Rebel News Podcast - DAVID MENZIES ｜ Trans Women in YCMA Changing Rooms; Quebec Election Update

00:00:00.000 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, ladies and gentlemen, and the rest of you, in which we look back at

00:00:04.740 some of the very best commentaries of the week by your favorite rebels. I'm your host, David Menzies.

00:00:10.220 So the YMCA in Port Townsend, Washington, decided to permanently ban 80-year-old Julie Jermaine 0.98

00:00:19.000 for hate and discrimination after she expressed concerns about a trans woman in the female

00:00:27.540 changing room. That kicked off dueling protests in the town last Saturday, and Katie Davis Court 1.00

00:00:34.060 has all the details. And the Quebec provincial election is in full swing, but when it comes

00:00:40.520 to media coverage, one of the parties is not like the others, which is to say that since the beginning

00:00:47.560 of the campaign, Rebel News has covered events put on by Quebec Solidaire, the Quebec Liberal Party,

00:00:54.260 and the Conservative Party of Quebec. Ah, but when it comes to the party seeking re-election,

00:01:00.220 and that would be Francois Legault's CAQ, Rebel News is media non grata. In fact, Legault has even

00:01:08.380 sicked the cops on our reporter, Alexa Lavoie. But what is he afraid of? Alexa will try to make 0.99

00:01:15.820 sense of it all. And letters, we get your letters, we get your letters every minute of every day.

00:01:20.920 And I'll share some of your responses to my report on the OLG, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming

00:01:27.120 Corporation. They have a COVID policy still in place, which is to say, you can buy lottery tickets 24-7

00:01:35.540 at your local retailer. But when it comes to going to the OLG's prize centre in downtown Toronto,

00:01:42.200 you must make an appointment weeks in advance. And you must go during very restricted hours because,

00:01:50.140 well, it's too dangerous to go into the night cutting checks, apparently. Science!

00:01:57.420 Those are your Rebels. Now let's round them up.

00:02:10.360 Katie Davis Court reporting for Rebel News. I am on the ground today in Port Townsend, Washington,

00:02:14.820 where a group of self-described patriots are rallying against the YMCA's decision to permanently

00:02:21.160 ban 80-year-old Julie Jemond from the swimming pool after she allegedly witnessed a trans woman, 0.93

00:02:27.440 a biological male, watch little girls undress in the women's changing room. Now, 0.54

00:02:32.140 this group of patriots are standing today, they say, for women's rights and counter-protesters have

00:02:37.260 arrived, who are standing by the YMCA's decision to ban Miss Julie Jemond. There's a heavy police

00:02:44.360 presence here today. I'm not sure what to expect. If you would like to support Julie, please go to

00:02:49.300 letherswim.com and sign the petition.

00:02:51.340 I was pushed. I was shoved. I had both of my suffragist's legs stolen by a mob that was very disrespectful

00:03:00.920 towards a group of women, elderly, older than myself. How is it that women come out to speak 0.90

00:03:08.720 and are shut down and pushed around and threatened? What is happening to the freedom of speech for women?

00:03:17.900 Why are we doing this rally today?

00:03:20.900 Because we're looking at the ultimate inversion. And what I mean by inversion is that facts are not

00:03:26.220 subjective to people's opinions. Factually, I'm a man. Factually, you're a woman, right? 0.95

00:03:32.160 The darkest days in history are often represented when we invert facts and we replace them with

00:03:37.420 opinions. It's a common predecessor to othering. We just saw othering several days ago when the

00:03:43.420 Fuhrer, Joe Biden, got on the news and said, hey, basically, these people who disagree with my

00:03:48.540 political dichotomy, they're the enemies of the state.

00:03:50.940 Too much of what's happening in our country today is not normal.

00:03:56.220 Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations

00:04:03.740 of our republic.

00:04:06.160 That was an official White House statement. That wasn't a campaign speech. He had two Marines,

00:04:10.760 you know, that were standing there. So when they say, well, you know, Julie's not here today.

00:04:15.280 I think it's funny when Antifa now begins to talk about individual rights. I thought they could care

00:04:18.980 less about individual rights. You can't have your cake and you can't eat it too. At the end of the day,

00:04:23.900 I don't think that men should be allowed to be voyeurs and sit in locker rooms and stare at women or

00:04:28.880 little girls. Well, they get undressed. Beyond that, the national message that's going out is you need 0.96

00:04:33.080 to be afraid. If you're a conservative, if you're a constitutionalist, you need to be afraid. You need

00:04:37.080 to keep your head down. You need to shut the hell up. You've known me a long time. The last thing I'm 1.00

00:04:41.280 going to do is keep my head down and shut the hell up. So why we wanted to do this today is we knew we'd get a

00:04:46.420 huge reaction. With huge reactions, bring media. And this is my call out. This is our scion call to

00:04:52.260 everybody saying they want you to sit down. You stand up. They want you to shut up. We want you to

00:04:55.900 speak. Activate, organize, network, prepare, support, unite, defend. This is our republic. It's not theirs.

00:05:04.200 Obviously, if the YMCA is going to kick them out, they did something wrong. And it happened multiple

00:05:08.100 times. Right. So how do you feel about this group coming to town today? Okay. I think that they have

00:05:14.000 no right to say anything because they're not trans. Well, now, doesn't that last comment say 0.67

00:05:19.640 it all, folks, that the patriots in support of the grandmother who was banned from the YMCA,

00:05:26.320 they have, quote, no right to say anything because they are not trans, end quote. Geez, 0.57

00:05:33.080 was that really a segment that was filmed in the United States? And is that lady really an American? 0.95

00:05:39.520 Because, honey, I hate to break it to you. Identity politics does not trump the First

00:05:45.460 Amendment. Wow. And joining me now is our Seattle-based reporter, and that would be Katie

00:05:51.380 Davis Cord. How are you doing there, Katie? I'm doing great. How are you, David? Oh, doing

00:05:57.680 fantastic. You know, so, Katie, that was an astonishing report you did with the two sparring

00:06:05.660 protests regarding this 80-year-old lady banned from the YMCA. But are these the new rules when 0.93

00:06:12.700 it comes to debate in Washington state? Namely, if you have an opinion regarding an identifiable

00:06:19.620 group, you must be a member of that particular group in order to voice it. And if you're not,

00:06:25.820 then, well, just keep your mouth shut. Katie, how did this attitude ever take root in a nation

00:06:32.240 that cherishes freedom of assembly, freedom of expression, and, of course, freedom of speech?

00:06:39.040 Right. It's rather quite astonishing. You know, you see gender identity politics really taking over, 0.59

00:06:44.760 and they have their roots in the Pacific Northwest. And if you have a dissenting view, or you even just

00:06:51.460 express and challenge that narrative of, should a transgender woman really be, or just transgender

00:06:58.740 individuals in the first place, should they really be in biological sex areas? Because that really

00:07:06.240 opens the door for criminal activity. And I'm not saying all trans people are perverts, or even 0.69

00:07:15.040 remotely like that. The majority of them are absolutely not. But it opens the door to criminal activity. 0.93

00:07:21.620 You don't know what's going to happen. People take it for advantage, and the abusers will come

00:07:30.320 through. And so if you have a dissenting opinion in the state of Washington, you're not welcomed. And

00:07:36.240 the progressives have taken over. It is one view. It's their way or the highway. But you are starting

00:07:42.000 to see the conservatives start speaking out and really start making their voices heard. But news doesn't

00:07:47.540 show that. So mainstream media here and local news is a big issue, which is why independent journalism

00:07:53.740 is so important, because you wouldn't even know that there was a conservative side in Washington

00:07:58.220 state. Washington is actually a purple state. You have a very far left blue dot, which is Seattle. And

00:08:06.500 the surrounding areas of Seattle are very democratic. But you go to the east side, it is as conservative

00:08:14.760 as can be. And I think things are going to start getting exciting in this state. The conservatives

00:08:19.740 are starting to unite, start speaking out. So we'll really see what happens.

00:08:24.180 Well, certainly hope, as always, abounds, Katie. But you know, it's very interesting,

00:08:28.720 this shutting down the debate, shutting down the discourse, especially in a land which has the

00:08:35.380 Constitution, which has the Bill of Rights, beloved documents for anyone who embraces freedom.

00:08:41.060 And I think part of it, Katie, is the indoctrination process, especially in post-secondary schools,

00:08:48.260 where you see this mindset take root, punch a Nazi. Now, if somebody was hellbent on World War,

00:08:57.140 if somebody was trying to concoct a genocide, yeah, I think the Nazi descriptor fits and maybe a punch 0.91

00:09:05.680 is worthy. But when they say Nazi, Katie, they just mean somebody with a contrarian opinion.

00:09:14.000 And it's not to be met with words or other ideas or debate. It's to be met with violence.

00:09:20.620 And this is just the most recent example. And look what we're talking about, an 80-year-old lady 1.00

00:09:27.200 who has justifiably an issue with a biological male in the ladies' change room. And she's made 1.00

00:09:35.720 out to be the villain. How do you make sense of this, Katie?

00:09:39.320 Right. Well, you don't. And, you know, you mentioned the Nazis. So when I was out there

00:09:44.420 reporting over this weekend, it was a rally. It was conservatives standing up for women's rights.

00:09:51.100 And the counter protesters were standing by the YMCA's decision to ban Julie because they refused

00:09:59.180 to listen to her concerns and have just deemed them transphobic. So they say, get Julie out, 1.00

00:10:06.220 even though she was a swimmer there for 35 years. But you see these signs calling these people Nazis

00:10:12.120 when the main organizer of the event is Jewish. So you have these, actually, it's crazy. 1.00

00:10:21.100 It's crazy to make sense of this. And you have these, you know, gender identity. They are stuck 1.00

00:10:27.880 in their one way of thinking. Any dissenting view is you're a racist and Nazi homophobe. And they're 1.00

00:10:35.900 dead set on those views. And their comments are actually inciting violence against who they deem as

00:10:43.280 political opponents. And it's crazy that we are in this stage of America where you are not,

00:10:49.460 if you are a conservative, you are not entitled to have those views. And I, you know, it's a very

00:10:57.140 scary place that we're at. It's kind of dumbfounding that we even got to this place. But I'm going to

00:11:04.700 say a lot of the problem is conservatives, they allow themselves to be canceled here in at least

00:11:13.500 Washington State. They are too afraid to speak up. Because when you do, you get that label placed

00:11:19.060 on you, but they can't stay silent anymore. And they kind of dug themselves into the hole that

00:11:25.720 we're in now because they allowed the left to deem their views unacceptable.

00:11:32.700 You know, I think you've touched upon a very important topic here, Katie. You even see Republicans

00:11:38.480 today, and they'll talk about Donald Trump. They say, you know, we love this policies. We love what

00:11:43.240 he did for the economy. We love what he did for world security. But, you know, and the but means,

00:11:49.700 you know, these nasty tweets of his, but they're not really nasty. It's the but is what made Donald

00:11:57.400 Trump. What I'm saying is that he called out political correctness. He called out wokeism.

00:12:03.200 That's what made Donald Trump the complete package. There is no buts when it comes to Donald

00:12:09.540 Trump. And to see Republicans, conservatives drink that Kool-Aid, it is indeed disturbing. But

00:12:16.960 for the subject at hand, Katie, you know, a couple of weeks ago, the Democracy Fund here in the GTA,

00:12:24.520 they put on a form about radical transgenderism. We, one of the speakers was the mother of a

00:12:32.480 athlete that was losing to Leah Thomas. That's the biological male in the NCAA swimming program.

00:12:39.940 She was tearing up at times. But basically, what she was told when you boil it down

00:12:45.720 is that inclusion trumps fairness. So in other words, it's completely unfair for a man to go up 0.54

00:12:54.360 against a woman in a sport other than equestrian and auto racing. But in the name of inclusion,

00:13:00.660 that is the be all and end all. Katie, this is madness to me.

00:13:06.760 Oh, it absolutely is. They are essentially erasing biological females from our spaces. 0.97

00:13:14.120 They are targeting females. You're no longer allowed to be a female. And not just that, 0.99

00:13:19.840 they are, you know, they're taking over women's sports, but they're also taking over 1.00

00:13:24.980 the narrative. I mean, they're changing the narrative that men can get pregnant, something

00:13:29.780 that is so special and unique to a female individual. The transgender movement. I mean,

00:13:37.120 I'm someone that is tolerant. I think transgenders, they do have a place in society. People should be

00:13:43.760 kind. No one should be rude to anyone. But they can't come in and take over female spaces. They are 0.84

00:13:53.360 still biologically men that are imposing on what makes women unique and beautiful and 0.63

00:14:03.180 contributes to society. There's different roles. And my opinion on the women's sports issue

00:14:12.340 is they need to make their own transgender leagues, to be fair. Because if they say that,

00:14:19.760 oh, well, the hormones make the men, you know, more female and they're less, you know, they're less 0.75

00:14:27.880 strong at their sports. They don't win as well against, you know, their male counterparts. Well,

00:14:34.220 they need to make a league of their own to instill fairness because it's not fair.

00:14:38.920 I totally agree. What a great line, a league of their own, like the movie from the 90s about the

00:14:44.600 female baseball players. Give them a league of their own to play. Then stand back and get out 1.00

00:14:51.900 of their way. That sounded good. You know, that's the thing, Katie, I'm not anti-trans. I mean,

00:15:00.920 if you're talking about an individual who wants to take hormone shots, dress as the other sex, 0.99

00:15:08.720 slice and dice their genitalia, for that matter, and you're going to live your life in the suburbs 0.96

00:15:14.820 or the downtown condo and not bother anyone, hey, I'm all for freedom. It's radical transgenderism. 0.99

00:15:21.620 And I think it's a pillar in there, along with critical race theory, that it's part of what,

00:15:28.960 you know, the wonderful Mark Levin talks about American Marxism. In other words, it's about tearing

00:15:35.800 everything down that made America great to rebuild it as a communist utopia, which, of course, 0.62

00:15:44.560 has never happened in the history of the world. And you're absolutely right. I think, you know,

00:15:51.980 you know, when it comes to women, why is it that at that protest, I didn't see any, you know, 0.98

00:16:00.440 feminist groups standing up for the 80 year old grandmother. I would argue that the YMCA by being

00:16:08.120 so-called inclusive to the transgender man is actually practicing misogyny. They are being 0.87

00:16:15.720 anti-female. Where's the feminist movement in this argument? Right. I totally agree. That's an 1.00

00:16:22.220 excellent point. So after the incident, a women's rights groups actually came out to Port Townsend and

00:16:29.240 stood with Julie Juman. They said that transgender people really don't have the right to be in women

00:16:36.780 only spaces in such an intimate setting. But when they decided to rally, they were attacked by men,

00:16:44.180 grown men in the city of Port Townsend over their views. And this was not political. And I just want

00:16:49.680 to throw this out there. Julie Juman, she's a Democrat. She's a social justice activist, someone that has 1.00

00:16:54.600 rooted her career in political activism. And after they rallied, they were attacked by Antifa,

00:17:05.640 by men. And what was most shocking to me was the mayor of Port Townsend, David Faber,

00:17:11.900 after these elderly women were attacked, he wrote a tweet and expressed support for those attacking

00:17:19.260 the women saying, what a beautiful display of hope and how the event gave him so much hope for the

00:17:30.200 future of Port Townsend and the inclusive community that is coming to them. So that is why the majority

00:17:36.900 of them were not in attendance on Saturday because they were attacked. And it's a scary thing. If you

00:17:45.400 aren't, it's a very scary thing in the state of Washington, if you don't have the support that

00:17:53.880 you need, you're not going to continue speaking out because you will get a talk for your views if

00:17:59.620 they dissent from the leftist narrative. And, you know, Katie, I wonder if the mayor really means

00:18:05.740 what he says, or is his narrative driven by the fact that with the intimidation tactics,

00:18:11.800 the coercion tactics, which you've been a victim of by the likes of Antifa, is he worried about them

00:18:17.700 showing up on his front lawn, condemning him as a transphobe? But what a weakling. And I got to tell 0.97

00:18:24.700 you, the most despicable men I tend to meet out there in the field are those men who self-declare 0.78

00:18:30.580 that they're a feminist because they're more misogynistic than pro-feminist. One last point, 0.76

00:18:37.660 Katie, I got to tell you, I mean, you're a new recruit to our team and it's great to have you.

00:18:42.780 Five years ago, I did a social experiment. I actually dressed up as a woman and went to a 0.59

00:18:48.660 taxpayer funded pool in Toronto that had set aside an hour a day for a so-called Sharia swim. So in

00:18:57.320 other words, females only of the Muslim faith, the windows were papered over because, you know, 0.98

00:19:02.780 you weren't even allowed to gaze upon it. And I went in there. Oh yeah. It was an incredible

00:19:08.380 experiment because I went in there as perhaps the most ugly looking female in the history of the 1.00

00:19:14.040 planet in a bathing suit. And I wanted to gauge the tolerance. Now, one lifeguard said, we're getting 0.85

00:19:20.760 complaints about you. And if they continue, I'm going to ask you to leave. Another lifeguard came up to me

00:19:25.200 and said, I totally believe what you stand for. And you're welcome to use this pool. The point I'm

00:19:31.800 getting at, Katie, something that was totally parody, satire five years ago has actually come

00:19:40.680 to fruition today, i.e. biological men invading women's spaces. And hey, the ones complaining, 0.63

00:19:48.380 they're the problem, not the invader. Last word goes to you, Katie.

00:19:53.600 Right. That's a great point. I mean, it just shows where we're at, but it's not just the United States.

00:19:57.760 It seems it's happening across the world, at least in Western civilization. So I guess we're in for a

00:20:04.700 treat with the new world order, whatever the World Economic Forum has in store for us, because I have

00:20:09.920 a feeling it's only going to get worse. Yeah, I'm afraid you're right. Hey, everybody,

00:20:14.520 how are you digging that new normal and building back better? Oh my goodness. Katie, it was a wonderful

00:20:20.600 report. You stay safe out there and have yourself a great weekend as well. Great. Thanks, David.

00:20:27.960 Okay. Thank you. And that was Katie Davis Court in Seattle. Keep it here, folks. More of Rebel Roundup

00:20:34.100 to come right after this. So hey, Alex, I'm currently in Laval. I don't know if you remember

00:20:42.060 our last report about Mr. Legault, but we were at Laval des Rapides and police officer

00:20:49.040 did escort us out of the event.

00:20:52.580 The politics has always been to exclude Rebel News.

00:20:54.940 Thank you. Thank you very much.

00:20:56.060 And that's only the card?

00:20:57.600 I'm going to ask you to leave.

00:20:58.620 And that's only the card?

00:20:59.880 I'm going to ask you to leave.

00:21:01.420 Today, Mr. Legault is here at the restaurant Rob for having a lunch with some volunteers and

00:21:08.460 some candidates. But as you know, we can see multiple police officers and as well as private

00:21:15.500 security that are all around the restaurant, making sure that no, nothing happened and everything

00:21:23.020 is safe for the premiere. So we are here because we have a couple of questions for Mr. Legault.

00:21:30.140 Has, if he will reveal all the unappeal offer that he gave during the pandemic and as well,

00:21:40.540 why he keep denying and refusing to have a public investigation on what happened to the CHSLD,

00:21:49.900 the elderly facility. So we will try to catch Mr. Legault. Let's check it out.

00:21:55.180 It's normal that you all give me interviews, but Mr. Legault...

00:21:58.380 So we are here today because as you know, the 3rd of October, it will be the final vote

00:22:11.980 for deciding who will be the next leader of the province of Quebec. And as you know, Mr. Legault,

00:22:19.740 it's currently our premier, but it's really difficult to get close from him. And it's really difficult

00:22:27.500 to ask questions. As you know, their party have decided to exclude rebel news, but we are here.

00:22:34.620 We continue to be there to be able to ask questions. So we were able to observe that every single person

00:22:43.500 who were around the perimeter, they were questioned by the police to ask what they are doing here. And if

00:22:52.700 they had nothing to do here, they were asked to leave.

00:22:59.820 We weretó.

00:23:10.540 So we don't have an autobus.

00:23:13.420 We have nothing to respect, Madame.

00:23:15.740 We don't have any respect, Madame. We don't have a permit that we're there.

00:23:19.660 So Mr Legault have a bus just right there for the tour, but you just see it, Mr Legault doesn't take the bus, he takes private car.

00:23:44.660 So double sender again. I was there, all this security from the police were all surrounding the perimeter.

00:23:54.060 And you know what? I say I'm a journalist and you laugh in my face.

00:23:57.700 Now riddle me this, folks, who's afraid of the lovely and talented Alexa Lavoie? 0.95

00:24:03.640 Well, Justin Trudeau is, we know that, even though we successfully sued in federal court in 2021, again, to be allowed into the federal leaders debate.

00:24:13.120 Prime Minister Blackface would not take Alexa's questions. 0.94

00:24:17.520 And now it's deja vu all over again, isn't it?

00:24:20.420 As Premier Legault refuses to take questions from Miss Lavoie.

00:24:25.360 And even worse, Alexa gets the bum's rush from police and security guards. 0.97

00:24:30.940 You see, law enforcement types rightfully consider Alexa armed and dangerous. 1.00

00:24:35.860 Oh, not with firearms or knives, mind you, but with tough questions.

00:24:41.220 And the media party sluggos, well, those people, they dare not ask those questions. 0.99

00:24:47.360 How shameful.

00:24:48.480 And with more on Alexa's quest to get some answers from the Premier of Quebec running for re-election,

00:24:55.380 here is Miss Lavoie herself. 1.00

00:24:57.380 Bonjour, Alexa.

00:24:59.700 Hello.

00:25:00.480 Hello there.

00:25:01.140 So, Alexa, I got a laugh out of that goon telling you to stay in a specific area of the parking lot called the safety zone. 0.88

00:25:12.320 And as that is being said, a cameraman with the mainstream media waltzes into the other part of the parking lot.

00:25:19.660 Presumably that's called the unsafe zone.

00:25:22.980 That's a new one for me, Alexa.

00:25:24.780 What the hell is going on?

00:25:26.300 So, I went there for, like, trying to get some questions to Mr. Legault, but I didn't know, like, last time he said that with the exclude ruben news,

00:25:38.200 so I was not capable to get my questions to Mr. Legault.

00:25:41.620 But again, of course, the security, I put the perimeter just right where I should not pass.

00:25:50.080 Unfortunately, Mr. Legault is the same as Mr. Trudeau.

00:25:57.520 They don't like to be face-to-face to real questions, especially with, like, the really bad hand of, like, their four years being the Premier in Quebec.

00:26:12.680 So, we know that lots of questions have not been answered by him.

00:26:18.740 So, of course, I was just standing there and I was waiting for him to get out of the restaurant that he actually rent out all the place

00:26:28.180 because he is so scared that some other people who pass in the business can maybe is being a threat to his security.

00:26:37.840 I knew that, like, every call was, like, starting up to be working and I was like, okay, so it's coming up soon.

00:26:50.960 But I saw one of the cameramen from the mainstream getting behind me and I was like, well, Mr. Legault will probably not pass by here, so what are you doing here?

00:27:02.900 So, I didn't really bother at the beginning, but I was watching Guillaume and saying, like, why he's doing that?

00:27:11.480 And at the second that Mr. Legault went out of the door, he started to film me and film my interaction with the police.

00:27:21.020 I was like, what do you expect?

00:27:23.060 And it's why I turned around and I looked at him saying, like, what are you doing?

00:27:28.540 Why are you filming me?

00:27:29.740 And I was like, you want to create a story with probably me, like, being blocked by the police?

00:27:38.080 Nothing is interesting there.

00:27:39.640 So, first of all, that disturbed a little bit me because I wanted to focus to say my question to Mr. Legault.

00:27:47.500 I was, of course, really far away because they blocked me to pass.

00:27:53.040 And when I say at the end, I say, why Mr. Legault doesn't take his own bus, but a private car, like, still, like, suburban big car.

00:28:02.260 I was like, this is not hypocritical to not, like, taking the camping bus that a lot of money has been spent there, but you use, like, another private car.

00:28:15.500 You promote being really green and to stop to produce, like, a lot of CO2, but you're using one extra car just for yourself going all around the province.

00:28:29.720 Well, and, you know, Alexa, I'm sorry to cut you off, but I found that so fascinating in your report.

00:28:36.180 The elaborate lens Mr. Legault would go to to presumably give you the slip because he's friendly with the mainstream media types.

00:28:44.060 The fact that there's that giant campaign bus with his face on it.

00:28:47.400 And meanwhile, he's buggering off in a nondescript SUV.

00:28:53.520 And you're right, there's the hypocrisy part of the equation in terms of the carbon footprint.

00:28:58.140 But what I want to get at is that I think this speaks very damaging about Mr. Legault's character,

00:29:06.740 that he cannot have the spine, he cannot have the wherewithal to take questions from an alternative news organization.

00:29:16.360 And I know your questions are tough, but I know they're going to be fair too, Alexa.

00:29:20.640 And I liken it to when Donald Trump was in the White House, and whether you love or loathe Donald Trump,

00:29:26.960 and of course, I love the man, he never shied away from the media and tough questions.

00:29:33.000 And, you know, he would get into it with Jim LaCosta of CNN.

00:29:37.340 In fact, I think Trump actually enjoyed the sparring, you know, the battle of wits.

00:29:42.860 But we have leaders in this country, so-called, like Mr. Legault, like Mr. Trudeau.

00:29:48.960 It's like they're little, you know, they're too sensitive to entertain an impolite question.

00:29:55.400 Again, Alexa, I would ask these men, why are you running to be a leader in the first place?

00:30:01.380 Mm-hmm. And a lot of people told him, like, recently that he is more arrogant than before.

00:30:12.020 And he doesn't try to look nice with people.

00:30:16.100 It's always this, this highs that just, like, show that, oh, I'm so superior.

00:30:23.100 Just go away. 0.98

00:30:24.200 And he cannot, yeah, but it's all he is.

00:30:27.960 He's not, he has not this beautiful way to be close to the people.

00:30:34.420 Actually, more we see him, more we hate him.

00:30:37.580 But that's not the point.

00:30:39.180 The point is, like, he cannot stand the opposition, cannot stand independent media,

00:30:44.720 cannot stand the people who think differently than him.

00:30:47.940 And he just cannot stand everything that is not him.

00:30:50.820 Well, you know, Alexa, fair enough, but that doesn't give him the right to run Quebec as

00:30:56.480 though it's a banana republic.

00:30:58.320 Actually, I shouldn't call it a banana republic.

00:31:00.060 You don't grow bananas in Quebec.

00:31:01.700 How about a maple syrup republic?

00:31:03.580 How's that?

00:31:05.100 Tell me, Alexa, here's the big question, regardless of all this street theater that we have to

00:31:11.840 go through in trying to track down this man.

00:31:15.280 What are his chances of getting reelected?

00:31:19.300 What do you see in Quebec in terms of potential regime change?

00:31:25.460 I know whenever I've gone to Montreal to cover a demonstration, the F la go chant is always

00:31:33.620 very loud and very prominent.

00:31:35.780 And I might add, so many of the people that have a hate on for him are young people.

00:31:42.540 You know, they're, you know, so I think that speaks volumes.

00:31:45.220 What do you think is going to happen on election day in La Belle Provence?

00:31:51.380 But I would say, first of all, like the young people, most of them, they don't vote. 1.00

00:31:55.600 That's true.

00:31:56.140 They don't care about voting.

00:31:57.900 I know.

00:31:58.360 When we come to like 30s, 40s, it's when you realize that it's really important to vote

00:32:06.840 for telling what you really want because you see all the problematic on the system.

00:32:13.020 It's really when you really open your eyes.

00:32:15.580 And afterwards, the growing up and the more old people, they like the stability. 0.95

00:32:23.900 They have this kind of fear to change because they think that all what they know will just

00:32:30.840 fall apart, especially for the elderly people.

00:32:34.360 You know, they like the stability.

00:32:36.320 What they have, it's good for them.

00:32:38.540 So they don't go and see further to see like what is the real problem like in the country.

00:32:44.480 They just see, okay, I'm good.

00:32:46.560 I'm settled.

00:32:47.940 Do I need more?

00:32:49.320 No, I'm going to vote for the same prime minister that we call in French, but premier.

00:32:55.880 Because Legault, it's good with the elderly people. 1.00

00:32:59.880 They give some money and they actually promise to give more money for the 70 and plus.

00:33:07.820 And so I have the impression that Legault is paying for their vote because he knows that

00:33:14.520 these generations will vote for him.

00:33:17.420 He knows that it will win them.

00:33:20.060 So it's why it's not, Mr. Legault is not even daring to go to a debate of idea with the

00:33:29.240 children, like the eight, like young people, I would call it. 0.55

00:33:35.140 He's not daring to go there.

00:33:37.240 So it wasn't there when it was the kind of debate between the parties.

00:33:43.160 So only four of them were there because he knows he has no vote there.

00:33:48.740 He doesn't care.

00:33:50.440 I got to tell, Alexa, it is staggering to me because I think Quebec probably had the absolute 1.00

00:33:57.340 worst record on the COVID file these past two and a half years.

00:34:01.080 I believe it was the only jurisdiction, I think, in North America that actually implemented a

00:34:06.760 curfew.

00:34:08.140 And you saw how heavy handed they were with citizens, with independent media.

00:34:14.480 I think this is a most undeserving man to get reelected.

00:34:19.640 But we'll see what the people have to say.

00:34:21.600 One last point, because I know you have to go.

00:34:23.240 So maybe, Alexa, we have to get creative in getting our questions out to Premier Legault.

00:34:31.060 And by that, I mean our logo at Rebel News.

00:34:33.800 It's the megaphone.

00:34:35.820 Maybe you have to equip yourself with a megaphone so you can bellow your questions 50 meters away.

00:34:42.280 At least you'll be able to hear them.

00:34:43.820 What do you think about that, my friend?

00:34:45.920 I would say everybody just chip in generously so I can have a speaker to go and speak up against

00:34:53.980 my Premier.

00:34:55.180 Oh my God.

00:34:56.440 How comical.

00:34:57.420 But he's the one writing the jokes, that's for sure.

00:35:00.560 Well, Alexa, thank you so much.

00:35:01.980 And you have a great weekend, my friend.

00:35:04.100 Thank you.

00:35:04.540 You too.

00:35:05.300 Thank you.

00:35:06.320 And that was Alexa Lavoie in Montreal.

00:35:09.340 Keep it here, folks.

00:35:10.440 More of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.

00:35:13.820 David Menzies for Rebel News here in downtown Shawano.

00:35:18.960 Well, folks, I'm at the OLG Pride Center.

00:35:22.440 And I'm here because as the world is moving on in these basically post-COVID-19 times,

00:35:29.460 it looks like the OLG is the government bureaucracy that time forgot, which is to say that as we

00:35:36.760 head into 2023, the OLG is carrying on as though we are still in 2020.

00:35:44.540 That's because here at the Pride Center, service is extremely restricted.

00:35:50.180 You can no longer walk in to claim a prize from a winning lottery ticket.

00:35:54.820 You have to make an appointment.

00:35:58.060 And in addition to that, the hours of operation used to be until 7 p.m.

00:36:04.040 And now it is only till 4 p.m.

00:36:07.320 And those appointments, sometimes it takes days, sometimes it takes weeks.

00:36:12.280 They don't care.

00:36:13.540 Now, I'm curious why that is.

00:36:16.460 And I reached out to Tony Petonti of the OLG because I was told by Jennifer, they don't

00:36:25.120 give their last names, they don't give their company numbers, that this was all due to health

00:36:30.900 and safety reasons.

00:36:32.720 Here's Jennifer, I believe, from Sousa Marie.

00:36:35.640 And by the way, are the hours in terms of buying lottery tickets, are those restricted too?

00:36:43.120 No, they are not.

00:36:44.420 Okay, so that's odd.

00:36:45.800 So you can buy the tickets anytime, but you can only, you know, schedule more than a week ahead

00:36:54.700 and before 4 p.m., because God forbid those workers stay past 4.

00:37:00.600 And this is in the name of COVID.

00:37:03.640 So it's kind of funny how buying tickets, you're not affected by COVID, but claiming

00:37:08.620 the money, getting the check, you are.

00:37:10.800 I don't understand the science behind that, Jennifer.

00:37:18.140 As I said, I can't speak to that.

00:37:20.100 However, if you wanted to go ahead and make an appointment, we can start the process and

00:37:24.120 I can get your information and get you on the appointment list for that day.

00:37:28.320 But you said that it was due to COVID earlier.

00:37:34.580 I'm just confirming what you said.

00:37:36.480 Okay.

00:37:36.880 Some of the changes that have been put into place, yes.

00:37:42.240 Okay.

00:37:42.780 But as I said, I'm not in that department.

00:37:45.120 I don't know all the changes that have had to be made, but we have made a lot of different

00:37:49.820 procedural changes, which have made things different than what they used to be pre-COVID.

00:37:56.980 So you made procedural changes that made things different prior to COVID.

00:38:05.520 I don't understand what that means.

00:38:10.020 Things now are different than what they were before COVID.

00:38:13.500 So there you have it.

00:38:14.920 It's, again, health and safety.

00:38:17.300 But here's the thing.

00:38:18.900 Why is it that it's a health and safety issue when it comes to claiming a prize, that you

00:38:26.960 need an appointment, that the hours of operation are limited until 4 p.m.

00:38:31.540 But when it comes to buying lottery tickets, well, you can do that 24-7.

00:38:36.840 And you don't need an appointment, of course.

00:38:39.000 You just go into a store and slap your money down.

00:38:41.500 So it's very much of a double standard.

00:38:44.160 Now, Tony Vitanti at least did pass my queries to him along to somebody at the customer service

00:38:50.540 department of the OLG.

00:38:52.940 And that person's name is Corrine M.

00:38:56.440 She was a senior customer care specialist.

00:38:59.600 And this is what she had to say.

00:39:02.440 OLG's price center is dedicated in providing our customers the best possible experience.

00:39:08.480 Our appointment process, which evolved as a result of the pandemic, allows us to optimize

00:39:14.760 our performance and better serve our customers.

00:39:17.700 That is why the appointment process continues today.

00:39:21.220 And she goes on to say that this is now permanent.

00:39:25.400 But wait a minute.

00:39:26.720 The pandemic is not permanent, or is it?

00:39:29.420 And she further goes on to say that this is somehow a good thing for customers, that this

00:39:41.180 is an enhancement of the customer service process.

00:39:46.320 So less service equals more service.

00:39:49.840 I just don't get that.

00:39:51.400 But again, the double standard is egregious and appalling, I think, in the fact that you

00:39:58.800 can purchase your tickets anytime you want.

00:40:01.960 But if you want to get your prize, well, you're going to have to make an appointment.

00:40:06.680 You're going to have to take time off work.

00:40:08.600 And you're going to have to pay for parking.

00:40:10.220 And yada, yada, yada.

00:40:11.640 And so it goes.

00:40:12.680 So anyways, I do have a winning ticket.

00:40:14.980 That's why I've been allowed in here.

00:40:16.860 It's a small amount, about $2,500.

00:40:19.880 And I'm not optimistic.

00:40:23.940 I am going to get paid because I'm in a file, evidently.

00:40:29.240 They know I file critical reports of the OLG.

00:40:33.940 So ultimately, I have to go to small claims to issue a claim for them to give me my rightful

00:40:41.840 winnings.

00:40:43.000 Let's see what happens today.

00:40:44.960 Two, right.

00:40:46.140 And actually, they didn't.

00:40:47.880 Oh, no, you said this way, sir.

00:40:50.860 And you turned around and said, I'm not going anywhere.

00:40:52.980 No, you said my business here is done.

00:40:55.260 And I said, it's not done because I don't have my money.

00:40:58.180 You've been asked to leave.

00:40:59.880 No, no, you never said that.

00:41:01.500 I can't leave.

00:41:03.120 Okay.

00:41:03.440 Are you asking me now?

00:41:04.580 Yes, ma'am.

00:41:04.880 Okay.

00:41:05.180 And what is your name?

00:41:06.080 I'm Clayton Morgan.

00:41:07.500 Clayton Morgan?

00:41:08.340 Yeah.

00:41:08.580 Okay, then.

00:41:09.180 All right.

00:41:09.820 I'll leave.

00:41:10.180 I'm not going to cause you trouble.

00:41:11.040 All right.

00:41:11.320 No problem.

00:41:11.900 Thank you very much.

00:41:12.800 Okay, then.

00:41:13.260 Just to let you know, these guys have a file on me, and they are not giving me my rightful

00:41:19.720 winnings because of the reports I file on them.

00:41:22.420 Okay.

00:41:23.260 I think this is scandalous.

00:41:24.900 Okay.

00:41:25.240 And basically what I have to do is go to a small claims court in order to get my winnings,

00:41:31.220 which is an added $100 for me to file the claim.

00:41:34.120 But this is the racket they're running here.

00:41:36.560 Okay.

00:41:36.980 You know, I know you're a good guy.

00:41:38.620 I like you.

00:41:39.540 I've met you before here.

00:41:40.600 Yes, sir.

00:41:41.400 Yes, sir.

00:41:41.800 A good guy.

00:41:42.740 These guys, this is a criminal racket.

00:41:47.380 Okay. 0.97

00:41:48.940 You should be ashamed of yourself.

00:41:50.140 My mother tells me that every day.

00:41:55.460 Really?

00:41:55.980 Why does she say that?

00:41:57.760 Because you're running, you're working for a crown corporation that denies rightful winners

00:42:04.180 their money?

00:42:04.780 Have a good day.

00:42:05.040 I asked you to leave.

00:42:05.920 Have a good day.

00:42:06.140 Yeah, I'm leaving.

00:42:07.040 I'm leaving.

00:42:07.160 There you go.

00:42:07.720 Okay.

00:42:08.940 So there you have it.

00:42:10.160 They claim my information is insufficient, even though I've given them all my data.

00:42:16.360 I've given them my driver's license.

00:42:19.180 I have told them the location of the retailer and named the retailer.

00:42:25.960 That would be a Petro Canada in Vaughan.

00:42:28.780 And once again, that is not sufficient information for them.

00:42:33.200 Science.

00:42:34.260 You can buy lottery tickets 24-7 without fear of catching COVID, folks.

00:42:38.400 But if you want your winnings, you need to make an appointment days or weeks in advance.

00:42:45.520 And then the prize center shuts down at 4 p.m.

00:42:48.620 because apparently it's unsafe to cut checks into the early evening.

00:42:53.800 Like I said, science.

00:42:55.960 Oh, and if you have the temerity to ask impolite questions, then it's...

00:43:03.120 No prize.

00:43:04.420 Okay.

00:43:04.700 You had plenty to say about the scandalous OLG yet again.

00:43:10.600 Hurley P. writes,

00:43:12.080 Don't waste your money.

00:43:13.500 Government lotteries are a rip-off operation.

00:43:16.680 Ah, but here's the rub, Hurley P.

00:43:19.640 The ostensible policy reason of governments running gambling monopolies

00:43:24.260 is that they allegedly abide by the philosophy of social responsibility.

00:43:30.320 Translation, the private sector can't possibly be trusted to sell liquor and lotto tickets,

00:43:36.160 but the government is more responsible and more trustworthy.

00:43:41.280 Insert drumroll here.

00:43:44.020 Jake Jakerson writes, 0.95

00:43:45.780 That security clown is just another taxpayer cash suck-up and is exercising authority he doesn't have. 0.97

00:43:53.880 Yeah, he was a bit too smug for my liking, to be truthful. 0.98

00:43:58.140 Easy for him to say, your business here is done.

00:44:02.000 He's not the one going home empty-handed after all.

00:44:05.220 Alberta Brain writes,

00:44:08.220 Lotteries are government tax grabs.

00:44:10.700 Oh, I totally agree.

00:44:12.560 But I think it goes without saying that the OLG or any other government gambling organization

00:44:18.580 must pay out jackpots when they are won fair and square.

00:44:23.360 And then to withhold winnings due to an ideological disagreement?

00:44:29.460 That's outrageous, that's egregious, and it's even downright illegal.

00:44:35.340 Julian Cormier writes,

00:44:37.600 Translation, our new procedure-slash-policy allows us more control-slash-lack-of-service toward our customers.

00:44:45.880 It also has allowed us to cut more jobs-slash-staff in order to serve you better.

00:44:51.300 Bingo Julian, isn't it great running a monopoly?

00:44:55.140 The rules of the free market economy simply do not apply.

00:44:59.900 And Sir Sunrise writes,

00:45:02.280 Seems like they are stalling to do payouts.

00:45:06.180 I'm surprised they're not asking what your vaccine status is.

00:45:11.060 Oh, please, Sir Sunrise, don't give these grifters any new ideas.

00:45:17.060 Well, that wraps up tonight's edition of Rebel Roundup.

00:45:20.600 Thank you so much for tuning in.

00:45:23.280 Have a great weekend.

00:45:24.700 And as always, folks, keep in mind, without risk, there can be no glory.

00:45:51.680 Thank you.
