Rebel News Podcast - EZRA LEVANT ｜ Foreign-funded eco-activists tell us to expect pipeline bombings. Is that a threat？

00:00:00.000 Hello, my Rebels. Today I ask why Extinction Rebellion is not on the Canadian terrorist watch list, but the Proud Boys are.

00:00:11.840 One of them is threatening to blow up pipelines. The other, I don't know, has cheeky tattoos and hazing rituals.

00:00:19.380 Which one should be on the terrorist list? We'll get to that in a moment, but before we do, let me invite you to become a subscriber to Rebel News Plus.

00:00:25.140 Just go to rebelnewsplus.com and click subscribe. It's the video version of this podcast.

00:00:32.580 I do one every day. Sheila Gunn-Reed, David Menzies, and Andrew Chapados do one a week.

00:00:37.960 And the eight bucks a month, it might not be a ton of dough to you, but it adds up for us.

00:00:42.660 And it's the way we can avoid taking any government handouts because we've got you on our side.

00:00:47.920 So we don't need Trudeau on our side like the rest of the media.

00:00:50.600 Anyways, go to rebelnewsplus.com. Here's today's podcast.

00:00:55.140 Tonight, foreign-funded eco-activists tell us to expect pipeline bombings.

00:01:16.920 Is that a threat?

00:01:17.740 It's November 24th, and this is The Ezra Levant Show.

00:01:20.780 Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?

00:01:26.860 There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.

00:01:30.960 The only thing I have to say to the government, the wire publisher, is because it's my bloody right to do so.

00:01:36.800 I don't know if you remember, but in 2016 and 2017, we had a wild man here at Rebel News called Gavin McInnes, and he made videos for us on YouTube.

00:01:53.220 He was a creative genius.

00:01:54.660 He was a founder of Vice magazine.

00:01:56.860 He invented the concept and the style of hipsters.

00:02:01.540 That's two billion-dollar ideas right there.

00:02:04.400 And he had a third idea I'll mention later.

00:02:07.180 Anyways, Gavin had a unique skill on the right that is more common on the left.

00:02:12.000 He blended entertainment with political ideas in a way that was funny and cool, not eat-your-spinach-type preaching.

00:02:19.280 He was cool in a genuine way.

00:02:22.820 He had tattoos, too many of them, some awful ones, but not as generic and corporate as Trudeau's Thunderbird tattoo that's as fake as Trudeau's feminism.

00:02:35.420 Gavin knew music in a real way.

00:02:37.680 He knew fashion, and my God, was he funny.

00:02:41.140 My favorite work by him was when he pretended to be his brother, Miles.

00:02:45.300 My point is, he was like any number of left-wing comedian politicians, like Jon Stewart, formerly of The Daily Show.

00:03:12.660 Jon Stewart would say outrageous things, and if he ever got into trouble, he'd put on a clown nose and say, just joking.

00:03:19.620 He was often funny, to be sure.

00:03:21.780 Gavin was a bit closer to Howard Stern in terms of profanity and crudeness, but Gavin was hugely popular before YouTube censorship really kicked in.

00:03:32.420 I mentioned that Gavin had three billion-dollar ideas so far, whereas most people have zero billion-dollar ideas in their lives.

00:03:39.900 And his third idea, a fraternity for grown-ups called the Proud Boys.

00:03:48.440 I'll be honest, I never quite understood it or its symbols or slogans, but boy, did other people love it.

00:03:56.340 The West is the best, by which they meant Western art, culture, technology, law.

00:04:03.380 They called themselves Western chauvinists.

00:04:05.780 Gavin would talk about how the West was superior to other cultures, right on down to the cheeseburger, which he pointed out could be eaten with one hand while you drive your car with the other hand.

00:04:17.200 Funny, but also political and also a little bit true.

00:04:20.700 I traveled a bit with Gavin, and I was constantly startled by how many people recognized him on the street for his rebel work and also for his Proud Boys.

00:04:29.620 I was in Israel, I was in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem with him, and hundreds of people came to see him because of that.

00:04:38.280 I didn't get the goofier stuff like the Disney song thing.

00:04:41.660 I just didn't get it.

00:04:42.900 We're called Proud Boys because I went to one of my kids' music recitals, and some ponts got up there,

00:04:49.020 and while everyone's playing the piano and the violin and doing stuff they tried,

00:04:51.940 he gets up and he goes,

00:04:53.700 Proud of your boy, I'll make you proud of your boy.

00:04:59.600 It's some song from Aladdin.

00:05:02.640 And I was looking around for the dad because I thought there's no way this dad is proud of his boy.

00:05:06.840 And of course, he was a child of a single mom.

00:05:12.000 Duh.

00:05:13.060 I didn't get it.

00:05:14.040 And some of it seemed a bit too college freshman-ish to me, like the hazing rituals to join.

00:05:20.100 Three, two, one.

00:05:23.420 Great Duts.

00:05:24.300 One.

00:05:24.900 Cheerios.

00:05:25.560 Two.

00:05:25.920 Frosted Flakes.

00:05:26.680 Three.

00:05:27.180 Cocoa Pops.

00:05:27.820 Four.

00:05:30.440 But maybe I wasn't enough of a guy's guy in college.

00:05:33.940 I was too much of a debate club nerd, I guess.

00:05:36.960 Anyways, I never joined Proud Boys, in part because there was actually never anything to join.

00:05:42.600 It wasn't a club with membership rules.

00:05:45.020 It wasn't a franchise.

00:05:46.540 There really wasn't any governance, like Gavin's other invention, hipsterism.

00:05:51.940 It was just an idea he put out into the world.

00:05:55.200 He was its guru, its prophet, but not its owner.

00:06:00.240 I think it could have been something really big.

00:06:02.640 Like when I joined Boy Scouts 30 years ago, they had a book that you had to buy that every

00:06:08.800 scout had that laid out the whole philosophy of scouting and all the rules of a scout pack.

00:06:15.380 And that was a source of money for the scouts, and they had an organization.

00:06:19.940 It was a non-profit, but it was still a huge company nonetheless.

00:06:22.760 I remember suggesting to Gavin that he should write the Proud Boys Bible, so to speak,

00:06:28.580 where he would put in writing what Proud Boys is and what it isn't, since he didn't do so,

00:06:33.980 others would fill the void.

00:06:35.480 And they were starting to do that already.

00:06:37.260 And to franchise the thing, not only to commercialize it, but to have the power to ban bad actors from the group.

00:06:44.520 In the same way, Boy Scouts could kick out a scoutmaster, because Boy Scouts is a thing.

00:06:49.940 It's a corporate entity, not just a movement or a feeling or a slogan.

00:06:54.700 I'm not pretending I'm smart.

00:06:56.280 I never really had a lot to do with Proud Boys, but I could see a thirst amongst young men of the West

00:07:04.260 to embrace Western masculine values.

00:07:08.340 It's the same wave that has carried Dr. Jordan Peterson so far, frankly.

00:07:12.520 Rediscovering and defending and promoting masculine Western values and virtues.

00:07:18.820 That's what Gavin McInnes was doing in a more lowbrow, humorous way, instinctively.

00:07:24.480 Gavin identified a void through instinct.

00:07:27.380 Peterson did it more intellectually.

00:07:30.060 Gavin McInnes left our company in the fall of 2017 when a U.S. media company offered him,

00:07:34.620 I don't know, something like triple the rate of pay we were paying him.

00:07:38.340 And even if we could match it, which we probably couldn't, who wouldn't prefer to work for a U.S. billionaire

00:07:44.520 rather than a Canadian startup?

00:07:48.020 In the end, it wasn't the money, though.

00:07:50.560 It was his new boss didn't know how controversial Gavin was, and I don't think he could abide it.

00:07:56.860 So, now Gavin has started his own company called Censored.tv,

00:08:03.120 and he's put together a portfolio of other censored commentators,

00:08:07.840 including several Rebel News alumni like Katie Hopkins and Laura Loomer,

00:08:11.960 and other controversial figures like Milo Yiannopoulos and Jacob Wall.

00:08:15.400 Obviously, none of that would survive for a minute on YouTube,

00:08:20.340 so it's a paywall subscription show.

00:08:22.500 He really has pulled together all of the banned people in one place.

00:08:27.380 It's only possible to do that in America.

00:08:29.540 Such a project would be banned in Canada in a minute, immediately,

00:08:33.380 and I'm not even joking.

00:08:35.040 It would be deplatformed in ways we haven't even yet contemplated.

00:08:37.860 I saw this by chance.

00:08:42.500 I came across this document on the news site, The Intercept.

00:08:45.940 This is a leaked list of all the, quote,

00:08:49.520 dangerous people in the world who are permanently banned from Facebook.

00:08:54.300 There's a huge, long list of terrorists on it,

00:08:57.780 and Gavin McInnes is on it, too.

00:09:00.020 Oh, and the Proud Boys, too.

00:09:01.360 I don't know what terrorism Gavin has done.

00:09:04.440 He's made a lot of crude jokes.

00:09:06.060 I'll give him that.

00:09:07.280 When he was with me in Israel,

00:09:09.200 it was pretty clear which side of things he was on about terrorism.

00:09:12.560 He thought Israel needed to be tougher, more anti-terrorist,

00:09:16.420 and less supine than it was.

00:09:18.660 Israel should enjoy their wall and be proud of it because it works,

00:09:22.360 and America should build their wall and be proud of it because it will work.

00:09:27.020 Capitulation doesn't work.

00:09:28.600 It's time for some unapologetic arrogance.

00:09:32.120 Now, I'm not here to defend Gavin McInnes.

00:09:34.260 He left our company more than four years ago.

00:09:36.080 Well, I'm not here to defend the Proud Boys.

00:09:39.040 The Proud Boys got into a street scuffle with Antifa in New York City a few years back,

00:09:43.960 and one of its members was prosecuted by the hard left-wing prosecutors in that city.

00:09:50.060 New York and a dozen other Democrat cities were looted and rioted and burnt by Black Lives Matter and Antifa, 1.00

00:09:56.960 while police and prosecutors stood down.

00:10:00.420 But a right-wing lad punches an Antifa thug, and off to prison he goes.

00:10:04.280 Now, I'm not for violence other than self-defense.

00:10:07.240 I don't know enough about the Proud Boys guy who got into trouble for that fisticuff,

00:10:11.660 but I think we've all seen in recent weeks in America just how political policing and prosecuting is,

00:10:18.880 I think, of the Kyle Rittenhouse case.

00:10:20.520 But like I say, Proud Boys is really a fraternity for young men who didn't go to college.

00:10:25.820 That's how I would describe it.

00:10:28.860 And here's my point.

00:10:29.920 Here in Canada, Proud Boys never really got going into anything much.

00:10:34.920 Maybe some guys meeting up in bars, maybe getting some tattoos.

00:10:39.440 The only thing I have ever heard of that Proud Boys actually did in Canada,

00:10:45.360 the only thing, and I've had my eye on it,

00:10:47.800 is that a few years ago, when some anti-Canada protesters were protesting in Halifax,

00:10:55.760 some radical activists wanted to tear down a statue of Halifax's founder, Edward Cornwallis.

00:11:04.360 So these left-wing activists claimed they were indigenous.

00:11:09.000 But five Proud Boys members came to counter them.

00:11:13.900 And by the way, two of the Proud Boys were aboriginal themselves.

00:11:19.500 I want to show you what the actual altercation looked like.

00:11:22.600 I don't even think it could be called an altercation.

00:11:25.060 Some left-wing protesters and then five Proud Boys who happened to be in the Canadian Navy.

00:11:32.520 Two of the five were aboriginal. 0.85

00:11:34.300 Another one of them is gay, if you're interested in counting that way. 0.99

00:11:38.900 And I mention that because if you're trying to play a hand of politically correct poker 0.99

00:11:43.140 by telling me that this was some white supremacist right-wing thing,

00:11:47.540 I'm here to tell you that's a lie.

00:11:49.600 But watch the altercation for yourself.

00:11:51.480 On the one hand, five clean-cut Canadian Navy lads, peacefully, calmly, being pro-Canada,

00:12:00.540 and then a bunch of ruffians wanting to tear down a statue. 0.97

00:12:04.320 Watch for yourself.

00:12:04.800 So why is she allowed the Mi'kmaq flag that I'm not allowed by?

00:12:09.400 You're not allowed.

00:12:10.400 This is the flag of genocide.

00:12:12.160 The flag of genocide.

00:12:13.060 Yes.

00:12:13.400 This was...

00:12:13.860 So this is a country of genocide?

00:12:15.260 Yes, it is.

00:12:15.440 We're living in a country of genocide?

00:12:17.040 Yes.

00:12:17.760 Okay, so you guys are...

00:12:18.980 Even though all of that was done with the Union Jack,

00:12:22.220 this is the Confederate flag of Canada.

00:12:24.140 This is Mi'kmaq territory. 0.95

00:12:27.160 This is not Canada.

00:12:28.380 This is Canada.

00:12:29.320 You're confused.

00:12:30.120 It might have been Mi'kmaq territory. 0.99

00:12:31.280 So you don't have Canadian ID?

00:12:32.840 You don't pay your taxes?

00:12:34.740 You don't have a Medicare card?

00:12:36.040 This is not an argument.

00:12:37.280 Well, it is.

00:12:37.800 You need to have respect and walk around.

00:12:38.660 You need to have respect.

00:12:40.200 Yes.

00:12:40.400 Please respect.

00:12:41.280 Please call us.

00:12:41.940 I feel like we're being respectful,

00:12:43.180 but you're telling us our country doesn't exist.

00:12:44.740 It would be great if you left.

00:12:45.860 Please.

00:12:46.200 It would be great if you left.

00:12:46.920 You can stay and observe the ceremony,

00:12:51.420 but you can't have what colonial things are.

00:12:54.760 Or you can even...

00:12:55.880 I don't like...

00:12:59.280 And the founding of everything you see

00:13:00.760 and the house that you live in.

00:13:01.620 I don't need to.

00:13:02.220 Yeah, I don't like to.

00:13:02.980 I don't like to.

00:13:03.840 Why don't you give all that you own back?

00:13:07.580 Give your sweater, give your pants, 1.00

00:13:08.680 give your shoes, give your house, 1.00

00:13:09.780 give it all back.

00:13:10.320 Somewhere between very little and nothing.

00:13:12.760 If it's still not yours,

00:13:13.860 if this is still Mi'kmaq land,

00:13:15.120 then everything, not everybody here

00:13:16.380 should be handing over to them.

00:13:18.220 I know Native people.

00:13:19.940 I know no roots.

00:13:21.420 This is the only home I know.

00:13:23.960 I'm sure my ancestors are probably European,

00:13:26.400 but it's only really Guest World.

00:13:28.240 Okay.

00:13:29.000 I don't know that I'm not proud of them.

00:13:30.780 I'm part of anything for all I know. 0.99

00:13:32.100 Show some pride to get the fuck out of here. 0.97

00:13:33.720 Well, I'll say, well, we're all Canadian. 0.98

00:13:35.600 None of us was here whenever this happened.

00:13:37.840 We're all descendants of these people.

00:13:39.980 Yes, it's our history.

00:13:41.460 And it's the knowledge.

00:13:42.800 Absolutely.

00:13:43.560 I'm going to turn my back again.

00:13:44.780 I'm going to turn my back again.

00:13:46.860 We'll talk to people who want to talk.

00:13:48.800 I'm going to talk to people who want to talk.

00:13:50.940 Yeah.

00:13:51.360 We know.

00:13:51.820 We'll go with this.

00:13:55.200 We're a reasonable person.

00:13:56.440 Great, great.

00:13:57.500 Fine.

00:13:59.240 Let's all march together.

00:14:00.620 So there was a huge media kerfuffle.

00:14:04.680 In the media, at least.

00:14:06.320 I don't know anyone else who actually cared,

00:14:08.620 and if they did,

00:14:09.120 they sided with the five lads.

00:14:10.240 But, of course,

00:14:11.360 there were no charges brought against them,

00:14:13.360 and they committed no crime.

00:14:15.840 Now, Trudeau's navy is as politically correct as you can imagine,

00:14:19.340 so they obviously abused and punished and threatened and defamed the five men.

00:14:24.200 But the video I just showed you was the sum totality.

00:14:26.520 In all of Canada, of any Proud Boys public activity at all, full stop, that's it.

00:14:31.960 Pretty mild. No swearing, let alone punching or terrorism.

00:14:36.040 Five guys saying, don't tear down a statue.

00:14:38.260 And I tell you all this because, as you already know,

00:14:41.340 Justin Trudeau put the Proud Boys on the official list of terrorist groups in Canada,

00:14:48.600 along with Al-Qaeda and ISIS.

00:14:50.880 So it's not just Facebook's dangerous list.

00:14:54.180 It's on a real list of terrorists, according to the Canadian government.

00:14:59.060 Now, I'm not sure how that's done, given that the Proud Boys are an unincorporated identity.

00:15:05.760 It would be like putting another one of Gavin's invention's hipsters on the list. 0.99

00:15:10.360 Hipsters are a thing, I guess, but it's not really a list.

00:15:13.840 With a membership, what would it mean, having the wrong tattoo or the wrong outfit?

00:15:18.680 I mean, I guess the Proud Boys would wear a certain kind of golf shirt.

00:15:21.380 Is that a terrorist act?

00:15:22.900 So Gavin McInnes, the Howard Stern of political commentary,

00:15:27.220 has a blue-collar fraternity,

00:15:29.380 and it is declared a terrorist group in Canada

00:15:32.220 for doing what I showed you above, I guess.

00:15:35.460 I don't know.

00:15:36.720 That's it.

00:15:37.360 I don't know if there's anything more.

00:15:39.760 I promise you, it really could have been a club, a franchise.

00:15:44.420 I don't know.

00:15:45.900 But that'll get you in prison now. 0.93

00:15:48.020 You're a Proud Boy.

00:15:49.640 I guess.

00:15:50.460 I mean, if you support it.

00:15:51.240 I don't know if any returning ISIS fighters coming back from Iraq or Syria to Canada,

00:15:55.920 I don't know if any of them have actually been thrown in prison in Canada,

00:15:58.700 but I'm pretty sure anyone who supported Proud Boys would be prosecuted by Trudeau in a heartbeat.

00:16:06.240 But what is this?

00:16:07.400 Look at this.

00:16:08.000 What is this?

00:16:09.260 This is David Suzuki.

00:16:11.360 We're in deep, deep doo-doo,

00:16:13.560 and they've been telling us, the leading experts, for over 40 years.

00:16:17.800 This is what we've come to.

00:16:20.020 The next stage after this is there are going to be pipelines blowing up.

00:16:24.860 Is that a threat?

00:16:27.120 Or is that a promise?

00:16:28.280 Or is that a prediction?

00:16:29.180 Bombing pipelines?

00:16:31.120 And that's the CBC's star, the state broadcaster.

00:16:36.040 That's David Suzuki, the head of the David Suzuki Foundation, a registered CRA charity.

00:16:42.300 And he's out there talking up bombing pipelines?

00:16:47.680 Why, yes.

00:16:49.660 You know, he's been out of it a while, actually.
