00:00:00.000 Hey guys, it is Allie. This is Relatable. Today we are going to talk about Israel,
00:00:06.600 the significance of Israel to Americans, the significance of Israel to Christians,
00:00:11.860 why the embassy move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem this week was so good and important. And we will
00:00:17.500 talk about the Jewish people in general as well. Then we will do a quick segment at the end.
00:00:24.120 Sorry that you're giving this podcast late today. It really, it makes me sad because I know a lot of
00:00:29.260 you listen to the podcast on the way to work or to class, I guess class is out now. Um, but on the
00:00:35.360 way to whatever you're doing in the morning, and I wasn't able to get it to you early enough today,
00:00:40.260 I'm sorry. We have a lot of information to cover and it required a lot of research to make sure
00:00:45.060 that I am correct on all of these things, which is why it's a little bit later. So regardless,
00:00:50.220 I hope that you enjoy it. Um, by the way, by the way, did you guys like how I just gave y'all an
00:00:56.360 intro at the very top telling you what we're going to be talking about today? Because I don't
00:01:00.900 usually do that. I usually launch into like a rabbit hole story or something like that. But
00:01:06.400 I was given some constructive criticism, some feedback about the beginning of my podcast. And
00:01:11.980 that feedback was that I should give you guys an introduction at the start to tell y'all the
00:01:17.320 topics that we are going to cover. Uh, the person who gave me this feedback, quite honestly,
00:01:21.840 was just like really good looking and super attractive and really persuasive. And I also
00:01:27.340 happened to live with this person to be married to him. So I decided to take his advice. So thank
00:01:33.480 you to my husband for that feedback. If you guys are thinking the same thing, you can thank my husband,
00:01:39.560 Timothy. Um, and so yeah, here we go. That's it. That's my intro. Uh, this is episode number 10.
00:01:47.640 I can't believe we've made it this far guys. You and me together, you guys are the best. I love
00:01:54.320 hearing your feedback. I love hearing what you think. Keep messaging me. If you have a thought,
00:01:59.160 I know some of you have thought like, Oh, I really want to message Allie about this,
00:02:02.920 but I don't know if she wants to read my message or, or I just don't want to do, I don't want to be
00:02:08.240 weird. It's totally not weird. And also you might just be kind of like me and you're just too lazy to
00:02:12.840 actually do it. I understand, but please send me your messages, whether it's on Instagram or send
00:02:18.240 me an email or whatever. I don't usually check Facebook messages, um, on my business page. So
00:02:24.860 email or Instagram is usually better, but I love getting your messages. Even if I don't always
00:02:30.100 respond, um, right away, or sometimes I don't respond at all because you can't actually see
00:02:35.020 all of your DMS on Instagram, unless you accept them. So just FYI, if I haven't responded to you,
00:02:40.940 it's not because I'm ignoring you. I love to get your guys's messages. And I said that weird,
00:02:46.420 sorry, your messages and your encouragement and all of that. So thank you so much. 10 episodes.
00:02:53.300 Here we go. Um, in case you don't know if this is your first episode ever, this is a podcast where
00:02:59.020 we address political and cultural issues from a Christian conservative perspective. Um, like I said,
00:03:05.040 it's Christian and conservative. So we're not pretending to be unbiased here. Although I do,
00:03:10.400 uh, make, uh, uh, as great of an effort as I can to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth,
00:03:17.020 even though I am a conservative and a Christian, I'm not going to shy away from things that are
00:03:21.400 uncomfortable or don't fit that particular narrative. Um, I want to be honest with you
00:03:25.600 guys because I'm learning along with you and it really doesn't, uh, service either you, uh, or me.
00:03:31.200 If we are only telling half of the story, um, sometimes the episodes are more political
00:03:36.740 and cultural. Sometimes they're more theologically focused, uh, just depends on the week. If you like
00:03:43.200 this podcast, or even if you just moderately tolerate this podcast, you should definitely
00:03:47.780 go to CRTV.com slash Allie. I have two videos every week where I give quick commentary and analysis
00:03:54.260 on relevant topics. Um, I also post parts of these videos on my social media, Twitter, Instagram,
00:03:59.840 Facebook. You can follow me if you so desire on all of those things. Uh, you can probably just
00:04:04.980 search Allie Stuckey on any of them rather than me telling you all of my handles. Um, okay, moving on.
00:04:11.480 Like I said, today we are going to talk about the significance of a historic event that happened
00:04:18.380 this week in Jerusalem between the United States and Israel. Um, president Trump in fulfilling a promise
00:04:24.460 that he made during his campaign officially moved the U S embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
00:04:31.100 Uh, we will be the only country in the world to have our embassy in Jerusalem. Virtually every
00:04:35.920 president since Truman has indicated that the U S should have the embassy in Jerusalem. Bill Clinton,
00:04:41.400 George W. Bush, Obama, most recently all said that they wanted to, but they caved under pressure
00:04:47.520 and they didn't actually do it. And there is significant pressure. Um, but Trump actually followed
00:04:52.140 through, which is seen as a huge victory for a lot of people and not just people who voted for him.
00:04:57.200 Um, most Jewish people in America, uh, feel that it was a victory. Most Christians in America and
00:05:03.040 virtually all Israelis, uh, feel that this was a victory. This is also just a big deal in general,
00:05:09.180 no matter what your background is, uh, for Trump supporters to see him follow through on another
00:05:14.660 campaign promise. Uh, but not everyone sees it as a victory. Shocking. I know Palestine,
00:05:22.040 uh, neighbors with Israel. They obviously don't see this as a victory. Uh, they've had armed
00:05:27.300 protesters in Gaza, which is a strip of land surrounded by Israel, but is occupied by the
00:05:32.160 Palestine, um, storming the border with these makeshift bombs and burning objects. Uh, the
00:05:38.500 militant terrorist group Hamas that runs Palestine is paying these people to cause chaos and even take
00:05:44.640 the lives of Israelis at the border or attempt to take the lives of Israelis at the border. Uh, but we,
00:05:49.560 you wouldn't really know that, um, if you were reading any of the headlines from the media or
00:05:54.300 watching any left-wing news source, they are all painting Israel as this aggressor, as taking the
00:06:00.180 lives of unarmed, innocent protesters, pictures of women and children, grieving, injured, dying.
00:06:06.720 And of course those pictures are put up right next to pictures of Ivanka and Jared, the Trump
00:06:11.820 administration celebrating the embassy move and, you know, their nice clothes and their smiles.
00:06:16.380 The point that the media is trying to make is of course, um, that Israel and the Trump crew are
00:06:23.160 cold hearted, that they're cruel, that they're complicit in murder. Uh, the anti-Israel bias in
00:06:29.000 the press is really stunning. I mean, it's, it's really something, uh, the UN human rights council,
00:06:35.000 who by the way is comprised almost entirely of people from dictatorships that violate human rights
00:06:40.920 on a daily basis. So let's just note that, uh, they have also condemned Israel for defending
00:06:45.980 its borders against violent Palestinians. Uh, the U S however, and by the U S, I mean,
00:06:52.180 Nikki Haley, our ambassador or UN ambassador, as well as, uh, the white house have reiterated that
00:06:57.840 the blame for the violence in Gaza is not because of Israel, but because of Hamas who has routinely
00:07:03.520 incited violence against its own people in Israel since its founding in 1987. Okay. So that is the
00:07:10.040 basic summary of what is going on. But the questions are, what the heck does that all mean?
00:07:15.240 Who is Israel? Why did we move the embassy? Why does Palestine care? Why do Christians care about
00:07:21.140 Israel? Why is America friends with Israel? Why are some people in America and elsewhere so
00:07:25.540 ridiculously mad about this? Why is the media acting a fool? Actually, you already know the answer
00:07:30.700 to that because many of them are fools. Um, but I am going to try to answer these questions as best that
00:07:37.280 I can. Now I will say, I do not have a degree in the history of Israel. There are people who have
00:07:44.380 been studying this for years and years and can go super in depth, but I am going to give you enough
00:07:49.780 information. I think to be dangerous about this topic. So you can go into work tomorrow and be like,
00:07:55.140 wow, I'm super smart. Especially when you talk to all of your liberal friends who think that they
00:07:59.680 know everything because they read one New York times headline this morning. So first question,
00:08:04.560 who is Israel? Well, Israel was founded as a Jewish state in 1948 after the Holocaust and World War II.
00:08:12.200 Uh, the world was very sympathetic to the cause of the Jews at this time because of all that they
00:08:16.880 had endured. And the UN agreed in 1947 that the Jewish people needed a physical homeland. Basically,
00:08:24.380 uh, there had already been a push for this about 30 years earlier in something called the Balfour.
00:08:29.580 I think I'm saying that Balfour, uh, declaration issued by the British government declaring Palestine
00:08:35.500 home to the Jewish people, but it didn't actually specify the making of an actual state. Um, so the
00:08:41.340 UN in 1947 created something called the partition plan for Palestine that made two separate states for,
00:08:48.320 uh, in the Palestinian region, one for the Jews and one for Arabs. Uh, Jerusalem though,
00:08:54.200 they made into something called an internationalized city, meaning that it was ruled by an international
00:09:00.040 regime. And so it didn't belong to, uh, either the Jews or the Arabs since both the Jews and the Arabs
00:09:07.020 consider Jerusalem holy for their own respective religious reasons. So it wasn't given fully to the
00:09:12.180 Jews. It wasn't given fully to the Palestinians. Uh, the Jews at this point were pretty excited about
00:09:17.300 this, but the Arabs that were, um, being, um, partitioned were not really very excited about
00:09:23.880 that. Uh, the Israelis declared Israel an independent state in 1948. So a year later,
00:09:30.200 uh, the Palestinians were not happy about that. So there was war, uh, that did not work out very well
00:09:36.320 for the Palestinians. Uh, during that war, Israel took over land that used to be the Palestinians.
00:09:41.400 And now Palestinians are really only in Gaza and the West bank after lots of, of different wars in
00:09:48.680 Israel taking over certain territories. Um, and Gaza and the West bank are really small portions of
00:09:53.460 the land compared to what they had in 1947. After the partition plan, um, the Arabs are occupied a
00:10:00.020 large portion of what was considered Israel, but that's not the case anymore. Now they barely have
00:10:04.540 anything. Um, the Israeli military is incredibly powerful and they have been successful so far in
00:10:11.180 securing what they believe. And I believe rightfully so to be their, uh, land given to them by God.
00:10:17.800 Um, Israel today is the same location that Israel was in the Bible. It is the land God gave the Jewish
00:10:25.420 people. So in claiming territory, they feel they are simply securing what is already theirs. Uh,
00:10:31.440 the Palestinian Muslims also feel that there is religious and historic significance to the land of
00:10:37.240 Israel for them. They believe it will one day be their Palestinian state. That is not looking too
00:10:44.220 good for them. That's not working out too well. Um, because of that, there has been lots and lots of
00:10:50.580 conflict over the years between Israel and Palestine, not to mention all of the other surrounding Arab
00:10:56.120 countries, uh, around Israel. In 1967, there was something called the six day war with Arab nations
00:11:02.660 against Israel where Jerusalem occupied, uh, further territories. Um, and by Jerusalem occupied
00:11:09.320 further territories. I mean, Israel occupied further territories, um, including East Jerusalem,
00:11:14.240 which was then claimed by the Palestinians. Um, so Israel took over all of Jerusalem. And if you
00:11:21.020 remember what I said just a few minutes ago, that the UN had Jerusalem under international rule
00:11:26.600 to force Israel and the Palestinians to share since they both see Jerusalem as holy,
00:11:30.980 but Israel occupied East Jerusalem and claimed the city as their capital city in 1967. And then in
00:11:38.640 1980, Israel enacted a law that declared officially Jerusalem, a complete city and the official
00:11:44.740 undivided capital of Israel. But the UN condemned this. They do not recognize this law and they still
00:11:51.900 consider East Jerusalem to be occupied territory rather than actually belonging to Israel. Uh, that
00:11:57.840 conflict is why there are no embassies in Jerusalem. It is a contested city. They instead have their
00:12:03.640 embassies in Tel Aviv, which is the hub for a lot of activity in Israel. Uh, but it is not the capital.
00:12:09.840 So in moving our embassy to Jerusalem, we are saying that we, the United States are on Israel's side,
00:12:16.660 that we recognize that Jerusalem is indeed Israel's undivided capital, not Palestine's. Uh, people are upset
00:12:24.600 about this because they say we are supposed to be seen as some kind of unbiased middleman that could
00:12:30.440 possibly help negotiate peace talks between Palestine and Israel. But the truth is we are not
00:12:36.780 an unbiased middleman. We are on Israel's side. Israel has been our ally since its founding. We were
00:12:43.400 the first country to recognize Israel as a nation when it declared its statehood just minutes after its
00:12:48.900 inception under president Truman. Truman was very sympathetic to, uh, the Jewish plight after world
00:12:54.560 war two. And one of his advisors, Clark Clifford urged him to recognize the state. Uh, some say this
00:13:01.980 was for votes. Others say he truly had a heart for the Jewish people. We did go to war and win a war
00:13:07.520 against the man who was massacring Jews. So we had already proven ourselves allies in that regard.
00:13:14.080 And we've had a pretty strong relationship since its founding. Now there was a bit of a riff in 1967
00:13:21.640 during that six day war that I told you about where the Israeli air force attacked an American
00:13:27.480 Navy ship, the USS Liberty in the Mediterranean, killing 34 American crew members. A lot of people
00:13:33.420 are still mad about that. Uh, the Israeli government said it was an accident. They said that they thought
00:13:38.840 the ship was an enemy Egyptian ship, but some people don't believe that, uh, survivors specifically
00:13:44.460 reject the claim that it was a mistake. It's hard of course, to dismiss a firsthand account, but I also
00:13:51.520 am not really sure what the motive would have been for Israel to do that. Uh, nevertheless, America has
00:13:57.960 largely accepted Israel's claim that it was an accident and Israel has made financial reparations for
00:14:05.680 that. They've paid us millions and millions of dollars, um, compensation, even, uh, for the
00:14:10.960 families of the men who were killed in that attack. Um, so we have, you know, we've reconciled
00:14:18.360 from that. So our relationship has really gone on. Uh, we have helped Israel majorly economically
00:14:24.020 and militarily, although their military is extremely strong in and of itself, which is part of why they
00:14:30.300 are a good ally for us. Uh, they've helped protect and maintain our interests in the Middle East.
00:14:35.440 It allows us to have a military foothold in the area. Uh, Israel has acted as a deterrent to Russian
00:14:41.720 influence in the Middle East. Russians have backed the Arab countries who hate Israel. They are our only
00:14:48.160 democratic ally in the Middle East. Um, Israel is a representative democracy. They are extremely
00:14:53.320 tolerant relative to their neighbors. Arab nations are bent on their annihilation, uh, to which Israel has
00:15:00.100 basically said, you know what, join the club. Nations have literally been out to obliterate us for as
00:15:06.080 long as we have been around. And it is a miracle the way they've been able to protect and preserve
00:15:11.480 themselves in the region. They haven't acted as aggressors like the media wants us to think, but
00:15:16.880 rather they have had to defend themselves countless times against hostile enemies. Um, Palestine
00:15:23.180 specifically has attacked Israel several times throughout history. Palestine is led now by a terrorist
00:15:28.720 militant group called Hamas who was elected. I'm using air quotes. I use that term loosely elected
00:15:35.200 in 2006, but has been raining absolute terror on their own people for more than a decade while also
00:15:41.040 provoking Israel. Uh, people around the world feel sympathy towards the Palestinians who have been so
00:15:46.420 often displaced and they should feel sympathy. It's, it's really sad what has happened, um, to the
00:15:52.780 Palestinians, but the blame for their plight does not fall on Israel. It falls on the Arab countries
00:15:58.420 and the Palestinians in power themselves who have caused so much suffering, not Israel. And yet that
00:16:04.360 is not the story that we see in the news. Instead, we hear about how mean Israel is and how wrong the
00:16:11.420 United States is in supporting Israel. Um, here are some headlines. Just a few headlines from this week,
00:16:16.640 New York Times, Israel kills dozens at Gaza border as U S embassy opens in Jerusalem, uh, HuffPo
00:16:23.580 embassy day massacre, New York daily news, daddy's little ghoul. And it's a picture of Ivanka smiling,
00:16:30.200 looking nice beside a picture that they've superimposed on her picture, um, of Gazans getting killed. NBC
00:16:37.400 scores dead in Gaza fence protests as U S moves embassy to Jerusalem. Um, another op-ed that I saw U S
00:16:45.460 embassy opening in Jerusalem is nailing coffin of peace process. The guardian, uh, Trump's new embassy
00:16:51.900 opens and dozens are killed daily mail bloodbath scores dead thousands wounded as Israel fires on
00:16:58.300 Palestinians protesting over Trump's new embassy. And then of course there was a press conference
00:17:05.620 yesterday with the white house, uh, where a reporter said that Israel was just firing indiscriminately,
00:17:11.820 which is absolutely incorrect. The correct headlines should be Israel defends itself against violent
00:17:19.300 Hamas funded protesters at border because that's, what's happening. That, that is what happened.
00:17:25.840 They had mostly young men at the border in Gaza throwing Molotov cocktails, which are these makeshift
00:17:31.520 grenades, other explosive devices, burning kites with swastikas on them, throwing these things into
00:17:37.300 Israel from Gaza. And, and, and what, what Israel was just supposed to stand there. They're supposed
00:17:42.600 to do nothing. I mean, I would really love to know the suggestions. I would really love to hear,
00:17:48.280 to hear what the people who are condemning Israel recommend for Israel to have done. Should they have
00:17:55.520 allowed their military to be possibly killed their border to be stormed? Is that the right thing to do
00:18:00.620 if you're defending your border? Um, an NPR correspondent in Gaza asked one of the Palestinians
00:18:06.000 why he had a swastika on the kite he was throwing. And the guy who was throwing it said, uh, the Jews go
00:18:11.860 crazy when you mentioned Hitler. And the correspondent, Steve Inskeep said, well, you know, they're just,
00:18:17.480 they're just using the kites with the swastikas on it against you guys. So he's trying to protect the
00:18:25.920 guy and change the narrative, uh, basically, uh, basically to do this. This doesn't fit with my
00:18:32.220 story that you Palestinian protesters mean well. And the guy goes, he, he responds to Steve Inskeep and
00:18:41.320 goes, it's what we mean. We want them to burn. So they're, they're not even hiding it. They're being
00:18:46.800 very clear that they are trying to provoke Israel. And yet the mainstream media is doing PR for the
00:18:54.180 terrorist group that is funding these people in Gaza. And just in case we had any doubt that it's
00:19:00.860 the Palestinians that are bloodthirsty or some of the Palestinians, not all of them. Hamas, the Islamist
00:19:06.320 fundamentalist terrorist group that runs Palestine is using Palestinians as human shields at the border
00:19:11.780 to cause chaos. But Israel is the one who's evil, right? Israel acted in self-defense is to blame here.
00:19:18.160 Okay. Gotcha. I mean, you guys should really see the tweets on this. It's amazing. It's
00:19:24.020 amazing how people allow themselves to be deceived. How many people buy this garbage? Uh, Linda
00:19:29.600 Sarsour, of course, the anti-Semitic leader of the Women's March who speaks out for, uh, Palestinian,
00:19:35.080 uh, liberation and Palestine said that the embassy move, um, is a sad day, that it represents a very
00:19:42.340 sad, depressing day. Uh, if you were on the side of an outspoken anti-Semite, which she is, you were
00:19:49.260 probably on the wrong side. Uh, the point in all of these headlines that we're seeing though,
00:19:54.540 in all of these tweets is of course, to not just blame Israel, but also to make it seem like Trump
00:20:00.400 and his team are heartless, are cruel, hate Muslims, or even enjoying the killing of Palestinians. Uh,
00:20:06.440 journalists are saying that this takes peace off the table, but newsflash peace was never on the table
00:20:12.040 while Hamas was attacking both its own people in Israel, uh, defending Palestine. It really just fits
00:20:18.300 in with the media's narrative that Trump is an evil dictator who enjoys bloodshed. But quite frankly,
00:20:24.580 it's more than that. Their, their bias is more than that. It's deeper than that. There has been
00:20:31.020 an anti-Israel bias, a deep seated anti-Israel bias in the media and on much of the left for a long time,
00:20:40.120 uh, when Israel actually became powerful, when after the six day war in 1967, it was obvious that
00:20:46.160 Israel was actually a force to be reckoned with when it was obvious under LBJ that America was
00:20:51.040 giving preferential treatment to Israel rather than to our other Arab allies in the, in the region.
00:20:56.720 When it was obvious that we were heading towards a representative democracy, uh, that we were,
00:21:02.280 that Israel was looking at more like a Western state rather than adopting socialism. Then of course,
00:21:08.240 the mainstream left began to turn on them. They were seen as the aggressors. America was seen as
00:21:13.020 wrong for sticking by them. Um, and not just the left by the way, to be fair, but also many on the
00:21:18.720 right, specifically the alt-right and some libertarians are very anti-Israel or at least
00:21:24.040 anti-American support of Israel. Uh, they believe that we shouldn't be hoisting them up financially,
00:21:28.580 that we need to focus our efforts here. Now the alt-right just doesn't like Jewish people. Uh,
00:21:33.960 they think that they control everything and are out to destroy the world. Libertarians
00:21:38.200 want us to basically be isolated and to focus on our own country. Uh, but those who defend Israel
00:21:44.520 believe that they are a strategic ally, that they protect our interests. They protect the Middle
00:21:50.860 East against Russian interests. Many conservatives believe that, um, anything we can do to help out a
00:21:57.100 representative democracy in the Middle East is good for the world. They see us as a beacon of liberty,
00:22:01.580 the way that Ronald Reagan famously did and believe that it's our job to spread it as much as we can,
00:22:06.440 um, and support it as much as we can. And then of course, some people think presidents support Israel
00:22:11.960 to win the Jewish vote. I'm not sure about that because Jews typically vote Democrat and it is
00:22:17.180 usually not always, but usually conservative presidents who are bigger advocates of Israel.
00:22:21.620 So I'm not really sure about that one. Um, but of course there is a non-political aspect of this as
00:22:27.940 well for us Christians, um, and for Jews, uh, for Jews, it's pretty obvious. Israel is their historic
00:22:33.780 homeland. It is the land God promised to the Jewish people. It was theirs before the Muslims tried to
00:22:38.220 claim it. It is important to us Christians because it was, and is the land of the Jewish people. And
00:22:43.540 also for us, because Jesus spent his life there, uh, the Bible makes very clear that God will bless
00:22:49.200 the friends of Israel. Genesis 12, three, God tells Abram, the father of Israel, the eventual father
00:22:55.040 of Israel, I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. And in you, all the families
00:23:01.280 of the earth will be blessed. Uh, I mixed up the, a couple of versions there, but that's the one I
00:23:06.220 know in my head. Uh, but the point is clear. If a nation is smart, they are going to turn. They are
00:23:12.360 not going to turn their backs on Israel. Uh, did his Prager has a piece on this for national review
00:23:18.140 where he lists some of the nations that have abandoned or gone against Israel and what happened
00:23:22.800 to them. Um, well, first of all, things didn't really turn out well for the Egyptians and it didn't
00:23:27.420 really turn out well for the Babylonians either. Uh, Spain expelled Jews in 1492 used to be a major
00:23:33.240 global power. And then they soon became completely irrelevant. The Germans suffered death and defeat
00:23:39.560 in world war II and their nation was divided for the next 50 years after that. Um, half of the country
00:23:45.140 suffering under communism, the Arab countries that really hate the Jews the most are some of the worst,
00:23:50.900 most war torn, most chaotic countries in the world where people are getting murdered every day by
00:23:56.140 dictatorial regimes, which, which like we just got to say, by the way, it should really make you wonder
00:24:02.440 why is it that Christian nations and Jewish nations seem to be the most tolerant and seem to work really
00:24:07.700 well, but countries that are run by Islam are always torn apart by violence and chaos. It's really
00:24:12.680 interesting. Um, America has always supported Israel, but America has been seemingly more blessed than any
00:24:20.140 other country that has ever existed. No, I'm not saying that we're perfect. I'm not saying that, uh,
00:24:25.140 we don't have suffering. I'm not saying that we are loved by God more, but I do believe that because
00:24:30.800 of our partnership with Israel, God has continued to protect and preserve America. And that belief
00:24:36.600 points back to the promise that God made to Abraham. Um, many Christians and, and Jews see the
00:24:43.160 establishment of Israel as the fulfillment of God's promise to Moses in Deuteronomy, uh, 31 through five
00:24:49.200 verses three through five of that say, then the Lord, your God will restore your fortunes
00:24:54.280 and have compassion on you, gathering you again from all the peoples among whom the Lord, your God
00:24:59.880 has scattered you. Even if you are exiled to the ends of the world, from there, the Lord, your God
00:25:04.860 will gather you. And from there, he will bring you back. The Lord, your God will bring you into the
00:25:09.360 land that your ancestors, ancestors possessed, and you will possess it. He will make you more prosperous
00:25:14.760 and numerous than your ancestors. People have also been referencing, uh, Psalm 137, five that says,
00:25:22.080 if I forget you, Oh Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill. But I do think it's important
00:25:27.400 to actually know the context of that. Uh, the Psalm is a community lament of Babylonian captivity.
00:25:32.440 Verse one of the chapter says by the waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, which is a
00:25:37.580 very famous verse. It was referenced by T.S. Eliot in the wasteland, one of the greatest poems of all
00:25:42.020 time. Um, this chapter is lamenting the suffering Israel was enduring. Apparently the Babylonians wanted
00:25:47.900 the Israelites to play their songs of worship. Uh, they call them songs of Zion, but the writer of
00:25:52.720 this Psalm saw it as a horrific and disrespectful request and equated doing that to forgetting
00:25:58.340 Jerusalem, something that he never wanted to do. Um, also verses seven and eight are, are referenced
00:26:04.080 a lot. Remember O Lord against the Edomites, how they said, lay it bare, lay it bare down to its
00:26:09.100 foundations. O daughter of Babylon doomed to be destroyed. Blessed shall he be who repays you
00:26:14.380 with what you have done to us. Um, Edomites is really a general reference to all who hate Israel
00:26:20.940 and specifically Babylon had been the ones carrying out violence in this case. And what we see here is
00:26:26.500 a plea to destroy the enemies of Israel, which God did, which he does, which he will continue to do.
00:26:32.820 He promises that, um, there is also an important eschatological, it's a fun word, eschatological
00:26:39.820 aspect of this for Christians, uh, meaning having to do with the end times. I really right now don't
00:26:47.660 want to get into dispensational pre-millennialism, post-millennialism, et cetera. We would need to do
00:26:54.520 a whole podcast on the varying Christian beliefs of the end times, and we can do that if you guys
00:26:58.960 want. Uh, but there is the belief that the gathering of Jews in Israel, AKA Zionism is necessary
00:27:04.760 before the coming of Christ. Uh, there is the belief that when Christ comes to rule for his thousand
00:27:09.320 year reign that he will rule in Israel, in Jerusalem. Uh, like I said, we could go into all
00:27:15.720 that. I could tell you what I believe on the matter and what the Bible says, quite frankly,
00:27:20.660 uh, which is more important than what I believe. And we can, like I said, if y'all want, but we don't
00:27:25.460 have time today. Uh, so Christians care about the acknowledgement of Jerusalem as a city of David,
00:27:30.780 as the eternal capital of Israel rather than the capital of Palestine, because we believe in the Bible
00:27:36.100 and that's what the Bible tells us. And we wouldn't dare go against that because the Bible is very
00:27:41.760 clear about the seriousness of forgetting Israel and Jerusalem. Um, Christians and Jews who believe
00:27:47.440 in the Bible know this. We know that the Jews are God's chosen people, that he will not abandon Israel.
00:27:53.800 We, the Gentiles, uh, have been grafted in and are now through Christ also part of God's chosen
00:27:59.900 people. But Israel is God's originally chosen group and he still has a plan for them. Now let's
00:28:05.560 talk about this. Um, because I know that might sound contingentious in some ways, but it's really
00:28:10.880 not. Um, I've gotten into some arguments with some of my followers and, uh, fellow Christians about this
00:28:17.040 because sadly there are too many Christians who believe in this thing called replacement theology or
00:28:22.640 supersessionism, um, that says that Christians have superseded or replaced the Jewish people as God's
00:28:29.080 chosen people. I got in an argument with this anti-Semitic politician on Twitter about this.
00:28:34.920 And one of his followers are going after me on Instagram. And I'm like, look, don't, don't mess
00:28:39.720 with this kind of stuff. It doesn't typically end well. If you haven't read your Bible, don't try to
00:28:44.960 defend things in the Bible that you haven't actually read. Okay. Uh, because the fact of the matter is
00:28:50.220 there is no biblical support for replacement theology. None. In fact, scripture directly contradicts it.
00:28:57.480 Read all of Romans, specifically Romans 11, uh, beginning of Romans 11 says,
00:29:02.940 has God rejected his people Israel by no means for I myself, this is Paul writing for I myself
00:29:09.000 am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not rejected his
00:29:14.460 people whom he foreknew. Then going down a few verses, it says, so at the present time, there's a
00:29:19.920 remnant of Israel chosen by grace. Then verse seven, what then Israel failed to obtain what it was
00:29:26.680 seeking, meaning that they failed to believe in Jesus as the Messiah. And then it says, as it is
00:29:32.160 written, God gave them a spirit of stupor eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear
00:29:36.760 down to this very day. And David says, same chapter, let their table become a snare and a trap,
00:29:43.460 a stumbling block and a retribution for them. Let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see
00:29:48.420 and bend their backs forever. And then this is important. Paul says, did the Jews stumble in order
00:29:54.100 that they might fall by no means rather through their trespass, salvation has come to the Gentiles
00:30:00.600 so as to make Israel jealous. Now, if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure
00:30:06.740 means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion mean? So let's unpack that.
00:30:14.300 Israel is still God's chosen people. That much is clear from those verses. He's not going to abandon
00:30:19.900 them, but he has allowed them, most of them to be hardened to the gospel so that Gentiles, you and
00:30:24.940 me, if you're not Jewish, could be included. There's a current remnant right now who is ethnically
00:30:30.280 Jewish, but believes in Jesus as the Messiah. They're called Messianic Jews. Most do not, but God says
00:30:36.380 that there will be full inclusion of the Jewish people as we just read. That full inclusion though
00:30:41.440 comes through Christ. No one can be saved without Christ. Jesus says, John 14 says, I am the way,
00:30:49.120 the truth, the life. No one, not a single person comes through the father except through me. So God
00:30:55.360 has not forgotten the Jewish people, but their salvation won't be solely because they are Jewish,
00:31:00.520 but it will come through faith in Christ. Romans also covers that. Now that's also where some
00:31:05.840 eschatology comes in, when Jews will actually come to acknowledge Christ as their Messiah. But the
00:31:11.820 bottom line is that Jesus is the plan of salvation for both the Jews and the Gentiles. There is no
00:31:18.960 replacement. Listen to these verses in Ephesians 2. Therefore, remember that at one time, you Gentiles
00:31:25.820 in the flesh called the uncircumcision by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by
00:31:30.580 hands. Remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of
00:31:36.340 Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise. These are everyone, everyone who is not a Jewish
00:31:42.100 person. This is who we were. We were strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without
00:31:47.060 God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus, you who were once far off have been brought near by the
00:31:53.020 blood of Christ for he himself is our peace who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh,
00:31:59.040 the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances that
00:32:04.600 he might create in himself one new man in place of the two. So making peace and might reconcile us
00:32:10.720 both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. And he came and preached
00:32:15.940 peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near for through him. We both have access
00:32:22.720 in one spirit to the father. So then Gentiles, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you
00:32:28.800 are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God built on the foundation of
00:32:34.560 the apostles and the prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone in whom the whole structure
00:32:39.620 being joined together grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him, you also are being built together
00:32:45.880 into a dwelling place for God by the spirit. Oh, I could cry. That's such a beautiful depiction of
00:32:51.980 what the gospel is, how it reconciles both Jews and Gentiles to God through Christ. Uh, that's verses,
00:32:59.660 those are verses 11 through 22. I really encourage you to read that on your own. I mean, that's it
00:33:04.920 right there through Christ Jesus. Uh, we are invited into a story that we were previously not a part of.
00:33:11.160 He reconciled us to God and adopted us to be a part of God's chosen people, not to replace God's chosen
00:33:17.740 people. Uh, Romans 3, 1 says, what advantage has the Jew or what is the value of circumcision? He says
00:33:24.960 much in every way to begin with, they were entrusted with the oracles of God, which is exactly, it's
00:33:30.240 exactly why for Christians, it is so sad and frustrating when we feel that Jews don't see Jesus
00:33:37.520 as the Messiah. I'm like, how do you not see that he fulfills all of your prophecies that he's the Messiah
00:33:42.940 that you guys are waiting on? But we know that it's because of what we read in Romans 11, what God
00:33:48.620 said and what David prophesied that their hearts will be hardened while Gentiles are being saved.
00:33:53.480 Uh, Romans 10, one through four summarizes how most Christians feel about the Jewish people being
00:33:58.160 separated from God. Um, it says, brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God is for them to be
00:34:03.880 saved for. I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge for being
00:34:11.280 ignorant of the righteousness of God and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's
00:34:16.520 righteousness for Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. So all
00:34:24.080 this to say Christians who believe that Jews are irrelevant, that they are no longer a part of God's
00:34:29.760 plan. Quite literally. I mean, you, you might not have ever read the Bible. Like before you start
00:34:36.580 arguing theology, I recommend that you crack open God's word. I mean, it's probably a good
00:34:43.320 prerequisite. Um, this is why we care about the Jewish people. This is why we care about Israel.
00:34:48.940 This is why we continue to be partners with Israel. This is why we acknowledge Jerusalem
00:34:53.640 as the capital of Israel, not Palestine. Should we have compassion for the Palestinians? Yes. They are also
00:35:00.760 suffering under the rule of Hamas. They are people, they are made in God's image. Should we have a desire
00:35:05.540 them that they'd be saved by Christ? Absolutely. But we are on the correct side of biblical history
00:35:11.480 by standing with Israel and recognizing Jerusalem as the Jewish and the Christian holy city. So that's
00:35:18.540 a, that's a lot. It's a lot. It's a lot. Um, I'm sure that there's a lot that I still didn't cover
00:35:23.900 though. We're only 35 minutes in. So if I missed something or if I got something wrong, feel free to
00:35:29.560 email me. Allie at the conservative millennial blog.com. I'm always afraid that I got a fact
00:35:35.720 wrong. So if I did, just let me know. Um, or you can message me on Instagram, but I hope that that
00:35:41.320 helped break it down for you. Um, now for my final segment, have you guys, you guys probably have at
00:35:49.000 this point heard about Yanny versus Laurel. I mean, I don't know what to do. I don't know. I feel like
00:35:58.020 I'm losing my mind. It was all over the internet yesterday. It's this computer generated sound,
00:36:03.000 uh, that's going viral because people hear two very different things. Um, okay, here it is.
00:36:09.440 Yanny. Yanny. OMG. If you do not hear Yanny, I think you're lying. It is Yanny. There is no L or R.
00:36:21.500 I am really, I really just think that the entire internet is playing a huge joke on me. Like it's
00:36:27.900 an internet flash dance kind of thing that y'all are all just playing a huge joke on me and everyone
00:36:32.480 just hears Yanny. I do not hear Laurel at all. Not one bit. My husband last night, he was the one who
00:36:39.260 showed me this. He said he hears Laurel and I was crying laughing because we both thought that the
00:36:45.040 other one was lying. I still do. I still think he's going to like come home and be like, just kidding.
00:36:49.620 I hear Yanny too. But what I found out actually, I did some research because I was freaking out.
00:36:54.960 It actually is a frequency thing. So people who can hear higher frequencies hear Yanny, which means
00:37:00.380 that we have better hearing by the way. Don't want to brag, but I mean, and those who can't hear the
00:37:06.480 higher frequencies hear Laurel. Um, crazy craziness, craziness. Let me know what you hear. I'm really
00:37:12.800 interested. Okay. So that is all for you today. You guys rock. Would love for you to share this
00:37:19.000 with your friends, to subscribe, to leave a five-star review if you so desire. Or if you have feedback for
00:37:24.120 me, feel free to reach out to me on social media or email me. Okay. Have a great week. Bye.
00:37:28.680 Bye.
