00:00:00.000 Hello, my friends, a very special show today.
00:00:02.780 It's a tale of two cities.
00:00:05.080 The police cracked down on Grace Life Church in Edmonton,
00:00:08.300 including the massive display of armed firepower
00:00:11.680 of a police detachment that went out there this Sunday
00:00:15.000 to confront peaceful protesters.
00:00:17.060 Just shocking.
00:00:18.320 But even more shocking was what happened
00:00:20.000 across the country in Montreal.
00:00:22.120 17 Rebel News reporters went out there
00:00:25.080 and we stayed at an Airbnb to cover the lockdowns there.
00:00:28.080 And wouldn't you know it, police found where we were.
00:00:30.680 And they tried to storm into our Airbnb
00:00:32.680 without a search warrant.
00:00:34.660 We refused and that turned into a 10-hour standoff.
00:00:39.280 This is one where you're really gonna wanna see it
00:00:41.580 with your own eyes.
00:00:43.300 I mean, you'll hear a lot of interesting things
00:00:45.220 in the audio version, of course.
00:00:47.520 But to actually see Quebec police demanding
00:00:51.480 to be let into a hotel room without a search warrant
00:00:54.900 and to see the violence they perpetrate against our people,
00:00:58.760 you gotta see it to believe it.
00:01:00.560 I don't think you would believe it
00:01:01.740 just from listening to the audio podcast.
00:01:03.440 You'd say, no, no, that can't be happening.
00:01:05.500 It happened.
00:01:06.740 You can get the full video version of this podcast
00:01:08.840 by going to rebelnews.com and clicking subscribe.
00:01:11.600 It's just eight bucks a month.
00:01:12.700 You also get Sheila Gunn-Reed's show,
00:01:14.340 David Menzi's show, Andrew Chapazzo's show.
00:01:16.460 So lots for that eight bucks a month,
00:01:18.480 which by the way, is only about half of what Netflix costs.
00:01:21.500 And in this case, I think it's news
00:01:22.640 you simply won't find anywhere else.
00:01:25.240 Anyways, please consider subscribing at rebelnews.com.
00:01:27.800 Click subscribe.
00:01:28.960 Until then, here is today's podcast.
00:01:36.420 You're listening to Rebel News Podcast.
00:01:38.740 Tonight, Civil Liberties Under Attack
00:01:49.380 will take you from the Parkland Church in Edmonton
00:01:51.640 to the raid on the Rebels Airbnb in Montreal.
00:01:56.360 It's April 12th, and this is the Ezra LeVant Show.
00:02:01.020 Why should others go to jail
00:02:02.620 when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?
00:02:04.820 There's 8,500 customers here,
00:02:07.120 and you won't give them an answer.
00:02:08.900 The only thing I have to say to the government
00:02:10.820 about why I publish it
00:02:12.420 is because it's my bloody right to do so.
00:02:19.440 What a terrible weekend it was
00:02:21.360 for Civil Liberties in Canada.
00:02:22.920 Then again, what a terrible year
00:02:24.800 it's been for Civil Liberties in Canada.
00:02:27.020 And I regret to report what you already know,
00:02:29.700 which is if you were relying on the legacy media,
00:02:32.380 the mainstream media, the corporate media,
00:02:33.760 the government media, the bailout media for your news,
00:02:35.940 you probably wouldn't know about it.
00:02:39.380 In fact, you would probably be told
00:02:40.940 the opposite of what's happening.
00:02:43.380 I want to tell you about two big stories this weekend.
00:02:47.380 The first, what happened at the Grace Life Church
00:02:51.880 just south of Edmonton in Parkland County, Alberta.
00:02:56.140 Sheila Gunn-Reed was on the ground there. 0.60
00:02:57.820 And then I want to talk to you about what happened
00:03:00.620 in Montreal, where 17 rebel reporters
00:03:05.700 were on the ground,
00:03:06.760 and we had our own Airbnb hotel
00:03:10.140 raided by Montreal police.
00:03:12.940 Both of these are outrageous examples
00:03:15.900 of Civil Liberties violations.
00:03:18.440 In the case of Montreal,
00:03:19.460 it was deliberately targeting us for our journalism.
00:03:22.980 Finally, I'll show you the interview
00:03:25.140 that we have yet to publish
00:03:26.900 with David Menzies when he was released
00:03:29.980 from jail in Montreal.
00:03:32.440 That's right.
00:03:33.740 David Menzies was thrown in jail
00:03:36.060 and used as a sort of bargaining chip
00:03:39.680 with us by the police.
00:03:40.900 So I'll tell you that story.
00:03:42.780 But first, let's go to Edmonton,
00:03:44.940 or rather Parkland County.
00:03:46.560 As you know, the church has been praying peacefully
00:03:50.280 for months throughout the pandemic,
00:03:52.460 and there has yet to be a single case
00:03:56.340 of the virus there, let alone an outbreak.
00:04:00.780 This is what it's like.
00:04:01.860 I've been there myself.
00:04:03.400 And so, Father, we come and acknowledge
00:04:05.100 your sovereignty that this is your world.
00:04:08.700 Lord, we want to worship you this day.
00:04:12.440 We want to sing praises to you.
00:04:14.540 We want you to be exalted.
00:04:16.940 We want the gospel to sound forth
00:04:19.080 from this pulpit around the entire globe.
00:04:22.900 We want you, Father God,
00:04:24.580 to vindicate your name.
00:04:26.700 And we ask it in Jesus' name.
00:04:31.260 Amen.
00:04:32.000 In his name.
00:04:34.780 Some praise the Lord.
00:04:35.980 He can't do it.
00:04:38.660 For months, whenever the police tried
00:04:44.080 to go into the church in the middle of the service,
00:04:47.060 well, the church leaders there knew
00:04:48.520 the right way to handle it,
00:04:50.300 calmly but firmly reminding the police
00:04:52.660 that they have to obey the law,
00:04:55.760 including the law that says
00:04:57.120 it's actually a crime to interrupt a church service.
00:05:00.240 Take a look at this
00:05:00.960 and take a listen to this cop making an excuse.
00:05:04.020 We respect the work that you do in the community.
00:05:06.300 We respect you as police officers.
00:05:07.760 But in our worship service right now,
00:05:09.600 people are praying, people are singing,
00:05:11.820 people are listening to the word of God be preached.
00:05:14.280 And they can't do that with your presence in the building.
00:05:17.280 And with all due respect,
00:05:18.360 the law has now put our pastor in prison.
00:05:20.380 And so for the RCMP to come into the service,
00:05:23.640 it is absolutely a disruption.
00:05:25.740 We have seen the arm of law enforcement come against us.
00:05:30.380 So to come in our building
00:05:31.780 is absolutely intimidation at this point.
00:05:35.460 That's why we can't let you in.
00:05:37.300 Once again, I'm sorry you feel that way,
00:05:39.940 but you have to understand
00:05:40.900 that we also have a job to do, right?
00:05:42.420 Yeah, we do.
00:05:43.280 Okay.
00:05:43.920 So under that authority, that's why we're here.
00:05:47.320 We're not here to go up and down the aisles.
00:05:50.140 We're not here to interrupt the service.
00:05:51.300 But you actually will be.
00:05:52.860 No, we won't.
00:05:53.220 No, when you go inside,
00:05:54.160 you will see that you will be.
00:05:56.260 Our people are sitting right there.
00:05:59.060 And our service has now,
00:06:01.160 we are officially started.
00:06:02.920 Right now we have.
00:06:03.740 Yeah.
00:06:04.020 We've wasted time.
00:06:04.960 We were starting before that,
00:06:06.340 but now he's in the pulpit.
00:06:07.240 We were already praying and singing.
00:06:08.460 Yeah.
00:06:08.800 He's in the pulpit.
00:06:10.280 I haven't been in,
00:06:11.200 so I don't know what it's like.
00:06:12.380 But like I said,
00:06:14.100 it's not that we're here to interrupt anything.
00:06:17.360 But you will be.
00:06:18.660 And it's not an interpretation.
00:06:20.020 You will be.
00:06:20.840 It's a fact.
00:06:21.400 You will be interrupting.
00:06:22.680 We are standing firm on the criminal code 176
00:06:25.380 that protects these rights.
00:06:26.760 Yeah.
00:06:27.040 I'm sorry you feel that way.
00:06:28.520 Again, that is not our intent.
00:06:30.440 Okay.
00:06:31.080 And if there's no intent, then...
00:06:34.220 Well, I don't think intent is what it comes down to.
00:06:37.020 Well, of course, the church kept on having its services,
00:06:40.140 and so they imprisoned the pastor, James Coates.
00:06:43.820 He served 35 days in maximum security
00:06:46.920 at the Edmonton Remand Center.
00:06:48.540 The church did not stop.
00:06:50.460 They kept on opening their doors.
00:06:52.060 In fact, I visited during one of those weekends,
00:06:55.280 one of those Sunday services.
00:06:56.940 When the pastor was released,
00:06:58.500 well, what would happen?
00:07:00.080 Well, we saw what would happen.
00:07:01.780 About a week ago,
00:07:02.840 police raided the church at dawn,
00:07:07.600 and there was no one at the church.
00:07:09.780 And they, I presume, changed the locks.
00:07:12.700 They built a fence around it,
00:07:14.540 and they permanently stationed police on the property,
00:07:19.000 essentially expropriating the church
00:07:21.300 and transforming it into a paramilitary garrison.
00:07:25.820 To me, the gross touch was putting their latrines 0.99
00:07:30.240 right on the front entryway into the church,
00:07:34.680 an utter desecration that they surely would not do
00:07:37.080 with any other religion or denomination.
00:07:40.660 The reason the police turned it into a permanent compound
00:07:44.160 is they think that the church members
00:07:46.860 will simply go back in if they leave,
00:07:48.800 and they're probably right.
00:07:50.360 But just stop for a second.
00:07:52.620 If this were to have happened in another country,
00:07:55.200 let's say China,
00:07:55.960 if there were a mighty church
00:07:58.080 that 600 people were meeting in every week,
00:08:02.040 and the Chinese People's Separation Army
00:08:04.840 conquered it,
00:08:06.580 turned it into a base,
00:08:08.340 built a fence around it,
00:08:09.820 and had it as their command post.
00:08:12.020 Imagine what we would be seeing over here.
00:08:14.620 Well, here's how that looked
00:08:16.360 when it went down,
00:08:17.320 not in China, but in Canada.
00:08:18.500 Just incredible to see that.
00:08:48.440 Even more incredible to juxtapose it
00:08:50.360 with this tweet by Jason Kenney back in 2014.
00:08:55.020 He talked about how inspiring it was
00:08:57.200 when Chinese Christians physically stood 0.55
00:08:59.880 to block the People's Liberation Army
00:09:02.100 or other Chinese agencies
00:09:03.320 from conquering their church.
00:09:05.580 And then it was Jason Kenney,
00:09:06.820 the premier of Alberta,
00:09:07.920 who authorized the raid by Trudeau's RCMP
00:09:10.880 on the church this time.
00:09:12.480 It was very interesting to watch
00:09:14.900 the reaction in the local community.
00:09:16.860 For example, the neighboring Indian band,
00:09:19.860 the Enoch band,
00:09:21.320 well, they sent some drummers over
00:09:22.980 in support of the church.
00:09:24.300 Take a look at this.
00:09:25.000 Well, the big showdown, of course,
00:09:47.260 was the first Sunday
00:09:48.680 following the militarization
00:09:51.760 and the occupation of the church.
00:09:54.140 What would happen?
00:09:55.240 Would Pastor James Coates
00:09:56.620 walk onto the property again
00:09:58.300 and be arrested again
00:09:59.960 as he was a couple of months ago?
00:10:01.780 Would the church moms and kids walk on
00:10:04.560 and perhaps be clubbed by the batons
00:10:06.560 or, God forbid, worse?
00:10:07.960 I mean, if you have dozens
00:10:09.600 of armed policemen,
00:10:11.260 heavily armed,
00:10:12.340 with pistols and batons,
00:10:14.440 and who knows what other weapons
00:10:15.940 they brought in on their trucks,
00:10:17.940 doesn't that suggest
00:10:18.840 that you think you may need them?
00:10:20.620 There's a scenario
00:10:21.520 where you think you'll be shooting people.
00:10:24.900 Why would you put dozens of RCMP
00:10:27.760 with special weapons and tactics
00:10:30.100 on a church
00:10:31.680 if not for some use of them?
00:10:34.780 Absolutely raising the temperature
00:10:36.560 and provocative.
00:10:37.600 Would the church itself
00:10:39.060 rise to the provocation?
00:10:40.860 Well, the answer,
00:10:42.560 as Sheila Gunn-Reed
00:10:43.440 could have predicted,
00:10:45.880 was no.
00:10:47.740 Because his church
00:10:48.440 wasn't doing any of this
00:10:49.660 to defy the government,
00:10:51.160 to fight with the government.
00:10:52.080 They were doing it
00:10:52.780 because they just wanted to pray.
00:10:55.360 And so, incredibly,
00:10:56.240 this weekend, this Sunday,
00:10:58.720 the pastor and his congregants
00:11:01.300 didn't show up.
00:11:04.500 Now, that doesn't mean
00:11:05.360 they didn't go to church.
00:11:06.300 They had a secret service.
00:11:08.680 They went to an underground church
00:11:10.940 at an undisclosed location.
00:11:12.640 Stop and think about
00:11:13.480 how incredible that is.
00:11:14.840 A house church, 0.93
00:11:15.620 an undercover church,
00:11:16.400 an underground church.
00:11:17.160 These are terms we use
00:11:18.440 for secret churches
00:11:19.340 in places like Saudi Arabia
00:11:21.620 or China
00:11:22.900 or in the former Soviet Union
00:11:25.040 where people had to meet in secret
00:11:26.480 to pray in secret
00:11:27.540 lest the authorities
00:11:29.140 and the police state find out about them.
00:11:30.640 Pastor Coates
00:11:31.500 and his congregation
00:11:32.840 met in secret
00:11:35.080 in Canada in 2021.
00:11:36.860 How does that make you feel?
00:11:38.780 Well, there were still close
00:11:40.200 to a thousand protesters
00:11:41.580 who showed up,
00:11:42.740 not with the congregation.
00:11:44.560 As Sheila Gunn-Reed shows us,
00:11:46.240 many of them
00:11:46.820 were in the same mold
00:11:48.640 as the pastor,
00:11:50.240 praying peacefully,
00:11:51.200 in fact, praying
00:11:51.960 for a change of heart
00:11:53.280 of the cops.
00:11:53.880 Here's an example
00:11:55.040 of that singing a prayer.
00:11:57.140 Be in prayer constantly
00:11:59.640 to our God
00:12:00.560 on behalf of our province
00:12:02.400 and on behalf of our nation.
00:12:04.320 Heavenly Father,
00:12:05.260 thank you so much
00:12:06.100 for being able to be here.
00:12:07.340 Thank you for being able
00:12:08.320 to have a beautiful sunshine
00:12:09.860 shining on us.
00:12:11.120 Thank you that you are God
00:12:12.600 who looks down from the heavens
00:12:14.260 and who does thwart
00:12:15.560 the plans of the evil.
00:12:16.800 And so, Father,
00:12:17.720 I pray that you would
00:12:18.640 thwart the plans of the evil.
00:12:19.980 I pray that your kingdom
00:12:21.260 would come
00:12:21.760 and your will was done
00:12:22.700 on earth as it is in heaven.
00:12:25.000 Father,
00:12:25.400 thank you for being able
00:12:26.080 to gather here
00:12:26.900 with other believers,
00:12:28.000 gather here with people
00:12:28.940 to stand up and to say,
00:12:30.520 Father,
00:12:30.860 would you come
00:12:31.500 and would you convict
00:12:33.580 the world of their sin?
00:12:35.440 Would you convict
00:12:36.280 each one of us of our sin?
00:12:38.000 May we repent
00:12:38.600 and turn to our God
00:12:39.600 and turn from our wicked ways
00:12:40.760 that you might hear from heaven
00:12:42.200 and be our God
00:12:43.160 and heal our land.
00:12:44.600 Father,
00:12:45.120 I pray that this meeting
00:12:46.180 would honor and glorify you,
00:12:47.920 that we would honor
00:12:48.600 and glorify our leaders,
00:12:50.180 that we would honor
00:12:50.580 and glorify the RCMP.
00:12:52.460 But Father,
00:12:52.920 I pray that you would
00:12:53.880 transform the hearts
00:12:55.000 and the lives
00:12:55.460 of each one of us,
00:12:56.400 of our leaders
00:12:57.200 and of the RCMP.
00:12:58.960 Father,
00:12:59.480 thank you so much
00:13:00.380 for being able to be here.
00:13:01.380 Thank you for being able
00:13:02.260 to lift up your name
00:13:03.420 and praise you.
00:13:04.760 Of course,
00:13:05.160 there were others there,
00:13:06.800 well-meaning,
00:13:07.640 but more aggressive
00:13:08.660 in their tactics.
00:13:09.580 They thought a fence
00:13:10.680 on a church
00:13:11.400 by a police militarization
00:13:13.100 was outrageous.
00:13:14.660 And so they started
00:13:15.480 to knock down the fence,
00:13:17.680 even though the more
00:13:18.520 Pacific protesters
00:13:20.860 told them to stop.
00:13:21.960 Take a look at that.
00:13:22.640 And it was very interesting.
00:13:23.560 One faction of protesters
00:13:24.740 wanted to tear down the fence.
00:13:26.800 Another wanted to keep it up,
00:13:28.520 saying the fence itself
00:13:29.600 was not the problem.
00:13:31.020 Leave the fence alone! 1.00
00:13:34.760 Leave the fence alone! 1.00
00:13:36.020 Leave the fence alone! 1.00
00:13:50.020 Very interesting, but I think the most compelling image of the day,
00:13:54.020 one that has been viewed millions of times around the world,
00:13:57.020 is what the police, what the government, what Jason Kenney, the Premier,
00:14:01.020 Tyler Shandro, the Health Minister, Casey Madu, the Justice Minister,
00:14:06.020 and Justin Trudeau's Alberta RCMP detachment did.
00:14:09.020 They had nearby a staging ground for dozens.
00:14:14.020 I've heard reports ranging from 50 to 200 heavily armed RCMP officers,
00:14:20.020 including with gas masks, and they deployed them stormtrooper-style
00:14:24.020 when they heard that fence was coming down.
00:14:26.020 Here, take a look at this.
00:14:29.020 Now the shock troops are coming.
00:14:42.020 They have gas masks, so they're getting ready for pepper spray.
00:14:45.020 ...need protection from churches.
00:14:47.020 200 cops now.
00:14:48.020 ...Comunists and Nazis need to be protected from churches. 0.61
00:14:51.020 They're on the wrong side.
00:14:54.020 So we're at close to 200 cops now.
00:14:58.020 Gas masks, visors and stuff.
00:15:02.020 Gas masks for gas.
00:15:05.020 200 cops.
00:15:07.020 And a helicopter.
00:15:09.020 40 vehicles for one church.
00:15:12.020 Can you believe that is happening in Canada in 2021?
00:15:15.020 Well, what I would say to you is, I bet you don't know that that's happening,
00:15:19.020 or at least with those facts, if you were watching the legacy media.
00:15:23.020 Because at best, they ignore the story.
00:15:26.020 And at worst, they smear the church as being a super spreader,
00:15:30.020 or some sort of armed militant group, when in fact they're so pacifist,
00:15:35.020 they literally didn't show up.
00:15:37.020 And the worst any other protestor did was knock down that fence around there.
00:15:42.020 Normally, I think we should all be shocked that a massive police force was deployed
00:15:47.020 with guns to face families at a church.
00:15:51.020 So, so gross.
00:15:53.020 And yet, all the people who should care, don't care.
00:15:57.020 They're silent.
00:15:58.020 Just our Sheila Gunn-Reed is there.
00:16:00.020 That's what was happening in Alberta on Sunday.
00:16:04.020 But let me show you where 17 rebels were on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning.
00:16:10.020 I was one of them.
00:16:12.020 As you know, for months, we've had our reporter on the ground in Montreal, Yankee Pollock,
00:16:18.020 going out at night to show you what the lockdown is like in that province,
00:16:22.020 when they have a curfew.
00:16:24.020 Seriously.
00:16:25.020 Quebec, a province with adults as well as children,
00:16:29.020 has a curfew for adults as well as children.
00:16:33.020 It was at 8 o'clock.
00:16:34.020 Then it was extended to 9.30.
00:16:36.020 Now it's brought back to 8 p.m.
00:16:38.020 Imagine springtime when it's still light out, being told by the state you must stay home
00:16:43.020 or you will get an enormous fine and perhaps even a beating.
00:16:47.020 I'll get to that later.
00:16:49.020 Well, our friend Yankee Pollock is exempt because he's part of the media.
00:16:53.020 Media are considered essential under Quebec law.
00:16:56.020 And Yankee would go out and show what it was like during the curfews.
00:17:00.020 And police absolutely hated that.
00:17:03.020 They hated that he was reporting on them at all.
00:17:06.020 And they started saying things that, I don't know, got my heckles up calling them Jew media.
00:17:11.020 It was a refrain they used more than once.
00:17:12.020 Take a look at this.
00:17:13.020 I'm giving you my papers.
00:17:14.020 No problem.
00:17:15.020 Just...
00:17:16.020 Thank you.
00:17:17.020 What?
00:17:18.020 Who are you, sir?
00:17:20.020 I'm with Rebel News.
00:17:22.020 I'm not media Jewish.
00:17:24.020 Who are you?
00:17:25.020 What's your name?
00:17:26.020 Hello, Rebel News.
00:17:28.020 This is why we're documenting what's happening here, guys.
00:17:33.020 I know, I know Yankee.
00:17:34.020 You're friendly.
00:17:35.020 So why are we getting such a tough time?
00:17:36.020 We've been through this so many times.
00:17:38.020 Well, they were saying these things and doing these things to our Montrealer Yankee Pollock.
00:17:42.020 So we started sending other reporters in solidarity with Yankee and also to see what else was going on.
00:17:47.020 We sent Efron and Mocha and Lincoln and Sid and David.
00:17:53.020 In fact, as you saw, they were calling Yankee Jew media.
00:17:57.020 The names I just told you were not Jewish.
00:17:59.020 In fact, they're of every different background.
00:18:01.020 And yet the police had it in their mind that rebel media was Jew media, were the Jews, and were against them.
00:18:08.020 And that was fair game for them to say those things.
00:18:11.020 And anyone who simply pointed a camera at them, well, they would be arrested, handcuffed, and fined.
00:18:16.020 Take a look at this.
00:18:31.020 Hey, hey, what's going on?
00:18:32.020 Hey, hey, what's going on?
00:18:33.020 Hey, hey, what's going on?
00:18:34.020 Hey, hey, what's going on?
00:18:35.020 Hey, hey, what's going on?
00:18:36.020 Are you taking me?
00:18:37.020 Don't fight back.
00:18:38.020 Don't fight back.
00:18:39.020 Don't fight back.
00:18:40.020 Mask on.
00:18:41.020 I'm not in a crowd.
00:18:43.020 I'm not in a crowd of 20, though.
00:18:46.020 Okay, what?
00:18:47.020 What?
00:18:48.020 My colleague is, my colleague is detained.
00:18:50.020 I have to stay.
00:18:51.020 Let's go.
00:18:52.020 I'm on public property.
00:18:53.020 No, man.
00:18:54.020 Put your mask on.
00:18:55.020 I'm not in a group of 20, though.
00:18:58.020 Hey, you're too straight.
00:19:02.020 I'm not in a group of 20.
00:19:03.020 What?
00:19:05.020 Keep walking.
00:19:06.020 You want a ticket or not?
00:19:07.020 That's fine.
00:19:08.020 Okay, go.
00:19:09.020 Keep walking.
00:19:10.020 Ticket's fine.
00:19:11.020 Let's go.
00:19:17.020 I don't revolve you.
00:19:19.020 This is why we're documenting what's happening here, guys.
00:19:23.020 I know.
00:19:24.020 I know.
00:19:25.020 Yankee.
00:19:26.020 So why are we getting such a tough time?
00:19:27.020 We've been through this so many times with you guys.
00:19:29.020 Why is he being arrested?
00:19:30.020 Yeah, they just told us you were in the protest.
00:19:32.020 You're going to come with us.
00:19:33.020 Okay.
00:19:34.020 We'll understand now.
00:19:36.020 Why is he being arrested?
00:19:37.020 He's not talking about it.
00:19:39.020 Go ahead.
00:19:40.020 I'm documenting the protest.
00:19:42.020 Why did you arrest the two members of the media?
00:19:44.020 It was so obvious what they were doing.
00:19:46.020 Mocha was up in Quebec and on another day.
00:19:50.020 And like everyone else, he was standing outside without a mask.
00:19:53.020 But because he was pointing a camera at the police,
00:19:56.020 they came over and gave him a ticket.
00:19:58.020 They hate reporters, or at least reporters who report on what they're doing.
00:20:03.020 Take a look at this.
00:20:05.020 You're not allowed to manhandle somebody.
00:20:06.020 It's okay.
00:20:07.020 You're not allowed to manhandle somebody.
00:20:08.020 You're not allowed to manhandle somebody.
00:20:09.020 You're not allowed to manhandle somebody.
00:20:10.020 Why are you putting your hands on me?
00:20:11.020 He doesn't have to go anywhere with you.
00:20:12.020 Don't name my badge number now.
00:20:13.020 Don't name my badge number.
00:20:14.020 7997.
00:20:15.020 You are talking.
00:20:16.020 Oh.
00:20:17.020 You're not allowed to manhandle somebody.
00:20:18.020 You're not allowed to manhandle somebody.
00:20:19.020 You're not allowed to manhandle somebody.
00:20:20.020 You're not allowed to manhandle somebody.
00:20:21.020 Why are you putting your hands on me?
00:20:22.020 He doesn't have to go anywhere with you.
00:20:23.020 Don't name my badge number now.
00:20:24.020 Don't name my badge number.
00:20:25.020 7997.
00:20:26.020 You are talking.
00:20:27.020 I'm not part of the demonstration.
00:20:47.020 No, I'm a journalist.
00:20:49.020 I'm away from the crowd by myself.
00:20:52.020 Okay.
00:20:55.020 All right.
00:20:56.020 You want to give me a fine?
00:20:58.020 Okay.
00:20:59.020 No, I respect, but I'm not in a group of 20.
00:21:02.020 You're not.
00:21:03.020 No, no.
00:21:04.020 I am away from everyone else right now.
00:21:07.020 Okay.
00:21:08.020 You can't give me a ticket.
00:21:09.020 Okay.
00:21:10.020 Okay.
00:21:11.020 Okay.
00:21:12.020 I'll come with you.
00:21:13.020 I comply.
00:21:14.020 You can't give me a ticket.
00:21:15.020 It's no problem for me.
00:21:16.020 I have a mask that I will wear it when I interact with the crowd.
00:21:22.020 Right now, I'm by myself as you can see.
00:21:25.020 You want to give the ticket?
00:21:26.020 Okay.
00:21:27.020 Let's go.
00:21:28.020 Okay.
00:21:29.020 You don't need to touch me.
00:21:30.020 I'm coming with you.
00:21:31.020 You don't need to touch me.
00:21:32.020 Okay.
00:21:33.020 Okay.
00:21:34.020 Okay.
00:21:35.020 You don't need to touch me.
00:21:36.020 I'm coming with you.
00:21:37.020 You don't need to touch me.
00:21:38.020 Okay.
00:21:39.020 Okay.
00:21:40.020 Fine.
00:21:41.020 You know, we got 600 tickets that we're fighting.
00:21:45.020 All right.
00:21:46.020 And we have 600 tickets that we're fighting.
00:21:48.020 And if you touch me or assault me or damage my property, we have no problem suing you too.
00:21:53.020 Good.
00:21:54.020 Fine.
00:21:55.020 Thank you very much.
00:21:56.020 I'm ordering you to wear a mask.
00:21:57.020 Yes.
00:21:58.020 But I don't obey you.
00:21:59.020 You refuse to comply.
00:22:00.020 Yeah.
00:22:01.020 I don't obey you.
00:22:02.020 Yeah.
00:22:03.020 Just adding your ID.
00:22:04.020 Yeah.
00:22:05.020 Okay.
00:22:06.020 We're defending you for that.
00:22:07.020 Okay.
00:22:08.020 You have the right to a lawyer.
00:22:10.020 And if you refuse to wear a mask after that, go back there.
00:22:13.020 You're going to be detained in a cell.
00:22:15.020 In a where?
00:22:17.020 In the police station.
00:22:19.020 Why?
00:22:20.020 For not wearing a mask?
00:22:21.020 Using to wear a mask.
00:22:22.020 Wow.
00:22:23.020 Continue the infraction.
00:22:24.020 You have the right to be detained.
00:22:25.020 I'm going to release you.
00:22:26.020 You go back in the protest.
00:22:27.020 You have to wear a mask.
00:22:28.020 If you don't, you're going to be detained.
00:22:30.020 You understand?
00:22:31.020 Again?
00:22:32.020 Like this?
00:22:33.020 No.
00:22:34.020 You go to the police station.
00:22:35.020 To jail, basically.
00:22:36.020 Until the protest is done.
00:22:38.020 Okay.
00:22:39.020 You understand?
00:22:40.020 Yeah, I understand.
00:22:41.020 100%.
00:22:42.020 Well, they were abusing Yankee Pollock.
00:22:43.020 And they were abusing our team of four or five reinforcements.
00:22:46.020 So, I thought, let's all go out there and reassert our freedom of the press.
00:22:49.020 So, 17 of us went out there.
00:22:51.020 And I was looking for accommodations.
00:22:53.020 And I realized that for 17 people to go to Montreal, it might be cheaper to stay in a place we can rent in full.
00:23:02.020 And Airbnb, which as you know, is basically a modern way of booking bed and breakfasts online.
00:23:08.020 Airbnb had a unique hotel.
00:23:11.020 It was actually a boat that was turned into a permanent houseboat, permanently docked in the old port of Montreal.
00:23:17.020 And it worked out that booking this houseboat, which had been turned into an Airbnb, was actually cheaper and more convenient than staying in a real or regular hotel.
00:23:28.020 Plus, it had the benefit of being very private.
00:23:31.020 We could have the whole place to ourselves.
00:23:34.020 The place accommodated 21 people.
00:23:37.020 We were just 17.
00:23:38.020 We fully complied with all the rules.
00:23:40.020 We checked in and were assigned our rooms by the host of the Airbnb.
00:23:45.020 Everything was in compliance with the rules and the laws.
00:23:49.020 We stayed there on Friday night.
00:23:51.020 But then on Saturday morning, when we were having breakfast, all of a sudden, police came to the front and tried to get on our boat.
00:24:00.020 Take a look at this.
00:24:02.020 Any responsible on that boat?
00:24:05.020 Is there any responsible on that boat?
00:24:09.020 Nobody?
00:24:10.020 If nobody is responsible for that boat, I have the right to come in the princesses.
00:24:15.020 I need somebody to be responsible for the boat.
00:24:18.020 I don't...
00:24:19.020 Yeah, you have him over there.
00:24:20.020 Go get a warrant.
00:24:21.020 If, if...
00:24:22.020 Go get a warrant.
00:24:23.020 Get a warrant.
00:24:24.020 Get a warrant.
00:24:25.020 Yes, I have a right to be here.
00:24:27.020 Go get a warrant now. 0.97
00:24:28.020 Go get a warrant.
00:24:29.020 You're not going to get in without a warrant.
00:24:31.020 I told them to get a warrant.
00:24:33.020 Well, they didn't like that.
00:24:35.020 They pulled me aside.
00:24:36.020 Grabbed me.
00:24:37.020 Wouldn't let me move.
00:24:38.020 Key and Bexty, the same.
00:24:40.020 David Menzies, the same.
00:24:41.020 One after another, they grabbed us and wouldn't let us on the boat.
00:24:44.020 As you can see, we still had young reporters on the boat and they're smart cookies.
00:24:48.020 They kept saying to the cop, come back with a warrant.
00:24:51.020 Come back with a warrant.
00:24:53.020 The police demanded to get into our Airbnb and to go through our reporters' stuff.
00:25:00.020 Our computers, our rooms where our reporters work.
00:25:04.020 We had set up sort of a...
00:25:05.020 I mean, it was an Airbnb, but we had a computer in the main room that we're using to edit.
00:25:11.020 The police wanted warrantless access to that and it's obvious why.
00:25:15.020 For a month, we've been a thorn in the side of what's become Canada's most notorious police force for corruption.
00:25:22.020 Earlier today, we typed into Google those three words, Montreal police corruption.
00:25:27.020 And just look at the endless, endless news stories about corruption going all the way to the top.
00:25:34.020 Canada's most corrupt, most abusive, most violent police force had finally found some media criticism and they were going to get their revenge.
00:25:45.020 Quickly, 30, 40 police came out front in bicycles, in cars, in trucks, and they kept demanding warrantless search and entry into our hotel room.
00:25:59.020 And I kept saying, no, get a warrant.
00:26:02.020 And so, since they couldn't find a judge who would give them a warrant, they decided to punish us.
00:26:08.020 They turned the entire area into what they called a crime seat.
00:26:14.020 They pushed us around, wouldn't let us get back on the boat.
00:26:17.020 Here's them manhandling me. 1.00
00:26:19.020 Now, they didn't rough me up too much.
00:26:32.020 Here's them manhandling Kian Bexty. 0.54
00:26:35.020 David, my nose is really itchy.
00:26:38.020 I mean, my pups.
00:26:40.020 Can I scratch my nose?
00:26:42.020 Did you scratch my nose?
00:26:44.020 It's super itchy.
00:26:49.020 This is heartbreaking for me because we tend to flash back the glue up.
00:26:57.020 This is something else.
00:27:00.020 But the absolute worst was what they did to David Menzies.
00:27:03.020 By the way, we were all standing outside the ribboned off, you know, that yellow police tape, that orange police tape.
00:27:10.020 We were all standing outside of this by now.
00:27:13.020 But they weren't getting what they wanted.
00:27:15.020 They couldn't find a judge to give them a search warrant.
00:27:18.020 We did nothing wrong.
00:27:19.020 And then we wouldn't let them in.
00:27:21.020 We did nothing wrong.
00:27:22.020 So they decided to, I don't know, I know it sounds crazy to say it, but I think they decided to get a hostage.
00:27:29.020 Take a look at this.
00:27:30.020 Did you touch him?
00:27:31.020 Why did you touch him?
00:27:33.020 No, no, no.
00:27:34.020 He drove into me.
00:27:35.020 He drove into me.
00:27:36.020 He drove into me.
00:27:37.020 Are you hiding your name?
00:27:38.020 Hey, hey, hey.
00:27:39.020 Keep your distance.
00:27:40.020 Hey, hey, hey.
00:27:41.020 Okay?
00:27:42.020 Do you want to get arrested for us?
00:27:43.020 You, he, just me.
00:27:44.020 Here are the bugs.
00:27:45.020 Here are the bugs.
00:27:46.020 Shame.
00:27:47.020 Shame.
00:27:48.020 Shame.
00:27:49.020 Shame.
00:27:50.020 Shame.
00:27:51.020 Shame.
00:27:52.020 Shame.
00:27:53.020 Shame.
00:27:54.020 Shame.
00:27:55.020 Shame.
00:27:56.020 Shame.
00:27:57.020 Shame.
00:27:58.020 Shame.
00:27:59.020 Shame.
00:28:00.020 Shame.
00:28:01.020 Shame.
00:28:02.020 Shame.
00:28:03.020 Shame.
00:28:04.020 Shame.
00:28:05.020 Shame.
00:28:06.020 Shame.
00:28:07.020 Shame.
00:28:08.020 Shame.
00:28:09.020 Shame.
00:28:10.020 Shame.
00:28:11.020 Shame.
00:28:12.020 Shame.
00:28:13.020 Shame.
00:28:14.020 Oh, you know that?
00:28:16.020 Shame.
00:28:17.020 Shame.
00:28:18.020 Shame.
00:28:19.020 Look at that.
00:28:20.020 Four fucking cops.
00:28:21.020 Shame.
00:28:22.020 Shame.
00:28:23.020 Shame.
00:28:24.020 Shame.
00:28:25.020 Shame.
00:28:26.020 Shame.
00:28:27.020 Shame.
00:28:28.020 Shame.
00:28:29.020 Hey, how many guys does it take and hold the guy, huh?
00:28:31.020 the guy, huh? This is what you're going to school for. They took David Menzies, arrested him, put
00:28:37.440 him in the police car, and later took him to what he told me was the dirtiest jail cell you can
00:28:42.540 imagine. We'll have a full interview with David in a moment. But they took David away, and then they
00:28:47.700 pushed the rest of us even further away. Take a look at this, and look at the violence. Look at
00:28:52.860 the casual nature they have as they are violent towards women in particular. This is the police
00:29:00.740 group of people who come here to observe, and here they come. Here's where we're going.
00:29:09.740 Why are you touching me? Why are you touching me? Why are you touching me? Why are you touching
00:29:16.740 me? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why do you need? Hey, hands off her. Hands off her, man. 1.00
00:29:27.740 You're pushing me with a bicycle. Are you kidding me? Watch your fucking bike. Watch your fucking
00:29:46.740 bike. Watch your fucking bike. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame.
00:29:54.740 Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame.
00:29:59.740 You're very tough. Good job. You can push a girl. Good job. 1.00
00:30:03.740 Good job. Good job. You're so strong, man. Good job.
00:30:05.740 Look at a strong man over here. Oh, you're a-
00:30:08.740 Oh, you're a- 1.00
00:30:10.740 Oh, you're a- 1.00
00:30:11.740 Oh, you're a big guy. Oh, you're a big guy.
00:30:12.740 Oh, you're a big guy.
00:30:13.740 Oh, you're a big guy. Oh, you're a big guy.
00:30:14.740 I listen on it.
00:30:16.240 You're all creamy.
00:30:16.740 I'm a-
00:30:17.740 Don't touch my phone.
00:30:19.740 Excuse me.
00:30:20.740 No, I want to see your name. Thank you.
00:30:22.740 I want to see my phone.
00:30:23.740 There's their names.
00:30:26.740 What I'm about to tell you is incredible. In fact, it's so incredible, I thought perhaps I
00:30:30.900 misremembered it. So I just checked with our lawyer today. Did I remember this correctly?
00:30:36.660 And she said, yes. We had three lawyers working with us that day. As I said, they arrested David
00:30:42.820 and they took him away. We had a senior criminal lawyer said, oh, they'll just give him a summons
00:30:48.080 for a court date and let him go immediately. But it turned into one hour, two, three, four, five
00:30:52.240 hours. And then the police said to our lawyer who was on the scene, if you let us search the Airbnb
00:31:00.300 without a search warrant, we'll let David go. And if you won't, we won't. They were literally using
00:31:10.900 him as a bargaining chip. If David did something wrong, which of course he didn't, that's its own
00:31:15.700 thing. But to use that to extort entrance into our Airbnb because no judge would give them a search 0.92
00:31:22.640 warrant, that is truly outrageous. But that's how you roll in Canada's most corrupt police force.
00:31:29.800 So it was 730 at night and we had been in this standoff with the police for around 10 hours when
00:31:37.020 suddenly we heard word that they had released David from the police station. And suddenly the police were
00:31:43.780 packing up their police tape and just leaving. We were free to go back on the boat. No one was given
00:31:51.340 any tickets. It was just done. Here's a little video I recorded from the roof of the boat. I was still
00:31:58.320 sort of stunned by it. Take a look.
00:32:00.920 It's 742 p.m. Another beautiful night in Montreal. Look how gorgeous it is. But I've spent the last 10 or 11
00:32:08.060 hours kicked off this Airbnb houseboat that we paid for because a group of Montreal police demanded
00:32:16.040 access to the boat for no probable cause with no search warrant. That's the gate right there. I told
00:32:22.700 them to get lost without a search warrant. So they turned the whole place into a crime scene, literally
00:32:28.260 putting up criminal do not pass police tape. They arrested my friend David Menzies and held him in a
00:32:34.240 police station for hours. And they roughed up. Well, they even pushed me around a little bit and
00:32:38.960 Kim Bextie too. Trouble is they couldn't find a judge to sign their cockamamie search warrant because 0.96
00:32:45.840 we did nothing wrong. We rented an Airbnb that had a capacity of 21 and there were only 17 of us here
00:32:52.560 and we were just having breakfast. It's really a hotel. That's all. So I'm very happy to say I'm back
00:32:58.820 on the boat. I don't know if you can tell that I'm literally on the boat. There's three cops down there,
00:33:03.800 but you know, they're just enjoying the overtime they're making. And, um, you know, we're gonna
00:33:11.000 retake the boat. We're on the high seas. I mean, my nickname at rebel news is the rebel commander. So
00:33:17.560 I guess I'm the commander of a boat again. Anyways, the police disgraced themselves. I'm glad that we
00:33:22.200 didn't knuckle under to their bullying. And I'm sorry that David Menzies was put into custody. So
00:33:28.120 illegally, I still love Montreal. In fact, I love it even more because now I know how badly it's been
00:33:32.840 victimized by police. It does not deserve this awful police force that it has. And, and they're
00:33:39.160 frankly shameful. And if they think they're going to stop us from reporting on their brutal policing
00:33:45.160 of the lockdown, they're dead wrong. And they're going to have to do a bit better than they did
00:33:48.680 today. We still have a lot of legal bills. We're told that massive fines will be coming to us in
00:33:53.080 the mail. We're going to have to fight them. And I think we have to go on the offensive too.
00:33:56.840 Please help us with that. I can't fight this fight alone. We're massively overspent. You saw
00:34:02.040 that I've spent like a hundred to one. You saw what they had going on today. So if you can,
00:34:08.200 please go to lockdownreports.com. Thanks very much, everybody. We had a win today. Let's savor it.
00:34:14.920 I read in today's La Press that they're going to be mailing us various penalties, fines, and tickets.
00:34:20.200 Obviously we'll fight all those. And I understand that David Menzies has a court date in Montreal.
00:34:25.000 Obviously we'll fight that like hell too. He wasn't arrested for doing anything wrong.
00:34:29.800 He was arrested as a bargaining chip. They couldn't convince a judge to let them search our reporter's
00:34:35.240 stuff. So they thought they could take one of our people and bargain his freedom to get in. 0.82
00:34:41.560 Well, when David arrived, I saw him coming down that ramp where he'd been pushed up.
00:34:46.600 And I walked up to him and here's my interview with him. It's about six minutes long.
00:34:51.320 Here's what David said happened to him after they snatched him.
00:35:02.120 I'm sorry you went through what you went through, but you're a hero for journalism, a hero for free
00:35:12.920 speech, a hero for the rule of law, a hero for rebel news, and a hero to me. A hero for the concussion
00:35:18.200 industry. You know what, I'm so sorry you went through what you did. It was surreal. But everybody
00:35:23.880 saw, the world saw it. I hate the fact that you too often have been the target of police violence.
00:35:30.200 And I pledge to you as the Boston Rebel News and as your friend, that we will seek justice for you
00:35:36.920 through taking legal proceedings against the police.
00:35:40.760 You don't have to make that pledge. You always have our backs here. So thank you.
00:35:45.480 How are you doing? Tell us a little bit about what happened after they put you
00:35:49.400 in the back of the vehicle. Well, I was brought to a jail and they took all my belongings,
00:35:54.840 I guess as a regular procedure. And then I was brought to a cell and the cell was filthy. I wish
00:36:00.680 I had my cell phone, but they don't allow it there. There were, I don't understand this. There was all
00:36:05.880 kinds of bits and pieces of half eaten food, like muffins and sandwiches, and they were just strewing
00:36:12.040 everywhere. I had to clear a bench for myself. The toilet was unflushed. It stank.
00:36:18.040 But the worst part of it is, Ezra, the boredom, especially someone like you. Imagine you being
00:36:25.640 separated from your devices, your books. You have nothing to do but to look at a jail cell.
00:36:32.440 And all I could think of, I thought of a couple of things. The two Michaels that have been there for,
00:36:38.360 all coming up for a thousand days. I experienced a few hours that felt like an eternity. What,
00:36:44.680 I don't know if these individuals will ever be the same. And I thought of Chris Guy on the no-fly list.
00:36:50.360 And I thought about me in a jail for practicing journalism. And then I thought about Omar Khadar
00:36:54.920 getting a $10.5 million check for practicing terrorism. Like, Ezra, the world's insane.
00:37:02.120 It is insane. And I hate the fact that your personal experiences have to prove it. But I look at today,
00:37:09.560 some might see a failure. Our time was wasted. We've incurred many thousands of dollars in legal fees.
00:37:17.000 It stressed everyone else out. And worst of all, you spent hours in jail. That's a failure to most
00:37:23.640 people. But I believe it's a success in one way. It proved our thesis that the Montreal police is corrupt,
00:37:32.120 that they're brutal. And that other journalists in this city, and indeed this country, don't care about
00:37:38.440 freedom of the press. So, your sacrifices, and thank God you look like, although it was rough,
00:37:44.760 you look like you're not deeply injured.
00:37:48.680 Inside I'm crying.
00:37:50.280 Listen, you've got such a good sense of humor about everything. But my point is,
00:37:57.080 what you personally experienced proves our thesis more than anything about the rotten state of
00:38:02.920 affairs. So, let's get you back on the boat. We retook the boat. Let's get your feet up. 0.62
00:38:08.120 I'm so happy about that.
00:38:09.240 And you know what? We did have a win in the end. And I'm glad you're okay, my friend.
00:38:15.160 Well, thank you. I have to come back to this city that is normally beautiful. In May, I have to get
00:38:20.120 mug shots and fingerprints, and the whole rigmarole. But you know, we've seen bad behavior by policing
00:38:27.800 the world over. Avi Amini getting tackled in Australia. The UK, that's another level. You know,
00:38:33.320 Toronto acting up pretty badly since January. This is another level.
00:38:38.200 Yeah. This is, you know, I'm saying this with a degree of naivety. The only experience I've ever
00:38:44.200 had with the Montreal Police Service is via Just for Laughs Gags, one of my favorite shows. And I
00:38:50.360 thought, what an incredible police service giving their cruisers, their uniforms to the comedians
00:38:55.400 to do these elaborate pranks. I could never see Toronto doing that. And so I always thought they had
00:39:00.040 this kind of like jocularity about them. Yeah, that's a PR exercise. This is the real Montreal
00:39:07.320 point, etc. But I'm glad all's well that ends well. I'm glad you got the boat bagged in my presence.
00:39:13.640 But I can't hardly wait to hear that story. Sure. Well, I mean, we were busy doing what we could
00:39:18.200 while you were in the joint. And we had a lawyer going full tilt. From what I hear, you obviously
00:39:24.920 have been charged and you'll have to come back in a few months. We will obviously cover your legal
00:39:30.360 defence. We have three excellent lawyers in Montreal who we were working with today. We will have a top
00:39:37.480 legal defence for you. But we don't just play defence. You mentioned our friend Avi Amini.
00:39:43.640 We're suing the brutal Victoria Police for him. We're suing two other police forces in Canada right now,
00:39:49.720 York Regional Police and the Toronto Police Service. We will serve this most corrupt police force,
00:39:57.320 the Montreal Police, with a lawsuit for their various offences against us, assault, false imprisonment,
00:40:04.600 false confinement, whatever our lawyers advise. So, David, we've got your back. Don't worry about
00:40:10.200 the legal costs. I know we can rely on our crowdfunding viewers at lockdownreports.com.
00:40:17.720 We will get justice for you, my friend. Ezra, you're the best boss ever. Well, you're nice to say it.
00:40:22.920 You have been through too much. And today, the tide was turned. The day started awfully when they tried
00:40:30.760 to invade our Airbnb with no warrant. But the day ended well with your freedom and our retaking of
00:40:37.240 the boat. And tomorrow, we go on the hunt. Okay. Well, in the meantime, we better get on the boat. We've
00:40:44.120 got an hour and 10 minutes before curfew. All right, my friend. We're so glad you're okay. Thanks for
00:40:49.800 suffering for all of us. Thank you so much, Ezra. All right.
00:41:03.960 Just incredible. Obviously, we're going to support David every step of the way. I feel terrible
00:41:08.840 that he happens to be the one who gets the brunt of it so many times. Other police forces, even that
00:41:14.600 one time he was attacked by a dog. I'm tremendously grateful to David for showing his courage and his
00:41:19.560 good humor. Isn't that something? After sitting in a filthy jail cell, he still had his sense of humor
00:41:24.920 about him. And he was still just happy to be on the team of rebels. In fact, the next night, he went back
00:41:31.240 out there with our chief videographer, Mocha, and David. And they went out there for a protest against
00:41:38.040 the curfew. And they noticed something. It was a wonderful, positive protest to people who didn't like
00:41:44.360 masks, didn't like curfews. But amongst them were some black block style Antifa thugs that had a double 0.89
00:41:53.800 purpose. First, they liked smashing things up anyways. But if they could smash things up and light fires
00:42:00.520 at an anti-lockdown protest, they could have the blame for their riot on the head of the peaceful
00:42:09.160 protesters. It was a double win. Burn stores down, trash capitalism, which they love to do. 0.81
00:42:16.920 But to defame and discredit peaceful anti-lockdown protesters. Take a look at what Mocha and David
00:42:23.640 filmed on Sunday night.
00:42:31.400 uh
00:42:37.160 uh
00:42:45.160 uh
00:42:49.160 oh
00:42:49.400 uh
00:42:52.440 oh
00:43:01.400 Guys, I don't know the rules.
00:43:03.400 I don't know the rules.
00:43:31.400 What an incredible weekend.
00:44:01.380 What a stressful weekend.
00:44:02.700 Are you as proud of our reporters as I am, whether it's Sheila Gunreed out there in Parkland
00:44:08.600 County at the Grace Life Church every weekend telling the truth in a way that's so compelling
00:44:13.700 that no other media does?
00:44:15.040 Are you proud of her?
00:44:16.040 Are you proud of David and all our young reporters, Mocha, who's fearless, and all our youngsters
00:44:22.300 who even when I was being detained by police and they had the strength to say to that cop,
00:44:29.120 you will not get on here without a search warrant?
00:44:32.800 Aren't you proud of those youngsters?
00:44:35.080 Some of them are as young as 21.
00:44:36.900 In fact, one new reporter joined us.
00:44:38.740 He just turned 18.
00:44:40.540 Aren't you proud of their gumption?
00:44:42.240 The next generation of rebels.
00:44:44.540 I feel great about it.
00:44:45.520 And you know, in the end, we had that victory.
00:44:47.780 And I felt like we bonded as a team.
00:44:51.400 And I feel like we know our work is important and we have to keep doing it.
00:44:56.180 If the Quebec police are cracking down on us so brutally, that tells us that we're doing
00:45:02.080 something right.
00:45:02.700 Now, it's obviously hard to do.
00:45:06.100 We have to pay for the legal defense for David when he's called back to Montreal.
00:45:10.580 We haven't received in the mail what La Presse says is coming.
00:45:13.760 I don't know, tens of thousands of dollars worth of fines.
00:45:16.780 Obviously, we're going to fight them.
00:45:18.160 We're not going to pay them.
00:45:19.720 But most of all, we cannot stop doing what we're doing.
00:45:24.240 We have to continue to.
00:45:25.820 We can't let Canada's most corrupt police force win.
00:45:29.520 We can't let them intimidate us, physically hurt us, storm us out of the news business.
00:45:35.680 It looks like they've managed to turn Montreal's local media into lapdogs instead of watchdogs.
00:45:43.160 Well, we will be the watchdogs.
00:45:45.080 We will continue to shine a light of scrutiny on them.
00:45:47.780 I think that city needs it and the whole country needs it.
00:45:50.460 We're going to put all the videos up from our trip to Montreal at lockdownreports.com.
00:45:55.880 17 of us were out there and we were kept off of the boat for a long time.
00:46:00.520 The houseboat that we were renting is an Airbnb.
00:46:02.880 So we didn't have a time to process all the videos we made.
00:46:06.520 We're still catching them, but probably will be for a few days.
00:46:09.400 That said, you can find it all at lockdownreports.com.
00:46:12.900 I don't know what the legal bill here is going to be.
