When I used to hear people call their parents their "Folks" I thought it was old fashioned, something only country bumpkins said. It didn't even occur to me that the Volkswagen, a car I saw all the time, came from the German word "folk" which means "people." So who are your people? Well, it's your family, your tribe, your nation. And of course, culture doesn't come from a shopping mall or a TV. Folklore connects and roots us to the past.
