00:00:00.000 say folks if you have the misfortune of being in criminal court but you're seeking to get a reduced
00:00:22.460 sentence well simply claim that you are racialized and indigenous and well bob's your uncle
00:00:30.940 it's wednesday february the 4th 2026 i'm david menzies and this is the ezra lavent show
00:00:39.480 shame on you you censorious bug
00:00:52.460 consider the iconic image of lady justice to begin with she is holding a set of scales the
00:01:01.940 scales symbolize the careful balancing of evidence arguments and opposing sides in a dispute to
00:01:10.300 determine truth lady justice is also brandishing a sword this represents the authority power and
00:01:18.380 finality of the law as well as the ability to punish and finally there is the blindfold the
00:01:25.620 blindfold represents impartiality and objectivity indicating that justice is administered without
00:01:34.140 fear favor or bias regarding wealth power or status allow me to repeat that last sentence
00:01:41.780 justice is administered without fear favor or bias regarding wealth power or status i make mention
00:01:51.420 of the iconic lady justice and all that she represents or is supposed to represent regarding
00:01:58.340 a staggering court decision that was rendered in toronto recently it is a decision that goes against
00:02:05.680 everything the justice system should embrace when it comes to fairness and impartiality here's the skinny
00:02:13.840 according to a story published in the national post headlined quote judge grants leniency for toronto crack
00:02:23.360 dealer because of his nine children and his race and quote here's the lead paragraph quote a toronto crack
00:02:32.640 cocaine dealer caught back in business three times over the course of 10 months managed to convince a judge
00:02:41.360 that he deserves some leniency because putting him behind bars would mean hardship for his nine children but
00:02:50.000 not because he's addicted to the drugs he was caught peddling lloyd williams pleaded guilty in ontario's court of
00:02:58.560 justice to three counts of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking in what justice andre chamberlain
00:03:06.160 described as the deeply troubled neighborhood surrounding the intersection at dundas and sherburne streets
00:03:15.840 for arrests on march 3rd 2024 october 25 2024 and january 4th 2025 williams who was released after each arrest
00:03:28.720 twice on bail and a third time on the promise he wear a gps tracking device also pleaded guilty to one
00:03:37.120 count of possession of proceeds of crime over five thousand dollars and two counts for under that amount
00:03:45.840 and failing to comply with a release order on february 15th 2025 the crown recommended a six and a half
00:03:54.320 year prison sentence williams lawyer argued for two years less a day in jail end quote so folks to recap
00:04:02.880 here's what we know about the illustrious mr williams he has been nabbed numerous times peddling crack
00:04:10.000 cocaine he has breached his bail conditions he has nine kids from multiple mothers the youngest child is just
00:04:20.560 10 months old one is 22 months old and another is three williams also has nine-year-old twins
00:04:27.920 two 10 year olds and a 16 year old it should be noted that one of his nine-year-olds is on the autism
00:04:36.400 spectrum you know that's a lot of dependence that's a lot of responsibility so thank god williams has a
00:04:43.840 stable and high-paying career as well drug dealing scumbag anyway as the saying goes what's the use
00:04:51.680 of having kids if you can't exploit them because here's what judge andre chamberlain stated in his
00:04:59.280 decision quote williams states that he provides support as a father to his children and that any
00:05:07.440 lengthy absence would have a significant impact on their health and well-being end quote yep that's
00:05:15.760 right the genetic jackhammer that is lloyd williams is truly father of the year material but seriously
00:05:23.840 how are these poor children benefiting from being raised by a drug dealer and come on nine kids
00:05:33.760 multiple mothers seriously this is the height of irresponsibility and it's downright selfish
00:05:42.000 oh but wait there's more williams identifies as being both black and micmac so what does that have
00:05:50.640 to do with the price of tea in china you ask race and skin color should be irrelevant in a court of law
00:05:58.800 right well not in 2026 not in canada apparently not when a woke judge is on the bench at this point
00:06:07.040 the story gets a tad surreal you see williams was unable to actually prove that he is a micmac native
00:06:16.000 oh but never mind he gave it the good old college try and indeed judge chamberlain said he was quote
00:06:24.240 satisfied williams has established a connection to indigenous ancestry end quote forgive me folks
00:06:33.200 because i remain in a state of profound confusion right now williams could not i repeat he could not
00:06:42.080 prove he was indigenous yet the judge seems to be saying that since williams identifies as being
00:06:49.360 indigenous well then who are we to say otherwise holy elizabeth warren batman then again society is
00:06:59.520 infested with men their penises still attached claiming to be chicks and to call bs on that scam is
00:07:08.240 tantamount to committing a hate crime in canada these days predictably judge chamberlain delivered
00:07:16.000 a sanctimonious sermon for everyone in the courtroom to hear here goes quote it is not unusual for
00:07:23.360 indigenous people who have struggled under the yoke of colonialism in this country and its intergenerational
00:07:32.640 impact to have lost connections to their roots and community further markers of the effects of
00:07:39.760 intergenerational trauma including poverty familial addiction struggles with education and mental health
00:07:47.840 and over representation within the criminal justice and child welfare system are often present when
00:07:55.680 indigenous identity is confirmed ah again with the colonialism and sorry to be such a nitpicker here
00:08:05.520 folks but i want to remind everyone including judge chamberlain himself that williams could not confirm
00:08:13.200 that he was indigenous but again never mind still when did courtrooms turn into classrooms teaching revisionist
00:08:22.960 history i thought a court of law was all about evidence and facts apparently not these days it's about how you
00:08:30.960 feel i guess indeed based on the lloyd williams case if you're a black crack dealer with nine kids all you have to
00:08:41.200 say is i'm a mic mac pinky swear and that's good enough well at least it's good enough for judge chamberlain
00:08:49.280 because chamberlain also had this to say quote williams deserves consideration for the reduced moral
00:08:56.560 blameworthiness associated with these challenges end quote again i'm somewhat unclear what the judge is
00:09:05.520 saying here regarding those challenges is williams challenged because he is black is he challenged because
00:09:13.920 he is indigenous well maybe is he challenged because he has a fast pace and high stress career as a crack
00:09:22.240 cocaine dealer or maybe his challenge results in juggling the schedules of all those nine kids he has
00:09:30.480 you know getting getting them all to soccer and hockey practice and whatnot forget about a minivan i hope williams
00:09:37.440 have access to a minibus assuming that the guy has a driver's license that is the lawyer for williams argued
00:09:45.200 quote there are two legal considerations that should mitigate his sentence bringing it down to an upper
00:09:53.120 reformatory range namely the impact and harm a lengthy prison sentence will have on his family and secondly
00:10:02.880 that mr williams is addicted to the very drugs he sells and as an addict trafficker he is entitled to
00:10:12.560 significant mitigation end quote folks i'm not making this up are we living in the bizarro superman world
00:10:20.720 in which irresponsibility and criminality are rewarded not condemned and by all accounts the attorney for mr
00:10:31.520 williams delivered this statement with a straight face consider that williams is not only a drug dealer
00:10:40.320 but a drug addict too yet that's exactly the sort of father i want to see heading up a household
00:10:47.680 with nine young children in any event chamberlain sentenced williams who shockers already has a long
00:10:56.480 criminal history from criminal history to just four and a half years in prison which means by my
00:11:01.280 calculation he'll be out of the joint in about two years oh i would be negligent if i did not report
00:11:10.320 that in 2021 and in 2024 part of that long criminal record entailed williams being convicted of serious
00:11:20.320 domestic assault charges including assault by choking forgive me for being a tad insensitive here but
00:11:30.400 can we cut to the chase which is to say why wasn't this reprobate not occupying a prison cell going back
00:11:39.360 to the odious crime he committed in 2021 or in 2024 yet the judge recognized quote that his further
00:11:49.120 incarceration will have a negative impact on williams family end quote um i have a headache right now or
00:11:57.280 is my brain melting given that williams has this nasty little habit of committing physical domestic
00:12:05.360 assault including you know choking i would argue that williams being separated from his several spouses
00:12:14.160 and several children would be a very positive thing indeed but no in any event what have we learned
00:12:23.520 here regarding the odious case of lloyd williams well i think it is this should one ever end up in a
00:12:30.640 criminal court you might just want to play the race card especially since these days you apparently do not
00:12:39.280 have to actually prove that you are racialized also claim that you're addicted to illegal substances
00:12:48.720 and make sure you have multiple dependents or at least you know say you do and presto if you have
00:12:56.480 someone like chamberlain on the bench you will most likely get a reduced sentence by the way the williams case
00:13:04.240 is by no means a one-off the unholy trinity of diversity equity and inclusion has been embraced
00:13:13.600 in other court decisions of late here's a headline from december 9th 2025 quote inuit man gets reduced
00:13:22.080 sentence for attempted murder due to his indigenous status and mental illness end quote and here's another
00:13:31.120 whopper headline from january 3rd 2025 quote prison sentence cut in half for men who identifies as metis
00:13:40.960 end quote and again folks the devil is in the details isn't it the sentence reduction was due to a man
00:13:48.800 identifying as metis which means he might not actually be metis by the way i'm currently identifying as
00:13:59.120 miss america where's my bouquet but seriously folks in the final analysis isn't giving racialized
00:14:05.840 offenders i.e non-white people i get out of jail free card inherently racist which is to say the
00:14:14.320 underlining mindset seems to be because you are black or brown or indigenous or etc etc etc then society
00:14:25.360 can't possibly hold you to the same standard as caucasians i believe this is what's called the
00:14:34.240 racism of low expectations and when you think about it that's really just another form of bigotry
00:14:42.400 bottom line this idea of race and indigenous status being used as a means of gaming the system to get a
00:14:50.800 reduced prison sentence even when caught committing a very serious crime is both despicable and disturbing
00:15:02.720 wokeness and political correctness and dei has no place in a court of law but in canada this appears to
00:15:12.000 be increasingly par for the course this nonsense has to end judges should not be biased due to identity
00:15:22.160 politics finally allow me to harken back to that iconic rendering of lady justice as previously noted
00:15:30.800 she dons a blindfold to guarantee that justice is administered without fear favor or bias regarding wealth
00:15:40.160 power or status alas as the saying goes that was then and this is now because in 2026 canada
00:15:48.400 lady justice isn't wearing a blindfold anymore rather she's sporting a pair of x-ray glasses
00:15:57.040 hi everyone i'm alexa lavoix with rebel news and today we are tackling a topic that's steering
00:16:09.440 debate once more in quebec the real prospect of another sovereignty referendum the party quebecois is
00:16:18.240 leading in the polls heading to the next provincial election keeping the independence question alive in
00:16:25.760 many minds yet support for actually voting yes to sovereignty remains low recent surveys show it
00:16:35.120 dipping as low as 30 percent with clear majorities still firmly opposed what makes this conversation
00:16:44.560 especially compelling we are examining the growing alberta independence movement through a pure quebec lens
00:16:54.160 and doing it with a guest who is a committed quebec sovereignist but one who rejects the current path
00:17:02.160 being pushed by the party quebecois joining me is joe aubay podcaster and sharp voice on the yanni frank
00:17:10.640 podcast delivering straight shooting takes on politics and economics now let's listen what he have to say
00:17:18.880 so joe you are outspoken conservative and you defend your ideas notably through the podcast yanni frank
00:17:28.880 how do you see the upcoming election especially with two new party leaders who seems to turn into a center
00:17:39.120 right yeah center right is pretty much the new like virtue signaling buzzword politically speaking in quebec
00:17:47.520 these last few months uh which doesn't mean anything anymore it's no longer like a political uh
00:17:53.920 specification so to speak uh it's like racism or um phobia of any kind or racist the it's it's become
00:18:03.520 part of this category pretty much now the only qualification for being center-right is being
00:18:08.880 anything but quebec solidaire which is the really like really left-leaning political party here in quebec
00:18:14.160 for the next election uh provincial election in quebec i'll say everything is possible at this
00:18:18.880 point and and that's what's actually uh both funny and at at the same time exciting about it
00:18:26.320 because we always say like politics is a two-edged two-edged blade you have the negative and the
00:18:30.800 positive but right now everything is possible we know that charles milliard is going to be crown uh
00:18:36.000 leader of the plq uh because mario roi the other candidate doesn't seem to uh finish his death from the
00:18:42.880 last campaign so he probably won't be able to run even if he really really really wants to
00:18:47.680 he's almost begging to do it actually it's kind of depressing on the party quebecois we have paul
00:18:52.400 which is well implemented is technically the oldest leader so far in terms of uh of mandate
00:18:58.160 inside his own party so that's going to be him uh eric duham with the power of the quebec conservative
00:19:02.720 party is going to be there obviously he's going to change we're not going to change leadership before
00:19:06.640 the election as part for the cac the coalition of quebec the the living government uh it all depends
00:19:12.240 we have christine freshet and uh bernard rainville and i say from both perspectives we have two
00:19:18.800 different visions i think even is monsieur drainville has pretty much copy paste the entire program from
00:19:24.640 the pcq uh the last weekend even though he's always been like an out outspoken uh social social
00:19:32.080 democrat left-leaning uh quebec politician now he's supposedly center-right and he does a huge
00:19:40.400 critic of the model quebecois of the provident states in the nanny states of quebec he wants to
00:19:45.600 challenge the the high instances of the unions he wants to get more private in health care uh he wants
00:19:51.680 we also make get maybe like more private sector and more private color uh collaboration uh uh within
00:19:57.520 public school public school system and stuff like stuff like that i hope not a lot of people believe
00:20:03.360 him since i prefer someone who's always had those ideas from the beginning it's always been like part
00:20:08.880 of their true conviction instead of someone who just changed the ideas because you understand which way
00:20:13.840 the wind turn and the wind is blowing so yeah we'll see and from christian from christine freshet
00:20:20.080 perspective she's definitely from the outspoken conservative commentators she's most certainly the
00:20:25.120 establishment candidate uh martin koskinen the former uh chef de cabinet cabinet secretary of
00:20:30.160 francois premier francois legault uh she he has his full support and more for and so far
00:20:37.280 she has more nps to her side than for than bernard rainville uh of course the the the members will
00:20:42.880 have to vote so we'll see she seems like to be a more corporatist beige you know like gray like
00:20:50.160 establishment candidate like i'm not against i'm not in favor i'm in between you know what i'm saying
00:20:55.120 and bernard rainville seems to have a more approach of a center-right approach with maybe
00:21:00.480 like a touch of that of quebec like nationalism from his uh pq pass so we'll see but one of my
00:21:06.720 questions is how do you explain the fact that the pq is mainly leading in the polls um their first promise
00:21:15.200 is to lead a referendum on quebec sovereignty but when we look at the poll for a potential referendum
00:21:24.080 and the appetite of the people is as low as what 30 percent how do you explain that i i mean for
00:21:31.920 almost three almost three years now the pq has been like kind of a vote refuge for many quebec uh quebec
00:21:37.440 electors uh mainly mainly like a parking spot because of the the really down in the polls and the
00:21:44.240 cac like the appreciate the appreciation of the legal government has been uh down spirals since the
00:21:49.280 end of the pandemic you went from the most like uh premier provincial premier in the country to
00:21:54.960 almost the lowest ones uh right now and it seems to be more of a grudge like anti-logo vote so they
00:22:02.160 looked at the other parties and since the the the quebec liberal party has been mostly reduced to
00:22:09.680 montreal centric english community party with almost no vote and almost no count and no
00:22:16.160 circumscription uh from the francophone vote the the electorate was who went from the cac in 2018 and
00:22:25.120 in 2022 now goes back to their whole habits which is the blue against the red so it's the
00:22:31.360 that's quebecois which has a very charismatic leader in a talented in a talented one i won't uh i
00:22:37.440 won't say the otherwise for paul saint-pierre plamondon but at the same time i think the quebec the
00:22:42.320 the quebec people i mean quebec electorate a part of it at least doesn't truly understand what a vote
00:22:48.320 for the pq is their main logic is yeah we'll vote for him to get rid of logo and govern quebec but if
00:22:55.280 he pulls up his referendum on sovereignty we'll just vote against it yes but you you could do that but at
00:23:02.800 the same time there's consequences by saying no a third time like in 1980 we uh we got the the
00:23:09.360 constitution in canada brought back from england and we and they signed and pierre trudeau justin's
00:23:14.240 father uh signed it without quebec's signature in 1995 uh after the last almost almost the win of
00:23:21.520 quebec in 1995 we got the the the law for referendum clarity and quebec lost a lot of power on the in
00:23:29.120 these following years and it's been like even culturally like inside the people there's been
00:23:33.440 like a scar that never truly healed for us after that after that time and now it's like opening the
00:23:39.680 scars all over again open opening the wound and let it fester for another time just for old time's sake
00:23:45.680 and to be fair i'm not against the the idea of independence as principle i'm consider myself some
00:23:54.000 one of the right-wing person economically i think the ultimate expression of freedom of liberty my which
00:24:02.000 is my principal value is the emancipation of one's people to independence pretty much but right now
00:24:08.480 especially since the cac government government came along we have a deficit of almost like 14 billion
00:24:13.440 in debt uh the the cost of life is especially not only in quebec but also across canada the housing
00:24:19.040 market has been a total nightmare for new for young people from my age and from the younger generation
00:24:23.920 to actually afford a home and there's like a a generational clash between two generations the baby
00:24:30.880 boomers mostly 60 years plus and i'm not saying every one of the baby boomers like mostly if you
00:24:37.200 watch it if you see the statistics but most of them seem to have a great time they don't think like
00:24:42.320 contrary to what for example pierre probably have said that currently that canada is broken
00:24:46.880 because of course their house value has increased like four five six to seven times in the last couple
00:24:51.680 of years but the down effect from this is of course the young people can't only afford a home
00:24:56.800 so now there's young people who want a more conservative uh leaning government more fiscally
00:25:01.760 responsible and the baby boomers more want more security want more laws want more restrictions they
00:25:07.520 are afraid of trump fear has engulfed them from in many cases that's why they re-elected mark
00:25:11.760 they elected mark carney and gave the liberals in ottawa a fifth mandate consecutive consecutively
00:25:18.720 so yeah we'll see and pretty much for the next election i'll say everything is possible including
00:25:23.920 referendum but at the same time yeah they need to think twice before even thinking voting for the
00:25:29.120 pq because you say it yourself you are the kind of person that you will want quebec to be a country
00:25:37.520 but you're not adhering to the vision of the pq at this moment yeah because i mean i'm not the only one
00:25:45.920 uh there's other or sovereignists or independentists at art at heart that the approach of the referendum
00:25:53.360 has never been uh has always been the the only uh possibility some of them will just make a
00:25:59.440 uh a unification like an independence declaration and wait for the uh the backing up from france and
00:26:05.040 other countries something like that some will mean a total vote some wants other methods and also because
00:26:12.000 the quote-unquote coalition that the party québécois says he wants to create doesn't seem to be quite a coalition
00:26:19.360 pretty much of course there's been a lot more uh i don't know what's the word in english
00:26:25.360 there's been like some kind of trend to be of course the independence seems to be more i mean
00:26:30.800 from the media's perspective it seems to be more on the rise but from the statistic it doesn't move
00:26:35.120 like there's not like a huge amount maybe like a slight increase in young people's vote in favor of
00:26:39.200 sovereignty but at the same time we don't see it quite enough in the perspective and from the party
00:26:44.720 quebecois perspective uh in terms of coalition they say like they want to unite people from the
00:26:49.680 right people from the left people at the center to unite to get to for the only one goal which is
00:26:54.640 independence but so far even them they were the first to start this center i'm center right kind
00:27:01.040 of mentality with alex bossono which was their candidate in the by-election of artabasco l'érable
00:27:06.240 which was a former uh far left activist who uh went to the summit is america in almost 20 years ago
00:27:16.400 and got arrested he didn't kill anybody uh but he passed some time in prison at least in detention
00:27:22.320 and was uh complotting to pretty much like bridge the the the perimeter in that conference and maybe
00:27:28.720 like a protest and attack some people of course that didn't happen and we're pretty glad for that
00:27:33.280 but at the same time he said he's changed he said he's now center right but every time you heard him
00:27:37.920 speak he's always have this kind of left-leaning tangent about him he's quoting like from the iris
00:27:44.640 which is like a a left-wing economic think tank from montreal he's been like there's like several
00:27:50.560 like media posts for many years from like seven to ten years ago which was apparently making his
00:27:56.640 change from left from far left to center which was like defending the hugo chavez government in
00:28:02.160 venezuela he was praising fidel castro when he died so there's a lot of questions to understand
00:28:07.520 to understand if someone is central central left or center right or whatever there's a political
00:28:11.920 encompass for it but for now we just need to take their words at face value and don't ask any questions
00:28:17.200 and that's a real problem and for now and every so far every because for those who don't know there's
00:28:22.560 been several by-election like a record number in the last couple of years in quebec there's been in
00:28:27.520 in terbonne there's now right now in chicoutimi there's there's been one i said in artabasca there's
00:28:32.000 been one in jantalon in quebec city and almost all uh the the candidate that the partis québécois
00:28:39.760 put it there for their election and they won all of them so far has been mostly social democrat
00:28:46.080 left-wing people mostly maybe they're more right it's like in france with the with the
00:28:51.040 for with the the rassemblement national maybe they're more uh right right leaning in terms of
00:28:56.320 social policies more on the national nationalistic side perhaps and i will not be i will not think
00:29:02.400 otherwise but globally speaking there's classic pq social democrat left-eating like quebec
00:29:11.280 interventionism to interventionist people so in terms of coalition of truly right-wing or economically
00:29:17.360 right-wing people i'm still waiting to see and it's not because you are critics about immigration
00:29:23.600 that make you automatically a right-wing or center right yeah for some media it is for some media
00:29:30.000 whatever you can be left-wing for all the other subjects socially economically and everything but
00:29:35.040 if you criticize immigration numbers or if you say for example systemic racism doesn't exist then
00:29:40.400 you're automatically right-wing which is preposterous to me so quebec when quebec wants to push
00:29:47.280 for independence generally it's accepted and normalized but what we are seeing with alberta
00:29:54.560 now we are seeing people um labeling them as extremists and far rights and some of them are
00:30:02.160 saying that there is some foreign money being involved or foreign help um why we are seeing such a
00:30:10.160 double standard there i mean that river you know better than me alex said that that's that's the freedom
00:30:16.000 convoy method right there like when when they came in they called them extremists they called them
00:30:21.280 conspiracy theorists they they talk about like aid from the united states aid from russia and foreign
00:30:26.880 sources and everything and they thought they had they brought weapons and stuff like that and that's the
00:30:33.680 same method that's being happening all over again and i think they they along they're launching all the
00:30:39.760 the they're pointing all the their arteries to the separatist movement in alberta because contrary to quebec even though
00:30:45.760 it would be a great loss the money is in alberta alberta is the money machine of the country
00:30:50.560 if alberta leaves canada is pretty much done from alberta's perspective first of all you seem to be
00:30:56.000 more uh it seems to be more easy from your part because you have money in your pockets and you have like
00:31:00.880 a huge uh leverage uh in in that term and also you want to do it mostly for economic reason and
00:31:07.040 freedom of freedom of enterprise freedom of expression protect your laws and your way of life
00:31:11.920 life and quebec is the same thing but it's more of a cultural reason because of course because of
00:31:16.880 the periculation and the the the payments received from the other provinces we've always been
00:31:22.640 kind of a lower we have resources we have the potential i think my my people have a great potential
00:31:27.520 to become one of the richest countries in north america but at the same time right now we being beggars
00:31:33.040 for many many years from the other provinces to give us extra money from the federal government
00:31:36.880 from the other provinces as well so for us it's more of a cultural issue in terms of our own
00:31:41.280 language our own unique culture that we want to protect we want to protect and we want to
00:31:46.240 pretty much keep safe and that's totally fine you know i totally agree with that but at the same time
00:31:53.360 people people don't most people because like since the the earlier uh debates around sovereignty
00:32:00.880 it always been like two camps the yes and the no's like the blues versus the reds but at the same time
00:32:06.000 now it's more it's more nuanced and uh we're pretty much i don't want to make a joke but more like in
00:32:10.640 the 50 shades of gray kind of thing you know like uh there's people who would want to say yes but at the
00:32:17.360 same time they don't trust people anymore not just the party quebecois but the entire political class
00:32:22.240 entirely and they saw what's happening in quebec economically and they don't trust the government
00:32:28.160 even though independence will give us more freedom in many aspects but at the same time more
00:32:32.400 responsibilities and since the government of quebec no even otherwise it has its own problems
00:32:38.000 they have uh have too many more uh bureaucrats they have taxes too much the multiculturalism the
00:32:44.720 wokeness and stuff i'm all against it and most most quebecers but at the same time the quebec
00:32:50.080 government that got his own problem in terms of ultra centralizations the state have an answer for
00:32:56.320 everything and needs to put their hand on almost everything from uh electricity production to the
00:33:02.400 selling of alcohol and selling of marijuana and the the the day the daycare of our of our youth and
00:33:10.080 our elderly people and many times it's monopolies it's something like a liberalized market so for many
00:33:16.080 of them it's like okay if we separate even though we'll be free but at the same time we will be will
00:33:21.040 it be the freedom for the for the quebec government to do now everything they want because uh grandpa
00:33:26.880 federal is no longer there to stop them or it will be a real freedom from the quebec people itself
00:33:32.480 and that's the real question i think and that's the there's a huge huge question mark for many
00:33:36.880 people that are not really sure because they think pretty much we'll be jailed with our own jailers
00:33:42.720 in many cases in terms of government in terms of governments if we became independent of course at the
00:33:48.080 the same time if i take um an argument from my great friend economist vincent geloso which is a
00:33:55.120 senior economist at the montreal economic institute and is also economy professor at george mason
00:33:59.680 university in virginia uh said that he's also a a sovereignist but i said at the same time one of
00:34:06.640 his great argument is that because of independence because of the new weight of responsibilities that the
00:34:12.320 government of quebec will have to do in terms of the budget because of the part of this debt that will
00:34:16.960 inherit from the from canada because of its independence the new programs the new uh the
00:34:22.080 frontier the army and all the foreign relation and everything uh even the most centralized or left
00:34:30.080 leaning centralized government in place will have no choice but to cut deeply um heavier melee style
00:34:37.840 chainsaw afwera kind of style uh cuts to maintain the government's in of itself for not
00:34:44.160 for not for nothing to collapse pretty much so it could the independence could force massive cut
00:34:50.320 and uh grow going back to uh a more uh center in terms of governance layer more less centralized
00:34:58.880 more decentralization more private sector and more liberalized economy so that's the that's the bet
00:35:05.360 some people trust it some don't some are in between so yeah that's pretty complicated
00:35:09.520 i want to hear your thoughts on alberta separatism and as well like the possible impact that this
00:35:18.880 movement can have on quebec well as i'm going to repeat a little bit what i said in french but the
00:35:24.320 you know we see that the separatist movement in quebec and in alberta goes up when we have a
00:35:29.920 centralist party in ottawa and that's the problem right now with the federal liberals every time you
00:35:34.880 have a liberal government in ottawa and especially when they're you know very close to the ndp they're
00:35:40.080 both centralist parties that are feeding the separatist movement in quebec and in alberta the
00:35:44.960 best way to make sure we have a united canada is to decentralize is to listen to people like danielle
00:35:50.480 smith the alberta's premier and to and the quebec conservatives and it's to have you know a very
00:35:55.600 decentralized agenda for our provinces and our regions do you think that quebec should prepare for
00:36:02.480 potential impacts seeming from alberta separation because we have a lot of social program and we
00:36:12.960 need the equalization money in order to pay those program uh even though alberta is not separating
00:36:23.840 there will be an impact because they will have a leverage to deal with the the equalization payment
00:36:30.960 do you think quebec should prepare this themselves yes but at the same time i mean everything could
00:36:36.720 happen pretty much it could be the the referendum could go major majorly yes or majorly no at both
00:36:43.600 times i think it could give some leverage daniel smith to get some concession from ottawa depending on
00:36:48.240 what's happening with the pipeline maybe like more sovereignty laws and no pushback from certain
00:36:53.200 federal programs perhaps but uh yeah i think it's the best thing to do for quebec but at the same time
00:36:59.840 i don't think we have our eyes on the uh on what's in front of us right now we are too occupied with
00:37:07.120 what's happening with our own elections we we have what many call us the dome around our own province
00:37:12.800 sometimes uh except when ottawa is speaking to us or to trump mostly news the rest seems to be
00:37:18.800 probably much irrelevant to our own mainstream media so even the quebec people uh except those who
00:37:24.160 who inform themselves inside uh out of like alternative media or podcasts like mine or media
00:37:30.640 like yours they don't get the full picture and that's such a shame uh the best the best idea should
00:37:37.200 probably prepare but at the same time there's like a huge amount of of pretty much unknown that's in
00:37:43.760 front of us so we can prepare for the worst or the best but at the same time you know
00:37:48.960 uh pretty much everything could happen so yeah
00:38:01.200 well folks on groundhog day cameraman lincoln jay and i ventured up to wingham ontario we were
00:38:06.560 there to attend a council meeting put on by the township of north huron and uh well the reason is
00:38:16.400 talk about censorious thuggery this council will not allow its proceedings to be videotaped or even
00:38:28.320 allow for audio taping and the question arises why this is a public council meeting taking place
00:38:37.280 in the dominion of canada not the democratic people's republic of korea so what gives well uh
00:38:45.440 as expected tons of feedback as a result of that video which saw two constituents buck and brad
00:38:53.040 actually frog marched out of the council meeting by the ontario provincial police it was crazy
00:39:00.800 some of the letters include dustbagger writes one of the most corrupt areas of ontario i was there for
00:39:08.640 a couple of years and it's atrocious well i gotta be honest we were only there for a couple of hours
00:39:15.040 but what we saw we did not like at the end of the day what this council is doing is unconstitutional
00:39:24.720 i suggest they drop the no recording bylaw but they probably won't so i guess they're going to have
00:39:32.640 to learn the hard way in a court of law evelyn gott 2056 writes these town councillors seem to forget
00:39:42.240 who they are working for and who is paying their salaries and perks oh i totally agree and really
00:39:50.160 if there's nothing to hide in these council meetings why ban recording it makes no sense unless of course
00:39:59.600 there is something to hide and finally richard b 1280 writes the marxist land acknowledgement speak
00:40:08.400 volumes over the past few years several of the wingham councillors seem to have been involved in
00:40:14.400 some highly questionable business dealings and they should be investigated for that also why do so many
00:40:22.400 people in this country continually vote for trashy politicians well i can't speak to your first point
00:40:31.840 but as for why people continually vote for the worst of the worst i would say um a lack of engagement
00:40:41.120 in the political process maybe they're spending too much time watching netflix and not enough time
00:40:47.440 uh investigating the news and by investigating the news i don't mean taking your news from the
00:40:54.320 mainstream media the bought and paid for trained seals at cbc ctv global etc i mean independent media
00:41:04.560 that's the only answer i have because it makes no sense for uh to me to continually reward
00:41:13.360 bad behavior well folks that wraps up tonight's show of the ezreal event show thank you so much for
00:41:19.600 tuning in ezreal will be back tomorrow in the meantime as always stay safe and stay sane
