On this episode of The Ezra LeVant Show, host Ezra Levenkamp is on board the Rebel News Cruise, and he's talking about bail reform, and why it's so important. He's joined by a guest on the cruise, Tamara Leach.
00:00:19.640Well, hi, everybody. I am in a boat. I'm on a boat. I'm in my cabin.
00:00:24.580As you may know, Rebel News every year or so has a fundraising cruise.
00:00:28.880It's a seminar cruise. It's a regular cruise, but we have panel discussions and debates and events when the ship is at sea.
00:00:37.660And we all have dinner together at night. We rotate different tables.
00:00:41.040It's fun. It's a way to connect with our top, most enthusiastic supporters.
00:00:45.560And as I think you may know, it's a fundraiser for Rebel because we tack on a couple hundred bucks to everyone's regular cruise cost.
00:00:54.800And that's what helps keep Rebel News running year-round.
00:00:57.980So it looks fun. It is fun. But it's actually an important fundraising tool for Rebel News.
00:01:03.460As you know, we don't take government money. We never will. We never have.
00:01:08.180And so we have to come up with creative fundraising solutions like this.
00:01:11.460It's also a lot of fun. There's 147 people who are on the cruise with us this week, which shows you how popular it is.
00:01:18.940And I hope you consider coming in the future. It's not cheap. I won't mess around like it is thousands of dollars to come, but it's a great way to hang out with the most passionate rebels around.
00:01:29.340And if you're thinking of a cruise for vacation anyways, it's perfect because it allows you to subsidize Rebel News with your tourism.
00:01:37.100Anyways, that's explaining where I am and that boat picture in the background.
00:01:40.940I'm going to do my best to provide content, to do commentaries while the ship is at sea and record them in my stateroom and send it back to Toronto for our team at the headquarters to process.
00:01:53.640Hopefully the internet will be strong enough, but I just wanted to let you know what I'm up to.
00:01:57.100Along with me on the boat, there is Alexa Lavoie, there is Drea Humphrey, there is David Benzies, and Amy Hamm, the activist against transgender extremism who was fired from her job as a nurse because she made a billboard that says,
00:02:15.700I heart JK Rowling. It's sort of crazy. And our friend Tamara Leach is on the cruise too, so it's extremely exciting.
00:02:21.840But I want to talk about the news today. Yesterday, Doug Ford, the Premier of Ontario, went on a five-minute rant about crime.
00:02:31.120I want to show you the whole thing. It goes by pretty quickly. Here's Doug Ford talking about how mad he is about crime.
00:02:38.400And boy, if I find the person responsible for this, I'm going to give him a word or two. Here, take a look at Doug Ford.
00:02:44.220Okay, so first of all, Chief Nish, Chief Demku, all the chiefs, they're absolute champions. So they do a massive bust. 500 kilos of cocaine that these drug dealers want to poison our kids, poison our people, and 500 kilos. Just imagine that.
00:03:03.880And they work with the DEA down in the U.S., Drug Enforcement Agency. They work with the Border Patrol. They work with police agencies, back and forth.
00:03:12.060The OPP, Commissioner Creek, is amazing on the Joint Task Force. And guess what, guys? These weak-kneed judges, the biggest bust in appeals history, guess where they are?
00:03:24.820They're back out on the street again. Bail. Except one person. Do you believe that? They actually get released on the largest drug bust in appeals history.
00:03:37.300500 kilos of cocaine that could ultimately kill people. And judges slap on the wrist. Okay, little Johnny, you go out there and deal more drugs.
00:03:47.180Why don't you give them more drugs? It's crazy. The system is broken. I will be all over the Prime Minister and the federal government reform, have bail reform until these, you know, I don't even want to call them what I'm thinking right now.
00:04:03.060I better hold off. But these people that are terrorizing our neighborhoods and feeding drugs to our people, that's number one.
00:04:11.540They need to change the criminal code. They need to change bail reform. I will be all over him until this gets done.
00:04:18.920Stop the dilly-dallying around. Ten years we've seen. We're going to do it. We aren't going to do it.
00:04:24.360You know, Prime Minister gave me his word. He's going to change it. It has to be done.
00:04:29.360And then, bingo, you hear of another big bust yesterday. What is there, 15 of them?
00:04:34.200And by the way, I remember saying that the chief is a champ. Chief Nish is a champ. All our police are champions.
00:04:40.400Well, guess what? They get busted. These are the ones that are, you know, the whole tow truck group and the other guys that are going, trying to intimidate and extort people.
00:04:50.680So they call people up and say, you know, pay up or we're going to shoot up your house.
00:04:55.200Guess what? They go by and start shooting up the house. But guess what, folks?
00:04:59.320Those nice, kind judges, they let them all out on bail. Oh, by the way, they're already out on bail or probation.
00:05:05.820What is the city coming to, not the city, but our country coming to, when these criminals are running amok and terrorizing our neighborhoods?
00:05:15.920It's disgusting. Something has to change.
00:08:11.560All I'm saying is that the judges who make the decisions on most bail cases in Ontario are at the provincial court level.
00:08:22.740And as the word provincial court suggests, they're appointed by Doug Ford.
00:08:28.900Doug Ford is ranting about, if I ever meet the guy who puts in these weak judges, yeah, you've been doing it for seven years, Doug.
00:08:38.660So he's lying when he says it's a federal thing or a Trudeau thing or a Mark Carney thing.
00:08:44.580But even if he weren't, even if it was Mark Carney, and Mark Carney and Justin Trudeau before him, of course, have a lot of culpability here because they're in charge of the criminal code itself.
00:08:55.840But Doug Ford campaigned mightily for Mark Carney again and again and again, sabotaging Pierre Polyev, championing Mark Carney.
