00:11:45.000 The recent outbreak of the coronavirus of China has progressed so quickly.

00:11:51.440 After the first case was confirmed in Wuhan, China on January 12th,

00:11:56.500 Within only two weeks, the virus has reached multiple major metropolis,

00:12:02.200 including Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou,

00:12:05.780 as well as other countries in Asia, Europe, and North America.

00:12:10.460 You may have already been aware of the disease and its severity.

00:12:15.320 However, we still have a few reasons for our kids, parents, teachers, schools, and community

00:12:20.600 to take extra actions on this fast-spread disease.

00:12:26.300 January 25th, 2020 is Chinese New Year.

00:12:29.320 Traditionally, large amounts of people travel nationwide or even internationally

00:12:34.960 during this period to meet family and friends,

00:12:39.220 which tremendously increases the chance of infection.

00:12:44.260 Meanwhile, in the next few weeks, families went to China,

00:12:48.060 will travel back to Canada.

00:12:49.520 It will definitely bring the virus into our country

00:13:36.500 Other parents of the class should have the right to know whether there are students in the class

00:13:43.880 coming back from China recently and have the right to decide whether to keep their kids at home.

00:13:57.800 who or whose families have recently returned from China to stay at home

00:14:04.800 and keep isolated for a minimum of 17 days for the purpose of self-quarantine.

00:15:04.680 Well, check out this lovely letter jointly written by trustee Juanita Nathan and Louise Cerisco,

00:15:17.620 we have to be cautious that this not be seen as a Chinese virus.

00:15:24.920 Those who are afflicted or are potential transmitters are not just people of Chinese origin.

00:15:33.640 The letter then encourages students to practice good hygiene.

00:15:39.220 The York Region dynamic duo notes that, quote,

00:16:53.040 In other words, the petition was pushing for the exact same mandates our government is now insisting we embrace here and now.

00:18:38.460 By the way, last January, I did visit the Aurora, Ontario headquarters of the York Region District School Board

00:18:46.360 to get their side of the story regarding this racism rubbish.
