Rebel News Podcast - SHEILA GUNN REID ｜ Michelle Stirling on the green war on cities

00:00:00.000 Well friends, it sounds like the green movement is trying to malnourish you

00:00:03.440 one more time. I'm Sheila Gunn-Reed and you're watching The Gunn Show.

00:00:24.400 Why does your mayor want to tell you how many calories you can consume in a day and

00:00:28.980 where those calories should come from? An initiative called C40 Cities involves mayors

00:00:34.860 in big cities all across the world that have signed on to a climate scheme to quote

00:00:39.560 confront the climate crisis and create a future where everyone can thrive.

00:00:44.660 And this initiative touches on every aspect of a city's resident's life from nutrition

00:00:50.840 to transportation to house size. The tentacles of the green movement are fully entangled

00:00:56.860 in municipal governments and it shows. Calgary recently signed on to an $87 billion climate

00:01:02.920 plan. Ottawa's climate plan is more than $60 billion and that's Ottawa the city, not Ottawa

00:01:08.880 as an avatar for all of the Canadian government. No one campaigned on these plans municipally,

00:01:15.740 but voters, well, they've got to pay for them and outside of the cities.

00:01:19.360 The government is the sharp end of the spear in the green war on modern agriculture. Trudeau

00:01:24.640 recently announced that nitrogen caps that we've seen slapped on Dutch farmers, which caused

00:01:29.720 uprisings in the streets, are now coming to Canada. Farmers will have to limit fertilizer

00:01:34.540 use as though we're already using too much of it. Yeah, right. It's so expensive. Farmers

00:01:39.800 might have to cull livestock. They'll suffer smaller yields, which will also drive up the price 0.79

00:01:45.280 of food for the consumer while farmers suffer financial losses. It's starvation and economic

00:01:51.120 collapse by design. Joining me tonight to discuss the green war on cities, cars, farms, and in

00:01:58.180 the end, humanity is my friend, good friend of the show, Michelle Sterling from Friends of Science.

00:02:11.340 So joining me now from her climate cabin in the woods is my friend, Michelle Sterling from Friends

00:02:18.060 of Science. And I wanted to have Michelle on because on her incredible YouTube page, the Friends

00:02:23.280 of Science YouTube page, they break down these complex ideas in a way that normal people can

00:02:28.900 understand and provide arguments you can take off into the world when you encounter climate alarmists.

00:02:36.040 And right now, the city of Calgary has an enormous climate change plan. I think it's $87 billion

00:02:44.680 is the total cost in the end. And I don't remember that being

00:02:49.860 an election issue for the residents of Calgary. And I think it stems directly from the so-called

00:02:57.720 non-binding climate emergency that new mayor Gioti Gondek declared after she was elected. They say these

00:03:03.800 things are non-binding, but then they build all these expensive policies on them after. Michelle, thanks

00:03:09.340 so much for coming on the show. I really needed an expert to help us with this sort of stuff. We'll talk about

00:03:14.260 this. We'll talk about the war on farming. And before we came on air, you had a really great

00:03:21.260 assessment of why these things sort of build out of municipal politics and why activists focus on

00:03:28.900 municipal politics. Well, you know, the municipal level politician is very accessible, first of all.

00:03:36.840 So, you know, your ward councillor or alder person is right in your neighbourhood, right? You maybe

00:03:44.600 knew them before they even got elected. So, you know, it's quite accessible to bump into them on the

00:03:50.500 street, to go to their office. You don't, you know, it's not a long, complicated sort of lobbying

00:03:56.280 process like it is at the provincial or federal level. And you don't have to be registered.

00:04:02.300 And you can be a 16-year-old like Sadie Vipon, Dr. Vipon's daughter. You can go and make a

00:04:09.020 presentation to City Hall and they'll listen to you. They won't listen to Friends of Science Society

00:04:13.900 made of, you know, a group made of professional engineers and professional geoscientists and

00:04:19.720 scientists of other disciplines. But, you know, your daughter can get in there. And part of it is that

00:04:29.000 there's like these climate hubs that have been put together all across the world in various cities.

00:04:35.720 And of course, there's the Calgary Climate Hub. Dr. Vipon used to be the president or leader of it.

00:04:42.380 I'm not sure how it's organised. But these groups are funded and organised by Al Gore's Climate Reality.

00:04:49.480 So, you know, there's a very strong international network. And yet it's going into the municipal level

00:04:56.500 politics. And why? Well, there's the municipal bond market is one factor. And all of the municipal

00:05:06.800 pension funds are the others. Because there's a group called the United Nations Principles for

00:05:13.860 Responsible Investment. And these are institutional investors that are handling pension funds. So,

00:05:20.460 there are about 1,000 signatories. And they sit on about $90 trillion in assets under management.

00:05:28.380 And the UNPRI is pushing ESG and, you know, environment, social governance goals for everyone,

00:05:36.360 every level of government, every corporation, and even every person. So, you can see how this

00:05:43.000 transnational, unelected, unaccountable organisation through these local groups that are quite activist

00:05:52.980 can easily access City Hall and make their case there. And the other factor is that most cities

00:06:00.360 have a university or a few of them. And there's all these academics there pumping out all their wild

00:06:08.120 and crazy social sciences ideas on how to transform the world. And they even here say, to transform

00:06:16.120 cities, support civil society. So, you know, civil society are all these NGOs and community activists,

00:06:23.680 community groups. And it would be great if they would be transforming, say, the homeless section of

00:06:29.880 downtown, working with those people and helping them. There are some, you know, civil society groups

00:06:35.940 that are doing that. But in fact, these people have been activated to try and save the planet and stop

00:06:43.520 you from having a stake or driving downtown. And that's where the problem comes, because they're

00:06:48.440 not elected. You never elected them. They're not accountable in any way. So, you know, if this $87

00:06:55.240 billion plan falls apart, they never have to pay for it. In fact, Calgary is an excellent example,

00:07:03.280 because in 2010, they had this group called Imagine Calgary, which is partly civil society and partly

00:07:10.520 in-house. And they put out a report called Sustainability 2020. Sustainable Calgary 2020.

00:07:20.580 And they predicted that there would be economic prosperity for everyone by 2020. So, this plan was

00:07:27.400 done in 2010. And in 2020, the downtown of Calgary is completely gutted of industry. The tar sands

00:07:35.960 campaign has destroyed most of the big oil and gas and the small oil and gas companies in Alberta

00:07:42.580 and the oil sands reputation worldwide. And the mayor and council seem to be off on this green streak,

00:07:51.520 you know, willing to put wind turbines up and solar panels everywhere. But when no one ever voted for

00:08:00.560 that, no one ever voted for the climate emergency. In the presentation that I did, you'll find that the

00:08:07.180 person who wrote the presentation said, you know, if this was so important, why wasn't it an election

00:08:12.160 issue? The climate emergency was declared immediately after the election. So, obviously, people had been

00:08:18.460 working on it for some time in the background. So, that seems to be a breach of public trust in my

00:08:23.540 view. But back to you. Yeah, no, before we move on, I just want to touch a little bit on these ESG

00:08:31.220 goals because, you know, you're talking about it and some people are talking about it. I think more

00:08:36.780 people need to be talking about these. I think it's environmental sustainability and governance goals.

00:08:42.680 What it amounts to is a green social credit scheme, really.

00:08:48.640 Yes, it is. Yeah. And so, it starts evaluating corporate activity based on certain very subjective

00:08:58.460 values and morality issues, which have nothing to do with the bottom line. And ironically,

00:09:04.980 Steve Sukup, who wrote the dictatorship of woke capital, and also actually Vivek Ramoswamy, who's on the same

00:09:16.700 case, they both pointed out that actually, this is another great book. They both pointed out that ESG

00:09:28.400 goals actually violate certain laws in the United States, which require pension fund trustees to make

00:09:38.660 sure that the investments get the best possible return for shareholders, not that they save the

00:09:44.940 planet or do some airy-fairy thing that these ESG goals want to accomplish. And in order to accomplish

00:09:53.500 this ESG, people are not aware of this, but now they're really starting to count carbon molecules.

00:09:59.780 I'm serious about this. There's a whole international body that's dedicated to establishing scope one,

00:10:07.580 two, and three of a company's emissions. So, that means scope one is what materials you consume that

00:10:16.040 have GHG emissions. Scope two is the emissions involved in making whatever it is. Scope three is

00:10:23.340 whatever your customers do with it. Well, a friend gave me an example the other day,

00:10:28.580 and that was, say, potato growing. I'm a farmer. I grow potatoes. I know how much gas I put in my

00:10:34.180 tractor. I know how much it costs me to plant and harvest. And so, I can evaluate all of that.

00:10:40.440 But when I sell it to you, the customer, I don't know if you're going to bake it,

00:10:44.120 if you're going to fry it, if you're going to make it into chips, if you're going to turn it into

00:10:49.220 bagged potato chips or boil it or, I don't know, and all of those have different energy uses. And

00:10:54.440 the problem is, all these ESG goals and all this kind of reporting is also tied to legal liability.

00:11:02.340 So, if I sell you a bag of potatoes, and I think you're going to make them into chips,

00:11:06.560 and I evaluate scope three that way, but you, in fact, turn them into something else that uses more

00:11:12.600 GHGs, I'm legally liable, because I misled the public. So, you see how this could be,

00:11:20.520 well, a windfall for environmental lawyers, for one, but, you know, a nightmare for any

00:11:28.840 company or individual, especially small farmers. But these are the mandates that are being forced

00:11:34.760 upon people. And for what? To count carbon molecules when carbon dioxide is not the main

00:11:41.720 driver of climate change. It's a consequence of climate change. It's only nominally a driver.

00:11:48.460 You know, and this all sort of leads into the next thing I want to talk about, and that's this

00:11:52.580 C40s cities nonsense. I saw it on Twitter. I thought, this cannot even be real, but it is. And it's this 0.95

00:12:00.240 group of cities and mayors, again, who have committed to these climate change goals. And it's a global

00:12:09.280 network of mayors taking urgent action, I'm reading from their website, to confront the climate crisis

00:12:14.500 and create a future where everyone can thrive. And one of those cities, along with Shanghai,

00:12:22.000 ironically, is Toronto. Delhi's in there too. Ho Chi Minh City's in there. Mexico City.

00:12:28.420 Wuhan.

00:12:28.880 Wuhan. Wuhan. Wuhan. And some of this stuff is crazy. So one of the things that they're talking

00:12:37.100 about is food systems. And they have said that, you know, the average allotment, it's funny because

00:12:44.520 you've been talking about people having, you know, a carbon budget, according to, you know, the climate

00:12:50.340 change control freaks in our lives, that people should have a climate budget. Well, now your caloric

00:12:55.660 budget is tied to your climate budget, where in these documents, they say that people are supposed

00:13:01.940 to consume about 2,500 calories a day. Right now, the mayors have said that too much of that is from

00:13:09.100 the things you need, like dairy and eggs and meat. And so in their goals, 2,500 calories, your caloric

00:13:18.140 allotment, according to your carbon FICO score, it's going to be, it's, it has to be completely

00:13:25.900 from animal sources. And all of this. Animal or plant? Or sorry, from plant. Thank you for

00:13:32.760 correcting me. It's all very confusing. Yeah. Although I suppose unless those animals are

00:13:37.600 crickets. I mean, it's the most bizarre thing ever. Yes. Well, you know, there, what's happened

00:13:45.300 is that they realize, I mean, on, on one level, it's true that cities are the largest concentration

00:13:51.760 of populations. It's true that very dense, huge cities like say Tokyo or Shanghai or any of these

00:14:00.060 cities where you actually have millions of people living, you know, they do have complex problems in

00:14:05.440 managing everything about the city, because that's a lot of people. So it's not entirely ridiculous to

00:14:14.900 be concerned about the environmental impact or climate impact of a city. But it is ridiculous 0.94

00:14:22.700 to become an eco-dictatorship in order to accomplish, you know, efforts to try and reduce

00:14:29.380 emissions or, or better manage things in the city. And really, you know, cities are supposed to take

00:14:36.980 care of municipal affairs, sanitation, lighting, road clearing, road maintenance, you know, parks,

00:14:47.280 the, the fundamental things that people pay taxes for, they shouldn't be going off on these wild

00:14:53.240 tangents that cost a lot of money and really do nothing to actually manage the city.

00:14:58.600 Yeah, it's, it's bizarre. I mean, when I'm looking at the C40 initiative, they, I'm not sure why John

00:15:08.340 Tory, the mayor of Toronto should be concerned about supporting an overall increase of healthy plant

00:15:14.300 based food consumption in our cities by shifting away from unsustainable unhealthy diets. Now you want

00:15:21.020 to talk about reducing food waste. I think that's probably a municipal issue. Composting food waste.

00:15:29.420 Sure. I'm willing to hear those arguments, but I'm not sure why this is a concern of your local

00:15:38.760 mayors, unless this is part of a broader agenda to use climate change and carbon taxes to control every

00:15:47.720 aspect of our lives from how far we drive, to who we interact with, to the things we eat.

00:15:53.940 Well, I think that that is it. And also probably to stimulate some new product or naturally, you know,

00:16:03.000 because if you look through this, you find that Bloomberg is very prominent as a funder of the

00:16:08.820 C40. And he's very, Michael Bloomberg himself is very prominent as, you know, speaking at these events

00:16:16.880 and bringing all these mayors together. And he and his colleagues, Bloomberg and his colleagues are

00:16:22.980 deeply into renewables. You know, Matthew Nisbert wrote a whole thing about strategic philanthropy

00:16:31.700 in the post cap and trade era. And he's got all the big philanthropies there, and they're all pushing

00:16:38.980 for global cap and trade systems. So all these things are related to that ultimate goal. And they're

00:16:45.780 also related to the new products that they want to bring on the market, like electric vehicles.

00:16:50.780 So it is conceivable to think that many of these municipal funds, the bonds, the pension plants

00:16:58.620 are invested in some way, either directly or indirectly in these products. And so the public

00:17:06.620 think, oh, well, taxes are going up, but that's okay, because we're saving the planet. And we're doing

00:17:11.440 the right thing for our kids. But in fact, you're just making these guys rich and filling up the

00:17:17.920 unfunded pension liabilities that these pension funds have, that will, you know, continue to strip

00:17:25.220 you of your wealth, because nobody wants to talk about the catastrophic unfunded pension liabilities

00:17:32.320 for most public pension plans.

00:17:35.800 Now, I think that, you know, that sort of takes us into an earlier analysis done by Robert Lyman,

00:17:42.520 over at Friends of Science, on Ottawa's war on the car, because before Calgary was spending $87

00:17:49.100 billion on their climate emergency, Ottawa had declared a climate emergency. And I think theirs

00:17:54.920 is in the range of $60 billion. I can't believe I'm saying that, I can't believe I'm saying that

00:18:01.920 Ottawa is more reasonable in their spending than Calgary, but here I am.

00:18:06.000 They're slightly taller.

00:18:07.780 But theirs is so much to do with the war on the car. And for me, I see the war on the car as a war

00:18:15.420 on individual freedom, because, you know, once cars became affordable for the average person,

00:18:20.380 it opened up a world to the people who had never even left the town that they had ever grown up in.

00:18:26.520 And now we're going in the other direction where we don't want people driving, we don't want them

00:18:31.060 on the roads, and we want them using electrical buses that don't work in snowy conditions. I can't

00:18:37.260 wait for the first year of this. Yes, exactly.

00:18:40.060 This is the guy who I think has been consulting to all these people.

00:18:43.720 And this book is total madness. But in fact, what you just mentioned now,

00:18:48.660 I just ran across this this morning. Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google looks to a day not

00:18:54.000 too far off when millions of car share members summon cars electronically. After dropping off the

00:19:00.620 members at their destination, the driverless vehicles will automatically be dispatched to

00:19:05.520 their next pickup or proceed back to the nearest car share lot to charge their electric batteries and

00:19:11.520 await the summons. I've seen this movie, the cars kill all the people.

00:19:16.980 And it says here, why would anyone want to own and maintain an automobile when they could access a

00:19:22.220 driverless vehicle from a car sharing service at a moment's notice from their cell phone,

00:19:26.740 and have it ferry them effortlessly with GPS guidance to their destination,

00:19:32.100 paying only for the precise time they're using the vehicle? Well, I'll tell you why. Because I want the

00:19:37.500 freedom to get in my car whenever I want. I don't want to be tracked. I don't want some anonymous

00:19:43.680 robot driving me around. I like driving. I want to, in fact, I'd like to have a gear shift car again,

00:19:50.060 because it was so much fun, a manual. So, you know, it's my personal freedom. And if you live in the

00:19:56.980 city and you want to do Uber all your life, go nuts, have fun. But I don't. I like my car.

00:20:03.400 But this guy, he's consulted to Angela Merkel. He's very proud of that. And you know, the situation

00:20:10.560 that Germany's in right now, it's almost on its knees. It's on the verge of collapse. They're

00:20:15.760 closing, probably going to have to close the Ludwigshafen factory of BASF, the world's largest

00:20:25.160 manufacturer of chemicals and products that we use every day, 20,000 of them.

00:20:31.480 And because they just don't have enough natural gas. So they can't make the products and they don't

00:20:38.220 have enough power to run the factory. So this is 39,000 people will be out of work. And it's thanks

00:20:45.380 to climate astrology, rather than practical common sense. And this guy.

00:20:52.800 Well, I was reading the other day that in Germany, because of sanctions on Russian gas, which easily 1.00

00:21:03.040 could have been addressed if Canada would export liquefied natural gas, but that they are facing

00:21:11.020 basically rolling brownouts, that they are putting restrictions on the amount of hot water that you

00:21:18.160 can use to deal with the natural gas shortage. And that's all been because of their pursuit of green

00:21:25.400 energy. They've got plenty of coal that they could excavate and burn to create electricity that people

00:21:31.700 could use, but they've decided to move away from coal, become reliant on other forms of energy,

00:21:37.880 including Russian gas. And now they've gotten themselves in this big fat mess. And this just goes

00:21:42.500 to just how bad the green energy movement is for people and how energy security is world security.

00:21:51.740 That's right. And one thing I must point out to you that even if we had LNG terminals in Canada,

00:21:58.260 we could not ship LNG to Germany because they have never built an LNG receiving terminal,

00:22:06.960 if you believe it. They've relied entirely on the pipelines from Russia. And they didn't build those

00:22:12.920 terminals because the green faction saw the building of them as meaning that it would just be further

00:22:22.600 embedding fossil fuels in the future of Germany. And so now they're really, really stuck. And those

00:22:29.260 people already are suffering. I mean, you know, Marine Pools. Yeah.

00:22:32.960 In 2018, like we've got a little clip on our YouTube channel. He told us that people were spending Christmas

00:22:42.860 by a single candle because their power had been cut off. You know, and you see many farmers there

00:22:49.540 who initially jumped on the bandwagon for wind and solar because it provided extra income. Well, then the

00:22:57.540 subsidies were cut and some of them are losing their farms. Some of them are committing suicide

00:23:03.120 because, you know, they've been tricked into this renewable energy. We're going to be industrial

00:23:09.040 energy farmers, you know, but it doesn't work out because in fact, Germany is still running on coal.

00:23:17.640 It's still running on nuclear and it's running on imported nuclear from France and gas from Russia.

00:23:28.540 But the wind and solar that it has is very unpredictable and they can't operate it without

00:23:34.260 the fossil fuel and nuclear backup. So it's really a dead end game. And yet we actually just put out a

00:23:41.980 press release today. We're calling on Antonio Guterres to resign because he has been claiming that,

00:23:49.940 you know, because of the situation in Germany and Russia and the war with Ukraine, we should make a

00:23:56.500 fast move to renewables. He's in fact advocating for the world to go down the same suicidal path

00:24:02.780 as Germany. It's insane. No, I remember Morian's, I forget which documentary it was, where he pointed 0.96

00:24:11.880 out that besides this big mess with green energy in Germany, they're also incentivizing farmers to not

00:24:19.540 produce food, but produce foodstuffs that are used in biofuels, which then hurts the consumer at the

00:24:26.800 grocery store because limited arable land space is now used to produce things that could easily be

00:24:33.280 replaced by fossil fuels. That's right. And yes, the film is The Uncertainty is Settled. We have all

00:24:40.420 of his films on our YouTube channel. They're all free to watch. They're beautifully shot. They're

00:24:44.960 wonderful films, very insightful. But in that one, as kind of a test for himself, now, you know, just

00:24:51.740 remember, he'd been working overseas in brutal conflict countries where people were absolutely poor, all

00:24:59.060 over, you know, the Africa, South Asia, really difficult conflict countries where people actually came

00:25:07.200 and put a gun to his head. And he had to make decisions about what to do next. He comes back to Europe and

00:25:14.640 Germany and finds that, wow, you know, all these fields are filled with biofuels. I've got solar

00:25:23.460 panels and wind turbines in the farm. And his background is as a gardener and agricultural

00:25:31.000 expert. So he gives himself the test of, I wonder if I can buy a sack of potatoes in, you know, my region.

00:25:38.760 He jumps on the tractor and goes looking. He can't. There's no food there. And then he has another

00:25:44.300 encounter with kind of a local philosopher guy who says to him, you know, after World War II, at the end of

00:25:53.620 the war, people would come out here to the country with millions of dollars worth of jewels looking for a

00:26:00.760 sack of potato. Yeah. You know, that's how hungry they were. That's how important food security is. And we're

00:26:07.740 just abandoning that with these crazy climate plans. It's totally insane. It's so dangerous. People

00:26:16.140 don't understand. Like, we are right now eating last year's crop. So if we don't grow enough food

00:26:21.980 this year, nobody has food to eat next year. Yeah. And so on. And you need the seed crop from this

00:26:27.620 year's crop for next year's crop. But if you grow less this year, you'll have less to see next year and

00:26:33.280 on and on and on and on. So, you know, it's almost like the holodomor of the Ukraine under Stalin is

00:26:41.420 being repeated, but by these bizarre globalist forces and the green movement. I mean, it will result

00:26:49.600 in depopulation. It will result in millions of people dying. You know, I'm glad you mentioned that

00:26:56.820 because I do want to talk to you about these bizarre nitrogen targets that are being currently imposed

00:27:02.020 in Holland by Prime Minister Mark Rutte. But they are also going to be imposed on Canadian farmers

00:27:09.080 in Holland. They are suggesting that farmers may have to abandon portions of their land to meet these

00:27:16.300 targets. It's limiting fertilizer use, which limits their yield. And farmers are price takers, not price

00:27:22.740 makers. And they may have to call livestock to get themselves under these emissions targets. And

00:27:28.460 Justin Trudeau sees an uprising in Holland. He sees riots in Sri Lanka and says, why don't I do that

00:27:34.700 too? And so he's imposing nitrogen targets on Canadian farmers. And, you know, I've been reading

00:27:40.160 the book Green Murder by Ian Plymer. And it's all in there that this this really these environmentalist

00:27:49.040 policies, be it through energy shortage or food shortages. It really is the most anti-human

00:27:56.380 genocidal movement in modern history. Yes. And just from our press release, actually,

00:28:05.600 according to Paraguayan agricultural expert, Albrecht Glatzel, he's published a number of items.

00:28:14.580 And he said that the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization has never done a proper

00:28:21.600 baseline of emissions for livestock. And so that means that they just made assumptions about, oh,

00:28:28.980 well, we have so many livestock today. So this must be the emissions. They never went back and looked at

00:28:34.260 the state of nature before. Like, for instance, in North America, there used to be about 100 million

00:28:38.940 buffalo running all over the place that declined to about 1000 toward the end of the 1880s. And those

00:28:47.220 herds have now largely been replaced by domestic livestock. But, you know, there's no proper assessment

00:28:53.220 of how things were before we began the kind of farming that we have now. And there's also a US

00:29:01.740 Department of Agriculture report, which looks at the European farm to fork policy, that's what it's

00:29:09.220 called. And in that, they found this was done in 2020, they found that if the farm to fork policy was

00:29:17.520 adopted globally, it would drive up food prices 89%, which in turn would increase the number of food

00:29:24.800 insecure people in the world's most vulnerable regions by 22 million, if it was only the EU that

00:29:31.040 adopted it, or 185 million people if adopted globally. It's terrible. I mean, it's just, and it's not,

00:29:42.120 it's not the elites that will starve. They're fine with their five kids and their beachfront houses.

00:29:48.460 It is people who are going to be forced into, as you always say, eat heat or eat poverty. And they

00:29:56.740 won't even be able to make that choice, because they'll be so nutritionally insecure, they will be

00:30:03.080 eating and starving eating what they call their planetary diet, but still being so nutrient deficient

00:30:10.420 that they're still starving. That's right. And I mean, that was that report was done in 2020. So that's

00:30:17.020 before the conflict with Ukraine and Russia, where something like 25 to 30% of the world's wheat and

00:30:24.700 fertilizer comes from that region. And those wheat exports go to countries, some of those countries are

00:30:31.920 almost 100% reliant on that wheat. And the thing is, just like with energy, there's no extra wheat in the

00:30:39.040 system. You know, there's nobody who's got like a, wow, now we can get rid of all this surplus wheat. It's like,

00:30:45.100 at this point, people are going, um, we're not going to sell any more wheat to anybody. We'll just keep

00:30:50.540 it. Because we see what's coming. So India is not exporting any more wheat. They've put a ban on it.

00:30:57.520 So, you know, this is a very, very serious situation. And Canada is one of the world's breadbaskets.

00:31:05.200 And farmers, as you know, are mostly their farm families, they work very hard night and day. And

00:31:13.020 these guys are just going to run them out of business.

00:31:17.620 You know, it's, I was listening to Matt Walsh, um, from the Daily Wire the other day. And he said

00:31:23.840 something that I, I've always thought of, but I never quite knew how to put it into words. It is people

00:31:28.840 who are so far disconnected from the land making decisions for me about how I am to use the land

00:31:36.880 that I have stewarded for generations. They truly don't understand. They live in a concrete jungle

00:31:42.420 thinking that I have the same disregard for nature that they have when my livelihood relies on a healthy

00:31:51.220 ecosystem around me. Yeah. It's like, uh, you know, Catherine McKenna talking about, oh, you know,

00:31:56.780 there's all kinds of new things that farmers can do, like air seeding. It's kind of like,

00:32:00.940 yeah, we've been doing that for 20, 30 years, whatever it is. I mean, today's farming is so

00:32:09.300 modern and advanced. Um, you know, just everything. I mean, there's a really great video clip with, uh,

00:32:17.460 quick Dick McPick, a few, a few hot words in there, but, you know, he really does give a very good

00:32:24.240 explanation of how advanced it is and how farmers really care for their own land. Cause as you say,

00:32:31.300 that's where you make your living. That's where you get your crop from. And, you know, probably was

00:32:37.380 your, your parents or grandparents land and you inherited that heritage. You want to continue it,

00:32:43.440 uh, with love, with, uh, with care. So, um, you know, it's just insane. I, I don't know how we can

00:32:52.240 stop them. That's the big problem because, you know, these policies are coming from bodies that

00:32:58.560 are unelected, unaccountable, transnational groups like the world economic forum and, um, you know,

00:33:06.720 the, uh, uh, club of Rome with their alleged planetary emergency, you know, and they're all

00:33:13.300 advocating for wind and solar. And what happens often is, you know, they put the farmers in a corner,

00:33:19.340 make them, um, economically unstable. And then they come along and say, how about if we put a wind

00:33:26.820 farm on your land, how about some solar panels? Well, you know, if you've got to survive, you'll

00:33:31.920 probably say yes. So, you know, it's very interesting to me that the Prairie Climate

00:33:36.900 Center out of Winnipeg, which is funded by insurance companies that have investments in renewables is

00:33:43.720 pushing renewables on farmers. And they're also using the most catastrophic scenario called RCP 8.5

00:33:51.160 as if it's the business as usual scenario when it's not. So, you know, they're actually government

00:33:59.460 funded, they're funded by insurers, and they're misleading the public and they're leading farmers

00:34:05.780 down the garden path to the economic hell that's happening in Germany. Yeah. And that will lead all

00:34:13.180 of us into a food crisis, even here in Canada. Like, don't think that this is just going to happen

00:34:19.520 overseas to some poor countries. It will happen there, but it's coming here fast. 0.60

00:34:26.240 Oh, when you think about food shortages, and then already coupled with sky high food inflation,

00:34:31.400 you know, if there's food to buy at the grocery store, good luck if you can afford it.

00:34:37.060 And, you know, it's funny that you point out the scheme of the green movement to sort of force

00:34:42.260 farmers into putting wind turbines and solar panels on their land. That's why they attacked fracking so

00:34:49.380 hard. I don't know if you've seen the movie Frack Nation made by Phelan McAleer, but he sort of

00:34:56.240 documents how fracking and directional drilling and fracking saved so many Pennsylvania farmers from

00:35:05.220 ruination because they were still able to farm the land on top of the lease, the directional

00:35:12.440 drilling, the small pad for like a small drilling footprint for fracking. And the farmers were making

00:35:19.100 the royalties and they were able to hang on to their generational farms and still be productive

00:35:22.880 farmers while having this extra income stream. And the green movement doesn't like that because

00:35:29.440 they want solar panels on your land and not wheat and not cattle and not corn. And fracking made that 0.93

00:35:37.760 possible. Yeah, well, there are a number of grant documents associated with the Taurus fans campaign

00:35:45.760 So, you know, that was a big part of the Taurus fans campaign and also to shut down any dissenting voices

00:36:02.800 like you or me. Right.

00:36:05.280 So, and foreign funded. So, you know, it's, we're really in a bind. And now, you know, as we said in

00:36:14.200 our press release that climate activists used to be annoying, just annoying and expensive, but now

00:36:19.560 they're actually life threatening. Yeah. And, and for our politicians, you know, with the liberals in

00:36:26.720 power, they really stand to lose nothing by attacking farmers, because farmers don't vote for them. And,

00:36:31.820 and, you know, they're rich elites, they'll be fine at the grocery store, but the rest of us, we won't be.

00:36:37.300 That's right. Yeah. Yeah. So, it's, we're in a very compromised situation.

00:36:46.600 Yeah, very dangerous. And it'll be the least amongst us who feel the pain first, and the hardest.

00:36:54.280 Michelle, how do people support the work that you're doing over at Friends of Science? Because you've

00:36:59.300 been ringing the alarm bells about heat or eat poverty for years. The rest of us are just catching

00:37:06.460 up to you. Because now it's come to agriculture, they're attacking the farmers now. But long before

00:37:12.800 this, you know, people were being put in this compromised position through to just the sheer

00:37:18.180 prices of energy due to injecting unreliable green energy into the grid. So how do people support the

00:37:26.580 work that you do? Because as I said, off the top of the show, you're taking these big, huge ideas,

00:37:30.400 breaking them down so that people understand what this means in your family and in your neighborhood.

00:37:37.340 Well, thanks for that. And yes, in 2015, when the Notley government pushed for the 30% renewables in

00:37:46.040 Alberta, we told people that the power prices would triple. And sure enough, the average pool price

00:37:52.080 today is triple what it was in 2015. And that's from coal phase out. It's from the spike in natural

00:37:58.020 gas, and that we use more natural gas. And we have to import coal power from Saskatchewan, Montana,

00:38:04.680 and hydro from BC and pay for that. So, you know, that's a big failed policy that we warned about

00:38:10.760 then. And people said, Oh, you crazy climate deniers. Now they're all screaming. But think about that. 0.96

00:38:16.100 So you can help us out by becoming a member. You can give us a donation. We're in our 20th year of

00:38:24.640 operation. So if you'd like to give us 20 bucks, that would be great. If you can give us more,

00:38:28.900 great. And if you can't, why don't just share our stuff. And you can find us at friendsofscience.org.

00:38:36.540 You can find us on YouTube, on Twitter, on LinkedIn, on Instagram. I'm forgetting something.

00:38:44.800 Anyway, we're on most social media, mainstream social media. So, and we'd love to hear from you.

00:38:53.560 We also, you know, we don't mind if you have a different point of view. We're not trying to make

00:38:58.160 you think like us. We're trying to offer you ideas and insights to help you, excuse me, to help you

00:39:05.300 address these issues with your friends, families, and your elected officials. Because a lot of people

00:39:11.180 don't know the power grid, for instance, is very complicated. So it sounds great when people say,

00:39:15.940 oh, we're going to put free wind and solar on the grid. And then years later, you find out,

00:39:20.820 wait a minute, my power price just tripled. Why is that? I thought that was free. Oh,

00:39:24.860 it'll be free once we give more, get more of them up, then it will be free.

00:39:29.580 And we'll get off coal. Don't worry, we'll get off coal. But here we are importing cold,

00:39:33.600 coal-fired energy from Montana. Right. Yeah. So yeah, if you can help us out with 20 bucks for

00:39:42.140 our 20th year, that would be great. If you want to become a member, then you get our

00:39:46.020 CLI-Sci, which is a roundup of recent climate science, or our extracts, which is a roundup of

00:39:53.600 IPCC material that, you know, a lot of people don't know that the UN and the IPCC are always having

00:39:59.800 these conferences and making plans for you behind your back, never in the mainstream. But you'll

00:40:06.000 get insights from extracts on that. So, and those are put together by our volunteers, dedicated

00:40:12.040 volunteers. Yeah, you guys really do incredible work on a shoestring budget, and you're up against

00:40:17.780 the deep pockets of the foreign-funded environmental movement, but not just foreign-funded, funded by

00:40:23.320 our governments too. Michelle, thanks so much for taking the time. You're always so generous with

00:40:28.440 your time, and you really have a heart for the people who will be harmed by these out-of-control

00:40:34.100 climate policies. Thanks. Thanks, Sheila. Thanks, Michelle.

00:40:45.620 Well, friends, we've come to the portion of the show where we go looking for your viewer feedback.

00:40:51.420 One of the best ways to do that is to send it to me in the form of an email. Just send me an email

00:40:57.020 to Sheila at rebelnews.com. Put gun show letters in the subject line so I can easily find it. But

00:41:03.140 I also go looking for your comments on our Rumble videos as well. Today, I have two emails, actually,

00:41:10.440 that I want to read. The first one is from someone that will remain anonymous. He is a Catholic priest

00:41:16.580 in the Diocese of Calgary, who writes to me about my show with Adam Sos when I was covering for Ezra

00:41:25.460 Levant last week. And we were talking about the papal visit to Edmonton and some Indigenous

00:41:32.380 communities in and around Edmonton, and then Iqaluit, and then off to Quebec, and the reasons

00:41:38.060 for it happening. And the reason I'm keeping this priest's name anonymous is we know what the other

00:41:43.540 side of this does when they think they are, I guess, in disagreement. That's all it really takes.

00:41:51.020 A lot of these people were not wronged by anybody, but they just don't like the church. So they just

00:41:55.300 vandalize churches and burn them down. And I mean, these are the sorts of people who

00:41:59.980 shove pro-life women into the street. So I don't want to give out this priest's name. But I do

00:42:04.720 appreciate his candor and his comments to me. He's a Roman Catholic priest in the Diocese of Calgary,

00:42:11.340 and he appreciates that I pointed out on the Ezra Levant show the other night, the reason for

00:42:15.880 Pope Francis's visit to Canada stems from a lie, i.e. the mass grave discovery in Kamloops.

00:42:23.420 And that is true. It was initially reported as a mass grave. And now a year later, no bodies have been

00:42:33.560 recovered. It was gone from a mass grave to multiple graves to we haven't excavated anything. And if it

00:42:42.760 is what people say it is, then it's a crime scene and we need to investigate it that way. But they're

00:42:49.020 not. And I wonder why that is. Now, my new priest friend goes on to suggest that we interview some of

00:42:57.420 the authors of the following article from the Dorchester Review that breaks down some of the

00:43:03.840 alternative history regarding some of people's experiences in the residential school system.

00:43:11.540 The next letter comes from Mark. And Mark writes to me,

00:43:15.460 Hey, Sheila, another great show this past Wednesday. I believe they continue with the climate scare because

00:43:20.260 a scared population is easy to control. Well, this is in relation to my show with Tom Harris from the

00:43:25.480 International Climate Science Coalition. We were talking about his op-ed about how the

00:43:30.180 Conservative Party is doing a lot of conceding of the language of the left to the left on the

00:43:35.440 climate issue. Instead of talking about, you know, adaptation and resiliency, they are talking about,

00:43:41.900 well, the same climate apocalypse that the left keeps promising us is always coming, but never does.

00:43:48.600 Mark goes on to write, I don't like the way the Conservative Party is sounding more like the liberals

00:43:52.480 every day. I thought early on Pierre was a great choice for new leader. That's Pierre Polyev. But

00:43:56.580 now I'm not so sure. But on to a previous week about the ban on plastic bags. You guys, you know how I

00:44:02.640 could talk about the ban on plastic bags all day long because I find it so particularly loathsome.

00:44:08.440 Mark writes, We always reuse the plastic bags for burnable garbage, and I also use them on the road

00:44:13.920 for my dirty laundry. You know, my husband does that too, and I am reliably informed that there are

00:44:18.120 laundry machines in camp, but he's always bringing that dirty laundry home for me. I don't know what's

00:44:22.600 going on there. But then, of course, they get reused afterwards for the garbage too. Yes, I'm helping

00:44:28.240 add CO2 to the atmosphere by burning everything that can be and only taking non-burnable garbage to

00:44:33.780 the dump. Anyway, I look forward to next week's episode. And not to worry, I keep thinking so I

00:44:38.280 don't get manipulated. Yeah, yeah, the war on plastic is the war on convenience and sanitation.

00:44:46.740 It's just so ridiculous. It's really just a proxy war on oil and gas.

00:44:52.860 Anyway, if you'd like for me to read your letter on air, it's really easy. Just go

00:44:57.540 and send me an email at sheilaatrebelnews.com and I do my best to select them at random.

00:45:04.980 Well, everybody, that's the show for tonight. Thank you so much for tuning in. Thank you to

00:45:08.160 everybody in the office in Toronto and I guess around the country who works to put the show

00:45:12.620 together. We'll see everybody back here in the same time, in the same place next week. And remember,

00:45:18.240 don't let the government tell you that you've had too much to think.

00:45:42.620 We'll see you in the next week.
