00:01:23.180 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, ladies and gentlemen, and the rest of you,

00:01:36.740 in which we look back at some of the very best commentaries of the week by your favourite rebels.

00:01:41.400 I'm your host, David Menzies.

00:01:43.160 Well, that was quite the visit Kian Bextie had to Ottawa the other day,

00:01:48.800 encountering, oh, let's see now, a lying climate Barbie, a denying Elizabeth May, 0.99

00:01:54.040 and a CTV cameraman who had a hissy fit because Kian was shockers, maskless. 0.89

00:02:02.580 Kian will try to make sense of it all. 0.78

00:02:04.720 Wow, talk about the must-have fashion accessory for 2020 if you're just sick and tired of explaining to the Karens of the world that you are mask-exempt. 1.00

00:02:15.760 Yes, I'm talking about this little button that basically politely says,

00:02:20.840 back off, bucko.

00:02:22.720 The man behind this ingenious button, Ezra Bent, he will drop by to explain all.

00:02:27.900 And finally, letters, we get your letters, we get your letters every minute of every day,

00:02:32.400 and I'll share some of your responses regarding my visit to the latest Yahoo Nation protest on the lawns of Toronto's Queen's Park.

00:02:40.680 What made this protest extra special was the fact that it came just a day after tough new regulations and fines

00:02:48.660 were enacted by the province regarding social gatherings, which apparently include protests.

00:02:55.760 But the cops never showed up to enact the law, so the question arises,

00:03:00.880 is Premier Ford's bark worse than his bite?

00:03:04.160 Those are your rebels, now let's round them up.

00:03:11.500 Look at this.

00:03:13.180 It's a new button.

00:03:14.640 I am exempt.

00:03:16.680 And a friendly picture of a face mask.

00:03:19.000 And our website is on there, maskexemption.ca, that explains what it all means.

00:03:23.860 And you'll recall that a month ago or so, we produced thousands of cards like this, suitable for carrying around in your wallet.

00:03:31.280 We had two versions of the cards.

00:03:33.000 The first one that I used was a Toronto version, and on the back of the card,

00:03:37.460 it actually has the sections of the Toronto mask bylaw that explains the exemptions.

00:03:42.360 And importantly, that it's illegal for anyone to ask you to prove that you're exempt.

00:03:47.400 That's a pretty powerful exemption right there.

00:03:49.080 But there's so many different versions of mask bylaws in Canada, every uppity politician has their own version,

00:03:55.040 that we couldn't very practically make a different card with every town's exemptions printed on the back.

00:04:00.580 So we have a generic version of the card, and it simply directs you to our main website

00:04:05.340 that actually does have literally every single mask bylaw and every mask bylaw exemption in the whole country.

00:04:12.020 That's a lot of work to put together, by the way, and we hired a law firm to do it properly,

00:04:16.440 and we have our lawyer update it from time to time.

00:04:18.980 Now, we've totally sold out of our Toronto card.

00:04:21.560 I think we might have some of the generic cards left,

00:04:23.800 but we've made the artwork available for free on our website, so you can just print it yourself at home.

00:04:30.300 Now, these aren't official documents, these cards.

00:04:32.620 They're just a formal way of saying, I'm exempt, and to remind you where to find the law and the exemption.

00:04:37.240 I've used my exemption card with 100% success so far, especially in Toronto, where the bylaw exemption is so powerful.

00:04:43.880 But I was out one night, and I saw a young man with one of those name tag stickers,

00:04:49.000 you know, the ones that say, hello, my name is, and you just write your name on it in a marker,

00:04:52.360 and he had written on there, I'm exempt, or I'm exempt from masks, or something really informal, handwritten,

00:04:59.100 but it was large enough to be seen by me and everyone else about 10 feet away.

00:05:03.280 And where I was carrying my exemption card in my hand,

00:05:09.520 waiting for some scold or bureaucratic cop or bossy staff somewhere to accost me,

00:05:13.980 this guy was preempting all that with a friendly handwritten note on his t-shirt.

00:05:19.880 And it struck me that the cards that we use let the scolds and the bureaucrats and the muzzlers make the first move. 1.00

00:05:26.700 And then by that time, by the time they scold you, they're already on the offensive,

00:05:32.900 they've already decided to pick a fight with you, and you're immediately on the defensive.

00:05:37.760 That's stressful, that's unfun, and their own pride will probably make them fight you harder.

00:05:43.320 Whereas this kid, by putting it right on his chest, it was like a force field.

00:05:48.620 Everyone around him was put on notice that he was exempt, so any half-hearted scold, which is most of them,

00:05:54.080 or any scold that was uncertain about the mask law and its exemptions, which is most of them,

00:05:59.040 they would hopefully back off.

00:06:00.280 And if someone actually did come up to him and say, put on a muzzle,

00:06:03.340 they would probably be violating his exemption.

00:06:05.300 So he's a pretty smart kid, eh?

00:06:07.920 Well, I like the idea so much, we ordered these buttons.

00:06:10.960 They're like the mask exemption cards, except you wear them proactively, preemptively.

00:06:15.420 They're very simple and very friendly.

00:06:17.160 I am exempt.

00:06:18.340 And they have that useful website, maskexemption.ca, right on them, where all the exemptions are listed.

00:06:24.320 So you don't have to be worried.

00:06:25.540 You don't have to be reactive.

00:06:26.940 You don't have to let the scolds attack first before you defend. 1.00

00:06:30.300 You're not the one being socially awkward.

00:06:32.080 They are, by acting in defiance of your friendly button announcing you're exempt.

00:06:37.780 And seriously, it depends on the jurisdiction.

00:06:39.480 If anyone does demand you prove your exemption after you wear your button,

00:06:43.340 oh boy, they're breaking the law.

00:06:45.040 So get your exemption button now.

00:06:47.860 They're made in Canada.

00:06:49.580 I checked.

00:06:50.940 You can order them right there on maskexemption.ca.

00:06:54.320 They're $10 each.

00:06:55.580 Well, talk about necessity being the mother of invention.

00:06:58.960 Yes, you are indeed legally exempt from mask bylaws.

00:07:02.480 And no, you do not have to give a reason for the exemption.

00:07:06.500 Yet it's just so bothersome having to explain to everyone that you have an exemption, isn't it?

00:07:12.800 Hence, why not simply visually worn off the various prying Karens of the world by displaying this nifty little button? 1.00

00:07:21.260 Hey, as Carl Malden used to say regarding the American Express card, don't leave home without it.

00:07:27.300 And joining me now is the genius behind this button, our Commander-in-Chief Ezra Levin.

00:07:34.580 Ezra, I would say this is the must-have fashion accessory of 2020.

00:07:40.020 Yeah, you know, we have the little cards, the wallet-sized card.

00:07:44.300 Right.

00:07:44.520 And the bylaw you just referred to where it's illegal to ask people to prove their exemption, that's a Toronto bylaw exemption.

00:07:52.580 I want to tell people that there's about 20 different bylaws in Canada.

00:07:57.780 So go to maskexemption.ca to read the one appropriate to your jurisdiction.

00:08:02.300 But generally, asking someone to prove an exemption would be like asking someone in a wheelchair to prove they really can't use their legs.

00:08:11.680 Right.

00:08:11.920 It's an invasion of privacy, it's inappropriate, and it's actually against human rights legislation.

00:08:17.380 But the idea behind the button is that that card, which we sent out thousands of those cards, and we also made it free for people to print out on their own printer, those cards.

00:08:30.400 That's a reactive, defensive thing.

00:08:33.880 You've got to wait until someone says, hey, where's your mask?

00:08:36.940 And then you pull out the card.

00:08:38.500 Whereas I was in Niagara Falls the other week, and I saw some young kid who had just written on like a, hi, my name is Mike.

00:08:46.640 He wrote, I'm exempt or something, just in the marker.

00:08:51.120 And my first reaction was almost like, huh, because it was just a homemade thing.

00:08:55.740 But I thought, no, no, no, that's brilliant, because it was big enough to be seen at some distance.

00:09:02.060 And it makes the first move, but you don't have to make the first move.

00:09:07.420 You don't have to say, I'm exempt, I'm exempt.

00:09:09.440 The button does the talking for you.

00:09:11.940 And so I think most of the people who would scold you, this would be like a force field, because they would say, oh, right, I forgot there are exemptions.

00:09:23.800 Or, oh, I don't know the rules.

00:09:26.240 I'd better, or, huh, I'm going to have some sort of a pushback.

00:09:30.620 So I think it would be enough to deter the casual scolds, informants, and snitches.

00:09:37.300 Now, if someone is hardcore angry, it might not deter them.

00:09:41.220 In fact, it might make them come up.

00:09:43.040 But it's a very friendly mask, a very friendly button.

00:09:46.080 It says, I am exempt.

00:09:47.000 There's a little picture of a mask on there.

00:09:50.280 Maskexemption.ca.

00:09:51.160 So it's not aggressive.

00:09:54.020 And if people want the information, they know where to get it.

00:09:58.440 Maskexemption.ca.

00:09:59.240 It's a very simple button, but I think more and more shopkeepers are learning that there are exemptions.

00:10:10.800 So I think it depends where you are.

00:10:12.000 If you're just out in the wild, there may be a self-appointed scold who comes up to you not knowing.

00:10:17.880 But if you're in a store, by now, I think most stores have sort of instructed their people there are exemptions, so that's a real thing.

00:10:27.440 You would think that's the case, Ezra.

00:10:29.160 But, I mean, our fellow rebel, Tamara Ugolini, she had a video of that Coburg McDonald's denying service to a senior, a disabled senior, needs oxygen, has a letter from the physician.

00:10:42.660 Well, and she's carrying an oxygen tank, for God's sakes. 1.00

00:10:45.560 I mean, even if the law didn't exempt her, you'd think out of common sense, neighborliness, and pity. 0.90

00:10:51.340 I mean, she's carrying her oxygen around. 0.95

00:10:53.820 I mean, my God.

00:10:54.760 But there was no accommodation whatsoever.

00:10:57.360 Well, I should tell you that just yesterday, I was talking to our general counsel, Aaron Rosenberg, about what to do.

00:11:02.820 Because we have a fightthefines.com program, but that's defensive.

00:11:07.060 When the police give you an outrageous fine, we fight it.

00:11:09.920 So we assume everything's fine.

00:11:12.520 The police make an illegal arrest or a ticket.

00:11:15.660 We fight it.

00:11:16.280 Very simple.

00:11:16.820 But what do you do when there's no police involved, when there's no ticket, no fine?

00:11:20.740 What do you do if there's a company that violates your rights?

00:11:24.820 For example, under the Toronto bylaw, you're not allowed to ask why someone's exempt.

00:11:28.720 You're just not allowed.

00:11:30.380 And we're branding about some ideas.

00:11:33.260 It may involve having a pro forma template, like a fill this out.

00:11:42.160 I hate human rights commissions.

00:11:44.120 I despise them.

00:11:44.980 I've been put through them for improper reasons.

00:11:48.020 But you know what?

00:11:48.800 Telling someone in a wheelchair, prove you're disabled, is actually maybe something the Human Rights Commission should say,

00:11:56.280 whoa, big corporate international company like McDonald's.

00:12:00.360 You can't tell someone to prove they should be in a wheelchair. 0.98

00:12:04.140 You can't tell someone with an oxygen tank to back off.

00:12:07.340 And these mask bylaws have a specific exemption.

00:12:09.780 Maybe companies that bully little old ladies with oxygen tanks need 10, 20, 30 Human Rights Commission complaints to their legal department before they educate their staff. 1.00

00:12:24.160 We haven't finalized that yet.

00:12:26.380 But the idea of having a template for people in every province to fill out, to smack back at abusive corporations.

00:12:34.780 I hate Human Rights Commissioners.

00:12:37.180 I'll put that on the record.

00:12:37.900 Everyone knows that about me.

00:12:39.700 But what are you going to do when someone needs to eat?

00:12:43.760 They go to a grocery store or a restaurant.

00:12:46.360 They're not allowed in because some bully who doesn't know the law says you have to wear a mask.

00:12:52.560 But she's a lady with an oxygen tank. 1.00

00:12:54.740 How do you deal with it?

00:12:56.280 You know what gets the attention of a franchise or a store like that?

00:13:00.180 A human rights complaint, perhaps litigation eventually, the embarrassment, the cost, or basically their own legal department saying,

00:13:10.220 guys, we're wrong here.

00:13:13.380 We're going to lose and we're going to keep losing. 0.90

00:13:16.340 And there's also the PR black guy. 0.84

00:13:18.440 Yes.

00:13:18.740 Why don't we just be reasonable human beings and let the little old lady with the oxygen tank in? 1.00

00:13:24.720 Oh, big companies, especially these days, I think, Ezra, are very sensitive to the court of public opinion in terms of not doing anything wrong.

00:13:32.040 On the flip side, what would you say, Ezra, to those?

00:13:35.160 I mean, I see the tall foreheads in the media party and the various Karens that phone in to talk radio.

00:13:41.140 And they're going, come on, just wear the mask.

00:13:43.420 We're all in this together.

00:13:44.940 Stop trying to get around the rules.

00:13:47.580 What do you say to those people that bring that argument in regard to going maskless?

00:13:53.580 Well, it's a lie that we're all in this together.

00:13:55.640 There's two halves of society.

00:13:58.560 There's the ruling class and then there's the working class. 0.61

00:14:01.340 And let me explain what I mean.

00:14:02.220 That's not a Marxist comment.

00:14:03.780 The ruling class are people who have been loving the pandemic, people who haven't lost a cent, people, in fact, who have had a six-month vacation and have been paid every day.

00:14:14.740 I mean, I can't believe that university professors are getting their six-figure salaries and a number of universities aren't even having classes.

00:14:21.100 It's amazing.

00:14:21.640 I mean, that's amazing.

00:14:23.360 Teachers unions, most government sector workers, they've been loving this.

00:14:30.040 I'm not going to say who, but I know someone who literally went to Europe for a month and sort of no one knew.

00:14:36.880 And like paid vacation, that's just amazing.

00:14:39.260 Take the kids, get away from the lockdown.

00:14:41.280 So we're not all in this together.

00:14:44.300 There's people who are loving every moment of this.

00:14:46.900 There are mega corporations like Jeff Bezos hit $200 billion personal net worth because of the lockdown.

00:14:54.100 So we're not all in this together.

00:14:56.740 The big box stores are doing fine.

00:14:58.800 Everything online is doing fine.

00:15:00.240 The government class, the ruling class is fine.

00:15:02.340 The people who aren't doing fine are the small mom-and-pop retail shops who are crushed by the rules,

00:15:10.200 who are having their lunch eaten by the Amazons of the world. 1.00

00:15:13.740 Waiters, waitresses, clerks in stores, shopkeepers, people who are allowed to open but now have so many stupid rules. 0.99

00:15:22.460 So we're not all in this together. 1.00

00:15:24.260 Journalists are the worst of all.

00:15:25.580 I mean, there's so many great little videotapes from the White House press room where all these journalists have their masks on when they're on camera.

00:15:35.200 And the second they think the camera's off, they take their mask off.

00:15:38.520 They don't believe in this BS.

00:15:40.420 And so we're not all in this together.

00:15:42.560 And there's one more thing I want to say.

00:15:46.740 The public health officer of one of the provinces, the other said, you know, the virus does not discriminate.

00:15:52.180 It goes after all of us equally.

00:15:53.660 Well, that's not true either.

00:15:55.580 In all of Ontario, population 14 and a half million, the population of people who are age 30 and under is 5.2 million.

00:16:08.340 So there's 5.2 million people in Ontario.

00:16:11.220 I'm just picking Ontario in this example because I saw a doctor say, oh, my God, there was a 23-year-old.

00:16:17.880 He came in and he died.

00:16:19.620 And it is true that four people in Ontario under the age 30 have died.

00:16:28.140 Four people out of 5.2 million.

00:16:31.020 So you have a one in a million, less than one in a million chance of dying from this virus if you're under 30.

00:16:39.560 I'm with you, Ezra.

00:16:40.580 I've said from the beginning that shutting down the entire economy has been the wrong way to go.

00:16:44.940 And what have we seen?

00:16:46.240 Depression off the scale.

00:16:48.040 Suicides increasing.

00:16:49.320 Spousal abuse.

00:16:50.420 People losing their livelihoods.

00:16:51.920 When 82% of the deaths have been seniors in long-term care facilities, that's where we should have put our focus. 1.00

00:16:57.900 You know, there's two viruses, two threats, health threats from China. 1.00

00:17:01.620 One is the coronavirus.

00:17:03.620 The other is opioids, extremely addictive, dangerous drugs made massively in China, shipped to the West for profit, but also to undermine us.

00:17:16.040 And in British Columbia, six times as many people have died from opioids over the pandemic than have died from the virus.

00:17:24.340 There are, and the Toronto Police Service has quite a quirky website, an amazing group of charts and graphs on shootings and killings in the city.

00:17:36.720 Like, I'm stunned that their political bosses allow this website to be out there, because this is the most damning website I've seen in Canada.

00:17:44.240 It's run by the Toronto Police Service.

00:17:46.180 Last I checked, there were 171 people in Toronto that were killed or injured from shootings.

00:17:52.820 This year so far, we're not even done the year.

00:17:56.840 Most of those people are young people.

00:17:59.140 Now, again, if you're in your 80s or 90s and in a senior's home with a do-not-revive order, I would be extremely worried about the coronavirus, because everyone wants, oh, great-grandpa's got the cough.

00:18:09.840 Do not revive him.

00:18:11.120 He's just costing us too much.

00:18:12.700 Like, it's a euthanasia move.

00:18:14.360 It's a do-not-revive move.

00:18:15.700 It's an assisted dying move.

00:18:17.620 It's really gross.

00:18:18.480 There's a reason why 82% of the deaths in Canada haven't been seniors.

00:18:23.700 They've been seniors in homes. 0.96

00:18:26.760 Are you at risk if you're 85 years old?

00:18:29.880 Well, sure.

00:18:30.500 Life expectancy in Canada is less than 85.

00:18:32.940 You will pass away soon.

00:18:34.680 Yeah.

00:18:34.860 But are you actually at risk if you're 85 from the virus?

00:18:38.340 Well, if you're in a do-not-revive senior's home, you are at great risk.

00:18:43.600 100%.

00:18:44.020 But if you're just a regular senior, you're not actually at a grave risk.

00:18:49.400 The grave risk are these euthanasia-style, grandpa's been around for 80 years, time to say goodbye.

00:18:57.040 The masks are a placebo.

00:19:00.260 You know, for 21 years, for 19 years, excuse me, we've all been going through airports where they pat you down and search this and search that and humiliate you and take off your shoes and grope you.

00:19:11.680 I am unaware in 19 years of a single terrorist plopping foil.

00:19:17.740 Maybe I missed one, but in Canada and the United States, we have spent billions of dollars and wasted billions of man-hours in what's called security theater.

00:19:27.920 Yes.

00:19:29.000 And masks are public health theater.

00:19:33.200 They're not actually for public health.

00:19:35.140 I mean, Teresa Tam, the World Health Organization, they're flip-flopping on masks all the time. 0.96

00:19:38.940 But why did they bring in the masks only in August and September when the pandemic peaked in April?

00:19:45.820 It's public health theater.

00:19:48.880 Oh, and Ezra, I remember March 8th, Dr. Fauci in the U.S. saying, do not wear a mask.

00:19:54.640 Yeah.

00:19:55.540 It's contrary to what we know.

00:19:57.240 And then a complete 180 on that.

00:19:58.980 Well, Ezra, well said.

00:20:00.960 And you know what, folks, I'll tell you, tomorrow, high noon, if you're in the Toronto area, Young Dundas Square, members of Yahoo Nation, they're going to be assembling.

00:20:09.540 Don't know if Doug is going to send the cops after them or not.

00:20:13.740 But we have a very generous donor who's bought thousands of these buttons.

00:20:17.220 And I'm going to be there with a little Santa Claus sack, especially since the city of Toronto a couple of days ago announced that, yes, the Santa Claus parade after more than a century has been canceled this year thanks to the Wuhan virus.

00:20:29.800 And I'm going to hand these out to anyone that wants one.

00:20:33.200 You can even take two if you want.

00:20:35.000 So make your politics known.

00:20:38.640 Make your expression known.

00:20:40.020 Wear this badge with pride, as I do.

00:20:42.100 And don't get hassled anymore.

00:20:44.720 Keep it here.

00:20:45.160 We'll be right back with more Rebel Roundup.

00:20:52.380 Hi, Minister.

00:20:53.180 How are you this morning?

00:20:54.900 Could you tell me what you meant when you said yesterday that your government might regulate everything?

00:21:00.140 I certainly never said that.

00:21:01.920 You actually said it as a threat.

00:21:03.580 Unfortunately, Rebel News always distorts what I say.

00:21:06.440 It was quite clear.

00:21:07.540 You said it in a tweet as a threat to companies, digital companies that don't regulate themselves.

00:21:11.680 You said the government could regulate everything.

00:21:13.360 Can I say to you that you guys are contributing to hate against me because you spread misinformation and disinformation?

00:21:20.220 I will continue to call out your misinformation and disinformation every single day.

00:21:24.900 What was the misinformation?

00:21:26.100 Please tell me.

00:21:26.620 I'd be interested to hear.

00:21:27.900 The misinformation and disinformation is what you just said right now.

00:21:31.220 You threatened yesterday to regulate.

00:21:33.180 You said on Twitter.

00:21:35.260 You know what I don't like?

00:21:36.540 Sure, please tell me.

00:21:37.600 Is that you're contributing to all the hate I'm receiving.

00:21:41.140 I did an online, I did an event with women politicians.

00:21:46.720 The amount of hate that women politicians is getting from outlets like you is completely unacceptable. 1.00

00:21:53.440 About half of our journalists are women.

00:21:55.360 Why are you targeting us specifically over that?

00:21:57.560 It's your comments that we're asking you about.

00:21:59.240 Why do you think the massive amount of forest fires that are happening in the United States stop at the Canadian border?

00:22:09.860 They don't.

00:22:11.200 They actually do.

00:22:12.040 There's been, you know, several wildfires in B.C. and maybe a few in Alberta.

00:22:16.640 But record lows, in fact, in Alberta this year.

00:22:19.940 Record highs in the United States.

00:22:21.600 Now, why could that be?

00:22:22.840 Maybe it's not climate change. 1.00

00:22:23.980 Listen, if you jackasses are going to be in scrums with us, f**k off. 1.00

00:22:29.260 Well, get the f**k away from me. 1.00

00:22:31.180 What's your name? 0.99

00:22:32.900 Mr. Freakout.

00:22:36.980 If you're going to be in scrums with us, get a mask.

00:22:39.200 Sorry, what?

00:22:40.040 If you're going to be in a scrum with us, get a mask.

00:22:42.580 What's your name?

00:22:43.160 I know what?

00:22:43.800 Get out of here.

00:22:45.120 Well, Kian Bexte went to Ottawa the other day to cover the throne speech.

00:22:49.060 But apparently he ran into, oh, I don't know, a reimagining of the Three Stooges.

00:22:55.120 First up was Climate Barbie actually denying what she had written in a tweet.

00:23:01.280 Then there was good old Elizabeth May once again denying the science. 0.97

00:23:06.160 And the trifecta was capped off by a media party member who was having a hissy fit because Kian was maskless? 0.90

00:23:15.020 Wow.

00:23:15.780 Curly Larry and Moe, eat your hearts out. 0.75

00:23:19.060 And joining me now with his visit to Parliament Hill is Kian Bexte himself.

00:23:24.300 How you doing there, Kian?

00:23:26.860 Hey, David.

00:23:27.780 I'm doing great.

00:23:28.440 Sorry, it's a little bit noisy here on Parliament Hill as a result of the construction that's going on.

00:23:33.720 But it's next day in Ottawa otherwise.

00:23:35.880 And I'm just camping out right now outside of West Block to try and catch MPs as they come in and out of the House of Commons.

00:23:44.120 Well, that's great that you're putting in that extra effort for even more videos, Kian.

00:23:48.800 But that first video that you sent along, wow, so much to dissect there.

00:23:53.900 First of all, it's kind of a sidebar issue.

00:23:56.920 But that CTV cameraman that actually tried to swat your microphone out of your hand.

00:24:04.200 You know, in a way, Kian, I wish he had succeeded because that would give you reason to take that expensive camera he was carting around and throw that to the ground.

00:24:12.580 What was his problem?

00:24:15.300 I don't know.

00:24:16.020 He's in the same vein as Mike Arcelides, who you probably remember.

00:24:20.400 Yes.

00:24:22.880 He, you know, loses his temper.

00:24:25.200 And that's typical of the mainstream media.

00:24:26.720 They're mad that we're eating their lunch.

00:24:29.360 Yeah.

00:24:29.900 And he uses it in the context of you being the second coming of Typhoid Mary because you're not wearing a mask.

00:24:36.920 But the statistics are so infinitesimally small there'd be any transmission. 0.89

00:24:42.320 It's downright ludicrous.

00:24:43.560 But, of course, the main event was indeed Catherine McKenna.

00:24:48.540 And what I found astounding, Kian, and I watched it two or three times because she seemed so genuine and real that this was a fabrication, that you were making up stuff.

00:25:02.700 I mean, it was either that or an acting performance worthy of Meryl Streep.

00:25:08.620 And then I got to thinking, Kian, do you think she didn't write this, that somebody on her staff wrote this and she was completely oblivious and ignorant to that tweet?

00:25:20.980 Yeah, I would say ministers are aware of about 50 percent of the actual correspondence that come out of their office.

00:25:27.480 The rest of it is being done by people even more radical and ideological than them.

00:25:35.440 And usually they're a bit more confident, which is the scary part.

00:25:38.960 So maybe she didn't know.

00:25:41.940 Maybe she did. 0.93

00:25:42.940 I have no idea.

00:25:43.820 But her immediate response is to call me out and rebel out for the online pose and online hate that she gets. 1.00

00:25:53.760 And, I mean, to be fair, she does get a lot.

00:25:57.120 But that's what any minister of the crown gets.

00:26:00.800 And also, you have to ask yourself, why is this happening?

00:26:03.880 Why are you so broadly disliked on Canadians?

00:26:07.020 Maybe they have to look at themselves in a mirror.

00:26:09.600 So, Kian, what I found odd was that she was saying the nature of the hatred is a form of misogyny because she was stressing the female element.

00:26:20.600 And yet this woman's boss is Justin Trudeau, who has a bit of a track record of groping females. 0.99

00:26:28.540 I think that's more hateful than whatever it is Catherine McKenna is talking about in terms of our content.

00:26:35.460 Yeah, and I mean, I wouldn't call our content hateful at all.

00:26:41.480 Our content is factual.

00:26:43.020 Our content exposes things that the mainstream media just won't expose.

00:26:48.080 If you receive messages from upset Canadians as a result of that, that is not our problem.

00:26:56.780 Our job is to report the truth, report the facts, and report the stories as we see them.

00:27:02.400 And it's McKenna's duty to deal with the fallout of her poor decisions.

00:27:08.380 Yeah, and you know, Kian, as always, you know, you, I, Sheila, Ezra, all our rebels have been through this. 0.95

00:27:14.920 When we meet the hostiles, they say, you're hateful, you're Islamophobic, you're Nazis.

00:27:21.940 And then you challenge them, give me an example. 0.98

00:27:25.680 And they can never come up with one.

00:27:27.380 I don't think that's a high benchmark, do you?

00:27:29.640 No, absolutely not.

00:27:32.900 I asked McKenna that exact question, and unfortunately, I have no answer to it.

00:27:37.180 When you ask them that question, they turn around and start accusing them of being an assajunist,

00:27:43.300 Islamophobic, homophobic, liar, whatever it is, because they can't take responsibility for their own actions. 1.00

00:27:49.680 Well, and, Kian, we've got to wrap it here. 0.98

00:27:53.060 Of course, the third stooge was Elizabeth May. 1.00

00:27:55.640 Very quickly, do we know if Elizabeth May rode her bicycle to Ottawa that day,

00:28:01.640 or did she drive that 640-horsepower Dodge Viper? 0.99

00:28:07.040 She drove the vehicle.

00:28:08.360 I didn't catch what kind of vehicle it was, but her husband dropped her off in it.

00:28:12.000 Obviously, one of those specialized vehicles that run on pixie dust or something like that.

00:28:17.260 For sure.

00:28:17.920 Yeah.

00:28:18.840 Well, Kian, happy hunting while you're still in Ottawa. 1.00

00:28:22.120 Thank you so much.

00:28:23.280 Take care.

00:28:24.560 You got it.

00:28:25.820 And, folks, that was Kian Bexty hanging around West Block trying to scrum more MPs.

00:28:32.480 Keep it here.

00:28:33.060 We've got more of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.

00:28:35.840 Where's my fine, Doug Ford?

00:28:43.660 Where's our fine, Doug Ford?

00:28:45.740 They're lying to you.

00:28:47.700 Well, I'm with Kellyanne Wolfe, and wow, what a brave lady she is.

00:28:52.920 She's gone on record as saying she is the organizer of this event.

00:28:57.840 So that means she faces fines starting at $10,000, going all the way to $100,000, maybe even jail time.

00:29:05.940 Who knows?

00:29:06.780 Kellyanne, are you worried that as the afternoon progresses, law enforcement is going to come in and give you a five- or six-figure fine?

00:29:16.120 No, I'm not, and I'll tell you why, David.

00:29:17.820 Under Section 2C of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, we are protected to protest.

00:29:22.840 That's why Doug Ford, everybody has to start paying attention to the language that politicians use.

00:29:28.380 Okay, he spoke of parties and gatherings like that, and social gatherings.

00:29:32.600 This is not a social gathering.

00:29:33.820 This is a protest, and you are 100% protected under your charter rights, which he cannot infringe on.

00:29:39.620 He does not have the authority to infringe on by the charter.

00:29:43.740 So you can protest.

00:29:44.760 You're free to protest and gather, and it's freedom of assembly.

00:29:47.140 You know, Kellyanne, Doug Ford had a very rare Saturday press conference just an hour ago, and he was asked the question if the social gatherings include protests, and he said yes.

00:30:00.460 So that's completely contrary to what you're saying.

00:30:04.160 I guess this is something for the courts.

00:30:07.240 Yeah, absolutely.

00:30:08.120 And I encourage Doug Ford, if he wants to find somebody, come and find me.

00:30:12.100 I encourage you to, because I will set a precedent across this entire country as to what our laws mean and what they stand for.

00:30:20.700 See, the government, David, the government likes to try and call upon the Emergency Measures Act as their source of authority for infringing upon the rights of Canadians, and that is completely false.

00:30:30.600 On the first page of the Emergency Measures Act, it clearly states that this act is subject to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

00:30:36.180 They do not have the authority.

00:30:37.560 That is a blatant lie.

00:30:38.420 And I suggest to the politicians out there, they become a little bit more familiar with their laws, considering they're supposed to be representing them and the people.

00:30:44.700 Well, Ontario Premier Doug Ford might refer to Kellyanne Wolfe and her fellow protesters as a, quote, bunch of yahoos, end quote. 0.86

00:30:53.360 But one thing is certain, Yahoo Nation is not backing down.

00:30:58.880 They've been assembling on the lawns of Queen's Park since late April.

00:31:02.140 And despite the specter of heavy fines, they apparently aren't going away anytime soon.

00:31:09.560 By the way, if you're interested in being part of this movement, Yahoo Nation will be assembling at Yonge Dundas Square in Toronto tomorrow at noon prior to marching to Queen's Park.

00:31:20.700 The question is, will they be fined this time, or will law enforcement continue to look the other way?

00:31:27.360 In any event, here's what you had to say about their protests from last Saturday.

00:31:33.600 Rebecca Slushinsky writes,

00:31:36.160 Indeed, and I would suggest that if charges are laid, a constitutional challenge looms here.

00:31:54.400 And another thing, why does Premier Ford call these people yahoos, yet he has absolutely nothing snarky to say when Black Lives Matter protesters show up on the lawns of Queen's Park?

00:32:09.420 Yeah, why indeed?

00:32:11.600 W. Scott writes,

00:32:13.360 What a complete joke Ford is.

00:32:15.440 He had a chance to go down as the greatest premier in Ontario, but nope, too much cheesecake.

00:32:21.420 One term, I'll put money on that one.

00:32:24.400 Any takers?

00:32:25.140 Well, W. Scott, all Ford had to do was live up to his 2018 election promises of being Ford the people.

00:32:34.280 Remember that little chestnut?

00:32:36.020 Funny thing is, the vast majority of the folks showing up at Queen's Park protests openly admit to having voted for the Ford PCs two years ago.

00:32:45.400 Yet, Doug labels them yahoos as he consistently cuddles up to the mean girls in the media party, the very same reporters he used to denounce when they were on a journalistic jihad against his late great brother, Rob Ford.

00:33:03.760 To paraphrase the late great Fred Willard, hey, Dougie, what happened?

00:33:11.500 Tame Thing writes,

00:33:12.940 Is anyone still delusional enough to think this is about a virus and not just a power grab?

00:33:19.960 Indeed, going by the death toll numbers, not the positive case numbers, there is a case to be made that the pandemic is over.

00:33:28.720 Meanwhile, as my boss Ezra Levent likes to note, politicians of every stripe during this pandemic got a little taste of totalitarian power.

00:33:39.020 And you know what, folks?

00:33:40.280 They kind of like the taste.

00:33:42.960 Ina Christo writes,

00:33:44.200 Yep, be it Ford or Toronto Mayor John Tory or Brampton Mayor Crybaby Patrick Brown or even Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,

00:33:58.340 we have surely learned one thing during this pandemic when it comes to our so-called fearless leaders.

00:34:04.680 Namely, it is one law for thee and one law for me.

00:34:09.880 And Wayne Hitchcock writes,

00:34:11.720 The rallying cry for these protests should be,

00:34:15.740 I'm Spartacus.

00:34:17.380 When the cops come to arrest the organizer, everyone should claim to be the organizer.

00:34:23.400 Oh, Wayne, wouldn't that be a Kodak moment for the ages?

00:34:27.880 Let's just see what happens tomorrow at high noon.

00:34:31.580 Well, that wraps up another edition of Rebel Roundup.

00:34:34.100 Thanks so much for joining us.

00:34:35.400 See you next week.

00:34:36.260 And hey, folks, never forget, without risk, there can be no glory.

00:34:40.400 Good night.

00:34:41.720 We'll see you next week.
