totally justifies it and totally justifies passing the omnibus bill to lock up people like us just for having an opinion, right?

00:22:05.460 Just for having an opinion.

00:22:06.860 Totally justifies it.

00:22:07.800 I mean, you should have done it years ago.

00:22:09.920 It's been long enough now.

00:22:11.920 14 cases today.

00:22:13.380 We don't need to be in lockdown anymore.

00:22:15.080 We certainly don't need this curfew.

00:22:17.320 Are you saying to me with a straight face that 14 cases doesn't justify shutting down our economy, curfews? 0.83

00:22:26.640 You were at the Black Lives Matters rally.

00:22:28.080 You saw how many people rocked up to that.

00:22:29.660 Why can't they do it for this too?

00:22:32.100 You know?

00:22:32.620 Why can't they?

00:22:33.880 Because.

00:22:35.280 Because.

00:22:36.740 Because, because.

00:22:38.100 Because, you know, it's just, it's a disaster.

00:22:40.500 So, what do you think the end game is here, mate?

00:22:42.420 Let me interview you for a second.

00:22:43.480 I have no idea.

00:22:44.460 I'm just really worried about the 14 cases overnight.

00:22:47.520 Oh, I know, I know.

00:22:48.920 Especially because there's been protests for three weeks in a row.

00:22:51.280 You expect these numbers to be through the roof right now, right?

00:22:54.080 Yeah, like.

00:22:54.480 We're super spreaders, apparently.

00:22:55.940 What do you mean?

00:22:56.960 I'm suspecting tomorrow's going to be 18.

00:23:00.880 I'm from the UK.

00:23:02.140 I've been over here for seven years.

00:23:03.800 My family live in the UK.

00:23:05.320 Since we've been in this lockdown, the UK, okay.

00:23:07.380 They've got 4,000 cases, new cases today.

00:23:10.040 My family have been on holiday overseas twice.

00:23:12.900 My friends go to the pub.

00:23:14.280 They do things that normal people do.

00:23:16.620 That what we are used to doing.

00:23:18.220 But you know the British are not normal. 1.00

00:23:20.120 No, we're never normal.

00:23:21.800 I just wanted to make sure.

00:23:23.140 We're not fake news here.

00:23:24.520 Can I ask you one question?

00:23:25.980 Yes.

00:23:27.260 I want to ask you, who's worse? 0.96

00:23:30.720 Dan Andrews or the poop you took this morning? 0.97

00:23:34.900 Dan Andrews.

00:23:37.700 Two weeks ago, as you probably remember, I was tackled to the ground and arrested while

00:23:43.660 reporting at an anti-lockdown march in Melbourne, Australia.

00:23:47.980 If you don't know what I'm talking about, I don't know where you've been, but head to

00:23:51.660 standwithavi.com to watch what happened.

00:23:53.920 The following week, I simply couldn't even do my job due to the continued police intimidation.

00:23:59.920 They were even coming to my home.

00:24:03.600 Victoria Police made it clear that I was their target.

00:24:06.640 I was on their list, so I stayed away from reporting at protests here in Melbourne.

00:24:11.740 But thanks to all your help at standwithavi.com, we filed proceedings in the Supreme Court against

00:24:18.500 the state, which in turn also put the state on notice.

00:24:22.660 And my boss at Rebel News, Ezra Levant, then asked me to go back to recommence covering

00:24:27.580 the protests here.

00:24:28.960 So Sunday, I got the team together and I hopped onto the protest telegram group to do my job.

00:24:36.940 So we've just got from telegram the notification that today's pop-up rally is at Chatston Shopping

00:24:45.020 Centre in about 15 minutes.

00:24:46.700 We're heading straight there now.

00:24:47.980 You can see Chatston.

00:24:49.540 Firstly, yesterday, 21 people were arrested.

00:24:52.500 And I think, I don't know how many fines were issued, numerous fines to protesters.

00:24:58.860 Meanwhile, a cluster that has grown to 34 cases in Casey, that's more cases than we had

00:25:05.020 today in the entire state, wasn't issued one fine.

00:25:10.320 So you're telling me people that are actually spreading the disease are not being fined.

00:25:15.020 But there hasn't been one case to date that has been associated to any of these protests

00:25:21.980 over the last few months.

00:25:23.480 So police are tackling, arresting, fining protesters, arresting pregnant mums, senior citizens for 0.99

00:25:34.300 not spreading the disease.

00:25:36.020 But they're letting, they're letting people who are actually spreading the disease get away

00:25:41.480 scot-free.

00:25:42.060 It's confusing to try to keep up.

00:25:44.220 This is Melbourne, Australia.

00:25:45.460 If you've got this and you go and spend time in other people's homes, you will give it to

00:25:49.200 them.

00:25:49.720 It's disappointing, but what's happened has happened.

00:25:51.480 And we're concentrating on stopping the further spread of this.

00:25:55.220 Here we go, Chatston.

00:25:56.520 You know what?

00:25:57.220 We were so close that I think we're going to get here before the police.

00:26:00.880 So we're here at Chatston Shopping Centre.

00:26:03.300 We're on telegram.

00:26:04.020 They've listed that it's going to be held.

00:26:07.020 So they're saying stop shopping immediately.

00:26:09.860 Guts are cold.

00:26:10.660 So this is a flash protest.

00:26:12.820 Unlike some of the planned ones, they're trying to avoid the police shutting it down.

00:26:19.800 So we're outside Coles.

00:26:21.620 This is where they're lifting the flash protest right here.

00:26:24.480 We're going to take one moment of silence for all those that we've lost during this lockdown

00:26:38.140 and all those that we will lose if this continues.

00:26:42.860 So if you'd stand.

00:26:45.000 There are many people that have passed away during this and there are potentially far more

00:26:52.000 people that will lose their lives due to the lockdown measures that wouldn't have lost their

00:26:56.180 life if there wasn't lockdown measures.

00:26:57.760 And why did they choose Chatston?

00:26:58.940 Do you know?

00:26:59.660 I have no idea.

00:27:01.340 I have no idea.

00:27:01.780 And are you going to get violent with that?

00:27:03.040 I am absolutely not going to get violent with him.

00:27:06.700 So it's a peaceful process.

00:27:08.020 The crowds are gaining here.

00:27:09.660 Police are still not here.

00:27:12.260 I don't reckon that dude with the guitar is going to get very violent.

00:27:15.160 I think they're moving.

00:27:19.760 They're asking everyone on the telegram group to get out now.

00:27:24.380 I think they're announcing a new location for this flash rally.

00:27:29.880 It seems like today they're doing things a little bit different.

00:27:32.980 They want to keep police on their toes. 0.91

00:27:38.160 Six ports of cars.

00:27:39.560 You have five minutes to leave and disperse.

00:27:42.220 They were bang on.

00:27:42.760 As I got into my car, police started arriving.

00:27:45.740 And minutes later, they swarmed the shopping centre.

00:27:48.800 I've lived in this area my entire life.

00:27:51.480 And I've never seen Chatston like this.

00:27:55.180 And as I drove out to exit the car park,

00:27:57.600 it had already been blocked off by a temporary police checkpoint.

00:28:03.940 So they seem like they were right.

00:28:06.200 They realise that it's going to be covered.

00:28:10.760 How are you going?

00:28:11.640 Do you have your licence in, please?

00:28:13.280 Yes, sir.

00:28:14.360 Thank you.

00:28:17.480 So they're checking my details.

00:28:23.760 Keep it rolling.

00:28:24.940 Notice here how the officer ran my plate and then quickly called his colleague to help.

00:28:37.280 That wasn't happening to any of the other cars.

00:28:39.600 So obviously, something popped up on his screen.

00:28:43.920 Hang on, sir.

00:28:44.400 Keep calling.

00:28:45.660 Yep, there you go.

00:28:56.260 Thank you very much.

00:28:57.960 No problem.

00:28:58.840 What's your name?

00:29:01.500 Abraham Yamini.

00:29:03.000 Hi, how are you going?

00:29:03.640 How are you going, mate?

00:29:04.060 You're obviously the owner of the car.

00:29:05.460 Yep.

00:29:05.960 Yep, that's all good.

00:29:07.440 He's working for us.

00:29:08.340 We've got the work permits.

00:29:09.340 We've got the work permits.

00:29:10.340 We've got work permits.

00:29:11.340 Yep, work permits for what, sir?

00:29:12.340 For media.

00:29:13.340 Work permits, please?

00:29:14.340 Yep, no problem.

00:29:15.340 What's your reason for travel?

00:29:16.340 News and media, mate.

00:29:17.340 Oh, righto.

00:29:18.340 We're here for the same thing yours.

00:29:21.340 Oh, righto.

00:29:22.340 What are you filming for, sir?

00:29:23.900 News and media, mate.

00:29:24.900 What are you filming?

00:29:25.900 News and media, publishing.

00:29:26.900 News and media.

00:29:27.900 You know that?

00:29:28.900 News and media?

00:29:29.900 It's, yep, it's on the permit, as per the regulations.

00:29:32.900 Yeah, get them around.

00:29:33.900 Have you got some...

00:29:34.900 I'll get your license here now, as well.

00:29:46.900 Try not to lose your paperwork, yeah?

00:29:48.900 Yeah, that will be unfortunate, because we probably need it another ten times today.

00:29:52.900 Probably.

00:29:53.900 So you just, what are you up to?

00:29:56.900 We're following the protest.

00:29:57.900 Ah, righto.

00:29:58.900 Basically, where are they going next?

00:30:01.900 I was going to ask you the same question, brother.

00:30:05.900 Mate, I'm trying to find out.

00:30:08.900 Alright, you've produced your work permit.

00:30:11.900 Yep, they've all got work permits.

00:30:13.900 Yeah.

00:30:14.900 No worries.

00:30:15.900 Have you got time's on there, or...?

00:30:16.900 Yep, nine...

00:30:17.900 Yeah, it's got the time, it's all filled out correctly.

00:30:20.900 Bottom.

00:30:21.900 Nine a.m. to nine p.m. the pass is for.

00:30:23.900 Thanks mate, we got it.

00:30:24.900 Thank you guys.

00:30:25.900 Thank you mate.

00:30:26.900 Thank you for your service.

00:30:27.900 Good luck today.

00:30:28.900 See you soon, eh?

00:30:29.900 Okay.

00:30:30.900 Okay.

00:30:31.900 Okay.

00:30:32.900 Thanks guys.

00:30:33.900 Look out for yourself.

00:30:34.900 There's you.

00:30:35.900 Okay, this is another important moment where...

00:30:37.900 Yeah, they're right.

00:30:38.900 So you heard that?

00:30:39.900 Yeah, they're right.

00:30:40.900 Yeah, they're right.

00:30:41.900 So you heard that?

00:30:42.900 Yeah, they're right.

00:30:43.900 So there's no confusion.

00:30:44.900 They've checked our permits this week again.

00:30:46.900 And yes, to quote the officer, yes, they're right.

00:30:47.900 We are right.

00:30:48.900 We're always right.

00:30:49.900 Because we are Rebel News.

00:30:50.900 What we're just going to do, we'll just wait just so we can clear this one.

00:30:51.900 Yep.

00:30:52.900 Yeah, yeah, no dramas.

00:30:53.900 I'm hoping for a police escort.

00:30:54.900 All right.

00:30:55.900 All right.

00:30:56.900 I'm hoping for a police escort.

00:30:57.900 All right.

00:30:58.900 All right.

00:30:59.900 Okay, this is another important moment where...

00:31:00.900 Yeah, they're right.

00:31:01.900 So you heard that?

00:31:02.900 Yeah, they're right.

00:31:03.900 So there's no confusion.

00:31:04.900 And yes, to quote the officer, yes, they're right.

00:31:09.900 We are right.

00:31:10.900 We're always right.

00:31:11.900 Because we are Rebel News.

00:31:13.900 What we're just going to do, we'll just wait just so we can clear this one.

00:31:17.900 Yep.

00:31:18.900 Yeah, yeah, no dramas.

00:31:19.900 I'm hoping for a police escort all the way.

00:31:22.900 Thanks, mate.

00:31:23.900 Thank you, mate.

00:31:28.900 You see, what's interesting is...

00:31:31.900 That's the kind of interaction with police I'm used to.

00:31:35.900 You be respectful.

00:31:36.900 They're doing their job.

00:31:37.900 I'm doing my job.

00:31:38.900 I have the permits.

00:31:39.900 They're not the ones that make the law.

00:31:41.900 They're meant to enforce the law.

00:31:42.900 We're not breaking it.

00:31:43.900 Cool.

00:31:44.900 And I got no problem with that.

00:31:45.900 I support that.

00:31:46.900 I back the blue as long as they're enforcing the laws and not overreaching and overstepping.

00:31:51.900 I also have a problem with laws that themselves overreach and overstep.

00:31:55.900 That's the problem with the state of emergency powers.

00:31:58.900 But that's not their fault.

00:31:59.900 You saw that interaction?

00:32:01.900 Beautiful.

00:32:02.900 If that's going to be the interaction all today, I think filing in the Supreme Court,

00:32:06.900 after he checked my number plate, he's obviously seen who I am.

00:32:10.900 Filing in that Supreme Court has done its job.

00:32:14.900 It's the truth.

00:32:15.900 Filing in the Supreme Court certainly changed how police responded to me,

00:32:19.900 even though I was now on their list.

00:32:21.900 Don't come to my house. 0.58

00:32:23.900 Okay, your name's on our list because there's...

00:32:25.900 What's your name?

00:32:26.900 I'm Senior Constable Barrett.

00:32:27.900 Barrett.

00:32:28.900 I'm from Frankston Police.

00:32:29.900 Frankston.

00:32:30.900 Yeah, so you can take me off your list because you're not welcome at my house.

00:32:33.900 So thanks to every single one of you who have helped me at StandWithAvi.com so far,

00:32:38.900 because without you, I would have likely been arrested again, then and there.

00:32:44.900 But that wasn't the end of the day.

00:32:46.900 As you know, I was driving on to South Melbourne Market as that was the next location protesters

00:32:51.900 told me they were moving to.

00:32:53.900 All right, we're here at South Melbourne Market.

00:32:55.900 There is a bit of a police presence here already taking down our number plate.

00:33:00.900 So I think they are expecting the protests to arrive, protesters to arrive.

00:33:05.900 There's already...

00:33:08.900 Seems like they're at all the different entrances here.

00:33:11.900 See how this day pans out.

00:33:13.900 Hey guys, what are you doing here, sir?

00:33:15.900 Media.

00:33:16.900 Media?

00:33:17.900 We've got media credentials.

00:33:18.900 Got the permits, yeah?

00:33:19.900 Can you show them to us?

00:33:20.900 Of course.

00:33:21.900 So this interaction is a little comical.

00:33:26.900 The officer walks straight for me.

00:33:29.900 Before I even reach the market, he knows exactly who I am.

00:33:33.900 And as you're gonna see, he's gonna try trip me up.

00:33:36.900 On a positive note, because I like to be positive,

00:33:38.900 they realize that randomly tackling me to the ground and arresting me is unlawful.

00:33:43.900 This time you'll see they played a very different game, and I played along.

00:33:51.900 So they were just checked on the way out of Chadston?

00:34:02.900 What was in Chadston?

00:34:05.900 We're following the protest.

00:34:07.900 It's our job today.

00:34:09.900 What was in Chadston?

00:34:11.900 Who are you?

00:34:12.900 I told you.

00:34:14.900 I'll play along.

00:34:15.900 The game was obviously to catch me saying something wrong,

00:34:19.900 that they then can use to lawfully arrest me.

00:34:23.900 Because until now, they've always unlawfully arrested me.

00:34:26.900 They need my words.

00:34:28.900 And they healed.

00:34:30.900 I look good.

00:34:31.900 I look good again.

00:34:32.900 I just want to- 0.97

00:34:33.900 And they beat you mad man. 1.00

00:34:35.900 Fucking. 1.00

00:34:39.900 Fuck. 1.00

00:34:40.900 That's what I'll do. 1.00

00:34:44.900 Did you just understand what happened there?

00:34:47.900 A local man, outlawfully within his 5k, wanted to say hi when he saw me.

00:34:52.900 saw me. But police immediately moved in on him. And then when he tried to simply film the

00:34:59.380 interaction, probably for my protection, again, they walked towards the man to intimidate him

00:35:05.220 not to, even though it's his right to. How that kind of police behavior protects us from a virus

00:35:10.140 is beyond me. Filming from, what, five to ten meters away poses no risk at all. But of course,

00:35:17.220 this stopped being about coronavirus a long time ago. Anyways, let's get back to the police

00:35:22.960 pretending they don't know anything about me. Rebel News, well-known publication.

00:35:47.220 Do you have any details? Have you got some ID for it? Yeah, I've got some ID, of course.

00:35:53.960 Does someone else want to speak to the other person?

00:35:56.960 Do you have a license in here? Yeah, license copy of my license is here.

00:36:09.960 You don't have your... No, no, I don't bring it in case. It's, it's... You can look it up.

00:36:19.260 There you go.

00:36:27.700 Yeah, of course. I'm as good looking as I am in my... I don't know, am I allowed to take it down?

00:36:33.920 I've asked him to go for ID for this. It doesn't.

00:36:49.220 This guy is relentless. He knows who I am, but he needs me to show ID. Then he orders me to pull

00:36:55.100 down my face mask to show my face. Fine. Now he claims that the license photo that every other cop

00:37:01.900 has accepted at all the checkpoints and every other police interaction until now. Suddenly,

00:37:07.720 it's not good enough because it blurs out my name a little. By the way,

00:37:11.200 on the right-hand side of Victorian licenses, there is a clear license number that he can look up on

00:37:18.800 his system and confirm my name, my face, my address, but that's okay. He's obviously fishing

00:37:23.980 for a technicality that he can breach me on. Not today, mate. You want to see my passport? Is that better?

00:37:29.940 No. There's my passport with my name. The media unit has arrived.

00:37:37.660 And we've been committed to working payment with you, do you?

00:37:40.280 Yep, yep. Yeah, of course. Not a problem.

00:37:42.980 No, I am.

00:37:43.500 Hi, Nicole.

00:37:44.080 Is that your accreditation or...?

00:37:45.360 I've got the letter from my boss there at the moment, yeah.

00:37:48.260 Who is your boss?

00:37:49.200 Rebel Media.

00:37:51.000 Yep.

00:37:52.460 And is that you or...?

00:37:54.040 I'm not Rebel Media. It's a company. It's a media site.

00:37:57.960 But who's the...

00:37:58.560 Yeah.

00:37:59.320 So, I...

00:38:00.140 So, your mini-report is this, is who's contracted?

00:38:03.040 You're the director.

00:38:03.680 Of your mini-report, which is contract and the letter at the back gives you that information.

00:38:08.920 Who's your boss is that?

00:38:10.460 Ezra Levant. They're available. My lawyers are available if you want to talk to all of them

00:38:14.600 right now. Everybody's available waiting. They're all on standby. You can talk to...

00:38:18.360 Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:38:18.860 Yep.

00:38:19.660 Do you have a copy of this that we can have a look at?

00:38:21.660 You can take a photo of it.

00:38:23.180 Yeah, if we can.

00:38:24.460 Yeah, I'd love for you to have a photo. That way you can show everyone this time maybe

00:38:27.480 won't have the same problems we had last time.

00:38:29.700 Just so we can look into it.

00:38:30.760 Maybe tell the...

00:38:31.520 The thing is, we just need to make sure, A, that we're wearing masks and airlines,

00:38:35.000 and B, that people aren't encroaching on the police operation.

00:38:38.860 When we're actually going about, when the members are actually going about doing their job,

00:38:41.940 we need their respectful distances.

00:38:43.840 I accept that. And when we were here last time and that happened and I tried to speak

00:38:47.960 to the media unit, it's the world is seen. I wasn't in anyone's way. But that's in front

00:38:51.760 of the Supreme Court, so that's all right.

00:38:53.940 Yeah.

00:38:54.940 Told you they know who I am.

00:38:56.560 But the thing is, if the police members give you a direction to do something...

00:39:00.140 If they ask me to move, I move. I understand.

00:39:04.380 We've got to protect the public, the police, and you guys...

00:39:08.520 I understand that. I understand that. I support... I think we need law and order.

00:39:12.220 I just think that the directions need to be clear and that, you know, just cause one off...

00:39:16.340 One commander didn't like me personally to target me, that's not really acceptable.

00:39:20.340 Are you guys with you?

00:39:21.340 Yes. They're both with me.

00:39:22.340 And they part of... So do you work collectively as a...

00:39:25.340 So, so... So I'm... Yeah, yeah.

00:39:27.340 They're my camera guys and that's my... Yeah. So...

00:39:30.340 Them two are with me. I don't know anyone else, yeah.

00:39:32.460 And they've got the permits?

00:39:33.460 Yeah, they've got the permits, yeah.

00:39:34.460 Yeah.

00:39:35.460 So we're all contracted to the same.

00:39:36.460 Yeah. So we're all contracted to the same.

00:39:40.460 Yep.

00:39:41.460 All good?

00:39:43.460 Seems like we got the all clear. Until suddenly, they start an entirely new line of question.

00:39:51.580 What's the Yemeni report about?

00:39:53.580 The Yemeni reports? News and current affairs. So we're contracted to Rebel News. So Rebel News

00:40:01.100 is a news and current affairs site. So I'm just one show on that site, on that, which complies

00:40:07.800 with the health directives, which is what you're here to enforce. So it's online, yeah. It's

00:40:16.920 an internet-based publishing site. It's very big. It's got millions of subscribers.

00:40:23.920 Oops. I forgot to tell him to subscribe on YouTube and to hit that little notification

00:40:29.360 button so he doesn't miss anything. But I'm sure he's watching this right now and he's

00:40:34.040 probably already a sub. He's a fan. But let's keep playing the I don't know you game.

00:40:40.160 What's the site?

00:40:42.160 Rebelnews.com

00:40:43.160 So you do stand up in front of the people, yeah?

00:40:46.160 I do in studio and on the street. Correct.

00:40:50.160 You get interviewed on the camera and then they play it over the internet.

00:40:54.160 Yeah, correct.

00:40:55.160 And that's part of your report?

00:40:56.160 That's my report, yeah.

00:40:57.160 Will I see your name on the website?

00:40:59.160 Yeah, on the journalists at Rebel News, you'll see me. I'll come up. I'm the Australian chief

00:41:04.280 Australian correspondent. It's a bad photo, so don't judge me.

00:41:10.280 Where did you do your degree?

00:41:12.280 Why does that matter? I don't understand.

00:41:16.280 Just need to dot our I's and cross our T's.

00:41:19.280 Do you ask all the journalists these kind of questions?

00:41:22.280 We know them, that's the thing.

00:41:23.280 I think most of the cops here know me.

00:41:25.520 Yeah. No, no.

00:41:26.400 This week there's a, you would have heard the Supreme Court.

00:41:29.280 Yeah.

00:41:30.400 Yeah? So you heard about it. So you obviously know who I am.

00:41:36.960 We know all the journalists, but we don't know you. But I know about your Supreme Court action against us.

00:41:44.640 It makes no difference where I got my degree or didn't get my degree.

00:41:49.120 I'm a paid journalist. That's my job. My accreditation doesn't really matter. That's not part of the health directives.

00:41:56.240 But if you want me to read you the health directives, I'm happy to do so.

00:41:59.840 Nah, she wasn't keen on me reading it to her because she knows.

00:42:03.840 The permitted industry and activity that I fall under that's written on the form in front of her

00:42:09.120 is internet publishing and broadcasting for news media purposes.

00:42:14.960 That's their word. And that precisely describes what we do here at Rebel News.

00:42:19.680 So no matter how hard police try to twist this because they don't appreciate my criticisms lately,

00:42:26.320 I'm a legal journalist working within the chief health officer's ridiculous directions.

00:42:33.600 Yeah, we were at Chadston and then we followed it here and now we keep going with doing our job.

00:42:51.760 I was a bit, it was a bit unfortunate two weeks ago your unit didn't

00:42:55.440 think it was a good idea to stick up for me.

00:43:02.960 So what's going on? Are we being detained?

00:43:14.160 It's all good. You comply, you keep by the directions, you're all good.

00:43:17.920 If there's a problem you take it to court and it changes the facts on the ground.

00:43:22.640 Excuse me guys, can we go do our job?

00:43:28.080 So this is currently where the media unit are,

00:43:30.880 so we prefer everyone to stay with the media section here.

00:43:33.600 So yeah, at the moment we're trying to, we're trying to uh...

00:43:37.360 Yeah, I don't think it's, I think you're in the wrong place.

00:43:41.440 All right, we're out. See you later.

00:43:47.120 They're in the wrong market.

00:43:48.480 The funny thing is, what she tries to do is when they've got nothing left,

00:43:53.920 she tries to question my accreditation.

00:43:59.600 It turned out that protesters were just playing with police, declaring

00:44:04.000 they're going to South Melbourne market to spread the police resources nice and thin.

00:44:08.000 And it worked because the South Melbourne market was totally blocked off.

00:44:11.440 Lockdown in, has it been good in Melbourne? If it's saving the planet, is it worth it?

00:44:14.720 I don't care mate, you know.

00:44:15.920 You don't care?

00:44:17.600 About what?

00:44:19.440 How you going mate?

00:44:19.920 Hey, how you going?

00:44:20.480 How you going?

00:44:20.800 How you going?

00:44:21.040 Yes, what's your name please?

00:44:22.000 Arvie Mini.

00:44:22.720 Yes, can you please get some more identification for me Arvie?

00:44:25.120 That's my media press card, government, Commonwealth.

00:44:28.400 Yep, do you have your driver's license on you?

00:44:29.920 I do too, yeah, but that's my government issued.

00:44:32.480 Can I please see?

00:44:32.800 Yeah, yeah, no problem.

00:44:33.600 Sure.

00:44:34.000 Do you want to copy on my passport or my license?

00:44:36.480 Either one of those, be fine, thanks.

00:44:37.840 There you go.

00:44:38.320 You're not here to protest, are you?

00:44:44.880 No, no, I've got my Commonwealth issued from the Australian Government press pass.

00:44:51.280 You're very happy with that, aren't you?

00:44:51.920 I am, I really love it because that's my press pass.

00:44:59.200 Can you spell your first name for me please?

00:45:00.640 Avraham, A-V-R-A-H-A-M.

00:45:03.280 And your surname please?

00:45:05.680 Yemini, Y-M-I-N-I. 0.99

00:45:10.560 Is your date of birth please?

00:45:11.680 17, 10, 85.

00:45:14.080 What's your purpose for being here?

00:45:15.360 I'm covering, there's a...

00:45:16.400 You're outside of your 25k.

00:45:17.760 That's okay, I'm working in the media.

00:45:19.840 Do you have your, um, your...

00:45:23.520 A copy of my permit I don't have on me now, to be honest, but, um...

00:45:27.760 Okay, you don't have your copy of your permit on you, so I'm going to ask you to leave.

00:45:30.720 You're outside of your 25k.

00:45:32.080 That's all right, I'll get a copy now sent to you here.

00:45:34.480 Um, I'm not going to move on.

00:45:36.560 Like, with all due respect, this is my job, this is what I'm paid for, you're doing your job.

00:45:40.560 Nobody's hindering you from doing your job.

00:45:42.240 You know who I am very well.

00:45:43.520 We have a current case with Victoria Police in the Supreme Court.

00:45:46.160 The last couple of rallies you've understood that and we've been, uh, we've worked really well together.

00:45:50.800 I'm not here to bother you guys from doing your job, but you're not going to move me on from doing my job.

00:45:54.720 I can give you a copy of my worker's permit.

00:45:57.040 You need to produce your permit.

00:45:58.000 I'll get that sent, I'll get that sent, I'll get that sent now here.

00:46:02.000 Um, but, uh, and otherwise I will fill one, another one out here right now.

00:46:08.080 Uh, otherwise you can go ahead and issue whatever fine you want to issue while I'm doing my job with my

00:46:15.040 Commonwealth press card, which is quite obvious what I'm doing here, working.

00:46:20.800 It's interesting, isn't it?

00:46:22.720 There's been zero cases for, uh, a week now and, uh, they're trying to intimidate me to leave

00:46:28.640 from doing my job because I forgot the piece of paper back at home, which is more than 25k's from here.

00:46:35.440 This, this is all because of coronavirus. Coronavirus.

00:46:39.120 For the, for your safety at home right now, this, this is what's happening.

00:46:44.000 The funny thing is every other protest in this state in, since Black Lives Matter have been met 1.00

00:46:51.120 with brute force. You saw Tuesday, pepper spray deployed on peaceful protests.

00:46:57.600 But today, for some reason, there's a big police presence and there are some protesters that set up a stand.

00:47:07.120 Suddenly COVID is fine. The problem is Avi Yamini is outside of his 25 kilometers.

00:47:13.440 We better jail him. I think that's a good idea.

00:47:16.960 I need to fill out another work permit. I forgot.

00:47:19.440 Oh, I've got an empty one for you.

00:47:20.480 Can you bring it?

00:47:21.120 Yeah.

00:47:21.600 Thank you. And a pen. Oh God, you know.

00:47:24.400 Guys, no matter what they think about Monica, she's actually all right.

00:47:27.760 They know who you are though.

00:47:28.640 I know, I know. They're, they're, they're having a laugh.

00:47:31.040 Okay.

00:47:31.600 All right, here you go. Keep filling.

00:47:34.720 There's a work permit.

00:47:37.120 Done.

00:47:37.360 Not a problem, mate.

00:47:44.800 Remember, this is all to save us from the deadly virus.

00:47:50.400 So, will you guys be pepper spraying the climate change protesters today?

00:47:54.240 Sorry, I'm putting you on notice now.

00:47:56.160 If you're here and you've caused some issues, I'll be asking you to leave.

00:47:59.120 All right, so under the Cornwell Act, you can't actually move me on.

00:48:01.600 I can. If you're causing a breach, of course I can.

00:48:04.320 And if you fail to move on, we can take some action from there.

00:48:07.040 So, at the moment, I never cause trouble.

00:48:11.280 You're here, you're here for media purposes.

00:48:12.560 But if you cause a breach of the peace, I'll be asking you to leave.

00:48:15.280 Well, if somebody attacks me, that's on them.

00:48:16.960 That's not on me.

00:48:17.840 You understand, we're already in court over that one.

00:48:19.600 I just want to ask as police, today, are you guys going to take the same?

00:48:22.480 You're not going to take the same?

00:48:23.920 No, not going to pepper spray the climate change protesters?

00:48:27.920 That's a bit different.

00:48:37.040 Well, that's our show for today.

00:48:41.840 Thanks so much for watching.
