coach linda blade on her fight to save women's sports i'm sheila gun reid and you're watching
00:00:20.380
today's show is a real treat for me and i hope it's a real treat for you also i get to
00:00:29.940
interview someone who's a bit of a personal hero you see today's guest is coach linda blade she's
00:00:36.800
a coach as i've indicated a couple of times already but she's also a canadian track and
00:00:42.880
field champion she's a kinesiologist she's the former president of athletics alberta and she's
00:00:49.860
an accomplished author and she's a humanitarian and she was one of the early early warriors in the
00:01:01.460
fight to save women's sports she could see all the madness that lay before us as men compete as women
0.97
00:01:11.240
for the purposes of rugby mma swimming i mean name the sport and there's a dude trying to play it
00:01:20.740
masquerading as a woman and she saw these problems right away when sporting associations began to
00:01:30.200
adopt policies of allowing men to self-identify as women for and these are my words not hers
00:01:37.320
the purposes of gender cheating in fact linda wrote a book called unsporting it's published by
1.00
00:01:44.780
rebel news it's available at unsporting.com the book unsporting how trans activism and science
00:01:51.220
denial are destroying sport predicted many of the things going on in society right now because linda
00:01:59.640
she's an expert in the human body as a kinesiologist she understands the difference
0.98
00:02:05.640
between male and female physiology and she understood that feelings could not change
00:02:11.820
reality and she joins me now in an interview we recorded yesterday morning
00:02:16.520
joining me now is my new friend um although someone i met before and i've always been a fan of
00:02:28.920
coach linda blade she's uh a kinesiologist uh the head of athletics alberta an author and an advocate
00:02:37.880
for sex-based rights i mean i guess it started in sports for you but it spilled over from that
00:02:43.780
um we were at uh an event with april hutchinson over the weekend and i thought as i was talking to
00:02:50.440
i thought man i would read an autobiography by linda blade and so i had quite a life so i had to talk to
00:02:59.060
you more but let's talk about the most top of mind thing so what's happening in alberta with
00:03:06.260
our premier daniel smith i think exhibiting the common sense position on the best way to both foster
00:03:15.880
inclusion but protect the rights of women and girls but also boys and men yes yes well okay first uh
00:03:25.760
just a small correction i should have told you i am no longer president of athletics alberta yeah
00:03:29.760
um that was about a year ago i i moved on because i was doing something with concerted party of canada
00:03:35.980
and i needed to change change uh arenas so to speak um but anyway so yes with respect to um premier
00:03:44.260
daniel smith i think she has uh um woken up earlier than other premiers all those you know
00:03:51.680
premier higgs and new brunswick and scottmo like they all indicated they were concerned about the
00:03:57.220
children but as far as women's sports premier daniel smith should be congratulated for being the first
00:04:03.020
premier to literally come out and say we we understand there's a competitive advantage that
00:04:08.380
men have in women's sports that male bodies have in women's sports and so we need to
1.00
00:04:13.420
start working on guidelines in alberta that draw sex-based boundaries around sports so that every
00:04:20.060
sport has at least one category that's female only now she's indicating there can be other categories
00:04:25.480
like mixed sex categories and co-ed and and male but um i think as far as um the way it helps men and
00:04:34.960
boys is that neither women nor men want to have the opposite opposite sex person uh in their spaces if
0.62
00:04:43.280
they can help it especially the private spaces and and so allowing people and you know i know the
00:04:49.900
premier has said something a little bit questionable about bathrooms and and locker rooms and stuff so
00:04:56.160
uh just the other day but uh i think they are still beta testing all these ideas and i i just think that
00:05:01.780
the conclusion is going to be reached that at some point you need strict sex-based boundaries in
00:05:06.200
certain contexts now you and i were talking that you were sort of one of the first people to sound
00:05:14.580
the alarm bells i don't think you had a crystal ball i think you have a crystal mind and i think it
00:05:19.040
a lot of it has to do with your background in kinesiology i mean you're an expert in the mechanics
00:05:24.960
of the human body and yet when you were first raising these these issues you were sort of being
00:05:31.780
told to it's it's never going to be as bad as you're telling us it's going to be what was that like
00:05:37.860
well it was it was surreal i guess i'm you know when i first woke up to it i was sitting at i was
00:05:45.400
president of athletics alberta and i was sitting at a national meeting uh where all the presidents of
00:05:51.200
the provinces were sitting around a table in a meeting room and we were based this was 2018 and
00:05:57.500
we were basically told you know our new policy is going to have to be that anybody can self-identify
00:06:03.740
that and to me and of course i asked about it it means any male no matter the age can self-identify
00:06:10.300
into women's sports a girl's sports girls or women teams or or races and um you know i told them i said
00:06:19.820
guys we know the truth look at any record olympic world national provincial school record
00:06:28.260
we all know the difference between male and female and all you're doing here is saying that if you're
00:06:34.800
going to allow a man male to self-identify into women's sports what you're saying is you're going to
00:06:42.280
endorse sex discrimination against women and girls in sports that's what you're doing
00:06:47.040
and they would all and it was the reaction that told me more than anything they all sat down and
00:06:52.520
looked at their hands they looked down at their hands instead of saying linda you know they could
00:06:57.440
have even said something like linda you have a point uh but you know the government says we should do
00:07:01.560
this give me some explanation but instead they were quiet and they just looked down and i it was my
00:07:07.200
moment of truth because i figured okay i'm the one sitting here speaking up and i'm one of the
00:07:11.460
leaders it's either going to be me or nobody says anything and i knew it in that instant i had all the
00:07:18.600
background i was an athlete i was national champion hyptathlon in the 80s you know i have an
00:07:23.880
international certificate in coaching for the world athletics i have i have a phd in human biology
00:07:31.020
including development of children and youth uh in terms of the puberty thing i have uh i'm a coach
00:07:38.120
of athletes in 17 different sports because of my sport performance um profession uh and i was president
00:07:45.000
of a sports association if if not me then who who would be the person to actually have to speak up
00:07:51.860
and argue my point and of course they tried to make me i mean you can't believe like the shunning
00:07:57.340
at coffee time after you speak up or uh the the cold chill that comes across the room silence that
00:08:05.340
linda blade here we go again and she's such a bigot
1.00
00:08:08.120
um it it was more like this that undertow you know it wasn't actually overly although somebody
00:08:14.300
did tell me you're breaking canadian law when you say that if you say alberta is going to do it
00:08:18.480
differently for your association and you're going to say if you're born male you can't you have to
00:08:24.260
compete male you know you're breaking the law so i told them okay then prove to me because i know
00:08:30.080
the charter says charter of rights and freedom says it's not permissible to discriminate on the basis
00:08:36.740
of sex sex is one of those characteristics listed in the charter so i i basically said to them well
00:08:42.340
then you prove to me how in the world we're being allowed to discriminate like on the basis of sex
00:08:47.700
and nobody could give me an answer so i knew i was right but it just seemed weird and then people
00:08:53.400
would come up to me quietly when nobody was looking and say you know i agree with you but
00:08:59.100
if i said anything i'd lose my job it's always these people who act like oh you're so bad and then they
00:09:05.420
come up to you afterwards when nobody's looking right and all of that behavior sheila just tell
1.00
00:09:11.800
told me we're in this dystopian moment where nobody's really allowed to speak the truth
00:09:17.180
or that they they sense that they aren't and i don't know why uh it didn't affect me because i knew i was right
00:09:29.100
so why didn't you just be quiet i mean i know that the overwhelming majority of people out there
00:09:38.580
regardless of their politics know that biological men have an advantage physically over women in sport
00:09:46.680
i think the overwhelming majority of people know intellectually that no no number of surgical
00:09:55.300
interventions would be enough to change someone's biological sex i think people truly know that
00:10:01.720
yeah why don't they speak up and i guess why were you resilient to that pressure
00:10:08.280
i don't know i guess it was in part of it is genetics like i have parents who are very
00:10:15.700
very on your own speak your truth no matter what kind of people and i had experiences in the nc2a
00:10:23.100
and my first you know i spent two years at university of missouri on scholarship then i
00:10:27.540
transferred partly because there was a scandal at university of missouri where a coach was abusing
00:10:32.100
girls and i was the only one as a 19 year old and 20 year old who stood up and spoke up about it
00:10:38.380
um and i learned early on that you have to stand your ground i mean that was a crazy situation where
00:10:46.340
you know we'd be in a van because we were at missouri and every every you know whether it's university
00:10:51.860
of kansas or iowa or wherever we went it was like a six-hour van ride to that competition and when i
00:11:00.280
decided to come forward and speak up about how the coach was abusing the girls um of course none of the
00:11:06.460
girls wanted to pretend to be my friends because they were worried about the coach taking their
1.00
00:11:10.660
scholarship away um and so they pretended like they hated me and then you know we'd i'd be on a six-hour
00:11:17.520
van ride where nobody would talk to me and i went and that yet privately i knew they so appreciated what
00:11:24.960
i was doing but when i finally went to university of maryland um within about two months after i
00:11:31.620
started in the new school this coach got fired and then i had letters from countless girls on my team
00:11:39.500
saying i can't thank you enough for what you did so i had a little early on i had a lesson about
00:11:46.880
standing up for people when you have a chance and the reason the only reason i could speak out
00:11:51.960
sheila was because um i had a i was in the states as a foreign student and they had signed a letter of
00:12:00.680
intent that they couldn't yank my scholarship on a whim uh so as i since i was the only foreign student
00:12:06.600
with a full scholarship i was somewhat protected i had that letter of intent in my hand so i was able
00:12:12.840
and so i did and the other girls couldn't because he could have yanked their funding so i learned early
00:12:20.080
on that you can feel extreme discomfort in a moment but when you know what you see and you speak it
00:12:27.380
when you have your chance there's going to be a great positive benefit in the long run
00:12:35.980
and so maybe experiences like that taught me something early on in life that there are
00:12:43.840
people in this world who will do wrong things and they will gaslight everyone around them into thinking
00:12:50.360
you can't say anything but those who do will win the day and i did and and in this case there i am a
00:13:01.200
leader of a provincial governing body in sport and everybody the social pressure was shut up shut up
00:13:07.660
shut up and i said no i'm gonna speak and i will i have my background i have the bona fides to do it
0.83
00:13:18.280
and i will and i did the same thing in world athletics in 2004 or five there was stuff going on and i spoke
00:13:27.900
about it on a committee and i was promptly punted by the president of world athletics and
00:13:32.960
i'm i had people saying later i did the right thing and in fact he got arrested later on uh by the french
00:13:41.000
authorities for some of the things he was doing so i mean i don't know it's just so one of those
00:13:45.260
things that my whole life i seem to be in this position where i'm tested that way and i have to say
00:13:50.400
something so this isn't my first rodeo yeah now what sort of professional consequences have you
00:13:58.580
faced this last time you've been speaking out about the wrong before you nothing good
00:14:05.800
that's why i should do it exactly seriously like the imagination people have that they're going to
00:14:14.080
suffer and then some people really have like april hutchinson got suspended um that's why i admire her
00:14:19.840
so much for some reason every time i speak out and and i feel like i'm i'm being vulnerable
00:14:26.240
i don't know for some reason nothing much happened i mean i i guess i made the assessment that i'm a
00:14:32.220
i am a um private consultant in sport so i have my own business so if anybody's going to fire me it
00:14:40.160
would be one of my clients who's hired me to help them be better at the sport like a hockey player i
00:14:45.580
could take hockey players and teach them how to skate faster by teaching them how to run faster
00:14:49.440
because it's all you know rpms around the hip joint if i can teach a hockey player how to move faster
00:14:55.340
and he's asked me to do that um then you know something he says to me well i hate your bigoted
0.50
00:15:02.780
point of view and i don't want you coaching me anymore i'll say well good luck to you okay
00:15:08.020
next client step right up like i like to me it wasn't like i was ever going to get fired in that sense
00:15:14.520
right so i i just felt like i wasn't really very vulnerable
00:15:20.440
so i want to ask you because one of the things that we heard uh from the crowd in lloydminster over
00:15:31.100
the weekend was where are the men and i think april rightly retorted well also i've get i get a lot
00:15:39.360
of heat from the women too there were there's this strange dynamic where men have been told i think
00:15:47.320
through uh modern feminism that chivalry should be dead and so it's dead those a lot of modern feminists
1.00
00:15:57.060
got what they asked for but a lot of women are the enablers of this complete and total reality denial
1.00
00:16:05.480
and for me on the outside looking in i see there's a lot of people telling women to shut up which is
1.00
00:16:11.400
a tale as old as time yeah well it is fascinating because uh i made the point about how for example
00:16:19.080
matt walsh had the wonderful movie uh what is a woman it was brilliant we all it was like wow you
00:16:27.900
know it's everything you want to see in terms of exposing this lie but at the same time uh matt walsh
00:16:35.480
didn't really interview people like posy parker and megan murphy the women who had been fighting
00:16:43.140
who had been making the exact same arguments he made like six years before him so there was no
00:16:49.260
acknowledgement that those kinds of feminists had been speaking out and had been doing the hard work
00:16:54.220
behind the scenes but then when men and like when it went big time and the movie is well received
00:17:00.000
uh and popular then all the men on the for example sort of center to the right say where are all the
00:17:08.060
feminists uh and that question is kind of bizarre to me because feminism isn't one big blob right it's
1.00
00:17:16.200
not like we all have a hive mind where we all speak the same thing and that no women are fighting for
00:17:21.220
this i mean i'm being called a feminist mind you when i was growing up being a feminist was the last
1.00
00:17:26.440
on my mind i just wanted to compete and coach and it was only entering this fight that i realized that
00:17:32.000
some feminists have a good point and i want to help them make that argument and so now i'm being called
1.00
00:17:37.100
a feminist and i don't mind that it's just that i i don't even know what that word really means i mean
00:17:41.820
people say well if you're in favor of women's rights then you're a feminist yeah but there's
1.00
00:17:46.760
there's intersectional feminists third waivers and beyond who really believe that allowing men and
1.00
00:17:52.420
women's rights this is the way we can show the world that men and women are equal when it's showing
00:17:57.680
exactly the opposite it's showing men and women are distinctly different and yet you have the radical
00:18:03.120
feminist meaning the original radical doesn't mean far left in this case radical feminist when you use
00:18:09.040
that word it just means the original feminist like wave one which was the right to vote second wave
1.00
00:18:14.540
the equal pay for equal work like the sensible feminists are the radical are control are called
1.00
00:18:21.000
radical feminists and they all believe and they've been fighting they are the ones like
1.00
00:18:26.100
megan murphy and and posy parker doesn't say she's a feminist at all but i mean i'm just saying there's
0.98
00:18:31.280
this whole sector of women that are indeed fighting hard like look at riley gains so when somebody some
1.00
00:18:38.280
guy says well where are all the feminists i ready to go right away and think to myself are you not
1.00
00:18:42.680
seeing riley gains okay she doesn't say she's a feminist but she's making the same arguments as the
1.00
00:18:48.040
radical feminists so it's a little bit too simplistic to say where are all the feminists
1.00
00:18:52.840
like we're all distinct just like it would be like saying we're all the men there's some really
00:18:57.300
strong men in this fight you know um really really important people whether they're senators whether
00:19:04.080
they're matt walsh whether they're whoever there's you know like graham linihan there's in the uk
00:19:11.200
there's so many men who have stood up and even them paid the price for speaking up about women's
0.99
00:19:18.420
rights to sports to fairness to sex-based rights and i just think that um yeah it's i think one of
00:19:27.120
the things about um intersectional feminists the more modern ones who want to allow men and women's
1.00
00:19:33.120
sports they don't watch sports at all i think most of them don't even know what sport anything about
00:19:38.460
sport like they aren't the ones reading sports section in the newspaper they're just using sport
00:19:43.660
as their their template for social reform without understanding because i've heard a lot of women
1.00
00:19:51.760
say when i've watched their programs and they go well yeah but we know that if a man just takes the
00:19:57.260
right hormones it'll all be the same they don't understand the science does not prove that at all
00:20:02.000
science doesn't prove it there's not the science science all the investigations today show
00:20:08.120
that when you take a man and you start reducing his testosterone and putting an estrogen in the
0.95
00:20:13.380
system it does not diminish his competitive advantage in sport there've been 19 studies so
00:20:18.380
far showing that and yet you know there here comes along an intersectional feminist of that variety
1.00
00:20:24.840
saying well no no everything's being equalized when he takes a hormone as if women are just a
00:20:30.700
lower like women women are just men with lower testosterone like that is just not true we're just
00:20:36.780
completely different designs completely different designs and so those are the people the guys on
00:20:43.640
the left then tell you know the trans activists they'll say isn't it a little bit sexist abuse to
00:20:48.980
say that allowing a man into a woman's sports will will cause women to lose their play isn't that saying
1.00
00:20:54.100
men are better than women no it does not say that it's the same thing and i and i use the analogy all the
00:21:01.660
time um in men all they have to think is even men's sports or like race car for example uh formula one
00:21:12.380
cars have their own race nascars have their own race why they're all cars they all have four wheels
00:21:18.580
they're all because they're different design and and if you went to the southern united states and you
00:21:24.740
were at a nascar race and somebody suddenly decided to field a formula one car in that every guy in there
00:21:31.100
would have a conniption that you have the wrong model in the wrong race women and men are two
1.00
00:21:37.420
different models it's not like ones are worse than the other or that and if you put them together yes
00:21:43.240
the male will more than likely beat the female doesn't mean we're any less we're a different category
00:21:48.480
a different design and a vehicle in a different race and that's what's important and that's what's
00:21:54.660
interesting in its own right when we saw the nc2 to a women's final like you know 18 million people
00:22:01.320
more than watch the stanley cup watch the caitlin clark and you know in the final of the nc2a
00:22:09.360
with a peak showing of rating of 24 million people what was compelling about that that game
00:22:15.720
it's all women that yeah you're just saying the best women are competing against each other and it's a
1.00
00:22:21.380
compelling competition right we didn't say oh they're not men so it's not that interesting
00:22:26.180
you know they're just a different category and yet intersectional feminists and the men on the far
1.00
00:22:33.020
left who never watched sports either probably try to gaslight yeah they don't they don't it's i call
00:22:41.100
it progressive misogyny they're progressive left far left and they're worse misogynist than anything
00:22:46.840
we've ever seen from the far right as far as i'm concerned and they just had they're speaking out
00:22:52.660
without understanding the at the reality of of sport it's true and you know even if i concede the
00:23:02.160
battleground that women being a woman is just a feeling it it doesn't change the biology of it all but
1.00
00:23:08.100
i don't even want to concede that argument because if somebody asked me what it feels like to be a woman
00:23:12.880
i could not articulate that because it is my state of being so when a man who wants to identify as a
00:23:20.160
woman says well i feel like a woman how do you how do you know how do you know if i don't know
00:23:27.360
what that state of reality feels like for myself ever like how how does a zebra feel like being a zebra
00:23:35.660
says the horse with no stripes like right okay and if that horse paints stripes on his body does that
00:23:42.480
make him a zebra no he still feels like a horse like i don't know i just to me the biological
00:23:47.900
reality hits me every time and i just think what are you even talking about like i think literally we
00:23:54.900
have a generation or two of people who've never stepped outside and lived in the biosphere or they
00:23:59.560
do live in a biosphere but they everything in their life has been artificial so you play a video game and
00:24:04.840
you can pretend to have an avatar that's something else and as if that's reality and it's not
00:24:09.700
oh that's an excellent point it's an excellent point these it's true a lot of people who are
00:24:17.540
making these arguments that men can be women just by virtue of announcing it like michael scott on the
00:24:23.080
office when he declared bankruptcy i declare bankruptcy every time i see that it reminds me of
00:24:29.260
that but it's true these are kids who have never actually uh thought about what it means to be real
00:24:36.160
like a real human being be outside yeah like the kids farm kids i don't think are you don't see a lot
00:24:44.400
of kids who are carrying water and uh bailing the hay uh having any question about who they are
00:24:51.060
isn't that the truth um because they're not disconnected from the natural order of things uh that's a big
00:24:59.160
thing yeah i do too um you raised an interesting point in your speech in lloyd minster and i just
00:25:06.000
want to hear one more time because it's very compelling um that by protecting women's sports
1.00
00:25:13.680
you're also protecting trans people in sport yes and i think that's a point it's never been made before
00:25:21.200
yes i'll explain so there's two uh sex is binary you're born male or female and you can't be trans
00:25:28.240
unless you're born one way and transition to something else so the very fact of calling
00:25:31.940
somebody trans means that you acknowledge you were born one way and you want to yeah so there are
00:25:36.760
people born male who are who want to become women so they there's male born trans people and there's
00:25:43.480
female born trans people now the female born trans or now people who call themselves non-binary but
00:25:50.540
they're female born they stay in women's sports we already accept them we already have those
1.00
00:25:57.060
trans trans in our sports you never hear about them because they're female and they're women's
00:26:00.780
sports they're the tomboys and basically so all i'm saying is if you then take the the men who are
00:26:09.860
trans guys born male who now identify as women and you throw them into women's sports
00:26:15.320
those trans who are male are literally discriminating against the trans who are female
00:26:23.080
right and non-binary as well as everybody else there so it's actually they're the ones being
0.98
00:26:29.200
transphobic because they're the ones inserting somebody in another category in a way that hurts
00:26:35.640
another trans person and discriminates against them on the basis of sex because sex they say they're the
00:26:42.440
ones who say sex and gender are two different things so if they're a certain gender and that gender
00:26:46.960
discriminates on the basis of sex it's still hurting another trans person anyway i'm making it too
1.00
00:26:51.800
complicated it's that men who come over and want to be women are actually discriminating against
00:26:56.460
the trans who happen to be born female who have stayed in women's sports by and large and that raises
00:27:03.800
another question if the women if the female athletes accept the trans and non-binary in their midst
00:27:11.600
why are we even doing this why can't the men simply accept the male athletes who are trans in their midst
00:27:21.300
why is this crossover even a thing like we in sport we never uh for example cared if what your what
00:27:32.280
your religion was what whether you belong to a certain political party whatever your ideology
00:27:37.100
in sport we have always had the luxury of putting personal beliefs aside and just running your race with
00:27:44.280
your body with the body you were born with and sex-based guidelines according to your biological sex
00:27:50.080
but suddenly there's a special group of men who think that they could come over because they just don't
00:27:57.480
feel comfortable with their fellow they don't get the affirmation with their fellow men
00:28:01.680
and so they're seeking extra affirmation which the female trans that never almost never demand
00:28:10.120
so it becomes this another way the 2024 version of the 1950s where once again the male population
00:28:22.100
is forcing women and girls to deal with their problem
00:28:26.160
yeah it's just as this just as misogynistic as anything ever happened before but now it's now we're
00:28:34.440
supposed to celebrate it these glamorous men coming into women's sports and profiling themselves and
00:28:42.100
so when i think about it then you go and say to the men who are athletes you know i i am with men all
00:28:49.820
the time in sports of course because i coach a lot of males why won't why wouldn't you just accept a
00:28:55.800
person who let's say a man wants to identify as a woman why can't you just accept that guy in your race
1.00
00:29:01.320
and all of them tell me we're ready we want to accept that guy yeah it's the trans who are male
00:29:08.560
who are insisting they must come to the women in order to affirm their identity so it we're listening
00:29:16.680
to a really small sector of just men who are insisting on parading themselves into women's sports and
00:29:25.000
using women's sports get this as a method of social therapy they're using female sport for social
1.00
00:29:33.400
therapy that's all this is yeah and i saw that right from square one i said why leave sports out of this
00:29:42.340
do your own thing over there with the guys they'll accept you
00:29:46.120
yeah it we've gone from a certain subset of men you know half a century ago telling us there were
00:29:55.280
things that we couldn't do we had to stick to ourselves so we kind of did in some aspects and
00:30:01.500
now we have another subset of men coming along and saying that uh they're better than us at our own
00:30:08.420
things it's or even more than that yeah it's pure misogyny and it's actually more than that she like it's
00:30:16.120
a subset of men who think their rights supersede the rights of women and girls to fairness right
00:30:24.160
and if you if then i noticed in the that case in australia the tickle versus giggle trial
00:30:31.960
the man who's trying to get into women's spaces he's saying well i just didn't feel comfortable
00:30:37.840
like men's locker room and bathrooms feel stinky and smelly and and yeah so now you want to come into
1.00
00:30:44.940
our bathrooms and make our bathrooms stinky and smelly and unsafe oh how how convenient of you
00:30:50.200
to come over to our side as a male and now bring that all over to us because the minute he's allowed
00:30:56.560
into women's spaces so is the next guy whether he's really trans or not so is the next predator who
00:31:02.440
decides he wants to just use social therapy as his you know his gate to come in if you don't have
00:31:09.800
complete protection of the female space that's what's going to happen there's no exceptions
1.00
00:31:14.760
there's an absolute selfishness and self-indulgent i was going to say self-indulgent narcissism in this
00:31:25.080
that certain people think they can bend biological reality to their own thoughts and feelings and that
00:31:33.880
women and girls should be forced to affirm their choices at the expense of the opportunities of the
1.00
00:31:42.180
women and the safety and comfort of the women and girls it is narcissism yes and in fact using the
00:31:49.340
entire females to face almost it's like they never really even ever acknowledged that possibility you
00:31:55.160
know if you notice if you listen to them speaking i went to a rally at the legislature last wednesday
00:32:01.240
uh that pro trans and sports rally not one time did they mention women's sports it's like it's this
00:32:08.500
background of you know it's like this white background upon which the rainbow people can draw
00:32:14.060
their story like it's they don't even acknowledge that there was there is any such thing as women's
00:32:20.780
rights or a woman's need to have her own sport even amongst the females who are talking about trans and
0.99
00:32:27.680
sport they're all staying in women's sports every single person who was speaking there as an athlete
0.99
00:32:34.280
was a female athlete and and even one recognized yeah i've been really lucky i've been fully accepted
00:32:42.320
in women's sports yeah of course you have because that's what we do right but they didn't know she
1.00
00:32:47.960
didn't say women's sports she said i've i've been fully accepted by my teammates she never said
00:32:52.800
not one time in that whole rally was the word woman's sport mentioned and that's my point they have
0.97
00:32:59.900
to keep us sort of this background uh dark matter white chalkboard whatever you want to say that they
00:33:06.600
can write their story on without acknowledging the other individuals in women's sports that's the only
00:33:12.180
way they can justify uh their explanation or their their um trespassing into the female category
1.00
00:33:20.380
now do you think the tide is turning i think danielle smith is right now a political outlier
1.00
00:33:28.420
in action in action but i don't think in thought i think politics are downstream of culture and i'm
00:33:37.000
hopeful that the culture is finally changing i think the other side overplayed their hand quite a
00:33:41.900
bit yeah um yep i what do you think are things no i really agree with you go ahead yes i agree with
00:33:48.840
you completely um i'm feeling it i'm seeing in every poll um when you do a poll anywhere from 70 to 90
00:33:58.560
percent of people agree with me they agree that you should compete on the basis of the body you're
00:34:06.340
born with on the basis of biology your ideology shouldn't have anything to do with women's sports
1.00
00:34:11.640
just like always never religion never mattered political that like it was always men or women
00:34:18.300
right so i think daniel smith is only the first politician to pick up on it and if they're very honest
00:34:27.020
with themselves whether it's ndp ucp or federally ndp liberal conservative if they do their own polling
00:34:34.420
honestly they will see that if some 80 percent of the canadian public is not on board with gender
00:34:43.020
ideology in terms of you know men and women's sports and all that as far if it depends how you
00:34:47.260
ask the question if you think that everybody should be respected for their unique personality or identity
00:34:53.660
of course we all do but what it means in practical terms as far as inserting another kind of person or
00:35:00.760
allowing people to jump categories whether that's jumping from men's male category to female category
00:35:07.480
in sports or now we see it jumping age categories so identifying as a little girl like a 50 year old
00:35:14.120
man identifying as a little girl so he's jumping the sex category and jumping the age category i mean can
00:35:22.620
you imagine an nhl player player self-identifying as a 12 year old it just so ridiculous like it
00:35:30.760
i mean come on like they they've pushed it sheila they have pushed it so far and they become so
00:35:39.000
ridiculous they've made it obvious for the public once you start paying attention to it it they've
00:35:45.340
made it pretty obvious to canadians that they're they're not right that they're on the wrong side of
00:35:51.340
history and very clearly and it's just going to be one of those fads where we say that was so 2020s
00:35:56.400
yeah it's going to be like the satanic panic of the 2020s where we realized oh my goodness we were
00:36:03.580
swept into madness and people nearly went to jail over because they misgendered somebody it's
00:36:09.360
i think we are going to look back with the clarity of hindsight and think what a crazy time
00:36:16.640
it's really crazy yeah thanks to trudeau and as soon as he can go on the better i'm sorry i'm
00:36:23.920
speaking from my own heart but that man has done more damage in terms of of allowing the people with
0.99
00:36:30.100
this ideology to push him around to do all their bidding and legislation i don't even think he believes
00:36:36.060
it frankly no i don't think so either i think he trudeau's only ideology is power and i think he
00:36:45.360
only believes in power because he is entitled and he thinks it's his birthright i don't think he wants
00:36:51.800
to lead the country he just wants to be the most powerful man in it well he said he's a little bit
00:36:57.060
bored and yeah i mean he doesn't want to pay attention we need to move on from this crazy business like
00:37:04.460
i don't know i think it's just the people using him to you know like the the worst of the progressive
00:37:09.920
misogynists uh using trudeau for their own ends and it's going to be the ruin of the liberal party
00:37:17.260
and ndp i mean seriously if they keep going down this track can't they see how they're dropping in
00:37:22.540
the i don't know i just feel like it's just we're so close to being done with this from your lips to god's
00:37:29.960
ears linda you know and you know somebody asked ralph klein once what his like the secret to his
00:37:37.640
political success was yeah and he said show me the parade that's marching and i'll jump in front of it
00:37:44.140
and lead it sure politicians out there this parade is marching don't let danielle smith be the only
1.00
00:37:50.540
person leading it jump in front of it it's marching it's your political success it's it's the next wave of
00:37:57.460
politics i'm telling you and if you want to be ahead of it jump in front now because it's coming
00:38:03.520
fast the wave is coming in it's a big tsunami coming and you better get ahead of it well and
00:38:08.640
it spans ideologies so and people whom you wouldn't normally think would get along with each other
00:38:14.200
we saw this during the parents rights marches all across the country you'll go to those things and
00:38:19.080
think new people would probably cross the street to avoid walking on the same side of the street as
00:38:24.260
each other but they are united in defense of their children they don't want their children
00:38:29.080
sexualized by activist teachers in the classroom and so it was people from all walks of the political
00:38:34.020
life christians right-wingers social conservatives muslims new canadians seeks into canadians
0.52
00:38:40.160
like chinese immigrants everybody was saying just leave the little ones alone i think this is an issue
00:38:46.400
just like that where it doesn't even matter where you fall down on the political spectrum
00:38:50.120
reality is a thing that doesn't really have politics attached to it turns out they all have
00:38:56.040
children and they know exactly where they came from
00:38:58.380
there's not a single person in canad i had a i had a um cpr course during covid and and the
00:39:08.760
instructor was great he was an ex uh ems guy but all of a sudden like he was very woke and all of a
00:39:13.480
sudden he said in the middle of our course oh because he was talking about how to palpate for the
00:39:17.700
breast like the male like when you're doing when you're doing the heart pump thing um how you treat
00:39:24.700
a female body a male oh and by the way he says there's actually more than one gender you know
00:39:28.440
and he gave it or the two genders you know and he gave a smart smile and leaned up against blackboard
00:39:32.320
and he goes like there's male female and those in between and i had to challenge it i mean i'm sitting
00:39:39.480
there oh man he melted down he went right to the racist card you're so racist like i like i didn't even
00:39:46.580
say anything about race he and he said i think i think this warrants uh a 15 minute break so we can
00:39:52.100
all cool down like i didn't need the break he's the one that needed the break yeah so i mean the thing
00:39:57.780
is but i said to him in that argument i said to him listen there's not a single person canada show
00:40:04.360
me one person in canada that has been born other than the union of a man and a woman other than male
00:40:10.420
there's there's a male gammy there's a sperm and an egg there's no spag there's nothing in between
0.89
00:40:15.140
so oh boy that made him mad but you know what hey um you know that's the way it goes yeah uh and
00:40:24.140
and uh you know you got to call it out and all those parents marching on i think that was september 20
00:40:30.700
last year amazing turnout and they are all people that know exactly where children come from
00:40:37.220
they all know that there's a man and a woman and that's y'all that's what it takes to create a new
0.78
00:40:41.480
human being a new canadian and um we're just not going to be fooled anymore by the stupid sort of
00:40:47.260
gaslighting all the time now linda where can people find the important work that you're doing because
00:40:53.100
you're in a bunch of different places you've got a book on sporting which i'll put a link to the book
00:40:58.520
in the description of this video but where else can people find you well i think they should just read
00:41:04.520
the book yes and then they can find me at at coach blade on twitter those are my sort of outlets uh i
00:41:11.720
am moving out of the country soon for a different thing contract uh overseas helping united nations
00:41:17.520
with an agriculture program uh with my husband so i mean i'm not going to be in country too much
00:41:23.800
longer but you can always i'll never stop being coach blade on twitter as long as i'm there unless i
00:41:29.880
get kicked off for some reason i haven't been in all this time and magically it's never happened um
00:41:35.480
uh and uh yeah read the book on sporting i think it'll explain a lot and it'll help you get on board
00:41:41.800
with what's been happening in canada well linda i appreciate so much just how outspoken you are and how
00:41:48.520
firm you are in your defensive reality and just the important work that you do on behalf of our sisters
00:41:56.120
and our friends and our daughters i i from my family to yours i just can't thank you enough
00:42:03.340
thank you sheila i appreciate it yeah well i appreciate your support and and the opportunity
00:42:08.880
giving me the opportunity to just speak my mind obviously uh and uh let's hope let's hope daniel
00:42:15.980
smith other premiers i think this fight this battle can really be won on the ground that ground level and i
00:42:21.240
think that's where it should be fought so yeah yeah let's go and daniel smith is i mean all the
00:42:28.100
arrows are pointed at her right now the mainstream media the progressives the activists they're all
00:42:32.700
pointing their arrows at her let us hope let us hope she does not falter well she she will try to
00:42:40.620
find maybe a middle ground on some areas but i think we need to be very strong in supporting her and
00:42:44.980
giving her clear insight uh as to where to go next because she is under attack and please support
00:42:51.540
those politicians anybody who's listening out here when the next politician steps up please support
00:42:56.320
them because it is a very vulnerable time uh even though they will be the heroes in the long run so
00:43:01.700
um hang in there daniel smith hang in there mr higgs and that premier mo like all those people who
00:43:07.720
are standing up keep going keep going because uh you're you're on the right track perfect i'm going to

a lot to say about coach linda i'm i'm recording this fresh off the interview with her i haven't
00:44:37.600
seen the fully produced version of our interview as i'm saying these words and my head is still
00:44:45.480
swirling around with her arguments about men participating in women's sports because she comes
00:44:54.480
at it from but you know as a scientist's mind she's a kinesiologist and an athlete she's walked
1.00
00:45:03.320
all over this issue she's a woman she was a trailblazer in her sport when nobody even cared
1.00
00:45:09.100
about women's sports and now she's seeing women's sports being snatched away from the very women who

worked so hard to build them so i'm sure you'll have a lot to say i have a lot to think about myself
00:45:23.640
uh now today's gun show letter comes from the email inbox and it comes on a show i filmed
00:45:31.980
two weeks ago with my friend tom harris from the international climate science coalition that man has
00:45:37.820
a soothing voice by the way if you're listening to the podcast version of the show he is such a cool
00:45:45.300
cucumber and his voice has that certain tone that even when he's talking about things that we should
00:45:50.840
all find very stressful and we should you know the government is taxing us to change the weather
00:45:55.660
his um reasoned approach and the tone of his voice convinces me that we are truly winning you know that
00:46:05.760
and his reasonable arguments that he's making anyways tom's uh the whole crux of tom's show was
00:46:12.520
that we should not concede the language to the other side we shouldn't concede the language of climate
00:46:18.620
change to the left we shouldn't be calling it carbon pollution we couldn't we should not be
00:46:23.540
calling the carbon tax a price on pollution because carbon dioxide is not pollution it's plant food
00:46:30.740
everybody knows that even the left knows that because for them i mean even they know that taxing
00:46:38.520
you won't change the weather taxing you will make you poor and transfer your money to someone else that's
00:46:44.560
all that's happening here it's the whole watermelon syndrome there's green on the outside but the red
00:46:49.260
light commies on the inside it's all the same agenda steve writes to me hi sheila enjoy your show
00:46:56.920
as someone from ontario it would be nice to discuss it as well but i understand the focus on alberta it
00:47:02.360
really does take a beating when it comes to the federal government the reason i focus on
00:47:06.560
uh alberta when i talk about the federal attacks through climate change is that it's one of two
00:47:17.060
the oil and gas sector one of our two key industries here the other one being agriculture and they're both
00:47:23.560
under attack for the same reason climate change so oil and gas you know we've got emissions caps carbon
00:47:29.840
taxes um the impact assessment agency blocking our oil and gas infrastructure and then we've got
00:47:39.560
the carbon tax how it affects farmers and farmers are price takers not price setters so a lot of those
00:47:46.080
additional input costs we cannot pass along to the consumer because um it is what it is you know if
00:47:53.740
you're a grain farmer you sell your grain into the world market for the price that day and the world
00:47:59.600
market doesn't care that you had to pay more for grain drying because of justin trudeau's carbon tax
00:48:04.760
so that's why i talk a lot about alberta when i talk about bad climate change ideas because we are
00:48:11.920
just hammered from the left and the right and not politically speaking i mean from all sides
00:48:16.760
on the issue and it's you know frankly i'm going to be honest with you it's one
00:48:21.420
i have a foot in both of those worlds so um that's why i talk about them because i am a farmer
00:48:29.540
my family's in the oil patch so that's why so thank you for your patience with me as i
00:48:36.580
evangelize alberta to the rest of the country anyway i listened to the climate change episode
00:48:43.420
where it was discussed what federal conservatives should do to change the narrative one thing i
00:48:48.740
always find interesting is no one speaks about the real science well tom does from my research it is
00:48:54.880
agreed by all sides that co2 levels follow temperature i heard that too i've seen that at
00:49:01.680
friends of science presentations uh where they have geoscientists talking about the levels of co2
00:49:11.220
in the atmosphere based on the geological record and the fossil record that shows that
00:49:17.840
co2 levels follow the rise in temperature not the other way around which is the way that the
00:49:26.380
liberals would have us believe in studies from yeah see look at this in studies from thousands of ice
00:49:33.960
core samples it has been proven in peer review that the temperature rises and then it takes the co2
00:49:39.500
levels up to a thousand years to start to rise a scientist then tried to dispute this study and
00:49:45.940
decided that it is not a thousand years but could be as low as 50 years somehow thinking this would
00:49:52.700
prove co2 causes temperature rise but all he did was verify co2 is not the cause of the rise of
00:49:57.920
temperature anyway i could go on and on but the reality is co2 is only 0.04 percent of our atmosphere
00:50:04.660
keep up the great work steve yeah it is crazy how just like the statistical rounding error fraction
00:50:12.320
of our atmosphere has become the great green boogeyman but as i said it's really not about co2 at all it's
00:50:22.340
about a tax that is ubiquitous that touches everything in our lives which will control everything in our
00:50:31.880
lives and take more money from our pockets so that the liberals can just sprinkle it around
0.97
00:50:37.160
everywhere else it's a big wealth transfer and if you attach it to the atmosphere then you've truly
00:50:45.160
truly attached it to everything and if you'd like to sign our petition against justin trudeau's
00:50:50.380
tax on everything go to stop the carbon tax dot com well everybody that's the show for tonight thank
00:50:55.580
you so much for tuning in i'll see everybody back here in the same time in the same place next week
00:50:59.300
and as always don't let the government tell you that you've had too much to think
