Ben and Corley Spell started Good Rancher several years ago, delivering American meat right to your front door.
00:00:08.820
Today, they are here to talk about how their business has developed just amazingly over the past few years
00:00:14.600
and to tell you what you don't know but need to know about American farming and ranching
00:00:21.620
and the meat that is being imported into the United States without your knowledge.
00:00:27.340
Corley is also going to share with us her recent cancer journey and just how the Lord has shown up for their family.
00:00:35.300
It's a really educational and such an encouraging conversation.
00:00:40.740
This episode is brought to you by Good Ranchers.
00:00:57.340
Ben and Corley, thanks so much for taking the time to join us again.
00:01:03.840
You were on for the first time a couple of years ago.
00:01:07.080
It's been about three plus years that we've been working together as part of the show.
00:01:12.720
So in the last couple of years, just give us a recap on how Good Ranchers has grown and all that.
00:01:24.020
I can't believe it's been like two years since we've been here and wow, how things can change.
00:01:43.940
So right now we have a six-year-old boy, a five-year-old boy, a four-year-old girl as of yesterday and a two-and-a-half-year-old girl.
00:01:55.560
But last year was the first year of the business, um, of running the business that we, Corley wasn't pregnant or we had a newborn.
00:02:03.640
That was, it's, it's, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
00:02:09.980
So many people, uh, told us early on, especially having so many children back to back, um, which newborn season for me is kind of not, not my favorite.
00:02:23.600
Uh, and so many people are like, oh, it only gets harder.
00:02:30.300
Once they can be a little bit more durable and, um, like Bear makes his own ham sandwiches.
00:02:39.340
You think when they're a little more self-sufficient.
00:02:44.040
Um, and thank you to your listeners and your show and support.
00:02:48.860
Like we've been, um, growing like crazy and, um, we never thought we would be here.
00:02:55.300
Um, um, for those of you who don't know, we, uh, we was in full-time ministry working at a church in Houston and God called us to start a meat company and we knew nothing about agriculture, knew nothing about being entrepreneurs or business.
00:03:09.600
But, um, there's been something in my spirit lately of, uh, that I've been just wanting to share with more people and it's when God says, go, go.
00:03:19.500
Um, and we were reading in Mark yesterday at a Bible study at our church and, and, uh, and it was how Matthew was called and it says that Jesus was, um, uh, walking by and he saw Levi and he told him to follow him.
00:03:37.180
Um, and, um, and that was just such a reminder of like, you don't have to ask a bunch of questions when God says, go, you go.
00:03:50.960
Um, and, you know, we started in 2018, um, after, you know, just having a newborn and didn't know anything about anything.
00:04:01.920
And, uh, but God just really prepared the way and opened up the right doors and closed the wrong doors.
00:04:07.500
And, um, and then, you know, we started selling out of trucks and parking lots.
00:04:11.940
And, um, then we, uh, launched online because the world went, you know, shut down in 2020 because of COVID.
00:04:20.320
And, um, yeah, and, uh, we've just been in, in, even in our space, we've been seeing tremendous growth these last few years.
00:04:29.720
And so many other e-commerce companies, um, in our space, uh, have been, as I get to know more people and talking, um, they can't believe that we're continuing to grow.
00:04:40.260
Like we grew significantly last year and we're growing again this year and so many others are really, um, or, or not growing or struggling, staying in business.
00:04:51.800
And, and I, it's just a complete testament to God called us to do it.
00:04:55.760
And we're, you know, we're still following that.
00:04:58.840
I'm so curious how you guys decided to kind of forge your marketing and advertising strategy because it has been so creative, so effective.
00:05:07.520
You've partnered with so many conservative podcasters and conservative shows over the past few years.
00:05:13.920
Like at what moment, maybe it wasn't just one moment, but did you say, okay, this is what we're going to do.
00:05:19.420
We're going to basically be like the meat company of the conservative podcasters.
00:05:23.800
I don't know if that's what your thought was, but it's brilliant if so.
00:05:27.720
It's, it's, it is crazy how that kind of like just evolved and happened.
00:05:31.000
And by crazy, I mean, obviously God's hand was all over this, but I mean, it was in the very beginning.
00:05:36.880
We were just trying to think of, okay, who, who want, who would want to support what we want to support with our business, with America first families, um, ethically sourced, responsibly raised, all those things.
00:05:56.700
And then from there, you just kind of, you know, connect the dots.
00:05:59.960
What actually started a little bit before Charlie Kirk was the first and we, and we wanted to support Turning Point USA because we love them as an organization and what, and, you know, having young children and family and, you know, actually caring about the future of our country.
00:06:14.120
Um, so we wanted to support Turning Point and, um, and, and then, so we started sponsoring Charlie's podcast and it worked well for us.
00:06:26.040
And, um, and then the same with your podcast, Coralie, um, I don't think you remember, but we weren't really thinking that you would do great for us.
00:06:36.480
Um, but Coralie loved your show and wanted to support your show.
00:06:43.560
Um, but no, I'm saying like, it wasn't a, we think this is like, we, we didn't have like the marketing strategy of this is how we're going to build our brand or build the business.
00:06:52.560
We were in the early on, we were wanting to support like causes people that we believed in, um, and, uh, like Charlie Kirk and then yourself.
00:07:01.120
And then, and then that's when we started connecting the dots of, of kind of the conservative political commentary.
00:07:10.340
And we're still using that same strategy and like going into newer markets and newer segments.
00:07:18.500
Where are they spending their dollars, their time, stuff like that with like IndyCar.
00:07:28.280
Um, has there ever been a moment where you got the attention of like someone, I don't know, in media that you were like, well, this person knows who we are or has talked about us.
00:07:44.380
Cause I know that, I think I've seen y'all interact maybe on Instagram or something.
00:07:56.640
We were just, it was a Saturday and, uh, we were just at home with the kids.
00:08:00.800
And I think it was either you or me, but we were like, babe, babe, babe, babe, babe, babe, babe, babe.
00:08:09.520
Joe Rogan shared one of our, and we had noticed a few weeks or maybe a few months before.
00:08:13.580
I was like, Hey, Joe Rogan follows good ranchers.
00:08:17.260
And, um, but never thought that he would like share or repost anything.
00:08:22.640
And yeah, he did a hard repost, um, and, uh, uh, on, on one of our, on one of our, um,
00:08:33.220
And we just really took off with his, I mean, we got tens of multiple tens of thousands of
00:08:41.040
And, uh, which Instagram is really hard to grow on these days.
00:08:47.080
I can imagine that y'all haven't gotten on the show yet, right?
00:08:51.460
Maybe one day, maybe one day, maybe that would be awesome.
00:09:01.860
This is America's only pro life diaper company.
00:09:06.540
We love that it's made from premium, uh, premium ingredients, but we love even more
00:09:13.180
Unfortunately, a lot of diaper companies, they're taking your dollars, they're donating
00:09:16.880
to pro abortion causes, organizations, politicians, which is crazy to think about, but it's just
00:09:25.980
They're supporting the mothers, the families that work for them, but they are also supporting
00:09:29.820
the families in need by donating needed items to these moms in crisis to make it easier
00:09:37.440
You can actually go to their website, every life.com and purchase their buy for a cause
00:09:43.400
That bundle of resources of baby items will be sent to a mom in need again, to make it
00:09:52.480
If you subscribe to their diaper box, every life.com that gives you a discount on your purchase,
00:10:05.420
When you use code Allie10, you get a 10% discount on your first order.
00:10:16.840
So you said then that you doubted, you doubted the relatable audience.
00:10:20.880
You doubted us, but then you never finished that thought.
00:10:32.100
And I mean, and you've grown so much over the last few years.
00:10:43.440
And I think that like, I don't think either of us really knew because for me, it was such
00:10:47.600
a unique product to advertise because I hadn't before.
00:10:52.980
And I think we like, we learned a lot too that, oh, it's largely women who are like,
00:10:58.460
oh, I don't want to go to the grocery store anymore.
00:11:03.460
Isn't it so freeing just to be able to just get your produce?
00:11:07.500
I mean, you're still spending like a couple hundred dollars, but.
00:11:11.200
But just to not have to worry about that and to wonder if the sticker that says made in
00:11:15.960
the USA means made in the USA or it means packaged in the USA.
00:11:22.320
It's getting harder and harder now that they keep changing laws and passing different things.
00:11:31.900
And it's so hard for consumers to know who to trust and how to trust.
00:11:36.440
Um, cause now they've opened up, um, you can, you can import, um, from, it's mostly coming
00:11:46.180
from Mexico, but you can import it as long as it's in a feed lot in the United States for
00:11:52.240
90 days, it can get a, now it can get a USDA grade where before it can only be USDA inspected.
00:11:59.440
It could say product of USA and say USDA inspect it.
00:12:03.120
But now as long as it's sits in a feed lot, which you don't want anyway, but, um, it can
00:12:09.760
get a USDA grade, which could grade out USDA prime, which the grocery store, um, um, you
00:12:15.480
know, USDA prime or USDA choice, um, those used to be limited for born, raised and harvested,
00:12:23.620
And now as long as, as long as it's in a feed lot for 90 days, um, they can get a USDA grade
00:12:30.680
So they keep changing things, uh, that make it less transparent for the consumer.
00:12:35.660
Um, so we're actually in the process of now combating that and making sure that we have
00:12:41.780
full transparency, even to our customers, um, you know, that born, raised and harvested
00:12:47.940
or born, raised, um, and made in America, um, cause some people don't like harvested, but
00:12:55.100
Um, but, um, yeah, we're, you know, fighting to take another step to, to make, um, born,
00:13:04.100
raised and harvested or born, raised and made in America, a USDA claim that has to be on
00:13:08.760
And why is that important for them to be born in the U S it, um, American agriculture
00:13:16.540
or agriculture is the backbone of our country and, and, um, farms and ranches are going
00:13:23.940
out of business at an alarming rate because they can't, they, I think the average age of
00:13:36.180
And these, yes, ranches that have been around for hundreds of years and generational, um,
00:13:41.260
we're having to close their doors because they can't keep up.
00:13:44.280
Like the price of meat keeps going up and the price that the ranchers get, um, is basically
00:13:54.800
Um, this year was a little bit better, uh, honestly, but, uh, cause supply has been low,
00:14:00.500
but as a whole, the American ranchers, um, the independent ranches, they can't keep up
00:14:09.160
with the big conglomerates of, you know, your, the, the three biggest meat, um, they call
00:14:18.160
them the three, the big three, the big packers.
00:14:21.080
Um, they just can't keep up with the billions of pounds that get imported over 3 billion
00:14:30.640
It's, it's a lot cheaper and it's far inferior to what we raise here.
00:14:38.700
Because I'm sure that makes your job a lot harder, especially as they started expanding
00:14:43.620
the definition of made in the U S as you said, you're like, now you're having to investigate,
00:14:48.240
okay, were these really born in the U S whereas maybe before you could just kind of trust it.
00:14:52.420
Um, like how are y'all, how are y'all doing that?
00:14:56.260
It just seems like that in and of itself would be a full-time job.
00:15:00.100
Putting in the work and I mean, I'm hiring the staff to help do it.
00:15:07.080
I have meetings next, I'm flying to, um, Phoenix, Arizona, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
00:15:12.640
next week and have meetings looking at all of this and how we're changing and adapting.
00:15:17.240
And, and then at the end of the month, I'm going to Kansas to, to, uh, we're, you know,
00:15:22.780
we're constantly looking at new supplies, looking at new farms, vetting, um, new things.
00:15:34.740
But I think that's when it's important to really like,
00:15:36.980
know who you're supporting with your money, like who's running the company and what decisions
00:15:41.740
Because yes, it would be so easy for us just to accept the inferior product, the cheaper
00:15:51.320
And so even though it is more work, I mean, we care about it.
00:15:56.580
I mean, truthfully, like it's, and we keep getting met with, um, as there's supply issues,
00:16:03.660
And so, and I, I mean, our price is up, the price of what we buy product up at, uh, right
00:16:12.140
Um, I think the last time I looked 180% over two years ago, but our prices haven't went
00:16:21.020
Like, um, and, and they just keep going up and our CFO keeps telling me, like, you gotta
00:16:27.980
And, uh, but we, you know, we always set out that we want to, like, we want to be able
00:16:34.000
to provide an amazing product, transparency, and, uh, you know, that you can trust.
00:16:41.620
Um, and we want people to be able to afford it.
00:16:43.520
Like we don't want it to have to be a special occasion.
00:16:45.740
We want, that's why we, that's why we launched the weekly essential boxes this year.
00:16:49.220
Cause we want, um, we know that the grocery store is putting a, a hurt on everyone's wallet.
00:16:58.440
It's just, it's, but you know, if you go to the grocery store, you can spend less than,
00:17:12.380
And, you know, we, we care about what we put in our body.
00:17:19.300
Uh, and, and, you know, we should be, our body's a temple and we should be putting,
00:17:26.940
And you're paying for not just the quality, but you're paying for the convenience, which
00:17:34.300
I mean, I also have, you know, kids five and under.
00:17:37.240
And so not having to go to the grocery store to get my meat, not having to think, I don't
00:17:43.560
It's just too much mental energy to be like, okay, how can I tell if this cow was born
00:17:51.360
Um, and I wanted to show up on my front door, you're paying for like the packaging, the
00:17:56.440
dry ice, all the stuff that is necessary, especially in the heat to get that meat to
00:18:03.780
Um, and to have that peace of mind, I think it's, it is, it 100% is worth the extra dollars.
00:18:10.280
And I also think that in the end, it does save you money, not just with health because
00:18:17.860
But I spend less time at the grocery store because I always have meat there.
00:18:22.600
And it's like, if I have nothing else, at least I can cook chicken.
00:18:25.780
And so I don't go to the grocery store as much.
00:18:27.980
And so I don't spend money on things that I don't need.
00:18:33.540
I mean, you can always make more money, but you can't make more time.
00:18:40.080
What else do you guys wish people knew about meat in the United States, farming in the United
00:18:52.280
Like the, the, um, the other side of the industry.
00:18:57.360
Uh, so like your, your, your pitas, the plant-based, um, all of those people, they've done a really
00:19:05.420
good job of, of kind of dehumanizing farming in general and taking the face of the farmer,
00:19:13.500
the face of the rancher, just away and making you think that there's a cow.
00:19:19.840
Um, but cow goes into factory with smoke and out comes a hamburger and like they, they've
00:19:26.140
done a really good job of just, of de-educating, uh, the, the consumer.
00:19:32.860
And, um, we're so far removed from what it actually takes, uh, to produce food for your
00:19:43.080
Uh, there's, there's people that look just like all of us that are working sun up, sun
00:19:51.020
down 365 days a year, um, uh, raising animals, raising produce, like doing the things to put
00:20:00.420
And, and, uh, that's what I wish, you know, we, we want to, um, you know, we had a grand
00:20:05.760
plan going into this year of really telling the story of this as a rancher.
00:20:10.080
Um, and then life kind of hit us pretty hard this year with Corley's health.
00:20:16.340
Um, and, uh, so that got, that project got put on hold.
00:20:20.340
Um, we're, uh, about to pick that up because we want people to really, um, we need to get
00:20:27.180
back to understanding what ranching is, what farming is, where your food's coming from,
00:20:33.220
because it, it doesn't just appear like cows for example.
00:20:39.000
I mean, you know, it's a, it's a two, two and a half year process from birth, uh, to harvest
00:20:54.040
And, um, the, the funny thing is what is in factory, what is actually made in factories
00:21:00.560
and labs is the plant-based meat, the lab grown meat.
00:21:03.240
That's literally legitimately factories trying to produce this food that they, that they
00:21:08.700
then, you know, put with lots, like lots of green and make it, try to make it pretty,
00:21:14.060
but, um, but yeah, the cows are being raised in pastures outside and, and by actual humans.
00:21:21.220
All right, let me tell y'all about Patriot Mobile.
00:21:28.740
Americans are so tired and frustrated that we are buying things from companies that are
00:21:35.180
then turning around and using our money to support causes that we don't believe in.
00:21:39.920
Patriot Mobile, you don't have to worry about that with them because they are a pro-life,
00:21:43.780
pro-first and second amendment, pro-veteran and first responder company.
00:21:47.820
And they are not using our dollars to actively work against us.
00:21:53.020
This is a way that you can stand for conservative causes and they make it really easy.
00:21:58.800
They've got a 100% a U S based customer service team.
00:22:05.640
With my promo code Allie, you get the same great service, but you don't have to worry
00:22:10.120
about funding progressive politicians and causes when you switch to Patriot Mobile.
00:22:15.580
So go to PatriotMobile.com slash Allie that's PatriotMobile.com slash Allie.
00:22:24.240
Well, what do y'all think about the lab grown meat?
00:22:27.100
I mean, in June, 2023, we have in our notes, uh, the U S food and drug administration granted
00:22:33.060
permission for several companies to sell lab grown meat, making America the second country
00:22:43.100
I mean, I don't even know, do y'all even know what lab grown meat is?
00:22:48.760
They're, I mean, they're just, it's cultured meat.
00:22:51.340
They're taking like the, the cells and they're growing them in a Petri dish.
00:22:59.780
No, it's slightly different, but it's, it's gross.
00:23:06.500
Cause you have to put a bunch of fake stuff in it for it to grow.
00:23:11.680
And, um, yeah, they, all of that stuff is really, I mean, it's.
00:23:17.780
Who just announced or they're about to restructure for bankruptcy?
00:23:21.720
Beyond, uh, I don't know, one of the, one of those, one of them, none of them were being
00:23:34.240
And if you're reading the label, like, I just think, I don't even think it's right for them
00:23:41.440
You know, I think that in itself is very misleading.
00:23:46.580
It's like, if you want to have a black bean burger, it's not my thing, but you can have
00:23:50.960
that, but to have, I don't even understand why you would want imitation meat.
00:23:57.200
If you're going to eat the vegetable, why try to have something look and taste like meat
00:24:06.540
That's something that I've kind of been reading in my ads for a little while now that the meat
00:24:11.080
that you guys have are free of these MRNA vaccines.
00:24:13.660
And 2022, the USDA approved the use of sequivity, I don't know, an RNA-based vaccine developed
00:24:27.060
The vaccine became commercially available on November 1st, 2023, and now with its newfound
00:24:32.900
accessibility, there's a possibility that pork products may now be treated with this vaccine.
00:24:37.440
Is this something that farmers and ranchers are running into?
00:24:42.020
And I want to be really clear because we do get accused sometimes of fear mongering.
00:24:52.780
But I will be very vocal on if we don't talk about things, the government will just slide
00:25:03.420
That's what's happening now with the grading system of as long as it's 90 days, like nobody
00:25:10.520
And so we're never trying to fear monger when we're putting out this information.
00:25:18.080
But the MRNA has been being tested for over a decade for animal use in the United States
00:25:28.740
And so when this stuff started getting released, we did put out a pledge to not use the MRNA
00:25:41.600
And some of the fear mongering that we got accused of with that is because at the time
00:25:48.440
it wasn't legal for use, but they were talking about doing it.
00:25:54.520
So we came out and said, hey, we're going to draw a line on the sand.
00:26:01.360
We're going to not use the MRNA vaccines in our meat.
00:26:05.340
And so many people were just like, oh, well, it's not even legal for use.
00:26:12.800
But if we don't talk about this, if we don't, and if people don't get loud.
00:26:19.360
I think we've all realized as society, and I know you've heard the phrase that strong
00:26:26.800
men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times and hard
00:26:36.600
And we're really coming, I think we're, I don't know where we're at in that cycle, but
00:26:44.680
The end of the good times and the weak men for sure.
00:26:48.100
We had really good times and we've had a very weak generation, not going to name who it
00:27:00.640
And part of that weakness is just staying silent and thinking that other people, and
00:27:05.960
I'll, I'll be the first one to say the church stayed way too silent for way too long on way
00:27:10.740
too many issues where we should have been vocal.
00:27:12.780
But out of the, out of wanting to show love and be Christ-like, we, we sat back trying to,
00:27:22.780
trying to, intentions were good, but we, we stayed way too silent on way too many issues.
00:27:28.700
And so for us, like, we're like, no, we're going to talk about this stuff.
00:27:35.000
It's not fear-mongering because if we stay silent and just assume that the government's
00:27:49.980
But yeah, I mean, if COVID taught us anything, it's that, like, get ahead of it.
00:27:57.360
Y'all talked about on the last episode, the last interview, how God really called y'all
00:28:05.640
You have, and I think still had slash still have the event planning company, right?
00:28:10.980
And so this was a totally kind of foreign world for y'all.
00:28:14.700
How have y'all seen God work, especially over the last year or so?
00:28:28.140
So in 21, I was first pregnant with our, our fourth baby, barely pregnant, like five,
00:28:40.060
They found a mole that they biopsied, came back with melanoma, super scary, especially
00:28:47.620
But I still like had so much peace in that time.
00:28:53.140
But, you know, going MD Anderson and being pregnant with cancer, they're not like super
00:29:01.160
Thankfully, they weren't trying to push me to make any decisions like that, but I could
00:29:10.840
We felt comfortable about doing the surgery in the second trimester.
00:29:19.140
And so went on, you know, to have a healthy baby 40 weeks.
00:29:23.940
But during that time, I mean, they were asking us very hard questions like, are you prepared
00:29:29.860
And are you prepared, dad, to not have mom here?
00:29:35.040
And it's just you and the three other kids, you know, just all of that stuff just thrown
00:29:45.220
But then in January of this year, I felt a swollen lymph node in my groin, which was very
00:29:56.140
And so since January, we've been on this healing journey.
00:30:00.820
I don't even like to say the word cancer because I just I hate it.
00:30:04.760
I never like accepted that or like let it take root in me.
00:30:10.580
But since January, we've been on this mission of healing.
00:30:13.880
And there's been a lot that's happened since January and June 10.
00:30:18.820
But I can say now that I'm healed and there's no evidence of disease.
00:30:33.680
I mean, it can be, you know, through the through your business, but also just in your lives
00:30:43.080
I think seeing God through this season, through this year, being able to maintain the business
00:30:49.200
and maintain everything that we work so hard alongside God to put together like that to
00:30:56.440
still remain whenever we're dealing with so much at home like that in itself has just been
00:31:03.920
So I think like you said, like they're very much together and seeing him like in both of
00:31:07.700
those spaces with us through all of this has been really huge.
00:31:13.080
And the ability to honestly, the ability to have a platform to to to testify of God's
00:31:23.100
And, um, I learned this year, I, and I've got, I've been a believer since I was 14.
00:31:30.400
And, um, but I learned for the first time this year, truly what having a peace that passes
00:31:36.060
all understanding really is because, um, the part Corley didn't say was, I mean, she was
00:31:46.580
I mean, um, the, yeah, between the immunotherapy and the chemotherapy and then it, the tumor
00:31:54.820
got infected, but they didn't know it and they thought it was just a response to the
00:31:59.600
And it was just, it was, I mean, she couldn't walk.
00:32:03.500
I mean, for, um, uh, it was, it was, it was just devastating to go through that.
00:32:10.160
But, but I, that's, and that's when I realized that this is what peace that passes understanding
00:32:17.400
is to be going through extremely hard times, but because we have God, like, and he's there
00:32:23.040
with us, like the Holy Spirit is such a comforter.
00:32:25.340
And like, we, as hard as that season was, um, and the business was, we had a, it's like
00:32:33.460
the, the parallels between, um, home life and the business was kind of an uncanny.
00:32:40.660
Cause in April, when she's bedridden, um, the business basically cracked, like the software
00:32:46.760
that, um, that everyone's information is completely safe.
00:32:50.300
Um, uh, we, we changed, uh, um, all of our backend and our servers and, um, all of our technology,
00:32:59.120
we were switching all that to a different platform to be safer, to be better.
00:33:03.140
And, and, and, um, but it just completely, it, it, it hurt the business.
00:33:12.620
Um, again, this is not about any type of security or people's information.
00:33:16.640
Um, but it, uh, it, it really took a hit on, uh, what we were doing in April, um, which
00:33:30.740
And so she's like, yeah, like she's in bed, you know, just so sick, um, from the, from
00:33:38.260
what we thought was the therapies, but it was actually an infection.
00:33:42.220
And, um, and then, uh, you know, we got through that and in early May, we went to, uh, we went
00:33:50.880
to do a followup and, I mean, he's like wheeling me into MD Anderson.
00:33:56.460
Um, and we go in to see the doctor and then to see the surgeon and the doctor tells us that
00:34:03.280
that the, that her cancer laughed at the therapies, that she's had no response, the cancer spreading.
00:34:15.840
We're going to have to do this 13 hour surgery and do a full dissection of like all of this
00:34:24.400
area into your, you know, and, and we're just like devastated.
00:34:29.660
And then we go straight from there to the emergency room.
00:34:33.060
And, and, um, and, and then in the emergency room at MD Anderson, they realized that they
00:34:40.160
were like, Hey, I think this, this might be an infection.
00:34:43.580
And so then they started her, um, uh, on, um, on an antibiotic to like get rid of the infection.
00:34:51.380
And we're so thankful that we have a holistic doctor that we also run everything by.
00:34:58.580
And we talked to him, um, a couple of days later and he said, Hey, before you go to do
00:35:07.000
He said, because the, you can't tell the difference in a, whatever kind of scan they
00:35:13.600
are doing, CT scan, infection and cancer looks very similar.
00:35:18.680
So, and so she called her doctor and said they wanted to do another scan.
00:35:22.660
And they were like, why do you need to do another scan?
00:35:26.940
And we're like, well, but can't infection look the same?
00:35:31.980
We know what we're looking like, um, long story short, after the infection got cleared up,
00:35:36.380
we went back in for another scan and they go, Oh wow.
00:35:43.980
And, um, and so the surgery was a lot less, it was still a big surgery.
00:35:51.080
Um, and then I'm so glad that y'all pushed back because I've been in situations, not like
00:35:56.600
that, but you're just scared to question the doctors because, and some doctors, I don't
00:36:02.040
know about yours, but they make you feel like you can't.
00:36:08.340
And so it's easy to just say, okay, if you say so, but I've just heard so many stories
00:36:15.300
And it was that advocacy, the second look, the second opinion that changed the game.
00:36:21.660
And so after the surgery, full biopsy, um, every bit of cancer they removed was completely
00:36:27.940
So she had a complete, she actually did have a response.
00:36:30.700
Um, and, uh, yeah, you, if, if we've learned anything this year, it's, we're thankful for
00:36:40.820
We don't, we don't, I don't think they're out to get us, um, but you have to advocate for
00:36:47.360
yourself and you have to do your research and, and get a second, get a second and a third opinion
00:36:53.740
and, and, and then pray about what decisions you're going to make.
00:36:56.980
And, um, because, you know, they, they're, I do believe that they're trying their best, but
00:37:02.720
at the same time, we're just a number of lots of other and, and yeah.
00:37:11.940
And so I think also you should sift through how much of this is pride.
00:37:16.820
Cause I felt like we had a lot of that from my oncologist.
00:37:19.920
I feel like she, it was very hard for her to, um, to say, okay, I was wrong, you know,
00:37:28.360
And so I did it for her, you know, in a nice loving way.
00:37:31.560
I'm like, Hey, like your first plan worked like it did work.
00:37:33.980
And she's like, well, maybe, um, so yeah, just understanding the humanity of, of them
00:37:45.340
I love Sherwood kids and I'm so excited that they're partnering for, uh, with relatable
00:37:52.020
If you are a busy parent and you just need sometimes 30 minutes or an hour a day for your
00:37:58.420
kid to be entertained, so you can get something done like cook dinner, but you don't want to
00:38:06.020
You want them to be entertained by something that is educational and also not addictive.
00:38:10.720
Then you need to check out this brand new platform called Sherwood kids.
00:38:15.040
It's a low stimulation platform that helps kids develop a love for reading without becoming
00:38:21.000
addicted to screens with thousands of wholesome audio books, eBooks, and read along videos.
00:38:26.720
Sherwood is filled with the kind of stories that we actually want our kids to enjoy.
00:38:30.540
It's presented in a fun and entertaining way and also promotes really good values.
00:38:49.840
Sometimes I do feel like doctors have to be kind of coddled like that.
00:38:58.240
There is a human aspect, but also it seems more so in those kinds of situations, that
00:39:10.180
That is the worst nightmare to leave behind your children and to face that possibility.
00:39:17.960
Um, and I know that you mentioned just the peace that passes understanding the Holy spirit
00:39:23.620
being a helper, but were there any dark moments, especially during bed rest where you were like
00:39:30.020
just thinking of the worst and how did you get out of that?
00:39:37.380
Um, gosh, cause I, I was running fever, like super high fever for so long.
00:39:52.020
It's so hard to see someone that you love go through something like that.
00:40:06.380
Um, we've, you know, we're on the other side, um, and it is a healing journey and God is good.
00:40:13.400
Um, but you talk about like the, the scary thoughts of like leaving your children behind
00:40:21.720
and like dealing with your own mortality and, um, walking through those scenarios is something
00:40:30.440
I don't wish on anyone, but it actually did bring to light some idols that I had.
00:40:36.360
And one was like, are my children going to be okay without me?
00:40:40.880
And yes, they are like, yeah, you know, so that was like a, like a, it sucked, but it
00:40:48.600
was also like a good realization to have because just, you know, as much as I love them, he loves
00:41:00.300
And to have your, you know, for Coralie to be a mom and not be able to hold her newborn,
00:41:05.940
to not be able to put her down for, like I said, newborn, she's two and huge, but, you
00:41:11.740
know, but not to be able to put your two-year-old baby to bed for, and the youngest stay newborn.
00:41:22.580
And, you know, and all four kids are, I mean, they're all young, but the, the youngest
00:41:29.860
And she just, you know, and I just, I can't be that for her, like for them.
00:41:34.480
And, you know, again, this was by far the hardest season.
00:41:39.320
I mean, I was constantly in prayer, like every moment of every day in prayer, even when I
00:41:46.280
didn't believe, I just remember the story from Mark of the father of the son who's demon
00:41:51.940
possessed and, you know, he's asking Jesus for a miracle, heal my son.
00:41:56.120
He's like, I believe, help me with my unbelief.
00:42:08.080
So I'm sure people, some people can relate to this.
00:42:10.380
And, you know, she did have fever and like, I think for so long, and there were times where
00:42:15.200
I'm trying to comfort her and like, babe, you're going to be fine.
00:42:18.120
And she's like, don't belittle what I'm going through.
00:42:22.780
It's easy to deal with the marriage stuff and, you know, on your deathbed.
00:42:32.840
But it was, it was, yeah, the hardest thing we've ever had to walk through.
00:42:37.080
And, but I have to tell you, I never, I never fully doubted.
00:42:51.120
And I feel like it, my story is to strengthen other people's faith and encourage them and
00:43:02.240
If you could talk to someone who was going through the same thing, maybe it's the husband,
00:43:07.860
maybe it's the wife, they have kids, they've gotten this diagnosis, whatever it is.
00:43:12.360
What was, what is the one thing that you would want them to know?
00:43:24.040
And for whatever reason, I guess, cause I had never faced something like this.
00:43:28.340
It, I never, um, fully believed that I could experience a miracle.
00:43:34.840
Like it would, I always believed it for other people and I'm like, this can happen.
00:43:40.060
But for whatever reason, I just kept that away from me, but just knowing that he loves
00:43:54.020
Um, so my, my, the best thing, the biggest thing I want to share and spread is just hope.
00:44:00.920
I'm so thankful y'all are on the other side of it.
00:44:02.800
I mean, I remember following along on Instagram, but now I have a lot more detail to what I
00:44:08.480
was reading, but I was just praying for you so much because I haven't been in that situation,
00:44:13.720
but I mean, yes, as a human, but especially as a mom, I mean, I can at least imagine just
00:44:21.620
the pain and the fear and all of that, but praise God.
00:44:28.360
That's a little contrast from the meat industry, but.
00:44:35.200
So people need to get, um, I did not realize that skin, I thought, uh, skin cancer, that's
00:44:41.900
Like the first, the first time you just kind of have this, people need to get checked.
00:44:46.700
If you're not getting checked, go to a dermatologist, get checked.
00:44:49.920
Cause honestly I was, we were at the dermatologist for me.
00:44:53.080
Cause she saw like, I had a cyst on my side and was, and, and she was like, you should get
00:45:00.760
And then, and this was, you know, several years ago.
00:45:04.040
And then at the dermatologist while we were there, um, she, she decided, she was like,
00:45:12.580
And then she's like, I need to take that off and look at it.
00:45:19.240
And, um, so if you don't go to the dermatologist to get checked out, you should.
00:45:37.720
We don't know what's going to happen in the future.
00:45:39.580
It would be smart to get an emergency food supply stash for your family.
00:45:45.140
This is a three month emergency food supply kit that gives you 2000 calorie a day meals
00:45:55.060
You want to get one kit for every member of your family.
00:45:59.280
Of course, the hope is that you never have to break into them, that you never have to
00:46:02.560
use them, but it's so much better to be safe than sorry.
00:46:05.580
If you get into that scenario, you will be so glad that you made this purchase and they're
00:46:18.360
If you go to preparewithally.com, you can save $300 on your mega three month emergency
00:46:30.320
Okay, as we wrap, I think that y'all said that you have an announcement, a fun announcement.
00:46:46.800
You said you told me what it's not, but it's very early on this announcement, but we'll
00:46:52.560
So we've been working on launching chicken nuggets.
00:46:59.140
And this whole meat chicken, so by definition, a nugget is ground up chicken and you really
00:47:09.200
This is whole meat, amazing, same quality, our same chicken that we use for our chicken
00:47:19.440
But we are going to be, every other nugget on the market, if you go look in the ingredients,
00:47:28.840
they're either fried in canola oil, sunflower oil, vegetable oil, all seed oils.
00:47:39.340
We will have the only nugget on the market, not using seed oils.
00:47:46.040
We're going to use avocado oil, which is a healthy fat, healthy oil, high smoke point.
00:47:51.640
And we're super excited to be able to offer that.
00:47:54.480
That alone is reason to subscribe to Good Ranchers because I've made my own chicken nuggets before
00:48:03.260
But like, I also don't want to be feeding, you know, seed oils every time they want chicken
00:48:11.160
It's been a big hurdle because we've been finding somebody to make it.
00:48:17.080
We've just had obstacle after obstacle after obstacle of like, nobody does this.
00:48:22.260
And we're like, yeah, but we, you know, we made a decision long ago.
00:48:26.640
We only want to sell what we would feed to our family and what we would feed to our kids.
00:48:31.400
So we like, we actually just got the news that we were able to do it yesterday.
00:48:42.100
It's, you know, I don't want to, it, it should be within the next six weeks to two months.
00:48:49.480
But because when we're like right there, honestly, the oil is where we got held up.
00:48:53.600
And yeah, we had packaging done and everything.
00:48:56.860
And then the oil and, but again, such a hurdle.
00:48:59.800
And we were being pushed to just use vegetable oil or just use canola oil.
00:49:08.520
And so we just got the green light yesterday to do it.
00:49:13.100
The Stucky household is going to have a chicken nugget party.
00:49:15.320
We'll make sure our subscribers know first though.
00:49:22.880
Thanks for sharing the news and your story and your insight and everything meat related.
