Rebel News Podcast - EZRA LEVANT ｜ Toronto Police attempted to shut down Rebel News Live over... public safety concerns？

00:00:00.000 tonight why did the toronto police service try to kill our rebel news live event well folks we're

00:00:22.140 in possession of documents from a freedom of information request you are not going to believe

00:00:27.960 your ears it's scandalous it's tuesday march 18th 2025 i'm david menzies and this is the ezra lavent show

00:00:38.520 shame on you you sensorious bug 0.91

00:00:44.820 you may recall our rebel news live event that took place 0.91

00:00:57.420 last may in fact perhaps some of you viewing this video were in attendance that day the event

00:01:04.400 featured an all-star cast of speakers including donald trump jr viva fray billboard chris glenn

00:01:12.160 greenwald chris pavlosky april hutchinson and many more indeed talk about avengers assemble and it was

00:01:20.840 all in an effort to deliver a message to the justin trudeau liberals that canadian censorship

00:01:27.100 has gone too far and yes the world is watching our gala quickly sold out and as far as i could tell

00:01:35.740 all 400 attendees had a jolly good time but you know the story behind the story of putting on

00:01:43.720 the rebel news live event is perhaps even more noteworthy than what actually took place on stage

00:01:51.320 that day the crux of the matter is this law enforcement and government agencies were doing

00:01:58.840 everything they could to censor our event by shutting it down you heard correctly the forces that be wanted

00:02:07.680 to censor a free speech event in fact they wanted to cancel it outright here's the skinny the venue

00:02:15.800 hosting our rebel news live event was situated in downsview park in northwest toronto downsview park

00:02:23.800 is a former military base it's now a multi-use facility operated by canada lands which is a federal

00:02:32.000 crown corporation now this was problematic for the justin trudeau liberals whose hatred for rebel news

00:02:40.300 is nothing short of visceral we can't get into their press conferences we're banned from the house of

00:02:47.460 commons heck even asking a cabinet minister an impolite question on a public sidewalk can lead to the false

00:02:55.580 arrest of a rebel news reporter with a little assault thrown in on the side of course the point is the

00:03:03.020 justin trudeau liberals loathe rebel news almost as much as they hate democracy because unlike the trained

00:03:11.420 seals in the mainstream media we are not bought and paid for so it was downright galling to the liberals that we

00:03:22.080 would host a free speech event on a plot of land they considered to be their home turf they really are that

00:03:30.040 petty they sure got creative in their censorious ways canada lands informed us we had to pony up

00:03:38.800 fifty thousand dollars so that several armed police officers could be hired for security reasons

00:03:47.700 security reasons what's that about we were hosting a forum regarding free speech and censorship

00:03:54.800 how was this a public safety issue that fifty thousand dollar extortion fee was a potential

00:04:02.840 economic death penalty our event was not going to generate that kind of coin and for us to squander it

00:04:10.800 on unneeded security it would kill the rebel news live event and canada lands was likely fully aware of

00:04:19.200 this they really didn't care about the moolah they just wanted us to go away oh and by the way if there were

00:04:28.320 truly any credible threats of violence that might have occurred that day and trust me nothing materialized not

00:04:36.960 even an illegally parked car since when does a venue have to pay the police to enforce the law

00:04:46.160 don't the police already get paid nicely for that for example last time i checked there's always a big police

00:04:52.320 presence at bathers and shepherd in toronto every sunday morning that's where the pro hamas

00:04:58.320 hooligans chant for genocide display swastikas and honor sinwar the october 7th massacre mastermind

00:05:08.000 they desperately want a confrontation by goading the pro-israel people across the street in this 0.53

00:05:14.400 heavily jewish area but are the assorted hamassholes ever invoiced by the police are you kidding me 1.00

00:05:22.160 on cold days the boys in blue reimagine themselves as uber eats drivers to deliver the islamist coffee 0.97

00:05:29.040 and timbits then again hamas runs the hogtown cob shop these days not that our pathetic police chief 0.94

00:05:37.440 myron semku gives a rodent's rectum anyway thank goodness that our friends at rumble decided to foot 0.94

00:05:46.400 that outrageous policing bill so that the show would indeed go on that's how committed rumble is to 0.73

00:05:54.720 free speech by the way and much to the shock and surprise of the goons at canada lands we called their

00:06:02.560 bluff paid their extortion and the show was back on the rails but you know what in the aftermath of our

00:06:10.720 conference it turns out that the attempt to torpedo our event was far worse than we could ever have

00:06:19.280 imagined here's the deal folks we filed a freedom of information request seeking documents from the

00:06:25.760 toronto police service to find out why a little freedom of speech conference was deemed to be such a

00:06:32.160 clear and present danger in the first place it took months to get the relevant documents but we got them

00:06:39.600 some 100 pages par for the course much of the information is redacted but what is readable is equal

00:06:49.200 parts weird and disturbing and talk about a climate of fear loathing and paranoia like a chapter lifted

00:06:59.840 from orwell's 1984 for starters the ringleader behind the campaign to cripple our event is melody carroll

00:07:09.280 she's the so-called community relations officer at 31 division she comes across as officer friendly in her

00:07:17.920 correspondence often using nicknames when addressing colleagues but behind the smiles and pleasantries

00:07:26.000 she's really a censorious thug oh and what a busy bee she was in the days leading up to our event 1.00

00:07:33.040 in addition to several police officers melody also reached out to the toronto fire department and 0.64

00:07:40.320 paramedics she even reached out to another police force what did melody think was going to happen that day

00:07:49.200 a full-on riot if so who would the writers be writing against themselves it's baffling

00:07:58.880 melody certainly has a warped opinion of our company she describes rebel news as quote a canadian far 0.98

00:08:06.240 right political and social commentary web-based media organization end quote she also describes us as a

00:08:14.640 quote far right extremist group end quote uh extremist group really isn't that a synonym for a terrorist

00:08:23.040 organization these days unbelievable by the way just what constitutes being far right in the first place

00:08:33.040 of someone who espouses an opinion that is slightly to the right of mousy dung here's another weird 0.85

00:08:40.320 thing about melody and weird is the only descriptor i have you see she made sure to identify who's who in 0.99

00:08:48.720 the zoo sending out a very detailed list of all the speakers as well as the names of rebel news staffers

00:08:56.480 but here's the thing and folks i don't know whether i should feel honored or whether i should feel

00:09:02.480 really afraid but whenever melody references me my name is presented in bold-faced type

00:09:10.960 why would that be it's kind of like she's intimating that all the free thinkers at rebel

00:09:17.360 news live are dangerous but oh this menzies character watch out he's the most toxic of all 1.00

00:09:24.800 you know it seems so chummy down at the cop shop these days doesn't it i mean when melody refers to

00:09:30.640 another female officer she has the salutation of hey girl and then there's elephtheria dimitra 0.97

00:09:39.120 kupoulos she is of the york regional police service and when she refers to detective mark

00:09:47.120 furzacott of 31 division she calls him a furzy that's right furzy i suppose furzy is 0.99

00:09:54.480 his nickname much like fonzie was the nickname for arthur fonzarelli

00:10:03.520 gee do you think furzy wears a black leather jacket too anyway here's what fonzie or i mean

00:10:09.920 furzy stated about yours truly quote we are going to do our best to stay away from the antics of david

00:10:18.800 manzies end quote oh my god if only the police would do their best to stay away from me the

00:10:26.480 toronto police the rcmp the opp they arrested me five times last year alone for oh i don't know

00:10:34.880 asking impolite queries by the way there's a that's a very interesting word furzy uses wouldn't you say

00:10:42.480 antics the definition of antics is quote foolish outrageous or amusing behavior funny how i mean

00:10:51.520 funny like i'm a clown i amuse you in any event melody goes on to state the following quote also

00:10:57.600 let the tenants at 35 carl hall road know this is the venue building one a a pre-nursery school have been

00:11:07.600 notified of these events two drive tests have been notified of this event three al hool have been

00:11:15.760 notified of these event let york regional police know end quote okay grammatically incorrect but

00:11:24.720 you get the gist of what she's saying namely other businesses have been notified about

00:11:30.640 um what exactly again what did law enforcement think was going to happen that day that attendees

00:11:39.200 of our event would descend upon a nursery school and a drive test facility and do what exactly

00:11:46.960 furthermore why did melody think it was a good idea to get the york regional police service involved

00:11:53.040 after all downsview park is situated in toronto not york region what gives alas as i further delved into

00:12:03.280 the documents i came across the ostensible policy reason for requesting assistance from york regional

00:12:10.240 police and at this point folks our story goes from weird and creepy to downright disturbing you see being

00:12:18.560 the great detective that he is furzee somehow discovered that guests of the rebel news live event 0.95

00:12:26.000 were staying at the novotel hotel in vaughn which is indeed situated in york region and when york regional

00:12:34.800 police officer detective constable altheria demitra kupoulis received this information from furzee she could

00:12:44.160 barely contain her excitement as she sent a mass email out to several of her york region police

00:12:51.040 colleagues quote hey all four exclamation marks got this from tps just one exclamation mark see below

00:12:59.840 again just one exclamation mark by the way this officer is with the technical investigations unit slash

00:13:09.040 cyber crime section what the hell is going on did the cops think our guests were going to commit

00:13:16.720 cyber crimes or then again maybe it's the other way around which is to say did the york regional police

00:13:24.960 put our guests under surveillance if so for what reason is that where we are now in canada

00:13:33.760 if it is deemed that you are guilty of wrong thought gun toting big brother is watching you back to

00:13:43.680 melody in the department of all the king's horses and all the king's men she also reached out to the

00:13:50.080 alcohol and gaming commission of ontario me thinks she was searching for some legislative loophole 1.00

00:13:58.720 in the liquor license act maybe were we serving booze without having the necessary special occasion

00:14:07.120 permit perhaps well then that would give the cops an excuse to rush into the venue and shut it down

00:14:13.920 you know like they used to do during the speakeasy days when probation was a thing a century ago

00:14:20.480 in any event harley theakston of the agco informed melody that the only alcohol to be served that day

00:14:30.240 was beer and wine for the vip dinner on saturday night for approximately 75 guests in other words

00:14:38.320 everything was on the up and up i'm sure that information was met with poor melody exclaiming 0.99

00:14:45.520 curses foiled again and check out this rant from kimberly moser she her she's the manager of external 1.00

00:14:56.480 communications for toronto community housing and she chimes in with this quote background information

00:15:05.440 end quote regarding the event essentially she tries to cast rebel news and donald trump jr 0.73

00:15:12.960 in a very negative light but what's the deal with that toronto community housing is the largest social

00:15:21.440 housing provider in canada and the second largest in north america it is wholly owned by the city of

00:15:27.600 toronto and operates in a non-profit manner it represents some nine billion dollars in public assets so

00:15:36.800 riddle me this why in blue hell is kimberly moser she her getting involved in trying to torpedo 1.00

00:15:45.600 a free speech event well i reached out to miss moser she her and she actually did get back to me saying

00:15:53.840 her concern was the following quote because this event was located in close proximity to a tchc office

00:16:03.520 this information was provided as background to staff who could be affected by higher than normal

00:16:12.080 traffic or crowds in the area end quote oh i see she was concerned about trafficking crowds folks do you

00:16:20.160 know downsview park sits on a plot of land that is 291 acres and that our event featured only 400

00:16:32.880 attendees in the past downsview park has hosted rock concerts and the pope with crowds ranging from 500 000 to more than 800 000 people but

00:16:46.560 moser she her was allegedly fretting about a 400 person gathering seriously oh it gets worse

00:16:56.480 check out this email correspondence quote we need to have a game plan re our employees accessing and

00:17:04.480 leaving 35 carl hall if protest is not as peaceful as forecasted end quote oh wait a second what's this

00:17:15.520 about a protest is that ulrich's way of describing a rebel news live event that a free speech anti-censorship gala

00:17:26.400 is a protest or did he think that the likes of antifa would show up to protest our event it's not clear

00:17:36.160 what is clear is that miss moser she her is not being genuine when she states that toronto community housing

00:17:45.120 was simply concerned about traffic and crowd issues news flash for miss moser she her

00:17:53.200 your organization's bailiwick is trying to find subsidized housing for those in need there are more

00:18:01.840 than 100 000 people on a waiting list for subsidized housing in toronto i'm sure you've heard about this

00:18:09.760 little thing he called the housing crisis shouldn't that be your priority kindly show me where in your

00:18:17.840 six-figure taxpayer-funded job description that your agenda involves sabotaging a free speech event

00:18:27.760 i guess what i'm trying to say here miss moser she her or perhaps you're a them there these days who 0.97

00:18:33.600 knows what i'm trying to say is please adhere to the following words of advice courtesy of the rock

00:18:39.840 of course maybe i have things wrong so i reached out to some of the law enforcement officers involved

00:18:52.560 in operation rebel news or whatever it was called check out my very brief phone interview with melody

00:18:59.840 carroll hi this is pc carroll yes hi uh pc carroll how you doing there it's um david menzies calling from

00:19:06.800 rebel news and david i'm i i can't i can't talk to you right now um i received your email you have to

00:19:13.600 contact our corporate communications okay yeah they they don't they will not communicate with us and one

00:19:19.040 of the questions i had was i am just a police constable so you'll have to contact them okay

00:19:23.360 i'm so sorry but you were very you were very very active in you know trying to cancel our rebel news

00:19:30.320 life hello wow she almost sounds fearful i'm just a police constable no you're not you're a censorious 0.98

00:19:40.160 thug and you're a coward and now that you've been outed melody you are undoubtedly ashamed of yourself 0.99

00:19:47.280 now check out this reaction with fursie well i'm not sure if it is fursie the fellow on the other end 0.99

00:19:56.080 said his name was smith but i wasn't calling fursie's office line i was calling fursie's cell phone

00:20:03.200 number anyway check it out yes hello i'm looking for detective fursicott please yes it's uh david

00:20:12.160 menzies of rebel news how you doing there i will put you on hold and look for him thank you can i take

00:20:20.240 a message for him oh absolutely and sorry sir your name is smith oh okay uh yes mr smith uh this is

00:20:28.240 odd i don't know if i have the wrong number i i had this as um uh detective fursicott's uh cell number

00:20:34.880 no so m z's uh m-e-n-z-i-e-s and a number that you can be reached at yes uh 416

00:20:47.200 roger 8 0 7 8 3 1 8 i'm just curious sir why you would be in possession of the detective cell phone

00:20:56.400 numbers get moved around oh okay then should do you have a a new cell phone number i don't want to

00:21:05.520 bother you no what uh best if you reach him at an email address would be the best way to get a

00:21:12.720 indeed i did send him an email earlier today and i just wanted to confirm uh that he received it but

00:21:18.960 you're able to pass a message along to him i will do my best and uh being march break it could be that

00:21:26.720 he's not uh reading his emails right now oh okay then he could be off i i see well if you're able to

00:21:34.720 send him a text um or what have you um that would uh be most appreciated um is anyone buying that

00:21:44.800 i also reached out to sergeant ernst carmichael of the york regional police service

00:21:51.680 folks he's a real piece of work so i wanted to speak to sergeant carmichael and get clarity i've

00:21:59.840 left him a voicemail i've sent him an email the police officers on duty said he's on days off he

00:22:05.120 won't be back for another four days and in the meantime uh we'll just have to

00:22:11.520 await on a response i'm not hopeful of it also wanted to ask him about a little incident he was

00:22:18.240 involved in back in 2013 you see sergeant carmichael when he wasn't a sergeant he was charged and

00:22:26.720 convicted of beating a 63 year old richmond hill resident he actually kicked this man in the head

00:22:35.760 three times and what was the penalty for that well it was 12 months probation and 100 hours of community

00:22:44.960 service and here we are in 2025 officer carmichael is now sergeant carmichael you know it's kind of

00:22:52.400 like um officer bubbles in toronto uh he's a sergeant now too despite his abhorrent policing

00:23:00.480 greg dumichael of the rcmp he hasn't been penalized he hasn't been confined to desk duty 0.98

00:23:07.600 after his assault and false arrest of me going back a year ago naturally this bully slash coward 0.86

00:23:17.120 did not return my request for comment either but folks back to the attempted derailing of our rebel

00:23:23.440 news live event which is to say talk about much ado about nothing how many thousands of dollars worth

00:23:32.240 of policing went into this operation how many hours were needlessly squandered still the question arises if

00:23:41.600 the police were the puppets in this dark drama who were the puppet masters was a mayor olivia chow or 0.91

00:23:50.640 liberal mp yarra sax this self-hating jew by the way denounced our event on social media or was it premier

00:23:58.960 doug ford or was it the big kahuna himself justin trudeau or maybe it was all of the above

00:24:05.120 it's likely we will never find out the answer to that query after all our foi to get information

00:24:13.600 about the meeting trudeau had with chief demq last year was denied don't you find that odd especially

00:24:20.880 since the chief does not answer to the prime minister really why the lack of transparency

00:24:27.840 why the secrecy and the insult to injury is this the greater toronto area is experiencing

00:24:37.920 the greatest crime wave in its history and yet the powers that be thought that a little free speech

00:24:44.560 conference was a threat to security and public safety what were they thinking

00:24:57.840 hi david ezra here in carmen manitoba thanks very much for taking the chair for the ezra levant show

00:25:09.120 today so i could come out here with lincoln jay i'm standing in front of a church grace saint john's

00:25:14.960 anglican lutheran church and if you didn't look closely you'd say okay well the church looks fine but

00:25:21.680 it's actually completely torched glass has been replaced by plywood but it is a hollow shell the

00:25:30.080 floor is burnt away the roof is in danger of collapse this thing was a serious fire with 18

00:25:38.000 different firefighters brought in to to fight it and five pumpers it burnt for hours the arson happened

00:25:45.120 at around four in the a.m a couple of days ago today we observed as some cleanup crews worked on the

00:25:53.120 outside but really they confirmed to us that the whole thing has to be demolished all the way down

00:25:59.680 we did some streeters that is man on the street interviews around town and everyone is familiar

00:26:06.400 with this of course but people don't want to leap to conclusions the rcmp has publicly said that they

00:26:13.120 are treating this as a suspicious fire and i i i think that's a good sign that the police are taking

00:26:20.800 it seriously as far as that goes but there are i think two kinds of arson there's sort of random

00:26:27.280 arson an abandoned building and an old school like just an arson of opportunity and then there's a

00:26:34.080 politicized arson a kind of anti-christian terrorism why was this church targeted was it a random thing or was

00:26:42.960 it part of the national anti-christian crime wave that canada has been suffering for years that's

00:26:51.040 what we're out here in carmen manitoba to find we'll have a report at saveourchurches.ca i'll be

00:26:58.080 back in the chair in toronto in fact we're coming home tonight if anyone wants to help our little journey

00:27:03.200 out here go to saveourchurches.ca i'll see you in toronto tomorrow

00:27:14.400 who still blindly trust the mainstream media probably not you after all you are watching us

00:27:22.320 and you are already know that mainstream media can no longer be trust they may call themselves

00:27:30.080 trustworthy news sources but that too is a lie while pierre polyette recognized that mainstream

00:27:37.760 media simply parrots the liberal narrative and has pledged to defund the cbc are you saying that you

00:27:45.520 would step aside and not compete for the head of the country to allow us to get through this crisis

00:27:50.960 or i'm unclear about your answer to the last question well i'm i find it a strange question

00:27:56.720 to your cbc is asking me to step aside in the next election it's a very strange request there's a

00:28:02.960 suggestion we could save a billion dollars by defunding the cbc

00:28:06.320 the liberals are clinging to their propaganda machine heritage minister pascal saint-onge has

00:28:21.200 even proposed enshrining cbc radio canada's role as an official information source in law while nearly

00:28:30.320 doubling its funding on a per capita basis uh enshrined in law the role that cbc radio

00:28:36.240 canada plays in the fight in the fight against disinformation to support the public especially

00:28:40.880 in the current context and this refers directly to some of the recommendations that were made

00:28:46.960 by the foreign interference commission which repeated how important it is that canadians can

00:28:53.840 rely on canadian sources of information to be more resilient and to understand the patterns that the

00:28:59.760 other countries used to disseminate propaganda or disinformation to influence how we live together

00:29:07.200 in our political context and this is why i propose to anchor in cbc radio canada's mandate its role

00:29:16.320 in helping canadian the canadian population fight against disinformation and understand

00:29:22.720 fact-based information last year cbc radio canada received approximately 1.4 billion of dollars in

00:29:30.160 taxpayer funding according to its own annual report under the liberals proposal that number could jump

00:29:38.640 to 2.5 billion of dollars per year money taken directly from your pocket whether you watch it or not

00:29:47.840 one of cbc radio canada's contributors political commentator chantal hebert is regularly invited to speak on politics

00:29:57.040 she is also a speaker that talks about politics and democracy in the so-called fake news as she stated in her website

00:30:08.880 but here is the irony hebert herself has been caught spreading misinformation and when confronted about it she simply ignored the issue

00:30:21.280 let me explain when a journalist or commentator gets something wrong the responsible thing to do is correct the record

00:30:31.200 and acknowledge the mistake one recent example is when hebert claim by maintaining our tariff it's not

00:30:41.520 us who pay it's them this is categorically false tariff or taxes imposed on citizens of the country that applies them

00:30:57.120 a basic economic facts however let's assume she simply misspoke but then on february 21st during an 0.88

00:31:07.040 episode of cbc radio canada audio media info hebert falsely claimed that rebel news is campaigning for

00:31:50.560 représentant un média comme ça qui parlait français this was not a slip of a tongue this was deliberate

00:31:58.160 a blatant attempt to discredit and demonize us and it is completely false the event she

00:32:05.920 referenced was a press conference held by pierre poilier on february 20 out of 10 media outlets

00:32:12.560 present only five were allowed to ask questions on the floor starting with three

00:32:18.080 north uh hello mr paulia noah jarvis to north my media

00:32:25.200 uh hey uh this is you be from my media can you ask question question question question

00:32:29.280 question go ahead sir you have your opinion thank you this will be the final question from oxygen tv

00:32:41.600 those included why media oxygen tv true north ribbon news and radio canada

00:32:49.520 hebert described every outlet other than radio canada as being right to far right but let's break that

00:32:57.600 down because it's completely untrue true north center right mainly editorial why media an online

00:33:05.440 platform led by youth via jazz wall a journalist honored with king charles coronation medal he has

00:33:13.920 interviewed trudeau harper doug ford and multiple other liberal mp hardly the profile of a far-right outlet

00:33:24.000 in fact jazz wall was featured on cbc before according to his website oxygen tv a media outlet focused on

00:33:33.840 family and social political issues their editorial stance leans slightly to the right due to family values

00:33:43.360 but calling them far right is ridiculous revenues categorized by some as editorially conservative but

00:33:52.640 certainly not far right what's more why media and oxygen tv serve diverse immigrant communities these are

00:34:02.160 voices representing diaspora groups hardly a monolithic far-right presence meanwhile mainstream outlets like

00:34:11.840 global cbc ctv and canadian press were present at the event but were not among those called upon for

00:34:21.760 questions and prime asia as well so let's be clear hebert's claims that the press conference was dominated by

00:34:31.760 right to far-right media is completely false and her assertion that ribbon news is campaigning

00:34:39.840 for canada to become the 51st state of america also completely false i attempted to ask hebert why she made

00:34:48.080 these false claims about us watch how she reacted no apology no correction just a weird reaction

00:34:57.360 i just saw i just see uh madame chantelle hebert i don't know if you know her but she's a political 1.00

00:35:13.840 columnist in cbc and radio canada recently she spoke about us she spoke about ribbon news saying that we are

00:35:21.840 advocating for the 51st state what is actually totally wrong this is defamation and so it's why

00:35:28.560 i asked her the question why she actually say that about us and she seems not being interested let me

00:35:36.560 give you another example of intellectual dishonesty this time from radio canada in the report reviewing

00:35:44.000 the pandemic which was published last week on enquête the equivalent of the fifth estate they spoke

00:35:52.000 about conspiracy movements lumping them together with support of becoming the 51st state on screen they

00:36:01.360 showed ribbon news exposed what looked like to create a cognitive link between our media outlet and what

00:36:39.360 this is the reality of mainstream media in canada taxpayer-funded unaccountable and willing

00:36:46.320 to spread misinformation to push their narrative and they wonder why more and more canadians are turning them

00:36:54.800 out you can go over to our special website that is cbclies.com so it's a petition to request cbc to stop

00:37:07.280 lying to stop spreading disinformation and misinformation as they are doing often so you

00:37:14.400 can sign the petition and make your voice heard that if we are going to pay the cbc with our own tax

00:37:22.160 we want them to stop lying we want them to stop lying so go over cbclies.com
