Rebel News Podcast - EZRA LEVANT： If a Pastor is arrested and the media doesn't cover it, did it even happen？

00:00:00.120 Hello, my friends, another Christian pastor thrown in jail. What is happening to Canada?

00:00:04.860 And why do so few other Canadian media care? I'll take you through the case of Pastor Derek Reimer.

00:00:10.460 And we'll tell you the latest from downtown Calgary and Pastor Arthur Pavlovsky, who makes an appearance in this story.

00:00:19.220 But first, let me invite you to become a subscriber to Rebel News Plus. It's the video version of this podcast.

00:00:24.180 Today, especially, it's a feast for the eyes. Some crazy things I'm going to show you.

00:00:28.080 Go to rebelnewsplus.com. Click subscribe. Eight bucks a month.

00:00:32.920 We rely on that money, too, by the way, because we don't get any grants from Trudeau.

00:00:36.080 We refuse to take them, and he would probably refuse to give them.

00:00:39.900 We rely on you. Please go to rebelnewsplus.com.

00:00:43.860 All right, here's today's podcast.

00:00:58.080 Tonight, if a Christian pastor is arrested and the media doesn't cover it, did it even happen?

00:01:05.640 It's March 3rd, and this is the Ezra LeVant Show. 0.85

00:01:09.080 Shame on you, you censorious bug.

00:01:14.080 Where is Calgary pastor Derek Reimer?

00:01:26.780 You'll remember him from feeding the hungry and the homeless on the streets of Calgary in 2020.

00:01:33.360 Remember, Arthur Pavlovsky was given massive tickets for doing that.

00:01:38.220 He was out in the cold. It was actually snowing that day, and Arthur and his church were giving food to hungry people,

00:01:44.300 and the cops came up pushing him around like bullies, and they gave him a ticket for an illegal gathering,

00:01:49.960 as if feeding the hungry was a gathering like a party or something.

00:01:54.960 As you know, that became case number one in our Fight the Fines project that's gone on to representing more than 2,000 people.

00:02:02.600 Well, case number two was almost an identical case involving another Calgary pastor charged with doing the exact same thing,

00:02:11.860 feeding the hungry and the homeless.

00:02:13.980 Here's a clip of Pastor Derek Reimer from back in those days.

00:02:19.180 Derek, thanks so much for joining me today.

00:02:21.480 I really am interested to hear about your story when you were given a ticket by the Calgary police.

00:02:27.220 It's a very similar story to what we've heard from a similar church in Calgary.

00:02:32.340 We spoke with a gentleman named Arthur, and we're kind of curious,

00:02:36.400 does it seem like the Calgary police are specifically following and charging Christian outreach groups in downtown Calgary?

00:02:43.700 Yeah, you know, it definitely appears that way, and even possibly attacking Art and his church as well,

00:02:51.780 because we saw some differences because we were down at the DI,

00:02:54.740 and the same officer who ticketed Art came, but then it didn't bother him what we were doing.

00:03:00.720 He said, you know, as long as a group doesn't get too big and you can preach and you can feed the homeless,

00:03:04.580 that doesn't bother me, and we have that all captured on film and left with that.

00:03:09.340 So we go out there and we feed the homeless, and we preach the gospel, and we pray for the sick.

00:03:13.620 And it wasn't very even busy on the streets because it's very desolate in Calgary.

00:03:20.020 But yeah, there were a bunch of us out there, and cops came, and a couple weeks ago they were warning me,

00:03:25.480 and we were back out there, we just keep doing it.

00:03:27.380 Cops came right at the beginning, and they were watching, and so they hung out for the next hour, hour and a half.

00:03:32.900 And then, yeah, take it at us.

00:03:34.800 Be that as it may, we'll be out there this weekend on the corner of Stephen Avenue and 2nd Street

00:03:39.320 and doing what we're called to do.

00:03:40.900 How much food did the Calgary police take out of the mouths of homeless people

00:03:45.100 because they decided they should be ticketing you for doing such a good thing?

00:03:49.100 I'm not going to have the money to spend on outreach supplies.

00:03:51.560 I'm not going to have the money to spend on any kind of resources

00:03:54.540 because now it's spent on tickets if it doesn't get thrown out.

00:03:58.880 Well, I guess the city hates him for daring to stand up to them,

00:04:03.860 and I don't know what they'd have, some weird vendetta.

00:04:07.280 But Pastor Derek Reimer was in the news again.

00:04:10.760 He heard about the Drag Queen Story Hour in a Calgary public library

00:04:15.580 that was targeting children of tender years.

00:04:18.360 That's my main beef with these Drag Queen events. 1.00

00:04:21.280 If some grown-ups want to live that way in a club or even on the streets

00:04:26.740 and be who they feel they are inside, I think I'm libertarian enough to roll with them.

00:04:32.620 But when you are targeting children of a young age,

00:04:37.460 there should be a non-sexual, an asexual time in a child's life.

00:04:43.140 Just let them be kids.

00:04:45.020 It's not the gayness. 0.99

00:04:46.700 It's the sexualization of children, gay or straight. 0.99

00:04:49.460 That's why we don't bring children into straight strip clubs. 1.00

00:04:54.000 Don't sexualize kids. 1.00

00:04:55.660 This is really gross.

00:04:57.460 And I can understand why someone who is as motivated by Christian morality 0.69

00:05:01.240 as a Christian pastor would be opposed to it.

00:05:03.240 So anyways, Pastor Derek Reimer went to this Drag Queen Story Hour,

00:05:10.160 and he stuck his nose into it,

00:05:16.320 and he preached against it,

00:05:18.920 and he interrupted it.

00:05:20.620 He was not physical.

00:05:22.080 He didn't attack anyone,

00:05:23.480 but he spoke against it,

00:05:25.960 and they got physical with him.

00:05:27.360 Here, take a look at this video.

00:05:28.420 We are now calling the police.

00:05:34.540 Stop.

00:05:35.020 Stop.

00:05:37.540 We have the police coming,

00:05:39.660 so it is your choice to leave or deal with the police.

00:05:43.340 It's very abusive in there.

00:05:44.760 We are going to...

00:05:45.720 For love is love.

00:05:46.860 That was like very hateful, very abusive.

00:05:49.420 Why are you disruptive? 0.80

00:05:50.340 Because it's wicked.

00:05:53.560 So you can see a crime was committed,

00:06:11.960 not by Pastor Derek Reimer,

00:06:13.880 but by those three men who grabbed him

00:06:17.040 and threw him out of there.

00:06:18.880 Now, by the way,

00:06:19.380 I know enough about the law of trespass

00:06:20.940 that if someone is on your property,

00:06:22.680 you have the right to use reasonable force

00:06:24.820 to eject them.

00:06:26.820 But this is public property,

00:06:28.540 namely a public library.

00:06:29.900 I'm not quite sure of the law

00:06:31.920 if you have a private space

00:06:33.760 rented at a public library if it applies,

00:06:35.940 but I'm pretty sure three big guys

00:06:38.180 picking up a man

00:06:39.100 and throwing him on the ground like that

00:06:41.340 is something that should warrant

00:06:42.920 at least police investigation,

00:06:44.220 if not prosecution.

00:06:45.620 But alas,

00:06:46.480 no one was prosecuted by that whatsoever.

00:06:48.920 And that absolutely enraged

00:06:53.580 Calgary's hard left-wing mayor,

00:06:56.760 Jody Gondek.

00:06:57.440 For those who don't know Jody Gondek,

00:06:59.480 I think all you need to know about her

00:07:01.260 is that the very first thing she did

00:07:04.160 after becoming mayor in Calgary,

00:07:06.240 the oil and gas capital of Canada,

00:07:08.520 although Edmonton would say they are,

00:07:10.320 the very first thing Jody Gondek did,

00:07:12.260 what was the first thing?

00:07:13.220 Would it be the unemployment crisis

00:07:16.020 that has wracked that province

00:07:17.300 really for eight years?

00:07:18.300 Would it be the carbon tax?

00:07:20.440 Would it be rising crime?

00:07:22.340 What would the number one issue be

00:07:24.380 for a mayor of Calgary?

00:07:25.460 Well, she declared a climate crisis.

00:07:29.260 I'm not even kidding.

00:07:30.340 Gives you an idea of how woke she is.

00:07:31.840 Anyway, that is Jody Gondek.

00:07:35.080 And she has gone full authoritarian.

00:07:37.900 Here's a clip of her a few weeks ago

00:07:39.780 in City Hall

00:07:41.720 when she was calling for a special bylaw

00:07:45.600 targeting her political enemies.

00:07:48.000 Understand that the criminal code

00:07:49.720 applies all across the country.

00:07:51.600 You don't need every city hall or town hall

00:07:53.680 to ban stalking or harassment or assault

00:07:57.220 or uttering a death threat

00:07:58.860 or any real crimes.

00:07:59.920 But Jody Gondek wants to ban things

00:08:02.440 that are not crimes.

00:08:03.720 She wants to ban her political enemies 0.76

00:08:05.600 from lying.

00:08:06.980 Of course, lying can quite often

00:08:08.800 be a matter of opinion in politics.

00:08:10.880 Each side thinks the other is lying

00:08:12.480 and it's up to the voter to figure it out.

00:08:14.320 But Jody Gondek says that the people who lie

00:08:16.820 that she doesn't like are very special

00:08:19.000 and that they're motivated by hatred,

00:08:20.960 unlike her motivations,

00:08:22.340 which are purely love.

00:08:24.080 This is to her speech in City Council

00:08:26.800 when she calls for a special censorship bylaw

00:08:29.680 to fine people hundreds of dollars

00:08:32.140 for saying things that are offensive.

00:08:35.200 And of course, everyone can define

00:08:37.360 that word for themselves, right?

00:08:38.800 Here, listen to her speech

00:08:39.640 when she brought in the bylaw.

00:08:41.400 We had a drag brunch at the rec room

00:08:44.780 in the north of Calgary

00:08:45.960 by our community of drag queens in Calgary

00:08:49.900 who have done amazing work

00:08:52.280 promoting inclusion

00:08:53.520 and really raising awareness

00:08:55.340 of how important it is

00:08:56.460 to be a welcoming community.

00:08:58.280 Unfortunately, some members of our population

00:09:01.500 thought it would be a good idea

00:09:02.520 to protest this event,

00:09:03.600 which is, I'm just going to use my opinion,

00:09:06.640 a horrible thing to do.

00:09:08.100 I was very happy that CPS was there

00:09:10.120 to provide a buffer

00:09:11.200 and to ensure that everyone was safe

00:09:13.760 and that the show could go on.

00:09:15.400 My question is,

00:09:16.720 do we have the ability

00:09:17.920 when a protest is rooted in hatred

00:09:20.620 to ticket people and shut this down?

00:09:23.900 How does it work?

00:09:24.660 Mayor Gondek, I will seek to answer that question.

00:09:34.180 I am responsible, of course,

00:09:36.220 as the general manager for community services

00:09:38.460 for our bylaw work.

00:09:40.160 And so it would be a bylaw

00:09:41.520 that we would be pursuing that way.

00:09:44.780 I imagine that there's some complexity

00:09:47.460 to defining what we anticipate

00:09:49.800 to have happen at protests.

00:09:53.140 And so I don't feel like I have

00:09:54.480 the crisp answer that I would like to.

00:09:56.820 Right now, I'm happy to look into that.

00:09:59.000 And I will send a note to all members of council

00:10:01.260 when we have a good, clear answer

00:10:03.660 to your question.

00:10:05.320 Thank you, GM Black.

00:10:06.400 I appreciate that.

00:10:07.220 I didn't expect you to have an answer immediately,

00:10:08.960 but I do appreciate that you will look into it.

00:10:11.440 We cannot have this kind of intolerance

00:10:13.220 and hatred in our city.

00:10:14.380 So thank you for pursuing it.

00:10:15.660 Yeah, that's just crazy.

00:10:19.600 And so police obviously saw that bylaw

00:10:22.200 and they saw that temper tantrum that she had 1.00

00:10:27.860 demanding that they arrest people who oppose her.

00:10:34.380 But the police, at least some of them,

00:10:36.140 still believe in their oath enough

00:10:37.960 that they don't just simply run

00:10:39.680 personal political errands for politicians.

00:10:42.220 Evidently, she contacted the police

00:10:46.180 and prosecutors directly

00:10:47.480 and demanded that they arrest Derek Reimer.

00:10:50.900 And the reason I say evidently

00:10:52.540 is because they obviously refused to do so

00:10:55.760 for several days,

00:10:56.960 which exasperated Jodi Gondek,

00:11:00.280 who then had a temper tantrum again

00:11:03.320 on Twitter,

00:11:05.540 where she referred to the police

00:11:07.540 and the prosecutors rebuffing her 1.00

00:11:09.060 and said she did not accept it

00:11:11.280 and rather that she demanded,

00:11:13.920 she insisted that they arrest Derek Reimer

00:11:16.760 despite their objections.

00:11:17.960 Now, I talked about this

00:11:19.100 in a live stream earlier today.

00:11:20.940 And I just want to play you,

00:11:22.780 me going through,

00:11:24.180 a videotape from earlier today

00:11:25.360 of me going through Jodi Gondek's tweets.

00:11:28.280 This is a little snippet from my live stream.

00:11:29.900 I don't know if you know this,

00:11:30.660 but from time to time

00:11:32.060 at 1 p.m. Eastern,

00:11:34.020 which is 11 a.m. Mountain Time,

00:11:35.440 I do a live stream,

00:11:36.280 not every day,

00:11:37.040 but I typically go for about an hour or so.

00:11:40.220 Things that are on my mind,

00:11:41.260 I read tweets,

00:11:42.540 I take super chats.

00:11:44.300 That's a real-time comment from people.

00:11:45.720 I get a real kick out of it.

00:11:46.880 So I talked about this today

00:11:47.920 and I want to show you

00:11:48.880 going through Jodi Gondek's

00:11:51.220 temper tantrum tweets.

00:11:52.700 Take a look at this.

00:11:53.460 I'll be unpacking all the reasons,

00:11:56.600 in quotes,

00:11:57.420 why enforcement teams and the Crown

00:11:59.300 feel the street harassment bylaw

00:12:00.920 and other existing bylaws legislation

00:12:02.960 are not strong enough

00:12:05.160 to charge demonstrators

00:12:06.560 who spread vile lies

00:12:08.800 and hatred in public.

00:12:10.320 And then I'll be pushing for more.

00:12:12.140 No more excuses.

00:12:13.040 So just stop right there.

00:12:14.980 That is the most insane tweet

00:12:16.580 I have seen

00:12:17.480 by any elected official

00:12:19.580 in a long time.

00:12:21.540 And if you could show that one again for me,

00:12:23.700 because I want to zoom in on that,

00:12:25.380 there are so many crazy things there.

00:12:27.600 So she puts reasons

00:12:29.060 in scare quotes,

00:12:30.920 because she obviously does not believe

00:12:35.340 her own prosecutors or police.

00:12:38.440 I'll be unpacking all the so-called reasons

00:12:41.020 why enforcement teams in the Crown

00:12:43.260 feel the street harassment bylaw

00:12:44.520 and other existing bylaws

00:12:45.320 are not strong enough.

00:12:46.320 So the police and the prosecutors

00:12:48.600 are saying to her,

00:12:49.660 we can't arrest people

00:12:51.240 just because you don't like them.

00:12:53.800 And she is,

00:12:55.100 isn't this what Danielle Smith

00:12:56.320 got in trouble for not doing?

00:12:57.840 That Danielle Smith has not actually

00:13:00.180 stayed the prosecutions of anyone

00:13:02.580 in Alberta that I know of.

00:13:08.340 But here's the mayor saying,

00:13:10.520 basically saying,

00:13:12.100 I asked the police

00:13:14.480 to arrest these people.

00:13:16.500 They wouldn't.

00:13:17.940 I asked the Crown prosecutors

00:13:20.120 to charge them.

00:13:21.780 They wouldn't.

00:13:23.080 For their so-called reasons.

00:13:25.480 And I'll be showing

00:13:27.860 while I'll be pushing for some more.

00:13:29.480 Hang on a second.

00:13:30.320 Where is the CBC gnashing their teeth

00:13:32.620 at interference with prosecutors?

00:13:36.580 Why was Danielle Smith's 0.99

00:13:38.100 non-interference such a subject,

00:13:40.300 but not Jodi Gondek's interference,

00:13:42.940 asking me to be patient

00:13:45.040 and saying,

00:13:45.820 we got this.

00:13:47.020 Didn't work.

00:13:48.620 So she's again talking

00:13:49.940 about the police here.

00:13:51.020 She's dressing down the police 1.00

00:13:54.780 on Twitter.

00:13:55.880 She's saying,

00:13:56.480 asking me to be patient,

00:13:57.760 saying we got this.

00:13:58.460 Didn't work.

00:13:59.240 We have performers

00:14:00.400 being targeted for weeks now.

00:14:04.140 Vitriol

00:14:04.660 in front of children

00:14:06.060 at the library.

00:14:07.000 So she's not worried about

00:14:09.000 sexualized men

00:14:12.140 dressed in drag 0.95

00:14:13.560 in front of children.

00:14:14.800 She's worried about

00:14:16.180 pastors criticizing.

00:14:17.760 That's the vitriol

00:14:18.600 she's talking about.

00:14:19.300 These are not peaceful protests.

00:14:22.180 Well, in that,

00:14:22.680 I agree with her

00:14:23.320 because we saw

00:14:23.900 Pastor Derek Reimer

00:14:24.840 get beat up.

00:14:26.420 This is hate.

00:14:28.200 Hate's a human emotion.

00:14:29.520 Hate is not

00:14:30.160 beating someone up.

00:14:31.860 Hate is in your heart.

00:14:33.460 And I think that Jodi Gondek

00:14:35.000 is full of hate, frankly.

00:14:36.420 But even if she is or isn't,

00:14:38.420 having the emotion

00:14:39.200 of hate in your heart

00:14:40.180 is no more a crime

00:14:41.640 than having the emotion

00:14:42.340 of love in your heart.

00:14:43.380 And it cannot be remedied

00:14:44.500 through the law.

00:14:45.480 You cannot prosecute someone

00:14:46.720 for a feelings offense.

00:14:47.900 Put tweet number two up again.

00:14:49.440 I just want to finish reading it.

00:14:52.280 The kind of hate

00:14:53.540 we rallied against

00:14:54.580 for so long.

00:14:55.720 It's back

00:14:56.580 and it's worse.

00:14:58.240 What are you talking about?

00:14:59.780 What are you even,

00:15:00.740 who is we

00:15:01.520 rallying against hate?

00:15:03.180 Hate is a human emotion

00:15:04.260 and I would say

00:15:05.260 that these tweets show

00:15:06.520 that Mayor Jodi Gondek

00:15:07.680 is dripping

00:15:09.000 with hate.

00:15:10.780 And by the way,

00:15:11.460 she calls her

00:15:12.260 peaceful opponents

00:15:13.780 violent

00:15:14.400 and claims

00:15:15.660 they're full of hate 0.98

00:15:16.640 and that they're liars. 1.00

00:15:18.200 They may be full of hate. 0.86

00:15:19.640 I don't know.

00:15:20.200 They would say

00:15:21.060 they're full of love

00:15:21.720 for the children.

00:15:23.040 I suppose if you love

00:15:24.060 a victim,

00:15:24.460 by definition,

00:15:25.140 you might hate

00:15:25.900 the perpetrator.

00:15:27.120 But these are just

00:15:28.760 insane reasons

00:15:29.820 that have nothing

00:15:30.340 to do with crimes.

00:15:32.280 Okay, we get it.

00:15:32.920 Jodi Gondek hates 0.97

00:15:33.900 these Christian protesters.

00:15:35.620 We get it.

00:15:36.420 We get it.

00:15:37.480 But that is not a crime.

00:15:39.360 And mocking the police

00:15:40.660 for saying

00:15:41.480 we got this

00:15:42.340 and the reasons

00:15:43.980 she's telling the police

00:15:46.140 she does not accept

00:15:47.140 what they're doing

00:15:47.980 and she's essentially

00:15:49.280 ordering them

00:15:50.080 to arrest

00:15:50.640 her political opponents.

00:15:52.320 Is this exactly

00:15:53.380 what they went after

00:15:54.760 Danielle Smith

00:15:55.360 for not doing actually?

00:15:57.780 Tweet number three.

00:16:00.620 Why is this worse?

00:16:02.580 Because we are pretending

00:16:03.720 we can't take action

00:16:04.880 against it.

00:16:05.860 She's talking about

00:16:06.640 people protesting

00:16:07.460 against Drag Queen Story Hour. 0.91

00:16:09.340 Consider those who marched

00:16:10.540 in real protests

00:16:11.460 and died

00:16:12.240 in the mission

00:16:13.140 for real freedom.

00:16:14.440 Freedom for people

00:16:15.140 to be who they are.

00:16:16.560 Did they fight for us

00:16:17.320 to now be complacent?

00:16:18.880 Action must be taken.

00:16:20.300 Hey, police.

00:16:21.740 Action must be taken.

00:16:23.480 I am sick

00:16:24.260 of asking you nicely.

00:16:26.020 I want you to arrest

00:16:27.140 my political opponents now.

00:16:29.720 Isn't that what we stormed

00:16:30.980 the Normandy beaches on

00:16:32.220 in Juneau

00:16:33.320 in June 6, 1944?

00:16:35.680 Didn't we take action

00:16:37.340 for freedom?

00:16:39.220 And by that,

00:16:39.740 I mean for grown men

00:16:41.340 to dress in sexually

00:16:42.760 provocative ways

00:16:43.840 and have children's

00:16:46.640 read-alongs.

00:16:47.260 Isn't that what

00:16:48.000 the D-Day invasion

00:16:49.180 was about?

00:16:49.720 We fought Hitler. 0.54

00:16:52.280 We invaded

00:16:53.060 to liberate

00:16:54.380 for this freedom.

00:16:57.160 Did they fight

00:16:57.780 and die for us

00:16:58.440 now to be complacent?

00:16:59.600 Action must be taken. 1.00

00:17:01.060 What an insane woman. 1.00

00:17:02.480 Who wrote this? 1.00

00:17:03.140 I bet she wrote it herself.

00:17:04.500 Next tweet.

00:17:04.960 I will be posting

00:17:07.980 more on what

00:17:09.100 I uncover

00:17:10.120 about the weakness

00:17:11.960 of our existing

00:17:13.280 bylaws and legislation.

00:17:16.160 I think it's best

00:17:17.400 that you're not

00:17:18.160 in terms of,

00:17:20.120 you know,

00:17:20.680 this is not going to

00:17:21.700 stand up in court.

00:17:23.060 This is insane.

00:17:25.700 I'll let you know

00:17:26.780 what we can all do

00:17:28.060 to demand better.

00:17:29.840 It starts with me.

00:17:31.180 I hold the greatest

00:17:32.080 responsibility for this city

00:17:33.480 to be a place of inclusion.

00:17:35.500 More to come.

00:17:36.760 Inclusion,

00:17:37.420 just not for Christians 1.00

00:17:38.620 or pastors

00:17:39.240 or those who

00:17:40.600 want to protect kids.

00:17:42.660 So Jodi Gondek

00:17:43.440 passed a bylaw

00:17:45.100 banning people

00:17:46.260 she doesn't like.

00:17:47.400 The police did not

00:17:48.300 enforce it.

00:17:49.400 So then she had

00:17:50.080 a Twitter temper tantrum

00:17:51.260 saying,

00:17:51.700 I insist

00:17:52.340 that you prosecute,

00:17:53.760 arrest and prosecute him

00:17:54.960 even though you say

00:17:55.940 you have reasons not to.

00:17:57.420 And you know what?

00:17:58.620 They actually did.

00:17:59.900 Here's a video

00:18:01.340 of a police officer

00:18:02.860 showing up at his home

00:18:04.140 saying he has a warrant

00:18:05.500 for Pastor Reimer's arrest.

00:18:07.980 Hello.

00:18:08.580 Derek?

00:18:09.080 Yeah, hi.

00:18:09.680 Derek, I'm Constable

00:18:10.280 Master of New CPS.

00:18:11.980 Can we talk about

00:18:12.820 what happened

00:18:13.080 the other weekend?

00:18:16.600 Why are you showing up

00:18:17.500 at my home?

00:18:20.460 Sorry, what's the

00:18:21.080 important one?

00:18:21.400 Why are you showing up

00:18:22.200 at my home?

00:18:23.400 Because this is where

00:18:24.040 you live, right?

00:18:25.820 Yeah, you guys

00:18:26.660 could call me

00:18:27.660 or we could.

00:18:28.900 Sorry, what's that?

00:18:29.320 You could have called me.

00:18:30.640 I've been trying to.

00:18:32.400 When?

00:18:33.000 This morning.

00:18:35.200 Yeah, what time is it?

00:18:36.060 Let's get out.

00:18:36.780 No, she's okay.

00:18:37.700 Okay.

00:18:38.660 We need to talk about

00:18:39.240 what happened

00:18:39.480 on the weekend

00:18:39.820 this evening, right?

00:18:41.900 Why do we need

00:18:42.600 to talk about it?

00:18:43.340 Because you're going

00:18:43.760 to be arrested for it

00:18:44.460 and charged.

00:18:46.460 Okay.

00:18:46.960 So we can go

00:18:47.880 deal with it this morning

00:18:48.620 or I can just

00:18:49.300 put warrants out for you.

00:18:51.860 Charged with what?

00:18:53.140 Mischief

00:18:53.540 and causing disturbance.

00:18:54.240 Okay, let me

00:18:59.460 let me get dressed.

00:19:00.980 Okay.

00:19:01.700 You good with that?

00:19:03.200 Just give me a minute,

00:19:03.960 okay?

00:19:04.080 Yeah, you betcha.

00:19:04.640 Thanks, pal.

00:19:06.160 And sure enough,

00:19:07.720 the next day

00:19:08.400 he was arrested

00:19:09.640 and our reporter

00:19:10.860 Sidney Fouzard

00:19:11.780 was on the scene.

00:19:13.300 Now watch,

00:19:13.980 this is just bizarre.

00:19:15.380 Take a look.

00:19:15.840 Is there a reason

00:19:32.440 you're blocking me

00:19:33.040 from using the sidewalk?

00:19:33.980 Instruction,

00:19:34.100 they're working here.

00:19:34.920 I'm not going to

00:19:35.360 instruct them.

00:19:42.020 Don't worry,

00:19:42.500 I'm not going to run.

00:19:43.700 I'm not going to

00:19:44.160 read about you.

00:19:44.700 We're just going to

00:19:45.320 stay out of their 0.62

00:19:45.780 workspace.

00:19:48.240 Do you mind

00:19:48.720 if I ask you

00:19:49.200 what he's being

00:19:49.600 arrested for?

00:19:50.660 You're going to

00:19:51.000 provide your

00:19:51.440 identification.

00:19:52.620 Pardon?

00:19:53.200 Will you provide

00:19:53.780 your ID?

00:19:54.960 It's for you

00:19:55.600 to answer the question?

00:19:56.780 Yeah.

00:19:57.240 Okay.

00:19:58.020 Why is he being

00:19:58.800 arrested?

00:19:59.320 He has warrants.

00:20:00.440 Warrants out

00:20:00.900 for his arrest?

00:20:02.540 Multiple,

00:20:03.060 so that's two,

00:20:03.740 I believe?

00:20:04.260 I don't know.

00:20:05.080 Okay,

00:20:05.420 do you know

00:20:05.640 what the warrants

00:20:06.020 are for?

00:20:07.680 Wow.

00:20:08.700 Am I allowed

00:20:09.240 to continue

00:20:09.760 on the sidewalk

00:20:10.760 as this lady

00:20:11.400 is walking

00:20:11.840 on the sidewalk?

00:20:12.560 It doesn't look

00:20:12.980 like she's disrupting.

00:20:13.760 Yeah, sure,

00:20:14.600 thank you very much.

00:20:15.240 I'm just going to

00:20:26.720 go to that

00:20:27.040 sidewalk across

00:20:27.800 the street.

00:20:28.200 Is that okay?

00:20:28.840 Thank you.

00:20:30.240 Kyle, just ask

00:20:44.300 if people want to

00:20:45.080 help you,

00:20:45.360 where do they go?

00:20:47.040 They can go

00:20:47.800 and contact Rebel.

00:20:49.220 They're providing me

00:20:49.880 with a lawyer.

00:20:50.520 This is what happens

00:20:51.140 when we go

00:20:51.520 against a drake.

00:20:52.080 Isn't that weird?

00:21:10.280 I think some cops 0.89

00:21:12.600 enjoy being authoritarian bullies.

00:21:14.520 I think it would attract

00:21:15.400 some people to policing

00:21:16.600 who love shooting 0.84

00:21:18.040 and beating 0.92

00:21:18.960 just a little too much.

00:21:20.400 I think the best police

00:21:21.500 are the ones

00:21:22.220 with the most self-control,

00:21:23.800 the ones who can stay calm

00:21:25.080 when all those around them

00:21:26.300 are losing it.

00:21:27.260 As we've talked about before,

00:21:28.840 one of the reasons

00:21:29.640 for that typical

00:21:30.380 drill sergeant

00:21:31.480 shout-in-your-face move

00:21:33.060 that seems like

00:21:33.900 such a caricature

00:21:34.840 when you see it

00:21:35.680 in the police academy

00:21:36.620 or in the military

00:21:37.780 is that is specifically

00:21:39.480 designed to get

00:21:40.300 right up in someone's face

00:21:41.660 to abuse them verbally,

00:21:43.740 not touch them,

00:21:44.400 but verbally abuse them

00:21:46.040 to see if the soldier

00:21:47.740 or the cop

00:21:48.620 will snap emotionally.

00:21:50.960 Because imagine

00:21:51.680 you're a police officer

00:21:52.440 so you have to show up

00:21:53.300 at night,

00:21:53.920 there's flashing lights,

00:21:54.960 there's someone arguing,

00:21:55.820 there's someone drunk,

00:21:56.500 there's someone screaming at you,

00:21:57.620 but you've got a gun

00:21:58.740 so you've got to stay calm

00:22:00.240 while all those around you

00:22:01.260 are losing their wits.

00:22:03.180 And I think most police

00:22:05.780 have their emotions

00:22:07.440 under control.

00:22:08.300 I think most cops are good,

00:22:09.940 although there's been

00:22:10.560 some atrocious cops

00:22:11.560 during the lockdowns,

00:22:12.280 but look at those cops. 0.96

00:22:14.400 I think some of those cops

00:22:16.060 knew that what they

00:22:16.960 were doing was wrong.

00:22:18.700 They knew that they were

00:22:19.720 on a political errand

00:22:20.780 for the mayor.

00:22:21.420 That one cop who had

00:22:22.840 sunglasses to hide his eyes

00:22:24.300 and turned his back

00:22:25.080 on our cameraman

00:22:25.700 and bizarrely demanded

00:22:27.360 that our cameraman

00:22:28.120 give his ID

00:22:28.920 before answering a question.

00:22:30.380 I think that cop

00:22:31.680 was actually ashamed of himself

00:22:34.680 as well he should be.

00:22:36.980 The cops in the police car,

00:22:38.360 not so much.

00:22:39.040 I think they're happy

00:22:39.660 to be little tyrants.

00:22:40.640 Anyways,

00:22:41.660 he was taken away to jail

00:22:43.660 and our reporters

00:22:44.860 tried to find them.

00:22:47.280 They went to the jail

00:22:48.500 and there's a little bit

00:22:51.360 of confusion as to where

00:22:52.360 Pastor Derek Reimer

00:22:53.620 is today.

00:22:54.260 Here's a report

00:22:55.300 that Angelica did

00:22:56.640 from the jail

00:22:57.600 earlier today.

00:22:58.800 Angelica Toy here

00:22:59.960 for Rebel News.

00:23:01.200 I'm here at Calgary's

00:23:02.300 Spy Hill Jail

00:23:03.480 trying to confirm details

00:23:05.220 about the incarceration

00:23:06.240 of Pastor Derek Reimer.

00:23:08.920 Pastor Derek was arrested

00:23:09.980 Thursday afternoon

00:23:11.080 on charges of mischief

00:23:12.760 and causing a disturbance

00:23:13.900 after he was assaulted

00:23:15.720 while protesting

00:23:16.720 a drag queen story hour

00:23:18.420 at a public library.

00:23:20.040 To learn more

00:23:20.620 and to contribute

00:23:21.420 to his official legal fund

00:23:23.440 so we can help him

00:23:24.580 fight for the right

00:23:25.540 to protest

00:23:26.120 for all Calgarians,

00:23:27.780 please visit

00:23:28.420 SavePastorDerek.com.

00:23:30.580 We just had an officer

00:23:31.800 tell me that Pastor Derek

00:23:33.280 was released at midnight

00:23:34.880 last night,

00:23:36.120 although we haven't been able

00:23:37.420 to confirm that officially

00:23:38.860 through the jail.

00:23:40.100 We have one protestor here

00:23:42.040 who is here in support

00:23:43.360 of Pastor Derek

00:23:43.920 who is blaring Christian music

00:23:45.320 and sharing the gospel.

00:23:47.320 I'm going to stick around

00:23:48.380 until I can get

00:23:49.160 concrete information

00:23:50.320 on that Pastor Derek

00:23:51.880 has been released or not.

00:23:53.900 My colleague Sidney Fazzard

00:23:55.420 and I will continue

00:23:56.440 to chase the facts.

00:23:58.420 Another pastor

00:23:59.100 that was incarcerated

00:24:00.100 at this jail,

00:24:01.520 Arta Pulaski,

00:24:02.300 has a press conference

00:24:03.220 planned for this afternoon,

00:24:04.940 so stay tuned.

00:24:05.860 Where is Pastor Reimer?

00:24:07.720 I hope he's okay.

00:24:08.460 We'll talk to our reporter

00:24:09.820 Angelica in a moment.

00:24:12.100 But what do you think

00:24:12.840 of this whole story?

00:24:13.760 First of all,

00:24:14.640 have you heard about it

00:24:15.560 in any other media?

00:24:17.080 Have you heard about it

00:24:18.000 even in the Calgary Sun

00:24:20.500 or the Calgary Herald,

00:24:21.480 let alone the CBC,

00:24:22.660 the Toronto Star,

00:24:23.240 the Globe and Mail,

00:24:24.280 a pastor arrested?

00:24:25.940 Do you think that

00:24:26.800 if a Muslim imam

00:24:29.600 or a Jewish rabbi

00:24:31.040 were arrested,

00:24:31.820 do you think that the media

00:24:32.700 would ignore it?

00:24:33.820 No, I don't think so either.

00:24:36.160 If he was arrested

00:24:37.180 and then let go

00:24:38.420 at midnight

00:24:39.120 or whenever he was let go

00:24:40.700 and can't be found

00:24:41.760 and no one knew

00:24:43.840 where he was,

00:24:44.520 do you think that

00:24:44.980 would make the news?

00:24:45.640 I do,

00:24:46.200 but he's a Christian pastor

00:24:47.320 so the media doesn't care

00:24:49.120 or frankly they're glad

00:24:50.200 he's being arrested.

00:24:52.400 But I think it comes back

00:24:53.760 to the political abuse

00:24:55.000 of our legal system

00:24:56.180 which happened regularly

00:24:57.880 during the lockdowns

00:24:59.080 and the pandemic.

00:24:59.580 I think politicians

00:25:00.600 got a taste of raw power

00:25:02.660 and they don't want

00:25:03.120 to give it up.

00:25:03.580 Let me quote to you

00:25:05.000 from the Public Order

00:25:07.880 Inquiry Commission,

00:25:09.000 the Trucker Commission.

00:25:10.600 There were various

00:25:11.560 legal documents

00:25:12.340 that were published

00:25:12.820 that thousands of pages

00:25:13.980 have published

00:25:14.440 and here's something

00:25:15.400 that one of our team

00:25:16.280 dug up.

00:25:17.700 So the lawyers

00:25:18.680 in the Emergencies Act

00:25:20.960 Commission

00:25:21.440 interviewed various witnesses

00:25:23.800 and then published

00:25:24.520 a summary

00:25:25.200 of what the witnesses said

00:25:26.880 and then some of those witnesses

00:25:27.860 were later cross-examining

00:25:29.440 the commission.

00:25:29.880 That's just the process

00:25:30.740 we have.

00:25:31.600 So I'm about to read

00:25:32.660 to you from notes

00:25:34.380 made by the Emergencies Act

00:25:36.520 Commission lawyers

00:25:37.620 and published

00:25:38.720 by the Emergencies Act

00:25:39.940 Commission,

00:25:40.340 published by Justice Rouleau.

00:25:42.960 Let me read it to you

00:25:43.840 and it's about

00:25:44.380 the Justice Minister Lamedi

00:25:47.420 and what he had to say.

00:25:48.800 Ready?

00:25:50.080 Minister Lamedi

00:25:51.240 identified two areas

00:25:53.080 in which the legislative

00:25:55.180 and policy reform

00:25:56.340 was required.

00:25:57.460 The first was

00:25:59.520 legislative amendments

00:26:00.480 to the Emergencies Act

00:26:01.800 itself

00:26:02.320 to make it more responsive

00:26:04.400 to pandemics

00:26:05.800 and health emergencies.

00:26:08.540 As in,

00:26:09.440 can you believe it,

00:26:10.460 Lamedi wants to be able

00:26:11.420 to declare a national

00:26:12.480 martial law

00:26:13.240 for a pandemic next time.

00:26:15.340 But look at this.

00:26:17.440 There is also a need

00:26:19.300 to modernize

00:26:20.380 the language of the act

00:26:21.920 to address online harms

00:26:25.140 such as violent

00:26:27.500 online rhetoric

00:26:28.820 and financing.

00:26:31.380 Really?

00:26:34.000 So the invocation

00:26:35.620 of martial law

00:26:36.480 wasn't easy enough

00:26:38.200 for Lamedi

00:26:39.160 and the liberals.

00:26:39.720 They want it easier,

00:26:40.780 especially if there's

00:26:41.720 another pandemic afoot.

00:26:43.860 That's what David Lamedi

00:26:45.300 took away from it

00:26:46.120 is it wasn't easy enough

00:26:47.300 to declare martial law.

00:26:48.820 And it wasn't enough

00:26:50.860 that they said,

00:26:52.000 oh, we saw some

00:26:52.980 diagonal on people

00:26:55.020 with a flag

00:26:55.740 and that could have

00:26:56.760 become a crisis.

00:26:57.620 They literally want

00:26:58.460 to give the government

00:27:00.220 permission to declare

00:27:01.320 a national emergency

00:27:02.320 based on,

00:27:03.000 you read it,

00:27:03.920 online rhetoric.

00:27:06.640 Online rhetoric.

00:27:08.460 But look,

00:27:10.120 if Justin Trudeau

00:27:11.420 and David Lamedi

00:27:12.360 can punish their enemies

00:27:13.680 and if Justice Rouleau

00:27:16.580 says,

00:27:17.020 yeah, they had cause,

00:27:18.080 why can't a mayor? 0.78

00:27:19.300 If Trudeau can punish

00:27:21.760 his enemies,

00:27:22.220 why can't a mayor? 0.78

00:27:23.280 If Trudeau can fire

00:27:24.360 a police chief,

00:27:25.660 as he did in Ottawa,

00:27:26.700 why can't a mayor

00:27:27.800 of Calgary?

00:27:28.720 If Trudeau can bring

00:27:29.880 in martial law,

00:27:31.900 hmm,

00:27:33.320 why can't a mayor

00:27:34.700 of Calgary?

00:27:37.220 And why does nobody care?

00:27:40.940 Other than us

00:27:41.860 and an American

00:27:42.600 named Tucker Carlson,

00:27:44.920 here's a clip

00:27:45.600 of me talking with him.

00:27:46.920 I'll skip the first part.

00:27:47.900 It was a seven-minute segment.

00:27:48.940 The first part

00:27:49.880 was Tucker just

00:27:50.800 rehearsing the facts,

00:27:52.100 but here's my conversation

00:27:53.600 with Tucker Carlson.

00:27:54.440 Take a look.

00:27:54.940 Thank you so much

00:27:55.700 for coming on.

00:27:56.720 It's hard to believe

00:27:57.660 that this is happening

00:27:59.000 in your country.

00:28:01.260 Meta question first,

00:28:02.360 is anyone saying anything

00:28:03.440 about it other than you?

00:28:05.740 Not a lot.

00:28:06.780 I mean,

00:28:07.420 Tucker,

00:28:07.840 you have done more journalism

00:28:09.260 on Christian pastors

00:28:10.800 being jailed in Canada

00:28:12.200 than most Canadian media.

00:28:14.240 In fact,

00:28:14.620 the Canadian media

00:28:15.580 either ignore it

00:28:16.760 or cheer it on,

00:28:18.140 calling these people bigots.

00:28:19.640 I should say

00:28:20.680 that there were no charges

00:28:22.320 emanating from

00:28:23.500 the Drag Queen Story Hour

00:28:24.780 itself,

00:28:25.640 neither against

00:28:26.280 Pastor Reimer

00:28:27.000 or against the three men

00:28:28.520 who roughed him up.

00:28:29.640 But then the left-wing

00:28:30.960 mayor of Calgary

00:28:32.000 went on a Twitter rant

00:28:33.300 saying that anyone

00:28:34.400 who lies

00:28:35.540 or engages in vitriol

00:28:37.380 or is full of hate

00:28:38.780 should be arrested

00:28:40.140 and charged.

00:28:40.860 Now,

00:28:41.000 those aren't crimes,

00:28:41.980 by the way.

00:28:42.920 Some of them

00:28:43.440 are a matter of opinion.

00:28:44.480 I could think

00:28:44.980 that the mayor

00:28:45.440 is full of hate.

00:28:46.520 But after the mayor

00:28:47.500 basically directed police

00:28:49.320 to arrest peaceful protesters,

00:28:51.520 they did.

00:28:52.220 And you saw that cop.

00:28:53.560 I think he was embarrassed

00:28:54.960 and ashamed

00:28:55.840 of what he was doing.

00:28:56.640 He had sunglasses on.

00:28:58.120 He was blocking

00:28:58.860 our cameraman.

00:29:00.240 He had that bizarre move.

00:29:01.740 Show me your ID

00:29:02.660 before I answer a question.

00:29:04.000 I think he knows

00:29:05.360 that he is doing

00:29:06.420 something contrary

00:29:07.540 to his oath

00:29:08.740 as a police officer.

00:29:10.160 Right now,

00:29:10.860 we have a reporter

00:29:11.640 staked out

00:29:12.420 at the city jail

00:29:13.860 because Tucker,

00:29:15.080 I don't know if,

00:29:16.140 I mean,

00:29:16.580 he's charged with mischief

00:29:17.860 and causing a disturbance.

00:29:19.940 Of course,

00:29:20.380 he was the one

00:29:21.140 who was disturbed

00:29:21.840 by the roughing up.

00:29:23.180 It'll be interesting

00:29:23.900 to see if he gets out

00:29:24.780 on bail

00:29:25.280 or,

00:29:26.440 like Arthur Pawlowski,

00:29:27.680 the other Christian pastor,

00:29:29.360 if he'll serve

00:29:30.040 50 days in prison,

00:29:32.080 which is what happened then.

00:29:34.180 I say this

00:29:35.240 as one of the few Americans

00:29:36.300 I know really

00:29:37.200 who sincerely loves Canada

00:29:38.400 and I mean that,

00:29:39.180 but it does seem like

00:29:39.980 darkness is descending

00:29:41.140 on your country.

00:29:43.100 I have to say

00:29:44.020 just a few weeks ago,

00:29:45.160 Justin Trudeau's

00:29:45.920 martial law

00:29:46.860 where he seized

00:29:48.820 bank accounts

00:29:49.680 and deployed riot horses

00:29:51.340 because people

00:29:51.960 were honking their horns

00:29:53.000 in their trucks

00:29:53.660 and having a festive,

00:29:56.720 peaceful opposition

00:29:57.600 to the lockdowns.

00:29:58.780 A judge had

00:29:59.800 a lengthy inquiry

00:30:01.180 and he said,

00:30:02.400 thumbs up,

00:30:03.300 that there was

00:30:03.940 a justification

00:30:04.800 for martial law.

00:30:06.680 And so I'm telling you,

00:30:07.960 Tucker,

00:30:08.360 the checks and balances

00:30:09.400 in Canada

00:30:09.960 no longer work.

00:30:11.420 The opposition parties

00:30:12.500 often don't oppose.

00:30:14.260 The media cheerleads.

00:30:15.500 It's not skeptical

00:30:16.260 or critical.

00:30:17.400 The courts

00:30:17.860 are of no use.

00:30:19.320 Not a single lockdown law

00:30:20.580 was overturned.

00:30:21.760 Our so-called

00:30:22.260 Charter of Rights

00:30:22.980 and Freedoms

00:30:23.500 has not struck down

00:30:24.780 a single action

00:30:25.820 like this.

00:30:26.800 And I'm starting to think

00:30:28.220 that we might need help

00:30:29.360 from abroad.

00:30:30.520 And so I'd say

00:30:31.060 to your audience,

00:30:31.680 I know you have senators

00:30:32.580 and congressmen

00:30:33.460 who care about civil rights

00:30:35.040 and human rights

00:30:35.600 in China

00:30:36.240 and Iran

00:30:37.120 and places like that.

00:30:38.080 And I would say,

00:30:38.780 please,

00:30:39.820 cast an eye

00:30:40.540 up to Canada too.

00:30:41.860 Because I'm worried

00:30:42.720 that we no longer

00:30:43.380 have the capacity

00:30:44.280 to push back

00:30:45.580 for human rights.

00:30:46.840 And Canadian politicians

00:30:48.000 are very attentive

00:30:49.460 when Americans

00:30:50.340 criticize

00:30:50.920 or mention them.

00:30:52.260 Please,

00:30:53.020 American senators

00:30:53.900 and congressmen,

00:30:54.800 put us on your watch list.

00:30:56.540 Things are getting

00:30:57.160 bad up here.

00:30:58.540 What you saw there

00:30:59.500 was more primetime coverage

00:31:01.680 of Derek Reimer's arrest

00:31:03.300 than the rest

00:31:04.460 of the Canadian

00:31:05.140 mainstream media

00:31:06.260 combined.

00:31:08.300 I actually believe

00:31:09.760 what I say there.

00:31:11.680 I hope that American

00:31:12.980 senators and congressmen

00:31:14.300 start to care

00:31:15.060 about our civil liberties

00:31:16.160 because I think

00:31:17.820 our senators

00:31:18.480 and MPs

00:31:19.280 don't care about it enough.

00:31:22.340 Stay with us.

00:31:23.200 We'll talk to Angelica next.

00:31:35.140 Well, joining us now

00:31:37.460 from downtown Calgary

00:31:39.200 is our friend

00:31:40.120 and reporter

00:31:40.620 Angelica Toya.

00:31:41.760 Angelica, great to see you.

00:31:43.260 You have been covering

00:31:43.960 this story very closely

00:31:45.400 along with Sidney Fouzard.

00:31:47.460 Tell me,

00:31:48.240 where are you now

00:31:49.220 and what is the latest?

00:31:52.300 So, I'm at

00:31:53.240 City Hall

00:31:54.080 and this morning

00:31:55.800 I ended up going

00:31:56.780 to the Calgary

00:31:58.080 Spy Hill Jail Center

00:31:59.940 and I was sitting there

00:32:01.280 for hours

00:32:01.780 until a police officer

00:32:02.740 had come outside

00:32:03.760 and had informed me

00:32:05.200 that Derek Reimer

00:32:06.260 had supposedly

00:32:07.120 been released

00:32:07.920 at midnight

00:32:09.000 the night before.

00:32:10.620 Now, yesterday

00:32:11.860 I was also there

00:32:13.040 so about 7pm

00:32:14.260 until an officer

00:32:15.000 had told me

00:32:15.560 that Derek

00:32:15.960 will not be released

00:32:16.780 until the following day.

00:32:19.020 He didn't specify

00:32:19.960 whether or not

00:32:20.480 it was in the morning

00:32:20.980 or later

00:32:21.860 but, you know,

00:32:22.540 I came there bright and early

00:32:23.320 just to make sure

00:32:23.940 I could catch him

00:32:24.580 and I was told

00:32:25.880 he was released.

00:32:26.680 So, right now

00:32:27.340 nobody knows

00:32:28.180 his whereabouts

00:32:29.160 his roommate

00:32:30.920 doesn't know

00:32:31.300 where he is

00:32:32.100 nobody has any contact

00:32:33.220 from his cell phone

00:32:34.180 nobody's heard from him

00:32:35.560 so currently

00:32:36.400 he is, I guess, missing.

00:32:38.840 Well, that's very strange

00:32:40.120 and I hope he's okay.

00:32:41.480 I wonder if the police officer

00:32:43.060 who basically told you

00:32:44.240 to go home

00:32:45.000 was doing that

00:32:46.720 in good faith

00:32:47.380 or if it was just trickery

00:32:48.740 as we saw yesterday

00:32:50.300 when the police

00:32:51.220 arrested

00:32:51.840 Pastor Reimer

00:32:53.020 they tried to block

00:32:54.380 Sidney

00:32:54.880 block his camera

00:32:55.900 made up some BS excuse

00:32:57.580 to get him to show ID

00:32:58.980 our cameraman

00:33:00.140 I mean

00:33:00.580 I think the Calgary police

00:33:02.020 are behaving very badly

00:33:03.300 I don't know

00:33:04.340 if the message to you

00:33:05.740 to go home

00:33:06.280 was a trick or what

00:33:07.260 it is odd

00:33:08.540 that he cannot be found

00:33:10.660 but I don't want to read

00:33:12.260 too much into that yet

00:33:13.420 he may just be avoiding

00:33:14.740 publicity

00:33:15.640 for whatever reasons

00:33:16.600 including perhaps

00:33:17.480 on lawyers advice

00:33:19.880 now tell me

00:33:20.780 what else happened today

00:33:21.760 because I understand

00:33:22.500 that Pastor Arthur Pawlowski

00:33:24.100 who of course

00:33:25.500 we've been defending

00:33:26.300 for three years

00:33:27.380 since he was the target

00:33:29.440 of a lockdown charge

00:33:30.820 I understand

00:33:31.820 he had a rally

00:33:32.800 in support

00:33:33.540 of Pastor Reimer today

00:33:35.020 tell us how that went

00:33:36.480 yes correct

00:33:38.100 so as soon as I got here

00:33:39.520 we all decided

00:33:40.400 to come into this building

00:33:41.680 and warm up a bit

00:33:42.960 just before the press conference

00:33:44.120 and they ended up

00:33:45.620 asking the security guards

00:33:46.600 they said it was totally fine

00:33:47.880 and then all of a sudden

00:33:49.340 it started to go downhill

00:33:50.960 and Bob Layone

00:33:52.840 somebody who used to work

00:33:54.620 for the Independence Party

00:33:55.500 of Alberta

00:33:55.940 is close with Pastor Archer

00:33:57.360 he was the one

00:33:58.720 who technically organized

00:33:59.740 the event

00:34:00.240 and he was talking

00:34:01.300 with a security guard

00:34:02.300 trying to you know

00:34:03.460 make sure everything

00:34:04.040 was going smoothly

00:34:04.820 and then another security

00:34:06.300 bypassed him

00:34:07.240 and started

00:34:07.940 raising his voice

00:34:09.720 at Archer Pawlowski

00:34:10.540 telling him that

00:34:11.340 he must leave

00:34:12.320 that he is not allowed

00:34:13.440 in here

00:34:13.920 and then from there

00:34:15.100 it escalated

00:34:15.820 there was a lot

00:34:16.460 of yelling

00:34:16.920 and other protesters

00:34:19.160 that were in the building

00:34:21.180 also started

00:34:22.100 getting involved

00:34:23.900 and it just became

00:34:24.700 a large

00:34:25.260 large altercation there

00:34:27.880 and afterwards

00:34:29.280 another protester

00:34:30.280 was also told

00:34:31.160 to leave the building

00:34:32.380 I understand that

00:34:33.480 Pastor Arthur Pawlowski

00:34:34.780 has been banned

00:34:35.900 from City Hall

00:34:38.100 given a order

00:34:39.260 under the Trespass Act

00:34:40.660 for a month

00:34:41.920 yes

00:34:42.160 now I haven't studied

00:34:44.460 Calgary's trespass

00:34:46.660 bylaws closely

00:34:47.600 I have studied them

00:34:48.480 in other cities

00:34:49.540 like here in Toronto

00:34:50.440 because I remember

00:34:51.240 when we were trying

00:34:52.280 to go to City Hall

00:34:53.120 in Toronto

00:34:54.080 and there was sort of a

00:34:55.360 I don't know more

00:34:56.460 Antifa shanty town there

00:34:58.440 and their security

00:34:59.780 and police were trying

00:35:00.480 to shoo us away

00:35:01.420 we studied the law

00:35:03.020 we realized

00:35:03.900 that public property

00:35:05.680 doesn't have the same

00:35:07.480 trespass rules

00:35:08.380 as private property

00:35:09.480 at least in Toronto

00:35:10.940 you can kick anyone

00:35:12.220 off your private property

00:35:13.680 for any reason

00:35:14.600 or no reason

00:35:15.360 and it should be that way

00:35:16.440 if someone's on your

00:35:17.340 front yard

00:35:18.140 you should be able

00:35:18.680 to say get off

00:35:19.440 and they should have

00:35:20.000 to leave without a reason

00:35:21.400 but on public property

00:35:22.700 it's very different

00:35:23.500 unless you're doing

00:35:24.740 something aggressive

00:35:26.220 like drunken disorderly

00:35:29.020 or there's certain

00:35:30.260 prohibited activities

00:35:31.700 but other than that

00:35:32.980 you can be in a park

00:35:34.220 you can be in a public place

00:35:36.320 you can be on a sidewalk

00:35:37.940 and the idea of

00:35:39.060 trespassing someone

00:35:40.400 off of a public place

00:35:42.320 I'm skeptical

00:35:44.180 that it was done

00:35:44.860 lawfully

00:35:45.360 because a city hall

00:35:47.460 I mean perhaps

00:35:48.260 in the council chambers

00:35:49.300 there's a different rule

00:35:50.340 but just being in

00:35:51.240 the big building

00:35:52.180 of city hall

00:35:52.800 and someone says

00:35:53.600 get out

00:35:54.100 because the mayor

00:35:55.240 hates

00:35:55.900 Arthur Pawlowski

00:35:57.580 and Derek Reimer

00:35:58.340 with a passion

00:35:59.940 of a thousand

00:36:00.640 burning suns

00:36:01.760 you can tell

00:36:02.320 do you know

00:36:04.180 what they did wrong

00:36:05.200 other than the mayor

00:36:06.800 hating these guys

00:36:08.100 what happened

00:36:08.900 they've done

00:36:11.580 nothing wrong

00:36:12.140 both of them

00:36:13.060 have all exercised

00:36:14.400 their charter of rights

00:36:15.580 and whenever you say

00:36:17.100 something that the

00:36:17.880 establishment doesn't like 0.61

00:36:18.940 they crack down on you

00:36:19.980 just like Justin Trudeau

00:36:21.300 has done with Rebel News

00:36:22.320 and I would also

00:36:23.720 like to add

00:36:24.560 the altercation

00:36:25.740 did not stop

00:36:26.720 just inside city hall

00:36:27.960 it continued outside

00:36:29.260 when Pastor Arthur

00:36:30.420 had set up

00:36:31.200 he had just finished

00:36:32.700 his speech

00:36:33.180 and police officers

00:36:34.600 had approached him

00:36:35.500 and they were trying

00:36:36.120 to serve him

00:36:36.680 with a trespass

00:36:37.680 the trespass notice

00:36:38.720 and Arthur

00:36:39.960 denied

00:36:40.940 and he did not

00:36:41.700 want to physically

00:36:42.420 take the ticket

00:36:43.200 so the police officers

00:36:44.420 kept pushing

00:36:45.520 and they ended up

00:36:46.760 actually chasing him

00:36:48.380 and cornering him

00:36:50.460 and it was

00:36:51.860 it became

00:36:52.700 a big mess

00:36:54.380 and after that

00:36:55.980 whole entire thing

00:36:56.680 he ended up

00:36:57.240 him and his brother

00:36:58.160 David

00:36:58.500 they both got served

00:36:59.800 with a one year

00:37:01.060 ban from city hall

00:37:02.200 one year ban

00:37:04.040 I thought it was

00:37:04.920 one month

00:37:05.560 a one year ban

00:37:07.360 now it's a one year ban

00:37:08.640 yes

00:37:09.040 you know what

00:37:09.780 I just

00:37:10.140 I just don't think

00:37:11.080 that's how it works

00:37:12.040 like if

00:37:12.420 again

00:37:12.960 a shopping center

00:37:15.120 a casino

00:37:16.760 a restaurant

00:37:18.460 a hotel

00:37:19.220 they can come up

00:37:20.520 with one year ban

00:37:21.460 one week ban

00:37:22.400 they can do

00:37:23.140 whatever they want

00:37:23.580 because it's private property

00:37:24.640 even a shopping center

00:37:25.580 which is open

00:37:27.580 to the public

00:37:28.040 they can ban someone

00:37:29.220 because it's their property

00:37:30.500 but just to

00:37:31.120 just because

00:37:31.880 a mayor is angry

00:37:33.460 at someone

00:37:33.940 to say

00:37:34.320 you can't come

00:37:35.220 to my city hall

00:37:36.400 for one year

00:37:37.500 I just don't think

00:37:38.940 that's how it works

00:37:39.980 I just don't think

00:37:40.940 that's how it works

00:37:41.560 I think we have

00:37:42.400 a bit of a

00:37:43.680 tyrant

00:37:44.560 as mayor

00:37:45.300 I thought the last mayor

00:37:46.520 of Calgary was bad

00:37:47.340 this mayor

00:37:48.500 takes the cake

00:37:49.280 I'm shocked

00:37:50.760 you're allowed in there

00:37:51.640 have they tried

00:37:52.280 to arrest you

00:37:53.160 surprisingly

00:37:55.020 I

00:37:55.600 for as long

00:37:56.660 as I've been

00:37:57.380 around this realm

00:37:58.880 I've been

00:37:59.840 kept safe

00:38:00.740 glad to hear it

00:38:02.600 and of course

00:38:03.320 you have

00:38:03.860 your rights too

00:38:05.040 as any citizen

00:38:06.380 a journalist

00:38:07.180 has no more rights

00:38:08.420 than a citizen

00:38:09.080 but it's clear

00:38:09.980 you're practicing

00:38:10.640 journalism

00:38:11.160 exercising your

00:38:12.120 section 2b

00:38:13.660 charter of rights

00:38:14.500 freedom of the press

00:38:15.620 freedom of speech

00:38:16.480 mobility rights

00:38:17.700 etc

00:38:18.080 wow

00:38:19.680 Calgary has fallen

00:38:21.000 it's just an incredible story

00:38:23.040 and please

00:38:23.580 keep in touch

00:38:24.560 with

00:38:24.980 with all the players

00:38:27.240 in this

00:38:27.600 and if you do

00:38:28.240 find Pastor Reimer

00:38:29.620 let us know

00:38:30.420 we hope he's okay

00:38:31.680 maybe he's just

00:38:33.160 stepping out of the media glare

00:38:34.600 which I don't think

00:38:35.780 is necessarily a bad idea

00:38:37.020 although in the case

00:38:38.180 of Rebel News

00:38:38.780 we're certainly supporters

00:38:40.380 as opposed to

00:38:41.200 the other media

00:38:41.800 which despise him

00:38:43.280 keep up the great word

00:38:44.240 thanks for waiting

00:38:45.080 especially

00:38:45.920 it's so cold out there

00:38:47.020 I was checking

00:38:47.500 it's going down

00:38:47.960 to minus 22

00:38:48.740 I appreciate you

00:38:51.480 staking out the jail

00:38:52.840 when it was so cold

00:38:53.840 thanks for doing that

00:38:54.920 thank you Isaac

00:38:56.300 all right

00:38:57.160 you take care

00:38:57.640 there you have it

00:38:58.140 Angelica Toy

00:38:58.940 in Calgary

00:39:00.400 on the beat

00:39:01.180 of Pastor Arthur Pawlowski

00:39:02.860 and Pastor Derek Ramer

00:39:04.980 stay with us

00:39:06.060 after the break

00:39:06.940 your letters to me

00:39:07.760 hey welcome back

00:39:20.360 your letters to me

00:39:21.060 Christine Prentice

00:39:21.820 says dear Ezra

00:39:22.660 we donate for security guards

00:39:24.200 to protect our rebel reporters

00:39:25.720 where was the bodyguards

00:39:27.120 to protect Alexa

00:39:28.100 during this incident

00:39:29.040 with all the illegal migrants 1.00

00:39:30.540 and said

00:39:30.840 Roxham Road border crossing

00:39:32.040 is a dangerous location

00:39:33.180 that's a fair point

00:39:34.680 we honestly

00:39:35.860 didn't imagine

00:39:38.140 that that would happen

00:39:39.560 we had been on the Canadian side

00:39:41.360 before

00:39:41.700 and there's a ton of cops

00:39:43.260 when people come across

00:39:45.520 the border

00:39:45.980 they're generally quite

00:39:46.860 docile and submissive

00:39:48.260 because they don't want

00:39:49.360 to be arrested

00:39:50.200 for anything other than

00:39:51.660 the crossing the border

00:39:52.860 illegally

00:39:53.380 this was just a

00:39:55.240 I'd almost say a rant

00:39:57.120 not quite a random

00:39:58.280 but something that

00:39:59.800 neither us

00:40:00.960 nor Alexa

00:40:01.920 foresaw

00:40:03.120 and we are pursuing it

00:40:06.040 retaining a lawyer

00:40:08.000 on the American side

00:40:08.840 we want to take some steps

00:40:10.020 but

00:40:10.800 fact is

00:40:12.040 we simply can't have

00:40:13.360 a bodyguard

00:40:14.620 with our reporters

00:40:15.820 all the time

00:40:17.040 whenever we go

00:40:18.120 to a protest

00:40:18.780 where we think

00:40:19.420 there'll be Antifa

00:40:20.380 or something like that

00:40:21.500 we have security

00:40:22.800 most of the time

00:40:23.780 we rely on the talent

00:40:25.320 to say

00:40:25.840 hey I think there might be trouble

00:40:27.200 and then we immediately

00:40:27.960 arrange security

00:40:28.800 but honestly

00:40:29.920 none of us thought

00:40:30.860 there would be

00:40:31.420 a spontaneous altercation

00:40:34.400 like that

00:40:35.020 it's simply

00:40:36.940 unfeasible

00:40:38.420 for us to have

00:40:39.320 a guard

00:40:40.200 with all our people

00:40:41.460 all the time

00:40:42.300 and in this case

00:40:43.540 we just did not

00:40:44.720 foresee that this guy

00:40:45.840 would snap

00:40:46.460 now thank God

00:40:47.220 and luckily

00:40:47.740 she wasn't truly hurt

00:40:49.260 but I share your upset

00:40:50.380 with it

00:40:50.820 and listen

00:40:52.260 if we had a billion dollars

00:40:53.520 we would have bodyguards

00:40:54.600 accompanying all our people

00:40:56.020 all the time

00:40:56.820 well maybe not

00:40:58.020 I don't even

00:40:58.460 I think that would get

00:40:59.400 in their way

00:40:59.900 and it would change

00:41:01.100 how the journalism

00:41:01.840 was done

00:41:02.340 but I guess my response

00:41:04.380 to you would be

00:41:04.820 we just didn't see it

00:41:05.780 coming at that event

00:41:06.640 we weren't prepared

00:41:07.620 because we didn't think

00:41:08.500 it was a risky situation

00:41:09.600 James Burke writes

00:41:12.040 Ezra if you're going

00:41:12.840 to waste my money

00:41:13.780 my donations

00:41:14.520 on anti-China

00:41:15.580 anti-communist whining

00:41:17.120 I want my donation back

00:41:19.000 this kind of pointless

00:41:20.220 ranting and whining 0.66

00:41:20.980 waste everyone's time

00:41:21.860 and my donation

00:41:22.540 please stop

00:41:23.360 well I'm not sure

00:41:26.100 what you donated

00:41:26.740 first of all

00:41:27.080 thank you for donating

00:41:28.000 and I'm not sure

00:41:28.640 what cause you

00:41:29.640 you donated for

00:41:31.500 we do many different

00:41:32.640 causes and campaigns

00:41:33.800 but I will answer you

00:41:36.800 straight 0.70

00:41:37.320 straight forward

00:41:38.080 and say we are

00:41:38.800 anti-communist

00:41:39.680 the same way

00:41:40.860 we're anti-Nazi

00:41:41.780 in fact communism

00:41:42.660 and Nazism

00:41:43.420 have more in common

00:41:44.740 than you might think

00:41:45.580 we're also

00:41:47.440 pro-Canadian

00:41:48.360 we're pro-American

00:41:49.020 and pro-British

00:41:49.720 and pro-Australia

00:41:50.580 too

00:41:50.720 we're pro-Western

00:41:51.580 and so because of that

00:41:53.520 and because we believe

00:41:54.260 in national sovereignty

00:41:55.240 we're against

00:41:56.560 interference

00:41:57.580 from foreign countries

00:41:58.820 especially dictatorships

00:42:00.180 like China 0.66

00:42:00.660 so I'm just going to

00:42:02.760 politely disagree

00:42:03.560 with you

00:42:03.960 and say

00:42:04.380 I'm a little surprised

00:42:06.300 that you're surprised

00:42:07.520 that we're anti-communist

00:42:08.600 especially anti-Chinese

00:42:10.060 communism

00:42:10.440 by the way

00:42:10.840 we don't like

00:42:11.400 Vladimir Putin much either

00:42:12.620 we just don't feel like

00:42:14.340 going to World War III

00:42:15.340 with him

00:42:16.020 but I think

00:42:17.920 it's absolutely

00:42:18.720 essential

00:42:19.300 that Canada

00:42:19.940 look into the corruption

00:42:21.060 real corruption

00:42:22.640 not some fake

00:42:23.780 conspiracy theory

00:42:25.360 like the Democrats

00:42:26.120 cooked up

00:42:26.700 for the Russians

00:42:27.520 and Trump

00:42:27.960 but a real conspiracy

00:42:29.580 that's incontrovertible

00:42:31.560 that the Chinese government

00:42:33.040 spent money

00:42:34.500 on the Trudeau Foundation

00:42:35.720 to curry favor

00:42:36.420 with Justin Trudeau

00:42:37.340 that the Chinese government

00:42:38.920 interfered with nominations

00:42:40.580 that's not a conspiracy theory

00:42:42.440 that is actually

00:42:43.380 a conspiracy

00:42:44.160 and it actually

00:42:45.440 succeeded

00:42:46.120 so I'm surprised

00:42:47.400 that you're surprised

00:42:48.300 appreciate your support

00:42:49.760 in the past

00:42:50.140 and I hope you'll support us

00:42:50.980 in the future

00:42:51.360 you honestly can't be surprised

00:42:52.820 that we're anti-communist

00:42:53.820 am I right

00:42:54.200 that's our show for the day

00:42:56.240 what a pleasure

00:42:57.000 to be with you

00:42:57.680 until next time

00:42:58.780 on behalf of all of us

00:42:59.760 here at Rebel World
